Awesome Author - Ryiesesa Heath

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Where do I begin? I’m 27 and a psychology major. From the small town of Pageland, SC and the youngest out of 4 kids. I have so far written two books. One is called “The Awakening” Part One and the second is an interactive book called, “Self-love and You Edition 1.”

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is in fact “Self-love and You Edition 1”. What inspired me to write this book was the lack of knowledge people had about themselves. So with this book, they go through and answer the questions as well as completing the exercises, which in turn will help them dig deep and learn things about themselves.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Unusual writing habits? I don’t think I have any of those.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I wouldn’t say any authors or books influenced me. A quote, however, did influence me. I don’t exactly remember who said it, but it goes, “If you can’t find the book you want to read, its because you are meant to write it.”

What are you working on now?
At the moment I am working on, “The Awakening: As Above, So Below” which will be out in March 2019.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I haven’t found the best method however I promote on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Let’s see.. advice for new authors? Stay focused. Don’t let others try and tell you how to write because everyone is different. Your audience will accept you the way you are.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Be you; the world will adjust.”

What are you reading now?
At this moment I’m not reading anything just working on writing and my studies.

What’s next for you as a writer?
What’s next? Well, I have this brilliant idea for a book that I want to eventually be a screenplay, so that will be my next project.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I were going to be stranded on a desert island and were allowed to take 3 or 4 books with me, I’d take a book on building so that I could make a shelter. A vegan cookbook so I’d know what types of things I could eat that I wouldn’t have to kill. A book on purifying water, and a book on building boats so that I could get back home

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Forgotten Secrets – Book 4 of my Secrets of the Heart Series. I love to write about strong women, even in the medieval times. In the summer I write from my hammock in my secret garden in my yard. That is what inspired this series. There is a secret garden in all four books, and a secret society of strong women devised by the queen.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
For me, it is all or nothing. I am not one of those authors who can write a little here and a little there. I’ll write sometimes twelve hours a day because when I am into a book I don’t want to be pulled out of it and have to go back and read what I wrote the previous day. That is much too time consuming.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Back 20+ years ago when I started writing romance, it was because I received something in the mail from Harlequin saying I won money and four free books. When my free books came, I didn’t know what to do with them since I had never read a romance before.

I was going to send them to my mother-in-law, but didn’t want to be embarrassed, since I had heard horrible things about these kinds of books. So I read one. It was a medieval called The Saxon by Margaret Moore. I was hooked after that. I loved it, and my mother-in-law never got a one of the books.

What are you working on now?
I am about to start working on May Queen, Book 3 in my Holiday Knights Series that takes place on May Day.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My website is http://elizabethrosenovels.com. Readers can see covers and read excerpts from all of my books there.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes. When writing a book, don’t keep going back and revising until after you have a first draft. If so, you will never get past chapter 3. I know because I’ve been there when I first started writing.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you want something bad enough, you’ll find a way to do it. Or, Just do it!

What are you reading now?
I have a very aggressive publishing schedule as I usually write and publish 10 – 12 books a year. With that said, there isn’t much time to read. That is why I listen to audiobooks instead.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I always have a hundred things in my mind of what I want to write. I have many interests and some of them are books that are not romance. So, we’ll see.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
“How to Survive on a Desert Island”, “How to Find Food and Water in Desperate Situations,” and “How to Build a Shelter and Make Fire.” Hee hee. Too many to choose from.

Awesome Author - Michael Baeyens

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Michael Baeyens. I was born in Oudenaarde, Belgium, in 1982, and I work as an English teacher in a comprehensive school in Belgium.
Writing is my passion, and so far I’ve written two Dutch fantasy novels: Dochter van de Poorten and Scherven van Vergeten Tijden. I’ve written one Dutch short story, Een Erfenis (An Inheritance) and two English short stories, Island and Forsaken. My most recent project is The Fen: my first full-length English novel.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is titled The Fen. The story was inspired by a dream I had about a small, abandoned church in a forest. For some reason, its bells started ringing one night, and local villagers began flocking to it.
I live in Belgium, and the south of the country, the region known as the Ardennes, is known for its forests. I decided to base some but not all of the story there.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
It depends on what you would call unusual. One old-fashioned thing I do is write the first draft in longhand. I insist on using fountain pens and I’ve developed an interest in fountain pen ink. I’d say writing by hand creates an immediacy between the story and yourself. Also, you’re not staring at a screen when thinking, which in this digital age is a massive bonus.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve been a reader for as long as I can remember. I’d say my first steps into the world of fantasy were thanks to JRR Tolkien, though my absolute favourite series in that genre would have to be Steven Erikson’s Malazan Book of the Fallen.
Fantasy aside, I think my biggest influence has to be H.P. Lovecraft. I discovered his work, alongside that of E.A. Poe, W.H. Hodgson, A. Bierce, M. Shelley, M.R. James etc., when I started branching out from reading predominantly fantasy. I am enthralled by stories which hint at the limitless possibilities of the world beyond accepted reality.

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on several projects at once: a few short stories, a collection of haiku, and a science fiction/fantasy novel which takes up most of my time. It’s the first time I haven’t focused exclusively on one project at a time, and I must say I find it refreshing.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
To be honest, this is one of the aspects I’m still figuring out. I can say, however, that my personal website and my presence on social media have been instrumental in getting the word out there.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
I don’t think I’m going to be breaking new ground with this, but I’d advise anyone who loves writing to keep practising and to persevere: writing is something which improves over time. Recently, I was shocked when I re-read something I had written ten years ago. Simply put, there was not a single sentence I would leave the way I had written it back then – which is a good thing!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write to make one specific reader happy. Quite often, that will be you yourself: you should write stories you would like to read. Afterwards, get a group of diverse, critical proofreaders and have them pick apart everything you’ve created. It will hurt (if you’ve put your heart into the story, that is) but you will learn a lot from the impressions your work leave on others. Note: you won’t be able to please all of your proofreaders and you shouldn’t try, either.

What are you reading now?
I’m currently studying Basho’s Complete Haiku (translated by Jane Reichhold) and Robert Tombs’ The English and their History.

What’s next for you as a writer?
The above-mentioned writing projects aside, I’m currently working on publishing my first poetry collection. Poetry, I’ve discovered, is a world apart from prose writing, and the journey has been most interesting so far.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I’m going to go with the Malazan Book of the Fallen (given its 11,000 pages, I’m going to request an e-reader and a solar panel for this one), Lovecraft’s collected stories, The Lord of the Rings and MR James’s ghost stories.

Awesome Author - Christopher Renna

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
In the past, I have written a couple novels, several short stories, and dozens of songs.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
DARKNESS ON THE HORIZON. I had the idea many years ago but initiated the writing process only two years ago. The seed of the story was inspired by the genre and my desire to create a story that didn’t necessarily follow genre rules.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t think I have any unusual writing habits. My stories unfold in a natural way, because I don’t use outlines. So, I like to create a wall of visuals for characters, settings, locations, and other important elements of the story. I also create a soundtrack to accompany scenes. During the creation process, sometimes I sit, close my eyes, and let the scene play out in my mind as I take notes. But I think many authors probably incorporate the same tools and methods.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m not really influenced by an author’s body of work. But there are certain books that spark my writing fire. WATCHERS by Dean Koontz. THE SAVAGES by Matt Whyman. THE HOUSE OF THE SCORPION by Nancy Farmer. And books that have stayed with me forever: THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK, THE BOXCAR CHILDREN, and HEAVEN by V.C. Andrews.

What are you working on now?
I recently set aside two stand-alone novels, so I could focus on the sequel to DARKNESS. I’m enjoying myself as I write and experience the story of the characters. BEFORE THE SUN RISES will be released in August or September of this year.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I suppose Instagram and Facebook have been relatively successful promoting my book. But, as a self-published author, I detest the daily routine of posting and checking those sites. (Plus, how many damn selfies do I have to take and share?) I’m much more satisfied and appreciative of outlets such as Awesome Gang that provide a wider audience for my work.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Writing advice: just write. Edit, edit, edit. Then revise and polish. Edit again. Polish again. Read the novels you love and read the novels you force yourself to finish reading. Learn from the work of others.
New self-published author advice: be prepared to work your butt off. Unless you have a couple friends helping out, you are a team of ONE. Research every topic that comes to mind. Do everything you can to make your book a success.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Shut the door. When writing, focus on your story and tune-out everything else.

What are you reading now?
I’m writing, so I’m not reading a lot. But I recently started SPEAK by Laurie Halse Anderson. And I’d like to get to GIRL IN PIECES by Kathleen Glasgow and THE ATROCITIES by Jeremy Shipp.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Work on BEFORE THE SUN RISES. After its release, I can concentrate on two other novels. I also have two writers that I’m mentoring and an author that I’m going to walk through the self-publishing process.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Diary of Anne Frank, The Boxcar Children, and Heaven (all mentioned above.)

Awesome Author - Patrick Skelton

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My lovely wife and I live in Columbus, OH. We’ve been married for twelve years and have one fur baby…Winston the Terrier. Fun fact, Winston loves to watch television with us. He sits on the couch and waits for aminals to come on tv. Then he jumps off the couch and barks at the tv like a lunatic. It was funny at first, now it’s just plain annoying! By day, I’m a flooring estimator at RiteRug. By night, I’m a science fiction writer. I’m hoping my writing will one day pay the bills…here’s to hoping!

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My debut novel, Barriers, was released in January of 2019. On the surface, it’s a dystopian novel about solar flares and a father trying to rescue his son from being euthanized in the badlands. Below the surface, however, it’s a heartfelt, but scary story about the sanctity of life. One thing my readers tell me is that my writing is clean and they appreciate the restraint in my storytelling. I think we’ve lost the art as storytellers to leave ugly and offensive elements to the imagination.

Here is the blurb for Barriers:
In 2079, Barrier domes shield the planet’s wealthiest cities from destructive solar flares, and only the healthy elite are granted protection. That’s bad news for Barrier resident, Nathan Gallagher—his son’s untreatable medical condition has deemed him a non-compliant citizen.

Nathan sets out to rescue his son from a Sanctuary deep in the badlands and becomes entangled in a mission of global magnitude. With only days until another flare is due to strike Earth’s Sanctuary cities, not only does his son’s life rest on his shoulders, but the fate of a quarter billion people.

BARRIERS is a sci-fi thriller set in a dystopian future where a trillionaire tycoon decides who gets protection from the sun…and who doesn’t.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I do my best writing at 4:30 am in my boxers with a pot of coffee. Enough said!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I really like old school dystopian sci-fi:
George Orwell 1984
Brave New World
The Martian Chronicles
Anything by Ray Bradbury
Robert Heinlein

What are you working on now?
I’m writing the sequel for Barriers and plan on releasing a Barriers trilogy.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I haven’t really found one yet. If you find one, let me know! Haha

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Be ready to accept constructive criticism. It’s difficult at first, but it really helps your craft. Always let Beta-readers go through your work and offer feedback.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Do or do not, there is no try.” Yoda

What are you reading now?
Wool by Hugh Howey

What’s next for you as a writer?
Releasing the sequel for Barriers.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Old School Science Fiction
The Bible
Lord of the Rings Trilogy

Awesome Author - Carly Rheilan

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Greetings all. I’m Carly Rheilan, a British author, mother, wife, mental health nurse, youth worker, canvasser, putter out of recycling and slayer of stinging nettles.

I’ve written four books, all of them much darker than I thought when I was writing them. (I didn’t even realise I was writing “crime” – I just thought I was telling stories. Other people told me they were “crime”, albeit a bit off-genre. And everyone, everyone, told me they were terribly dark. I had not seen this. I thought they were all about redemption – in fact I know they are – but yes, they go to dark places, and always there are secrets and lies.)

Asylum is the only one I’ve published so far – tells the story of Cabdi, the survivor of a massacre, and Mustaf, a trafficked child

Later this year, I plan to publish the others.
– Cats Cradle tells the story of a relationship between a child and a paedophile
– Birthrights is a story about a childless psychiatrist seeking a fraudulent motherhood
– The Angel, written in the wake of the Shipman crimes, explores medical homicide.

I always answer emails (carlyrheilan@freepeoples.space) but I don’t like hanging out my life on the internet, so if you want to know more than this interview tells, you will have to write and ask me.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Asylum is a book about two refugees from Somalia. Long ago, a family of Somali children crossed our paths and virtually moved in with us. At the time I was much too busy trying to sort out their healthcare and birthdays and school uniforms to stand back and think about where they had come from or how they had got here. Much later, it troubled me and I started to research the history of that country. It swept me up, in horror and awe.
Asylum is also a book about the trafficking and abuse of vulnerable children. It is a book about Britain, as seen through the eyes of a man whose world is closer to the stone-age than to mine. It is a book about hope and resilience and battling on when the world has ended. It is a book about surviving. Of course, these are things I think about.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know. How would I know what’s unusual? I’m not very sociable. I don’t know any other writers.
One thing that’s important to me is to find the place in every person where they are the hero of their own life. Much of my career, both as a nurse and an academic, has involved working with people who have committed appalling crimes and done terrible things – but all of them had a narrative where they only did what they had to do, where they were somehow, however tortuously, in the right. I think that’s true of all of us. I don’t believe in villains, not really.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
George Elliot and Jane Austen – when I was writing my darkest book, the Angel, I imagined I was writing a world like theirs. William Saroyan – an almost lost and forgotten author, of profound compassion and beauty. John Grisham – I want to be able to tell stories as he does. Oliver Sacks, a neurologist who wrote about his patients with more humanity and understanding than anyone I ever read. The 2016 Labour Party Manifesto – “for the many not the few”. What’s not to like?

What are you working on now?
I’m tidying up Birthrights, which was the first book I wrote, back at the turn of the millenium. It’s strange going back to it. At the same time I’m fighting off the characters from the next book I’m writing – whose working title is Stiltskin, after RuItmpelstiltsken. It must be a terrible thing for a maiden to be locked in a room and told to spin straw into gold. We cannot blame her for the compromise she made, but still, it was a terrible compromise.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I wish I had one. If you know the secret, feel free to tell me.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
ABSOLUTELY only do it if doing it makes you feel better or live more happily with other people. Any other reason will end in disappointment.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The secret of life is compost.
No, actually I never heard anyone giving that advice. That’s the advice I give everyone else.

What are you reading now?
Ten Myths about Israel by Ilan Pappe – an Israeli political dissident who writes about Palestine.
Ghana Must Go by Taiye Salasi.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Bed.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Be off with you. Did you never do survival skills? Unless it’s the kind of desert island that includes a deserted hotel and a deserted daily buffet and an infinite supply of handcream and suncream and toilet roll, the only book I’ll want will be one with a lot of pages I can use as kindling. And the other thing.

Awesome Author - Pele Sparkle

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
There are a few books I have written , but only one so at this time has been published.
What’s So Special About Bailey Piggles? is my first. But, not my last!
Hardcover can be found on Amazon.com and Barnesandnoble.com. The ebook is available
on Appleitunes and Google ebooks.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
What’s So Special About Bailey Piggles?, was inspired by my family’s belief in angels and spirit guides. That we all can call on angelic help for anything in life. I always loved children’s
fiction, but have never really come across books in that genre that touched upon this subject. So, I decided to write one myself.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
When I write, I tend to wear a pink headscarf on my head. Pink is the color of creativity.
Also, when the weather in California allows, I like to cozy up in a fuzzy blanket on my bed to write. The more comfy I am ,the more creative I am.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Lucy Maud Montgomery ,with her Anne of Green Gables and Emily of New Moon books.
The woman painted pictures with her words and i just admire that.
I love Stephen King; his book Firestarter, has obsessed me since childhood.
Dean Koontz , Anne Rice and Charlaine Harris. What can I say, I ‘m a big horror book fan.
I do like to write about the supernatural.

What are you working on now?
Right now, I’ve finished a rough draft of another intended illustrated children’s book.
This one is sci-fi inspired. I am also working on my first YA novella. At this point all I’m really doing is writing down bits and pieces, and doing research for it.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Being a new writer, I am still learning the best method/s for promoting my book. I am always open to suggestions. Currently, my book is on Goodreads.com. There’s also a Facebook page that I’m getting ready and an author’s website I intend to get up soon.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t get rid of any of your ideas! Even if you think it’s a bad one. Get a notebook and write them all down. I have a stack of idea notebooks. All of your ideas may not get published, but
you never know which one will be a hit.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Anne Rice: On writing, my advice is the same to all. If you want to be a writer, write.
Write and write and write. If you stop, start again. Save everything that you write. If you feel
blocked, write through it until you feel your creative juices flowing again. Write.

What are you reading now?
I’m in the middle of Richard Adams, Watership Down. I first heard of it from watching the film: Donnie Darko: Director’s Cut. Sugar Cookie Murder, by Joanne Fluke, and 95% Broke,
by my friend, Sir Jr. aka Johnny Lee.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Continue perfecting my craft. I have a lot to write and much to learn. There’s always room for improvement. Some things I do is read books on how to write; grammer and punctuation, etc. The amount of how to books on writing could fill an entire library alone!
Plus, I believe gathering life experience can enrich your writing. So, I am going out there and garner up some more life experience!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Oh, man! I can only take 3 or 4? How can I get by in life with only a few books?
Well… Lord Of The Rings by Tolkien, Firestarter by Stephen King, Anne of the Island by L.M.
Montgomery and Asian Noodles by Nina Simonds. I may not have the ingredients available to make the recipes, but that won’t stop me from drooling over the pictures.

Awesome Author - Blaine Bertsch

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
This is the first book I’ve written but have many articles under my belt. I’ve been an entrepreneur for 20 years and I’m currently tackling the problem of cash flow for small businesses through our forecasting tool, Dryrun.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Pandemic Cash Flow deals with the number one killer of business, cash flow shortfalls. Simply put, cash flow issues kill nearly on third of all businesses. 70% of those businesses were profitable when they ran out of cash. In so many cases, a cash flow shortfall is predictable, manageable and avoidable, yet there is very little concrete help for business owners. Worse, business owners rarely have a finance background. In fact, one study revealed that over 80% of business owners had a basic or failing level of financial literacy.

Of course, there are articles all over the web that preach the dire nature of cash flow issues, yet at best, they tell the reader to ‘get a spreadsheet.’ No direction, nor ‘recipe,’ no help.

Pandemic Cash Flow not only dives into the issue in depth but it provides a framework processes and explanations leading to actionable results.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write in sprints but I’m not sure if that’s unusual . When I sit down to write, I work at a speed that is about as fast as I can type. First, creating an outline of the chapter and content I need to cover. Then, for at least a couple of hours, it simple flows out until I hit a wall of mental fatigue. I can’t seem to write any other way.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have a long, long list of business book I’ve read but only a few that I tend to go back to over and over again. “The Lean Startup” by Eric Ries is on that list, as is “Traction” by Gino Wickman.

What are you working on now?
Pandemic Cash Flow is so new that I’m working on promoting the book. Of course, much of my day is spent working to build Dryrun as the world’s leading cash flow forecasting tool. I’ve already got another book idea taking form in my mind, although I think it will be awhile before I dive back into writing.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
This is my first attempt so I have no experience to offer at this point in time.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Start today and schedule time to write. It’s a marathon.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Write a book.”

What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading two books by John Warrilow, “Built to Sell” and “The Automatic Customer.”

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m going to move from process and strategy to sharing the stories in the trenches of small business. Of course, the stories will have a connection to cash flow but the goal is to both let entrepreneurs know they’re not alone in their struggles, as well as ‘pulling back the curtain’ for accounting pros so that they can better understand their client’s struggles.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
“How to Build a Boat,” and “Navigation for Dummies.”

Awesome Author - James E. Mack

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am James E Mack, the author of Only the Dead and Fear of the Dark. I have a background in the military, initially as a Commando and then in Special Operations, working in over 20 different countries.

I subsequently worked as a Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency Advisor on capacity building projects throughout the world. I also helped establish Counter Wildlife Poaching programs in West Africa before turning my hand to writing.

Reading remains a passion that I have retained from childhood and I still experience the same satisfaction today as I did then, when I find a great book.

I enjoy time in the mountains and in the sea and am fortunate to live very close to both, allowing me easy access to enjoyment!

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Fear of the Dark. I live in one of the loveliest little villages on the Scottish coast with equally lovely people and I remember thinking one day about it being the perfect setting to let loose a psychopath and his cronies!

The deeper side to the narrative comes from my experiences of witnessing the traumatic effect of conflict on people and the evils of radicalisation on the young. I didn’t portray either of these in the usual manner and my readers have been very complimentary about this.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Only that I write anywhere; Planes, trains, automobiles, home, hotels, and once even in a bomb shelter!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I grew up reading the thrillers of Gerald Seymour and loved his plots and narratives. Stephen King, for me, had utterly mastered character creation and there wasn’t a single book of his where I didn’t care or relate to his main characters. I am influenced by writers who invest in the story and the characters as I think a truly good book captures both.

What are you working on now?
My third novel The Killing Agent; an international revenge-based thriller that brings the war in the Killing fields of Kandahar to the cities and towns of the UK as our Security and Intelligence agencies are pitted against their deadliest foe yet.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Currently, social media platforms provide me with the exposure but, more pertinently, the target audience where I find my readership.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep at it.
Embrace rejection because you’re going to get a lot of it unless you are one of the fortunate few! Don’t take it personally; in simple terms a book is just a product that a publisher will only invest in if they think there is good revenue to be made.
Write. As much as you can. The more you write, the better you get and the more you learn.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you don’t believe in yourself, you shouldn’t be disappointed when no-one else does either

What are you reading now?
The Woman in the Window by AJ Finn, brilliant homage to the Hitchcock noirs

Voices from the Grave by Ed Moloney, the testament of 2 terrorists, given freely before their deaths. A fascinating insight into the lives of terrorists in Northern Ireland.

What’s next for you as a writer?
More writing! Publication of The Killing Agent in near future, then the second book in a series that started with Fear of the Dark.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Descent by Jeff Long
Call of the Wild by Jack London
The Great Santini by Pat Conroy
Into Thin Air by John Krakauer

Awesome Author - Kayla Lowe

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m an editor by day and writer by night. I wrote my first book when I was 16, and so far I’ve published 3 books: 2 full-length novels and one poetry collection.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Of Love and Deception is my most recent work. It’s Book 1 in what’s probably going to be an 8-book series. It’s a contemporary Christian romance saga that pushes the boundaries of what Christian fiction is, as in there are a few touchy subjects in the books, but they’re there to highlight important issues like domestic abuse and addiction.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Sometimes I “write” by dictating to Siri. If I have a sudden inspiration for a scene, but all I have with me is my iPhone, instead of trying to type on my phone, I’ll just pull up notes, click the little voice command button and then speak my words to Siri. Later on, when I get to my computer, I transcribe it onto my computer.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Kristen Heitzmann has been one of my favorite authors since my middle school days. Her Rocky Mountain Legacy is what really got me hooked into reading and made me dream of one day becoming an author too.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on Book 2 of my Tainted Love Saga: Of Love and Family. With any luck, I’ll have it out in at least 6 months (maybe sooner). *fingers crossed*

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Fans. Fans help promote my books so much. There is nothing quite like those word-of-mouth book recommendations.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Writing is a way of life. Live it. Breathe it. Do it. Make it part of your every day life, and it’ll become second-nature to you.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these. things shall be added unto you.” – Matthew 6:33

Put God first in everything, and He’ll do amazing things.

What are you reading now?
A couple of things:

1. Beauty of the Beast by Rachel L. Demeter
2. The Seeking Heart by Francois Fenelon

What’s next for you as a writer?
I have so many ideas bouncing around in my head. The challenge is finding the time to execute them all.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
1. The Holy Bible
2. The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux
3. Phantom by Susan Kay
4. 1989 by K. L. Lowe

Awesome Author - julia caranci

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a personal trainer and writer, although this is my first published book. I have been using running and working out as powerful tools to heal my mind and body. I use exercise to fight anxiety and depression successfully and drug free. I understand how it feels to be trapped inside a mind that is sabotaging you. My goal is to help as many people as possible begin to believe in themselves so that they can reach their fitness and other personal goals.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The 30-Day Cast-Away Program – I was inspired to write this by watching so many women with immense potential derail themselves from their fitness and life goals through second guessing, limiting beliefs and fear of failure. My book offers free methods of meditation, visualization and other mental tips and tricks to help people believe in themselves, then take the physical action they need to in order to smash their goals!

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write very much in an engaging and conversational tone, which I believe draws people in and helps them understand my message.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love Tony Robbins and other similar writers, those who try to inspire and lift up others.

What are you working on now?
I am working on the sequel to this book -the top 50 fitness habits that you can learn and use to achieve success.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I mainly promote the book via my youtube channel and FB page.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Try not to get discouraged. It takes months and months to go through this process, then to see success. Don’t give up.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t be afraid to fail. The most successful people in the world all failed miserably multiple times before they achieved success. Failure is good.

What are you reading now?
I am reading THE WINTER PALACE – it’s excellent. I love historical fiction.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Building up my channel and selling my book, writing my second book, and looking for other niches to fill in the fitness world.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
probably a huge dictionary so I could learn more words, the bible, Charles Bukowski’s Ham on Rye, and The Other Boleyn Girl by Phillipa Greggory.
