Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called Caramel Addiction. It’s a story of a masculine black lesbian, Persia, who is in a polyamorous relationship with 3 women. One of her lovers is requiring monogamy which goes against everything Persia believes. She struggles through making the right decision for her mind and her heart.

I’m inspired by my experiences and the experiences of those around me. I thinknits important to share real life stories so people don’t feel alone.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t think I have unusual writing habits. I am very unorganized so i write every where, on my computer, notebooks, or my phone. Whenever the words hit me I have to write.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Donald Goines, Maya Angelou, Zane, Sistah Soulja, just to name a few.

What are you working on now?
Right now I’m working on my second book. It’s a part of my Chocolate, Caramel, Vanilla Series. It’s called Vanilla Thickness.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am really bad at promoting my book. I usually use Facebook more than anything.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write and rewrite. Mistakes in your story is distracting from your story. Also, start building your brand now. Readers need to feel a connection with you to believe in your work for the first time.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write about what you know.

What are you reading now?
I’m reading a lot of self improvement and marketing books right now.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Continuing to write. I spent a lot of time focusing on other things but writing is my real passion.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would bring 2 notebooks, Dope Fiend by Donald Goines, and I Know Why the Cage Bird Sings by Maya Angelou.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I grew up on a farm in a small town in Kentucky where I often imagined traveling to the places in the books I read. I started reading at a young age because I loved stories.
I started telling stories to save a groundhog that lived in my Dad’s barn. When my Grandpa said he’d come down and shoot it, I’d come up with reasons he couldn’t Grandpa encouraged me to flesh out those reasons into full stories to entertain friends and family. I grew to love telling those stories, and truth be told the attention it garnered me from Grandpa.
I started to write stories as soon as I could write sentences. I love the act of writing as much as the act of storytelling. Watching the story reveal itself as I write brings me immense pleasure.
I studied Corrections & Juvenile Services as well as Psychology at Eastern Kentucky University because I have an insatiable need to understand why people do the things they do.
I continue to explore the motivation behind people’s behavior both in the things I choose to read and the things I write.
I have published 5 books of poetry, 2 collections of short stories, and a novel.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The last book I published was a book of short stories, Take a Chance & Other Stories of Starting Over, which explores beginnings and endings that lead to the decision whether or not to take a risk or stay the course. The stories in it were inspired by facing my own choices in life and watching other people make choices. Sometimes I would ponder “what if” about those choices, and often that pondering developed into a story.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t consider my writing habits unusual because they are the usual for me; however, I don’t know if someone else would see them as unusual. I can and do write just about anywhere. I don’t need absolute quiet nor do I need certain sounds to write. I think the important thing is to write, to get the words written, to watch the story unfold, and to immerse yourself in it as you go. I find that meditation helps me focus a little better, so I meditate every day for that little boost. I also find that sometimes the most productive thing I can do if I’m stuck is to go for a walk or to have coffee/tea with a friend. I don’t think any of that is all that unusual though.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
One of my earliest influences was S. E. Hinton. Her books captivated me in a way that made me seeing books differently than I had before. She wrote about what she wanted to write, and I found that inspiring. She wrote about teenagers in a way that felt relatable to me unlike many of the other books about teenagers I read. Her books reinforced the message telling stories about the groundhog on my grandpa’s knee had taught me; that words could make a difference, that fiction could touch hearts, that stories could provoke thought as well as entertainment.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on two books.
One is Democracy in Silhouette: Poems, a book of poetry exploring democracy, politics, governing, and issues that affect us all daily. I was inspired to write it by the political divisiveness that is so prevalent in the world.

The other is novel, tentatively titled Red, that explores the mental breakdown of Marissa, a woman who is found with the dead bodies of her family. As she struggles to regain her memories, her past unfolds to show what lead to the tragic night that her family died.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I think promoting books is simply about getting books in front of readers. I use social media, a blog, and a variety of sites like this one to promote my books. Still, it seems to me that the best method of promoting books is to write and publish more books because it increases the chance people will talk about one or more of your books.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write what you want to write and write what you want to read. We have enough stories that are the same out there. We need diverse stories, diverse points of view, and diverse voices. If no one wants to publish the message you want to send, publish it yourself. Don’t compromise yourself for the market.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Oh, this is a tough one. I’ve been lucky to meet several authors who have given me great advice over the years. Everything from the advice to do a hated chore to cure writer’s block to the only way to make progress was to sit down and write. Those two seem contradictory, but they aren’t really because sometimes doing the hated chore makes you want to get back to the writing!

What are you reading now?
I am currently reading two books:

Terra Incognita: Oregon Poets Write for Ecological, Social, Political, and Economic Justice

Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari

What’s next for you as a writer?
As I stated earlier, I’m currently working on completing two books. I plan to publish at least one of them this year. I also have several more books of poetry I’m working on compiling and ideas for a couple more novels that are in various stages. I also plan to continue writing recipes to eventually publish a book of recipes based on the recipes I post regularly on my recipe blog, Vegan Cooking with TLC.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I’d rather have a group of books to help me find water, grow food, build shelter, treat wounds and illnesses, and build a boat to go for help than something to entertain me. I already entertain myself by making up stories, so I could continue to do that.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve always admired people with a strong work ethic – people who juggle more than one job or people who really push themselves to the limit because they know others are counting on them. As a scientist and an author, my work is dedicated to helping those people get through their struggles by providing realistic advice – not just the “get more sleep”, “cut back on caffeine” advice, but the real, practical advice that acknowledges how hard it can be to make ends meet.
In 2003, two magical things happened: 1) I was accepted to UC San Diego to study biochemistry and 2) Monster Energy hit US Markets. Energy drinks are controversial to this day but you can imagine how concerned people were when they were brand-new. As someone who hated coffee and tea, energy drinks were my saving grace as I struggled to balance my college classes and TWO part-time jobs. I knew in 2003 I wanted to be someone who could provide realistic information to those in my same boat – the people who needed caffeine to help them get through their hectic lifestyle. I wanted to help people make decisions whether to drink energy drinks or not based on facts, not fear.
Since 2003 I’ve put my advanced degrees in biochemistry and food science to work to accomplish this goal. In 2013, I published my first book, “Are You a Monster or a Rock Star: A Guide to Energy Drinks.” In 2020, I published my second book, “How to Get Sh*t Done When You Feel Like Sh*t”.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My newest book is called “How to Get Sh*t Done When You Feel Like Sh*t: The Secret to Caffeine, Motivation, and Productivity for the Sleep-Deprived and Overwhelmed.” A wise woman once told me, “be the person you needed 5 years ago” and this book is exactly that. While my first book was focused mostly on energy drinks and their ingredients, this newest book is about fatigue in general and how to manage it – not just with caffeine but with other physical and mental strategies. This book is especially dedicated to all those who are commonly sleep-deprived or overwhelmed but still need to get stuff done. This book is a realistic guide to productivity and motivation.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write best at 3 am because I get persistent insomnia while I’m pregnant. This book was largely written thanks to Pregnancy Insomnia.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love the way Cara Natterson tackles science and misconceptions in her books – her format for “Dangerous or Safe” inspired the format I used for my first book. I also love the way Aaron Sorkin writes. There’s no way I could ever replicate his pace or cleverness of dialog but when I’m struggling with writer’s block, watching something written by Sorkin helps me relocate my passion for writing.

What are you working on now?
My main goals are 1) publicize the heck out of this new book – with the Coronavirus pandemic, there are even more people working around the clock and sacrificing sleep for the greater good – those are the people I feel my book can help the most! 2) Leading workshops with first responders on managing fatigue and caffeine use in the workplace; 3) publishing research on energy drink brand preference and recognition with the California State University of Long Beach.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Reviews and testimonials are a great asset because people want to know the book they’re about to buy is really worth it.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t let PERFECT be the enemy of the good.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Lauren Graham said in her book, “Talking as Fast as I Can” to set a timer for 1 hour and to not stop writing – you can oscillate between a word document diary and your work-in-progress but you don’t stop writing. This advice helped me minimize distractions and the millions of things on my to-do list and just focus on the task at hand. It helped me quiet my inner editor and just keep writing.

What are you reading now?
Boss Up! by Lindsay Teague Moreno; also “Huggy the Python Hugs Too Hard” – my son just can’t get enough of that book!

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’d like to accumulate the testimonials from the people who are using the 5 Levels of Fatigue system in my latest book and use them for a sequel. Mel Robbin’s book, “The 5 Second Rule” felt like it was 90% testimonials and only 10% content! I don’t want my next book to be that unbalanced but I do want to have a follow-up that describes all the people I’ve helped in person or through my books.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
Ms. Marvel Volume 1 – No Normal (Kamela Khan)
Fundamentals of Biochemistry by Voet, Voet, and Pratt
How to Get Sh*t Done When You Feel Like Sh*t: The Secret to Caffeine, Motivation, and Productivity for the Sleep-Deprived and Overwhelmed

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I used to be an expert on Sustainable Development and in worked in developing economies until I retired about five years ago. I have now retired but I still live in a provincial city in Vietnam. I have written 27 Romance books under my pen name Adam Mann, and 7 Historical novels, mainly based in Asian countries using local history as a base.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The last five books have been Box Sets, three at a time, for my existing Romance novels. This has highlighted several amendments and corrections for those books which I have republished.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I often wake about three or four in the morning, with a bright idea, and get up and write it immediately.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have read Chris Ryan, but I have not written those type of books, and George MacDonald Fraser as I often know the area where his books were based.

What are you working on now?
Box Sets.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I much prefer Smashwords to Amazon.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just put your head down and write. Don’t listen to the advice from others.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t listen to the advice from others.

What are you reading now?
An Emperor Among Us by David St. John.

What’s next for you as a writer?

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a Swedish writer of hard boiled science fiction action stories. Over the years I have been an elite soldier, windsurfer, film maker, downhill skier, musician, artist and office slave.

I live in Kungsbacka, Sweden, with mygirlfriend and two children. I’m published by Next Chapter.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Under A Dark Sky
I wanted to once more explore the age old concept of who we really are, set in a sci-fi action context.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Nothing special, I think. With two kids I just try to write whenever I get the chance. Which could be on the bus, during a boring meeting at work or late at night when the family sleeps.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Richard K. Morgan and his Altered Carbon novels have been a big influence, and my own work has been compared (undeservedly if you ask me) to his novels on many occasions.
Gavin G Smith is another big influence, as well as Neal Asher and Alastair Reynolds.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently writing the sequel to Under a Dark Sky, called Under a Winter Sun.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I mostly use my own website to promote my writing.
Twitter and Facebook are great places to reach out to your followers.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just write. Don’t care about marketing or writing things that sell. Write what you want to read, and chances are someone else will want to read it too. Unless you have extremely strange taste, in which case you should probably keep your writing to yourself.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write what you want to read.

What are you reading now?
Age of Assassins by RJ Barker

What’s next for you as a writer?
I aim to complete my new novel sometime this summer. Then it’s on to promote that before going in to write the final installment in the trilogy.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
A survival manual, my unfinished manuscript and a thick book of crosswords.

Nikolay Yordanov

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am born in Varna, Bulgaria. I live in the capital – Sofia, teaching in the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts, making TV reality programs and – yes, write books. My first book, “Notes from Hell”, was published in 2009. This month I finally presented to the world the second one – sort of LGBT magical realism adventure love story.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
It’s called “Don’t Tell Mama”. It was inspired by a story of a gay guy who presented his roommate as his girlfriend before his family. It was supposed to be a small book, 100-105 pages. Well, now it’s an epic story within eight countries on 600 pages. It’s really far away from the usual “gay-themed” books, and I hope it would be interesting for any reader.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I always listen music. It inspires me. For example if I am writing about a certain country I am listening to its music.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
They are so, so many, from all around the world. I like to taste different genres. I don’t like romance, but I adore horror, anti-utopia, comedy and fantasy. But in general if the story is good I don’t care about the genre.

What are you working on now?
All my time is dedicated to “Don’t Tell Mama”. Don’t be mislead by the title – tell about it to everyone. 🙂

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Just connecting to readers. I Like Goodreads.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write a book that you would want read every several years.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t THINK about the book you are writing, just FEEL it.

What are you reading now?
“Atlas Shrugged” by Ann Rand and “La ciociara” by Alberto Moravia.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I have a lot of books in my mind. I am working on a sort of continuation of “Don’t Tell Mama” – a collections of short narratives, titled “Don’t Tell Mama: Dark Stories”, and then an anti-utopia novel, “Tales of Fear”.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
“The Wheel of Time” series – I know it’s a cheat, but that’s a lot of reading.
“The Count of Monte Cristo” – I would read it in solitary
Some Woodhouse book.
“Time of Violence” by Anton Donchev. It’s sad. I like sad books. 🙂

Diana Tobin

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Books mean a lot to me. As a youngster, I saved up my allowance to get the next Nancy Drew. I love stepping into another world, even if that world is just next door. The death of my mother made me realize you can’t wait for someday to follow your dreams, and I began to write my own stories. I joined writing groups, attended conferences and seminars. After retirement from the “real” world, my first book was published. My 10th published novel, A PATRIOT’S LOVE, is a recent release and I have a contract for the follow up book. Most of my books are set in Maine and I’m currently working on another.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
A Patriot’s Love. I love the American Revolution time period. When I learned of battles that took place in Maine, I knew I had to write a book during that time. A Patriot’s Love is a time travel back to 1775.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Mostly that I have no habits. I write when I can, which isn’t always everyday. If I’m not physically writing, I’m thinking about what to write.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Nora Roberts, Sharon Sala, Kathleen Brooks, Jana DeLeon, Robyn Carr, and too many more to list.

What are you working on now?
Most of my books are a series titled Men of Maine, dealing with a small town and the people living there. My current work in progress is two brothers and their cousin. Each will have his own story. I’m working on the cousin, who made his name as an investment banker, then crashed, losing everything including his wife.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My author page on Amazon: www.amazon.com/author/dianatobin
Or, my Facebook page: Di’s Maine Men

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up. Keep writing and reading.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Nora Roberts has said she can fix a bad page, not a blank one. To me, that means put something down, no matter how bad you think it is. Written words can be fixed.

What are you reading now?
Steve Berry’s The Emperor’s Tomb.

What’s next for you as a writer?
My next release will be Her Last Man, which is a follow up, of sorts, to A Patriot’s Love. It deals with the heroine from that story, along with her younger sister, and a murder in their small town.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
This self-quarantine with the Coronavirus feels a bit like a desert island, but we still have power so I’m good with my Kindle and all the books on there. No electricity on a desert island so I’d have to take one from each of my 4 favorite authors….and a ton of paper to write my own.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest children’s book is A Home for Sally. The inspiration for writing this book was to bring awareness about special needs animals and encourage adoption among them.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t consider my writing habits as unusual.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
The book that has influenced me is a children’s book of course; The Little That Can-Do Big Things by Things. This little engine was overlooked by the big engines who believed who he couldn’t do anything. However, after one of the engines was in trouble the little engine came to the rescue saving the day.

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on a book about dogs and their emotions. It is fun hearing all the pet parent stories.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am always looking for opportunities to promote my book, so one specific method is used. I believe there such be versatility for marketing and promotional purposes

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Best advice I can give to new authors is don’t’ wait until your book is published to begin promoting your book, you are not just an author but a businessperson as well you must embrace both. Also, make sure you are legally covered in all areas as it relates to your book writing.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I’ve heard is be yourself.

What are you reading now?
I am currently reading The Treasure Hunter by Kevin Dedmon

What’s next for you as a writer?
What’s next is to complete a marketing class started in the fall as well as completing and publishing the book I am writing.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Books I would take on a deserted island are my bible, any romance book, because I am a romantic at heart, Little Engine That Could and finally War and Peace which I’ve never finished reading.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I grew up in northern New Jersey with my sister and brother. We share treasured memories of high school, the Jersey shore, and skiing with cousins, all of which became part of “April’s Heart”. I went to college in Washington DC and became a teacher. I live in Virginia Beach, Virginia with my husband of thirty years. Our two boys are in their twenties making their own way in the world. April’s Heart is my one and only book so far. I am a new author.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My romance novel is “April’s Heart”, inspired by my experiences and romances in high school in the 1980’s. Although it is definitely fictional, it loosely follows the skeleton of my life. The character Mitch Hudgins and his relationship with April Schweiter are based on several boyfriends I had back in the day.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
My preferred method of exercise is power walking. During all thoughs hours and miles I would think and think about what should happen next. I would be inspired by the music playing through my earbuds, then go home and write it down.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love romance novels, especially erotic romance, so of course E.L. James Fifty Shades of Grey is a favorite. I also love the Twilight series.

What are you working on now?
Right now I am working on promoting April’s Heart. As a new author I am finding my way about how to do this. I also think about a possible plot for another romance novel. I like the idea of life long best friends falling in love, but we’ll see.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Facebook for sure. I often will post something on my blog from my website, then boost it on my Facebook page.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
As a new author myself I feel that I am more of a recipient of advice, but I have to say that if you get stuck working your way through KDP, don’t hesitate to contact them. Their system of calling you back is great!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
No book is everyone’s cup of tea. My brother in law told me that when I was feeling squeamish.

What are you reading now?
I just finished The Handmaid’s Tale.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Promote, promote, promote, and try to get those that have read it leave reviews. I dream of writing another romance novel, but I haven’t started one yet.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would bring April’s Heart for one. I just love it. I think it such a fun read. I still laugh out loud at some parts. I think I would bring The Time Traveler’s Wife, I loved that book.

Latesha Houston

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an American born novelist residing in Australia. I have been an avid reader since I was a kid. I was the one reading under the covers with a light when I should have been asleep. I love the written word and delving into different worlds through books! I have ghostwritten ten books for others and now I felt it was high time to release mine. I write fantasy romance, mystery fiction, and romantic suspense. My debut novel is called CheckMate and I foresee this being a long-running series. I love plot twists and fast pace. I also appreciate witty dialogue in my books. So you will find a lot of that through my books. I also have a short back story coming up for my audience as well. Stay tuned! I am also a visual artist, so if I’m not writing I’m illustrating or creating something somewhere! I love travel, animals, and nature and you can find me with any of these three around me.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
CheckMate was inspired by a creative writing prompt at a writing class, and all of the detective TV shows I have absorbed over the years. Shows like Castle, Rizzoli and Isles, Marvel movies and Power. I procrastinated on it for a few years and then I got more serious about it in the last year. I’m so glad I did. I really enjoyed the writing process!

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I wouldn’t say unusual pretty standard. Must have coffee. Lol! I do have something on in the background when I write normally. I write in sprints sometimes and typically I have a loose outline when I start.
I do have a lot of visuals when I start so I can create a mental image. When researching for CheckMate I went ‘virtual hiking’ through a New Jersey State Park.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Soooo many. Right now I’m reading Christine Feehan, Nora Roberts, Nalini Singh, Lindsay Hall and Toni Anderson.

What are you working on now?
I’m working on two! Book 2 of the Sara Clemens Mystery and a little 5,000-word freebie called Firebomb, which is the backstory of how my main characters met.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Amazon – Currently my book is in Kindle Unlimited but I do plan on taking my books wider for distribution in the future.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Finish the book! Stop procrastinating.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Finish the book! Lol.
Also, to keep writing.

What are you reading now?
Earth Bound Christine Feehan just started.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Continuing on with my series and working on a fantasy romance collection

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Oooo that’s a tough one. I would bring The Power Of Now by Eckhart Tolle. A Nora Roberts Novel – any one. I would bring a world atlas and thick fantasy novel that would take awhile to get through

J. Leigh James

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve written stories for myself and friends since I was a child. In 2014 I took the plunge and began publishing my books on Amazon. Since then, I’ve published 7 full-length titles and 6 novellas — all young adult romances with guaranteed happy endings. Although I occasionally touch on serious topics, my stories are a fun escape from everyday life with humorous moments and feel-good endings.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is titled The Wrong James, and I came up with the title before I determined the premise of the book. I had to go to a work conference over Valentine’s Day with my boss instead of spending it with my husband. I was venting to a friend and made the statement I was spending the holiday with the wrong James. From there, I began brainstorming what story would fit the title and came up with a scenario where my main character changes assignments on a school project and accidentally switches her crush for her nemesis.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Music is a huge part of my life. Since I write my stories without plotting, one of the ways I get to know my characters and brainstorm ideas for my stories is by finding a theme song for my major characters. I’ll often imagine a music video that could be created from the scenes in my book, and whenever I hear the song, it reminds me of the character, their personality, and potential scenes in the book.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love a wide variety of genres, so it’s hard to pinpoint what authors specifically have influenced me. I will say that Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest and Kate Chopin’s The Story of an Hour and Desiree’s Baby inspired me to write stories with unexpected twists in the plot. In every story I write, I strive to add something that will surprise my readers.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on the sequel to Mistletoe Madness. Sweet Insanity has been a challenging story for me. I wrote a complete first draft and scrapped it because I didn’t enjoy the story. Now, I’m rewriting it and plan to publish it on May 1, 2020. This story follows Sage’s younger brother Hunt and his struggle to repair his relationships with his brothers while letting his talent overshadow them.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still figuring out what promotion methods work best for me. However, I have learned a lot from www.kindlepreneur.com. Dave Chesson has a wealth of resources, and I have learned a ton from him and his guest bloggers. Also, go to YouTube and search for AuthorTube videos. There are a ton of authortubers with a wealth of information, as well.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up! You will have struggles, learning curves and roadblocks. Expect that you’ll make mistakes, that there will be slow times, that not everyone will like your work. No matter what happens, if you love writing, if you have stories you want to share, then go for it! Build a community of people who will support you and keep grinding. You can do this!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Along with “don’t give up”, always keep learning. The publishing business is a strange dichotomy where some things never change and some never stay the same. There are new ways to publish, new reader expectations, new ways to promote your work. It’s important to stay on top of the trends, but not necessarily chase them. You won’t know what trends are important to you if you don’t learn about them.

What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading Maggie Dallen’s The Bet Duet series. I’m also reading Bryan Cohen’s How to Write a Sizzling Synopsis.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I plan to publish four full-length titles in 2020, and I’m playing with the idea of releasing a series of fairy tale retelling short reads. I’m stepping up my promotions and trying new ways to promote, and I’m also starting an AuthorTube channel on YouTube.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Pride and Prejudice – Jane Austen
Northanger Alibi – Jenni James
First Date – Krista McGee
Senior Week Crush – Maggie Dallen

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m extraordinarily boring. Really. Everything interesting about me goes on inside my head. In here, though, I have adventure and romance and magic! This is where I live! And you, you lucky people, get to share it through my writing. Welcome to my worlds.
The books I’ve written are “Luna,” a stand-alone sci-fi novel, “Dragonhunters,” a straight-up high fantasy story, and the “Nightlord” series. So, in total, eight books so far.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“Mobius” is the sixth book in the “Nightlord” series. “Mobius” comes from the Möbius strip, a geometric figure with only one side. It has significance for the protagonist because he has to loop around and do things over again, but whether or not he can cause—or prevent—a paradox isn’t clear.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I do it every day. Often all day. Is that unusual? I think it is. I participated in National November Writing Month a couple of times. They want you to clear 50k words in one month. When pushing for word count—just get the story down on paper, don’t worry about content, don’t worry about consistency, just tell the damn story!—I cleared well over 150k in a month. So, yeah, I guess it is an unusual writing habit in much the same way a $50,000 cocaine habit is an unusual drug habit.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’d have to go with Tolkien, Heinlein, Zelazny, E.E Smith, Frank Herbert, Sir Terry Pratchett, and Neil Gaiman. There are others, I’m sure, but those leap to mind.

What are you working on now?
Book seven in the “Nightlord” series. It doesn’t have a title, yet, but it’s a work in progress

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
So far? Amazon.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
First, you haven’t found all the typos. Read it again.
Second, no, you’re not going to be instantly rich. Assume it will flop and be pleasantly surprised if it doesn’t.
Third, if you are not a marketing person, make friends with one. Learn about it. Get good at it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Three things you must have:
A gun, a shovel, and an alibi.
Alternatively: Anyone who says you can’t just cut people out of your life doesn’t know how to sharpen a knife.

What are you reading now?
“The Many-Colored Land,” by Julian May

What’s next for you as a writer?
Book seven of the “Nightlord” series. Eventually, there will be more books in the “Dragonhunters” line—the “Shattered World” series—but it’s only one book for now! I’m hoping there will be television in the future; I’d like to see “Nightlord” come to the small screen.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
“Survival 101”
“Navigation for Dummies.”
“A History of Boatmaking.”
I have no desire to be stranded for long. I have writing to do.

Book title: Love Machine
My inspiration:

What are you working on now?
I am currently trying to market my book and now I’m starting a new book titled Castle in The Star which will also be under the genre of romantic fantasy and a little bit of history would be included.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I created one of my website which is my official author profile page. I also collaborated with a few book bloggers who were willing to help give me honest reviews. I also joined groups in goodreads for swap reviews and make acquaintances there.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
I am not a master but I want to tell adoring authors: Believe in yourself! Never Give Up!!!!!!!!!!
As for writing tips…
I think the first step you should take is to find out which genre you are best at writing in. All the best!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
From bloggers:
-start marketing even before publishing
-be bold and let a lot of people read your book
-accept criticism

What are you reading now?
The Master of his Fate

What’s next for you as a writer?
Me? Well, I think I want to focus more on my studies and improve on my writing skills to produce better work in the next book I publish.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Ooh, cool question!
I’ll bring Curse of The Evil Librarian, Master of His Fate, and Fish in a Tree( a very inspiring book too) and if possible, I would grab my book, lol

Carolyn Chambers Clark

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a nurse practitioner and ex-university professor. I wrote most of my nonfiction books because I was teaching nursing students and couldn’t find texts that suited what I was teaching. So I wrote a book on group leadership, assertiveness, management, anxiety, menopause, weight loss, self-care options for common chronic conditions and more. I even started a journal on complementary procedures and was editor-in-chief of an Encyclopedia of Complementary and Natural Practices. Three of my books son Book of the Year Awards from the American Journal of Nursing.
In fiction, I started with mystery, because I’ve always loved reading mysteries. I expanded into romance, paranormal, futuristic and more. Now I’m going back and adding the second book in my Cookie Berelli mystery series. That should be available in a couple of months on Amazon.com.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book, CANDY, MURDER, and ME, a Cozy Mystery with an Amateur Detective, and Family Recipes came to me in a dream. I woke up picturing the main character, Cookie Berelli, the energetic plus-sized dress designer who opens up her own design studio and along with it a whole bunch of trouble. Including a dead body in her design studio.
Good thing she has friend and employee, Rhonda, to help her find out who murdered her main cloth cutter and why. Oh, and she also has her pooch, a determined dachshund who complies when she asks him to approve what she wears before she goes out for the day. Because he listens to her complaints and worries as a psychoanalyst would do, she called him Sigmund Freud.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I sometimes like to listen to music or even “Too Cute” on TV about the most adorable kittens and puppies ever.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Ross Macdonald, the mystery writer who wrote close to twenty books, many of which became movies, influenced me to try and write a mystery from a woman’s viewpoing.

What are you working on now?
I am querying a young adult book inspired by the late, great humorous author who used to be a standup comedian. Her book was entitled ANGUS, THONGS and FULL-FRONT SNOGGING.
I am also querying a young adult thriller, two YA romances, a YA adventure/coming of age novel, an historical fantasy, a MG fantasy, and an adult thriller inspired by an event last year about a professor who accused a judge applying to be a Supreme Court Justice of attempted rape.

Whatever novels don’t get picked up by an agent, I’ll self-publish on Amazon and Smashwords.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use promotion vehicles recommended by AWESOME GANG to sell books and the BOOK CAVE to build an email mailing list and send a newsletter about my upcoming books and free e-books.
I also have a blog at https://CarolynChambersClarkMyBooks.blogspot.com, and an author page on Facebook at https://www.Facebook.com/CarolynChambersClarkBooks. I also belong to groups on FaceBook and and have made friends with other authors on Linked In to talk about strategies they’ve found helpful and share mine.

To keep up with my future writing pursuits and obtain free e-books, leave a comment on my author page on FaceBook or on this page and a way to contact you online.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Read, read, read, Write, write, write. Revise, revise, revise.
Also, write about what you most fear and your books will be full of emotion, which makes readers read on.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
To sell a lot of books, start a series that people will want to read.

What are you reading now?
Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder, Dare Me, and The Blind Assassin.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I have a few ideas percolating in my brain. When they become more focused, I’ll start writing them down and start a new book.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
First Aid and Surgery When There’s No Doctor

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m an Australian author with currently 14 books published.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Zombie Playlist, a post-apocalyptic action, suspense, horror, comedy, drama mash-up that WAS NOT inspired by the Coronavirus, I promise. I wrote this book 2 years ago, and it was while listening to the Cranberries ‘Zombie’ at a set of traffic lights that the idea of a music-inspired book came to me.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m a lazy writer. I don’t rush my words and I don’t write to public buying demand. I write was inspires me, and sometimes it takes a while…because I’m lazy LOL

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Kresley Cole, Gena Showalter, Jamie McGuire…these are all authors whose words I devour as soon as they hit my kindle.

What are you working on now?
I’m dabbling between two novels…Letting Go, which is the sixth book in my Mercy’s Angels Series (a collection of books that dives deep into the subject of violence against women)…and an as-yet-unnamed book about a violent girl with an antisocial personality disorder. The character itself has been a strong voice in my head…the plot is developing as we go.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Ahhh, the golden unicorn in marketing. There is no such thing, and definitely no such ONE thing. What works for me when publishing and marketing a book is a combination of classy, professional graphics, a release tour hosted by a professional marketing company, and pounding the pavement. And by that, I mean connecting with readers and bloggers, and scrolling through hundreds of google marketing sites to find ones that offer low cost and efficient advertising in an effort to flood the literary world with my book.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write your book over and over, until you’ve got a high quality, finished manuscript, then get a GOOD, professional editor. Then get an even better graphics artist to create your cover. Reach out to authors who write in similar genres and introduce yourself. Ask questions, be kind.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write drunk, edit sober… LOL

What are you reading now?
Nothing. I’m honestly going through a dry spell when it comes to books. I am writing though, so that is a plus.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m hoping to work on another film. My last co-write and script edit was on the horror film, BOAR. It released through Universal Pictures in 2018. That was an epic adventure!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Lothaire by Kresley Cole…Acheron by Sherilynn Kenyon and The Bronze Horseman by Paulina Simmons

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My day job is sales for a lighting company. I am husband to a loving wife and father to a wonderful daughter. This is my first book, so being a self-published author is new to me. Just enjoying the journey and looking forward to much success.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Mya and the Magic Feather is my first book. It is inspired by my amazing daughter Mya. She is 3 years old and a beacon of light. So curious, energetic and imaginative. One night while reading bedtime stories I thought to myself that it would be pretty cool to write a story for her to enjoy and here we are.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
In general, I am unorthodox. I think of rhymes or sentences then build a story from there. I don’t really have a theme fleshed out until later. I write then put together from there.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love Margaret Wise Brown, Dr. Seuss and H.A. Rey. So Goodnight Moon, all of Dr. Seuss and Curious George have been my biggest influences. I appreciate the abstract thinking of Seuss, the warmth of Brown and the adventure for Rey.

What are you working on now?
Currently, I am adding to the series of Mya’s Magic Adventures with two more additions so stay tuned. Additionally, I will have some sales books so anyone within the business world can stay tuned as well.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
This is my first venture into being an author so I have gone to Amazon to self-publish. I learned about Awesome Gang through Kindlepreneur.com so this is part of my promotion.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
My only advice for new authors or anyone in general is to be authentic. Be true to your passion and beliefs. Be focused, plan your work. Have goals and you’ll be successful.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I have gotten is that a positive mind state is the key to success. If you think you will succeed then you will. If you think you’ll fail, then you will. It’s all about positivity.

What are you reading now?
Currently, I am reading Napoleon Hill – Think and Grow Rich and Cuddly Piglet to my daughter at bedtime.

What’s next for you as a writer?
As a writer, I am striving to get better at my craft. Trust myself. Trust the creative process and put out more children’s literature and sales literature. Otherwise, my goal is to live happily everyday, love my family unconditionally and enjoy the journey.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Mind Hacking – John Hargrave, The Purpose Drive Life – Rick Warren, The Secret – Rhonda Byrne

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hello! Nice to meet you! I am a Canadian, UK, Swedish citizen living in Sweden. I grew up in the countryside with not much more than my imagination to occupy me. I have been crafting stories ever since I was a child.

I particularly love to write about the complexities of love and one’s mortality. I tend toward sci-fi/fantasy in my writing because I love quantum physics, the multiverse theory and that time is just a concept. This gives me a lot to play with, and the freedom to explore love stories outside the framework of death and the constriction of linear time.

Altogether, since 2016 I have published five books. I am currently working on my sixth and have plans for my seventh.

My books tend to be quite meaty. The three books in the Transcendence series (of which The Lost Valor of Love is the first) are of epic length. The first two books are about 150k words each and the final book is 220k words.

I publish under the imprint Arundel House Press.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Rise of the Goddess was released in paperback Feb 2020. It is the final book of the Transcendence Series (which begins with The Lost Valor of Love, and continues with The Call of Eternity).

While on one of my many trips to Luxor in Dec 2003, I dreamed of an epic love affair during the New Kingdom period. Initially, it was Ahmen and Meresamun’s story, but Sethi and Istara were in there, too, as was the battle at Kadesh. It was vivid and lasted most of the night. As I woke to the sun rising over the Nile and more than three thousand years slammed back into me, I heard these words: Tell the story. Do not let it die.

It was a big ask. It took five years of research, (and imagine my vindication when I found out Ahmen was a real person just as I had dreamed, including his position as Pharaoh Ramesses’s chariot driver).

All told it took me sixteen years to research and write the full series. At last it has come full circle. I hope I have done the story justice.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
If I get stuck. I stop, go for a walk, cook or just watch Netflix. I find if I ignore the problem, it resolves itself at the strangest moments. The answer has come while cooking onions, or in the shower, or out driving. Just like that. Solutions to writing problems tend to be like cats, I have found if I chase after them they run away, but if I ignore them, they turn up when one least expects it!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Donna Tartt, The Goldfinch
Anthony Doerr, All the Light We Cannot See
Hans Christian Andersen, The Little Mermaid
David Brin, Earth
Carl Sagan, Billions & Billions
Joan Didion, The Year of Magical Thinking
Circe, Madeline Miller
Arthur C. Clarke, Rama

What are you working on now?
My current work in progress, I, Cassandra was inspired by how fast our world is changing societally and environmentally. I wanted to peer into the near future where climate change has shattered most of the world and only a select few are allowed to live in enclaves built in Greenland and the far north of Canada. Also I love a good love story, so crafted that into it…so far I think it’s pretty delicious…you can get a sneak peak of it on my website under the heading I, Cassandra

Here’s a bit about it.

Year 12127. An elite soldier wakes up from cryogenic freeze in a world he does not recognise. As he wanders, alone, through vast ruins overgrown with vegetation, he tries to piece together what happened to the planet he left behind. When he finds a battered safe, he determines to find a way to open it, desperate to connect with something, anything, from the world he lost.

Year 2086. In a world divided between the select few living in privilege and the billions left to survive on a dying planet, Cassandra’s ability to predict global disasters marks her as valuable asset. Lost in a terrorist attack, she is discovered in the ruins of London by an elite soldier who does not know who she is until far too late, and he too becomes an asset owned by faceless powers.

As the world around them collapses from the greed of humanity, he fights to protect the one he loves, to save her from what is to come, and to give her a second chance . . . no matter the cost.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Actually I began by posting my first book The Lost Valor of Love on Wattpad, where it now has over a million reads. It has been reduced to a sample now, but it won numerous awards there and was even featured by Wattpad HQ who took me onto their talent team. I gained a big fan base, but so far it has mostly been word of mouth. Since I completed the series, I have moved away from Wattpad, and am looking for new ways to reach readers, to let the world know about my books.

Besides reaching out to awesome gang, I use AMS ads, my social media presence, contests, giveaways, and enter book contests. I am about to go on a book tour with Silver Dagger tours in April as well. I think I will give BookBub a try, even though its pricey. You never know!

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Observe constantly. Think about describing things as you experience them, such as the sound of tires on a rain swept road.

I think it’s important to remember that stories are sacred, they belong to the characters. It is the author’s job to respect their story, and tell it as authentically as we can.

Make sure to understand the ‘scaffolding’ of writing, the grammar, POV’s, dialogue, brevity in sentences, the meaning behind Chekov’s gun, everything matters. Writing is so different from speaking, it’s another language altogether and one must learn its structure to develop a powerful voice.

Never stop writing. Ever. Every word one writes takes them that much closer to the stories that long to be told.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
As someone who writes about love and all its facets, I would have to say the best advice I have ever heard is to do with love.

“If they like you, you’ll know. If they don’t, you’ll be confused.”

What are you reading now?
Actually I am just about to start a new book The Kommandant’s Girl by Pan Jenoff. I am really looking forward to it.

What’s next for you as a writer?
When I complete I, Cassandra, I have a plan for another sci-fi, historical fantasy.

‘The man behind the military might of Thutmose III, Commander of the Army, Thanuny. An elite soldier from the future who will stop at nothing to find the love he lost in the past.”

Thanuny is an elite soldier from the future (whose task is to time travel and tweak the course of history) who lost the woman he loves (a fellow elite soldier) in the 13th century BC Egypt, so he strands himself in the distant past to find her and love her again…

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

Michael Bolinger

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Michael Bolinger and I have done technical writing most of my life. Over the years, I’ve written numerous technology documents, manuals and user guides and recently published a science fiction novel.

I was born in Iowa and grew up in a large, blended family. We were like the Partridge family except we had ten children instead of only six. In my adult life, I served on the board of a local Habitat for Humanity affiliate for twelve years helping families in substandard living conditions realize their dream of owning their own home. My hobbies include reading, traveling, writing science fiction, poetry and listening to music.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my book is “The Doxan.” After years of writing non-fiction I was wanting to try something different. I was also wanting to write at my leisure rather than on a deadline. Because of my interest in science and technology, a science fiction novel appealed to me.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I find that writing in different settings tends to take the monotony out of the process and helps the creative juices flow. I’ve written at airports, on planes, on cruise ships, in cars (as a passenger on road trips), in the doctor’s office waiting room, at the park, on my patio, and probably in every room in my house.

Whenever I’m away from my laptop for an extended period, such as when I travel or sit in the park, I usually take a notebook with me to capture any thoughts related to my current writing project. Also, I keep a notebook on my bedside table to capture thoughts and ideas that come to me in the night.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Dan Brown, James A. Michener, C.S. Lewis

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on the sequel to “The Doxan.”

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Amazon Marketing Services

Do you have any advice for new authors?
To hone your writing skill: Write on a daily basis.
To increase your learning: Read on a daily basis.
To spark creativity: Brainstorm frequently (individually or with others).

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Live at peace with everyone

What are you reading now?
Journey by James Michener

What’s next for you as a writer?
Finish the (as yet untitled) sequel to “The Doxan” and become a best-selling author (not necessarily in that order).

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
A survival book, a book on how to build boats, and a book on nautical navigation by the stars.

Joanna White

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a Christian author who delves into fantasy adventures and writes to inspire others and to create clean books that can lead people to Christ. I’ve been writing since I was ten, so as of 2019, I had well over 50 books written, but this year, I’m writing a million words in a year, so I have written 4 novels since January 1, 2020, so my count has probably gotten higher.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The First Pendragon is a sequel to my book called The First Pendragon and it was inspired by legends of King Arthur. I wanted to do my own take on the legends and go to back even further – before King Arthur and Excalibur and create an entire mythology and plotline revolving around dragons at war with the modern world.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not particularly except that since January 1, 2020, I have been writing 4,000 words every day to try to write a million words in 2020. I sit down between 7 pm central and 7:30 pm central and keep writing until I hit 4,000 words. Today is actually the first day I took off (which is fine because a few times I wrote 9,000 words and doubled it, so I’ve earned a few days off).

What authors, or books have influenced you?
The Bible is my main influence thanks to God and His inspiration. But I’m heavily inspired by TV Shows more than anything else these days since I don’t have much time to read.

What are you working on now?
I’m writing a million words in a year, so I have about 23 or 24 books fully outlined, so that way I can go from one to another, or if I get writer’s block in one, I can write in another and still write 4,000 words every day.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Story Origin and Pinterest!

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never give up. It’s going to be hard and you’re going to want to feel like giving up – trust me – but don’t! It takes a lot of time, hard work, and patience all for very little reward but stick with it and write because you’re passionate about it and I promise you it will get better.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
To trust God. He is the reason why I have been able to accomplish everything I have. He’s the reason why I write, why I have this passion and gift, and where my stories and their ideas come from.

What are you reading now?
Currently, I’m not reading anything; I really don’t have the time this year, but I have a ton of books I look forward to reading from authors like Ariel Paiement and others.

What’s next for you as a writer?
The Valiant Series Book Three, Samurai, will be published next year, so I hope to start working on it with my publisher soon. I’m self-publishing The Crystal Heist in August and right now, I’m running a kickstarter to fund my own website ebook store.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, probably some of my own, and a laptop to write more!
