Awesome Author - J.J. Kihara

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My love affair with actually began by accident. As a 19 year-old college student, I began working as freelancer with big companies like Upwork.com, Fiverr.com and Frelancer.com. I used to write so that I could finance my college education. While still in college, my dad challenged me to become an author. I didn’t care so much what he was talking about. “How can a college student bother to become an author yet there is so much fun to enjoy?” I asked myself. It wasn’t until the summer of 2013 when a strange man, who happened to be my destiny helper, dropped to my desk a hard copy of Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. This masterpiece challenged everything that I knew about life. It is this book that aroused my instincts for greatness. I chose to follow my passion for writing self-development books. I love and value authenticity, originality and creativity. These are the three most important things that wake me up at 4 a.m to write.

I have just completed writing two books that are waiting for Kindle Publishing. In the next few weeks they should be live in the markets.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest books is titled – YOU ARE DESTINED FOR GREATNESS. I was inspired to write this book by the developments that taking place in my personal life. At the age of 19 I lost my lovely mom and this affected so much that I was on the verge of depression. With the help of right mentors and friends, I gradually began to accept that I am bigger than my circumstances. I was inspired by great writers and authors, the likes of Hellen Keller and Napoleon Hill, who overcame great adversities and became legends.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Probably one unusual habit that I have is not writing down an idea that strikes my mind at an instant. This has made me miss out on some very original and creative content. In order to change this habit, I have incorporated an electronic notepad in my creative works. Whenever creative and original words strike my mind, I quickly capture the moment.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
In no particular order, the following authors have influenced my life in ways that baffle my imagination.

1. Napoleon Hill
2. Robert Kiyosaki
3. Judge Troward
4. Joseph Murphy
5. Genevieve Behrend

What are you working on now?
Currently I am working on a book that brings together the timeless truths of spirituality, universal laws and quantum physics. As a physics graduate, I am fortunate to have been exposed to the secrets of quantum physics. I am bringing this “weird” subject out in a way that my reader will understand.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use social media platforms such as Twitter, Google+ and Facebook

Do you have any advice for new authors?
I have only one word of advice for upcoming authors: PATIENCE PAYS. DON’T GIVE UP TOO SOON. WRITING IS NEVER THE EASIEST JOB IN THE WORLD. BUT ITS FRUITS ARE SWEETER THAN HONEY!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Know Thyself

What are you reading now?
Currently I am reading a wonderful book titled – THE POWER OF YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS MIND – by the great Dr. Joseph Murphy

What’s next for you as a writer?
The next thing for me is to become an Amazon bestseller.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
THE POWER OF YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS MIND by Joseph Murphy
YOUR INVISIBLE POWER by Genevieve Behrend
THE MASTER KEY by Charles F. Haanel

Awesome Author - Maggie Plummer

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a multi-genre author based in northwest Montana. Along the winding trail, I’ve worked as a journalist, school bus driver, Good Humor ice cream girl, fishing boat mate, and race horse hot walker, among other things. This is my third published novel.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is entitled Bell-Bottom Gypsy: A Jessie Morgan Novel.
It’s a significant departure from my two previous novels, Spirited Away and Daring Passage, both of which are historical fiction set in the 1650s.
What inspired me to write Bell-Bottom Gypsy? My own 1970s experiences on the road. The novel is loosely based on those real life stories, with a loud emphasis on the word “loosely.” Much of Bell-Bottom Gypsy is pure fiction, embellishment, and wishful thinking.
It feels wonderful to get these stories written — to breathe new, vibrant life into them. They are the framework for my planned four-book Jessie Morgan Series.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m not sure how unusual it is, but I write on a laptop computer in my recliner. Ha!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I think my favorite novel is Harper Lee’s TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. I just love how she told that story. Other authors who have influenced me are Toni Morrison, Barbara Kingsolver, and Anna Quinlen.

What are you working on now?
At the moment, I am working on launching Bell-Bottom Gypsy! Also I am already planning and researching book 2 of the Jessie Morgan Series.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
This is definitely one of them! I need to get better at being organized when it comes to book promotion. Not an easy task, I find.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
I would say make sure you have a well-edited book. I think that content is king. A good cover is important, too. But one of my pet peeves is a self-published author who doesn’t bother to proofread, fix mistakes, and/or hire a good editor.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I think it was Thoreau who said, “Our lives are frittered away by detail. Simplify! Simplify!” I try to live by these words.

What are you reading now?
Michelle Obama’s memoir, BECOMING. It’s great.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Book 2 of the Jessie Morgan Series. Then Book 3, then Book 4!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
To Kill a Mockingbird, A River Runs Through It, Sometimes a Great Notion, and Sula.

Awesome Author - Ronald Willbanks

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
This is my first book and has been about four years in the making. My daughters are teenagers now and it reminded me how I wished I had a mentor when I was younger. Nothing against my parents, but neither of them had a high school diploma when I graduated so they were unable to offer much in the way of career guidance. It is my hope that this career planning guide can help students, returning veterans and career-changers achieve their dream faster than I did.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
During my morning commute — yes, I still have a day job — I listen to podcasts and audiobooks. I love to take in new information and am a constant learner. If I think of something on the way to work, I try to jot it down in a journal so I can add it to my manuscript later. And I write, whenever, wherever I can. With work, family and other stuff that is part of life, it can be challenging to find the time.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I really liked Ernest Hemingway’s writing style. Short sentences. Succinct and to the point… and it felt as if he were there with you talking to you. A few books I really like are The Power of Ambition: Unleashing the Conquering Drive Within You! by Jim Rohn, Winning Every Day: The Game Plan for Success by Lou Holtz, and How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie.

What are you working on now?
My next book will be on Enterprise Service Management. That’s what I do for a living and what I’m best at. Besides, I have a friend who is a regular speaker and a leader in several organizations has asked me to get more involved. I may try presenting at some upcoming conferences to dip a toe in the water. It sounds like fun and a venue where I can help others.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have no idea. I’m a newbie at this. I was going to ask you!

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Regardless of how hard or difficult things get when writing, complete the mission. You’ll feel good about finishing what you’ve started and, if your message is a good one, you may reach people and better their lives. Don’t deprive your readers from being able to benefit from your story.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
An executive at one of my early jobs was a farmer and told me “Do the right thing and you’ll walk right through the weeds.” I wasn’t quite sure what he was talking about at the time, but later realized he was saying “do what is right in your heart and you’ll always succeed.” Most others get distracted or tire of all the hard work it takes to get ahead. If you persevere, your chances are very good you’ll end up well ahead of the rest of the pack.

What are you reading now?
Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion, by Robert Cialdini. I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of this book before. It explains the psychology of why people say yes and it’s not just for salespeople, fundraisers or negotiators. If you work in any organization, you’ll inevitably have to convince others to support you, fund your project, or go along with one of your ideas. I wish someone would have sent me the memo on this book years ago.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I think I’d like to try fiction. I’ve always been intrigued by action and adventure novels and think it would be a great learning experience and a fun project.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I’m stranded on a desert, I’m bringing my 1) US Army Survival Manual, 2) How to Survive on a Deserted Island: Survival Island Guide Handbook 101, 3) How to Build a Wooden Boat, and 4) Shogun, by James Clavell.

Awesome Author - Dena Nicotra

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a huge fan of science fiction and fantasy literature. I think there’s something magical about alternate realities and stories that allow your imagination to take wing. I belong to the tribe of people that dress up as their favorite characters, know every line in their favorite cult-classics, and have at least one favorite poem. If that poem happens to be by Poe, we share a soul connection.

I currently have five published novels, and two in the works.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My most recent book is titled, “Real” and it is book two in the Simp Series. Initially, I thought that Simple would be a stand-alone book, but my fans encouraged me to continue the story.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to write freely and let my characters come to life. If I need inspiration, I use props and trinkets that help me find my groove. For example, one of my favorite characters from the Weaver Series wears a bowler hat. One hangs on the wall in my office. I currently have a small unicorn figurine on my desk, but that’s for another story.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love the classics, but I think one of the biggest influences in my writing started when I was teenager. Everyone was reading V.C. Andrews, and I fell in love with her books. I can still remember how excited I would get to see the new covers on the shelf of the bookstore. I love books that have a strong female lead. A plus is a bit of magic or an element of science fiction. Some of my other favorites include Lev Grossman, Charlaine Harris, Holly Black, and Cassandra Clare.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on a novel that involves fairies. It’s set in the south and follows a young fairy that has fallen in love with a mortal man and has to leave the realm because of it. There may or may not be unicorns involved…but there are definitely some balls of light to be thrown.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I haven’t mastered the best method just yet, but I’m working on it. 🙂

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Always make time for writing. Make sure to surround yourself with people who support your work, and believe in yourself. Everyone has a different style, so never compare yourself. Beyond these things, know that if you were meant to do this, nothing will stand in your way.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“If you don’t ever try, you won’t ever know…which is the same as failing without the effort.”

What are you reading now?
I’m between books at the moment, but I do have a large reading pile that is calling my name.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’ll be writing, editing, collecting ideas, and questing for new readers. There may or may not be unicorns involved.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Complete Tales & Poems of Edgar Allan Poe, The Gunslinger Series by Stephen King, and a tattered copy of Gone With The Wind.

Awesome Author - STELLA RAASCH

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I currently live and work in Aurora, Colorado as a Registered Nurse, but I have deep roots in Pocatello, Idaho and Green Bay, Wisconsin. I am passionate about animal welfare, am an outdoor adventure enthusiast, and love singing and playing my guitar, as well as writing songs on my guitar. In the summer, I enjoy spending time at my mountain retreat in historic Grand Lake, Colorado with my husband and Golden Retrievers, Aspen & Goldie (Goldie in loving spirit). I can also be found kayaking, biking, hiking, paddleboarding, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing throughout the mountainous western states, but Redfish Lake will always be my favorite place to visit, and a place of wonder for me.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
18th Winter is my first debut novel. It was inspired by several things, including my love of animals and nature, along with my fascination of the Sun Valley and Stanley, Idaho areas. Additionally, as an Idaho native, I grew up hearing legends about the Bannock-Shoshone tribe. For my book, I took the coming together of those two tribes back in the 1800’s, and weaved a dark legend into it. 18th Winter could fit well into the Magical Realism genre because it is based upon real people and real places, in addition to real customs and belief systems of the Bannock-Shoshone people.

What’s most important for people to know about the creation of 18th Winter is that it is a living tribute to my beautiful Golden Retrievers, and the life that I’ve been blessed to share with them. Without Goldie and Aspen, the idea for 18th Winter never would have come about. It is because of them that I am able to share this story with the world.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
When I write, I tend to write for 12+hours in one setting. I often wake up in the middle of the night to write thoughts down, and if I am driving, I do a voice recording of my thoughts.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
The story within the pages of 18th Winter was not influenced by an author or book, but rather, I was inspired to go the final mile and publish 18th Winter because I watched a movie called Walt Before Mickey. That gave me the courage and motivation to complete the project.

What are you working on now?
Right now, I taking time to read a few books for leisure. Soon, I will continue writing the second book the 18th Winter series, which may end up being a two-book duology.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
If you do not have a formal writing background/degree in English, it is important that you determine how you want to write (i.e. writing style), and then teach yourself how to write using that style. And then determine the point of view (POV) that you want to use, and the tense (first person, second person, etc.), then learn how write from that POV and tense.

For example, 18th Winter was written in 3rd person, from Collette’s POV. It was written without a mass of annoying tags, “he said,” “she said,” “he thought,” “she thought,” etc. It was written with the distinct intent of making the dialogue between characters, and the character’s thoughts as distinguishable as possible. This is a difficult writing skill that I had to learn along the way!

And, I had to learn how to have events happen in the book versus explaining the events (show versus tell). In other words, I had to learn how to have the readers move along with the events with Collette, versus me telling them about the events. This can be very tricky!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
No matter how hard life gets, and no matter how many times you get knocked down, you must get back up and keep going – keep trying to do your best.

What are you reading now?
I just recently finished reading two books that I had been anxiously waiting for:
1) “Kingdom of Ash” – the last book in the Throne of Glass series by Sarah Maas
2) “Wrath of the Dragon King” – the 2nd book in the Dragonwatch series by Brandon Mull

I am currently reading: “The Dark Wolf” – the 1st book in The Heart of Light series by J.M. Christian.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I need to finish the next book in this series. And, I have solid starts for three other books as well, one of which I am very excited about!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would want Brandon Mull’s Fablehaven books. And, I would also hope to have all of the books by Kate O’Hearn.

Awesome Author - Sharon Kotzur

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Sharon Kotzur
Dip. T, B.Ed., Grad Dip T (Th. Ed) M.Ed.

I am a teacher, educator, leader, former principal and Christian.

I taught for 6 years as a Primary teacher and Curriculum Coordinator before becoming Deputy Principal for 5 years, and then Principal of a Lutheran Primary school at the age of 32. I spent the next 20 years in the job and, in addition, was heavily involved in supporting School Principals and leaders across Australia through Lutheran Principals Australia (as Chair and executive member) as well as the Independent Schools Association of NSW.

I was also the Assistant Director for Lutheran Education Australia (Vic, NSW and Tasmania), for two years and was an Executive Member of the Association of Independent Schools NSW Research Council for four years.

After 20 years of being in the job as Principal, I decided to take some time off to replenish, reflect and recreate.

It was during this time that I decided to record and share some of the lessons learned from my time in the job and record them in such a manner as to encourage others to use them and thus save them valuable time in the process.
This is my first book (but it won’t be my last!)

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called “Easy Speeches: Instant Inspirational Speeches and Motivational Messages for Busy Leaders”.
One of my passions in the field is to equip and empower other leaders for the tasks ahead and help people save time and money in the process. I do not believe in ‘reinventing the wheel’ so to speak, but in sharing resources designed to help, empower and encourage others – and that is why I wrote this book.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really – only that my dog Baxter often accompanies my writing by having to sit directly next to the keyboard on my desk!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have so many favourite authors, many of them both Christian and non-Christian but just recently Jentezen Franklin inspired me to give book writing ago after I listened to a talk that he gave on how he has written many books which he never believed would ever be possible. I often doubted my ability to do so but after listening to him and through my personal faith walk with God, I since decided to put pen to paper and to publish this book. I know that there will be others like it.

What are you working on now?
I am now working on two books:
Book 2 of “Easy Speeches: Instant Inspirational Speeches and Motivational Messages for Busy Leaders” and then a book of Devotions on a range of topics.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
That I am still to discover. I am hoping to learn from many others.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Give it a go and don’t give up!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never give up!

What are you reading now?
The Kindle Publishing Bible (lol) – by Tom Corson-Knowles and my normal bible! 🙂

What’s next for you as a writer?
At the moment I am working on getting my website up and running and integrating and using social media alongside of it.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible and then I would like to bring a whole suitcase of others!

I am the founding director of “One 2 One Counseling”, an organization offering personal therapeutic support to those with emotional and psychological disorders. I have worked at a number of private rehabilitation facilities and treatment centers since 1998 including the world renowned Priory Clinic in London, England. I am knowledgeable in ancient and contemporary philosophy, transcendental thought, general science, theology and mystical & esoteric writings, both classical and modern. I have also worked as a professional musician, singer/songwriter, producer and stage director, travelling the world with a variety of bands and I am the founding director of “A Major Events”, a music production company in Cape Town, South Africa, where I currently reside.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“The Universal Mind” was inspired by a yearning to find out more about the way the world is, the phenomenon of consciousness and the power of our minds and thoughts to heal ourselves and how they affect the world. I want to know what we are made from, (because atoms are actually nothing more than vibrations), what “matter” and “energy” really are and explore the notion that the whole universe could be nothing more than an illusion.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
My writing style is simple and easy. I choose not to use big words as I want this book to be understood. No good if a reader has to do a google search for the meaning of every other word! I like to question the reader and prompt them to think about life and the great scheme of things. The main section of this, my first book, is written in a somewhat sagacious manner, as if a higher intelligence is speaking to us. I give great attention to each sentence to ensure that the flow of the book is meaningful. Unusual writing habits? Well, I will often interrupt whatever I am doing and jump up to jot down a single sentence or phrase, upon which I can later expand. I stare out of the window and think a lot (and smoke too much).

What authors, or books have influenced you?
All books by authors such as Deepak Chopra, Greg Braden, David Icke, Christopher Hitchens, Neale Donald Walsh, Paul Davies, Oliver Sacks, Richard Dawkins, Steven Hawking, Paolo Coelho, John Kehoe, Ben Goldacre, Mitch Albom, plus older works by Milan Kundera, Kahlil Gibran, as well as a host of books by ancient philosophers and more modern thinkers, The Greeks – Aristotle, Archimedes, Plato, The Chinese – Confucius, Lao Tzu, Yang Xion, The great Bhuddist teachings, the Upanishads (ancient Indian texts), also the books of the Kabbalah (ancient Jewish mystical teachings)… then Nietzsche, Berkeley, Russel, Kant, Spinoza, Hume, Descartes, Alain Badiou, David Chalmers, Jack Kerouac – and many others. I have read a vast number of other books as well, novels, biographies and so forth, but my inspiration comes mainly from the philosophers.

What are you working on now?
My second book will be a further exploration of the human condition, the power of mind and thought and will contain some eye-opening stories of my struggle with and recovery from addiction to mind-altering substances.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
So far, Facebook, Twitter and Goodreads.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never get despondent if you get writer’s block. Write your thoughts down one sentence at a time or use bullet points. SELF PUBLISH! Do not wait to find a deal with a publishing company as there are too many scam artists out there. Remain in control of your own promotion.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Self publish.

What are you reading now?
How to stop smoking by Allen Carr!

What’s next for you as a writer?
Still promoting my debut book as a priority. It is essential that a new author gets as much exposure as possible. Also working on my second book, which, because of its surreal and somewhat sensitive content will need great attention and cannot be rushed.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I simply cannot answer that. I would rather have an indefinite supply of cigarettes…and matches!

Awesome Author - Kenneth McClellan

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
To date, I have written seven books, as well as a novella and a short story. I started writing late in life (at age 55), but in 2018 I cranked out six of my seven novels. I am currently working on an epic fantasy book that should be done by the middle of this year.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Captain Phenom is my most recent, based on a teen-age boy with cerebral palsy that due unforeseen circumstances finds himself with super-powers that he is slowly learning how to control.

My inspiration starts with my wife, who has cerebral palsy and our discussion about her youth and how she wished she could take on the bullies and put them in their place. Then a little over a year ago my youngest grand daughter was born brain dead. Though a series of miracles she “woke up” and now appears to be almost normal, though they speculate she might also have cerebral palsy. Captain Phenom (initials are CP, like CP for cerebral palsy) is written for her and those like her that my need a super hero of their own to look up to and take them away from their real life issues from time to time.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Is procrastination an unusual writing habit? I have to really push myself sometimes to get words knocked out.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I am a big fan of Isaac Asimov; one of the few authors I have read very close to everything he’s written. His Foundation and Robots series’ are my all time favorites. I also like Arthur C. Clarke, Ursula K. Le Guin, Andre Norton, and Piers Anthony.

What are you working on now?
Right now I am working on an epic fantasy novel called The Dragons of Neverwind. This will be my first true fantasy novel. It should be finished by the middle of 2019.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
At the moment I haven’t used any, and I am hoping Awesome Gang will give my book sales a shot in the arm.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advise it write. Don’t worry if it’s good or not. That’s what proof-reading, and editors are for. Rewrites can only happen if you’ve WRITTEN something. Get that first one knocked out, the rest will seem possible after that.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t worry what anyone else thinks. Write your story your way. You will always have people try to tell you that for one reason or another you need to change your story. DON’T. It’s your story. An editor can suggest how to make it better, but the changes you make are up to you.

What are you reading now?
Right now I am reading Mother Moon by Bob Goddard. I don’t have as much time to spend reading as I would like. The time I would be reading, I would rather be writing.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Well, until that major movie deal for kDira’s World comes though, I guess I will continue to add to my catalog. Ideally, I would like to be able to work full time at home writing, as my wife’s health declines. Being able to stay home and care for her, getting my writing in as I can, would be my ultimate goal.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
It would have to be the Foundation Trilogy by Isaac Asimov, and maybe an Andre Norton book I hadn’t read yet.

Awesome Author - C. Attleya

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
There is not much to tell about me. I live in the south east of England and my keyboard cannot keep up with my ideas.
I self-published two books:
The Cool Breeze of Spring, A new beginning.
The Cool Breeze of Spring, Rebecca’s diary.
And the dilemma’s facing Caila, in the first novel, appear to get people thinking:
Is there any scenario in which you would agree to have all humans removed from Earth?
If so, who would you choose as your seven companions to make a restart after the apocalypse?

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My books are a set of books:
The Cool Breeze of Spring, A new beginning.
I was inspired by a whiff of spring air, when I arrived at London Victoria, one morning. It was October at that time, and that fresh breeze made me smile in the middle of commuter madness.
The Cool Breeze of Spring, Rebecca’s diary.
Rebecca turned up half-way through my novel, and I had no intention of letting her take a major role. But the 12-year-old had other plans and became one of the major characters. Her diary is meant as a companion novel, but it can also be read as a stand-alone by a younger audience (9+).

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t think so.
Unless a preference for writing outside in the garden is unusual.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I was influenced by a variety of novels and authors. Most of them SFF, but also for example ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time’. I like diversity in characters.

What are you working on now?
The Cool Breeze of Spring, A flying start.
Autistic whale-watching boat captain Lucas is asked to select 7 companions who will survive the apocalypse with him. He chooses the woman of his dreams and six brilliant teens from a special needs school.
This is a parallel to my first novel.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m not really sure yet.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Go online and meet other writers. I find Twitter very useful.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
You’ll only regret what you haven’t tried.

What are you reading now?
Station Eleven

What’s next for you as a writer?
Find an agent for The Cool Breeze of Spring, A flying start, or self-publish. Then, either a sequel to The Cool Breeze of Spring, A new beginning, or work on one of my other ideas.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, by Mark Haddon.
My Best Friend’s Girl, by Dorothy Koomson.
Swan Song, by McCammon novel.
Gifts of the Crow, by John Marzluff.

Awesome Author - Joann Keder

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
This is my first, full-length novel. I wrote a novella in 2009.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“The Story of Keilah.” I had a friend in grade school who was the most beautiful, perfect person I had ever met. As an adult, I can look back and see there were many parts of her world that weren’t ideal, but at that time, they weren’t visible to me. I thought, what if a person like this person showed up in the life of someone so miserable and unsure of themselves they just said, “ok, you take over. I don’t know how to do this right.” And then I wondered, after so many years how would things work when this fairy princess suddenly disappeared and this person now had to figure things out for themselves?

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I try to be very structured in my writing each day. I do have certain coffee shops with just the right amount of buzz. I save those for one time per month, so that they don’t become boring.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Fannie Flagg’s writing is how I aim to structure my stories. She writes about the culture and unique social structures of the south. I try to do the same with Midwestern culture. Jeannette Wall is another author who is true to her roots and portrays her truth with dignity.

What are you working on now?
My next book takes place in Sandy Salts, Iowa – one of the fictitious towns featured in The Story of Keilah. Four friends witness something awful the day of their graduation. They agree to come together and talk about it on their 20th reunion. One dies before that day and the rest are still trying to come to grips with the event they covered up. One half of the book takes place in present day, the other half during their childhoods.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still working on that! Literary fiction is a bit tricky.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t let the process overwhelm you. Start slowly, with one sentence. Turn that into a paragraph and then take each of those sentences and make each one a paragraph. Outline your characters. Take months if you need.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be a living obituary. Sounds macab, but think about it – what words define you? What words do you want to define you? Whatever you want your legacy to be, live it.

What are you reading now?
Just writing at the moment. Soon I’ll re-read something by Amy Tan.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to create as many novels as my mind and time will allow.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Sarah Howell’s “The Wordy Shipmates,” Fannie Flagg’s, “Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café,” Barbara Kingsolver’s “The Bean Trees,” and Maya Angelou, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.”

Awesome Author - Pam Jernigan

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve been writing for almost four decades now. Until a few years ago, I contented myself with writing fanfic. I’ve got five original novels in the “first draft complete but needs work” stage (it’s a sci-fi series), and the one I’ve self-published. I’m more verbal than visual – I love writing dialog but sometimes have to be reminded to mention scenery. I’ve been part of a local author’s group since 2013. In my day job, I’m an accountant, so I live vicariously through my characters – they’re far more adventurous than I am.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The book is Whispers in the Dark, and it was originally inspired by the movie Warm Bodies, which I watched many times. After a while I got dissatisfied – I wanted more details about the romance part. How do you get a character to go from being terrified to falling in love? Seriously, that’s a challenge, and the movie didn’t quite work for me. So I thought I’d see if I could manage it, myself. It’s not insta-love on Karen’s part; Leo has to earn it.
I’ve always loved Beauty and the Beast type stories, but did you ever notice that the only reason she sticks around to get to know him is because she has no choice in the matter? I wanted to see if I could get around that one, too.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know how unusual it is, but I like to create playlists/”soundtracks” to my novels as I’m writing them. The songs have to fit the novel, but then they turn around and influence the novel, as well. Whispers in the Dark is named after a song by Skillet. I don’t like music while I’m writing, usually, but it’s great for listening in the car, just to keep the creative juices flowing.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
So many… I discovered Asimov and Heinlein in junior high (aka middle school), and have loved sci-fi ever since. Loved the dragon-rider books. Lois McMaster Bujold is amazing in her use of language and her world-building. But I don’t stick only with sci-fi. I love a good love story. Georgette Heyer wrote regency romances that made me burst out laughing (while I was trying to hide the book under the desk in class, so that’s not entirely a good thing!). I’m a fan of Jayne Ann Krentz romances, especially the ones with paranormal elements. I like that sense of wonder.

What are you working on now?
I’ve got a series that starts about a hundred years in the future, on a planet that we’ve colonized. The colonists are starting to wonder if it’s time to become their own countries. Sort of the American Revolution in space, if Quebec and Florida had joined in rejecting all of Europe, not just Britain. I’m focusing on the clandestine activities that will lead up to a final confrontation – they’re hoping to manage it without bloodshed. The colonists are at a disadvantage – the planet they’re on doesn’t have a breathable atmosphere, which constrains their options. Lots of “I know you’re supposed to be my enemy but I really like you anyway” kind of relationships.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
This one, I hope! I haven’t done that much marketing. I’m on Facebook and peek at Twitter sometimes.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write. Keep writing until you reach “The End”. Then go back and edit. You do not need a literature degree, you just need to have a story to tell.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Writers are readers first, and they read the best in the genres they like, so they have high standards. And when they start writing, they’re not as good, so their brains try to tell them that they suck. Spoiler: the only way to success is through “suck”.

What are you reading now?
I just finished re-reading Killashandra by Anne McCaffrey.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I need to take my own advice, buckle down, and edit my first drafts!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Outside of the Bible and a survival manual? The Curse of Chalion by Lois McMaster Bujold. Absolutely, Positively by Jayne Ann Krentz. The Talisman Ring by Georgette Heyer. The Martian by Andy Weir.

Awesome Author - Sofia Diana Gabel

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve just released my eighth novel, but have several short stories and a novella published as well. I was born in Sydney, Australia, but am living in central California now, in the beautiful town of Pacific Grove at the tip of the Monterey Peninsula.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
War and Money. This is the first book in a series. I was inspired to write it because, as the title implies, wars are generated mostly for money, something I personally find appalling. That general theme is woven into this book, but with aliens, battles, and cool fighter ships.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to be working on several stories at one time, working on one for a while, and then switching. When I reach a particular point in one story though, I will usually concentrate only on that one.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I really like Hugh Howey’s writing style, but also the classics like Asimov. And of course, the story telling of J.K. Rowling!

What are you working on now?
Book 2, War and Disorder, to follow War and Money. Plus another novel that I’m about 2/3 of the way through. And I’m resurrecting an old YA novel where the ending fell apart, so I need to fix that.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Other than Awesome Gang? Bargain Booksy is excellent.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t self-doubt. Keep at it, attend writing conferences, workshops, join a critique group, and generally hang out with other authors. We’re solitary creatures when writing, so make sure to get some socialization and feedback.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
You’re worth it. Whatever ‘it’ is.

What are you reading now?
Steinbeck. Since moving to the Monterey area, where Steinbeck lived, I have a new appreciation for his work. And there are stories of his that I’ve never read!

What’s next for you as a writer?
Finish the series I’m working on, and finish every other story I’ve started. And promotion, of course!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Anything by Steinbeck. Harry Potter, Lost City by Clive Cussler.

Awesome Author - A.L. Hawke

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a science fiction/fantasy writer combining fiction with a dash of spice. Candy Savant is my first published novel.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Candy Savant.

The source of inspiration for Elise, the crazed manic megalomaniac overlord who fancies Candy, came years ago. I often develop stories when listening to music. In Elise’s case, I was inspired from the rock band Garbage. This, mixed with one of my favorite novels, Frankenstein, spawned my own wicked creation.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
This a little embarrassing, but one of my favorite things I used to do a lot when I was younger was come up with stories in my head while listening to music. Sometimes the process of just listening to a favorite CD, just listening, and allowing imagination to complete a story when hearing an album from start to finish is pure, free flowing, and without thought. There’s no obstruction with syntax, back story, dialogue, or anything else. It’s pure. Many of my ideas have come from this process.

Other than that, I’m like other writers. I write when I wake up, when on break, during lunch, after dinner, then into the night. Then I write some more. It’s a bit of an obsession, really.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Hmm …
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, of course
American Psycho by Brett Easton Ellis
The Shining by Stephen King
Dune by Frank Herbert
The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley
And who can forget Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James?

What are you working on now?
A contemporary romantic fantasy involving a rather obnoxious Greek goddess and her struggle with mortal lovers. They just seem to keep dying on her.

And, very probably, a sequel to Candy Savant.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
How ‘bout you guys?

And, of course, my author website at alhawke.com.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
On one hand, it is very easy to publish in 2019 and get your idea out into the world. That makes writing an exciting time. It’s also one of the few art forms left where your ideas can remain your ideas in their purest form without outside influence. On the other hand, ease makes it possible to throw things together. Don’t do that.

Of course, with so many books, exposure can be rather daunting. But, if you have a passion for it, I say do it. It’s really cool to see your work out in the world. Super cool.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Live life to the fullest … but if not, write about it.

What are you reading now?
Twilight by Stephanie Meyer
Damned by Chuck Palahniuk

What’s next for you as a writer?
More books.

The contemporary fantasy romance I mentioned is in its final draft phase. After beta reading, editing, more editing, and polishing, it should be good to go. For y’all who liked Candy Savant, you’ll love it!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Fun question.
1) A how to book on surviving on a deserted island (sorry, I couldn’t resist, but I’m not very outdoorsy and otherwise wouldn’t survive very long).
2) The Complete Works of William Shakespeare. I need to read his stuff one day. (kidding aside, hats off to the master).
3) Candy Savant (shameless plug … but I probably would ‘cause I wrote it).

Awesome Author - C. S. Gaymon

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hello! As of writing this, I just put my first ever self published up for preorder. I’m a college student majoring in computer science. I play a bit of golf on the side as well.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Shattered Stars is the only book I’ve written thus far. I got the inspiration from reading many dragon stories on DeviantArt.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not sure what’s considered unusual yet, so I’m gonna pass on this.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
There are a few authors on DeviantArt who have influenced me greatly, though I’ll keep their names anonymous for privacy reasons.

What are you working on now?
I am working on the sequel to Shattered Stars at the time of writing.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I post my writing on DeviantArt and Wattpad as well as the paid online stores. Getting my story out into the world is still my first priority.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Remember that humans have a 3-to-1 negativity bias. That means that for every 1 good thing we find in ourselves, we are compelled to find 3 bad things. Being aware of this fact is more than enough to lessen its negative effects.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be afraid, then do it anyway.

What are you reading now?
I am currently awaiting Chris Fox’s next installment of the Magitech Chronicles, a perfect blend of fantasy and science fiction.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I have no freaking idea.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Gosh, probably books on lone survival. I’d be too freaked out to enjoy a good novel.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The seventh wave principle is inspired by my ten year study of stock waves. What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
facebook has been effective but problematic.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Bad spelling and punctuation will make or break you.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?

What are you reading now?
The kybalion

What’s next for you as a writer?

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written two books to date. The first was a martial art book and now my novel.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest novel is called Mommy, I Don’t Want To. I was inspired by a real life mysterious criminal and his crime spree that took place during the mid 70s up to the mid 80s.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Well kind of . I wrote this book while living in a historical place in China. The area I was living at the time is called Songshan Shaolin. It is the village just outside the famous Shaolin Temple birth place of martial arts and Chan Buddhism .

I would begin writing as soon as I woke up. Often is was while sitting on the toilet and drinking coffee. After spending several hours on writing ,I would take a walk down a lovely quiet road with the awesome view of the Songshan mountains.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
While writing Mommy, I Don’t Want To I read several books that helped inspire me. Some of the books I read for inspiration were Psycho, First Blood, Death Wish, Death Sentence, The Hellbound Heart and A Clockwork Orange. All are famous cult classics films which came from novels.

What are you working on now?
I am waiting for some inspiration. I do not want to write for the sake of writing. I am only concerned with writing a masterpiece which I feel Mommy, I Don’t Want To is. When I get strongly inspired again is when I will write my next book.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I still do not know sorry.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Do not make yourself the focus point. Think of writing a great story and inspiring others. If fame comes it comes, but it should not make it your reason for writing.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
There are several pieces of good advice I learned when figuring out how to write a novel. One was make an outline first, instead of just siting down and trying to write a whole book from beginning to end. Another is write in the morning, the brain is fresh and that seems to help. Then there is enjoy the victories. Don’t be too hard on yourself and whatever progress you make enjoy it.

What are you reading now?
I am looking for a new great book to read. I have tried several and unfortunately stopped midway through due to lake of interest. I am a picky reader.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to promote my current book, I feel it would make a great film. Let’s see what happens.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Warriors, Death Wish and Death Sentence, A Clockwork Orange and one new one that looks intriguing.

Awesome Author - Lawrence Medici

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I currently work in corporate America so writing, at this point, is a part time job. My wife and I have been married over thirty years and I have two grown children.
This is my first book. I am currently working on my second and I have ideas for 5 more in various stages of development.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My first novel is a horror novel called “In the Shadows”. Many years ago when my daughter was small we took a trip to New York City with a group of friends. It was very cold out and we had gone into the lobby of a large office building to get warm. A homeless man was camped out there, sitting on the floor with bags and stuff around him. At first my daughter didn’t see him, but then she caught sight of him out of the corner of her eye and she got scared.
Thinking about that moment years later, I thought what if she had seen something in that man that the adults had not. Adults tend to avert their eyes, not willing to engage in eye to eye contact or so as not to seem like they are staring at the person. But kids will stare, and what if there was more there than just a normal homeless man?

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No real unusual habits. I don’t use an outline. I just write but I don’t initially number the Chapters. I just write the various scenes as different sections with a separator and then I can switch them around and reorder them without renumbering. Once I am done and I have things in a sequence I like I will go through and break it into chapters.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I write horror, so the obvious but truthful answer is Stephen King. I also enjoy his son Joe Hill’s work. I like horror where the characters are very down to earth and believable. I find I can suspend disbelief in the more fantastic elements of a story if those elements are anchored to the familiar.

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on my second novel “Human Trials” about a drug trial that has disastrous consequences.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I wish I could give some good advice here. I have yet to find a really effective way to promote my work. There is so much being put out these days it is a real struggle to get noticed in the crowd.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep refining your work and don’t get discouraged. At least for me, I find I will write a few paragraphs and while writing it and think “this is good stuff”. Then I will read it over and think “this is a load of crap”. So I keep going over it, refining it, adding nuance and detail. Getting the proper phrasing and language to add mood and texture. Eventually it turns into something I am satisfied with. It never flows from brain to paper perfectly, so keep at it and it will get there.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Best advice I ever heard came from my wife; “Stop telling me all these ideas you have for books and start writing.” Writing is a lot of work. Bite the bullet and do it. The results may not always be financially rewarding but they are personally rewarding.

What are you reading now?
I just finished reading “In the Valley of the Sun” by Andy Davidson. I highly recommend it. Not only is it a great story but Mr. Davidson is a fantastic writer. His ability to paint a mood and an atmosphere with words is awe inspiring.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Just to keep writing. Like I mentioned I have a lot of material floating around in my head, I need to relieve the pressure. I love getting feedback from people who have read my work. It is very gratifying when someone has been entertained by something you created.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
“The Shining” and “The Stand” Stephen King, “Ghost Story” Peter Straub and the complete works of Edgar Allan Poe.

Awesome Author - P.C. Darkcliff

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Many fiction writers are slightly nuts, and I suspect I’m no exception. My imagination has always been almost disturbingly vivid. I managed to convince all my kindergarten friends that I was the grandson of an African shamaness–and I made up so many stories about the unknown continent and about Grandma’s jungle tribe that I nearly believed it as well. I’ve lived in six countries and on three different continents. Although ruinous to my bank account, the seminomadic lifestyle has been hugely inspirational, and many of my adventures have spilled into my stories. My wife and I have recently settled in Southwestern Spain.
I’ve written for novels. Deception of the Damned has just been released on Amazon–and it’s getting awesome reviews. The Priest of Orpagus will be released this summer. God of Madness and The Dead Immortal are coming out over the next two years. The fifth novel, Toothache, is in the making.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
It’s called Deception of the Damned. It’s partly based on my experiences from living around Europe, and on my passion for fictional mythology.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I usually write on the balcony, listening to music to block out the noises from the street.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
H.P. Lovecraft, Ken Follet

What are you working on now?
I’m preparing my second novel for coaching/editing, which takes place in April.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still looking into that. But since I’m on a budget, I go for free stuff, like AwesomeGang 🙂

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Plot your stories carefully. Try to find your own voice. Avoid unnecessary and showy words–show, don’t tell.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write every day. I’ve learned the hard way that letting your pen rust makes your writing squeak.

What are you reading now?
I’m just beta reading a new project for my writer friend.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Publish my second novel, sometime this summer.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Robinson Crusoe, All Quiet on the Western Front, Complete stories by H.P. Lovecraft, and Pillars of the Earth.

Awesome Author - LeeAnn Bonds

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m happily married, Mom to three, Grandma to five, a follower of Christ, and a wanderer of the planet. I grew up a military brat, and can’t seem to stay in one place for too long. I started (and abandoned) my first novel while living in north Idaho, where I also published a few magazine articles and online bits. I wandered to Hawaii and then to Saipan before publishing a novel, and at the end of March I’ll have published the second.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Montana Rising: Scrabble Weather. This and the first book in the series (Montana Rising: Wordplay) were inspired by an intriguing set of words on the board after a Scrabble game. My husband and I play often, and a few years ago I had the idea to write a story that included all the words played on the board in one game.
As it’s turning out, my main character, Montana, writes the ‘Scrabble story’ in each book. Readers get to read about Montana’s challenging life, and in each book they get to read a new story she’s writing. And although Monti (as Montana’s friends call her) lives in the here and now, she writes stories with a fantastical twist.
In the first book, Bo and Anisette fight the terrible consequences of a hex. In this second book, Nora receives supernatural help as she’s enduring struggles in the deep woods.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know that my habits are that unusual, but my background music may be. I write each day to the crowing and clucking of wild jungle fowl (read: feral chickens), and the barking of a plethora of Booney dogs (wild, half-tame and domesticated). Feral chickens and Booney dogs are abundant on our island of Saipan in the Pacific.
The view out my window is gorgeous and includes palm trees and hibiscus. But it’s the sounds, especially the peeping of baby chicks following a wild hen wandering through our yard that’s the most distracting!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
C. S. Lewis is my all-time favorite author, and his broad range of work inspires me to entertain, encourage, and illuminate all at once if I possibly can. I love good books in all genres, from a bit of classic romance (Jane Eyre) to a tiny bit of scary stuff by Dean Koontz and Stephen King. Lots of sci fi, spec fic, and character driven stories in between.

What are you working on now?
I’m working on launching Montana Rising: Scrabble Weather, and starting in on book 3 of the series.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still learning the marketing aspects of being an author, but I do believe a strong email list of fans is a powerful thing.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write great stories! Learn marketing. Write some more great stories.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose. –Jim Elliot

What are you reading now?
Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport. Halsey Street by Naima Coster. The Case for Easter by Lee Strobel.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to take it to the next level, finish the next story sooner and smooth out the process of sharing it with the world. I have lots of stories hammering around in my head, waiting for their turn!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Well, I do live on an island, but thank God I have my Kindle with me! But if I was limited, I’d take: my Bible, a one volume edition of the Chronicles of Narnia, Jane Eyre, and a big blank book to write in, to keep me sane.

Awesome Author - Julie-Anne England

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi, I am a blogger, writer, wife and home-school mum to three kids. My blog Real Life Hope shares the real life story behind living a life of faith and its ups and downs.
I love to write about my passion for God, inspirational stories, devotionals and living a life of confidence. My first book Beautiful opened my eyes to how much I love writing and sharing my stories and inspiration with others around me.
I am already busy writing my second book around the demands of having three home-schooled children. Maybe my next book will be on time management 🙂

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My first book Beautiful was inspired by my own struggles with self esteem after I was horribly injured in a car accident in my late teens. Battling against the notion that I was ugly and unloveable, I was able to find peace in God and realise my worth even past what I was feeling in the years of recovery.
My journey took me to a place where I now live with confidence knowing my worth comes for God and nowhere else.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Being a home-school mum to three kids, I don’t usually have much free time so my writing is done at 5am most mornings while the family are still sleeping. I find that enjoying this peace of the early morning gives me a lot of inspiration to write and still fulfill my role of teaching my beautiful kids.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I read so much. I know that there are so many authors out there with great advice, stories and inspiration to share and I want a part of that. Reading opens my eyes to other points of view and gives me fresh insight that I otherwise wouldn’t have known.
Two books that have greatly influenced me include 168 hours: You have more time than you think by Laura Vanderkam and The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. Let’s just say my life really needed some time management techniques.

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on my second book Strong which shares the major characteristics in being a strong Christian woman, especially through hardship and loss. I want to empower women to use what they have been through to come out stronger and use their pain as a platform for greatness in their lives.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I do some advertising and promote my books mainly by my website and word of mouth. My friends and family are greatly supportive and have been so happy to share my books with others.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just get writing! I have wanted to be an author for such a long time but I didn’t do it for so many reasons. Once I made the decision to take the leap, it just flowed and I finally feel like I’m in the place where I’m meant to be.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
To be uniquely myself. Its easy to be inspired by someone else’s life and want to be like them but we were created the way we are for a specific purpose. Not being ourselves robs the world of what we really have to offer.

What are you reading now?
The Perfect You by Dr Caroline Leaf and The 1% rule by Tommy Baker. I love to read a variety of genres and both of these authors are so inspiring.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I would really like to take my story further by doing some speaking engagements and sharing my story of self esteem and building up others in their confidence.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, a concordance and a journal for writing (does that count or is that cheating? lol)

Stephen King and Dean Koontz…

I publish on Amazon, but as far as promoting that is hard to gauge. Awesomegang has an intuitive website which I enjoy.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t try to be perfect with your first ink, get it out of your head and onto paper. That is what editing is for.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Flow and fluidity must exist or your book will be put on the wayside.

What are you reading now?
The Mexican Tree Duck by James Crumley.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I would like to keep the Milkman series going, but I also have a different thriller roaming around in my head.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I’m not a fan of rereading the same books over, they have to be truly special, I’d find a new series.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?

I’d like more freedom for the art of writing. It’s too distracting trying to do Sfx at the same time

Awesome Author - Joel M. Kelly

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born and raised in the Southeastern United States, but I have traveled to the 48 contiguous states in the U.S. as well as ten countries across the globe. Life is meant to be lived-I’ve jumped from an airplane, been in a rodeo, and worked in a secret underground military base. I love a dry sense of humor, and collecting bits of obscure knowledge. My first book was completed in January 2019, and I have plans for two more to follow in this series.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“Avantae: Rise of Rouhn” is the first book in this trilogy, and will be followed by “Avantae: Quest for the Wayward Bones” and finally “Avantae: Tree of Inception”. I had an idea for a story that I don’t think has ever been told, and it seems like unique ideas are hard to find. Many books are composed recycled ideas, in a way. I want to bring something to my audience that has never been done.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t write a formal outline. It’s all laid out in my head, and I know pretty much which chapter will hold certain points of the plot. I find it easiest to create new ideas or overcome writer’s block while I’m driving across the country. Since I’m dyslexic, I tend to write the plot and character discussions down chapter by chapter. Cristy (the editor, and my Other Half) reads it back to me aloud, then she collaborates with me on painting the pictures with words. Once we get to a finishing point, we bring in my best friend, Terry, to give us a critique or assist with conceptual issues.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Terry Goodkind and Robert Jordan have been the greatest influences, but not in the most traditional way.

What are you working on now?
Book two, “Quest for the Wayward Bones”.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I haven’t found the magic key for promotion yet. It has taken a great deal of work and money to get this far, and it has certainly been a struggle.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
It’s a lot more work than one would imagine. Try to write every day, even if it’s for a few minutes. You would be amazed at how much your style will grow and improve over time.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming.” -Dory, “Finding Nemo”

What are you reading now?
I’m not reading much at the moment, all of my spare time is spent writing.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Book Two, then straight into Book Three.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
“How To Build a Raft”, “How To Survive on a Desert Island”, “Popup Book of Air Conditioning”.

Awesome Author - Alfonso Aguirre Baeza

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?

Do you have any unusual writing habits?

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Isaac asimov, Stephen king.
He leído mucho de ellos y me encantan sus libros, pero siempre he procurado no inspirarme mucho en otros escritores, pues prefiero crear mi propio estilo de escritura y narración, con mis defectos y virtudes, para ir mejorando con el tiempo.

What are you working on now?
Estoy empezando la segunda parte de LA REINA SOMBRA.
También estoy adaptando a novela escrita una película llamada EL SECRETO DE MIRABAJO, que rodé hace años y que me han pedido que la saque en libro.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Todas las que me den la oportunidad de promocionar mi novela son bienvenidas, por muy pequeña que sea, la promoción depende mucho de lo que se mueva el escritor en darla a conocer, pues el libro no se promociona solo.

Do you have any advice for new authors?

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Si dentro de tus posibilidades luchas por lo que deseas, sera mas fácil conseguirlo.

What are you reading now?
Ahora leo poco, sólo escribo, trabajo, escribo, trabajo.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Me gustaría que la gente leyera mas en papel y no tanto en móvil o table, el contacto con el papel sigue siendo inigualable, además perjudica menos la vista.
la cultura no debería pagar impuestos. (otro sueño imposible).

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Manual de supervivencia, Robinson crusoe, Como aprender a nadar en 4 pasos, etc.
