Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written several novels but Hunting Abigail is the first I have published. Others will follow soon when I get around to editing them.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Hunting Abigail is an amalgam of two novels I wrote in my early days. Neither strong enough on their own, once combined they offered a whole new perspective on the story as a whole, and Hunting Abigail was created.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
My writing habits are fairly boring really. For example, I like to sit with a melon on my head while writing or partake in the odd rain dance which I find laces me with inspirational ideas – the usual stuff really.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Through an antique lens, Oscar Wilde and Harper Lee, most definitely. Through a more modern lens, Mo Hayder thrillers are a particular favourite of mine. As well as Sandrone Dazieri, Steig Larsson and Thomas Harris.

What are you working on now?
A stand-alone thriller called Breaking Nathan. I wrote this novel ages ago but I still love the premise. It is, however, a good few edits away from being finished.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am only just beginning this process but Bookbub seems to be the go-to for many authors. Standard social media is useful, and promo sites such as Awesome Gang are super-useful too.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
I wish. I don’t presume to be an authority! 🙂

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
About anything? That is a broad question but one quote does spring to mind by David Foster Wallace:

“You’ll worry less about what people think about you when you realize how seldom they do!”

How good is that! Especially in today’s world.

What are you reading now?
Dean Koontz’s Jane Hawk series.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Go back a couple of questions!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
How to Stay Alive by Bear Grylls
How to Build Your Own Cabin in the Woods by J. Wayne Fears
Hunting, Butchering & Cooking Wild Game by Steven Rinella

Alyssa B. Cole

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have published five short stories and six novels/novellas. Besides being a writer, I’m a middle school teacher in Minnesota.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“In Death’s Grasp: Part I” was inspired by the myth of Hades and Persephone. I wondered what it would be like if an ordinary mortal girl caught the eye of an immortal being and wanted to dive into the psychological aspects of that scenario.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to only write a lot when I’m close to a deadline, but I think a lot of authors do that!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I almost never read anything that doesn’t have a pinch of romance in it, whether it’s clean and wholesome or completely dysfunctional. I also read and wrote a lot of fanfiction growing up, so that helped me develop an eye for characterization. My favorite authors have been Pamela Dean, Diana Wynne Jones, and Jane Austen.

What are you working on now?
I’m working on the second and final book in the In Death’s Grasp series.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still learning, but ads have been helpful. I’ve been trying new things for the past couple of months. I’m very excited to work with Awesome Gang and promote my work on their platform.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing! Also, marketing can be fun once you grow more comfortable with it, so give yourself a chance to practice it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t second-guess yourself, just start writing the next book.

What are you reading now?
I’m rereading “Radium Girls” by Kate Moore. It’s one of the few nonfiction titles I have enjoyed so much I want to read it over and over. It’s as engrossing as any fiction novel.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope to launch a new romance series next year, possibly something paranormal!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, “Till We Have Faces” by C.S. Lewis, “Tam Lin” by Pamela Dean, and “Pride & Prejudice” by Jane Austen. I think that’s diverse enough to keep me entertained for a while!

ark Ahern was born in 1979 and is from Ireland. He attained a Degree in Commerce from UCD in 2000 and a Masters in European Studies in 2001.

He has written four novels to date encompassing science fiction and thrillers. At times Mark has used his experiences as an individual with a disability to write from a truly unique perspective.

Chronicles of Martan which is his sole science fiction work to date, is an epic space odyssey inspired by his love of Star Wars.

“Not the Usual Suspect” and “Paradigm” follow the life of a disabled character called Alan who first seeks revenge after the murder of his sister and then find finds himself involved in a murky world of terrorists.

His latest novel is called “The Irish Ripper”. Not for the faint of heart, it tells of the hunt of an unlikely hero for a callous serial killer who has Ireland gripped in fear.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called “The Irish Ripper”. The film “The Silence of the Lambs” left a lasting impression on me and since then I have always been fascinated by serial killers and what it was that motivated them.

This novel explores the hunt for a serial killer in an Irish context.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m a very stop, start kind of writer. I start something, then it could be weeks before I look at it again.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Thomas Harris is my favorite author and my main influence.

What are you working on now?
My next novel features many of the same characters as “The Irish Ripper”, but the next hunt will be for killers using the dark web. It’s only in the early stages at the moment.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Hopefully this one!

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Perseverance is required.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never give up.

Nothing as such. Just enjoying the lockdown, and learning new skills.

What’s next for you as a writer?

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

Laura Kronen

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a two-time author – Homeschool Happily: Yes, You Can! and Too Sweet: The Not-So-Serious Side to Diabetes are my titles.

I like to think of myself as an eclectic entrepreneur. I am a Life Coach, a consultant for pharmaceutical companies, an inventor, and the founder of lifestyle company Be You Only Better. My two incredible sons are “my why.” I love wine and tennis (although not at the same time). Traveling, volunteering, enjoying the sunshine, and buying things in the middle of the night that I do not need are my favorite pastimes.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
When I feel driven and passionate about something, it comes out on paper. I am having such a wonderful experience homeschooling my children and wanted to inspire others who might be considering going down the same path, especially in these challenging times. My prior book had the same type of inspiration. I am also a Type 1 diabetic and authored a book about living a positive and happy life with Type one. It’s called Too Sweet: The Not-So-Serious Side to Diabetes.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I never sleep, so I am constantly jotting down thing in the notes section of my phone. Gee, it couldn’t be that blinding light thats keeping me awake, could it?

What are you working on now?
Promoting my book! Creating on-line classes. Homeschooling my kids. Living life to the fullest!

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
social media towards my specific customer

Do you have any advice for new authors?
keep plugging away!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Control the situation. Don’t let the situation control you.

What are you reading now?
I’m beta reading for a friend’s new book.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I have so many ideas but no time to wrap my head around them now!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

Richard Ferguson

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve been writing most of my life. Probably the best-known magazine I’ve written for was Billboard, also Sports Illustrated for the athletes out there. I research my books carefully. The things that happen in my books are based on reality. In one of them, Oiorpata, I used some of the most extreme practices of the intelligence agencies in the story. My latest book, Spirit Runner, which has been a best-seller on Amazon for most of the time it has been out, is the closest thing to an autobiography I’ve ever written. In Weird Tales, and in More Weird Tales, I got into the world of horror. There is also Blue’s Point, a book that delves into the characters living in a town founded by racists.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Spirit Runner. I ran for the University of Texas and I had Olympic aspirations, but a nerve was injured in my leg during my time in the Army so I couldn’t follow that dream. Ron Campbell, the boy in Spirit Runner, aspires to be an Olympic marathoner like his father, but he’s injured in a car wreck and goes through therapy, but never gives up on his dream.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have a snooker table. When I need a break, I practice my shots.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Too many to name, but I’ll take a shot at a few. The most recent author who impressed me the most was Ken Kesey. I met him and had the pleasure of spending an evening talking with him. It wasn’t long before I realized that Randall Patrick McMurphy, the protagonist in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, was Ken Kesey. I’ve always admired Mark Twain’s mastery of words and character development. John Steinbeck stands out in my mind as does John LeCarre.

What are you working on now?
I’m working on a cold war spy series.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I keep searching for a best way to promote my books. I wish people would write more reviews. I don’t think they realize that, when they like a book, they can help it become successful if they just take the time to spread the word of what they thought of it

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes. Write clean. By that I mean don’t rush through the book. I once heard someone say that musicians should never throw away a note. They should make every note count. The same is true in writing. Make every word count. Did he stagger, or saunter, or stride, or strut across the room? Use the best word every time. It will bring the story to life. Also, never pad just to get to 80,000 words or whatever amount the genre requires. Extra words are boring.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t pay much attention to criticisms from people who aren’t writers.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Three or four wouldn’t be enough. I guess I’d take the Encyclopedia Britannica.

Katie Fehlinger

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
In 2018, I hit rock bottom. I was sad, angry, frustrated and suffocated by a situation I had put myself into. I had a life that looked great on paper with a big market on-air tv career. But inside, I was miserable.

The only person who could fix my problem was ME.

My book is called “My Happy Place: How I DIY’d My Own Bliss”. A hopeful, relatable memoir/how-to hybrid, it lays out in detail the DIY roadmap I followed to actualize my most authentically joyful existence, plus ninja tricks and wisdom that helped me ensure the good times keep rolling.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Part of “My Happy Place” was written from the driver’s seat of my car. I need zero distractions to write, and because the world shut down due to COVID, I had to get creative to finish my manuscript. So I set up a cramped portable office in my car and drove to parking spots with picturesque views to get the work done.

I also find I have to be in a certain mood to write effectively. Certain chapters in “My Happy Place” required I be in an angry or hopeful or inspired mood to get my message across.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Though my first book is a memoir, I don’t typically read that genre myself. However, I wrote as honestly as I could, like I was writing a huge diary entry. When I was about halfway through my manuscript, I listened to the audio version of Rachel Hollis’ “Girl, Stop Apologizing”. Hollis’ style felt so close to my own – telling it like she saw it through personal stories and observations. Her work and the success it had by that point gave me confidence that I was on the right track in my own writing – by being authentic.

What are you working on now?
I have grand plans to write another book (or several more). However, as I DIY’d and reinvented my life, I chose 3 big projects to work on. #1 was my first book – check. Next up, I plan to create an online course in one of my wheelhouses – video production. I want to help amateur aspiring content creators become video production rockstars. Along with that, I’m developing a presence as a public speaker, and have more information on all my current work on my website: https://katiefehlinger.com/

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Social, social, social. I am lucky enough to have built an organic following before I wrote my book. So getting the word out via Facebook, Instagram and Twitter has proved pivotal for me. It was also where I reached out to assemble my book launch team.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
I hit a SERIOUS hump day period in the writing process. When I was about 75% done with my manuscript, the gears just ground to a halt I worried my writer’s block would keep me from finishing. My solution: I took a hard look at my outline. I reworked my giant wall of sticky notes to ensure my book had a solid path and that helped me pinpoint where I needed to add paragraphs and trim things down.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
It’s SO important to love what you do every day. Steve Jobs and Gary Vaynerchuk have reinforced the idea that loving your process is vital to happiness. Success is so much more than just reaching a goal. You can have your eye on a prize, but make sure you’re loving the journey there.

What are you reading now?
As I write this, I’m halfway through “Little Women” (my favorite novel of all time). But I love a good psychothriller, and just gobbled up Ruth Ware’s “The Turn of the Key” a few days ago.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I have the author bug now, and hope to write another non-fiction book about bullying and dealing with the trolls in our lives (both online and IRL). Eventually, I hope to also write a children’s book and a lifestyle coffee table book.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
“Little Women”, no question. But I’m going to cheat and say the entire Agatha Christie collection. She’s my favorite author and her work never gets old.

M. Curtis McCoy

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I just published my 4th book.

I’m an American entrepreneur, business development expert, influencer, author, and keynote speaker.

I lost everything after being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor but fought against all the odds to recover and return to the marketplace. I also survived Type-1 Diabetes, grand mal seizures, multiple comas, and recurring memory issues.

Despite these challenges, I’m helping thousands to reach their goals through mentoring, speaking, and books.

In 2015 I launched “Success, Motivation & Inspiration” where I encourage other entrepreneurs to achieve success in their own lives. I continue to publish books on leadership, personal branding, communication, and personal branding that combine life lessons with inspiring interviews.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“How To Be Successful: Think Like A Leader” is my most recent book.

By the time I was 27 years old, I owned a number of companies in various industries including medical, fashion, manufacturing, distribution, and pharmaceuticals. I had become successful at a young age and life was great!

Everything changed when I started having daily grand mal seizures. In 2010, I was diagnosed with brain cancer. Oncologists gave me only 60-90 days to live. I lost absolutely everything as I became unable to drive, live alone, or remember small details such as if I’d eaten, or taken an insulin shot. Everything I had researched, the businesses I had built, and even my memory were gone.

My family took me to Tijuana, Mexico to pursue alternative treatments. Uncertain of whether I’d survive or not, I was inspired to make a difference in as many lives as possible.

I began contacting leaders I admired and asking questions. HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL: Think Like A Leader is a compilation of true stories & conversations that will help you in your journey to success.

“Getting rich is hard, but being poor was worse. Choose your struggle wisely!” – M. Curtis McCoy

I’ve always enjoyed motivational talks, pumped up workout music, and inspirational books. Each day, I commit to doing something that inspires me to reach for more.

In 2015 I launched Success, Motivation & Inspiration as a blog to motivate and inspire others to achieve more in their lives as well. Around the same time, I began connecting with aspiring entrepreneurs and seasoned experts. I was looking for others who wanted to increase their business and expand their market presence. It was nice to be able to jot down thoughts in the blog when I discovered something that inspired me.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been the guy that people approach with ideas. I enjoy working with seasoned entrepreneurs, new business owners, and startups as they share their vision. As the social media groups gained thousands of members globally, I started receiving calls and messages from people whose lives had improved because of the principles I shared. Others reached out for guidance or advice on how to become successful. I also received messages from athletes who were inspired to train harder, stick to their diet plans, and pursue their goals with greater intensity.

During this time, my company began to explode with increased online sales. I started spending time with extremely successful people who were achieving growth in their own lives. Many of these new friends had created lifestyles that allowed them to do things that others could only imagine. The more time I spent around these successful friends, the more ideas and opportunities started falling into my lap. Even though I wasn’t concentrating on writing or social media, interest continued to grow.

Learn how HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL & Think Like A Leader. I hope you love this book!

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write my books as blog posts, then organize each chapter as they come along. Each chapter of every book is available online & the posts seem to generate great traffic & book sales!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnegie, Dr. Wayne Dyer, John C. Maxwell, Tony Robbins, Stephen R. Covey, Brian Tracy, Les Brown, Jim Rohn, Brendan Burchard, H.J. Chammas, Cynthia Johnson, Mel Carson, James Atlas, Robert Greene, Chris Hogan, Tom Wolfe, Brendan Kane, Brené Brown, and many others!

What are you working on now?
I’m working on a couple of new books that focus on personal branding and co-authoring a book on getting started in real estate investing.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’ve had great results promoting on podcast episodes, Facebook Live, and doing author interviews on https://www.facebook.com/MCurtisMcCoy

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just start writing. Put your thoughts down on paper, or a blog, or on your laptop. You can always edit & delete something you don’t like, but it’s impossible to create a book if you don’t have any words written.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Take some time and enjoy life. Reward yourself. You can’t work 7-days a week forever, without getting burned out.

What are you reading now?
The Employee Millionaire by H.J. Chammas

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m currently contacting leaders who have built a massive personal brand, so they can share their secrets!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I’m going to be stranded on an island, I’m bringing my smartphone, a solar charger, and making sure my Audible subscription is current. I’ll trade you 4 paperback books for my Chromebook & hotspot service so I can keep writing.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a creative writer and designer born in Northamptonshire. Being a fan of all things fantasy, story writing has always been an easy way to escape the real world and sprinkling a little magic into life. When living in London, writing was an escape to the stresses of London life and was how my first novel Shadows became a reality. Now back in my hometown, I still finds writing a great way to unwind and to bring enchantment into my world and others.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book is Shadows.

I was inspired by a dream and old ghost stories I used to tell friends. However, I love mystery, the paranormal and fantasy so this too has inspired my writing.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I can’t say I have any unusual habits I’m sure things I have done to get ideas or put an end to a writing block someone else must have done.
However, being an illustrator too I will sometimes sit and draw, this helps my mind clear and ideas spring to mind.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
There are so many amazing authors out there that inspire me and Have definitely influenced my style of writing. I love modern authors such as Becca Fitzpatrick, Cassandra Clare, Stephenie Meyer, Giavanna Fletcher, Louise Rennison (when I was younger she was my idol).

However, the old greats have 100% influenced me such as, Jane Austen, J.M.Barrie and Charles Dickens.

What are you working on now?
At the moment I am mostly focusing on the sequel to Shadows, which is definitely the most requested thing from everyone who has written the first.
But I have lots of other ideas which I will be putting to paper very soon.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I think when promoting your book, you need to get out there on as many platforms as you can, the more your book is seen, hopefully the more interest it drums up.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just keep writing. There will be times which you want to give up or you feel what you have written is a pile of crap but when reading back these might be your favourite parts. Just write, write, write and you can achieve whatever you want!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
You comfort zone is a lovely place, but nothing can grow there!

What are you reading now?
I’m reading Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick! Apart of an amazing group of books!

What’s next for you as a writer?
For me as a writer I am hoping to release my second book and keep getting my work out there for people to enjoy!

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I love anything and everything related to the paranormal. I love to watch ghost shows even though I make fun of most of their findings. I also can’t resist reading a good ghost story.
When I’m not writing about the paranormal, I am outside. My husband and I are happiest when we are at camp. We also love to hike, fish, and play on any body of water. I have two dogs and a cat that are my fur babies.
The Haunting of Locker 31 is my first published book but I have two completed novels sitting on ice and just started a third. I hope to have them all published within the year.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My current novel is The Haunting of Locker 31. I was inspired to write it for me when I was a teenager. I liked Ghost stories, and I liked reading about teenage drama. I wanted this book to be a mix of those two stories. I also was tired of the ghost story in the creepy house.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t think so? I set a word goal for myself each day and I do my best to hit it. I have an office and I’m usually in their with my dogs and cat.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Steven King of course. Tana French is another. Mike Omer.

What are you working on now?
I just put a book in the drawer to rest a few weeks. It is another ghost story, this time it is a little darker. It is about kids reading a ghost story while on a trip and facing some pretty scary consequences.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still learning that! I wish there was a simple way to promote my book but I don’t think there is!

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Hire an editor! It is worth the money. They will fix your book and help you grow as an author. Also, develop a thick skin. People can be mean. Sometimes they aren’t even trying to be but they are.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
You can’t edit and publish something that isn’t written.

What are you reading now?
As much as I love ghost stories, I have found that I can’t read them at night. I have vivid dreams. Not nightmares but close to it. So I have two novels going right now.
In the morning I’ve been reading: Spirit Legacy by E.E. Holmes
Before bed I’ve been reading: Rhett’s Make Believe Marriage by Liz Isaacson
I just finished The Whisper Man by Alex North. I recommend that.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Publish another book!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Could I bring my kindle? It’s technically just one…
The Shining-Steven King
Pride and Prejudice-Jane Austen
The Hobbit-Tolkien
