Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a mother, wife, and most importantly a child of the one true King, Jesus Christ. I am an overcomer, a survivor, a fighter, a prayer warrior and loves the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart. Born in Valparaiso, Indiana and was employed full time as a case worker with Family Social Services prior to becoming a full time Christian author and blogger. I have studied the Bible for over 10 years and thoroughly researched the mind/brain, thought patterns, prayer, spiritual warfare, and more for over 6 years. I am the author of the blog faithanchored.com and recently published my first book Change Your Focus Change Your Future: Positive and Negative Mindsets in September 2019.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Change Your Focus Change Your Future: Positive and Negative Mindsets
I struggled for many years with many issues I discuss in the book that resulted in a negative mindset. Once I found the “missing piece” I began to study and research to find a way to rewire my brain and live a more positive, peaceful, and purposeful life. I then knew I couldn’t keep the things I discovered to myself– I was being called by God to share His word and my story with others who are struggling.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
no, not really

Joyce Meyer
The rewire Brain
Dr. Carolyn Leaf

I am currently in the process of writing my second book. This one will include a bible study, helpful tips and more for a powerful prayer life.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am still struggling with this myself, as I am a new author. However, I have my blog I advertise on, facebook, and amazon.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Follow your heart and simply write. If you don’t know how to start pick somewhere start writing and you will be shocked how it just starts to flow.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The most important part of writing is to write. Get your thoughts and ideas on paper and organize them later… Use mind mapping.

What are you reading now?
Warrior Chicks

What’s next for you as a writer?
I am currently working on my second book which I am hoping to release in a few months.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

Ed Green

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Ed Green and my author pen name is E.A. Green / The Greenman and as of today, I’ve written 8 books.

My 1st book was published about 4 weeks before my 50th birthday and I’m originally from Rockport Texas but currently living in Kiowa Colorado. Breaking Rules Publishing, “ran by Christopher Clawson Rule,” is my home base and I hope and plan to stay with them for many more years to come. Unbeknownst to many of my friends, I’m an Ex Carnie with over 2 years of traveling like a Gypsy.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest accomplishment to be published is book 3 from my children’s series, DON’T LET THE BEDBUGS BITE 3 – OOEY, GOOEY & CHEWY. The series was a complete accident because my plan was to only write novels. But once a creepy child-like poem popped into my head, there was no stopping what I consider the type of bedtime stories Wednesday, Pugsley and I would have read and, “thanks to my Dad who was into horror movies,” grew up with.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Besides always having music playing and a cup of coffee next to me, my writing habits are pretty basic. Just DON’T expect me to instantly drop what I’m writing just to have a conversation with you. You’re likely to get stabbed.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
The Authors that helped me escape from the confinements of home and school bullying are Steven King, “of course,” Jean M. Auel, Piers Anthony, Terry Brooks, Richard Adams, Doctor Seuss, Dan Brown, Frank Herbert, George Orwell, Bram Stoker, and Many Others. King had such an effect, that my 1st Novel has been compared to his form of writing, which I consider a Major Honor.

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on M.A.D., the Very 1st Novel I started way back in 1990. It delves into the psychotic world of Malphas Angelo Dumas, who is the true definition for being Crazily Insane.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
When it comes to promoting my literary accomplishments, I, “being the epitome of the broke artist,” use every form of media that I can find and use for free. These include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, AllAuthor, Pinterest, Tumblr, Goodreads, Linkedin, WordPress, Amazon’s Author Central, Goodreads, My Knowledge panel on Google, Blogging, and YouTube.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
If You are NOT on a deadline, don’t write your book as if you were. Just breath, take your time and Write, Write, Write then Edit, Edit, Edit. Also, there are many voices out there who all have an opinion. Sadly, not all of the advice is good and there are many who’s only goal is to steal and destroy your hard work, your determination, and belief in yourself and your bank account.

Stay Strong, Stay Focused and Stay Encouraged, for you will get there. If not today, then tomorrow. And if not tomorrow, then the day after that.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you can’t find the Strength and Will to BELIEVE IN YOURSELF, you’ll never be able to stand against the negativity that seems to be heaped upon the world and its occupants these days. By the time you rise above all the other gladiators in the literary arena, you will have spilt much blood, sweated tons of mishaps and very possibly there would have been many tears shed at that point too. So Remember, this life is your story and if you don’t live and tell it yourself, your Not going to like what others will say about you and what they will write for you once you’re gone.

If the world is left with an impression about you, let it be the one you chose.

What are you reading now?
Currently, I’m in the process of writing and not reading anything. I probably do need to sit down and read, but there are so many stories in my head wanting to see the light of day that it’s hard not to give in to their shiny dreams.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I am hoping to become such a sought after writer, that I can finally get off of disability. I’m believing that my writing career will take off and allow me to become financially stable so that I can get the Government’s opinion and hands out of my finances and health choices.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
1st, I’m Definitely taking a book on how to survive on a Desert Island.

2nd, the book Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus. That way I can finally understand the opposite sex, just in case I ever come into contact with civilization once again

3rd, the book No Limits by Michael Phelps, I may need to find the encouragement when the only way I’m getting off of that island is by swimming.

4th and final, “in case I’m never leaving the island,” 1000 ways to eat seafood and Never grow tired of its fishiness.

Lynda Meyers

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a PNW author and just released my 4th novel, which is also a first in series! I’m also a mom, a nurse, a Reiki Master, a certified Yoga Instructor, and a grandmother of an almost 2 year old!

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
This latest book released Nov 15th, 2019 and it’s called Steel Journeys: The Road to Patagonia. It’s about a woman who owns and all-female motorcycle touring company and takes it global, leading women all over the world. I was inspired to write it because I wanted to inspire and empower women riders and business owners. Also, because there is nothing else like it out there! There are several NON-Fiction books about women riders – those who tell the stories of their adventures. But there isn’t any FICTION out there with a strong female protagonist who loves to ride motorcycles and has built her life and her business around it. I wanted to tell the stories of the hundreds of female riders I’ve met, so each one will profile a different fictional woman from a different walk of life traveling to a different international destination.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I am a discovery writer, or a “pantser” as those in NaNoWriMo have named it. In other words, I don’t plot at all. I simply sit down and see what the characters want to do or say to me on any given day. Most of the time I feel more like a scribe than a “creator” of worlds. I believe on some level, that these “worlds” that I create already exist somehow, that these characters – or at least their essence – already exists in the world. I just bring their stories to life!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Elizabeth Gilbert, Paulo Coelho, JK Rowling, CS Lewis, JRR Tolkien, Anne Lamott, Annie Dillard

What are you working on now?
Book 2 Of the Steel Journeys Series, which takes place in Costa Rica. Also some narrative non-fiction and a 5-book Fantasy / Time Travel series!

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Facebook Groups are great because they are targeted to specific people so I can match my readers’ stories with the books’ stories.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t worry about what you will do with your book after it’s written, or who will read it. Just write what’s in your heart without judgment.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
It’s all about relationship. We were made for relationship with others. Don’t forget that.

What are you reading now?
Stardust, by Neil Gaiman, Montana Women Homesteaders, and Several books on Yoga and meditation.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Expanding into non-fiction, writing more in the Steel Journeys series but also writing a sequel to Finn Again and possibly Letters From The Ledge.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Alchemist, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy

Quirah Casey

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi, I’m Quirah and I am a graphic designer and a urban fantasy and contemporary romance author. I currently have 5 published books (with 2 others that are temporarily pulled), and many more planned for the future.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book is “Stealing The Throne”. I wish I could say what inspired it, but I started the original story at 14 or 15, 6-7 years ago so I can’t remember. I want to say it was possibly The Selection by Kiera Cass. What made me revisit the book though, was getting off into the genre of Reverse Harem.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I would say procrastination, but I think that’s in the author welcome package.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
There have been many books to influence me, but to think of a few off top, I’d have to say Night Huntress by Jeanine Frost, Try by Ella Frank, Curse of the Gods by Jaymin Eve and Jane Washington, and Twilight by Stephanie Mayer. All of these books influenced me in different ways. Night Huntress made me fall in love with tough heroines, Try introduced me to LGBT romance which I now love and has also played a huge part in me becoming a more open person. Curse of the Gods introduced me to reverse harem and inspired me to start writing in the genre and pick up some old manuscripts that immediately became more interesting when I added the new element. Twilight made me fall in love with reading which then inspired my love of writing.

What are you working on now?
Right now, I am working on book two of “The Blue Devil” and “Chronicles of the Throne”, a single parent contemporary reverse harem romance entitled “relapse”, and some other surprise releases for next year.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My best method for promoting books right now is facebook.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t focus on what others are doing or how long it takes for you to reach your goals, just keep going.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle.

What are you reading now?
“Sins” by Candace Wondrak.

What’s next for you as a writer?
My next big goal is to publish a minimum of twenty books in 2020 and earn a bestseller tag next to my name.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Oh, that’s hard, the Twihard in me wants to say “Twilight” but there are so many books that I love so much that I honestly just can’t pick.

Nicholas Vaughan

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am 64 years of age; I live in Somerset England now with my wife Lesley. I have a son Nicholas and he has a gorgeous partner. I have two beautiful Granddaughters and they live in Birmingham England, where I originally sat and wrote the books I have written. We moved down south this year because we were evicted from our house in Birmingham after a long fight with the mortgage company. I was a self-employed landscape gardener for many years. I enjoyed the freedom and open air. But when the work dropped off in the winter months and the weather was against me, I stayed at home and carried on writing.

The first book I started many years ago. I owned a garage in a small village and when my workforce went home I stayed late and wrote my first story “My Friends Wives and Me” on my first computer, then I, unfortunately, went with an American publisher called “Trafford” and to be honest after a few years had passed and nothing had happened I lost interest in writing. Some years passed and eventually, I wrote the sequel “Many Returns” then, years past again, nothing was sold in America because (as far as I was concerned) it was too expensive for a paperback book. I challenged them but nothing was done. I had the idea of changing the name and the cover and then I put it on Amazon. Nothing has ever happened really but I do love to write. I wrote a children’s book and did nothing about it. Then I had an idea about short stories, so I wrote one, then another and another, eventually I worked my way up to eight turning them into a series which has been published. Then I couldn’t stop. I carried on and now I have written 32 short stories all on the same theme with an idea to carry it on into a full story. All the stories are linked to each other, each tale telling a different story that comes to a dramatic climax.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Hoody and His Gyal” My son is 32 years old and he talks like all the gangsters and hard men from the hood (Not that my son is a gangster or a hard man) but it’s the language he and his mates have grown up with “enit!”

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really, I get a thought in my head and put it on my phone. I write the biggest load of garbage as fast and as much as I can before I forget it all and then when it quiet, I sit and decipher it all with more thoughts and ideas.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
This may sound strange but I don’t think I have ever read a story from beginning to end and I haven’t picked up many books.

What are you working on now?
Nothing at the moment I have had to get a job to try and survive for the time being as we had to move into a static Caravan.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I did all the usual stuff but to be honest I haven’t spent a lot of time on it.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just keep writing if that’s what you want to do and be inspired by the thought of writing a best seller and the fame?

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I’ve never had any, to be honest. My family and friends like most, don’t believe I will ever make money from it and I’m wasting my time. They haven’t read anything I have written.

What are you reading now?
Nothing except, bills, bills and more bills!

What’s next for you as a writer?
To be honest I don’t know. If I had the time I would finish my short stories, write the third part of the trilogy I started some years back.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Only one, “How to build a boat.”

Markus Horner

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
This is the nickel version of my life story.

I grew up in Southeast Dallas, Texas ( That section of Dallas is known as Pleasant Grove. Trust me when I say, it was anything but pleasant. ) It was and still is a very rough part of Dallas. Unbeknownst to me at the time I had been born with Tourettes Syndrome ( TS ), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder ( OCD ), and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ( ADHD ). During the mid 1990’s I coined the phrase Tourettes Trifecta. My father was a violent alcoholic, my mother was an addict, and my brother was both. I developed PTSD before I was 16 because of how violent my father was or so says Dr. Vasavada, a psychiatrist.

Now for the good stuff. After dropping out of high school in the eleventh grade ( The 2nd time thru. This is very misleading because about twenty years later it would be determined that my IQ was 141 which is genius level. It turns out that I was just bored in high school. ) So, I joined the military in the hopes of escaping the daily bullying from the neighborhood kids. Unfortunately that did not go as planned. I was still being bullied because of the tics that are part of the trifecta.

Finally, I was kicked out of the Navy because in their estimation I had not been able to “Adapt to military life”. That was the understatement of the year. I still had not yet been officially diagnosed. During the 21 year period between the date of my separation from the Navy, June 24, 1971 and the date that I was officially diagnosed, March 22, 1992, I was fired more than 200 times. That is not an exaggeration. In fact the Social Security Administration classified me as 100% disabled in Dec. of 1992. The reason I was fired was always the same. “Mark, we like you, your honest, dependable and loyal. Man, you work harder than anyone here. “But you just do not fit in.” I went though girlfriends just about as fast as I did jobs. I was never able to understand why the ladies never wanted to stay around me for very long. Particularly because I had been classified as extremely good looking when I was only 15 by a 25 year old woman that was friends with my mother.

The emotional pain of living with the undiagnosed Trifecta become so overwhelming that I attempted suicide three different times during my twenty’s. In March 1992 the psychiatrist that I was seeing finally told me. He said, “Mark, I may not yet know exactly what is going on. But there is one thing that I DO know about you. You have a will to survive like I never seen before. You are the type of guy that if you were in a plane crash up in the mountains and everyone on that plane was killed except for you. It would be because you were the one son of a bitch on that pane that absolutely REFUSED to die. Ten days later you would come walking out of those mountains. Frostbit, but you would be breathing.”

I always knew that I was extremely strong willed. I just had no idea why. My first wife Judy, was a very attractive, sweet, highly intelligent ( Yes I know. Then why in the hell did she marry me. Good question! If I ever figure it out I will let you know. ) The marriage lasted exactly 8 years and 5 months to the day. We got divorced in August of 1980.

About 8 years later I met and married my second wife. We have now been married going on 33 years. She was a practicing Ophthalmologist in the Philippines. Both of the women that I have been married to are extremely intelligent. They just have lousy taste in men. Judy graduated as the valedictorian of her high school graduation class of 923. My second wife was the valedictorian of her medical school graduation class. I do not marry dumb women. Our daughter is just as intelligent as Mom. She also has an enormous amount of plain old fashion common sense. ( I keep wondering about who her father might be because a kid like that cannot possibly be mine.)

For the next twenty seven years I was self employed. I owned a residential maintenance business. When I was sixty four I started writing. Since then I have written three books, and more articles than I can even remember that have been published in other peoples books, magazines, Newspapers, ( I was an Op-ed columnist for The Dallas Morning News for about a year. ) and online than I can even remember.

This will give you a very good idea of what kind of life I have lived. My complete autobiography is currently for sale on Amazon. It is titled “Consistently Persistent, Living with the Tourette Trifecta.” It has been anything but dull. Trying as hell maybe, but never boring.

So , that’s all. I hope you enjoy reading about your average run of the mill John Doe.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“My Do’s and Don’t’s for Raising a Bully-Proof Child” I grew up in one of the roughest parts of Dallas, Texas. I had been born with Tourettes Syndrome, OCD, and ADHD. I had a last name that lent itself to more cruel jokes than I can even remember. I was bullied almost on a daily basis. Even my father bullied me. He was a violent drunk. My mother was an addict, and my brother was both. I was bullied in almost every way possible. This is why I have decided to try to help as many children as possible to hopefully keep them from being bullied.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have been told several times that I write in a very easy to read conversationally manner. Basically, I write exactly the way I talk.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
None that I can think of.

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on a series of children’s books. The tentative title for right now is “Little Bit, the Black Belt Kitty and Bella visit…. ” Each book will have a dual purpose. First, I will try to teach the reader something about a different country that they might not be familiar with. 2) Each book will be written in such a way as to teach the reader a particular trait like Courtesy, manners, Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, and on and on.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
So far my website has been my best tool. I am also in the process of getting setup with Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, and a few others.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
PERSISTENCE!!! Just believe in yourself. Learn how to accept being told “NO” without taking it personally.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Learn how to become as proficient in using Social Media as you can.

What are you reading now?
Nothing

What’s next for you as a writer?
Already stated above.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I will have to think about that one for awhile.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a poet, songwriter, singer ect… I have written just the one book titled “Move Over Shakespeare Tales From The Baron” it’s currently doing extremely well. I just did a Book signing and sold it out and people that have gotten the book have gave me many inspiring reviews about how either they love it very much or it has changed their outlook on certain things as they look at them differently now after reading my book.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“Move Over Shakespeare Tales From The Baron” I’ve had most of the poems put away for years and everyone kept asking “Are you ever going to publish those awesome poems?” So I finally did.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No matter what I am doing at the moment when something comes to me I have to hurry and write it down immediately.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Because I don’t want my writing to be influenced by other things I read. I am not a big reader. I do hope that my poetry does influence others who love to read.

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on doing a book signing tour starting in 2020 since my last one went over so well. The buzz about my book is getting louder and I am humbled by it and would love to engage with the people that have been asking for a signed copy.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have to say Join as many Facebook book and author groups as possible. That has been a huge success for me thus far.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
If you have a book written and are unsure if anybody will like it so you’re holding off from publishing it. Do it as soon as possible. Have faith in your work. Know that there is an audience for every type of work. Just go for it!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
After making a funny comment on someone’s post. “Stick to writing books you’re awesome at it lol”

What are you reading now?
Online posts and blurbs no books

What’s next for you as a writer?
To see how far this book will go and then go beyond.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Thus far I’ve written four children’s books, two of which are ready and published. I’ve been writing short stories, poetry, and essays since I was a kid. But when I decided to publish my work, I wanted to focus on children, especially children of color. As an African American man, I know first hand how important it is for children who may look like me to have the ability to see themselves on-page and fall in love with characters they may directly relate to.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Crown & Glory: Embrace Your Hair

This title and book came from a poem I wrote years ago. As the title suggests, it speaks of the importance of embracing your hair. However, not just your hair. The uniqueness, self-love, and individualism that comes with it. It truly is one that can be enjoyed by not only young readers but also their parents and grandparents, too.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know if it’s unusual… I have my best writing excursions during the wee hours. I’m talking 2 or 3 am. It’s not uncommon for me to wake up, grab my phone and type out whatever thought I was having, or get out of bed and head directly to the laptop. But, is that unusual? As writers, our minds are constantly giving us ideas, themes, and characters. That’s what makes us “different” than most. So I say, hey writer, you’re not unusual, you’re perfect at what you do and how you create. Keep going and keep sharing!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
How much space do we have (lol)? I’ve enjoyed everything from classics like “The Little Engine That Could” and “Charlotte’s Web” up to modern titles and genres. Personally, I am not attached to specific authors or genres… a great tale is simply a great tale.

What are you working on now?
I am currently working with an illustrator for my next children’s book entitled “Wanna Hear A Song”. The book is centered around an autistic child and is a testament to how amazing and talented these kids are.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Honestly, I am new to this. Currently, everything is done via word of mouth, social media and very little internet marketing. My goal is to dive into the promoting side of things in the new year to maximize exposure. It should be fun and I’m looking forward to it.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes, one word… WRITE! Overthinking things and procrastinating is killing your thunder. You have something special inside of you and I want you to write it so I can read it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
When I was roughly 13 years old I overheard someone say “If you live your life for others, you’re not living at all.” Obviously, that quote is within reason and context but it has stayed with me all these years.

What are you reading now?
I’m currently re-reading “The Energy Bus” by Jon Gordon.

What’s next for you as a writer?
At this second, my goal is five published children’s books and once they’re out then I’ll finally tackle the two adult titles I’ve been loosely working on.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Before I answer, I must acknowledge how much of a nightmare that scenario is for a writer/reader. In no special order (other than the first one) I would say…

“Deeply Rooted”
It is my first children’s book and extremely special to me on multiple levels.
“The Energy Bus” by Jon Gordon
If nothing at all I need to keep my focus and energy up to hopefully get off the island.
“The Count of Monte Cristo” by Alexandre Dumas
If you’ve read this book, it’s self-explanatory of why it needs to be with me.
“The Bible”
It’s arguably the greatest book ever written and sure to have something to fit any situation I may come across or feeling I’d experience while on the island.

J.R. Schuyler

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve always been interested in storytelling, and I’ve been “writing” since I could hold a pen. It started off with scribble drawings when I was three and progressed into written language after I started school.

In my second year of high school, I made a terrible mistake. I typed up the first draft of one of my stories and submitted it to a major publisher. As you might expect, it got rejected. That, combined with the drudgery of high school, sucked all the joy out of writing for me.

A few years after I gave it up, one of my friends told me they were publishing a book. Seeing their enthusiasm inspired me to give it another shot myself. I submitted a few stories and articles to various websites, and to my surprise, they got published. My friends encouraged me to keep going and write a real book, so I did.

I currently have three books out. “Sleepers” is a medical sci-fi murder mystery. “When the Leaves Fall” is a historical novelette set during WW1. “The Gloaming” is a lengthy YA portal fantasy.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“The Gloaming” is my latest book. It’s a portal fantasy novel that follows a human boy and his secret wraith friends as they grow up. The title is the name of the wraiths’ homeland, but it’s also an uncommon English word that means “dusk”. Considering the wraiths’ land is dying, I thought it was a good fit. Plus, it sounds cool and a little bit mysterious.

The inspiration for the story itself is a bit trickier to pin down. I’d been sitting on the idea of creating a new race/species for a while—something different from the elves and vampires and things you normally see in fantasy novels. I wanted the challenge of coming up with an entirely new world and culture. One night, while I was trying to sleep, everything came together in a flash of inspiration. I spent the next six hours writing down ideas, and by the time I was done, I had the outline of a story.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Sometimes, when I’m working on dialogue, I like to act out the scene instead of just writing it. Reading dialogue aloud makes it easy to identify unnatural or contrived phrases.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Jeremy Bates is one of my biggest influences. He incorporates a lot of atmospheric details into his work, which I love. I’m also a huge Harry Potter fan!

What are you working on now?
I have a lot of projects underway, but I’ve set them aside for the time being. Instead of working on a novel, I’m currently working to improve my writing skills. I’ve been reading about craft, experimenting with new techniques, and working with several different writing coaches. It’s been immensely helpful so far, and I think it will pay off in the future.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
To be honest, I don’t do a lot of self-promotion. I’ve mostly been using Amazon ads, although I’ve had some success with in-person events as well.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Getting feedback is an important part of developing as a writer. Gather a team of people willing to read your work and listen to their comments with an open mind. Savor the positive comments. Don’t get defensive over the negative ones. If you automatically dismiss comments you don’t like, you might be missing out on a valuable learning experience. That said, don’t let anyone pressure you into making changes you don’t agree with. At the end of the day, it’s your story and you’re the only one who can tell it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write what you love. If you don’t enjoy what you’re doing, then what’s the point?

What are you reading now?
“The Feed” by Nick Clark Windo

What’s next for you as a writer?
I have two novels that I want to finish in 2020/2021. One is a sci-fi novel about a rag-tag group who need to stop an asteroid before it destroys the world. The other is a high fantasy novel about a cursed dryad and her adoptive brother. The final drafts have been written for both books. I just need to refine them.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
“Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury
“Parasite” by Darcy Coates
“Monument 14” by Emmy Laybourne
“Harry Potter: The Complete Collection” by J.K. Rowling (or is that cheating?)

Camille Cabrera

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Camille Cabrera. Even as a child reading and writing were always a source of joy for me. In elementary school, I loved to spend my time in the library instead of playing with other kids on the playground. I enjoyed discovering other universes and lands beyond my own and crying for and rooting for bold characters. I believe that love and passion for books pushed me into the field of writing. I am currently working on my third novel and recently realized the importance of my strangely wordy childhood.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called Catalina’s Tide. I had a few name ideas, but eventually chose Catalina’s Tide to reference Santa Catalina Island. I really wanted to write a book that was full of suspense and decided to place it in the later part of the 1990’s in order to play with a few historical events. Although it meant more research for me on the history of the island, I really loved having fun with the writing process and mixing fact with fiction.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
A very unusual writing habit of mine is that my best writing either happens when I’m alone on the beach or at three in the morning. I’ve tried writing at coffee shops and writing at normal hours and the results almost always feel forced. Another unusual habit is that I handwrite my first draft for every book and then go back and type them out. It’s very time consuming, but I feel more productive and better connected to my work when I use pen and paper.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I draw inspiration from every book that I read. There isn’t an author or style that hasn’t resonated with me in some fashion or another. I adore the dramatic works of William Shakespeare, but find myself riveted by the horror from Stephen King. Authors are wildly different, but generally tend to explore the broad and intangible nature of the human soul.

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on a book about modern witchcraft. It explores a bit of myth and mixes in the mess of a current world. It’s exciting because the possibilities when writing are relatively endless. The goal is to have it out in stores by September of 2020.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My method of promotion tends to be word of mouth from satisfied readers. I try to keep ads running on Amazon too, but my main source of promotion comes from people who enjoy my work as much as I do.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep going! You can finish that book or work up the courage to publish that article. Work hard and take pride in what you do and the rest will come. Writing is a difficult field because it requires both creativity and discipline to your craft. Everyone who is an author creates art, but not everyone has the confidence to share their art with the world. Make something that you absolutely love and forget about the fear of outside judgement. It doesn’t matter how many people see your work because at the end of the day it’s all about how you see your work. Make writing a joyful experience by working hard and not selling out your content to popular trends or opinions. There is a difference between a trend and a style so choose something that is timeless… your personal style.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be as kind to others as you want them to be kind to you. That ranges from doing little gestures of kindness without expecting anything in return to trying to understand someone else’s perspective. The world is only as warm as you make it.

What are you reading now?
I am currently reading The Awakening by Kate Chopin. The book was extremely controversial in its time and portrayed an alternative experience to the one expected of a proper woman in southern society. In general, I try to read a book a week, but my goal is to average two a week in 2020.

What’s next for you as a writer?
As a writer, I plan to continue practicing and free writing in order to strengthen my style and skills. I don’t plan to get comfortable in my skills and can’t wait to see where the future takes me! My goal is to publish three novels next year.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If stranded on an island I would most likely try to find a way to escape or create shelter before reading a book. If rescue was not in the near future then I would like to bring three books to pass the time. The first book would have to be a survival guide full of practical information. The second would be Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell. My third novel would definitely be The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The Great Gatsby makes the cut mainly because Gatsby’s extreme passion and delirious drive to achieve the impossible would be necessary to me keep strong when stranded on an island.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi my loves! I am Ela Rae~ The Warrior of Love. Registered Hospice Nurse specializing in hospice care/end of life. Single, homeschooling mom to 2 kids, 2 dogs and 2 cats. It is on my own journey with hospice and thousands of souls, now on the other side, I awoke to my gifts of deep intuition, seeing beyond the veil, communication with spirits, healing, and the deep wisdom and understanding of our soul’s journey here on Earth and the soul connections between all of us.

This is my first book I have written. I even sold my house, quit my job, moved me and the kids and pets into an apartment so I could write this book. Used my equity to live, to have the freedom to write.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Soul 2 Soul Through the Eyes of a Hospice Nurse

This book was inspired by sharing life with thousands of patients and family members over the years. From newborns to 100 year old plus old woman. A place where I learned the depth of true love and the oneness that connects us all. . Love beyond the color of our skin, beyond our education levels, beyond how much money we have, or what side of the tracks we are from. For, sharing end of life with thousands, I came to understand only love is real. It is in our sharing of life, connecting in love, we find all we are seeking for. It has always been right in front of us. Sharing, connecting

Facing death, every day, I only knew that I could not leave this earth someday at the end of my own life, not having written the books I came here to write. Writing, as Ela Rae The Warrior of Love is my soul’s desire and passion.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Probably the out of the blue, need to drop everything and suddenly write. It will come out of nowhere. The sudden need to allow God, Spirit, Creation, Love, inspiration to flow through me. Even driving down out seeing patients some days, suddenly I will need to pull over and write. Like many of you, if I don’t do it then and there, I will never remember. LOL

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Wayne Dyer was my greatest source of inspiration. I was in my darkest place in life. My ex husband had left right after our second child was born to live with another woman. Recovering from c section, my last year in nursing school, I stumbled across him one day on PBS. His message, somehow found its way through the fog around me.Breaking me free of the loss. Over the years, his message that has always stood out is, “don’t die with your music still in you. ” That phrase alone, has drivin my life, passion, to break free of the mundane, to live with my soul on fire as The Warrior of Love

What are you working on now?
The marketing for this book. I LOVE the creative aspect of writing. Now learning the business side. YUCK!

My next book though will likely be either Soulmates, dancing each other back into love through time (it’s about romantic partners in this life I have shared past lives with). Maybe Alchemy of Love . Maybe the journey to forgiving my ex husband for leaving when our second child was born.Maybe a book about living an inspired, soul centered, soul on fire life! IDK which one will come out first. They are all in various stages of writing. It will ultimatley be what feels right. Which book wants to come through first. Each book has its own soul and life force, life to be birthed. It will be up to the books, God/Spirit and my inner knowing.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
This is my first book and marketing. So I have nothing to share with you.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep pushing through. It may at times feel like it is an uphill battle all the way. But the day I hit publish, actually it was an accident. My bbok published itself 2 weeks early, but the joy and excitement was so worth every tear and inner battle I faced within me to get here.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Don’t die with your musice still in you!” Wayne Dyere

What are you reading now?
Nothing. I am a single, homeschooling, working mom that is writing and learning all about business and marketing. I am just happy I can take a bath a few times a week and other then the dog, no one follows me into bathroom! My kids are teenagers,

What’s next for you as a writer?
To continue writing and build my website, thewarrioroflove.com. I am doing everything backwards! LOL

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Four blank journals to write in!

Devi Nina Bingham

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an award-winning Author and life voyager who strives to inspire conscious living and conscious dialogue. I’ve published 6 books and will publish the 7th, “Messages From Metatron: A Course in Self-Transformation” in January 2020. I will publish it’s sequel, “Ten Angels Teach You How To Live An Inspired Life” in the later half of 2020. In 2021 I will publish the third of the angel series, “Archangel Raphael’s Big Book of Healing.”

Before I started channeling angels I had a regular life! I’ve earned an AA in Psychology, a BA in Applied Psychology, and completed my MS in Mental Health Counseling program. I am also a master-level Clinical Hypnotherapist and a Certified Sound Therapist. I’m a member of the International Alliance of Holistic Therapists and have been in private practice for 16 years. I live with my dog and can be found paddling my kayak on Arizona lakes where he serves as the fearless captain.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“Messages From Metatron: A Course in Self-Transformation” is my first channeled book, so because an Archangel dictated it, I’m going to have to say that it was inspired by Archangel Metatron. I know that sounds impossible, I can hardly believe I’m saying that! I had no clue what was in store for me until the messages started arriving in the middle of the night. I’d drag myself out of a sound sleep, brew a strong pot of coffee, and settle in to write. I received 30 messages over the course of 3 year’s time. I then added a study guide for individuals or groups so these angelic messages can be applied to everyday life.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Obviously, channeling is in itself unusual; few people have that gift, what is clairaudience, or the ability to hear the spirit world. I’ve never seen an angel like some people can, and I don’t see people’s auras, either. But like a psychic does, I hear messages from the Other Side clear as a bell. Often, that bell awakens me out of a dead sleep in the middle of the night. Channeling in this way, what could be termed nocturnal channeling, is quite unusual, even for psychics.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
The late world-renowned psychic Sylvia Browne’s books have influenced me the most. I’ve read every book she wrote, because it fascinated me how she could pull such detailed information out of the ethers, and how she did it so nonchalantly like it was second-nature to her. It wouldn’t be until years after Sylvia passed that I began receiving information from the Other Side. And by the way, according to my source’s information, Sylvia was right most of the time.

What are you working on now?
The sequel to “Messages From Metatron” is “Ten Angels Teach You How To Live An Inspired Life.” It is also channeled but is much shorter in length than “Messages From Metatron” which is a combined book and study guide. This second angel book features the inspiring and uplifting messages of ten Archangels, including St. Michael, St. Gabriel, and Archangel Raphael.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My blog is: ninabingham.blogspot.com, and to purchase my books go to: http://www.amazon.com/author/ninabingham

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t quit your day job! Being an author sounds glamorous, but it actually requires a lot of elbow grease, a ton of perseverance, and a boatload of time. It is a labor of love because there are so few books that make it to the top of the book heap. Writing hardly pays. I’m not saying it’s impossible to write a best-seller, but the competition has gotten mighty steep. View it as a side job that you do because you must write, a glorified hobby-and when you retire, you can devote all your spare time to it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Best writing advice came from my publisher, and she said: “You don’t have to be the best technical writer but write bravely.” In other words, don’t be afraid to bare your soul for the world to see. Write as if you were talking to your most trusted friend and let the audience into your inner world, completely. Publishers can fix sloppy grammar and even disorderly writing, but they cannot dig into your soul and bring up that writing gold for you. I learned not to hide behind the words-instead, be the words.

What are you reading now?
I am re-reading a trilogy by Rebecca Wells, author of, “Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood.” My favorite book is the first in that series entitled, “Little Altars Everywhere.” It’s a delightful romp through the memories of childhood as told through the eyes of different children of the same Southern plantation family.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I would have never imagined I’d be channeling books (much less a series of books), so I’m hesitant to say what’s on the horizon. But if my series of angel books do well, I can imagine there are many more characters in the Universe who might step up to the plate and have a crack at authoring a book in this unconventional way. The angels picked me, I didn’t pick them, so any future channeled books will likely happen the same way these did: by surprising me in a spontaneous fashion, and inconveniently!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I’m a Hindu, so I would take Hindu scriptures like the Bhagavad Gita to keep my spirits up and to remind me that life is short and to be enjoyed, whatever the circumstances. I believe that’s all I’d really need.

I’m a 67-year-old retired Massachusetts Correction Officer, Security Officer for the State of Florida, and Computer Data Assistant for Nielsen Media Research, now living in Keller, Texas. I published the political information book, Some People Are Like The Old Prospector’s Mule, in 2015 and then converted it to a Kindle eBook in 2017. I’m the former editor of the Union Leader newspaper and weekly Bullet for the Massachusetts Correction Officers Federated Union; newsletter editor and chairman of the West Bridgewater Republican Town Committee; newsletter editor and Secretary for the Charleston Park Homeowner’s Association, North Port, Florida. I’ve also recorded and published three original music CDs.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest work is titled, CORRECTION OFFICER: The Other Side Of The Wall. The idea of writing a book about my career as a Correction Officer was spawned 30-odd years ago but suffered from a serious shortage of inspiration and motivation until 2017. I desired to share my experiences working in the Massachusetts corrections system with a public that has little knowledge of what Correction Officers endure behind the walls. We truly walk the toughest beat!

Ann Rhodes

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Ann B. Rhodes and I began writing when I was 8 years old. I discovered my gift of writing in my 6th grade language arts class. I have published two poetry books, “From the Beginning until Now” and “A Sight to Behold”. Just recently, I published my first devotional book, “A Daily Reflection”. My books are based my strong relationship with God and how I strongly depend on him in life.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“A Daily Reflection” is my lastest book and my strong belief in God inspired me to write it. My background is writing poetry books, but I wanted to write something different.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write down anything that pops into my head. I always keep a journal so I don’t forget any important thoughts.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
The late Dr. Maya Angelou is an author who influenced me to write. After watching her read her poem, “On the Pulse of Morning” at the inaugration of President Clinton, it made me realize that it is important for people to hear my voice and the message that God has given me to speak.

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on another devotional book that will be published at the beginning of 2020.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I always seek feedback from my launch team members about new books that I might have coming out.

Do you have any advice for new authors?

George Rogan

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written my very first kindle book. I am a trained scientist and medical writer, and work as a scientific director leading a medical writing team that interprets and writes cancer clinical trial data for publication in publications such as the New England Journal of Medicine. Writing (and reading) is my passion as it is for many. The use of words to teach, uplift, illuminate, encourage, or entertain to me is a noble calling and is a personal mission of mine.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My first book is a nonfiction work called Then Came the Dawn under a pen name. I wrote the book to help out in this scourge of bullying/suicide affecting so many young people. I’d love to see this book get some traction in order to lend a voice of hope to either those hurting or those wanting to help. I have personal experience with this issue when I was a student. By the time I reached middle school, occasional bullying incidents had exploded into relentless daily humiliation at the hands of at least twenty-five bullies or “tormentors” who made my life miserable. During this period, I was targeted almost every day and night. My future seemed to be nothing but endless misery. Suffering from an intense self-hatred, soul-crushing despair drained my strength to go on. The idea of suicide seemed to be an “easy” and quick escape. In my experience the toxic effects of so many accumulated lies about who we truly are masks our real worth and value. We get worn down and become vulnerable to want to do anything to escape. We need to challenge and stop believing the poisonous labels others have given us. This book is the battle plan I developed to attack every suicidal thought, and conquer my freedom from toxic labels and despair. The self-taught training program I developed helped me overcome the severe limitations of negativity and self-sabotage. I chose to fight back hard with the truth that gave me the freedom to live. Knowing the truth can set you free, and you can find rest for your soul, but you must decide to fight the negativity. You don’t need to be suicidal to benefit from this training. You just need to want to overcome your limitations. My most important decisions have been to live, overcome my inner strongholds of negativity, and give my life to help others. Hope my journey can enhance the journey of many others!

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I try to use multiple angles to make a similar point. I look to provide as many “Aha” or epiphany moments as I can. I also write in a combined style of teaching and encouragement/inspirational. I wrote this book as if I was meeting regularly with the readers. As such, it is written directly to the readers as if I was speaking to them during a get together.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I read quite a bit of biographical material. I glean so very much from the lives of others who have overcome adversity to proactively use their lives, mission and purpose to help others.

What are you working on now?
I am just starting now to sketch out ideas for a book series on encouragement. We all go through so much in the way of life trials. I am so inspired by those who find a way to overcome and they become an inspiration and blessing to so many others.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Honestly, I am just starting out on this promotion pathway so perhaps Awesome Gang is the way to go.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Be tenacious. Don’t give up your dream. Be persistent. Know what you want to say and who you are trying to reach. Get rid of any self-imposed timeline. Do all that it takes to get your writing the best it can be no matter how long it takes. I rewrote so much of the book and scoured it repeatedly before I felt it was even ready to be tested by a select few I trusted would be honest with me. Then I invested in a professional editor to clean it up.
Learn the business end of self-publishing as you are writing. Getting the book uploaded to Amazon does not mean it sells itself. Get the training you need to promote your book. Don’t ever give up!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Learn from those who have gone through tough times and don’t up. We need to let hope empower us through everything we may have to endure. When we make it, we can then be there for others who are going through trials. We will enter their lives as those who have overcome and lend them a hand, a heart, and a hope.

What are you reading now?
The Power of Positive Energy

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m learning how to get the word out so to speak. I want to be more involved in helping those who are enduring the effects of bullying and the damage it does. It’s quite a challenge to rebuild a shattered sense of your worth and value when you go through something like that- especially when young. I would love to give what I learned coming out of all that to lend a hand.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, A Tale of Two Cities, The Count of Monte Cristo
