Awesome Author - Collin Glavac

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a Canadian Niagara-based writer and I’ve just released my first book. I am working on more! I come from a theater background, so I have also written, directed, and performed in a couple of my own plays.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Ghosts of Guatemala! My father had some ideas for a CIA spythriller taking place in Antigua City, because he spends a lot of time in Latin America and really loves the culture and language. Also, Jason Bourne.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write non-linearly, starting with all the pieces I know exist before trying to sew it all up. I don’t feel like I’m really writing until I am sitting on ten chapters or so, and trying to figure out how they all fit together and what I need to write to get there.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
The Halo series taught me books could be cool; Christopher Paolini’s Eragon taught me not to wait to get old; Stephen King’s On Writing taught me how to be taken seriously; K. A. Applegate’s Animorphs taught me books can be as dark as you like, S. M. Stirling taught me to do your research and write from the heart, Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game taught me how to write character thoughts, Vertigo Comics’ Hellblazer taught me what magic really is, and Nick Sagan’s Idlewild taught me how to write something that makes the reader softly whisper ‘wow.’

What are you working on now?
I am working on a teen urban-fantasy, first in the series. The book follows a young highschooler protagonist who inherits a storage locker of magical items. Unfortunately magic is just as dangerous as it is secret, and to solve his mother’s murder, our main character has to lie, cheat, steal, and bargain through angels, demons, and math class.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Right now Amazon, because it allows me to be self-published with ease and little take.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write a book, worry about the rest after.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you put in the effort, you don’t have anything to worry about.

What are you reading now?
Brandon Sanderson’s Words of Radiance, George R. R. Martin’s Nightflyers, and Neil Shusterman’s The Toll. I mostly read sci-fi and fantasy.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to write the first in a new series and genre, then write the second in my spythriller trilogy. I also want to learn more about self-publishing and send out feelers for traditional publishing.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Four survival manuals. Burn three, use the fourth.

Alright fine, I’ll play:

A NRSV Bible
S. M. Stirling’s Dies the Fire
AND A SURVIVAL MANUAL

Awesome Author - Carolyn King

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Carolyn King specializes in writing dating advice, hoping to educate the couples out there on the meaning of love and how they can overcome their relationship issues with the correct mindset. Having listened and dealt with different couples previously on the kind of relationship issues they experienced, she decided it would be beneficial for couples to have a framework to work out various problems that arise in a romantic relationship. For now, she has written books titled – “How To Heal A Broken Heart,” “How To Know If He Is The Right Guy For You” and “Trust Issues – Build Everlasting Bonds Of Love With A 12 Day Strategy.”

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book is “How To Heal A Broken Heart” which is current sold at major bookstores including Apple – https://books.apple.com/us/book/how-to-heal-a-broken-heart/id1483166909. It was inspired by my heartfelt desire to help people overcome a relationship split quickly and recover from their doldrums and grievances in good time. Many people tend to dwell on the past which is not healthy and may lead to depression and that’s something we would not want to see in others around us. Hence, I would love for others to get on their feet as fast as they can and move on in pursuit of a better life and new relationship goals if possible.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Well, I don’t think I have any quirky writing habits that are of peculiar interest to anyone. I just enjoy piecing information together in a straightforward and concise manner and delivering it to my readers in layman terms so that the gist of the material covered is easily absorbed and understood.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have really enjoyed reading Andre Garcia’s book about “Why Men Love Classy Chicks” which is quite inspiring in terms of helping women to level up their confidence and move away from men who are controlling their ability to think for themselves which is not really healthy in a relationship that’s supposed to work on mutual respect and reciprocal love. I have also been reading other relationship books which have been quite refreshing to me as their ideas may differ from mine, from time to time.

What are you working on now?
Currently, I am taking a break from writing and searching for my next inspirational book.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am a low profile person so I don’t actively promote my books. I prefer that people chance upon my books and become more well endowed in terms of knowledge about the dating world after reading my books.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just stick to your passion and write as much as you can, irregardless of what others may think of your writing.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Listen to your heart!

What are you reading now?
I am currently reading up on Regency novels to spice up the feel of romance which I may not get in real life. I see it as a way of rejuvenating myself. I also opt for nonfiction books at times when I need to improve my knowledge in certain areas.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Doing research on my next subject area if my inspiration arrives!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Why Men Love Classy Chicks by Andre Garcia
Red Flags – Is Distrust Tearing Your Marriage Apart by Titania Hudson
Never Chase Men Again by Bruce Bryans
Get Him To Marry You In 12 Steps by Tiffany Davis

Awesome Author - Riley Wells

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have just published my first book with Amazon. I was born and raised in the beautiful “Mitten” state of Michigan by a single mother, after the death of my father in 1984. I spent many years in search of my own identity after enduring years of abuse from those that claimed to care for me. After a much long walk with depression, I finally found a pathway of healing. I now advocate for those that have lost their own voice, helping them to find their value, helping them along their own personal journey, and teaching them how to find triumph after the tears.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest (and only) book is called “My Shattered Mirror: Finding the path to healing amidst the broken pieces.” This book was inspired by the different forms of trauma I have experienced since early childhood. For many years, I ran from my story since I often found it easier to bury, than to face it and learn how to cope with the pain. After many years, I finally found my way to healing and now I advocate for others that have lost their own voice in the face of trauma.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to art journal. Often times I will find a quote or picture that I want to capture and remember, so I will write it in a journal to later go back to for inspiration on days I find to be a struggle.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I like to read a variety of genre’s. I think we can truly learn from each other’s experiences, so biography’s and self-help books intrigue me, as well as any type of book that will lead us to a better understanding of one another.

What are you working on now?
I am currently starting my next venture, my second book. This book will touch on how we seem to always run in circles but never go anywhere, based on our repeated patterns in life. The book breaks down how to break the cycle and to find personal growth in the process.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Since this is my first book, it is still a learning curve for me. I am always learning from others that have more experience in this area, and I am always open to any suggestions that come along my way.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Research. Research. Research. I thought I knew a lot, until I realized I didn’t.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Believe in something or you will fall for anything.

What are you reading now?
I am currently in the process of reading a book called “Mentor for life” by Natasha Sistrunk Robinson.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Finding more ways to help others tell their story, and to find healing in their own journey.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, “How to Survive on a Deserted Island” by Tim O’Shei, Al Siebert, “A Walk to Remember” by Nicholas Sparks, and “Message in a Bottle” by Nicholas Sparks.

Awesome Author - Kassie Cox

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Kassie Cox, I’ve been writing since I was ten years old! My dream has always been to have a paperback of something I’ve written and after graduating college with a degree in 3D Animation and VFX for Film, I decided ow was the time to make that dream happen! I’ve only finished one book, but have been a whirlwind of ideas and inspiration since I was a child!

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My Lycan Mate.
My inspiration was the fact that I was tired of reading books with weak female characters. I was tired of seeing the classic “Abusive Alpha hurts mate but eventually changes and they live happily ever after”. So, I made a world where my characters didn’t do that!

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
When I write on paper I ever capitalize “I”. My English teacher hated that about me!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Stephanie Meyers for certain. The Host is my most read books (I own two copies).
A huge book that inspired me has to be the Court of Thorns ad Roses. I loved the world so much, the characters and the growth of the main characters. Nothing compares to them.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on a book full of romance, love triangles, and curses!

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My Instagram is kncbooks or Wattpad name is @ riskybizzzz

Do you have any advice for new authors?
To be successful, make connections. Starting off on Wattpad gave me the opportunity to start a base of people who enjoyed my work. Eventually I got over one million reads and by the time I published to Amazon I got 40 downloads in 2 days SIMPLY from people I’d spoken to on Wattpad. Be nice and social to ANYONE who shows interest in your work! Have real conversations! Don’t thrust your work onto people, create friendships and you’ll get so much out of it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I suppose this isn’t advice, but it did help me in my writing. I read somewhere that “You don’t always have to agree with your characters choices.” After that, my writing became one hundred times better. My morals didn’t get in the way of a great story any longer!

What’s next for you as a writer?
My next step is to continue writing and reading. I’ve begun the outline, getting the situations and the characters down. Picking names seems to be my huge issue this go around!
Overall, I’ll just keep pumping out content and getting stuff done!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Host, some random survival book, Diabolic, and something about desert islands.

Awesome Author - Adrienne Barker

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I wrote my first book after years of being emotionally abused by my siblings in the family business.
I am 57 years old and grew up in the family business. I am a senior branding marketing manager selling promotional products. I am also an International Protocol and Corporate Etiquette Consultant. I left the family business three years ago when I found out my brother cheated on his wife, twice, with female employees in the family business.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Head Down. Shut Up.
After years of hearing the words “No One Likes You”, “No one Respects You”, No One Can Work with You” and many more comments meant to knock me down.
The book shares how I fought through their words and stood up for myself by leaving the family business and great pay, car, insurance, everything wonderful that my parents wanted me to have. I made sure to not become a victim of a pathologically narcissistic person.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t think so, but maybe I do?

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Dr. Wayne Dyer

What are you working on now?
My next book: Words Hurt!

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I used Amazon/Kindle

Do you have any advice for new authors?

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
When someone talks about someone else, they are usually talking about themselves.

What are you reading now?

What’s next for you as a writer?
I would like to create a TED Talk and go on the road to share my story.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

Awesome Author - Kady Oliker

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a lover of all things books. We’ve official run out of room in our house for more books, or that’s what my husband has told me. I’ve written two children’s books in the Kippi series and three young adult novels, which I’m currently working on getting into the world.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The book is called Kippi the Conqueror: Beyond the Clouds. It’s the first in the Kippi series, which is designed to help children over come their fears. Beyond the Clouds tackles the topic of death in a light and whimsical way, and helps children deal with the loss of a loved one. After my grandfather passed away, I had a hard time coping. I thought to myself, if I’m a grown woman struggling with this concept, what must a child be feeling? Thus, Kippi the Conqueror was born.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I try to write at least 1000 words a day, doesn’t matter where. Sometimes sitting under a blanket, like a fort, makes me get inside the mind of a child more, so I guess you could consider that unusual. I also always write the endings first.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m a huge Jodi Picoult fan and have just discovered Megan Miranda. I’ve always looked to them for inspiration when writing my young adult books. For children’s books, I’ve always gravitated towards Dr. Seuss and Judy Blume.

What are you working on now?
I’m in the middle of Kippi’s second adventure which deals with monsters under the bed. I also have two young adult novels in the works, both of which should be done by the new year.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Getting out there and meeting people. I’m always afraid to put myself out there, but I’ve realized it’s the best way to get the word out and I’m working on it every day.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never stop writing! Even if you think it’s crap, just keep writing, because it’s so much easier to edit a bad page than a blank page.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Not everyone is going to like your work. If it doesn’t stir up a little controversy, it’s shit. -Terry McDermott

What are you reading now?
I just finished Megan Miranda’s The Next House Guest. It’s wonderful, by the way. I’m just starting A Double Life by Flynn Berry.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Trying to promote Kippi as much as possible, and get my young adult novels out there!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Great Gatsby
Anything by Edgar Allan Poe
The Book Thief

Awesome Author - Khidra Kay

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a writer, introvert and gamer. I live a fairly boring life and like it that way. When I want excitement I want it from the safety of my own home via reading or writing.
As of December 2019, I’ve written three books and two short stories. My main focus is on the Berender-trilogy: Stone of Power, Demise of a Legend and Fire or Blood.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Demise of a Legend is the latest book I’ve published and I’m currently editing Fire or Blood, the third book in the Berender-trilogy.
I’ve always enjoyed long fantasy series and whenever I get to the end of one I get sad. So I decided to write one for myself. Of course, this is a longterm project so I’m dividing it into trilogies for a more pleasant reading experience. (An unfinished series can be a real bummer.)
Robert Jordan, Terry Pratchett, and Terry Goodkind have all inspired me to create a world of my own. Every day I see indie authors working hard and gaining success and that inspires me to work harder.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write on a desktop. Yes, I know. Nobody does that anymore, but I prefer it. Besides that, I don’t have many habits surrounding my writing. I prefer to do it in the morning and for about an hour at a time.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve read Gone with the Wind several times. And Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice. And of course Wheel of Time and Sword of Truth. These are all worlds that I got to be a part of.

What are you working on now?
Right now, I’m editing the third book, Fire or Blood, and planning out the next trilogy.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I struggle with promotion and marketing. Getting eyes on my books is harder than I ever thought it would be, especially with a very limited budget. (I do like awesomegang though 😉 )

Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice for new authors is the usual; read a lot, write a lot, and never stop learning.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Something might take a long time to do, but that time will pass whether or not you do it.
Say it’ll take you five years to write a book/learn to play the piano/get a degree. Yes, it’s a long time, but in five years that time will have passed. Where will you be? Have you accomplished your goal or did you think it would take too long?

What are you reading now?
I just finished Thirteen Reasons Why. I have a huge TBR list but I’m not sure which book to choose next.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Next up for me is more writing. And learning about my weak point: marketing.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I were to be stranded on a desert island I’d bring Pride and Prejudice, Gone with the Wind, and Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Add to that either a survival guide or a new fantasy book.

Awesome Author - Cynthia Ulmer

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I come from a family of story tellers. My grandmother used to make up stories to tell my daddy and his siblings to entertain them. I grew up with my parents making up stories to tell me and them listening to the ones I made up. I created, but didn’t write, my very first “series” before I started school. It was called the Grumpfaires, about the Big Bad Wolf’s background, and yes, it was spelled Grumpfaires. When I got old enough to write, that’s how I spelled it. My sister used to draw pictures for it and I wrote the story. I can remember following my parents around telling them about Big Bad and his brother, Breeze who was a good wolf. Big Bad was eventually arrested for blowing the little pigs homes over and for punishment he had to huff and puff on peoples clotheslines to dry their laundry. I had a very active imagination.
I wrote my first full length novel when I was a freshman in high school. Later, I thought it was no good so I tore it up and swore to never write again.
I couldn’t get away from the stories that kept coming into my head. So I begin to write again years later after I was married. I woke up one night, seeing a young boy walking down the dirt road of a farm. I recognized the farm as my granddaddy’s. In the background, way off in the distance was an old fashioned water well, looking deceptively innocent. I woke up and knew the story I had to write.
As a child, I used to listen to my aunt and my father talk about their neighbor who was an alcoholic and held his children over the well, threatening to drop them to their deaths when he got angry with them. His wife would come get my granddaddy to help her talk him out of killing whichever child he had over the well.
That was the inspiration of my first book, Todd, and from there the story grew and became The Cedar Cove Chronicles.
I have published 6 novels, all part of the Cedar Cove Chronicles. Todd, Book One, Clyde and Wanda, Book Two, Cella, Book Three, Trudy, Book Four, Mark, Book Five and Lilly Jean, Book Six.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Lilly Jean, The Cedar Cove Chronicles, Book Six. It brings the story of the community of Cedar Cove full circle. In book one, Lilly Jean is only five, and she is the one who suffers unjustly at the hands of their alcoholic neighbors. Afterwards, her parents, become overly protective of her and always see her as their baby. When book six opens, she is getting ready to graduate from high school and has been accepted into nursing school, something she has kept secret from her family. Book six chronicles her maturing and her family struggling with the fact that their baby is no longer a baby but a grown woman. They also face people from their past, people they have great distrust for, but have to learn how to live with them again.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Honestly, I’m not sure. I do not force myself to write every day. I’ve tried that and what comes out is absolute junk. So I do write when inspired, which goes against most of the advice I’ve read. But I have to be me. It has to be from the stories flowing in my head. When that’s happening, I just watch the words come up on the computer screen.
I do like to get all alone, have a good cup of flavored coffee and just let the words flow.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Betty Smith and Harper Lee. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and To Kill a Mockingbird are my absolute favorites of all time. I also love Stephen King. His short stories are some of the best ever. I love the way he pulls the reader in, of how you feel a part of what’s going on.

What are you working on now?
I’m working on a follow up series to the Cedar Cove Chronicles. It’s called Beyond Cedar Cove and I want it to contain three novels, but we will see. The first book will be The Broken Circle, Beyond Cedar Cove, Book One, and the next Underneath the Honeysuckle Vine, Beyond Cedar Cove, Book Two. After that, who knows.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m learning about all that. Right now I’m working with Cat Lyon of Cat’s Reading and Writing Den.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up and don’t try to be like anyone else. Be yourself.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Keep writing. Believe in yourself.

What are you reading now?
The Secrets of Lost Stones by Melissa Payne

What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope to keep writing and to be more successful with my work.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Holy Bible, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, To Kill A Mockingbird, any of Stephen King’s short story collections along with a big box of paper and some pens or pencils so I could write too.

Awesome Author - D C Mallery

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi! I write novels, screenplays, and short fiction. Mostly thrillers, horror and sci-fi.

Darksight is my first published novel. A few others are in the works.

Here are some of my short stories: The Trauma Eater appeared in Sanitarium Magazine; Ellie was published in Lamplight; Fireworks and a Kiss at the End of Time and Installation #17 both appeared in Bards and Sages Quarterly. My horror story The Frequency of Souls will appear in an upcoming issue of Ghostlight: The Magazine of Terror.

Many, many thanks to these magazines for publishing those stories!

I’m thrilled that my screenplay, Emergence, was awarded second place for Feature Screenplay at 2018 VisionFest.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Darksight was inspired by a very real medical phenomena called blindsight. It’s the amazing ability that some individuals with cortical blindness have to “see” objects they can’t see. With that type of blindness, the retina and optic nerves still function, but the part of the brain that processes vision — the visual cortex — is badly damaged. Yet some people with cortical blindness are still “aware” of objects they can’t consciously see. That is, they see without seeing.

Darksight takes blindsight to new and terrifying levels.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I try to dictate stories into my phone when I’m out and about. Doesn’t always work. But the results can be hilarious. Every third word gets mangled into something else!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Michael Crichton was a big influence. He could take real medical phenomena and state-of-the-art science and craft gripping thrillers.

And I greatly admire Ray Bradbury for his elegant prose and the humanity of his stories.

What are you working on now?
Next up is a novel called Artemesia. Three damaged individuals — each suffering a different kind of phantom pain — are caught in the web of the young and mysterious Artemesia.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Goodreads. NetGalley. And Awesome Gang, of course!

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Well, get an agent if you can. Mine is Lisa Abellera at Kimberley Cameron & Associates.

Many, many thanks to her for all her hard work!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t fear the comma splice. It’s your friend.

What are you reading now?
Catching up on some vintage sci-fi: The Demolished Man by Alfred Bester.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I need to get that novel Artemesia out into the world.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Lord of the Rings, since it’s nice and long. And a how-to book on how to construct a boat from palm fronds. And a book on how to swim, of course, for when the boat sinks.

Awesome Author - Faas Kramer

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a Dutchman who grew up in Yorkshire, living in Belgium.
A paraplegic since 1981, I love being creative, including writing. While I work full time to pay the bills, I escape into the mind of a my pseudonym FAAS KRAMER who I’ve been told, has a very wicked mind indeed.

Under my real name, Servaas Kamerling, in 2003, I published a humerous collection of stories of my experiences in a wheelchair. In 2014 I self-published my first novel in English called DEATH COMES TWICE. DEATH IS A CHALLENGE followed in 2017 and around Christmas, I expect to publish my third: DEATH IS A RIDDLE.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
DEATH IS A RIDDLE, due out soon, actually followed a dream I had in which I was seduced and tied up by a vindictive vixen of a woman. I’m not sure of the deeper meaning of the dream, but the play of characters inspired me to build a story around it.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really. I write when time allows. I do find that alcohol helps to fantasise and coffee helps to structure, but I guess that is not only restricted to writing.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Many. But if I had to single out a top five:
1984 – George Orwell
Trinity – Leon Uris
The Day of the Jackal – Frederick Forsyth
The Source – James Michener
Tales of the unexpected – Roald Dahl

What are you working on now?
DEATH IS A RIDDLE. The book has largely returned from the editor and I’m just dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s. I aim to publish by end-this-year. I already have ideas for more novels, but one step at a time.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Quite honestly this is a challenge. There are many sites, many options, also to self-market. I’m hoping that Awesome Gang can help create some exposure, but with so many aspiring writers out there, I’m sceptical. So please prove me wrong…;-)

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t do it for money. Don’t do it for fame. Do it because you love writing. Publishing a book offers a magnificent sense of achievement even if no one reads it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Leave more to the imagination of the reader

What are you reading now?
Two books: Biography on Michael Jordan and The Fox by Frederick Forsyth

What’s next for you as a writer?
I have several ideas for a new novel. Once I complete and launch DEATH IS A RIDDLE, I’ll contemplate which idea I will tackle.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
All my FAAS KRAMER novels. They are full of suspense and excitement. Besides, I could still try to pick out any faults I still find.

Awesome Author - Kevin Hover

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m from Columbus, Ohio, and I’m happily married to my lovely wife Carrie. We have three daughters; Meredith, Chloe, and Sarah. When I have free time, I love to exercise, run, mountain bike, fish, and hunt. Although I enjoy reading, I wouldn’t consider myself an avid reader. I try to read approximately one book per month. If I had to choose, I prefer writing over reading.

I graduated from The Ohio State University in 1995 with a B.S. in Business Administration. I worked in the corporate world for over twenty-two years in the financial services industry and served as Senior Vice President in the institutional banking division at Citigroup. Although I was very successful from a worldview standpoint, I never felt like my talents were being used to my full potential. My wife and I began praying for direction, and over a period of time, it became very clear that I was to leave the corporate world altogether, and begin pursuing a career as an author and life coach.

I have written one book and I’m currently working on 2 other books. One is a Christian Fiction book, the other is a book on Marriage that I am co-writing for my wife’s marriage counselling practice.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My first book was published November 1, 2019 and is entitled ‘American Pharisee: Overcoming the Beliefs That Deceive’. It is a Christian non-fiction book on how our pursuit of the American Dream competes against our pursuit of Christ. The end result is a weak faith where the person thinks they are following Christ, but in reality, they are following their own pursuits of happiness, comfort, and success.

I was inspired to write this book because of my own life experiences and how I was being deceived by the false belief that nothing is wrong with pursuing happiness, comfort, and success. In reality, these pursuits can easily turn into idolatry, and draw us away from God. And this form of idolatry is so subversive because these things are not sinful in and of themselves. They only become sinful when we begin to prefer them over God. Not to mention, the desire for happiness, comfort, and success are so ingrained within our American culture. In my opinion, the most prevalent sin committed by the American Christian is preferring the American Dream over God. That is why Christianity in America is flat-lining. The majority of believers are forsaking God for the “good and nice” life.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I love this question, because Authors, by nature, are an unusual group of people!! So any unusual writing habits are likely considered normal by the Author:)

One of the habits I wish I could break is editing my work while I’m trying to free-write. This habit slows down the process so much, but I can’t seem to break the habit. On the positive side, editing while I write allows me to refine what I’m attempting to communicate. This plays well to my writing style which is one of deep thought/concepts.

Another writing habit I have is either writing outdoors or in a remote location where I can look out at a scenic view. I’m always inspired by God’s wonderful creation!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Tony Evans, Francis Chan, David Platt, Kyle Idleman, A.W. Tozer, and Charles Spurgeon are all authors that have had a huge impact in my faith walk and what I write about.

What are you working on now?
My number one priority is promoting my new book. A close second is growing my life coaching practice.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m new at this, so I’m trying a little bit of everything! I’m blogging, doing facebook ads, and doing a lot of research on the internet.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Persistence is key. Whatever you do, don’t give up. The hard work is worth it, and it is so rewarding when you finally hold a copy of your book in your hands.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
As it relates to writing, my mentor, Kary Oberbrunner, told me, “The creative process is messy.” Therefore, we must embrace the messiness and press on.

As it relates to life, the best advice I have heard, “If anyone is to come after me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” – Jesus Christ

What are you reading now?
‘The Unsaved Christian’ by Dean Inserra

What’s next for you as a writer?
Continue to promote ‘American Pharisee’, and increase my online presence by blogging. Beginning to work on book number 2 is still about a year away.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Holy Bible, Knowledge of the Holy by A.W. Tozer, and ‘Hearing God’ by Dallas Willard

Awesome Author - Sarah Stuart

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
“Sarah Stuart is an award-winning author whose books are based on her show business experience, her concern for animals, the challenges of her Christian faith, and her passions for history and travel.” That’s the official version, but why not? It’s the succinct truth. To date, I’ve published seven books and had stories published in four anthologies. I am a Christian, which makes Richard and Maria easy to write about; they belong to the Church of England. Margaret Tudor was a Catholic, so most of the characters in the Royal Command Family Saga are too. Fortunately, a rector friend of mine knows a priest – you’ll see how important that is when you get to “advice for new authors”!

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Royal Command Family Saga: Plus Sizzling Sunset. I was working on two short stories for a horror anthology, Depths of Darkness, when I started to see more and more Boxed Sets being published. I approached my cover designer, and she used the cover of book one, Dangerous Liaisons, on the front, and the backs, with the four titles to the left. There was nothing wrong with it, but I wanted “different”. The result, after a lot of input from my Facebook Royal Command Family Saga group, was so different I changed the inside. There is only one copyright page, and I cut all the dedications. All the TOC (table of contents) contains are five titles. The four multi-award-winning novels and an exclusive new novella, Sizzling Sunset.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I thought of Winston Churchill standing at his desk, remembered I have a damaged knee, and opted for the great man’s other idea – working in bed. Not, I hasten to add, nonstop. I think best walking beside the river, and I have a Weimaraner happy to come with me and not interrupt by asking questions.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Mary Stewart (This Rough Magic, Nine Coaches Waiting) who actually read my first novel and told me what was wrong with it – lots, and it was never published, but her tips were invaluable.
Dick Francis (Driving Force, For Kicks)
They couldn’t be more different – the queen of romantic suspense and a winner of the Golden Dagger, but both wrote fast-paced, character-driven, novels, and that’s something I’ve developed, and it works for me.

What are you working on now?
The third book in my Christian Richard and Maria trilogy, One Alone in the World. I wrote Three Against the World at the request of my niece – “Mom won’t let me read your books, so could you write one that’s okay?” It begged for a sequel, Two Face the World, and they’re on Amazon… and Crystal’s Kindle.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Websites that send out newsletters are marvellous, and I suspect this one will turn out to be the most AWESOME of them all. I do DIY promotion, but it takes up valuable writing time. Once I open Facebook or Twitter I tend to start chatting, though friends across the world are marvellous. I had a NYT author “edit” an American character in Sizzling Sunset.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Only write if you can’t bear not to. I’m a reviewer for Readers’ Favorite, and I’ve found some great books. I’ve discovered more where I had to think of a kind, polite, way of telling the author not to give up the day job.
The most important thing, once you’re committed, is research. It’s obvious for non-fiction and historical novels, but it’s no use having somebody travel from A to B by train unless there’s a station at either end and you’ve discovered how long the journey actually takes – leaves or snow on the line excepted, unless you want a delay.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Encourage beta readers to be honest.

What are you reading now?
Listening to actually, so the laundry etc gets done. Rebecca Bryn’s Touching the Wire. I can tell you it’s marvellous, gut-churning, and heart-breaking, because this is my second “listen”.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Two short stories on the theme of Time for an anthology. Possibly a horror anthology of my own – I got hooked.
A romance about different people that will doubtless turn into either romantic suspense or a romantic thriller; I do happy endings, but I love plenty of angst along the way.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I can’t bring my Kindle with hundreds? No, the battery would run down. Spectral State by Senan Gil Senan, Exits and Entrances by Lesley Hayes, and two books of poetry: Military Matters by Tom Benson, and Boston Dialect by Paul Tait.

Awesome Author - KEN WILLIAMS

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Been writing for a long time but the itch to publish something came on strong with CARLA. I reside in South Carolina across from Augusta, GA. No Stephen King of James Patterson, yet, but am having a great time crafting stories.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
CARLA. It’s an action-mystery-suspense thriller. The title came into my mind and just wouldn’t leave for many months. It began as a horror novel, but after the eighth time of losing the first few pages in my computer, I took it as a sign that God didn’t want me to write it as a horror novel. After four years and oodles and oodles and oodles of revisions, I uploaded it.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
For me it’s late afternoon and evenings is my writing time.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
After high school, I read Sidney Sheldon, Jeffrey Archer, and Stephen King more than others.

What are you working on now?
Got four books in the can. Measuring when to release them. Got more ideas onm the drawing board.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?

Do you have any advice for new authors?

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Been a lot of them but “Find something you love doing and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.”

Awesome Author - Rebecca Bryn

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I live in West wales with my husband and rescue dog. I’ve been writing for about fifteen years although I didn’t publish my first book until 2014. My personal writing shelf now contains eight fiction books and a ‘how-to’ book on painting watercolour seascapes, http://mybook.to/WatercolourSeascapes written under the name of Ruth Coulson. Painting the sea and coast near my home is my other passion. I’ve been painting for over thirty years and felt it was time to share my own particular style of capturing the sea. My fiction writing encompasses mystery, historical, and post-apocalyptic novels, and all are inspired by subjects about which I feel strongly – injustice, exploitation, ecology, family history, the sin of war – My first love is historical fiction; history underpins our present and shapes our future.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest fiction book is called Kindred and Affinity. It was inspired by two tiny facts I knew about my father’s family, and having exposed the scandals in my mother’s family, it seemed only fair to dig deeper into my father’s. I knew that my maternal great-grandfather had married sisters, and that my paternal grandfather was a violent alcoholic who died when he fell off a roof drunk. When I discovered that marriage to sisters was forbidden under the law of Kindred and Affinity – well, I just had to write the story, didn’t I?

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Playing Candy Crush Saga and watching TV when I should be writing?

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Dennis Watkins-Pitchford AKA ‘BB’ whose books were read to me by an enlightened teacher when I was a child – Little Grey Men, Down the Bright Stream, and Brendon Chase were some of his books.
Tolkein, of course. Various historical fiction authors read in my teens. Stephen Donaldson and Terry Goodkind – both masters of world building.

What are you working on now?
The Chainmakers’ Daughter. (Still trying to decide whether to hyphenate chain-makers’) It was inspired by an article visiting the Black Country Museum on the TV program, Flog-it. The working conditions and starvation pay of the women chain-makers was something I had to research. It was their terrible conditions that led to one of the first strikes for better pay and paved the way for the equal pay laws we have today. I’m finding the research fascinating and horrifying in equal measure.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
That’s a hard question to answer. Promoting books is time consuming, and I’ve yet to find a really good way. I use social media, and some of the promotion sites do a good job for a price. It’s a matter of trying them and comparing results. Some authors do well at book fairs, but I’m not good at pushing myself.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Listen to criticism. Don’t discard it because you don’t like it. Analyse the reasons behind the comments and you’ll usually find they have a basis. Take notice and correct if possible. The most important part of writing is editing.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Listen to criticism.

What are you reading now?
Portrait of a Lady by Henry James – for some odd reason my heroine is reading it, so I have to as well.

What’s next for you as a writer?
After The Chainmakers’ Daughter? Not sure. I have a few ideas mulling, but it remains to be seen if any of them see the light of day. Something will push to the fore.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Lord of the Rings, the best story ever; The Hitchhikers’ Guide to the Galaxy, because it kept me sane through difficult times; my own For Their Country’s Good box set, because I love my characters; and Royal Command Family Saga because I’m itching to read the extra new novella, and if I can squeeze just one more After Eight mint in, my Collins English Dictionary, because I love words.

Awesome Author - Andres Gonzales

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am 24 years old male with many interests and currently living in Indiana. at this moment, I have written one ebook but will write at least two more ebooks ranging in subject matter.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The title of my first work is titled “A Treatise on a Grand Unification Theory, Theory of Everything and Additional Discoveries: A Science-Research Article Probable to and Established for Peer-Review and Public Reading” .

I was inspired to write this ebook as I have noticed that there was a significant problem within Theoretical Physics in that there is a unproposed “Theory of Everything”/Grand Unified Theory and that physics does not propose a sole fundamental force of nature of which allows for other forces to exist. I have spent at least three years writing this book and despite setacks of life, i have finalised my book near the Thanksgiving holiday of this year 2019.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
The most unusual wiritng habit that i have is that I prefer a simplistic approach to science and that i have a tendency to procrastinate.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Although not an author, Leonardo da vinci inspired me to write my book along with Terrence McKenna amongst others.

What are you working on now?
currently not anything until “A Treatise on Grand Unification Theory…. ” has received significant exposure of then which I will write a “part 2” of that article and a secret title.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am currently enrolled in Amazon Kindle Select but have enjoyed the Smashwords.com platform regardless of sales.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write your work despite life obstacles, keep your drafted notes, backup your works ALWAYS, and dont give up!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Nothing that i cant think of at this moment.

What are you reading now?
Nothing at this moment.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope to have “A Treatise on Grand Unification Theory…” exposed to a wide audience and be rewarded for my (tedious) labour , present my book to the Clay Mathematics Institute to provide evidence that I have solved at least one Millennium Problem, attend colleges to explain my research, and wait until the time is right to start working on new books.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
A survival manual but that’s it. Otherwise an old, paperous dictionary for fire kindling.

Awesome Author - Claudette Jones

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have been a freelance writer for about twenty years. I have written five books, not all of them fiction. One of the books is on survival. I’m not a prepper, just a preparer. While living in the U.S. Virgin Islands, I experienced the worst hurricane the island had ever suffered in recorded history, at that time (Hurricane Marilyn – 1995). That taught me a lot about being prepared for disasters, and I wanted to share the information.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The book I just put on Awesome Gang is “The Secret of the Veil”, which came out in 2004. The one I just finished, which I plan to place here as well, is the second in what will be a three-book series and is titled, “The Spirit of the Veil: Prophecy of the 7”. I’m aware that many years has passed between books, but something called life intervened (I came home from St. Thomas and became the caregiver for my mom).

Believe it or not, what inspired the series was a visit to the Newport Rhode Island mansions while I was living in Boston (Yes, I lived there too). The mansions took me back in time, which is how I began the first book.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Probably. I’m totally unorganized when writing fiction (not true for non-fiction, which I research, research, research). With fiction, I do what I call inspirational writing. I just sit in front of the computer with an idea and wait for lightening to strike. Not only do I not do outlines, I don’t have any idea what the next page, not to mention the next chapter will bring. It’s as much a surprise to me as it is to my readers. I’ve heard writers say that you must start with an outline. It’s scary to know I’m doing it backwards. Maybe why I’ll never be considered a great writer (Oh well). By the way, I do research with fiction … only not until that lightning strikes and I know where I’m going, at least for the next few pages.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
This always surprises me, but the writer who had the most impact on me was Charles Dickens. I was quite young (young teens) when I read “Great Expectations”, and it knocked me for a loop. That Pip had lived his life, up to the point of his awareness, with a mistaken belief that had characterized his whole existence was horrifying to me. It allowed me to glimpse the perverse nature of life, and taught me a lot. Other influencers were Stephen King (wouldn’t you know); Dean Koontz, Maya Angelou and so many others.

What are you working on now?
I’ve just started toying with the idea for the third book in The Veil Books series.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
None. I’ve just gotten into promoting my books. I came home from the Virgin Islands to promote the first book in the series, and visit my mom. Discovered she was ill and had been hiding it from the family. I became her caregiver and dropped everything else, including my writing and promoting the book, so I’m just getting into this side of things.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
I believe anyone can write if they have the motivation. The best way to become a writer is to write. I was a reader from the time I first picked up a book; I always thought it would be a privilege to bring people the kind of joy I received from reading. I started writing later in life, so I’m still learning how to become a really good writer.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I’m sure I don’t know. I’ve heard so much good advice over the years. Perhaps the advice that has helped me the most in life, was what mom taught me about the work ethic. When I took my first job out of high school, I was a waitress, and I thought I was going to die from fatigue and swollen feet. One day when I was particularly beat up, she said, “You have to be like a race horse. You know how they get that second wind and can keep on going. You have to do that … reach for that second wind. It’ll get you through.” I didn’t think much of the advice at the moment, but it seems whenever I was so tired I didn’t think I could go on, I’d remember what she’d said, and feel almost refreshed. It helped me on a number of levels; the whole not giving up thing.

What are you reading now?
Something from my Dean Koontz library (smile). It’s one of his older books that I hadn’t read.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Who knows. It’s just a day at a time.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, Great Expectations, The Dark Tower (complete set)

A new title Nutrition- a guide to good health is scheduled for release on Amazon in the first week of January.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Natural Solutions for Cancer – amazing cancer healing properties from nature was released in February 2019. I wanted to understand if natural solutions can play a significant role in alleviating suffering of patients suffering from cancer.
One of my colleagues who was himself an expert par excellence in herbal medicine was plagued with cancer. He passed away a diehard believer of Ayurveda and herbal medicine. His death pushed me to look at this subject more closely. The title is an outcome of sustained researched on herbs and natural solutions.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really. But I follow a very disciplined five day 40 hours a week routine doing research and writing. Barring health issues and travel, I do not take a break from my work on week days.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I was particularly impressed by the following book titles.
Mind Change – Susan Greenfield
Connectome – Sebastian Seung
The Mind-Gut Connection – Emeran Mayer
The Future of the Mind – Michio Kaku

What are you working on now?
I am putting the finishing touches to my next title- Nutrition Facts – A guide to good health which I plan to release January next month.
I will be also polishing up my existing video books – Frankincense and Herbs for Alzheimer’s disease

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I try and leverage the algorithms of the amazon platform to promote my books. In addition, I respond regularly to select questions on quora.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Writing a book is just 50% of the journey. Invest equal effort in improving presentation quality, readibility of your work. Reader is your customer and the effort should be to present authentic information to them.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Discipline, passion and dedication is the mantra that I am attracted to.

What are you reading now?
I was intrigued by the divisive personality of Donald Trump and am finishing up on Team of Vipers by Cliff Sims.
I am intrigued by the role of religion in governance in 5th century AD India. I will be reading the English translation of this Sanskrit masterpiece – A Treatise on Dharma by Yajnavalkya.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I will be completing my next title on natural solutions on Obesity but this is in the 2nd half of 2020 after I have completed the current video book projects on hand.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I will take one of the selections from Murty Classical Series published by Harvard University Press. Maybe I will select a title on the evolution of the world in the post globalization era.
If there is a good title on cognitive health that will be another pick for me.

My latest book is Roxanne. I was inspired to write it because I wanted to paint a picture of what people feel when someone breaks their heart. It is a tough, complex time for both sides of the fence when you are broken hearted and I just wanted you to feel it, not just read it.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write in spirts. Sometimes I will write in the middle of the night. There have been times where I stopped in the middle of a workout (Like, I was in the middle of running on the treadmill) and I would just whip out the notes section on my phone and just go crazy!

I am very forgetful so, I have to write as soon as it hits me or else it is gone. Needless to say, Notepad and Voice Memos on my phone are my best friend.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Wow, do we have enough room for all of my influences???

Just to give a few: Stephen King, Edgar Allen Poe, Douglass Adams, K.A. Applegate (if you know who that is, shout out to 90’s kids!) Mark Haddon and a few others I cannot think of right now.

What are you working on now?
Currently I am working on a story called Undying Love. It is a story about a detective having an extramarital affair with a PI whom also happens to be his former partner on the force. He wants to get out of the marriage and is looking for a way out. He knows of his lover’s jealousy and fears it could be dangerous.

There is more to this story, but, that is all I can give for right now. #nospoilers

It is something I have been working on for a while now and mainly it has lived in my head for the most part.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Ha! Let me get back to you on that.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Finish the damn book.

Too many times, potentially new authors talk about book ideas that they want to put out and never end up doing it. You got to finish it. It will haunt you till you finish it.

You will always be in envy when you see a successful new author, until you finish it.

But hey, I’m no expert. What do I know?

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t write trilogies before you get the first book down.

The first book might flop… Forever.

Instead, make something that can stand on it’s own and expand only if it makes sense.

Trilogy fatigue is real. Some people don’t have time to read all that.

What are you reading now?
Nothing.

I try not to have other authors bleed into my work. So, when I am currently writing, I abstain from reading.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m not sure. Hopefully I sell some copies and from there, I can keep funding my dream.

My fans will continue to motivate me and if they are there for me, I will always be there for them.

Hopefully this all catches on and I can do more experimental projects with this type of writing.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The first three Twilight books!

That way I can burn them for kindling and stay warm till the Coast Guard comes.

Oh, wait? We were supposed to read them?

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Many years in the Entertainment Business, Producer of USO Entertainment bringing the best entertainment to our Armed Forces, I have served our Troops with a huge heart for all they do. Years in the Movie Business, making movies starring children who are terminally ill, giving them a will to live.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is His Betrayals, the three who betrayed, were the closest relationships. A story that loosely parallels my life story, maintaining fiction. A story that had to be told, a total page turner with twists and turns and surprises that will exhaust the reader in a good way. Currently being looked at for a movie, the story is that good.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
A big ability to tell a story in a way that the reader becomes enthralled.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Harold Robbins

What are you working on now?
A continual story of Kyle Stone’s adventures

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Do not under estimate the need for real editing before you submit to anyone

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
“a child of lily ames is” is my first series.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The lily series is divided into 5 parts, all available on Amazon. The series was inspired by the accounts of family and friends – so many divorces, so many toxic relationships.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I prefer to write early in the morning, when the house is quiet. With 5 children, it can get pretty noisy. I can get blocked – but for the most part, I write quickly. The lily series was finished in less than 2 weeks.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I adore Joyce Carol Oates, Kurt Vonnegut, and Susan Vreeland. It’s hard to narrow influences to a short list. I find it curious that people have burned books throughout our recent history, when books themselves are such an all-consuming fire.

What are you working on now?
I am about halfway done with a story based loosely on acquaintances from my home town. It’s sort of a plains-style novel, it its drudging simplicity.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m new to this! Any support and/or feedback would be deeply appreciated.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Since I’m new, too, I’d enjoy feedback from more experienced authors. For those still working to finish a book, I’d suggest putting pen to paper. Get your ideas on the page, and clean it up later.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Life is short…false. It’s the longest thing you will ever do.” -Dwight Shrute (The Office)

“I wish there was a way to know you were in the good old days before you actually left them.” -Andy Bernard (The Office)

What are you reading now?
I’m re-reading “The Forest Lover” by Susan Vreeland. It’s one of my favorites. Of course, this is often interrupted by chapters of “Frog & Toad” with the kids.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m not expecting big things. I want to write, and I want to put my work out there. So often, we create and hoard our own creations. That’s not healthy, and it does nothing for the world.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Mary Lamb’s “Tales from Shakespeare”
Douglas Adams’ “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”
…and of course, “Harry Potter”, just in case the kids show up

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am retired from motion picture and Tv writing and directing. I now spend my time writing fiction and non-fiction books.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Diarrhea Diaries (Trump’s Tweets That Give Us The Runs). It began as a joke, then a few weeks later, I took it seriously since Trump’s Tweets were the talk of DC, America, and the world. It is not my words, but Trump’s exactly as he posted them on Twitter – 480 of his most damaging Tweets assembled in 34 chapters with comments along the way by me,

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
My habits are essentially no habits other than I like to begin between 9 and 10 in the morning and go for about 5 to 6 hours when I am all but brain dead.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Cormac McCarthy, Steven King, Earnest Hemingway among others

What are you working on now?
At the moment it’s title “The End of all things. Don’t want to give the story way just yet.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have several.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write, and write as often as you can. The hell with rules, write what you want the way you want. If it’s any good it’ll find readers.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Take nothing in this life seriously.

What are you reading now?
Curt Vonnegut

What’s next for you as a writer?
A best seller would be nice.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Hmm… I would have to think about that. Sorry.

Awesome Author - Jimmy Anderson

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m from a small town in middle Tennessee. I’ve lived here all my life but have visited quite a few places. I’ve loved books since I was little, largely thanks to my grandma, and have wanted to tell stories of my own since my freshman year of high school. It took me a few years to reach the point I could actually pursue that dream, though.
Sink or Swim is the first book that I’ve published, so far. It definitely won’t be the last! Series of books are my favorite to read if I have to choose, but as long as I enjoy the story I’ll read just about anything.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Sink or Swim is my latest, and first, book. It’s the beginning of The Rose Chronicles which will follow Vince Rose throughout his life of piracy and as a political weapon. Nothing imparticular inspired it. I love adventurous books, pirates, and series. That sums up the initial idea and then the series idea started to grow and advance. From there it was new drafts, revisions, editing, and bouncing ideas around until I felt ready to take that big leap of faith.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I really don’t have anything extremely unusual. I like to have coffee on hand like plenty of other people while I work. Other than that, it’s just the standard practice of typing, thinking, procrastinating, and double-checking my work.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have a lot of authors that I admire and look up to for many reasons. Brent Weeks with his Night Angel Trilogy was a huge pointer in how important relationships are between characters. That’s probably one of the best ones. Ari Berk was another great one. I’ve read his Undertaker Trilogy multiple times and still love it. I feel like I always notice or catch onto something new with that one.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on the sequel to Swink or Swim and tinkering on another series I want to write in the not-to-faraway future. Between those two I stay plenty busy writing!

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Do it for you and for what you think it means.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Your book will be someone’s favorite.” It’s helped me push through a lot. Even if your book is for a very niche genre, someone will pick it up one day and absolutely love it.

What are you reading now?
I just finished “The Woman in Cabin Ten” by Ruth Warren. It was a really good read and a nice change of pace, but I’m ready to pick up a new series in a new world. I just haven’t found which one to start next. There’s a few I still need to finish so most likely one of those.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I plan to continue The Rose Chronicles and work on another series I started tinkering with this year. I hope to have the next book out in the second half of 2020 or the beginning of 2021. Here’s hoping, right?

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Dang! This is a particularly mean question. I’ll go with The Seven Realms series by Cinda Williams, I’ve been meaning to finish that series. I could just start fresh and really focus.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I delight in the simple things of life – painting, writing, and splashing about in rockpools being some of the may and varied activities she enjoys. I has taken a creative writing course and done much blogging and writing of articles over the years.
I have been an Occupational Therapist and Student Pastor in turn, and I now creates online courses and scribble fantastical stories. I am already on her second novel, called the Kalk Bay Mysteries, set in Kalk Bay, Cape Town, which involves fishermen, beautiful cottages, and characters based on my great, great aunts.
What aids my writing is my extensive travel and living amongst various cultures across the world. I loves people, and I loves finding out more about cultures across the world. This makes each setting annd culture into a character in the story – with their own, distinct personalities.. They are as an integral part of the plot as individuals are.
I have only written this book, Pocket Rainbow, as yet, but hope to write many, many more.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Pocket Rainbow is the name of my latest (and only) book. It was inspired by working with orphans and vulnerable children in Alexandra township, and by doing a creative writing course. I suddenly found a gift that I did not know I had.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
To be honest, not really. It would be interesting if I did, but no, sadly I dont’.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Agatha Christie, Alexandra Fuller, Dick Francis, Alexander McCall Smith, the Bible, Os Guiness.

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on the ‘Kalk Bay Mysteries’, a novel set in Kalk Bay, full of fishermen, mysterious incidents, seagulls, crayfish and other mayhem.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am not experienced enough to know that yet

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just publish your book. Learn form the process as you go along.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Use your experiences in your writing – so that you can enrich it with hard reality.

What are you reading now?
I am currently reading a lot of internet articles on publishing.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I wish to develop this to a full-time career.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an avid learner and researcher of many topics but particular in Health. I live wherever the wind blows gaining experience and knowledge to share with people like you. Health & Not Screwing It Up Is my 1st book. I have more projects to come.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Health & Not Screwing It Up is my 1st and latest book. The paperback will be out soon. I just wanted to give people easy and simple suggestions that I have learned throughout the years about overall health and have worked for myself as well as other people.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Something Intriguingly Awkward, of course!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have been reading James Michener’s books on and off for the past few years. Plus whatever is in the “free” book pile at libraries. The most recent book that has influenced me on the health genre is Dr. Michael Greger’s How Not To Die.

What are you working on now?
My next project and something intriguingly awkward.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I haven’t developed a structured method yet, so I am playing the field still. No no, I will say the whimsical, awkward yet militant method. Yea we will go with that.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Educate yourself, make mistakes, learn from those mistakes and don’t have that I will do it “one day” mindset. One day is not a day of the week, silly.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I will quote some people to answer this question:

“Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend”
-Bruce Lee

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”
-Lao Tzu

“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win”
-Gandhi

I could keep going, but you get the point.

What are you reading now?
I am reading Poland by James Michener and How Not To Die by Dr. Michael Greger.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Keep growing, learning and provide people more awkward material to enjoy.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I can’t think of exact titles but I would take books with these subject matters: a survival type book, an herbal remedy book and a book identifying plants.

Awesome Author - Karen Dowers

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born in Detroit, Michigan but moved to San Diego, and grew up there. After graduating from High School, I worked on the following list:

(a) Attending college.
(b) Joining the workforce
(c) Making lots of new friends
(d) Gaining experience interacting and dealing with people in the business world

Finally, I found a career path that intrigued me. I wanted to study how to treat and take care of the largest organ on human beings–the skin! This decision led me to a trade school to become a licensed Esthetician. After I passed the board test, I specialize in the paramedical field. I certified in pre/post-operative skincare for laser and cosmetic surgery patients; teen/ and adult acne corrective skincare; anti-aging treatments including skin peels; the use of advanced technology machines and treatment products. I received many hours of certifications learning various treatment modalities over the years. During the process, I researched and developed my unique custom-blend skincare products. I opened several clinics in San Diego before we (hubby and me) decided we wanted to move to the Colorado Rockies. Once we made a move, I opened a day-spa in Durango, CO. I worked with a plastic surgeon and did a lot of networking to expand the business.

Some years went by, and because of health issues with my parents, I decided to retire earlier than anticipated. After my parents passed away I decided to do something else I would enjoy doing; writing story ideas stashed away in my memory for years. I started writing as a hobby and also got back into waking up my artistic abilities by creating my own illustrations. A few people encouraged me to self-publish my work, and I did.

Yup! And that is when the real learning experience began is when I entered the publishing world arena. The writing side gives me a sense of purpose knowing that I’m able to send relevant messages out to kids (and older people, too) through the words that I write. I always tap into Universal Laws, such as the Law of Attraction in my stories. I show, more than tell, that we, humans, are capable of doing and being anything we choose by setting sharp, positive intentions in motion with a powerful focus. Then, I demonstrate how to relax and watch how good things can happen!

Another reason I love to write is that I’m able to create a world that I desire to live in where animals talk, and a whole lot of magic goes on everywhere!

I’m on going on creating book number five, now.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
This is no joke. The most recent book I wrote is called ‘FART BOOMER’S Let ‘Em Rip Butt Blaster Gang!  In a Tale of .  . . The Fart Bomb That Saves a World!  What inspired this book? In my defense, this book was written on a dare.  I’m grateful because it really gave my wild imagination an opportunity to soar and for me to realize I still have this crazy imagination going bonkers at my age! What might that age be? Ha! I will only reveal three words, ‘ageless and timeless’ and let’s leave it at that! LOL!  Plus, I won’t go into detail how this ‘fart’ subject came up, but I will tell you it wasn’t a youngster who started this whole dare thing.

Seriously, I’m beyond worrying about what people might think about me writing a story about a silly but necessary bodily function that no one can avoid. And, when it comes right down to it, I’m willing to bet that 95% of people out there think farting is funny and the other 5% secretly do! LOL!

I’m quite pleased with the way the storyline of this book and the illustrations (I drew the main characters) came out. It’s a hilarious story and kids and adults both will get a kick out of this goofy book. However, I get even more kicks out of family members, friends, and others that react with surprise when they find out I wrote a book about Fart Boomer and his gang. I get the OMG, rolling eyes look. It gives me a good giggle or two.

If you want to learn more about this book, go to https://www.adventureswitharabella.com/ebook/#FART-BOOMER

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Okay, if you don’t think I’m loony yet, you will now. FYI, this habit doesn’t happen during the summer, but only the winter months when it is cold here in the Rockies, I have to heat a warming pad for my feet. That’s right, and I can not start writing until my feet are warm! If this isn’t the answer you are looking for, I’m sorry, but it’s all I have. LOL!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
This might be another unusual answer. It is hard to pick just one author. What really is a big influence for me are all the self-publishing authors out there (a ton!) that are going through ropes, like I am, to learn this process. Kudos to all these authors! That fact alone keeps me inspired.

What are you working on now?
I am currently outlining my third book in my Dimensional Adventures With Arabella Trilogy Series. So far, my book title I’ve come up with is Wild Pegasus Ride. It is possible the title could change, but it will be a young adult fantasy adventure.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still learning but I did create a landing page. I would love feedback. Here it is: https://www.adventureswitharabella.com/ebook/#NETHERWORLD-RESCUE
My website address: https://adventureswitharabella.com

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Even though I’m still green around the collar, the best two-word bit of advice I can offer is patience and perseverance.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
This may sound a little arrogant but it is ‘pearly wisdom’ that I have given myself (and believe me, I have to constantly be reminded to heed to my own advice!) And, here it is:
“You can have your head buried in the sand, but you still have your butt (I’m using a nice word here) sticking up in the air!”

What are you reading now?
Lately, after publishing and trying to promote three books, I have not had time to read but I finally have blocked out time each day on my schedule to find a good book, plant my behind in a comfortable chair, and READ for an hour! I love to read for relaxation and for learning and dislike when I don’t have a good book to sink into because I can’t find time to do it.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Writing the 3rd book in my trilogy series and creating another F. Boomer and gang adventure, and, of course, creating the art.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would sink myself into the Five Levels of Learning with the Wes Penre Papers. These papers (thick books) contain years of fascinating research this man has accomplished and shared for free about what is really going on in this world we live in.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
“As the seals become broken, the veil lifted, and illusions fade, what remains is the realization that we are creative, intelligent, loving, Divine vibrational beings here to teach, learn, give and love.” ~ Dawn James

I am living my second life. I became a writer a few years following a big ‘wake up’ call. I have written seven books in several languages. They encompass how to live more consciously, with less stress and in harmony with yourself, each other and the planet.

The Trilogy was launched January 2019.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My third book in the Trilogy was released earlier this year, entitled

Raise The Vibration Between Us: Forgiveness, Karma and Freedom

The one thing everyone on the planet has in common, is we each have a relationship. Even if only the relationship with oneself. I was inspired to write this book because of my deep seated belief that we can cultivate a sense of joy and personal freedom in our lives — we just need a little inspiration, motivation and know-how.

My personal journey taught me the importance of forgiveness, and my spiritual journey has taught me the importance of clearing karma and not creating more karma. These are the lessons and experiences I now teach through my books, audio books and transformational retreats.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
When I am inspired to write…I write..non-stop sometimes for a few days. It comes in waves.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I am not an avid reader, but all my life I have paid attention to my dreams.
In 2005, I received a profound message in a dream – with ignited my curiosity and passion for writing about vibrational frequency and higher consciousness.

Who knew 14 year later the Trilogy would be born about…
Raising the vibrations within you
Raising the vibrations around you
Raising the vibrations between us

What are you working on now?
I am currently writing my autobiography.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Noone has your story, so do not worry about what others have published – even if it’s the same subject that you are writing about.

Develop your craft, learn self-editing skills and write like it matters.

Lastly, hire a professional editor because content is KING!!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?

Awesome Author - Alyanna Poe

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi! I’m Alyanna Poe, eighteen year old author of Eaten. Eaten is my first published work. I self published through Amazon after many rejections from literary agents. I guess they aren’t into gore and horror like I am. Halloween is a huge holiday in my household, larger than Christmas in fact. So far, all of my writing projects fall under the category of horror, although I plan on writing in many other genres before I kick the bucket.
I love music (currently have it on as I’m writing this actually) and I couldn’t live without it. I generally listen to alternative rock, rap, and EDM. I love dogs. I have three of my own and plan on always having a fur baby around. I think both music and my dogs spark inspiration in my writing. Dogs play a big part in Eaten even though they aren’t main components in the story.
I live with my parents in northern California. Living in small agricultural towns and being surrounded by orchards has really impacted my writing, as you can see in Eaten and some of my shorter works that I plan on publishing soon.
My writing is my life and I plan on making a full career from it.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
EATEN is my latest publication. Amazon was a good fit for me, allowing me to keep my creative integrity and the freedom to market myself, taking on my work at full speed.
The main character of Eaten, Amelia, is an agonized soul, as many have told me. They tell you to write what you know, so I wrote about my experiences in school. Fourteen year old Amelia delves into her adolescence surrounded by bullies and adults that don’t understand her situation. Not to spoil anything, but Amelia’s life is very similar to my own except for her family situation. My parents have never been anything like Edward and Barbara, to my relief.
I was fourteen when I started writing Eaten and, after many cases of editing, I published at eighteen. At fourteen, I had anger issues from the stress of starting high school and being left out of everything. My best friend left me for my new friend. I tried to be friends with the people that no one gave a chance to, and I found out why they had no friends (they were *not* the nicest people). I was the awkward kid. On top of that, I have always picked at my skin. I remember all the way back to kindergarten, I picked at the bumps on my arms at night. I still have scars. I didn’t want to go to school in fear of the bully in my class. He found me and decided I was the one to bully. Years of torture led to anger issues and so many scars from picking. Recently I found out that it could be a mental disorder related to OCD. As far as the anger issues, my mom told me I needed to express myself in a way so I wouldn’t be so furious all the time. That night I started the notes for Eaten and four agonizing years later it has come to fruition.
Amelia was my way of telling my story with fictional bits mixed in. Linda and Dan aren’t real, but the pain behind those two characters are very real.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I usually light a candle and say a few positive words in my head before writing or working on marketing. I generally always have music on while writing as well. Even at twelve in the morning, I don the earbuds and get to rocking.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Stephen King really influenced me. I read King’s The Stand at age thirteen and fell in love with his writing style. I tried to model my writing style after his with my own twist. Growing up, I read a lot of YA like Heather Brewer’s The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod which really got me ready for the horror genre.

What are you working on now?
Currently I’m working on the sequel to Eaten. The title is a secret for now, but once I’m closer to being finished with it I’ll think about a cover reveal.
I had started a third novel, VERY separate from Eaten. As of now it is on the back burner until I can finish up this sequel. I already have a few people waiting for the sequel!

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use a mobile app called Slasher to connect with other horror fans. So far I’ve made a few personal sales through there without having to pitch myself. The Slasher community is great. It’s similar to the set up of FaceBook but specifically for horror fans. There’s even a dating section, which I haven’t tried… yet haha. People are very nice on there, and I suggest it to any horror fans with a smartphone.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
WRITE. I can’t say it enough. When you have the urge to write and you feel that your writing is no good, write anyway. You won’t improve if you sit idle. And when you feel that you can’t write, read. It’s a good way of recharging the old creativity batteries in your head.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Honestly, the advice I just gave was advice given to me. I pass it on as much as possible because it really helped me.

What are you reading now?
Right now I’m in the middle of Dan Simmons’ Carrion Comfort. And as soon as I finish this book, I plan on reading Europa by Elias J. Hurst. I read a sample of it on Amazon and just had to get the ebook!

What’s next for you as a writer?
Marketing. So much marketing. I am learning how to connect with my target audience, horror lovers, and making connections with them. I love meeting new people and finding out how they go into horror. Everyone’s reasons are different.
Also, I hope to release my sequel by the end of 2020.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
First I would bring a favorite of mine, The Cipher by Kathe Koja. I just love that book and how dark and transcending it is. If you haven’t read it, I highly suggest it. And the next three would come from my TBR pile (consisting of over 600 physical books that are overflowing my shelves). I can’t wait to read The Man Who Couldn’t Stop by David Adam. It’s about OCD and it intrigued me from the Dollar Store’s book section so I had to have it. I haven’t read Dracula by Bram Stoker (yes I am very behind!) but I really look forward to it. And finally I would bring Stephen King’s Under the Dome as I have the novel but haven’t read it yet. I really enjoyed the first season of the television series and hope to thoroughly enjoy the novel as well.

Awesome Author - John Walters

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a graduate of the Clarion West science fiction writing workshop and an active member of Science Fiction Writers of America. I have recently returned to the United States after living overseas for 35 years. I have published 25 books and about two dozen stories in magazines and anthologies. My books include novels, short story collections, and memoirs in numerous genres.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is a novel called The Senescent Nomad. It’s about an aging writer who decides to abandon his apartment and set out on the road full time in a camper van after his kids have grown and gone. He meets fascinating people and has numerous adventures on his way to a science fiction convention to which he has been invited.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know. Is it unusual to write for long hours seven days a week? That’s what I do. I don’t let anything except family emergencies interfere with my writing.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Jack London, Jack Kerouac, J.R.R. Tolkien, Harlan Ellison, Roger Zelazny

What are you working on now?
I’ve just finished a number of short stories and now I am working on a sequel to The Senescent Nomad.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I learned from numerous mentors that the best method to promote your writing was to get busy on the next book. That’s what I do. I keep busy writing.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write whatever your voice tells you to write whether you think it will sell or not.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
What I just said above. Write from your heart. Don’t focus on what you think will sell, but rather on what you have to say that no one else can say.

What are you reading now?
The Armageddon Rag by George R.R. Martin. A masterpiece from his pre-Game of Thrones days.

What’s next for you as a writer?
More writing.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I don’t know. I have a few thousand favorites. It would be tough to trim them down.

Awesome Author - Valerie Quinata

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Valerie M. Quinata (1960 – )

I was born and grew up in Akron, Ohio, and spent most of my life in the Midwest. My love of reading began in the 3rd grade and my fate was sealed three years later when I took first place in a reading contest and won…you guessed it, a book! If there was an Olympic medal for reading, I would take gold, having mastered the ability to read anywhere, while walking, sitting, standing, or lying down.

The memoir remains one of my favorite genres and my goal has been that writing about my life experiences would benefit more than me. It wasn’t until I was given a diagnosis of breast cancer in 2016 that writing became a necessity as I processed through the challenges of a serious illness. Three years later, I was compelled to pull together all of my individual writings and create a story about healing from cancer.

I have written 2 books. One is the beginning of a series called Gifts of a Warrior – Book One is titled, Heal the Sick. I have also released a book of free scripture art that highlights encouragement.

I work with my own art as well as with the work of artists who provide license-free photography, so my scripture art is always free, downloadable and ready to us as wallpaper on your cell phone or printed off in any form you wish. Where possible, please keep my watermark or reference the piece as originating from Giftsofawarrior.com.

The process I use involves documenting the work of identifying spiritual challenges, addressing them in partnership with the Holy Spirit in a loving, forgiving way, and using the Word of God to heal.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Part of my experience involved the use of scripture art and the creation of a blog where I posted my daily devotions, usually including scripture art that matched my passage for the day. During a lazy Christmas holiday, I began organizing three years’ worth of scripture art. The process took a few days and I realized that each day, at the end of the reviewing and cataloging process, my mood was so much better – the peace, joy, calm and positivity practically radiated off of me and stayed with me until the next day. It didn’t require meditation, only the brief process of reading scripture and enjoying the visual art of each piece. That’s when I learned the power of viewing and reading visual images of scripture each day.

As a result, I created the book, Meditations on Encouragement, a book of scripture art that features passages that highlight the presence of God in our lives as a protector, encourager, and someone who is FOR YOU, who wants you to know He is not a force – He is THE force, and His Word is powerful in your life.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have a family, so my writing takes place around 4:00 a.m.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
My favorite book of all time is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. As a child with a challenging family life, this heroine, who spoke her truth relentlessly and experienced her faith in God in a way that was real for her; not pious, not fake or forced, but full of authentic struggle and reverence, illustrated a path of freedom for me. She wrestled before God with her issues – beautiful writing and a perfect mix of mystery, romance and spirituality.

What are you working on now?
My next piece is about generational impacts involving poverty, criminal behavior and historic oppression. There are forces that try to shape our lives based on generational issues and the Holy Spirit has lead me to and through some pretty wild processes to get to the bottom of family issues with poverty, including a family murder….

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am learning that right now, and appreciate the work that Awesome Gang does to help authors get their books out!

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Honestly, nothing else matters until the book is written.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write the way you speak – no one ever had talker’s block.

What are you reading now?
Bad Feminist, Roxane Gay
Undaunted, Christine Caine
The Empathetic Life of Rebecca Wright, Shan Inmon

What’s next for you as a writer?
Learning how to promote my books, writing the next book and investing in a kick ass Mac setup with a huge monitor so I can create more scripture art!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte
Bible
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Trilogy, Douglas Adams
