Awesome Author - Jocelyn Soriano

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a bookworm and a coffee lover. I enjoy watching sunsets and taking a walk along the beach. I also love music. I have composed some songs, and I can even sing my heart out when inspired!

I have written more than 10 books as per my latest count. Most of them were inspirational and self-help books. I have also written two books on poetry, a novel and a children’s book. Before I became a writer, I was working as a CPA and Internal Auditor.

Here are just some of the books I have at Amazon:
1. The Good For Nothing Boy
2. Beloved
3. The Inspirer
4. Mend My Broken Heart
5. In Your Hour of Grief
6. 366 Days of Compassion
7. To Love An Invisible God
8. Poems of Love and Letting Go
9. Poems For a Faithful Heart

I have also some contribution to my sister’s Book Series: The Elioud Chronicles
1. Flight Of Angels (Elioud Chronicles Book 2)
2. Clash Of Angels (Elioud Chronicles Book 3)

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
THE GOOD FOR NOTHING BOY is my latest book. I was inspired to write it when I was younger and felt unsure of my self-worth and my purpose in life. I was also trying to explore the limits of my imagination. Through books, I wanted people to be able to travel to magical places, even if only for a while. I also wanted to impart certain values through the perspective of an innocent child.

I keep in mind a quote by Madeleine L’Engle: “You have to write the book that wants to be written. And if the book will be too difficult for grown-ups, then you write it for children.”

When I wrote The Good For Nothing Boy, I was not really aware whether I was writing a book for children or a book for grownups. I just wanted to write a book that needs to be written, a book that needs to be born from within me.

The Good For Nothing Boy is a story about searching for one’s worth and one’s purpose. I remember the times I felt like the boy in the story, not knowing what I’m really good at and not knowing my mission in life. Even though I have certain skills and talents, I often felt as though I’m not good enough. In today’s world where competition is commended and where we need to stand out from the rest every day, how do we prove our worth?

My sister told me that THE GOOD FOR NOTHING BOY bears some resemblance to the following books: The Little Prince, The Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland. When I heard her say that, I was thrilled and scared at the same time. Who wouldn’t be honored with such a comparison? On the other hand, who wouldn’t be afraid?

Deep within me however, I could agree that “The Good For Nothing Boy” bears some resemblance to “The Little Prince”. And if I could say more, I’d like to say that it also bears some similarity with “The Alchemist” or even “The Chronicles of Narnia”. Despite all that, I’d like to say that my book can still stand on its own and has never lost its uniqueness.

It is much like a person who may look like someone you knew, but who will never really be exactly alike anyhow. Books, like people are influenced by many things. I guess that’s why we can say that a particular book is somewhat similar to this and that book we’ve read before. In the end, however, a book grows a character that is all its own. There is that secret ingredient that makes it different from all the mixture of influences it has ever had. A book grows its own soul, and then it is no longer afraid to be compared with any other.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’d like to write more when it rains. I also tend to drink a lot of coffee! When that is not available, I’ve got to have some chocolate bars. Music also helps me set the proper mood.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Books can influence us in many ways. They can change us as a person, they can give us ideas about writing, or they can open certain doors for us to follow. Authors, on the other hand, can influence us by the way they live or by the way that they write.

Based on the above, I can say that some of the authors that have influenced me were J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S.Lewis, J.K.Rowling, P.L.Travers, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Paulo Coelho, Kahlil Gibran, Og Mandino, Mitch Albom, L.B.Cowman, Mother Angelica, Mother Teresa, Fr. Robert Barron and Pope Benedict XVI. If I include the saints among those who have written their own books, I could include St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Teresa of Avila, St. Augustine and St. Faustina Kowalska. Last but not the least, my sister Dulce Amor Soriano who is also my beta reader, editor, and consultant for design.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently busy with my latest book THE GOOD FOR NOTHING BOY. Even though it’s already scheduled for release this July, I’d like to read it over and over again. I’d like to see if I can make some last minute revisions that could still improve it. I’m also busy thinking about marketing strategies to promote it to as many people as possible.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
In addition to my website www.itakeoffthemask.com, I’m still trying a variety of ways to promote my book. I’ve tried Amazon and Facebook ads. I also use social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. I’m also exploring the possibility of connecting to more people through the Medium platform.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t be afraid to write the book that wants to be born from your heart.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Do not be disheartened. It applies to life as well as to writing books. If we lose hope, we’d never be able to accomplish anything. Even if we feel like failures many times, we need to remember our God-given dignity and value as a person.

What are you reading now?
Right now, I’m re-reading THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE by C.S.Lewis, and also my sister’s Young Adult Fantasy, BLOOD OF ANGELS (Elioud Chronicles Book 1)

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m currently already exploring a possible sequel to THE GOOD FOR NOTHING BOY. I think I’d also be writing some short reads related to it, some HIDDEN CHAPTERS that can reveal more about the story.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I think I’d copy my sister’s list for this:
1. The Holy Bible
2. Survive!: Essential Skills and Tactics to Get You Out of Anywhere – Alive!
3. Bushcraft First Aid: A Field Guide to Wilderness Emergency Care
4. Boatbuilding: A Complete Handbook of Wooden Boat Construction

Awesome Author - Michelle Zellner

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have had my wellness business, Better Beings, for over 22 years. I started out as a personal trainer but in the past 10 years have primarily been facilitating wellness workshops and trainings. My mission is to inform, influence and inspire people to take control of their health to become better beings. This is my first book.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
the YOU Revolution; the Journey of a Better Being is based on the content of a 10-week lifestyle enhancement class I created in 2014. It is also the story of my own wellness journey. At the end of the 2017 session of the 10-week class, one of the participants said…”you really need to write this in a book”. So I decided to do that!

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to write best sitting on my couch with mindless tv in the background or sitting by the pool at my condo.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I read The Culprit and the Cure about 10 years ago and I felt like I was reading my own words

What are you working on now?
No more books…my focus is to use my book to expand my reach via public speaking–keynote, conference workshops and breakout sessions, etc

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have been writing articles for various publications and am working to brand myself as the “go to” wellness expert for local media

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Getting noticed is a grind. You know your book is fabulous, all the people around you tell you it’s fabulous, but others have to know you wrote a book before they can tell you it’s fabulous. Unless you are a “name” it’s tough to get exposure. Personally, I think writing the book was easy—getting it out there is way more difficult!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t waste time on things you know you aren’t good at—hire someone or let it go!

What are you reading now?
Kings of Cool by Don Winslow

What’s next for you as a writer?
There may be another book in me someday, but for now I am going to relish in the fact that I wrote this one!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Grit by Angela Duckworth to remind me I can survive this desert island, Savages by Don Winslow because I now have read his prequel, and some other entertaining book that is really long to distract me from the fact that I am stranded on a desert island

Awesome Author - Sherri Hollister

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written three books and I have had several short stories included in anthologies. I am presently working on a couple of Christmas stories, one for an anthology and the other as the transition book to end one series and start the next.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Titanium Blue is the third book in the Leeward Files series. It is a second chance love story within a suspense thriller. Tobias Anthony Roberts aka Tar lost his leg in Afghanistan. After leaving the Marines and the drugs behind he seeks to reclaim his relationship with his wife and son. As Tar and Jenna’s relationship heats up so does the danger to their son. When Toby goes missing they have to face the possibility of a life without him. Can their love survive a parent’s worst nightmare?

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write in the store room at work when business is slow and during lunch. It’s great, no internet, few distractions.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Kat Martin, Jayne Ann Krentz, Reese Ryan, M K Graff, James Rollins, Virginia Kantra, Dean Koontz, Clive Cussler, Stephen King, Sabrina Jeffries, Nora Roberts, Heather Graham, Will Thomas, etc. I like faster paced books with action. I love romance but I want more than just boy meets girl, etc.

What are you working on now?
I’m working on a World War 2 short story for a winter anthology, a holiday 2 weddings and a murder story for my series switch and the first book in the new series, which is a spin-off of the first series. I’m also planning the next series which will merge with these as well.
My published series, the Leeward Files is about three girlfriends and their overcoming the bad things that have happened in their lives to become strong independent women.
The Heroes of Leeward are two of the girls’ brothers a fireman, a policeman and the third will be a former police officer accused of murder who is exonerated by the courts but not the small town he comes from. He begins working as a Private Investigator and his book will lead into the Harrell Family Chronicles.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still searching for it. I love Instagram. I tolerate Facebook and Twitter. I barely do anything on Linked In but my blog posts go automatically to my page. I have recently joined two Facebook groups that have increased my Instagram, Bookbub and Goodreads followers. I believe it has also resulted in more pages read on Kindle Unlimited.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing, keep learning, believe in yourself and find your tribe. Find a writers group, online if not in person. Create your own writers group if you have to. Find people who share your passion and help each other achieve.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Just write the damn story! Don’t try to edit while you are creating. Get the story down. You can fix it later but you cannot edit a blank page.
Believe in yourself. Take your writing seriously, if you don’t no one else will.

What are you reading now?
Willie Nelson’s It’s a Long Story
Tammera Cooper Sleeping Mallows
Love and Lace Online Magazine
Hot Summer Nights Anthology
The Last Fifty Pages by James Scott Bell

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’d like a movie deal and be able to quit my day job but barring that, just more of the same. I have so many stories in my head. I still want to write a historical series, “The American’s are Coming,” about an estranged son returning home to find he is next in line to be duke. The woman he loved who was forced to marry his brother is now a widow and her son, is actually his son. He has made his way back to England via a Wild West Show with his stepdaughter and son.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Anything by Amanda Quick aka Jayne Ann Krentz or Sabrina Jeffries.

Awesome Author - Erna Mueller

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I emigrated from Austria and became a U.S. citizen, I love living here. I just retired and have all this time to continue writing and reading. K-9 Cop is my first book and I have written a couple of feature screenplays. My book has won 1st place in the Good Read Competition from awomenswrite.com and my screenplays have won various awards.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Book is titled “K-9 Cop Case#1 – The Dreck Report.” I thought a Young Adult book would be a great idea to write for a first-time novelist. I always loved family orientated books and movies and was searching for a story that depicts the human condition with all its splendor and frailties. What better way than through a surly cop who has to go back to earth in the body of his K-9 partner? The cop needs to help a troubled teenager and his dysfunctional family in order to be redeemed.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I just have to push myself. Getting started is the most difficult part. Once I start there’s no stopping me.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love John Steinbeck, Ernest Hemingway and the Israeli author Ephraim Kishon.

What are you working on now?
I’m working on series two of K-9 Cop.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’ve found that KDP on Amazon is very helpful. The Goodreads giveaway is also a great way to get reviews.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Do a lot of marketing. What’s the use if you have a great book and no one knows about it? Marketing is key. The internet is full of services and marketing tips. Beware of high-priced marketing services that bring you nothing. Check out the Writer Beware blog: https://accrispin.blogspot.com/

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Just keep writing and more writing.

What are you reading now?
All About My Life by Gerda Weissmann Klein. I love bios, especially concerning WW II and the Holocaust.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m still marketing which takes a lot of time so I hope to devote more time to my K-9 Cop series two book.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, War And Peace (I’d finally get to read it all, what else is there to do on an island?) East of Eden, Gone With the Wind

Awesome Author - Amy Ginsburg

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
As a writer, I love to explore dystopian events through the perspective of ordinary people. I’m dedicated to giving my readers terrifyingly real, astonishingly tender, gripping stories that combine book club and dystopian fiction.

I’ve written one published book, The After Days, and have another book called the Karma of the Tattoo sitting in a hard drive that I wrote ten years ago waiting for me to get it ready for publication.

After graduating from Syracuse University with a B.A. in Public Relations and Psychology and backpacking around the globe, I earned a master’s degree from the University of Maryland while working and raising two amazing kids. Recently, I participated in the Algonkian Writer Retreat and Novel Workshop.

In my day job, I help nonprofits and businesses use communication and marketing to showcase what makes them extraordinary. I have more than three decades of experience leading, marketing, and raising funds for nonprofit organizations. I also serve as the executive director of Friends of White Flint, a nonprofit organization working to transform the White Flint/Pike District area into a walkable, transit-oriented, vibrant community.

When I’m not obsessing over The After Days, I golf, bake, swing dance, spoil my granddaughter, think about working out, and read. Splitting my time between North Bethesda, MD and Bethany Beach, DE, I love laughing with my friends and family, all of whom have been incredibly supportive of my writing.

By the way, those aforementioned friends will tell you The After Days, is a great read. (Of course, they have to say that if they want invitations to the beach house, but that doesn’t mean they’re wrong.)

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The After Days

I wrote The After Days because I was tired (oh so tired) of reading dystopian tales where the protagonist was a teenager or a male with superhuman powers. Where were all the ordinary suburbanites, doing their best in impossible situations? I wanted more books like The Handmaids Tale, Red Clocks, Vox, and Station 11.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m a pantser, so I have no idea what’s going to happen until it happens. At times, it feels like these characters are actually living a life that I’m simply recording, and when I need to make edits, I feel a bit like I’m changing a reality that truly exists. When a character had to die, I felt god-like, as if I had omnipotent power to alter the course of real lives, declaring who lives and who dies.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love well-written, unusual dystopian fiction and innovative but believable science fiction. I adore genre-splitting books like Station 11 and Life After Life. Margaret Atwood is one of my favorite authors, and the best how-to-write book is by Stephen King.

What are you working on now?
Promoting my book (of course) and thinking through some ideas for my next novel.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I don’t know — I’m just starting to utilize different ones to promote my novel.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Stick with it, and remember that while writing is an individual endeavor, editing and publishing is a group project — good beta readers and paid editors are absolutely essential.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Delete all your adverbs.

What are you reading now?
Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward
Children of the New World by Alexander Weinstein
A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles
Chemistry by Weike Wang

What’s next for you as a writer?
Definitely another book — perhaps a sequel to The After Days. Plus I get to write everyday in my day job as a nonprofit consultant — blogs, newsletters, social media posts, and other collateral material.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Margaret Atwood Oryx and Crake
The entire collection of Harry Potter
A very thick blank journal so I could write

Awesome Author - Linda Griffin

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born and raised in San Diego, California and earned a BA in English from San Diego State University and an MLS from UCLA. I began my career as a reference and collection development librarian in the Art and Music Section of the San Diego Public Library and then transferred to the Literature and Languages Section, where I had the pleasure of managing the Central Library’s Fiction collection and initiating fiction order lists for the entire library system. Although I also enjoy reading biography, memoir, and history, fiction remains my first love. In addition to the three R’s—reading, writing, and research—I enjoy Scrabble, movies, and travel.

My earliest ambition was to be a “book maker” and I wrote my first story, “Judy and the Fairies,” with a plot stolen from a comic book, at the age of six. I broke into print in college with a story in the San Diego State University literary journal, The Phoenix, but most of my magazine publications came after I left the library to spend more time on my writing

My stories have been published in Eclectica, The Binnacle, The Nassau Review, Orbis, Thema Literary Journal, Verandah Literary & Art Journal, Short Story America, San Diego Writers’ Monthly, The Storyteller Anthology, I-70 Review, 34th Parallel, and the anthologies Short Story America, Vol. 2 and The Captive and the Dead. Four stories, including three as yet unpublished, received honorable mention in the Short Story America Prize for Short Fiction contests. The Wild Rose Press published Seventeen Days in 2018.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Rebound Effect. The initial trigger came when a response wasn’t made to an apology after a breakup. Teresa responded instead, and that became the first line I wrote. Add in a longtime fascination with sign language, a remark about bondage in an interview with E.L. James, and a dark and stormy night, and the characters, relationships, and plot developed from there.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know if it’s unusual, but I cross out what I’ve scribbled down in my notebook when I’ve used it in the story. It helps make it clear what I haven’t used yet. I consider a lizard my muse and Huxley, a writer mouse from Starbucks, my sometime collaborator.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
A major influence early on was the Williamsburg series by Elswyth Thane. It’s now very dated and politically incorrect, but I still see echoes of it in my writing. My older sister’s stories had a strong influence on me in my teens, when I had been writing mostly Westerns. I’ve also written several captivity stories, including “Rumpelstiltskin,” (published in Eclectica, April/May 2018), undoubtedly influenced by memoirists Jaycee Dugard, Elizabeth Smart, Katie Beers, Amanda Berry, et al.

What are you working on now?
Promoting The Rebound Effect and writing “Moon Shadows,” a story of uncertain length and direction.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I think it’s too soon to tell. I’m still learning where to send review requests and what effect other kinds of promotion have.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Read! Read anything and everything. The more different styles you read, the more easily you will develop your own. Read good writing, but even bad writing can teach you something. Write what you want to write. Don’t worry about writing in chronological or logical order; it can all be sorted out later. Write for yourself and polish for editors. Don’t give up. Sometimes a story will find a home when you least expect it. Learn from criticism, but don’t take it personally.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Richard P. Brickner, in his memoir My Second Twenty Years, said that a novel is an ocean to its author, but a mere drink of water to a reader. It reminds me not to take it personally if a reader doesn’t value my drink of water–he or she may not even be thirsty.

What are you reading now?
Becoming by Michelle Obama

What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope my next Wild Rose Press book will be Guilty Knowledge, a police procedural/interracial romance.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Found and Still Waters by Jennifer Lauck, Against Wind and Tide by Anne Lindbergh, and Ten Years of Freedom by Natascha Kampusch

Awesome Author - Cecilia Peartree

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have been writing since I was six years old, and publishing more or less ever since ebooks became a reality. I’ve also had a long career in computing, first as a programmer and more recently as a database manager in an art gallery. I live in the city of Edinburgh, in Scotland and I have a cat who likes to distract me from writing in numerous ways.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
I published a book right at the end of May 2019 and another one in mid-June so I am going to be greedy and mention both of them here. The first was ‘Unrelated Incidents’, which is the 18th in a series of quirky mysteries. I suppose the plot was inspired by an item in the local news here about a farmer who fought and won a battle to stop a movie studio being built on land he had been farming for decades. The second was ‘The French Heir’, the second in a series of historical romances about heirs who have been lost or otherwise prevented from claiming their inheritance in Regency England.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I mostly write first drafts during the various NaNoWriMo events through the year. I seem to need the self-imposed goals to keep me going! Perhaps that isn’t so unusual. I can write almost anywhere and I’ve recently taken to writing a few hundred words on my Kindle Fire at odd moments.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I suppose Agatha Christie is a major influence on my mystery writing, but my books seem to make people laugh a lot too, so I think my reading and re-reading of Douglas Addams and Terry Pratchett must have had some effect too.
I would love to be able to write Regency romance like Georgette Heyer but I’m afraid that’s an impossible dream.

What are you working on now?
I’ve started on the 19th in my mystery series (working title ‘As Yet Untitled’) for Camp NaNoWriMo in July 2019.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have a small but very engaged following on my Facebook page, and I am sure they have been spreading the word around on their own.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Make sure you write as often and as much as you can before publishing. Sometimes it’s worth starting with short stories and maybe entering them for writing competitions or submitting them to magazines just for the feedback.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I don’t really listen to advice – I prefer to make it up myself. Though I often think of my late father’s advice ‘Never apologise’. I think he borrowed that from someone famous.

What are you reading now?
A print book called ‘Around the World in 80 Trains’. (I love train travel)

What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope to complete ‘As Yet Untitled’ and have a title for it by the end of August 2019. After that I will have to decide which of two options is preferable to write during NaNoWriMo in November.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
This is a very difficult one. One of the books might have to be ‘War and Peace’ to make myself read it at last. It would be useful to take some sort of survival handbook too. Then I think I would take a long an empty notebook so that I could write something of my own. And a pencil or pen!

Awesome Author - Tammy Ruggles

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve been a professional writer since 2002. My newest is a collection of short horror stories called “The Midnight Train”.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“The Midnight Train” is a collection of 10 of my short horror stories. I’ve been writing horror off and on for many years. It’s my favorite genre, and one I started writing in as a young writer, at about age 12 or 13.

What inspired it is the exploration of fear, death, and the unknown. We all deal with fear and death in different ways, and I think horror helps us get a handle on those feelings.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
None really, except that I like to write in long stretches.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
As far as horror goes, I’d have to say Edgar Allan Poe, Rod Serling, Alfred Hitchcock, Stephen King, William Peter Blatty, Mary Shelley, and a few others.

What are you working on now?
Nothing at this time.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I like to promote from my Amazon author page. At times I’ll give away free downloads.

Write the subjects you’re passionate about. Try different styles. Learn from your mistakes.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t give up.

Awesome Author - Yamisha Williams

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Misha and I am an urban fiction author. I have penned over 20 books in the last 3 years that I have been writing. Even at a young age, I’ve always wanted to write.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Lil Baby Addicted to a Thug and it releases on Amazon on July 10th. I started to think of and outline this book while I was writing my last. It was just a story that I couldn’t get off of my mind. It’s about a woman that goes to jail for her boyfriend, and comes out stronger, wiser and focused. I want readers to see her growth as well as the other characters, but showing that she’s strong and persevering is what inspired me to write this. A strong, black woman that made a mistake and now she’s learning from it.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes. I have my favorite spot on the couch. When it’s time to write, I take a nice hot shower. My ideas stem from those showers a lot and then I put on something loose fitting so I’m really comfortable. Then I need some good music or a show that I’ve already seen so I’m not paying attention to it, but I love background noise while I write. Some of the best books have been written as I sit cross legged on my couch.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
The list is longgg. I’ve been an avid read since about 13 sneaking and reading my mothers books. But, I’ll try anyway.

Nikki Turner-A Hustler’s Wife
Tracy Brown-White Lines
Keisha Ervin-Me and My Boyfriend
Mercy B-Rahmeek and Bella series
Sister Soulja-The Coldest Winter Ever
Vickie Stringer-Dirty Red series
T.N. Baker-Sheisty

This is a small list because believe me there are more. These are books I couldn’t put down and made me realize just how much I loved these stories.

What are you working on now?
I’m working on part 2 to Lil Baby Addicted to a Thug.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Promoting on Facebook, in groups, word of mouth, instagram, twitter and then awesome gang.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes, study the market that you’re writing for. Read the books. See what the audience is going for and what they’re liking right now. You can still write what you want, but you also have to give your audience what they want.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never stop learning. I’m literally on Amazon all the time looking for resources to help my writing improve. You can’t write a sex scene? Having trouble with dialogue? There are books that can help you.

What are you reading now?
Held Captive By His Ruthless Love by Charmaine Saquea
Also, I downloaded Rahmeek and Bella a couple of days ago lol

What’s next for you as a writer?
Big things, hopefully. I’m going to continue writing and trying to get my work out there. Finding new ways to market and promote.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

Awesome Author - Terry Cooper

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I write under two pseudonyms. Purity Pierce for “adult content” which is published on KDP. I use Lydia Chandler for everything else which is published on Smashwords. I began publishing in 2013 using Smash.

Purity has 40-books on Amazon in five different languages. English versions are posted the first week of each month. As it is now I have enough material to get me up to Feb 2020.

Lydia has

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
CPR of a Marriage. Believe it or not a writing prompt the Pinacolda song!

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Define unusual. I write at home, in the library, the shopping mall, with a laptop and long-hand. Morning, noon or night. Just when I literally have the notion and energy.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I don’t know that any have honestly. I’ve read everything that Nora Roberts has written (so far). I’ve also read all of Philippa Gregory’s historical romances. Mostly because I’m related to all of the people Philippa writes about! Anne Boleyn is my 20something great grandmother just for starters.

What are you working on now?
I’m working on several things at once. It keeps me from getting bored! CPR of a Marriage which will be the latest in flash fiction erotica. A special erotica piece just in time for Valentine’s Day. And last but not least – my memoirs. That one will probably have to wait until everyone is dead before I can publish it!

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Anywhere and everywhere and I do it myself although I’m nearly at the point where I’m ready to hire some people to do some of the admin work for me so I can concentrate on writing fully.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
If you think you can transcribe your diary and become a millionaire, think again. You have to be able to actually write and write well. At least well enough for your copy editor to know what your intention is so they can do their job. Know that it isn’t JUST writing. There’s promotions, sales, creation of book covers, etc. that you will need to be involved in. Not to mention blogging and people interviewing you! And if you can’t afford to hire anyone to do these things you have to be very good at all of it and do it yourself.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t come into this thinking you’re going to be rich and famous.

What are you reading now?
Actually, I just finished reading the Life We Bury. AMAZING. Best book I’ve read in a very long time.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Finish off CPR of a Marriage and then spend some time focused on hiring someone to do my book covers for me as well as some radio interviews.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The largest book of blank bound paper I could get my hands on, a dictionary, and a thesaurus!

Awesome Author - Mary Simmons

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hello, my name is Mary, thanks for the interview)) I was born and have lived all my life in Boston, Massachusetts. I’ve been interested in psychology, relationships between adults and children since high school. I read a lot of works on parenthood, I started learning it when I even wasn’t married and not having children as well. I grew up with two sisters and a brother, maybe this forced me to have a closer look to nature of other people relationships))) I should mention that my parents worked in medicine. And then, after I’d had my own kids, I got to know many pediatricians in Boston and started participating in conferences in other cities. I always wanted to write, but as a student, even having learnt a lot on psychology, I didn’t dare to. Because I didn’t have my own children. Now I have three of them and all different ages and I know a thing or two about it and do want to share my knowledge and experience. “Toddler Discipline” is my first book, but definitely not the last. Wait for new books from me.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The book, I’m working on now, is devoted to the transition to adulthood (potty training). I was inspired by my friends who asked me to make a short check-list of things you need to know. I love my friends so much )) they motivate me.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
It’s funny, but I can only write when I’m in the mood for writing. I worked on my first book just for a couple of months, but I’m still writing the second one. Sometimes I write a chapter or two, but then I get back to it and improve)) I’m a perfectionist and like when everything is done at a higher level.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I read a lot, it’s hard to pick out someone. Each book influences people in its own way, especially, a writer. All the books on psychology, pediatrics, medicine, studies on relationships within the family are very long; life has changed a lot – everyone wants to grab information fast and effective, only important practical things. Maybe that inspired me to write shorter, but more practical guides))

What are you working on now?
I’m working on the third book, which is on baby psychology. In this book I try to combine research and everyday life practices, let’s see what happens. I’ll represent it soon

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m new to this and it’s difficult for me to navigate. You are the first who I’m giving an interview))) it means it’s already begun

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes ! I’d advise not to postpone it if you feel your vocation. Do write – make mistakes, listen to criticism, but do it boldly! If you have something to share – write

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“You can have it all. Just not all at once.” It’s Oprah’s words.

What are you reading now?
you won’t believe it… my daughter wants to become a vegan, so I learn to cook lentils balls, while reading and searching for all the books like “Delicious Vegan Recipes”

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’d like to create an independent association for female writers working on education and psychology in America, but lacking time or money, or both to publish them.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Fahrenheit 451; Dreiser’s American tragedy;
and I think some of Emily Dickinson’s poetry.

Awesome Author - Susan Antony

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Susan Antony and I write young adult fiction. Becoming a writer was a childhood dream I’d buried years ago. One day in the recent past while spring-cleaning, I came across a fifty-page novel I’d written as a ten-year-old and my long forgotten passion awoke again. Since then I’ve written two and a half books, Cherokee Summer being my second book and my first published book.
I currently live in South Carolina with my teenaged son and two naughty but adorable Cairn Terriers.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
While visiting the Cherokee Indian Reservation in Cherokee, North Carolina, I recalled a crush I had on a Native American classmate when I was a tween and pondered how the relationship might have evolved had we been older. Chasing a childhood dream of becoming a writer, I put her imagination to work and my fingers to the keyboard and my novel Cherokee Summer was born.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
There are many but if I have to pick, Jack Kerouac and Stephenie Meyer. How’s that for variety? Jack Kerouac with his unrestrained zest to experience all aspects of life influenced a generation of youth lost in the fifties and continues to be as an inspiration today. Stephenie Meyer was an unknown when she turned a dream in to a phenomenon.

What are you working on now?
I am dismantling a YA Paranormal Romance I wrote prior to Cherokee Summer. I intend to build it up again with a different story line.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am still learning, but right now I seem to get the most attention from FaceBook ads.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Practice, practice, practice and never give up. If you haven’t already, build an online presence today and nurture it. Only a minute amount of authors write a novel and become an overnight success. There are general rules to writing as in everything else. If you study and apply them, you have a better chance of achieving your goal. Take online writing classes. Join critique groups. Listen to your critics and evaluate the information provided. Take what you like and trash the rest. Though, always keep your mind open and learn to take criticism. My harshest critic helped me the most. After I finished crying over my bruised ego, I realized he was one-hundred percent right. Had I not listened, I might not be published today.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Referring to the critic from the prior question, too many of your friends and family are telling you this is good.

What are you reading now?
I just finished BOY ERASED–a dark and sometimes painful, but enlightening story.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I am overhauling on my YA Paranormal Romance, and I have written one chapter of a sequel to Cherokee Summer.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
There are so many books that I love I cannot pick only three or four. I think if I were stranded in solitude, I’d have to find a way to write my on book.

Awesome Author - 1202 Duece Lee

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a 25-year-old writer, songwriter, poet from Newark, Delaware. I have written one children’s book only, but spend a lot of time writing on a developing sci-fi short story series I plan on turning into a novel at the end of the year.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is titled “Can You Find A Four Leaf Clover?” and was inspired by the anniversary of my grandfather’s passing.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I cannot write while full. I usually only drink (we’ll say water for now), and light snackage but I never eat a full meal in the middle of a writing “sesh”.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I was primarily influenced by Jacqueline Woodson, Maya Angelou, and even some William Shakespeare and Edgar Poe. Really, I draw inspiration daily from all forms of the written word, especially things that fall outside of my “typical genre” or my “comfort zone”.

What are you working on now?
I am working on a second children’s book that will follow a dad teaching his daughter to fish and learning he has become a feminist.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I get a lot of my better promotion through twitter and instagram. ‘Tis the age of the social media amirite?

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Read and write. Read as much as you can. Inspiration to get through that deadly writer’s block comes from the most inane places sometimes. And write constantly. There’s no such thing as a bad idea. I’ve recycled things from scrapped poetry into thrilling short stories. Y’ never know.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be yourself… It sounds stupid. But it’s true.

What are you reading now?
A book entitled Compound by S. A. Bodeen

What’s next for you as a writer?
Trying to branch out more as a blogger and gritting my teeth on vlogging. Oh, and of course finally finishing that dreaded novel. I’d like to try my hand at a true romance too. The possibilities are endless.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Hamlet
The Raven
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
and Lord of the Flies (just to freak myself out)

Awesome Author - Kelvin Bueckert

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
What can I say? I’m an actor and an author. I’ve written over ten books…lost track of exactly how many. There are a few books still in the closet, waiting for their day in the sun.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Uncle Kelly’s Second Book of…Wisdom? It was inspired by various episodes of life and things I’ve seen in life. Look at the world, there is a lot of opportunity for satire out there!

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Would writing on a trapeze be considered unusual? Just kidding. No, I’m like a lot of writers where I’ll write something brilliant, then come back two weeks later and throw it all in the trash except for one sentence. Eventually enough sentences survive the massacre, band together and form a book.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Douglas Adams. MAD Magazine. Donald Miller. Andy Stanley.

What are you working on now?
A new historical play.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just keep writing.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The more honest you are the more the audience will connect with you.

Dominion by Randy Alcorn.

Awesome Author - Rick Pipito

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Rick Pipito is the award winning author of over 25 published works. His Eternal Hunger Saga series earned him a place in top 25 and 100 lists. He was awarded the gold medal for 2019 Best Opening Lines of a Novel and the “Most Versatile Local Author” according to Philly Current Magazine’s 2017 #PCPicks.

Born in 1978 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he learned various musical instruments and played, wrote and sang in original bands over a span of fifteen years. While he occasionally still plays a random show, his focus is solely on his book writing career, his two children, and assisting his wife (Roberta of Homemade Delish) in her culinary adventures.

In 2010 Rick teamed up with his brother, artist Dan Pipito, and formed a little company called “sCrypt Comics.” Their efforts working with other artists was a success. When Rick’s novels started becoming noticed they redirected their idea into sCrypt Publishing. While Rick writes, Dan provides most of the cover art for the novels and books. The sCrypt team consists of 6 main people in various positions of editing, critique, and advertising.

As of July 2019, Rick’s published works are the following novels:

FLESH AND LEFTOVERS; BLOOD, THE SECOND HELPING; BONES AT BREAKFAST; SOULS 4 SUPPER; DEVIL’S DESSERT; TECHNO FEAST; GENETIC MORSELS; PLANET ATE; DEVOURED UNIVERSE; A COURSE FOR HUMANITY; THE THIRST OF CAIN; CONSUMED BY WAR

the short story spinoffs:

ZOMBIE INCIDENTS; LEGENDS OF VAMPIRE; IN CASE OF WEREWOLF; GHOSTLY HAUNTINGS; DEMONIC ENTITIES; VIRAL UPGRADES; EVOLVED MUTATIONS; ALIEN ENCOUNTERS; COSMIC ORBITS; THE LOST HOUR; THE LOST DAY

the children’s books:

A LITTLE GIRL IN THE LAND OF THE HICCUPS; A LITTLE BOY IN THE LAND OF THE SLEEPLESS KNIGHTS; (and a short online comic called THE ADVENTURES OF MUNCHIES AND DEEDOOS: TALES OF THE BEASTER BUNNY.

compilations and non-fiction books:

EDEN’S ORDER TRILOGY; PANDORA’S CHAOS TRILOGY; BEYOND HUMAN TRILOGY; NO, IT’S NOT. YES, IT IS: ARGUMENTS; SUMMER RAIN: GENERATIONS OF POEMS

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
CONSUMED BY WAR is my latest release (July 2, 2019). I have always been fascinated with technological advancements over time in history. I thought that a book which would include different eras of war spanning from cave dwelling times to the present would be a lot of fun. Toss in a plot as to why these wars occur with a bit of a supernatural element and it all fell into place.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I talk to myself in the car. When I’m driving, my phone is on record and most of my writing comes in the form of me narrating the dialogue. I later tweak it when typing everything, but I suppose creating different voices and talking to myself does seem a little nutty to other drivers on the road.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I grew up reading Stephen King and Dean Koontz, then graduated to Bob Mayer, Dan Brown, and Brad Thor as I got older. My biggest influence in writing comes from Stan Lee though. His characters are what made me want to get into storytelling in the first place.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on a short story called THE LOST YEAR, as well as a trilogy release called BEYOND TIME.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Social media works wonders. It also helps that my wife is in the public eye, so the word spreads faster through connections.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Get an editor or two. Get beta readers. Be open to criticism and be prepared to evolve. If you think you’re the best or have nothing more to learn about writing then you’re probably the exact opposite. Always learn and adapt.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never give up and keep away from negativity. Surrounding myself with positive people and vibes has caused my career to blossom and for that I’m thankful.

What are you reading now?
I’m currently rereading one of my own books, but Bob Mayer’s New York Minute is occurring in there as well.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’ve got lots planned. I’m always three books ahead from where I am during writing, so keeping that flow of ideas is a priority. I’ve been making connections to have screenplay adaptations of some of my works, as well as a video game adaptation. We will see what happens.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Tough question. I’d say it’d probably be some of my trilogy collections so people can identify me if I don’t make it out alive. I’d probably take a copy of the Bible, The Divine Comedy, the biggest graphic novel compilation I could find, and a survival’s guide that would assist my survival knowledge.

Awesome Author - Christoffer Petersen

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I write Arctic Noir, Scandinavian Crime Mystery and Action Thrillers, predominantly set in Greenland and the Arctic. I lived and worked in Greenland for 7 years, ran my own team of sledge dogs, and my last job was teaching English to police cadets at the Police Academy in the Greenland capital of Nuuk.

I’ve written 30 books (including novellas), most of which are set in Greenland.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My last book is called “Blackout Ingénue”. It is a crime thriller set in Denmark. I was encouraged to write it after being invited to the concert hall in the city close to where I live. The building is very Scandinavian, with very clean lines. Encouraged by the staff at the concert hall, I wrote a murder mystery set in and around the theater.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
When Social Media was biting into my writing time, I switched to an old laptop with a defective fan. With no Internet access it worked fine, but I could only write for 45 minutes at a time before my wrist started to melt as the computer heated up.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love Don Winslow’s books, and the Arkady Renko books by Martin Cruz Smith. I also really enjoy John le Carré’s spy books. But I read a lot of different books, and often relax with a graphic novel or science fiction book. Iain M. Banks and Peter F. Hamilton are among my favorites.

What are you working on now?
“Narkotika” is my latest book. But I am working on lots of different Greenland novels – in series and spin-offs with my main characters of Constable David Maratse, Sergeant Petra “Piitalaat” Jensen, and Konstabel Fenna Brongaard.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Still working on that. But I am enjoying the interaction I get through my mailing list.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up. Just keep writing, and trust your creative voice – don’t give in to the myth of “rewriting”.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Dean Wesley Smith has loads of useful advice, but when he talks about copyright and the “Magic Bakery”, every writer should listen. I did, and have learned so much.

What are you reading now?
I’m going through a Star Wars “behind the scenes” series of books with lots of concept art. I’m also working my way through Wilbur Smith’s “Courtney” series, and a book on Shamanism.

What’s next for you as a writer?
More books in series. Writing smarter, and improving my marketing.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Lord of the Rings, Gorky Park, and Peter F. Hamilton’s “Night’s Dawn Trilogy”.

Awesome Author - Dakota Davies

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve been a writer for over 10 years, but just started writing romance. It’s wildly fun and I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to start. I have two books out so far, with about three more coming by the end of the year.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Her Wild Coast Haven. When I was in my 20s, I spent a summer in Alaska, kayaking, hiking, and glacier climbing. I loved the wild scenery and being outdoors. Between each month-long trip, we came back to the base, which was a big farmhouse surrounded by an endless field of fireweed at the edge of a forest. I’ve always wanted to write about that feeling–of having a beautiful haven set in the wild that welcomes you when you come back from battling the elements. I never would have thought it would come out in a MFM romance! But it fit so well with what all three characters are needing in their life–they need each other and they are all looking for a safe place, a private place, to be themselves and to love each other; having this haven allows them to follow their dreams.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Oh yeah! I’m up at 4am every day and love writing when my house is quiet. As you can imagine, because I have children (who like to peek over my shoulder and read what I’m writing sometimes), it’s hard to write sexy romance scenes when they are awake. So I save my steamiest stuff for the early hours. I also rarely listen to music because I find it makes it harder to enter into the scene in my mind. Most of my stories play like movies in my head, so the more I can shut out every noise or distraction (like my chickens cackling or my children squabbling), the easier this is and the faster I can write.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Harlequins certainly when I was young, and Ken Follett–his sexy WWII thrillers ignited a spark in me. I went through a Nicholas Sparks phase for awhile, but his stories are too sad.

What are you working on now?
Her Wild Coast Rescue, book 3 in the Storm Harbor series, and His Wild Coast Virgin, book 4. I’ll also have 2 holiday books (working title The Christmas Bonus, and Sweeter than Candy). For my women’s fiction that I write under my real name, I am writing the next book in my amateur sleuth series.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use Freebooksy but only if it’s free (it’s not worth it otherwise). PaidAuthor offers a great tool for submitting free book promos. For promoting a Kindle Paperwhite Giveaway, I have loved Giveaway Frenzy.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
The biggest piece of advice I’d say I wish I knew before I started is to have a plan. That may seem obvious but sometimes I fly by the seat of my pants and I get burned. Know when your book will be finished, then back-plan getting reviews, planning promotions, and following up with your readers for sales. Only when I started seeing the big picture in regards to marketing and budgeting did I start to see a real difference in things taking off. Also, start building your email list and be relentless about growing it. Set your sights high–10, 000 readers is a good goal. It may take you a few years, but that’s okay.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Make your book either permafree or use the free book promotion through KDP Select. It’s make a huge difference in my career.

What are you reading now?
Actually I’m reading a parenting book called Bright Kids Who Can’t Keep Up (which is totally one of my kids) and a new release called The River by one of my favorite authors, Peter Heller. I do binge read romances, but mostly just to keep up with market trends. Most romances are too long for me (I write almost exclusively novellas in the 35K range), are not written very well, or have unrealistic situations (even for such a fantasy-based genre).

What’s next for you as a writer?
More books in the Storm Harbor series; I probably will write about 10 total. Then a family-themed series plus standalones that will be related to holiday themes: Halloween, Christmas, Valentines Day. And I’m sure much more!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Alchemist or a book of Mary Oliver’s poems, A Prayer for Owen Meany, The Goldfinch (because it’s good and very long), and some kind of nature guide: birds, shells, foliage that would help me identify the local flora and fauna.
