I have written the first book in my novella series which is in the editing stage.

Creativity Brewing:30 Short Stories Hand-Roasted to Perfection.
A writing challenge inspired me to take the idea of flash fiction and out it in a collection.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Maybe not a habit, but if I have the story pretty well conceived, I prefer to write on the computer. If I’m struggling, I like to use pen and paper to slow down and think through the plot and scene.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Orson Scott Card is one of my biggest influencers. I love how much thought he puts into his books, which makes me as a reader think.
Also a trilogy called “The Door Within.” I can’t remember the author, but it inspired me to write when I was a teenager which kept my fire going.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently beginning writing the second book of my novella series. I can’t say too much, but it deals with secrets and danger.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?

I’m currently reading “Defender of Histories” by Haley Walden

Mia Coco Lanner

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a new author. I have four short stories available, and I am working on my fifth.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest story is Vanilla and Chill, which is the third part of my Baker’s Boy series. The inspiration for it came from two of my great loves: a cozy night in and vanilla ice cream.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I love to have a cup of Earl Grey tea to hand when I write. I am so rock and roll!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Portia Da Costa and Tracie Podger, by showing that erotic fiction can be well written, nicely structured and a cracking good read. And, of course, E.L. James for lighting up the genre and allowing everyone to appreciate it!

What are you working on now?
I am working on the second part of my Highland Host series which tells the story of Penny and Adam who meet at a luxury hotel in the Scottish Highlands. This story takes their acquaintance to a new level.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I love Awesome Gang – so easy to use, submission is a doddle. When all you want to be doing is writing, you need the promo to be as easy and effective as possible. Thanks very much, Awesome Gang.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Do it! Don’t be shy. So many people want to write but never do it – or do write but never complete stories or don’t show them to anyone. Write, complete, show, learn, revise, and write some more! Then don’t stop writing and showing.

Also, don’t wait for “perfect” (the time, the moment, the inspiration, the piece of work). If you do, you will either never start or never put anything out there because it will never be perfect. Perfection is a myth.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best piece of advice I ever heard was from Neil Gaiman and that was to complete, complete, complete – don’t jump from one idea to the next without completing anything. He said that you learn so much more from completing a story, more than you do from starting several and not finishing them. I was really bad for doing this and I took that piece of advice and ran with it – now I have four published short stories to my name.

What are you reading now?
The Intimate Adventures of a London Call Girl by Belle De Jour

What’s next for you as a writer?
Just keep going, keep completing. I’ve got five more stories to tell in the Baker’s Boy series, and I’ll be wrapping up the first trilogy of stories in the Highland Host series with a dramatic secret reveal!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
One Day by David Nicholls, Emma by Jane Austen, Fifty Shades Darker by E.L. James, and The Bonesetter’s Daughter by Amy Tan.
