Awesome Author - Roberta Grieve

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
To date I have written and had published twelve full-length novels as well as several novellas.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is ‘Daisy’s War and is the first in a trilogy called ‘A Family at War’. I have long wanted to write about the Isle of Sheppey in Kent where I grew up and setting a story there during World War Two just came naturally as several of my books feature the two world wars. I moved to the island as a child in 1950 but there were still signs of wartime damage, defence installations etc. and rationing was still in place, so it wasn’t hard to picture what life was like for my fictional family, the Bishops. I still had ro do a lot of research though.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not unusual as such but I don’t have a set writing place and I am not very organised. At present I am using a laptop on my dining table but I do have a little office upstairs as well. I scribble in various notebooks when travelling into town on the bus but sometimes find it hard to transcribe my dreadful handwriting onto the computer.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
My favourite author when I was young was Catherine Cookson and I was hooked on her northern sagas. I always wanted to write like her. I am an avid reader and enjoy different genres especially crime and thrillers.

What are you working on now?
I have now started on the second book in my trilogy which will continue the story of Daisy and her family with a focus on her older sister Sylvia who is in the WAAFs

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I post on my Facebook pages – a general one and my writer page. I am now discovering more ways to promote my work such is this site which was recommended by my publisher.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just write – and keep on writing even when you are discouraged.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The same as the answer to the last question.

What are you reading now?
The Room by the Lake by Emma Dibdin. It is an intriguing psychological drama, very different to the sort of story I write.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to complete my trilogy and then I have several ideas fighting for first place in my head.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
This is very difficult. I think I would choose at least one Dickens novel, possibly ‘Our Mutual Friend’ which I have been meaning to re-read. I am not overly religious but I would take the Bible, the King James version which I grew up with. Another classic would go on the list, either ‘Little Women’ or ‘What Katy Did.’

Awesome Author - Matthew Faulkner

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi, hello there everyone 🙂 I bet half of you clicked away already 😛

I have been writing books since 2013, I know, super long time. Electricity was just starting to come around then. Just Kidding!

Currently I have three published books:

The Tales of The Chosen

The Tales of The Chosen: Phoenix Fire

The Tales of The Chosen: Illusion

I really enjoy Mystery, Suspense, Action, Drama, Science Fiction, Romance so I written this book trilogy to reflect my passion but at the same time making an enjoyable yet short read for my fans! I know your time is limited so I wrote super focused yet imaginative stories to take your brain to new realities and possibly old ones.

The point of these tales is for the busy person, the one who has no time to do anything in their day BUT they still may have 10-15 minutes to relax and read.

My whole goal in writing these tales was to pull the everyday person out of their daily routine and ENJOY life a little. To break free of your daily routine! The spacing of chapters throughout the book allow individuals to read in small, time managed segments without comprising the flow of the story as a whole.

Let’s be honest, some of you may binge the story in one sitting. I’m honored 🙂

I very carefully crafted the prices of these books and worked heavily with vendors to ensure a super low cost to you regardless of how few pennies I receive for each book sale.

After reading the stories and if you absolutely loved them. Fill free to donate: paypal.me/mattfaulkner

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest Tale is, The Tales of The Chosen: Illusion.

The FINAL chapter of the trilogy series which dives deeply into your perception of reality. I definitely recommend that you read the first two stories before this one.

Which Are:
The Tales of The Chosen

The Tales of The Chosen: Phoenix Fire

A Little about this final story:

Cherry and Gingerbread continue their journey while forming new alliances with Chief’s underground rebel group. Surprisingly, everything goes perfectly; a little too perfect. Cherry begins to suspect the unexpected while creating a false front to ward off the other weary eyes. Not everyone is fooled, Cherry only has so much time left. Come read the EPIC conclusion of the Tales of the Chosen Book Series!

The inspiration of this trilogy as a whole was to break up the daily grind of life. To have a little fun before you have to “go to work”. To give the reader something to talk about for years to come.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I enjoy Psychological thriller! The art of writing one is my secret 🙂 The joy of reading them is for everyone 😀

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Suzanne Collins (Hunger Games) and Veronica Roth (Divergent)

What are you working on now?
Small short stories, they are free of course.

http://www.itotallyrandomstuff.com

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
facebook, just make a fan page and fill out the information.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Your style of writing should be designed by your own creativity and you shouldn’t look to others to validate it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write a book, you will come a millionaire. 🙂

What are you reading now?
Steven Kings “The Mist”

What’s next for you as a writer?
To Live, Love, and write 🙂

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
3 – 4 copies of the Hunger Games. Hehe.

Awesome Author - Rhiannon Futch

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
About myself… I have lived on both coasts of the US, my daughters are still mad about all the moving. My dogs are awesome former shelter puppies and completely spoiled but always leashed when out of the house. Each is spayed or neutered, because I don’t want to contribute to there being more shelter puppies.
I have written 3 books so far, with a fourth in progress. The first two are herbal books because I was a community herbalist for roughly 20 years. They are titled Rhiannon’s Teas and Things and Children and Herbs. The third is my favorite and most recent, Selena Rose: Daughter of the Moon.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Selena Rose: Daughter of the Moon. It is the first book in the Daughter of the Moon Trilogy. What inspired it? My love of all things witchy and strong women. My main character is a single mom and she handles her life and everything that entails with strength and grace like so many of the amazing women I know. She is the kind of character I want to read.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know that they are strange but my habits are:
1. Tea. All the different teas, probably a holdover from my herbalist years. My favorite commercial suppliers are Traditional Medicinals and Stash. The peach blend Stash tea is my favorite.
2. My outlines are pretty limited, basically a chapter overview for each chapter.
3. Music. I need music to block out the humans in my house.
4. I write best with my dogs lounging around me. They don’t always cooperate.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
So many books, I am just going to list a few favorite authors: Stephen King, Mercedes Lackey, the Eddings, L.E. Modesitt, Piers Anthony, V.C. Andrews, Nora Roberts, The Encyclopedia Brittanica.

What are you working on now?
I am working on book two in my Daughter of the Moon trilogy, Thorns of the Rose. It will go live on February 1, 2020. I hope to have book 3 plotted and up for pre-order before book 2 goes live.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My best method is getting my books to sites like this that have the audience that is looking for my books already. Honestly, I have found sites that I wish I had known about as a reader a long time ago. Oh, you want to send me an email filled with books in the genre I read? Where tf do I sign up for that?

Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice is to write the book. You can fix anything in edits, but you can’t fix what you don’t create. The best/most famous authors all have first drafts and tons of edits. Also, be self-aware. Is writing the thing you love doing even when it sucks? If it isn’t, think about whether or not it is actually what you want to pursue as a career.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Elizabeth Gilbert related a story told to her by, I think it was Rob Bell. The story was about crabs in a bucket. The gist of it was that if one crab starts to get out of the bucket the others will pull it back, keep it trapped like they are. She said often friends or family will be like that and that you have to cut those people out. With love if you can, with clear and firm boundaries if you can’t. That advice has helped me more than any other.

What are you reading now?
Well, that is a list…
Witch Forgotten by V. Vaughn, I just got the Prophecy of Magic collection, Everything is Figure Outable by Marie Forleo, every Witches of Keating Hollow that Deanna Chase releases, Rival Demons by Sarra Cannon, Outlining Your Novel by K.M. Weiland (just finished, audio), and a few others from the library.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I am going to keep writing and exploring the world that is begun with this trilogy. I have multiple other books planned in this same world, and I can’t wait to see where they take me.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Polgara the Sorceress and the All Soul’s Trilogy. I have read all of those books multiple times and I still love reading them.

Awesome Author - Paul Aster Cohen

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Living on the coast definitely has its perks. Moving to Corpus Christi with the beach just a few minutes away has lead me to start writing professionally for a few years and submitting short stories and novels for publication. I currently have two short stories in two anthologies and am gearing up to release two novellas back-to-back this month and next.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“I Wear My Sunglasses at Night” is the latest book that was, of course, inspired by the Corey Hart’s song of the same name. When I was a kid I just always thought it was about vampires, so a few years back I attempted to make my idea into a short film but couldn’t get funding. Then, after reading multiple bad vampire stories, I decided I should take a whack at it. Hopefully mine’s not added to someone else’s bad list.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
The only thing that’s slightly unusual is I listen to music which has inspired scenes or plot changes a few times. I make sure to never listen to the same bands or singers once I complete a book, unless it’s a sequel.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Stephen King and Ray Bradbury were the first. I think I read King’s “Night Shift” when I was 9 or 10 and it scared the bejesus out of me. I’ll read anything really, as long as it has a nice book cover (I do judge a book by its cover).

What are you working on now?
I’ll be releasing the next novella, “Once Upon a Time in Rehab”, in November as well as attending several launch parties for my other works. I’ll also be working on two sequels to “Sunglasses” that will be released really next year.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I haven’t figured that out yet.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write. Authors are a procrastinating bunch and the world is full of them.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I met David Morrell, author of “First Blood” at a book signing once and he said “The only way you’re ever going to be a writer is if you write something.” So I did. A lot of things.

What are you reading now?
Old paperback horror books.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m just going to keep on writing and promoting myself.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Stand, A Scanner Darkly, The Martian Chronicles, Pride and Prejudice

Awesome Author - Tara Lain

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi. I’m Tara Lain and i write the Beautiful Boys of Romance — unique, charismatic heroes in contemporary and paranormal MM romance. Quarterbacks and cops, werewolves and witches, blue collar or billionaires, my characters love deeply, resolve seemingly insurmountable differences, and ultimately live their lives authentically. I have 50 published books, many of them in audio and translations as well. I live in Ashland, Oregon with my soulmate husband and my soulmate dog. I’m likely a Gryffindor or maybe a Ravensclaw but possessed of Parseltongue. I love animals of all kinds, diversity, open minds, coconut crunch ice cream from Zoeys, and my readers.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My next release is LOVE AND LINGUISTICS, my contemporary, MM homage to My Fair Lady. It was a real labor of love because i rewrote it several times over 2 years, which is very unusual for me. The challenge was that i started thinking of My Fair Lady as a sweet romcom and then realized that someone who doesn’t have a place to feel safe or enough to eat just isn’t a comedy. Still, the book comes out far more romantic that the play and i am very happy with how it came out. It’s on preorder at Dreamspinner Press right now and will be released Nov 26, 2019.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Because i started as a nonfiction marketing writer in a busy office, i trained myself to write with noise, conversations and even television playing. But i can’t listen to music! Somehow music is the one thing that interferes with my right-brain writing. I also write from start to finish editing a bit as i go and, generally, when i finish the draft, I’m very close to finished with the book.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I became a MM romance writer by accident! I was writing my first book, had just started, and read a book by a favorite author, Jet Mykles. The books i had read previously by Jet were M/F romances, but i ordered a new book without paying much attention to the story or blurb, and when it came i discovered to my amazement that it was a story about 2 men! I read the book and fell in love with the dynamic, the lack of gender roles, and much more. That was 50 books ago. I’d say Jet had a big influence!

What are you working on now?
My current story is called BETTER RED and it’s the first book in a new series taking place in a mystical small town in New York where amazing things happen much like fairy tales you might have read. The stories will be contemporary with a heavy dose of magic.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I love my newsletter and FB Reader Group, HEA, Magic and Beautiful Boys. Readers can subscribe to my newsletter at
http://visitor.r20.constantcontact.com/d.jsp?llr=jwbsibjab&p=oi&m=1109217838793&sit=bt77devgb&f=fab8ff77-02bf-4211-a7fa-c0f83d7a9ff0

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes, having a backlist is the thing that will propel you as an author because readers have more than one book to buy, but building an author brand identity at the same time you build your backlist is also important because when you have something to buy, you want someone ready to buy it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
In order to have something i’ve never had, I must be willing to do what I’ve never done.

What are you reading now?
I’m an audiobook freak so i listen. I’m currently listening to some books in the Firsts and Forever Series by Alexa Land and i always go back to the Her Royal Spyness series by Rhys Bowen.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Most of my 50 books are traditionally published. After all that, i’m planning to do more self-publishing while i’m staying traditionally published. That means i have MUCH to learn. LOL

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Oh wow! I’d definitely take Pride and Prejudice, The Importance of Being Earnest plus other plays by Oscar Wilde in collection, The Bhagavad Gita, and a wonderful romance by one of a hundred favorite authors!

Awesome Author - Roger Ley

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve written four books. The first was a collection of autobiographical funny stories, how I got arrested and imprisoned in Colonel Qaddafi’s Libya for instance. Not funny at the time. The book’s called ‘A Horse in the Morning.’ If you read it you’ll know more than enough about me so I won’t say any more about myself.
Next I wrote a time travel novel called ‘Chronoscape.’ In order to help advertise ‘Chronoscape’ I started writing flash fiction. This led to me publishing a collection of SF stories called ‘Dead People on Facebook.’

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is a spin off from ‘Chronoscape’ called ‘The Muslim Prince.’ It’s a Techno Thriller and slightly futuristic. I wrote it because I’ve always wondered what would happen to the British Royal Family if Princess Diana hadn’t died.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
None that I wish to talk about!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Stephen Baxter, David Brin, Arthur C Clarke, Isaac Asimov and many more

What are you working on now?
Marketing ‘The Muslim Prince.’ i find writing short stories relatively easy but selling books is hard.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I wish I knew. I hope it’s this one.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Find something else to do? Something easy like brain surgery.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Read, read, read, write, write, write.

What are you reading now?
Stephen Baxter’s ‘Manifold’ trilogy.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Fame, fortune, piles and piles of money?

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Lord of the Rings by JRRT, A Cure for Serpents by The Duke of Pirajno, His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman, Eon by Greg Bear.

Awesome Author - Elizabeth Hill

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I left a career in Credit Management and Litigation to become an author. I published my first novel in April 2019.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My Novel is ‘Killing The Girl’ and it was inspired by how life is different now for women compared to the 1970’s.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
For a writer I can spend many hours not writing!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
My main influences have been Daphne Du Maurier, Ruth Rendell, PJ James, Minette Walters, Fay Weldon – I could go on …

What are you working on now?
My new novel is called (at the moment) French Kiss. It’s about a woman who disappears in France.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still looking for ways that best promote my book.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice for new authors is don’t publish an amended first draft. First drafts are for the bin so bin them. Use what you learned whilst writing it and start again taking the essence and writing your ‘fit to publish novel’.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Your novel will be finished when you have perfected it to the point that you are sick of it! Then it’s time to set it on it’s journey around the world.

What are you reading now?
Murder mysteries and How to learn French.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Finishing my second novel to the same high standard as my first novel.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
A Thesaurus, French instruction, a murder mystery and a comedy.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a wildland firefighter by trade by a life coach, NLP practitioner, fitness trainer, and writer by passion. After thirteen years on the fireline. I have decided to retire from the line to pursue my dreams as an author, mentor and business owner.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
I just published Overcome Anxiety Like a Hero: Master Your Health, Connect with Your Inner Peace, and Summon Flow. After overcoming severe anxiety, health challenges, I received a spiritual awakening during deep meditation. I will never the same person again. I am now on a mission to help people through life coaching, NLP, fitness training, and writing.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
During my fight with anxiety and health challenges, I started to become a hypochondriac. This still plays a small role when I am grocery shopping. I really get attached to reading all of the ingredients of everything I put on or in my body. Maybe a little obsessive but I feel so dang good all of the time now.

Also, I have struggled with sleep my entire life and I have good months and bad weeks sometimes still. So I listen I am an avid Coast to Coast AM listener and George Noory the host is one of my true heroes.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Steven Pressfield – The War of Art
Graham Hancock – Supernatural
Tom Brown Jr – Awakening Spirits

Dr. Matt James – Mental Emotional Release

What are you working on now?
I have 1 small book that I just published too. Called Internal Leadership
I have 2 more books with the editors that are a deep dive into spirituality and my experiences through my awakening process. I worked with my Chinese medicine doctor to write the entire book from inspirations during trance states.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Going to Self Publish school really gave me the advantage to learn every tiny detail when it comes to writing, publishing, and selling books. With the material and a coaching call every few weeks, the program really helped me.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write every day and make a ritual. Get Grammarly and find an amazing editor.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Follow your heart and listen to your gut even when your logical mind gives you a million excuses why you shouldn’t be happy.

What are you reading now?
The Prosperous Coach – Steve Chandler and Rich Litvin
Quantum Consciousness – Peter Smith

What’s next for you as a writer?
I am looking to team up with the Wildland Firefighter Foundation and start making a difference in the wildland fire community. There is a lot of unspoken grief, emotional trauma, and stress that firefighters need help expressing.
More books, I have 10 planned right now. More speaking. Helping other people to reach their highest potential every day is one of my goals.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Tao of Physics – Fritjof Capra

Awesome Author - Patricia Elliott

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a romance writer from beautiful British Columbia. I currently live in a city that is famous for being known as the city of parks. Nothing like walking down the road and feeling like you are live in the country.

I’ve currently written 6 novels and a variety of short stories. Currently, two novels and four short stories have been published. My published pieces are:

Novels:

Her Lover’s Face
Not You Again!

Short Stories:

Wanted Courage (Published in “Flashpoint: The Inner Circle Writers’ Group Flash Fiction Anthology 2019”)
Never Far Away (Published in “Rapture: The Inner Circle Writers’ Group Romance Anthology 2018)
Love from the Mist (Published in “Mystic Desire” A Supernatural Anthology)
Love Knows No Apocalypse (Published in “Mystic Desire” A supernatural Anthology

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is “Not You Again!”

It is currently up for pre-order on Amazon until November 21, 2019. Most of my stories are inspired by real life events. Many people face devastating losses and struggle to cope with the pain. This story was an attempt to help people see that we don’t have to be defined by our pain, and we don’t have to reject future happiness because of fear. We can rise up and live beyond the pain.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Nothing super unusual, but I always have to have my trusty Dr. Pepper to give my mind the energy it needs to be creative. *lol*

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I would have to say my biggest influence is Nora Roberts. Her novels gave me a desire for Romantic Suspense. She creates amazing page-turners. I have trouble putting her books down.

Also, I met a fellow writer a few years back, Heather Teston. She gave me the courage to pursue publishing. Without her, I wouldn’t have found the strength to seek out a publisher.

What are you working on now?
I have numerous projects in the works. I have some spicy stories that I’ll be preparing for publication, but currently, I’ve been writing an episodic series that delves into the zombie apocalypse. I’ve been a zombie fan for as long as I can remember and figured that I might as well give it a go. They can really get your heart pumping.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I think the best method would have to be having a street team. We help promote each other’s books on a variety of social media sites. Nothing beats having a group of people who love your genre of choice as much as you.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
My biggest advice is to always believe in yourself. If you want to write, do it. If you have a dream, go after it. No one can stop you, but you.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you believe it, you can achieve it. Okay, I might not be able to fly(superpower wish), but anything is in the realm of possibility if you don’t let negativity stop you.

What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading my publisher’s newest anthology, “Mystic Desire.” I haven’t read the whole book yet, but I really enjoyed The Sweetest Magic of All by Alice Renaud. Her writing style is simply amazing.

I’m also reading the biography of my friend, Charlotte Lozano. Keep an eye open for her books in the future. She has a harrowing tale to tell. She will also be releasing a series of children’s books.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Besides writing more books? That’s a good question. I really want to start writing a blog on my website, “patriciaelliottromance.com”. I’ve never been much of a blogger, but anything that help promote an author, or a wonderful cause, can never be a bad thing. Right?

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The bible(best book in my opinion). You can never read it enough.

The Ultimate Survival Manual by Richard Johnson. You need a survival book, otherwise I probably wouldn’t survive. *lol*

Under the Dome by Stephen King. If you’ve seen the size of this book, you’ll know why. It’ll keep me occupied for a long time.

Awesome Author - John M. Cahill

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born and raised in historic western Massachusetts, and it was as a child that my lifelong interest in American colonial history began. I earned my B.A. in Journalism from the University of Massachusetts and enjoyed a successful and rewarding career in public relations and social marketing with New York State government. While living in New York’s Mohawk Valley, I immersed myself in the history of colonial New York and explored the interaction of Dutch, English and French settlers with their Iroquois neighbors. Now retired, I have the opportunity to share what I have learned about this thrilling period of history through my quartet of novels, The Boschloper Saga.
In Book 1 of the Saga, Primitive Passions, Sean O’Cathail deserts from the English navy in New York harbor and finds his way to the frontier town of Albany, where he becomes a fur trader. There, he joins Dutch and Canadian adventurers who are competing to control the fur trade; while their English and French masters use diplomacy or force to suppress the natives; and, the natives do all they can to preserve their way of life. In this environment, Sean becomes colonial envoy to the Iroquois. He faces adversity, danger and intrigue while securing the English-Iroquois alliance and thwarting the efforts of the French to divide and conquer the Five Iroquois Nations. Even the women who love him – his Mohawk lover, Kai, and the Dutch bond servant, Laurentje van Reuyter – are eventually swept up in the primitive passions of the savage frontier of the 1680s.
In Book 2 of the Saga, Savage Wilderness, it is four years later. The English Colony of New York is in dire financial straits. The flow of beaver pelts, the life’s blood of the colony, has slowed to a trickle. In response, New York’s governor grants licenses to Albany traders to enter French territory and divert the furs of the Far Indians from Montreal to Albany. Although only recently married to Laurentje, Sean O’Cathail joins the small group of adventurers who have the courage to face the savage wilderness. However, the governor of New France learns of their plans, and the traders face capture by the French and their savage allies. Optimistic that they can avoid detection, Sean and his fellow boschlopers begin to cross the Great Lakes. But, when they are surrounded and captured, Sean finds that his adventure is only just beginning. He will need all his wits and the help of Kai, the beautiful Mohawk woman who was once his lover, to survive and return home to his pregnant wife.
Book 3 of the Saga, The Trail of a Traitor, is set in 1689, after the Glorious Revolution in England placed William of Orange on the English throne and King Louis of France has declared war on England. Sean O’Cathail’s longtime nemesis, has turned traitor and joined with the French and their Huron allies in raiding the homesteads and hamlets of New York. After Cox participates in the massacre at Schenectady, Sean vows to bring him to justice. But, before Sean can act, Cox kidnaps Megan O’Reilly, the woman who loves Sean. Can Sean save Megan? Can Sean bring Cox to justice? To do so, he must follow the trail of a traitor.
Book 4 of the Saga, The Trail of a Traitor, is set in 1689-90, after the Glorious Revolution in England placed William of Orange on the English throne; and, King Louis of France declared war on England. Jeremy Cox, Sean O’Cathail’s longtime nemesis, has turned traitor and joined with the French and their Huron allies in raiding the homesteads and hamlets of New York.
Book 4 of the Saga, Beyond the Wilderness, is currently a work in Progress.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
As I said earlier, my latest book is The Trail of a Traitor. It is scheduled for release in the first week of December 2019 by W&B Book Publishers. It was inspired by true events in the Colony of New York in 1689-90. The French were raiding the homes and hamlets of New York. The massacre at Schenectady really did occur on February 1, 1690. The legitimate government in New York was in a shambles and an obscure German merchant, Jacob Leisler, did seize control, declare himself lieutenant governor and accuse all Catholics in the colony of being allies of the French.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Unlike many of my fellow writers, I find that I am most creative in the late afternoon-early evening.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
My goodness! Among living authors, I have to point to Bernard Cornwell. His historical novels are exciting, adventurous and humorous with a unforgettable protaganists. Among the deceased, I would have to say Robert Louis Stevenson, James Fenimore Cooper and Mark Twain.

What are you working on now?
As I said earlier, I have just started on Book 4 of the Boschloper Saga. It is tentatively entitled Beyond the Frontier and explores the first, tentative steps in what would later become America’s push westward.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Up to now, I have primarily promoted my books on Facebook. I am now trying to expand my reach through other vehicles, like Awesome Gang.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never give up!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
KISS: Keep it simple, stupid!

What are you reading now?
I am currently reading John Grisham’s The Reckoning. When not immersed in history, I am a diehard Crime & Thrillers fan.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I will keep working on Beyond the Frontier and promoting all of my previous works.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would take Treasure Island, Northwest Passage, Huckleberry Finn and The History of the Irish Race.

Awesome Author - Kenton Hall

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Until recently, I have largely written for film and theatre, including the feature film “A Dozen Summers” which I also directed, and the play “The Public Interest”. I have written short stories for various anthologies in a variety of genres and will have a novella published in a science fiction charity anthology in November. Bisection is my first published long-form prose work.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Bisection is my current book and it was an attempt to come to terms with my experience as both a parent of twins and a survivor of bipolar disorder. So many mental health books take either a po-faced or “gee whiz” approach to the subject that I thought I could contribute something different to the conversation. I approached it as if Douglas Adams was writing about mental health – albeit without the benefit of his genius.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write almost everywhere. As one of my jobs is as a working actor, I’ve written on coaches, trains, in bus stations and street corners. As long as I have a laptop or, failing that, a cocktail napkin I’m working. I have to leave the house though. I’m useless in my own home. Again, being a single Dad, there are too many things in my eyeline that need cleaning to work in the house. As much as the thought of writing sans trousers appeals.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I mentioned Douglas Adams, but also Joseph Heller, Margaret Atwood, Philip Roth, Jeanette Winterson, Dorothy Parker, O Henry, Toni Morrison, Damon Runyan, Charles Dickens, Walter Mosley… It’s a long and rather complicated list.

What are you working on now?
The next work after the novella – which is due… oh dear – I’m juggling a pair of novels that are competing for my attention. In pole position at the moment is a comic fantasy about how we view disability and difference. There’s a horse in it. That’s all I’m prepared to say at the moment.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I like grassroots promotion – I like to talk to people, put the social in social media – but I’m still experimenting. My current project is one of which I’m inordinately proud, so I’m trying a bit of everything. I have a lovely small publisher behind it, which is helpful, but these days, an author really has to be in the thick of it.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Finish something. Even if you throw it on the fire (don’t throw it on the fire), the very act of typing “The End” or “Fin” or “Go Home Now!” is incredibly rewarding and teaches you a lot about structure and discipline.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Market what you write, don’t write for a market.

What are you reading now?
March Violets by Philip Kerr and My Sister, The Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite.

What’s next for you as a writer?
The usual mixture of creative flights and financial despair.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Catch-22 – Joseph Heller
Long Dark Teatime of the Soul – Douglas Adams
Alias Grace – Margaret Atwood
Devil in a Blue Dress – Walter Mosley

Awesome Author - Eileen O’Finlan

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My debut novel, Kelegeen, was published by BWL Publishing, Inc. in March of 2018. I am currently working on the sequel.

Kelegeen is historical fiction set in Ireland during the Great Hunger (aka the Potato Famine).

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Kelegeen is my first book. When I was working on my undergraduate degree in history my professor suggested I keep a diary as if I was a priest in Ireland at the time of the Great Hunger. Since I’ve always loved creative writing I really enjoyed that assignment. When it was completed, I realized I had the basis for a novel. After many years, a lot of hard work, and several rewrites, it became Kelegeen.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I can’t write with competing words. What I mean by that is there can’t be people talking, a TV or radio on, or music with lyrics playing. If someone has the TV on in the house and I can hear it, I have to put on instrumental music or some sort of white noise to block it. I also like to write while listening to Mozart.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
My favorite book is Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. I fell in love with that book when I was young. I identified with Jo March so much I wanted to be her. I also loved the Nancy Drew series. When I got a bit older I found that I loved the classics. Jane Eyre is my favorite, but I also love Hawthorne’s The House of the Seven Gables and The Blithedale Romance. Along with all those, I devoured books by Stephen King and, later, Anne Rice. In high school and for a while afterwards I read all the historical romance novels I could get my hands on. From there I went on to historical fiction and historical non-fiction. All of it put together has had an influence on my writing.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on the sequel to Kelegeen. It is set in Worcester, Massachusetts in the 1850s and follows the lives the characters who came to America to escape the Great Hunger in Ireland. The title will be Erin’s Children.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m pretty active on Goodreads, but I think I get quite a bit of promotional use from Facebook.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Expect to do most of the heavy lifting when it comes to promoting your book. Learn all you can about marketing using social media and otherwise. Like it or not, in this day and age, writing the book is only the first half of your job. Promoting it is the second half. If you’re anything like me the second half is harder. Start learning how to do it now before it hits you all at once. This is true whether you are traditionally published or self-published.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Don’t think of yourself as an author only. Think of yourself as the CEO of Eileen O’Finlan.” This advice came from the marketing company I hired to help me. I literally had to learn from square one how to market my book even though it was traditionally published. It was and continues to be a steep learning curve, but I’m very appreciative of that advice. Marketing is not enjoyable for me, nor does it come naturally. I’d much rather spend my time writing. The cold, hard fact is that authors have to do most of their own marketing these days. That’s just the way it is and the sooner you embrace it the better off you’ll be.

What are you reading now?
Right now I’m reading The Institute by Stephen King, Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, and The Priority of Christ by Robert Barron.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Completing the sequel to Kelegeen, researching for my next novel which will be set in 1830s Vermont, and finishing a cat-themed story.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott because I can read that book over and over and never get sick of it
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte – another book I can read multiple times
Catholicism by Robert Barron
Since for the most part, I don’t like to read books more than once, I’d take a few books that look really interesting, but I haven’t read yet and hope they’re really good!

Awesome Author - Barbara Baldwin

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I love to travel and explore new places, which usually means each of my novels is set in a different locale. I have been published in formats from poetry and short stories to full-length fiction. I currently have 21 full length novels on the market. I also had the opportunity through my work to write and co-produce a documentary on state history which won state and national awards. Just for fun, each year I write a Christmas short story for family and friends—some heartfelt and others whimsical – but always a gift from my heart. These have been compiled into a book called “Christmas Quilt Anthology”. I have an MA in Communication and have taught from Kindergarten to college. I also love to create art through pottery, fused glass and quilts.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“Loving Charlie Forever” is my latest and it is a time travel romance. The inspiration was panic driven as I had no idea where my next story idea would come from. I thought about a western, set in South Dakota so I started researching the gold period and outlaws of the day. That’s when it hit me — why not write a story about an author who goes to South Dakota to research and write his next novel about gold mining and outlaws.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write on bits of paper, in a journal, postit notes, whatever I can get my hands on at the moment a thought or scene comes to me. Once it was on the back of a wedding invitation. I don’t write by schedule. Some days it may be a page or nothing at all. Other days its all day and into the next morning.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I fell in love with romance reading Kathleen Woodiwiss, Amanda Quick and Catherine Coulter.

What are you working on now?
I’m in the pre-panic period of brainstorming my next fiction story which is too bare at the moment to say more. I am also working on a creativity journal for writers.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am on several Facebook groups such as Historical Romance Addicts, Books Go Social Readers Group. I have a website and an Amazon author’s page. I’m not sure there is a “best method” as each attracts a certain demographic and since I write in several genre, I try to promote accordingly.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Ignore advice. For every time you hear “don’t do this”, you’ll read a book (or two) where the author did exactly that. I’m not talking about basic good grammar. It’s more things like “head hopping” (POV switches) or writing a story whose subject is considered passe.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write from your heart and/or write what you know.

What are you reading now?
Wallace J. Nichols’ “Blue Mind”, a book about the science behind being near or on water for a happier, healthier lifestyle. I also periodically write in “642 Things to Write About” which is a creativity journal.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope to continue writing stories as long as there are readers. I have no plans for a national best seller (though that would be nice). I simply enjoy telling stories.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
At least one would be “How to Survive on a desert island”! Another would be a blank journal so I could write my experiences. Third might be a very large book with the insides cut out so I could pack it full of snacks or a flask.

Awesome Author - Jason Kilgore

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve just published one book so far, on Amazon. I’m also querying a fantasy novel with agents at the moment, with another waiting in the wings and two more in-process. Busy times!

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The book I’ve just self-published is a paranormal horror/humor short fiction collection entitled Around the Corner from Sanity. I went through a streak of writing short fiction, and most of it was that genre. Having grown up in an honest-to-god haunted house and experiencing ghosts first-hand, I naturally grew fascinated with the genre. I’ve got lots of real stories to tell, too!

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I keep a very nice pewter dragon on my desk next to where I write. I think of it as my “muse.” And I have this habit of associating a song with each book, and you’d be surprised, I think, that it would seem to have little association at first. For instance, for my epic fantasy that I’m querying, White Lands Dragon, I’m inspired by R.E.M.’s “Texarkana.” It evokes a sense of epochs of time, for me.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Tolkien, of course, for my fantasy, but also Weiss and Hickman with their Dragonlance series, as well as Stephen R. Donaldson with his Thomas Covenant Series. For horror, of course it’s Stephen King. And for science fiction, I’d have to say Frank Herbert with his Dune series, as well as Isaac Asimov with his Foundation series.

What are you working on now?
I’m working on two book projects. One is an epic fantasy, which is a sequel to my last one. It has four POV characters, including a demon-dragon, a human female mage, the ancient Gold Dragon, and a cruel human general. Wouldn’t you want to read a story from those points of view? I would! My other project is a space opera scifi with some erotic bits in it. It’s a fun romp through space with lots of quick action and a protagonist who is a rogue with impulse problems and a desire for alien lovers.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I promote from my blog, with tabs for my published works, works in progress, and what I’m currently querying. Of course, there are my blog entries, too, and a great list of other blogs that I follow. Check it out: https://jasonkilgore.blogspot.com.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Join a writer’s group. If there aren’t any around you willing to take you on at your level, then start a group. My writing simply wouldn’t be the level it is if it weren’t for honest feedback from fellow writers in my group, the Village Peeps of Corvallis, Oregon. My blog has a post on what to look for in a group and the rules we follow, in case you want to start your own.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I had a great writing instructor named Anne Warren Smith, who was also a children’s book author. She gave a lot of great advice, but one that stands out for me is “Write dialogue that’s worth eavesdropping on.” I’ll also share with you an equally good bit of advice I picked up somewhere not so long ago: “If your protagonist can walk away from a problem, so will your reader.”

What are you reading now?
I like to have multiple books going at a time. I’m reading “Dr. Sleep” by Stephen King (the sequel to The Shining), “Fledgling” by Octavia Butler (a curious vampire book), and an interesting werewolf story, “After Dark Vapours” by Brad Dunne. He’s a recent, self-published author. I think it’s important to support indie and self-published authors and not just stick with the famous writers.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Changes in my life have given me more time, and I’m capitalizing on it. As a result, my writing has taken off like a rocket. I’m looking to publish three books in the next year, hopefully via a traditional publisher, and get a literary agent.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
How about a survival guide? LOL. But for the sake of entertainment, I think it would have to be a mix of funny, scary, and thoughtful — because that pretty much defines my life. I’m not the sort who re-reads books, in part because once I read a book it is etched in my memory forever, so they would have to be ones I haven’t gotten round to reading yet. So for those three areas, I’ll go with: “Last Words” by George Carlin, “The Haunting of Hill House” by Shirley Jackson, and “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance” by Robert Pirsig.

Awesome Author - R.S. Nicole

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Rhashaada Stern, but I go by R.S. Nicole. I was born and raised in Harrisburg, PA and I currently reside in Tampa, FL. I have always loved to read and write. I also have a love for Urban Fiction books and I have always wanted to write my own. The passion I have for writing has driven me to pursue being an author and I currently have one book published, and it goes by the name of: Love Me Long Time and another short story on the way.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Love Me Long Time and I was actually inspired by this current generation. Lately, both men and women are intrigued by how much money someone has and their social status. My book has two couples, which both of their significant others are only with them for what they have and what they can provide. There is real love there, but they are in love with what their partner can do for them.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I freestyle a lot and I do not outline.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Ashley Antoinette is one of my favorite authors and she has actually inspired me to keep going. I actually started writing in third person from reading her books. She is great at what she does!

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on a two or three-part series if I can stretch it out that far. The title is: I’d Rather Be With a Bad Boy Like You.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My best method is to share links and small excerpts of my books so that people can get intrigued by what little they have read, and they will want to read more.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep pushing! Writing is not easy and it definitely takes time. Do not get discouraged by the feedback you receive. You’re only going to get better as time goes on.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Write until it becomes as natural as breathing and write until not writing, makes you anxious.”

What are you reading now?
I am browsing through kindle unlimited, picking my next book. Currently, I have been reading books by Chenell Parker.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Putting out more of my work and becoming a best-selling author one day. I have the faith that I will get there and I won’t stop until I do. Even when I am there, I will keep writing. I love what I do and I wouldn’t change it.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Definitely a series by Ashley Antoinette. I would probably bring her most recent series, ‘Ethic’. I haven’t gotten a chance to read it yet and judging by the reviews, I’m missing out big time!

Awesome Author - JD Osterman

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m an Atlanta-based writer and author. “Sour Milk for the Soul” is my third book. The other two are “I Was Just Sayin'” and “Excellence in Brand Advertising.” The former is a collection of essays from my column on ajc.com. The second was a business text.

In addition to a variety of freelance assignments through the years, I wrote a weekly column for “The Atlanta Journal-Constitution” for five years. My work has also appeared in “AUTOpilot”, “Atlanta”, “Creative Loafing”, “OZ” and a variety of newspapers and magazines. I’ve spoken across the country and performed stand-up comedy.

I have two dogs and two cats; all rescues.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“Sour Milk for the Soul” was something that started rolling around in my head four years ago. As time went on the stories stayed in my head and started adding up. a college friend, Greg Marshall, suggested I commit them to paper, collect same and see if enough were generated to rate a book. Good advice.

The essays are mean to be a satiric take on the feel-good series. It’s all in good fun.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
More often than not the stories are written beginning with the end. I think of something that makes me laugh, write it down and start working backwards.

The other thing is, when I’m spending a lot of time at the keyboard, if my cat Rosie crawls into my lap I take it as a cosmic sign to stop for a few minutes and recharge. And Rosie get a lot of attention.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Frank Deford, Tony Kornheiser, Rick Reilly

What are you working on now?
Sour Milk, vol. 2

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Social media. It’s free, reaches a lot of people BUT YOU HAVE TO PUT IN THE WORK!

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Read. Read, Read.

Then write. No stopping. No self-editing. Get it out of your head and on the screen or on paper. After you unload your words, THEN start editing. The more you consistently write the larger the flow of ideas will come.

And what you write in 60 days will be better than today’s work — respect both.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up.

What are you reading now?
“Dope Sick” by Beth Macy

What’s next for you as a writer?
A boatload more words.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Daring Greatly by Brene Brown
The Last Lion, all three books, by William Manchester

Awesome Author - John Parrino

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am John J. Parrino, a Goodreads indie author and Psychologist. Much of my writing in the past has been in self help and advice, particularly in the area of stress management. My first book, From Panic to Power: The Positive Use of Stress, was published by a major publishing house, received national exposure and led to a two year stint as the Stress Doc for a local TV station. After many years of working with literary agents and submitting to publishers with less than stellar results, I decided to go the indie route.
My writing has evolved from advice to humorous advice and now to a coming of age, comic novel – with an inspirational message – that’s loosely based on my early experiences in a Sicilian family (not the mob version, though there was a significant amount of that activity in the neighborhood as well). The book is Carnal Envy at Valencia High (currently in the Goodreads Giveaway). It features Joey Tormente. His name says it all: This tender-hearted hero is tormented by many issues in his adolescent life, but especially an unfulfilled desire to be a babe magnet.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Carnal Envy at Valencia High, a comic, coming of age novel – with an inspirational message – based on true events in my adolescence. I grew up in a neighborhood of immigrants from Sicily, Cuba and Spain whose message – get your education so you can take advantage of what America has to off – was ignored by my peers and me until a mysterious series of events took place that awakened us.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have read just about every book written by Lawrence Sanders and feel certain that his writing has influenced me, perhaps at an unconscious level as I write. Certainly, Ed McClanahan, the humor writer/professor from Kentucky. I have read his hilarious book, The Natural Man, twenty times or so.

What are you working on now?
I don’t have any new projects going on. Primarily, I’m trying to get my past books published and marketed.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’ve recently become involved in Goodreads as an author and reader, and for the first time, I have joined a group (Roundtable) to connect with readers and other authors. The Giveaway and advertising programs at Goodreads sound promising.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write because you must. The process of writing is the reward. Wealth and fame may never come, so creativity has to be first.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Go get your head shrunk. Over the years, therapy has opened me up to the creative side of my brain, and certainly has helped with my life in general.

What are you reading now?
You may have guessed: Four or the remaining Sander’s books that got left behind. My current one is Stolen Blessings. Not his greatest, but a fun and engaging read nevertheless. But I always fit in another read of The Natural Man, for a persistent belly laugh.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I like to write children’s books, so I may embark on another in the near future.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Anything by Sanders (I don’t mind reading his books over and over again, particularly the Deadly Sin series, and Timothy Cone series). Of course, The Natural Man, to get me through the grief of being without my wife, family and friends.

Awesome Author - Leanna Englert

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Compromise With Sin, to date my only published novel, started out as non-fiction, but my imagination kept getting ahead of the facts.
As I was writing it, I thought I was a one-trick pony. But that changed.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Compromise With Sin.

By law, almost anyone alive in America today received eyedrops to prevent possible infection at birth. Discovering that courageous people like Helen Keller dared to violate societal taboos in order to warn women of the risks of gonorrhea infections to themselves and newborn babies grabbed me. Their efforts brought about one of the greatest unknown public health triumphs of the 20th century.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Some of my best ideas come to me when I’m flossing my teeth, loading the dishwasher, or doing something else away from my computer. I have several rolls of Post-it correction and cover-up tape the house. I just tear off a piece of tape and scribble my thoughts, which would evaporate if I didn’t record them.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Ragtime, by E. L. Doctorow
Ordinary Grace, by William Kent Krueger
White Oleander, by Janet Fitch

What are you working on now?
A spin-off of Compromise. It’s called Candlelight Confessions. I’ve taken a minor character from Compromise, Irina Taylor, and built a story around why she had to leave Riverbend.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
LOL. I’m pathetic when it comes to promotion.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
The romantic notion of great books coming from the solitary soul toiling in a garret or Starbucks is part of the mystique around writing. Drafts are written in solitude. But polished work comes after scrutiny from friends, other writers, and editors. My first novel is 100,000 words, and I know I threw away another 100,000. So join or create a writing critique group. Or at least have one writing buddy you share work with.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
You can’t edit a blank page.

What are you reading now?
This Tender Land, by William Kent Krueger

What’s next for you as a writer?
Putting one word after another.

Awesome Author - Andy Jay

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
After telling myself I wanted to write a book for far too long, I finally took the plunge last year. I finished 2018 with 2 published books and am currently sitting on 13 books total, under 2 pen names.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is the 3rd installment of the Millicent Series, called Full Circle. The first in the series was one I wrote for my wife, a lot of the details being things she loves in life such as Christmas and baby goats.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
My friends find it strange that I’m able to write 3 or 4 books at once, able to transit from one to the other with little downtime or rereading.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Stephen King has always been at my forefront for reading.

What are you working on now?
Full Circle as we all as a couple of books under my other pen name.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
This one, of course 🙂

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Do it. Don’t talk about it sit around waiting for something to happen. You’ll be waiting a long time. Just do it already.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Never give up” is irrelevant if you never begin.

What are you reading now?
11/22/63 again.

What’s next for you as a writer?
After finishing my first series, I’m beginning a new one that involves something that touches a lot of people: breast cancer. My new series is about a young mum that is diagnosed and given months to live. She finds an old diary back from her school days, and after reading through it, finds that none of her friends achieved the goals they’d had back in school. So she sets about to change that. The first in the series is called “How to Say Goodbye” and I can already feel my emotions bettering me as I think about writing it. It will definitely be a tear-jerker.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
11/22/63
The Stand
Ready Player One
and because I’ve heard everyone should read it- Lord of the Rings.

Awesome Author - Grandma Krazy

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Kathy Barnett Blomquist, I was given the name Grandma Krazy by my 14 grandchildren. I use that name as my author name. I was born in Salt Lake City Utah, but have lived in several states across the Country. I am currently living in Southern California. For many years I have worked with children in many different capacities. Foster parent, Teacher and Cub Scout Leader to name a few. I have nine children. Two of whom were adopted from Foster care. My philosophy is to teach children in ways where they are having so much fun they don’t realize they are actually learning something. My hobbies are leatherworking and making family videos for their special occasions.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
BIG BEAR FAIR is my current book title. I was inspired by my grandkids and the other children around me to write this book. It is adorable to hear big words coming out of their little mouths. Since I am retiring from Fostering and from cubbing I wanted to find a way to continue to bring smiles and learning to children. With my grandkids in mind, I decided to write a book that would have fun with words using rhyme and homophones. Then throw in a few new bigger words to increase their vocabulary which in turn increases reading comprehension. I then added a small message to adults in the story as well. We hear a lot about kids and too much screen time. But not so much about parents’ screen time when the kids are at home. I included that message as a reminder to myself and others of how precious our time is with our children. They grow up and are off on their own so fast we need to value the time we have with them while they are still at home.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Being as I am new to this, I am yet to know what is unusual and what is usual. With a name like Grandma Krazy, the unusual is most likely my usual.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Storytime has always been a favorite time for me. Some of my favorite are;
Brown Bear, Brown Bear by Bill Martin Jr. / Eric Carle
Quick as a Cricket by Don Wood
Joseph Had a Little Overcoat by Simms Taback
And of course, who has not been influenced by Doctor Suess?

What are you working on now?
I am now working on a book to encourage children to use their own imaginations. The book is titled If I Could…. It is an interactive story for growing and sharing a child’s own imagination of what the world would be like if they created it. Would cereal grow on trees? Would they still take showers? Would they have superpowers?

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Still learning about this.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
I made the mistake of letting someone tell me what I should do instead of learning for myself what my options were. What works and what does not work, what differences exist between marketing a children’s book or a novel is also something I should have learned more about first. So do your homework first to discover what you really want to do and what really works best before you publish or market.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Just Do It!

What are you reading now?
I

What’s next for you as a writer?
Only time will tell. If these first two books work then I have other ideas.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Scriptures, A book on how to survive on a desert island, Mary Higgins Clark and Dr. Suess.

Awesome Author - Jan Turk Petrie

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am based in the Cotswolds area of the UK. I’m the author of four published books and I am currently working on a fifth.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called ‘Too Many Heroes’. Unlike my previous books – which are Nordic thrillers set in the near future – this book is set in London in 1952. The inspiration for the story came from my reading about the lesser known crime culture which thrived in the UK during the second world war and continued afterwards. My ‘hero’ and ‘heroine’ are flawed but essentially moral characters facing an impossible situation.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I try to write every day when I’m in the middle of a book so that I can stay in that world. If I have too much time off from writing I might not be able to get back to where I was.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m an avid reader so I would have to say there are so many writers who have influenced me in some way – even the bad ones. That said I’m a big fan or Margaret Atwood and Kate Atkinson.

What are you working on now?
My current work in progress is a psychological thriller. The action takes place between 1938 – 1958 which is quite a challenge. It’s essentially the story of two close friends – two women – who become estranged when one becomes involved with a man the other becomes increasingly suspicious of.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have used a number of websites to promote my work with varying degrees of success. I think it’s a question of trial and error.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Before you put your work out there you need to learn your craft and make sure your book is as good as it can be.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Once you’ve written the first draft put your book away for a while. When you come back to edit it you are more likely to be able to judge it with fresh eyes.

What are you reading now?
I am currently reading ‘Even the Dogs’ by Jon McGregor and ‘In the Blink of an Eye’ by Ali Bacon.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Once I have finished this manuscript in progress, I plan to take a short break before working on a contemporary story I put aside a while back.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would go for fictional compendiums” the complete works of Margaret Atwood, Kate Atkinson, Kurt Vonnegut and Raymond Chandler.

Awesome Author - Jackie Bluu

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Jackie Bluu is a poet and writer living in New York. She received a BA in Anthropology at SUNY Purchase and a Masters in Publishing at Pace University. During the week, she works full-time as a book publicist at Columbia University Press, and on weekends as the editor of FishFood, a literary and arts zine.

Jackie has published a personal essay titled “Beastman” in Emotional Alchemy Magazine, Jawbreaker Zine, Awakenings and Laurels&Bells Literary Journal.

You can find more of her work, mostly poetry, on her Instagram page, @jackie_bluu. Her chapbook ‘Facing the Beast’ was published in January 2019. She is currently working on a full-length poetry book titled ‘Not Another Love Story’ and a micro-chapbook titled ‘Melancholia’.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is “Facing the Beast” – My adolescent trauma worsened over the years and something finally pushed me to release everything years later. So I started writing poems that depicted how I felt, relating to my abuse and grief, and next thing you know, I had an entire collection of poems. “Facing the Beast” was born!

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No unusual writing habits, though I do find that drinking some beer or wine while I work gives me a bit of a mental adrenaline. Sometimes, depending on what I’m writing (most likely emotional or sensual poems), I’ll listen to very deep, soulful music with no lyrics. They put me in a trance and I embody the feeling that I’m writing about.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Roxane Gay is definitely an influence, and pretty much all of the contemporary poets who are thriving today. Also all indie authors inspire me to put my work out there and keep pushing.

What are you working on now?
Right now, I’m finishing up my full poetry book, “(Not) Another Love Story”, and I’m currently searching for a publisher for my micro-chapbook, “My Dear Melancholia”.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I usually post my work on Instagram and Facebook, so people can get a sense of what I work on. I also just created my author website, where I have all my works listed, and try to build email list.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Work hard at building your platform! You can put out the best book ever, but without an audience, no one will know about it. So market yourself everyday until you get tired, and then keep marketing yourself.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Build an email list! If all social media were to disappear, at least you’ll have a loyal following that you can always email and reach out to about your books. So I’m working hard to do this. Best advice ever!

What are you reading now?
Right now, I’m trying to read The Doll Factory by Elizabeth Macneal. It seems like an excellent read, so once I have more free time, I’ll definitely finish it.

What’s next for you as a writer?
More books! More writing! More marketing! I’m trying to be a full-time author, so that’s my goal.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
My self-help books, Hot and Bothered (I don’t remember the author’s name right now), a coloring book, and a crossword puzzle book.
