Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi!
My name is Carie Toeller, and First Corpse The Appetizer is my first novel. However, I wrote the novel about 5,641 times before it was finally released for publication. Now that I’m a little better at it, I’m on to writing book 2 in the series, Second Corpse The Soup.
I live in Northern California, blessed to be surrounded by lots of close family and friends. But still too far from the beach. I love writing and fooding (my term for anything related to food; such as eating, cooking, savoring the aroma, creating, dining out, grocery shopping, etc.) I also love gardening, making my own kombucha and reading.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
As I mentioned earlier, the name of my latest and first, but not my last book is First Corpse The Appetizer. It’s a romantic suspense novel with a splash of humor and a culinary twist.
I think I was first inspired to turn my writing into a novel by the work of Janet Evanovich. It is difficult to find books that keep you glued to the edge of your seat while also making you laugh out loud.
My work pales in comparison to Ms. Evanovich, but my hope is that it has the same effect: a laugh out loud, give you romantic tingles, keep you on the edge of your seat kind of effect. A place where female readers who enjoy good food, good wine, the occasional appropriately placed f-bomb, mega-quantities of chocolate, and heart-stopping kissing scenes can escape to whenever they want.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
In the truest spirit of my main character, I prefer to write with a large glass of wine (Chardonnay or Rose in the Summer, Merlot or Pinot in the Winter) and a really good quality hunk of chocolate. It’s possible the wine contributed to all of those rewrites.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The esteemed Janet Evanovich, of course. I also love Kyra Davis. Stephanie Bond is great. The writer known only as Richard Castle. Tess Gerritson. Are you sensing theme? I do occasionally read the more serious novel. But the older I get the more I realize that life is too short not to laugh out loud every 20 minutes or so.
What are you working on now?
I am furiously working on the planning, the scoping out, the figuring, the flushing out of the conceptual overview for book 2. Okay, no I haven’t started it yet. (Don’t tell anyone) But I’m preparing to start. Book 1 just launched! I think we should cut me some slack.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
So far, word of mouth. I am very fortunate to have a huge network of family and friends that impatiently supported my lengthy journey to this point. And by support I mean “So, when is your book going to be done?” Fair question. And now it is! Even better, it’s published!! My support system has been waiting for so long that it was like an explosion of book sharing hit the world wide web when it came out. It nearly brought me to tears. I am so grateful to have them.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Learn from my mistakes – understand the requirements first:
Know your genre
Know your target market
Learn the expected structure and unique requirements for your genre/market (like out of this universe world building for Sci Fi, or the HEA for romance)
Correct story structure and other assorted rules do apply!! Learn them, know them, love them, write to them so that you don’t have to rewrite 5000+ times.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
It only takes a second to cross the finish line. Don’t forget to relish the journey.
What are you reading now?
In a Dark, Dark Wood, by Ruth Ware. Actually, I’m listening. I can never resist a good British narration. It’s got just a touch of humor, so not my normal fare, but this author is great at building suspense. Read and learn. Eat chocolate. Read and learn. Drink wine.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Book 2! Second Corpse The Soup. Okay, a little spoiler that you will only understand if you’ve read book 1.
Join Layne as she drags Maggie through the sweltering Arizona summer heat in search of killer clam chowder (and Ryan).
(Alright, you caught me. I may have written a few chapters, but I swear I am going to outline this time so as to avoid the 5000+ rewrites)
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell, Creating a Life You Love by Victoria Moran, Whichever Stephanie Plum novel by Janet Evanovich happens to be out. (And I’d need Amazon Prime)

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am 25 and love dark fiction. I’ve been writing since I was young, but I could never finish a book because something was missing. I love YA, don’t get me wrong. But there aren’t a lot of YA books with lesbian main characters, so I wrote my own. The Wrath of the Chosen is my only published book so far, but I plan on having many more where that came from.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Wrath of the Chosen. I was on Pinterest and found a writing prompt. Granted, it looks nothing like what I ended up writing, but it started my imagination. It was something about a dad and his son going to rescue their assassin mom something something something. I just took “assassin” and ‘badass female’ and ran with it.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have 3 different places I put information for my writing. A dry erase board, a story board, and a notebook. They are always where I can see them as I type. Not necessarily weird. It’s a bit excessive.
I also like to draw how I see my characters in my head. I draw their outfits too. Visual aid and all.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Sarah J. Maas 100%. I love how she writes real characters with flaws and makes you obsessed with the story. I also really appreciate the diversity.
Seriously, she’s my fav person.
What are you working on now?
The second book in my Chosen series and a YA fantasy book centered on the Fae. I’m still working through the first draft on the Fae one though. I think it’s cool, but I’m biased.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Currently I’m using Goodreads and my Twitter. So lol nothing too fancy right now.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t throw it away.
There are so many days I just wanted to toss my book in the trash because I didn’t think people would like it. But I decided I’m not writing it for others. I’m writing what I want to see in a book. I’m writing for myself.
Write for you. If people don’t like or believe in it, oh well. YOU do. That’s what really matters.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Writing advice: rewrite your story even if you don’t want to. I catch so many mistakes and find things I want to change when I write my story over again.
Life advice: It doesn’t matter what people think of you. You can’t pay your bills with their opinions.
What are you reading now?
WELL. A lot of things. “Goodbye Days” by Jeff Zentmer is my focus at the moment. I’m also rereading Sarah J. Maas’s A Court of Thorns and Roses series because I’m obsessed.
On my to-read list (meaning I own them but haven’t read them yet), I have “The Valiant” by Lesley Livingston, “They Both Die at the End” by Adam Silvera, “Hate List” by Jennifer Brown, “Aristotle and Dante Discover the Universe” by Benjamin Saenz, and “Caraval” by Stephanie Garber.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Keep writing. I have tons of ideas for books that are just waiting to be written. Like a pinterest board full.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I’m going to consider a series 1 book because lol 3 or 4, that’s funny.
1. A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas
2. The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas
3. Daughters of the Moon series by Lynne Ewing
4. Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul on Tough Stuff. Yes, I am aware I am no longer a teenager, nor am I particularly religious, but this book got me through some hard stuff when I was younger.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have three novellas and a short published, and many more completed, and just waiting for an editor to polish them and help make them shine.
The Life Trilogy, my debut foray into publishing consists of Life Lost, Love Gained, Life Goes On and Life Complete.
Life Lost is probably my favorite out of the series, because it focuses a lot on a condition that is near and dear to my heart, and that condition is Cystic Fibrosis.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The book I am working on now is untitled, but like most of my works, it was inspired by events that came to me in a dream. Yep, I’m one of those weirdos who remember a lot of my dreams, which is problematic when the dream isn’t a nice one.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I love watching TV while I write. My husband is amazed that it doesn’t distract me, or bleed into my writing, but in reality, it keeps the world at bay, and keeps me focused on what I am doing.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love Nora Roberts, and JD Robb; man, I wish I could write like her!
What are you working on now?
I have a few books in the works, none have titles yet. I write until I lose focus, and then work on whatever comes to me. I bounce back and forth a lot.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Right now, I use facebook and twitter. I’m hoping to expand on that.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Get a good editor, and find a circle who will support you.
What are you reading now?
I’m reading the Dirty Ranger Anthology, which was recently put out by my Glitter Sisters at Creative Central! I’m so proud of them!
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m going to keep writing.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Anything by Nora Roberts/JD Robb.
Leon Uris’ Exodus.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
So, I’ve been telling stories for as long as I can remember and writing them since I learnt how to spell. Well… maybe even before I learnt how to spell since it’s debatable whether or not I ever did. I’m Plymouthian (England) born and bred, although I did go to uni in Winchester, studied Creative Writing and Drama, graduating with a 2:1 in 2008. Geez, that feels like a lifetime ago.
I’m not ashamed to say I work for McDonald’s, and have done for the last 8 years. It’s not a bad job and they’ve been really good and understanding with the ongoing issues I’ve had with my health.
In my free time I run my own YouTube channel and play with my adorable pet Gerbils, Mew and Celibi (because who wouldn’t?).
As for how many books I’ve written… hard to say. Since I started uni I’ve written on a daily basis. To begin with, it was a chapter per project I was writing on a day, so, for a few years, I got through a LOT of stories. Now I’m a little more relaxed with how much I write each day, so the rate at which I complete something has slowed down a lot. Which is probably a good thing, since I’ve barely published anything so far, and any more of a backlog and I wouldn’t know where to begin with it all lol.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Okay, there are two answers I can give to this question. The first is the book I published last year, since, of the time I’m answering this, that was my last book released. But since I’m also planning to release another before the end of August (fingers crossed) I guess I should mention that one too.
Let’s start with the one I’ve already released. Echoe. It was inspired by a close friend of mine, who challenged me to write a fantasy story with a disabled, single mother with telekinesis as the main character. She herself lives with disabilities and wanted a heroine she could feel inspired by. I think I more than met her expectations there. Well, I at least know she loves it and that’s enough for me.
As for the one I’m about to release. Hyena Boy. I don’t know if I can pinpoint down exactly what inspired it, other than the main character himself. I know that’s a weird answer, but Jay’s a character who just kind of appeared to me one day when I was a teenager. A few years after that I started work on Hyena Boy, his story. Since then he’s always been around and I’ve come back to Hyena Boy time and time again, improving it, getting it ready for when it would finally be released. To me at this point, Jay is more than just a character, he’s one of my closest friends, so maybe it’s weird to say he inspired his own story, but I don’t know how else to describe it at this point.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I guess my most unusual writing habit would be acting out or, at the very least, speaking through character moments/interactions/movements. Sometimes moving through the scene yourself gives you a better understanding of what’s going on. A few times it even changes your perspective of the whole scene.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I think the thing which had the biggest impact/influence on me as a writer has been mangas (Japanese comics). Even though I don’t use pictures in my own book, I have been told more than once that my writing has a ‘manga’ feel to it, although I’m not totally sure what that means lol.
What are you working on now?
Right now, alongside editing Hyena Boy (totally needed to name drop that more than once), I’m working on… what’s starting to become… an epic fantasy. I’m currently writing it as a single novel broken into parts, but I might change that later. It’s kind of a rewriting of a small fantasy series I started in my early teens, although the characters and plotline have been greatly improved (thank goodness).
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I still haven’t found a formula that works for me yet. So I’m in the process of experimenting with as many things possible. Because if you don’t try, you don’t succeed.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Remember, you are your own first reader, if you enjoy your work then others will too.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write about things you’re afraid of. When it was said to me it was meant more literally, but I’ve taken it to mean, write things that have an impact on you. If you can read the same chapter 15 times and still gives you the same feels you got the first time you wrote it, then you must be doing something right.
What are you reading now?
I’m currently listening to The Silver Eyes by Scott Cawthon and Kira Breed-Wrisley on Audible. I’ve read my ebook version more than once too.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Next for me as a writer is to finish editing and finally release Hyena Boy (yay three name drops).
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The One Hundred and One Dalmatians by Dodie Smith, Watership Down by Richard Adams, Old Bear Stories by Jane Hissey, one of the FNAF books by Scott Cawthon and Kira Breed-Wrisley (probably the first).

Listed in Marquis Who’s Who in America, Arts & Literature, 2005-2010 on the strength of one book, ODE TO MADONNA and Other Poems,1991, and minor work in the Arts. As reference; Jimmy Kimmel nor Sarah Silverman are listed. Reason met enlightenment as an atheist turns to spirituality resulting in two books.
Studying creative writing, newsgathering, acting, and philosophy at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, the once reluctant poet Alan Paine went on to produce for the stage, radio, and cable TV working in the arts now for over 40 years.
After writing poems that earned publication and several awards in 1990, he published his first collection of poetry; “ODE TO MADONNA and Other Poems.” The Marquis came calling in 2005 and spiritual enlightenment came once again in 2013.
Along with evolutionary revelations herein inspired by the divine feminine, a second collection of poetry completes the destruction of a decaying paradigm; “Crumbling Sandcastle Designs; Return of the Goddess.”
Now on a spiritual journey through the heart of humanity, it appears destiny taps a once reluctant poet and atheist to bring objectivists into spirituality and perhaps beyond.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hello! I am a director of an early childhood center by day and a children’s literature author by night. I have a very supportive family that consists of my husband and two children. Writing has been a hobby of mine from a young age, but recently I decided to go forward and share my work with the world. As of right now, I have published one book, Jasper the Bold(ish), however, I have written several and plan to publish them in the near future so keep an eye out for them!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My most recent story, Jasper the Bold(ish), was inspired by my own childhood fears. Some were so silly to others so it inspired me to write a story about it! I also love humor so of course I had to add that in. I feel that when parents read to children they want to enjoy the story too. I strive to write tales that both parents and children will equally enjoy.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I do not think I have any unusual writing habits.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Dr. Seuss. I love his work and the skill he had of writing books in rhyme that told stories in such a wonderful fashion. He was truly a talented man.
What are you working on now?
I just finished writing a story that teaches children a lesson in self love. I’ll begin editing and tweaking it soon enough.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am very active on Facebook with my author page. I like to interact with my fans there and share updates as well.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never give up! It’s a long, trying journey and many people may think your dreams are too big. There is never a dream too big, only small minds that cannot see the bigger picture.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I ever heard was not to avoid going forward with something because of the time it will take to happen, because that time will pass anyway. That really opened my eyes and pushed me forward to publish my book.
What’s next for you as a writer?
More stories to come! Writing is something I will never stop doing. I’ve heard, “do something you love and you will never have to work a day in your life”. I do work a normal day job, but writing will never feel like a “job” to me.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Larry Vaughn and I’m a Vietnam veteran. I thought I was one of the lucky ones who got away scot-free. But apparently, nobody who goes to war ever gets away scot-free. I didn’t know there was anything wrong with me. But the people around me did. I was irritable and short-tempered most of the time. And I was always mad about something. In 1998, I reached the point where I couldn’t control my emotions. My Doctors told me that I had PTSD. They took me off work and I never went back to my job as a Letter Carrier. I applied for a medical retirement. But the Postal Service took over a year to process it. And during that year, my wife and I had no income. This was rock bottom for me. I was old and broke and too sick to work. And I didn’t know if I would ever be able to work again. So I cried out to God in desperation and asked him to help me. And I started spending hours each day studying the Bible. I didn’t know what I was doing at the time. But I was fellowshipping with God in his word. And while I was getting to know him, he was teaching me things that I needed to know. One of these things was how to cope with PTSD. I was mining the Bible for life-lessons from God. And when I saw a Bible verse that jumped out at me, I copied it down. I believe that the verses I’ve collected are the most interesting and informative verses in the Bible. I’m excited about the things that I’ve learned from them. I want to share them with everyone. And that’s why I wrote my two Bible-study books.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is a Crash Course in the Bible. It’s a summary of the Bible’s most important teachings. I wanted to make Bible truths easy to access and easy to understand.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to wake in the middle of the night, at 3 or 4 AM, to write.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Hal Lindsey’s book, the Late Great Planet Earth, convinced me that the Bible is true. I wanted to be like him and write about the Bible too. I wanted to write a book that would teach new Christians everything that they needed to know.
What are you working on now?
I’m finishing my first novel.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
The paperback version of A Crash Course in the Bible is available on Amazon.com. The eBook is available on Kindle. And the audiobook will soon be available on Audible.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes. The most important thing to do is to get the whole thing written. And not worry about how bad it is. You’re going to go back and rewrite it anyway. Writing is rewriting.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Ernest Hemingway’s observation that experience is communicated through small details.
What are you reading now?
I like reading books by Michael Connelly.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’ve always wanted to be a novelist and now that dream is about to come true.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, The Bible Believer’s Handbook and Bartlett’s Familiar quotations.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Northern Knights is my first published work and it’s also the first episode in the Lord of Columbia series. I have two more completed books, which are the second and third episodes in the series to be released within the coming months.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Northern Knights was inspired by the History Channel’s miniseries, Sons of Liberty. On July 4th, 2015, while watching the flick I thought I could make a story of a modern-day Revolutionary War, but with influences from J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter, George Lucas’ Star Wars, and Avatar: The Last Airbender. Thus, Northern Knights was born.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m the ultimate outliner wannabe, but somewhere in the middle of every first draft I tend to ‘find’ my characters in different situations and deviate from my outline.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Harry Potter by far, C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia, Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell, just to name a few.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on Book Two in the Lord of Columbia Series. As stated, it’s almost finished and I’m just tying a few loose ends. Also, Book Three is also finished and will be polished once Book Two is released.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I try to reach out to as many as possible and take the ones which have had the best reviews.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes! I always state writing is a passion that’s been influenced by another passion. With that being said, remember why you started, and what influenced you to embark on your writing journey.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Put your characters into terrible trouble and write to find out what happens. If you feel you’re writing into a corner, inject as much conflict as you can.
What are you reading now?
I habitually read the Chronicles of Narnia, but I also love books by Ron Paul. I view him as a modern-day Founding Father and no one knows liberty like he does.
What’s next for you as a writer?
To continue to promote the message in Lord of Columbia, which is to let individual liberty, and the Constitutional Law of the Land live.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Magician’s Nephew, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Liberty Defined, and Wealth of Nations.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
The name of my debut book is, “The Fairy Squad Princesses: A Magical Awakening” (Volume 1 of 5). The series was inspired by shows like Sailor Moon, and Winx Club. It’s filled with fairies, witches, heroes, warlocks, magic, mystery, epic battles, and humor. The book is available on Amazon worldwide for paperback & kindle (only in English), and the paperback is available on the Barnes & Noble website.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my debut book is, “The Fairy Squad Princesses: A Magical Awakening” (Volume 1 of 5). The series was inspired by shows like Sailor Moon, Winx Club, and other magical girl cartoons/anime.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
It’s not unusual to me but I find it best for me to work on several books at one time instead of stressing over trying to complete one. Sometimes my brain needs to rest in order for an idea to pop up to add to a book.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Animators like the dearly departed Walt Disney, Naoko Takeuchi the creator of Sailor Moon, and Iginio Straffi the creator Winx Club had a big influence of why I wanted to become a writer. Meanwhile, the author Lisi Harrison who wrote several books including Monster High has also helped influence me to write this book series.
What are you working on now?
Besides promoting “The Fairy Squad Princesses” book one I am working on finishing my other books. The next book that will be released after the entire series of, “The F.S.P.’s” is out will be “Stella Sinclair: Witch in Training”
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
So far Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Wattpad have helped me promote my book. On Instagram I have created the hashtag #TheFairySquadPrincesses, so people can see how I envisioned the characters. My other artwork can be found on @art_by_marcus_moutra on Instagram.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice would be to never give up! I know it sounds cliché, but it’s the truth. Most of the time the only person stopping yourself for achieving your goal is yourself. You can do anything you put your mind to and don’t try to rush finish your story. You’d rather have a story that readers can tell you spent time on VS one that was blown through with a bunch of errors.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
You may not be where you want to be in life, but you’re where you need to be for the moment. Life doesn’t come with a blueprint.
What are you reading now?
I’ve been reading several free books on Wattpad.com and their too many to name. However, I’d recommend people to follow @HaidyOwnWorld and @adenisetumblin.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Besides promoting book one I am focused on getting book two of “The Fairy Squad Princesses” ready to be released next summer. Also, I’m continuing my education to learn how to develop my drawing skills at California State University Long Beach this month on August 27th.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible even though that’s technically about 66 books lol and that’s it. I would be too busy praying to get off the island to read anymore books.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Needing to find something to do with my time when my kids took off for college, I bought a Kindle and never looked back. Reading became my passion, which turned into wanting to try my hand at writing a book after being challenged by my husband. I wrote my first book in 2014 and have written 5 books and one novella since then.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Hidden in a Small Town is my latest book. All of my prior books have been contemporary romances – most coming of age. I was in the mood to try something different so I tried my hand at a suspense, sprinkled with a bit of paranormal and romance.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m a slow writer – I admit it. I will write like gangbusters for a while and then I may set it aside for a month. It all depends on how the story flows and if I know where I’m going. Also, I don’t use an outline of any kind. I normally have a beginning, middle, and end and fill in as the story dictates. Lots of times, this will change but mostly the path I take comes to me as I write.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Colleen Hoover, Tammara Webber, and Jamie McGuire were authors I read early on, changing the myth of how stale romances could be sometimes. But when I read The Opportunist by Tarryn Fisher, it changed everything. It made me realize that I crave the real, raw grit of characters. The more flawed they are, the more I love them. I adore everything Tarryn writes – her mind fascinates me.
What are you working on now?
I am back to writing contemporary romance about a woman who has an emotional affair with a young man nearly fifteen years her junior who helps her come to terms with the current state of her marriage.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’ll let you know when I figure that out. lol Promoting in this business is frustrating. Facebook and Instagram are my go-to’s.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up and keep writing. It’s very easy to feel like you’re beating your head against a brick wall when it comes to finding an audience for your books. You can’t dwell. You must move on and write your next book. And then your next.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t compare yourself to other authors – old or new. And keep writing book after book. The more you write, the better you become. I believe this to be true.
What are you reading now?
I am reading The Hawks by SD Hendrickson.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Possibly attending my first signing – I’ve never done one before. And…keep writing.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
All three books from the Love You With Lies series (The Opportunist, Dirty Red, and Theif) and F*ck Love – all by Tarryn Fisher.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Over the years, I’ve been an itinerant radio and TV personality and an advertising copywriter. I’m a graduate of Lamar University in Texas, and I have an MS in mass communications from the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. My books include Back Home Blues, The Morning Man, The Great Pretender: Confessions of a Semi-Incorrigible Southern Catholic Boy, AA in SA: A History of Alcoholics Anonymous in San Antonio and The Healing Power of Connection. He lives in San Antonio.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
I just finished Back Home Blues, a kind of coming-of-age novel about a young man coming home after several years and trying to find himself. It’s a sequel to The Great Pretender, a book that gave me a lot of joy to write.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really. I just try to sit down every day and write for at least a couple of hours. I’m a slave to my habits, so I’m grateful I have a few good ones.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
More than I can count. Richard Ford, Philip Roth, Ian McEwan, Anne Tyler come to mind.
What are you working on now?
I’ve never written a novel with a woman’s POV, and I’m toying with that notion.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I wish I were better at marketing my books. That’s something I should ask you!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just write, come hell or high water.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Just write, come hell or high water
What are you reading now?
My Name is Lucy Barton by Elizabeth Strout.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Another novel, I’m sure. But right now I’m concentrating on promoting Back Home Blues.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Jessica Biel, Scarlett Johanssen…oh wait, you said books!

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a wife and mom to two adult children. When my kids left for college, I purchased a Kindle and never looked back. Reading, once again, became my passion. I decided to dust off my writing skills from school and I wrote my first book in 2014. Since then, I have written 4 more books and one novella.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Finding Karma is about a young girl who feels lost in her boyfriend’s shadow, not really knowing what to do with her life after high school. My daughter inspired this story – I didn’t like how she was turning into someone just for her boyfriend’s sake. This is a story that highlights how the girl doesn’t follow the boy, putting herself first, even though the stakes may be high. Moral of the story? It all works out in the end. And my daughter came to her senses and she is a forceful young woman now.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t write with an outline like most writers do. I have a beginning, a middle, and an end in mind and I let the characters dictate the story as I go. Sometimes it changes direction and that’s okay.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Tarryn Fisher’s words have a way of grabbing you and wringing you out until you can hardly stand it. Her characters are the most real, flawed, gritty people I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Her mind fascinates me.
What are you working on now?
I am working on a story about a married woman who has an emotional affair with a young man 15 yrs. her junior who unknowingly shows her just what she’s been missing in her marriage for years.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
In a sea of ever-growing book releases, promoting proves frustrating. But I find Facebook and Instagram to be helpful.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t compare yourself to anyone. You need to find your own voice and your own writing style.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
It’s easy to get caught up in when you might get noticed – when a book might take off. The best advice that I’ve received time and time again is to keep looking forward. Write your next book. And then the next one. Just always keep writing.
What are you reading now?
The Hawks by SD Hendrickson
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m hoping to do my first signing in 2019. That would be a big step for me. And, of course, I’m going to keep writing.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Tarryn Fisher’s Love Me With Lies Series (The Opportunist, Dirty Red, and Thief) and F*ck Love, also by Tarryn Fisher.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Our latest book is Sheriff Carter Link: Vanished. It was inspired mostly by mot love of country music and old school tough guys played by Clint Eastwood, Sam Elliot & Timothy Olyphant.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I wouldn’t call it unusual. A story idea can come from anyway. I write it down when it comes to me then I could spend days, months or years thinking about it. Once the outline to fleshed out, I start writing.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I am a comic book, superhero kind of guy so Stan Lee is on the top of my list.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
We have been using Amazon, Facebook, Goodreads & Awesome Gang.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up. Hang in there and believe in your work.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I don’t remember where I heard it but it goes something like this “Make your dream obtainable to you.” Meaning, don’t dream to be something that you don’t have the ability to be. If you can’t sing, don’t dream of being a Rock Star.
What are you reading now?
Our stuff mostly. I have a lot on my plate.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Right now we have two novels and three children’s book to finish up, so that will be my life for the next few months.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
This is my first book endeavor. I was inspired to write the book as growing up, I didn’t have many people that looked like me and was still very accepted. I want kids to have characters they can relate to and learn from.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
I Like French Fries Too! This book targets kids from ages 3-6. It was inspired to allow little ones to understand and respect differences. The characters are will bring that to life. They all share food and understand about different ethnicities. Simple learning about other countries and cultures. We all share food, we all share similarities, and we all share stories. This book should bring us together as we all have something in common.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
None that I am aware of.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have been influenced by a variety of experiences and readings. Sometimes, we have to try and find our own path.
What are you working on now?
I am working on a follow-up book with same characters to teach simple conversation.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am still learning the process, but have contacted everyone I know. I am currently my best promoter.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I am still learning, but as with anything in life I say we are all continuously improving.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
So many things keep me going, but seeing others take on tackle endeavors gives me the courage to fail forward.
What are you reading now?
The story of Malala and Bossypants.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I am not sure if I can answer that question as I wasn’t even knowing I would take this endeavor.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
1. A book about disruptors.
2. A book about positive thinking.
3. A book about a world leader.

The latest book in the series, Deceptions and Lies will be release 8/19/2018. It was inspired by revealing more of the main character’s genetic makeup.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Not particularly. I try to write every day, but it’s tough when I have other obligations.
What are you working on now?
The fifth book in the series, entitled The Flea Market, and the sixth book, entitled Full Circle. I’m also working on a prequel to the series about a younger Mark Praed.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write, write, write.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
See above.
What are you reading now?
I’ve been reading some old Peter Wimsey mysteries written by Dorothy Sayers.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I have a notebook full of ideas; it’s just a question of finding something the really inspires me to tell the story.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
My favorite author to re-read is Dorothy Dunnett–her historical fiction novels are the best–I’d need to bring my Kindle so I can have all 15 of those plus the 7 mysteries she’s written. Truly, she’s the best, and most challenging author I’ve ever read.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a lawyer, professional ballroom dancer, and leadership and career development consultant. I have worked as a trial lawyer in both large and small law firms, and still serve as the managing partner of the immigration firm I own with my husband, Ray. As much as I like being able to help people, I have never loved practicing law. I was always a lot more interested in developing new talent, and helping other people show up and be powerful in intimidating situations.
About five years ago, I started a program for girls in elementary school through high school called Project BE Confident. The plan was just to give them some tools to confidently stand up for themselves and each other under pressure. I have a daughter and I know firsthand the challenges of these years. Kids can be so freaking mean! It turned into so much more, though.
Around the same time, I was interviewing graduating law students who were applying for a job with our firm. It was really frustrating; people who looked so promising on paper were showing up totally unable to sell their strengths. I had been seeing the same exact thing happen through the entire course of my career.
Awesome people were missing great opportunities because of the way they showed up in high pressure situations. It was maddening.

It became my mission to help the girls learn how to identify their strengths, to talk about and embrace what makes them unique, and to support each other in their accomplishments. I developed programs and workshops to help them embody authentic confidence. Hundreds and hundreds of girls attended- and it was life changing, for them and me.
I began working with rising professionals to help them identify and talk about their unique strengths, to understand what inspires them and how to connect that with the work they hope to do in high pressure settings. I served as the Director of Leadership and Professional Development at Washington University Law School, where I developed programs to address the skills schools simply don’t teach effectively. The people I worked with started getting incredible jobs. More importantly, they understood what inspired them, and how to get work that would be impactful and meaningful to them long term.
I decided to start writing to share what I know works. I feel like there is a lot of “general” information out there about what you should be doing- but it isn’t really helpful unless you also know how to make it happen. My goal is to be direct, concise, and to give people actual tools they can immediately apply to make a difference. I am also about being real. I am not afraid to share the truth about the challenges I’ve faced along the way. So far, I’ve written two books: “How to BE Really Impressive” and “Mastering Your Professional Pitch.”
In my spare time (ha!) I love to dance. I am a professional Latin dancer and still compete with my partner. I teach my own brand of dance fitness called Enerjiq- which is pretty much a non-stop dance party where people burn a gazillion calories.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is “How to Be Really Impressive,” which is the first in a Professional Development series I am releasing. I chose this topic because it provides quick, key points to help people make a great first impression. Some of the points are obvious- others are not. Later books will go into a lot more detail about the content of interviews, networking events and other professional interaction but this felt like the right place to start for people who want to know what they can do right now if they have an important interview or meeting, say, tomorrow.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I am pretty low maintenance – I just need coffee and quiet to write. Once my kids are awake it is game over. Fortunately they are teenagers and sleep endlessly…..
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Simon Sinek has influenced the way I think about inspiration and alignment tremendously. Amy Cuddy has also influenced me a great deal. As a dancer, I have long known how powerfully our bodies can be used to convey presence and confidence. Her power posing research put it in terms everyone could understand, and build upon.
What are you working on now?
I am working on a book that I am SO excited about. It has been in the works for several years, and will provide readers with inside scoop into what matters most during the hiring process, and a deep dive into how to truly land a job you love. It is filled with true stories, examples, and actual steps to easily apply what works.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
So far, social media posts and emailing my list have been my “go to” methods for letting people know about my books. I am definitely exploring other ways to get in front of my ideal readers, and have heard that Awesome Gang has fabulous readers!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
As a new author myself, I don’t have much experience to draw from. The one thing I do know is that if you have something to share, don’t let anything get in the way. Share it. Write it. Say it. The world needs your unique brand of brilliance and no one will say it the way you do.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Wow- this is a great question. I think the best advice I’ve been given is that if I want to succeed big, I have to be willing to fail big. Failing isn’t the worst thing- refusing to try is.
What are you reading now?
Ha! I am reading “The Cuban Affair,” which I just picked up at an airport while traveling across the country with my daughter. I am also reading “The 5 Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace.”
What’s next for you as a writer?
I am going to finish up my “master” book, which has a working title of “Extraordinary Success: How to Land a Job You Love.” In the meantime I will continue releasing volumes in the Professional Development Series: “Mastering Your Professional Pitch” just went live on Amazon, itunes, Kobo, and Barnes & Noble (although people can get it for free by joining my mailing list at http://kimbolourtchi.com/books/. Next will be “Networking without Dread” or “Maximizing Informational Interviews. I’m open to suggestions also!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I think I would take “To Kill a Mockingbird,” and then whatever the new release was by David Baldacci, James Patterson, and Jonathan Kellerman. Of course this means I am trusting that I would only be stranded for a few days….

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
For my day job I am a computer programmer. I have self published one Children’s book.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my book is: The Case of the Missing Poodle, a Detective Ducky Story. When my son’s were younger I used to tell them bedtime stories. We have a stuff animal duck named Ducky. So my boys would always ask me to tell them a Ducky story. So I would make up different funny stories. One night a hat was put on Ducky’s head and they asked me to tell them a Detective Ducky story. This book is based off one of those stories I told them so many years ago.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really. I write when I feel inspired.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have really been enjoying John Flanagan lately. I really like the way he writes.
What are you working on now?
I write a few technical articles each month. I have some ideas for additional Detective Ducky stories. I also have a few ideas for some novels. I guess we will see where my inspiration leads.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Still working on this. I will let you now once I figure it out.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write, write and write some more. It does seem you really do get better with practice.
Read good authors that you enjoy their style. There is nothing like enjoying a good book.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I guess I haven’t heard it yet.
What are you reading now?
I am going to re-read The Tournament at Gorlan.
What’s next for you as a writer?
If I can find the time and the motivation, I am considering writing a longer book. It is amazing how hard it was to write a short children’s book. I guess for a longer book I probably need a good editor.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Bible,
Ranger’s apprentice: The emperor of Nihon-ja

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a UK-based Fantasy writer. My first book was published in 2013, and I now have 8 books and counting.
They are all Fantasy, with one series aimed at adults, and two at young adults. Most of my stories are Urban Fantasy, but I do have one series of High Fantasy, too.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My newest book is the long-awaited sequel of Winter Trials (Northern Witch #1).
Awaken (Northern Witch #2) follows Mark, as he tries to negotiate school, magic, and a new boyfriend who just so happens to be possessed by a demon.
The original story was inspired by a collaboration with some other YA authors (Echoes of Winter), where we had to provide a winter-themed short story. I decided early on that I would write what I know – a mix of Christmas and witches in Yorkshire!
Awaken continues the tradition of embracing a story set in our fantastic countryside, with emphasis on family, friends, and a little bit of magic!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I do have a habit of staring into space, while I try and work out the best order to put words in. Which is almost as embarrassing as when my partner caught me making faces, as certain dialogues played in my head.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
As a kid, some of my favourite books were the Narnia Chronicles and Silver Brumby Stories. They cemented my love for Fantasy, and not necessarily having to have humans in charge.
Later on, I loved Teresa Tomlinson’s books, which give a great twist on history, taking something you think you know, and making it fresh and new.
And of course, JK Rowling – need I say any more.
What are you working on now?
After finishing Awaken, I am taking at least a month off from writing, to catch up with everything else I have neglected.
After that, I will be working on a Witch-Hunter prequel (Sophie’s story); and will start planning the next Northern Witch book.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I would say that you want to establish a newsletter, so the people that really want to hear from you are the first to find out about deals or news on your books. I’ve previously used both Mailchimp and Mailerlite, and they both do a great job.
The best website would be Goodreads. It is still the place for authors, readers, bloggers etc to log what they are reading.
I am a reviewer, as well as an author; and as a reviewer – if a book/author is not on Goodreads, I do jump to the assumption that they are not professional.
Goodreads is free to join, and is an invaluable part of your author platform. Join it.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Join writing groups.
Other authors are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. In this industry, it’s lovely that authors see each other as colleagues – not competition.
They are always willing to chat and offer advice, share what has and hasn’t worked for them.
If you join a writing group, you are sure to find people that have had the same problems you have, whether it’s to do with writing, editing, marketing, cover design etc.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Life would be dull if it were easy.
What are you reading now?
I am currently reader Wilmar Luna’s ‘The Silver Ninja’. I’ve really been looking forward to this, after following the writers journey over the years.
I’d definitely recommend it for anyone who like a book that promotes superheroes and strong female characters.
What’s next for you as a writer?
As I said before, I’m off for a break from writing and a recharge. But I will still be attending a couple of events this year.
The next one will be the Morley Lit Fest in September, which is always a lot of fun!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Only 3 or 4 books?
3 or 4 bookshelves, please.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My latest book, A Night at the Zoo is the fifth book I’ve written. This is the second children’s book with Zoey Jane Zollywhopper as the main character. Zoey is a fun, curious and adventurous girl and I’d like to think she’s a little bit like me.
I have a degree in Illustration from the Academy of Art Institute, and I have studied creative writing through Longbridge Writers Institute.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
A Night at the Zoo is a result of fond memories of the St. Louis Zoo when I was a child. I loved seeing the animals and was curious about them. I wondered what the Zoo was like at night and this grew into an adventure tale that the main character Zoey embarks on.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write, edit, write, edit, polish, polish, and publish with hopeful trepidation.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have read so many books to my children and grandchildren, and have enjoyed all of them. My youngest son especially enjoyed Curious George, but I have always enjoyed Shel Silverstein’s children’s books.
What are you working on now?
I will be starting on another book with Zoey Jane Zollywhopper as the main character. I’m tossing around some ideas about; the funny neighbors, or the country relatives.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I don’t know yet. I’m open to suggestions.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
My best advice is to take some writing courses, and listen to your instructor’s critiques.
Writing regularly will improve your writing. If you have a desire in your heart to write then you should write.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be Persistent
What are you reading now?
I am reading the Bible.
What’s next for you as a writer?

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a creativity lover, I’ve always loved all things art. It started in high school with art and photography and drama, and grew from there into a love of writing. Writing was the easiest way to express what I thought and felt strongly about without, you know, talking.
I’ve only published one book, but there are three additional books (from 42,000 words to 70,000 words) that are in various editing stages right now. I hope to publish them all within the next year.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
What Lies in a Dream, came, literally, from a dream. I woke up, at 3:08 am on June 22nd, with the weirdest dream I’d ever had. I couldn’t get back to sleep so I finally got up and just wrote the thing down.
I wrote and completed the book within three months, and haven’t stopped since.
It’s a great story, focused on finding family and trust, and also beating a ton of bad guys with your telepathic powers. You know, the usual.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not that I think are unusual, but I guess it’s kind of a compulsion? I think that’s pretty common, but I frequently wake up in the middle of the night to write down a scene- I’ve got stories all over the house, some that don’t even have a place in any of my books or works-in-progress. I just write what inspires me, which means it takes a lot of discipline to finish anything. I’m still working on that part.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Stephen King, Suzanne Collins, JK Rowling, of course. I also love Jane Austen, as she has such an interesting look into the human mind. You have to love William Goldsman of the Princess Bride, just because of his unique perspective. C.S. Lewis because I read the Screwtape Letters in high school, and it blew my mind. You have to love Stephanie Meyers and her ability to make you sympathize with an angsty vampire and his whiny girlfriend. I have a ton of guilty pleasure reads- pretty much anything anyone hated I’ve probably read out of sheer curiosity. Way too many to fit into this tiny square. Oh, and I wish I could read George R. R. Martin, but he kills everyone! It’s hard for a die-hard happily-ever-afterer to deal with.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently editing the second book in my Parallel Ends Series, What Lies in the Forest. It’s a short read, 42, 000 words, and it’ll probably really confuse some readers about where it ties into the series, but I PROMISE it does.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Facebook or Amazon itself. I had some success with Facebook when I released What Lies in a Dream, but that was generated by my mostly excited family and friends. I’ve looked into different promotion sites, like Awesome Gang as I’m working on generating some long-term interest.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Jump off the bridge with the rest of us crazies! No really, it’s about being true to your own interests, I think. You can write a book you think everyone else will like, and ultimately be unhappy with it, or you can write a book you like and…. be a little less unhappy with it. But that striving for better is what makes a great writer and a great human!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I’m trying to think of all those inspiring quotes you read on Pinterest when you’re in the midst of a mental breakdown somewhere between the second and third edit…. but nothing is coming to me. So, I’ll just say this: “You fail only if you stop writing.” Ray Bradbury
What are you reading now?
My own work-in-progress. Hah! But really I’m reading through a Fantasy compilation my husband bought me for our anniversary. It has Lovecraft (his favorite) and Howard, Wells, MacDonald. All the classic fantasy writers.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Completed editing and publishing my next two in the Parallel Ends Series, What Lies in the Forest, and What Lies in Time. Or possibly What Lies in Solitude. Could be any of those. Depends on my final timeline.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Pride and Prejudice. The Princess Bride. Book Two in the One Series by Nora Roberts. And a pick from my husband, because he’s always the best a surprises.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m an average geek who has written 7 books now. Five are sci-fi and super powers oriented, one is a coloring book that I will be launching soon and then there is my nonfiction about my time as an Animal Cop.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My most recent is my coloring book called, Truly Bizarre. It’s all surreal and strange artwork meant to challenge the imagination as well as your colored pencils. I’ve been looking for a good outlet for my artwork for some time and I’m finally jumping into trying this route.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
There are “usual” writing habits? Sorry, couldn’t help myself. Nothing for me is normal or standard procedure. I have to be very flexible in my life and I use a lot of unorthodox methods. I guess, random is a good word for how I do things.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m a classics man when it comes to authors. JRR Tolkien, Issac Asimov, Robert Louis Stevenson, Edgar Rice Burroughs, and so many more that cloud together in my head. I grew up on books like 20,000 Leagues under the Sea, Sherlock Holmes, Tarzan, Narnia, and even the Island of Dr Moreau. I’m eclectic in my tastes and influences. I think this has me pretty well rounded.
What are you working on now?
A combination of projects are in the works for me. More coloring books, a book of short stories, and a board game.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still seeking that.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
If you are serious about it and love it, never give up. It will be hard, very hard, but never give up.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Just what I said about advice to give. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought about quietly disappearing for sake of not getting things off the ground when I hoped to. It’s a hard trail to walk, but you just can’t give up.
What are you reading now?
I haven’t had time to read in quite a while, but I last read the Death of King Arthur. Deep read.
What’s next for you as a writer?
More writing. I have a book of short stories about amazing characters to get done.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Oh lets see, The Hobbit, Watership Down, Tarzan of the Apes, and The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
After graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a BA in profession writing, I went to work in the family construction business while writing novels on the side. My first book was a revenge tale/cat-and-mouse thriller titled “Killer Cain,” which was soon followed by the dark comedy “The Everyday Housewife: Murder, Drugs, and Ironing.” The latest novel, “Heaven Is a Gay Bar,” is my first semi-autobiography written in first person narrative. About eighty percent of it is true and most of the characters are based on real people. It’s by far the most challenging and rewarding book I’ve ever written, especially from an emotional standpoint.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My main inspiration for writing “Heaven Is a Gay Bar” was Barbie—the love of my life—and our bizarre on-again, off-again relationship that lasted throughout the 1990s. Those were very trying times to say the least, yet I loved her madly through it all and was deeply heartbroken when her life came to a sudden and tragic end. Her death continued to haunt me for a number of years and was seriously interfering with my creativity ‘til I finally decided to vent all my anger and frustration in a Word document. I had no idea at the time that I had a 350-page novel on my hands. I thought I was writing a short story! The time period in which we met (the early 90s) was also a source of inspiration to me. Not only was it the decade of my rebirth, but there was a lot of great music that came out during that time- plus a lot of great bands: Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, the Cranberries, and Nine Inch Nails, just to name a few. Then there was the place where Barbie and I met—a very popular gay nightclub called Angles—and all the wonderful people there, many of which are no longer with us.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’ve always been a bit of a night owl. I feel the most alive and creative when all the world’s asleep, as they say… which means that I’m usually sitting at my desktop computer ’til the crack of dawn- working on my manuscript, mostly. But I’m also on social media a lot. You’ve gotta keep those tweets and posts comin’! I usually sleep ’til ten or eleven in the morning… feed the cats, do all my shopping, relax in front of the TV for a little bit and see what’s going on in the world…. I don’t start writing ’til three or four in the afternoon- sometimes five. Then I’m chained to the desk ’til the rooster crows.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Oh, that’s an easy one! I love the classics: Mark Twain’s “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” Emily Brontë’s “Wuthering Heights,” Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein,” Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice,” Bram Stoker’s “Dracula,” all of Fyodor Dostoevsky and Franz Kafka… and the list goes on and on! I love gothic horror and social commentary, as you can see. Carson McCullers and Charles Bukowski are a couple more of my idols… and as far as something more contemporary is concerned, I prefer crime fiction- although I’m not very good at it, myself. Elmore Leonard and James Ellroy are two of my favorites in that genre. I also think Kazuo Ishiguro is such a brilliant, award winning writer.
What are you working on now?
My next book (still untitled) is another semi-autobiography dealing with my childhood. It’s about a twelve-year-old boy who’s at odds with his adoptive parents (his father, mostly) and sets out to find his “real” father—a brave and mighty Comanche warrior—or so he believes. I wanted to show readers what it’s like to be a half-Native American kid raised by white folks, unable to fathom why you’re so different and then suddenly being told that you were adopted. I didn’t even know what adoption was at the time!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I prefer Facebook. That’s the one outlet I’m using to promote my book at the moment, plus my Amazon Author Page and book promotion sites such as this one.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Always believe in yourself and never give up, especially when you’re trying to get your book published… or afterward, when you’re trying to promote it. Keep writing, no matter what—even through hardship or writer’s block. A brilliant idea will eventually come to you, often after page upon page of complete and utter gibberish (at least for me).
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
See above.
What are you reading now?
Actually, I’m not reading anything at all right now, nor am I watching much TV. I’m all about this next book. Stephen King was right when he said to leave the television off and stay away from other books while writing your first draft. You have to be completely in the zone when writing your book.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m hoping to be finished with the book I’m working on now by the end of the year. Then, I don’t know. Maybe I’ll try to write a screenplay, seeing that movies are my other passion. I’m not sure if I’ll have another book left in me, but you never know. I might have to wait a few years and then write about old age.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
1. Carson McCuller’s “The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter.” The movie didn’t do it justice, although I’m a huge Alan Arkin fan and I loved his performance in that film—very touching. But the book was far more powerful and heart-wrenching in its dealing with the rejected, mistreated, and oppressed. It’s the book that inspired me the most to write “Heaven Is a Gay Bar.”
2. Emily Brontë’s “Wuthering Heights.” I don’t know why I love this book so much. I guess it’s the romantic in me. Plus, it has to be one of the greatest love stories ever written! And I strongly agree with Brontë that love is eternal.
3. Mark Twain’s “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.” I love this book for its gritty realism and strong characters. But it’s also an amazing adventure book, filled with plenty of suspense and Twain’s trademark humor and wit.

I grew up in Mesa, Arizona and have battled anxiety, depression and PTSD from an early age. After being diagnosed with Graves’ Disease and informed that I wouldn’t live to see the age of 20, I lived my life in anger and bitterness until I woke up on my 20th birthday, a mom, and realizing that I didn’t have to live that way anymore. My life was finally mine and I fought hard to create a positive outlook, and now I’m following my dreams while assiting others on their mental health journey. So far, I have written and published two books in one series and I’m currently working on the third as well as pre-writing the rest of the series, and some secret side projects based on mental health, and other fiction novels.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The entire series is called The Maiden of The Four Horsemen. To be perfectly honest, I’m not quite sure how I stumbled upon the idea. I started making my first story character with my friends when I was 13. They were going to teach me how to do written role plays, and I somehow knew this character as if I had known her all my life. The beginning of her story was what I had never written out, and that is how the series began coming to life. Starting with Book 1: The Fallen.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to write late at night when everyone in the house is asleep, and Often I play the sound of a rainstorm on my phone while I play music on my computer. It helps me get into the right “head space.” I also love to have iced coffee with me to push past my creative limits. I usually do my best writing when slightly sleep-deprived.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Way of the peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman, anything written by my martial arts teacher, Master Peter Hill, Anne Rice, Edgar Allen Poe, R.A Salvator (naturally), and my all-time favorite book in the history of forever: Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
What are you working on now?
The Third book in the Maiden of the Four Horsemen series: The Maiden in Madness, A book series that gives us a look into the lives of people who suffer from Depression, Addiction, Anxiety, and other issues that have stigmas and judgemental beliefs surrounding them at all sides – my goal is to remove some of the stigma’s so we can all, as a human race, become more understanding, compassionate and open-hearted. I am also working on a few other fiction pieces and one about my own journey with my graves’ disease.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
So far, I haven’t had much luck on promoting the books. But, I do welcome any chance to discuss it with others and if they seem interested I hand out my business card with the website to purchase them from and the best way to find them.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write. Never compare your writing to anyone else’s because you aren’t anyone else. You have thoughts and ideas that no one else has. You have emotions that no one else feels exactly the way you feel them. Whatever you want to write, write. Write with a goal, with intent, and always remember this: “You can go back and edit and organize later. You cannot edit a blank page.”-something from pinterest.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Life is about the journey, not the destination” Way of the peaceful warrior, Dan Millman
“You can’t help anyone if you can’t help yourself.” – Robert Fowler
“Learn from the mistakes of others, you don’t have to make them all yourself” – Michael Bishop
“You are braver then you believe, stronger then you seem, smarter then you think, and loved more then you know.” -Winnie the Pooh
“Never stop believing in Magic”
What are you reading now?
I’m re-reading the “Legend of Drizzt” series, Unfuck yourself, and I always default to Edgar Allen Poe and my all-time favorite: Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
What’s next for you as a writer?
After my Maiden series, then I work harder on my “through the eyes”, my journal-like story of my battle with graves disease and after that, who knows? As long as I can dream, and breathe, I can always come up with another great adventure.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Alice’s Adventures in wonderland/Through the looking glass By Lewis Carroll, Edgar Allen Poe’s Complete book of Tales and Poems, and two blank notebooks.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a new Author!
I have written my first book, “BEHIND THE STAIRCASE”.
CHRISTOPHER EAGAN BIOGRAPHY
Christopher Eagan was born in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1957. He is the third child of four sons born to his parents Rudi and Mary Eagan.
At a very young age Christopher was always interested in electronics and fascinated by Thomas Edison, and knowing that one day he would become an inventor himself! He always had the insite of seeing in his mind what future products would be.
Being from a musical family his Father being a professional pianist and exposed to good music he started playing guitar at the age of 14. By the time he was 16 years old he was a professional guitarist playing with a band. When he was of age he started playing in some of the big show rooms in Las Vegas!
Christopher became a successful inventor with many patented products that are currently being sold around the world, and he holds the patent for the first ever digital recording electric guitar.
Being aware of when inspiration comes through such as ideas for inventing and song writing Christopher always feels that this source of knowledge does not come from within, but rather something that comes through to him!
So several years back ideas for writing stories were coming out in thought quicker then he could type them out. That’s when he knew that he’s on the right track!
chriseaganworld.com – christopherspeakers.com
email – ceiinvent@aol.com
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“BEHIND THE STAIRCASE”.
I have been a professional Inventor since 1984 when I made my first automotive tool for the Steelman Company.
Given that I have always been a creative and inventive person since being a small child, the stories in the book came through to me just like my inventions. I am also a professional musician/songwriter.
Creativity for myself comes through as a complete package. Such as a complete concept of an invention, or a melody with lyrics. When I backed away from playing music professionally from the show rooms in Las Vegas to lend my time to inventing for the Steelman Tool Company, I did not feel I was turning my back on my music.
Creativity doesn’t play favorites! I now feel guided to write and express myself through stories.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I seem to get inspired to write when I don’t want to get out of bed!
Most of the time I will get up, go to my music room, grab whatever paper or envelope to write on and put down my ideas or concepts for stories.
Later in the day I will sit down at the computer and type out the stories as I create them.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Actually my influence’s for Sci Fi came from watching on TV, the shows “The Twilight Zone”, “Night Gallery” and “The Outer Limits”!
What are you working on now?
Promoting my new book.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an India based electrical engineer, a student guide and an author targeting sci-fi fiction and humour. I also have been an unpaid college events and birthday photographer, unpaid photo editor of not- much famous people’s not-much famous photos.
I have received a few distinctions- majorly academic excellence award for 2 successive years in college and a laptop (that I have used to write all this) under an appreciation scheme, again for academics.
After attending a workshop in IIT-Gn, I realized to start working on writing a juvenile fiction novel. At the age of 18, I started shaping the characters and an outline which managed to produce a draft in the name of CODE, before my 19th birthday and got published by AMAZON KDP.
CODE is a work of fiction but is inspired by real people, real events and real memories of my personal life. The second edition with massive updates was released in FEB 2018.
Outcomes include CODE CHAPTER 1 and https://nbindites.blogspot.com, the latter being a platform to put my all works together.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
It’s CODE Chapte 1. It is inspired by my friends amd family.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yeah, i create some dialogue in sleep and write them down as the first thing to do in the morning. The plot of the story can come to me anytime, anywhere.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I loved Harry Potter and Shelock Holmes.
What are you working on now?
Working on Full version of CODE.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m not a professional author and about my age, it’s 20 as of 10 Aug 2018 2:33PM.
So, I’m digging the internet.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Well I’m new already. But still I’d love the originals. I don’t have to love your story, all i have to love is your content and characters.
I hated Avengers Infinity Wars. But I have just watched it again.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
There’s no beginning and no end. There’s just becoming.
What are you reading now?
Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m not sure if I’d have any content left after CODE. I’m giving memories of my whole life in it.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Again, Harry Potter and Shelock Holmes.

Writing is my gift and my daily escape of this sad world. I’ve always loved to put my thoughts on paper, but I didn’t know that I would ever love Writing the way that I do today. I live to Encourage, Inspire, Uplift, and remind people of how great they are. Empowering Women is my Purpose. Women have the power to change this world. All it take is to Love yourself more and to stop allowing so much pain to be inflicted upon the heart. I make it my business to remind everyone that the majority of pain and turmoil that we experience is brought on ourselves. Poor decision making is the root to a lot of our problems. I’m not expecting the world to like me at all, but I’m here to stay! In fact; I will die in this condition. I won’t stop until my casket drop. Even when I’m dead and gone; my words will continue to live on. For this; I’m Truly Grateful.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an award-winning and bestselling speculative fiction author best known for Amaskan’s Blood (2016 Ozma Fantasy Award Winner and Epic Awards Finalist), Class-M Exile, and the collection Joy to the Worlds: Mysterious Speculative Fiction for the Holidays (Foreword Reviews 2015 Book of the Year Finalist). I also have several published short stories in anthologies such as Untethered: A Magic iPhone Anthology and Magic Unveiled. I spent most of my K-12 education doodling stories and 500 page monstrosities that are forever locked away in a filing cabinet.
When I’m not writing, I’m getting my game on with tabletop and video games, indulging in cartography or other artistic endeavors, or staring at the ocean. I live in the Seattle area with my husband and our three kitties who enjoy lounging across the keyboard when writing deadlines approach.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
I just had two books come out: Amaskan’s War, which is Book II in the Boahim Trilogy, and From the Worlds of Raven Oak, which is my coloring book. I illustrated and wrote the coloring book, which is inspired by all of my novels and stories and my love of drawing.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I edit and revise my novels on printed paper–old school. I get more done that way.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Growing up, I was heavily influenced by Anne McCaffrey’s Pern series as well as other classic SF/F. Now days, I get inspiration from a wide variety of stories and authors, including Neil Gaiman, Connie Willis, Margaret Atwood, N. K. Jemisin, and so many others. I also gain inspiration from people watching and sitting in nature.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently revising my upcoming science fiction space opera, The Eldest Silence, and outlining Book III in the Boahim Trilogy, Amaskan’s Honor.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
For the most part, I promote by having conversations with readers. Social media is one of my best methods for doing that.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing. Write as much as you can, preferably daily. You only get better with practice.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Pretty much the advice I just gave (write and keep writing), but also, be you. Don’t worry about chasing trends. Also, writing is a marathon. Focus on the end game.
What are you reading now?
K. R. Richardson’s Blood Orbit. It’s a smart science fiction mystery that speaks volumes about current racial tension.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’ll be finishing up the Boahim Trilogy and moving on to a stand alone novel in the universe featuring a character from Amaskan’s Blood.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
American Gods by Neil Gaimain, Blackout & All Clear by Connie Willis, and To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Though Wall Street Kitchen is the first book I’ve authored, I’ve written articles for many others and guest posted on top finance blogs including Barbara Friedberg’s at barbarafriedbergpersonalfinance.com.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my book is Wall Street Kitchen: The Recipe Behind a Housewife’s 1000% Stock Return. The book was inspired by my mother’s success in the stock market. In the book I share her ‘recipe’ on how you too can become a successful stock market investor without initially having a lot of money, a post-secondary education, or any sort of financial background.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Habit, yes. Unusual, depends on who you ask, haha. One particular thing I do is after an hour or so of working, I tend to get up and pace around my room for a few minutes before resuming my work. I’ve always done this and it gives me a little time to clear my writer’s/workers block. If I’m severely stuck on a problem, I’ll actually leave the home to take a short stroll outside. You should try it, it works.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Gosh, I have many authors I admire, but on the topic of investing self-help, Benjamin Graham immediately comes to mind for his investing fundamentals. Joel Greenblatt for his practical approach to investing, and Robert Kiyosaki for his ability to breakdown complex notions of investing and having it expressed into his simplistic writing style.
What are you working on now?
I just finished working with Daniel Greenberg on the Audiobook, and I’m starting to work on a smartphone downloadable stock-tracking application that will integrate the investing principles in my book. Its intention is to help you become a more informed, savvy investor. The application will be the first one of its kind!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Word of mouth, word of mouth, word of mouth. There is nothing more effective and gratifying than promoting your own book by connecting with people face to face – words alone can only go so far.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Writing a book can be a daunting task. Think about everything that you have and use all the resources you have to their fullest extent. Have a clear picture of what you want your readers to experience about your book and bravely move forward to pursue that picture without hesitation. Do something each day towards the creation of your book no matter how insignificant that thing may be.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Have a vision of what you want and then find others to work with who are just as crazy as you.
What are you reading now?
The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Material for my stock market app.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

I’m working on the next part of the elemental series
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I tend to just tell people around where I live to spread the word.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I think that they should definitely brush up on grammer because it took me longer to edit the sorry than to write it.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I think it would have to be that I need to think about what the reader knows while they’re reading vs what I know. It won’t always make sense to them because they don’t know what I know about the story.
What are you reading now?
I’m reading Enemy by Charles Higgins
What’s next for you as a writer?
I would like to continue writing the elemental series.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I think I would take 4 books from the Percy Jackson series. I’d rather take four random books though so it’ll be new.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m an Australian born writer who grew up on a farm in South Africa, where urban legend and traditional oral histories combined to provide a heady brew of stories. I settled in Australia as an adult but not before I had turned up unarmed at a gunfight, discovered dead bodies and fought off sharks while spearfishing. When not writing, I work as an IT project manager.
I’ve written two book and had flash fiction published in an anthology.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Plato Crater, it’s the second book in the Cities of the Moon series, following on from my first novel The Hills of Mare Imbrium.
The world’s great cities will go dark without the Moon’s helium 3 supplies. Jonah Barnes doesn’t care, all he wants is to stay out of trouble and find a job in the helium mines, but the people of the Moon have other plans.
I like the idea of exploring where humanity will go in the near future. Plato Crater explores how we are pushing towards integration with technology and asks whether this make sus more or less human.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Does rushing to get the best seat on the train carriage count? It’s where I do my best writing.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
So many different authors. I particularly like authors who use the alien point of view to explore what being human means. Some of my favourites include: Embassytown
by China Miéville, The Quantum Thief by Hannu Rajaniemi, The Sparrowby Mary Doria Russell, and Little Fuzzy by H. Beam Piper
What are you working on now?
The third book in the series of course. I also have another two books with plot lines slowly emerging from the chaotic morass of my idea pool.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I like Titter as a community for promotion
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing. This is a marathon not a sprint. The more you write, the better you become at your craft.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I self-published my first book in July 2018. I am currently in the editing phase for a second book as well as have 15 chapter written for a winter release.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is titled, All I Will Ever Need. I had been playing around with the idea of writing a book, but hadn’t come up with a good story line. As a hobby, I have a wringer washing machine, cira 1935. While doing a load of laundry, the story line came to me and the rest is history.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No, unusual habits.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Kristen Ashley, Lauren Blakey, Cora Seaton, Stephen King, Mary Higgins Clark. Although I wouldn’t dare compare myself to any other them.
What are you working on now?
Currently I a editing a novel that has become so complicated, that some day’s I have to call my editing assistant to make sure what I wrote made sense.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am still trying to figure that out.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up. Even if you only sell ten books in the first month, that is more than what you would have sold if you didn’t write the book at all.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Research, Research, and do more research.
What are you reading now?
I am not reading anything right now. However, the last book I read was Motorcycle Man, by Kristen Ashley, for the third time.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I plan to keep plugging away.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Stand by Stephen King, The Golden Dynasty by Kristen Ashley, Well Hung by Lauren Blakely and any two of Cora Seton’s Hero’s of Chance Creek series.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hello,
I am a young writer who embarked on a literary career four years ago. I published my first book through a Self-publisher, and later I increased my writing experience until many literary agencies contacted me. Self-Publishing helped me a lot, above all to fully understand the world of literature and the publication of books, starting with the drafting of the first drafts of a manuscript, the publication, and finally the sponsorship. Today, I account for thirty-six published books (including those translated all over the world), and a sizable array of readers who, in addition to reading my books, have helped me in personal growth and writing. My first novel was published about two years ago, climbing the first rankings of Amazon and in the most important Italian bookstores. Then, I pulled out a saga from the Horror-Fantasy vampire, including the latter among the top ten positions in the Italian classification in the Mondadori chains, IBS, and LaFeltrinelli, and in the first within the Amazon rankings. Beyond writing, I am passionate about art; any form of art can be considered as such, I tend to observe it, assimilate it and understand it. I like outdoor physical activity and I’m an animal lover. My main work remains that of the writer, but I am also a producer, writer and occasionally I enjoy playing with my old electric Stratocaster, playing some 80s or 90s pieces.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest hit is an Ebook series: California Dreaming; A Los Angeles Series, which was published for the first time in Italy on June 18th on all Italian Amazon platforms. A series inspired by the world of Californication and that of the writer Hank Moody. The 1st season sees James Alliston, a failed writer and alcoholic struggling with his arrival in Los Angeles, after being left by his wife and a small child, try to rebuild a new life in the literary capital and film. A funny, spicy, sensual and profound series that uses in the reader’s mind an opportunity to immerse themselves totally in the adventures of the famous and sexy fantasy novelist, protagonist of the series. At the moment, the first season has been translated into English in order to reach international publication and, later, will be translated into almost every language of the world, hoping to reach the success that has already reached in Italy.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
If there has been one or more writers who have influenced me, the latter are definitely Ken Follet and Nicholas Sparks. Two of my favorite authors. The list is a bit ‘longer than that, but if I chose to embark on this career is certainly about them, which inspired me deeply and left an indelible mark on me.
What are you working on now?
At the moment, I’m working on a new novel, which I’ve technically finished writing in mid-July 2018. A love story starring Mitch, a boy with a deep love for animals. He forgot about this bond, which was born together with his father. And Sarah, a good girl and a good family who tends to have control over everything that happened to her. The two protagonists will meet in a remote town in North Carolina after Sarah’s grandfather felt bad, completely distorting the girl’s plans. It will not be easy at first, and the two guys will not seem to get along very well, but soon they will discover many things one on the other’s account, which will help them understand what is not working in their lives. Not only that, with the passage of time, they will begin to open their hearts and trust one another, discovering what it really means to love. I do not want to release any more information about my latest work, as this is a draft of the plot of the story just sketched. In addition, a true writer never loses too much on what concerns a new manuscript, at least not me – (laughter).
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
– Never give on your dream.
– Whatever you do will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it. (Gandhi)
What are you reading now?
I’m up to read the latest book of Nicholas Sparks, and many books of some unknown author: I actually like to read books of some emerging author – (Smile). Specially, to write reviews.
What’s next for you as a writer?
At the moment, I’m busy trasforming my next books into a television series and movies.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I write mostly fantasy and science fiction, sometimes crossing the two. I’ve been writing for decades, mostly for free online, and only started self-publishing about a year ago. Back then, I wound up here and did an author interview. Not sure if interviews stay up here forever or if they get purged once a year. But I feel like I’ve learned so much about self-publishing in the last year, I might as well be a new person. So why not fill this out again?
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The last book I published is called Spherical Knives and it a bizarro fantasy about a world dominated by robots. I was inspired to write when I stumbled across a writing prompt that challenged the author to write a story where the zombie is the main character. I wrote Spherical Knives, except while the main character is indeed falling apart, she is not a zombie. She is just falling apart due to a robot conspiracy to turn her into bio-fuel.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I place a chicken on my head and cluck three times before writing each book. Just kidding.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Off the top of my head, I love Clive Barker’s fantasy novels.
What are you working on now?
Another book in my Chronicles of Omicron series. It’s not really a series, though. It’s a bunch of books from the same universe. Only one is published right now, The Thieves of Nottica.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I haven’t been wildly successful promoting my books yet. I’ll get back to you.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Read a lot. And don’t give up trying to reach readers. You can. It just takes time.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The writing advice I ever heard came from Neil Gaiman, which is hilarious because I’m really not a fan of his. He once said that he always tries to finish every book he starts because each book is a learning experience. I sort of adapted that advice and have learned a great deal from all the books I pushed myself to finish.
What are you reading now?
Clive Barker’s Abarat, the first book. I never did finish reading all of them, and I stumbled across a copy in the thrift store, it felt like a sign. Or something weird like that.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Saving up to get better covers for my books, pushing for reviews, promoting, writing more.
The usual.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Moby Dick has some truly beautiful passages. The Thief of Always by Clive Barker. The Earthsea Cycle by Ursula K Le Guin.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Basically I’m a doctor, a Physiotherapist by profession. Earlier I had completed my Diploma in pharmacy & so I’m a pharmacist too. Months ago, I started to cultivate my passion as a writer & storyteller and recently I have written my first book. Apart from that, I’m a simple girl with so many tiny crazy dreams.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
It’s “OUR 6.5 YEARS” – an imaginary realistic love story. Few stories, experiences and people around me left an imprint on my heart which inspires and motivates me to write.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes I do have, either I don’t write a single word or when I write I don’t stop writing and editing till it get perfect no matter how much time it takes or how much pain I feel in my fingers.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Except my medical books (smiles) I have read almost every novel of Durjoy Datta and Chetan Bhagat, John Green’s “Fault in our stars & Paper town”, Joseph Murphy’s “Believe in yourself”, Rhonda Byrne’s “The Secret”, Nicholas Spark’s “The Notebook”, Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight” series. etc
What are you working on now?
In search of next inspiration.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I think the best method is to keep feeding your reader’s with new but relatable writings. Whether it’s via Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or via your Blog.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I’m a new author too (smiles). I don’t have much experience, i’m still learning to be a better me but one thing I would like to advice those who are writing or wanted to start writing, “Trust yourself and don’t stop writing until you finish your first draft”, because it happens with so many people, they start writing but couldn’t finish and they give up in between.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Dont allow somebody else’s opinion or your own fears to control you, just trust your inner vibes and learn to love yourself before you love anybody else.
What are you reading now?
Right now, I have two books in my bucket list – “Born to Love, Cursed to feel – by Samantha King Holmes and “How to unleash your true potential” by Shivam.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Frankly speaking, I haven’t thought of anything relating to it, yet. (Hahaha)
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If only 3-4 books then 2 of my bucket list I mentioned above. Third “I hope this reach her in time” by r.h. Sin and 4th will be my diary, in which I usually write my stories.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m 23 and I live in North Carolina. During the day I finish and install custom cabinets. I’ve written three books so far. Besides writing I like to play video games, exercise and hang out with friends.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is “Okay, Sweet Universe.” Two books directly inspired me. The first is “The Wizard of the Upper Amazon” by Manuel Cordova-Rios. It’s the true story of when the author was kidnapped by a primitive tribe in the Amazon in the early 1900s. They kidnapped him because they needed an outsider to be their king in order to avoid jealousy within the tribe. The book focuses mostly on Cordova-Rios adapting to their culture through ayahuasca sessions and hunting with the men. He deeply focuses on how the drug helped him tune in to the jungle and assimilate with the tribe. A character in my most recent book is put in a similar situation. The second book is “Primitive Mythology” by Joseph Campbell. The whole of “Okay, Sweet Universe” was inspired by this book’s explanation of the history of human psychology that most likely led to the creation of mythology and religion. Bits and pieces of mythology can be found throughout “Okay, Sweet Universe.”
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to wake up around 4 in the morning to write. I make some coffee and pick up where I left off the previous morning. It’s a good habit, because I have nothing else to do that early and I also can’t use the “I’m too tired after work” excuse. I also enjoy the 4am silence. Most of the world isn’t awake yet and I know no one is going to text me. I feel alone which makes writing a whole lot easier. It’s basically just me and the computer and fresh thoughts after a good night’s sleep that’s hopefully filled with weird dreams. I used to drape a shirt over my head when I wrote, but I don’t do that anymore.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
“The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” is the first book I read that introduced me to my current literary tastes. Douglas Adams is probably the reason I can’t seem to write any serious science fiction, like Isaac Asimov or Frank Herbert. I get caught up in trying to be weird and funny and forget about all the smart stuff. It’s an extremely fun way to write though and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Other inspirational authors are: Kurt Vonnegut, Philip K. Dick, Chuck Palahniuk, Hunter S. Thompson, Terry Pratchett, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Henry Miler, Charles Bukowski, B. Traven, Kafka, Camus, Jack Kerouac, Thomas Pynchon, David Wong, William S. Burroughs and Aldous Huxley.
What are you working on now?
I’ve been writing a lot of short stories of random genres lately and I’ve been very slowly working on my 4th book, a sort of literary fiction crime situation.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Awesome Gang is my go to so far. I used KDP Select’s advertising program for a while, but it can get very pricey. I’m not very good at promoting my books.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Stay weird.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t take life too seriously.
What are you reading now?
The Great Shark Hunt by Hunter S. Thompson. It’s an anthology.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m just going to keep writing books and working until one of them prevails.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
“The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” by Douglas Adams; “Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said” by Philip K. Dick; “The Tropic of Cancer” by Henry Miller; and “The Last Night of the Earth Poems,” by Charles Bukowski.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hello! I’m Kelly and I’ve lived in Chicago for ten years. I love everything about living in the city and Chicago was a huge inspiration for my first novel.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My novel is called, A Girl’s Guide to Chicago. As I wrote my book, I had a few goals in mind (other than writing a good book for readers to enjoy). I wanted to write a book that is inspiring to girls and women (and even guys) who are moving to Chicago, already live in Chicago, or are planning to visit or move to the city. I want anyone who lives or visits Chicago to read about how wonderful the city truly is and all the fun things to experience here.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Maybe not so unusual, but cleaning my house or taking a long walk really helps me to think through writer’s block or to find inspiration.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Oh so many, but I would have to say the first author to really inspire me was Sophie Kinsella. I love her light-hearted writing and humor. When I was going through difficult times her books really gave me a good laugh. Lately, I’ve enjoyed reading, The Women in the Window, The Good Widow, The Marriage Lie, and I’m currently reading Mr. & Mrs. American Pie.
What are you working on now?
Well, I’m currently marketing A Girl’s Guide to Chicago and I hope to start working on another novel next year.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I own a blog called girlsguidechicago.com. I write guides for girls of everything fun to do throughout the city. I have built up a following through my blog and social media which has helped me to promote my book.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just starting writing. Get your ideas or notes on paper. Be truthful in your writing and enjoy the process.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
You don’t have to be a well-known author to publish a book. You can make your own success. Just make sure you put something good out there.
What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading Mr. & Mrs. American Pie by Juliet McDaniel. She is also a Chicago author!
What’s next for you as a writer?
I would love to publish another novel.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
That is such a tough question! I don’t typically re-read books so I would probably take four new books that I’ve never read. Something inspiring, something fun, something suspenseful, and something romantic.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have lived most of my life in Kent, England but I’ve also lived in New Zealand and central Africa. Both had a lasting influence. Africa dragged my love of writing to the surface. Living some forty miles from the nearest tarmac road and seventy from anything pretending to be a bookshop, I soon ran out of bedtime stories for the children. Scribbling began.
On returning to England, fiction had to take a back seat as real life took over, you know the sort of thing – a proper job to keep feeding the mortgage and the growing family, and chores, chores and more chores. But a love of writing finally erupted into regular tap-tapping. I’ve written and read for the BBC and published short stories.
Finally, a little more time was found – four novels have been completed, and more are in the pipeline. The first book to be published was Hide in Time, a time travel romance. The second novel, One Dark Night, was inspired by the smugglers’ caves I visited as a child, and the third, Under a Dark Star, is a sequel set in the ‘diamond isle’ – the Isle of Wight – where one of my husband’s distant ancestors was a smuggler. The third in the trilogy (fourth book I’ve written) is called One Dark Soul. All include historical information and scenes based on fact.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called One Dark Soul. The inspiration was from watching how people can work hard, finally achieve a home and family and all looks good and then something comes along and wrecks it all.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I do’t think I’m unusual at all. I also know that there are a lot of people who would not agree with that statement. So I don’t think I have any unusual writing habits!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I think the first book that influenced me was Jamaica Inn by Daphne du Maurier. I read this when I was quite young and I was totally ‘lost’ in it. Horrified to find out who was behind all the bad goings-on.
Another book that hit me hard was Thomas Hardy’s Tess of the D’Urbervilles. How could an author end a book like that? I physically threw the book across the room (and I’m normally very careful with books).
What are you working on now?
I have just started a new book, I am on chapter two of the first draft and it is totally different from anything I have written before. That’s all I can say – it’s still in the oven cooking and I’ll tell you more when I see how it cooks.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I wish I knew!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
If you want to write a novel or a book of any kind, this is the best time in all history to do so. Scribble or tap away to your heart’s content. Enjoy writing it, enjoy polishing it and your joy will come through in your writing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Make notes – inspiration strikes at odd times so always have a notebook and pen nearby.
What are you reading now?
I’m about to start a DCI Morton book by Sean and Daniel Campbell. It will take me ages to finish it because I devote as much time as possible to writing.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’ve just completed a little book of short stories and I am trying to make it free on Amazon without much success. So finding out how to do that is a job for the next few days.
It’s called One Stolen Kiss and Other Short Stories by Anna Faversham. If you see it at 0.99, you’ll know I failed to make it free.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Aaargh… I can’t answer that!

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve been a Project Manager, Portfolio Manager, Program Manager, Business Analyst and Strategic Planner for more than 16 years. While I have published two fiction series under pen names, I have one complete nonfiction series, “Everything’s a Project (and Everyone’s a Project Manager)” already available on Amazon, and am currently halfway through my second series, entitled “Get Ahead of Your Time.” I am using my many years of experience, ups, downs, trials and errors to pass project management and time management expertise along to anyone who can use the knowledge I have to help them. I am eager to give back!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“Get Ahead of Your Time Book 2: Evaluate What Is & Isn’t Working” is the 2nd in my four-book “Get Ahead of Your Time” series, in which I use my own homegrown process improvement methodology to help people learn how to pull themselves out of the Overwhelm (overwhelming situations) they are in and make their lives better one triumph at a time. This comes after years of teaching people using these techniques, so there are lots of anecdotes, case studies and my own personal examples. Once again, I just want to help people…to give back using what I have learned over many years!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write in fits and spurts. Rarely does a whole book come out in a handful of days. It’s more like, I’ll write a chapter like mad ’til it’s finished, and then time passes before the next chapter gets written.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m encouraged by, and receive fantastic insights from, the likes of Brian Tracy, Tony Robbins and Steve Scott.
What are you working on now?
The third book in my “Get Ahead of Your Time” series. It’s Book 3: Propose a Solution.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I don’t have an answer for this yet. This promotion I’m doing for the free copy of the first book of my first nonfiction series (“Everything’s a Project (and Everyone’s a Project Manager) Book 1: Introduction” is free on Amazon.com from August 30 through September 3rd) will probably answer this question.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t think you know it all. Don’t think you can just do whatever you want. Writing is not an “anyone can do it” thing. Just because you snap off tweets without thought doesn’t mean you’re a writer. Join writing groups. Read books that teach you the craft of writing. Treat writing like you would treat any other creative endeavor. You can’t play in a symphony orchestra the first time you pick up the flute. You can’t play Mozart the first time you sit down in front of a piano. You can’t be Picasso the first time you pull out a paintbrush and put it to canvas. You can’t be a professional dancer just because your hubby thinks your moves in the living room while you’re drunk and jamming to 80s hair bands are fly. Writing is a craft you must learn, practice and improve. It takes talent, just like music takes talent. Anyone can play a violin…but can they bring you to tears like Joshua Bell? Anyone can be a ballet dancer…but can they tear your heart out like Mikhail Baryshnikov? Anyone can “sing,” but do they hold a candle to the cast of “Phantom of the Opera” or Josh Groban or Ed Sheehan? The advice is this: Understand that writing, just like any other profession, takes training.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Plot your book out before you write it. You’ll need the roadmap when the going gets tough.
What are you reading now?
I just finished “It Ends With Her” by Brianna Labuskes. Before that I enjoyed Patricia Cornwell’s “Ripper” and “Interference” by Amelie Antoine.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m looking to finish up my “Get Ahead of Your Time” series within the next couple of months, and then I’ll probably be putting some more fiction out there. Currently I have the “Takers” series under my pen name Chris Davis, and the “Morph” series under the pen name Amanda J. Banner. I have a few new novels laying around that are itching to see the light of day!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
My favorite all-time book, “The Secret Garden” by Frances Hodgson Burnett, to start. After that I’d probably choose novelizations of “Murder, She Wrote” because I can’t get enough of Jessica Fletcher no matter how many times I’ve seen those episodes!

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written seven books with more to come.
Elisa’s writing career began when she wrote a book about her trip to Italy. It was written in pencil on construction paper. She was in kindergarten.
In her Creative Writing classes, she received mostly high grades. The poem she wrote about her clarinet… didn’t. She learned that she is a perfectionist when it comes to punctuation, proper grammar and spelling.
Then life got busy and she forgot about writing. When life slowed down, the Writing Bug bit her. She’s been writing ever since. So much so that she has been known to request blank journals/composition books and pens for gifts.
She writes what the Lord gives her and publishes with His approval.
When not writing, she spends time with her own hero husband and her delightful Nebelung cat.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“REAL Conversations with God” – I’ve had some great, humorous and enlightening conversations with God that He said I could share… so, I share it!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Unusual for me? No. I pray a lot.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
So many! Debbie Macomber, Joyce Meyer, THE BIBLE, Max Lucado.
What are you working on now?
“Talk about Scriptures!” (a Holy Spirit commentary) – An easy-to-read, practical, user friendly, Bible companion series.
When I was learning more about the Holy Spirit, I wondered what His role was in creating the Bible. So, I asked Him. …. And He answered. And this book is what the Holy Spirit said. I discovered that He really enjoys talking about His word.
For more than 30 years, I’ve been listening to the Holy Spirit (Lord God). I started out hearing ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answers and graduated to hearing Him all the time.
My philosophy is that God speaks to us all the time in different ways. For example: Have you ever wondered why God created the heavens and earth? The LORD replied: “Because I wanted to! Because I wanted a place for My people to learn, play, grow and commune with Me.”
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
https://www.facebook.com/Elisabellasbooks76
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Think twice about publishing. Books are like children, they need constant attention. Do you really want to deal with that??
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be still and know.
What are you reading now?
a Max Lucado book
What’s next for you as a writer?
Jesus Symbols ~ an enlightening adult coloring book that can also be used for decorations.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Don’t know. lol

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have a B.S. in Information Systems and an M.B.A. but have pursued my true passion writing novels and poems. I am a mother of two, cancer survivor, kayaker, skier, gardener, camper, and lover of all things outdoors. I’ve written three books in the U-District mystery romance series and am working on my fourth.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My second book in the series, Ripped from Obscurity, was literally inspired by a poem about a country singer I had stuck in my head when I woke up from a dream. I popped out of bed, grabbed my laptop, and typed up the poem. I then wrote an entire romance mystery novel around an author of that poem and a country singer. My latest book, Seeking Sanctuary, involves the lead detective in the series and a character who has been with us since book one. She’s one of my favorites.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
The first book I ever wrote was also inspired by a dream that didn’t make any sense. I re-wrote the dream in my head, loved it, and then started typing it up. I figured I’d stop after a few pages. A couple of months later, I’d written an entire novel and I had so much fun writing it in my spare time. That’s when the writing bug hit. And I thought, “Huh, maybe I can do this.” So I wrote another one and said “Yup, I can do this.”
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’d never read a book for pleasure until my first boss asked me if I’d read Born in Fire by Nora Roberts. I was a goner after that and read most of her books. The romance novels I like the most have mystery and suspense elements. Since then, I’ve been influenced by J.D. Robb, Roxanne St. Claire, Christina Dodd, Marie Force, Barbara Freethy, Mary Higgins Clark, Tom Clancy, Dan Brown, Vince Flynn, and recently Melinda Leigh.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on my fourth novel, Another Casualty, in the U-District mystery romance series. I’m also working on book one, Seeing Double, in my new Harper Security series.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Wish I new. Does anyone want to share…
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Most would be authors never finish the book so the best advice I can give is to finish the book. Then write another one. You get better with every book you write. In addition, I’m a member of Romance Writers of America and Mystery Writers of America. I’ve spent the past eight years going to monthly presentations, workshops, and/or writers conferences to learn the “craft” of writing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
For writers block… read a book. It works for me every time. Somehow it gets the creative part of my brain working and in the middle of reading someone else’s book, a new scene will pop into my head for my own story. And nothing related to what I’m reading. It’s amazing how well this tip works.
What are you reading now?
Melinda Leigh’s Morgan Dane series
What’s next for you as a writer?
Launch my new Harper Security series and continue writing books in my U-District series. I have so many stories to write.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
A survival guide for sure, Born in Fire series, and the Divergent series. I love dystopian books too. But don’t think I’ll ever write them. Who knows…

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have two books currently. The Starhawk Chronicles, published through Burning Willow Press, and Other Worlds: A Collection of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Epic Silliness, self-published through Amazon. Book II of The Starhawk Chronicles will be released this October through BWP.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Starhawk Chronicles: Rest and WRECK-reation. It is the second book in the Starhawk Chronicles series. I wanted to take the characters on a different kind of adventure, and a trip to Las Vegas while I was writing the first book gave me the inspiration I needed.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Nothing I would call unusual. The requisite cup of coffee or tea while writing which I think is the staple of any author.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Grew up loving Mark Twain. Timothy Zahn, Dean Koontz, and Clive Cussler are favorites.
What are you working on now?
Book III of The Starhawk Chronicles, subtitled Rightful Heir. Also a few other works in progress.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Posting in any book-related Facebook group. I have a tendency to make silly, sci-fi related memes to get peoples attention
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just. Keep. Writing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Not advice, but as a Sophomore in high school, my English teacher said she believed I had a future as a writer. I’ve held on to that for over 30 years
What are you reading now?
An old favorite fantasy novel, Dragons of Autumn Twilight
What’s next for you as a writer?
Just to continue to write and keep getting published
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Walt Disney: An American Original, by Bob Thomas, Timothy Zahn’s Star Wars: Heir to the Empire trilogy, The Hobbit by Tolkien, 1776 by David McCullough

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a career journalist, including 25 years with The Guardian in London, and photographer who has written four books — two novels, a photography how-to and a kindly spoof about self-help writing groups. Everything I write is rooted in today and now I specialise in animal and social issues.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Beyond Extinction
Even the Concept of Truth is a Lie
This is a dystopian thriller, with romantic suspense and chase action, which sets out life in 2077 when humans are being squeezed into extinction. It was inspired by today’s environmental and natural world crises, which form underlying aspects. Developments in genetics and artificial intelligence play their roles, too, for better or worse.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Oh yes. Forget the lonely writer pecking out a masterpiece on a battered manual typewriter in a cold garret. I use my Samsung tablet and write anywhere: airports and bus stations, any hotel, waiting rooms to catch the moment, on buses, planes and trains… my favourite places are coffee houses where I can enjoy both writing and coffee. My “everyday” writing haunts are in el centro Cuenca, Ecuador… Cafe Austria and Nucallacta, both have great coffee and the latter keeps a stock of vegan treats.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Soon after the last ice age, when I was a trainee reporter, I studied the written form of Robert Bolt’s play, A Man for All Seasons, I loved the symbolism and the way he used it. My favourites among modern writers include John Le Carre, Martin Cruz Smith and Patricia Cornwell.
What are you working on now?
I am six chapters into a new novel which has three intertwined strands. It is another utopian/dystopian work about future societies.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Numbers count, so internet promotional sites work best — mailing lists, websites and tweets. I try to funnel their power into my own website for FREE downloads to my main suppliers of Beyond Extinction (including Kindle, iBook, Kobo etc).
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write what you feel strongly about — don’t try to manufacture a commercial book. Decide why you want to write. It’s just as valuable to write for yourself and your family/friends as it is to write for wider audiences. It’s as valuable to write to change the world as it is to earn money. Get a good fit between yourself and the ‘why’ and ‘what’s.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Strain advice through a fine mesh and keep only what works for you
What are you reading now?
I am rereading John Le Carre’s The Honorable Schoolboy after a break of decades. I am constantly amazed by the wonderful books, many of them old favourites, offered by Kindle at bargain prices
What’s next for you as a writer?
Articles, novels, whatever appeals … after a working life as a professional writer, editor and publisher, I now have the luxury of writing and photographing what appeals to me.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Tinker Tailor By John Le Carre; Gorky Park by Martin Cruz Smith, and one of the Kay Scarpetta novels by Patricia Cornwell. As a luxury addition, The Pale Horsemen by Bernard Cornwell.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Meredith Hale (M. K. Hale) is a current senior undergraduate student at University of Maryland College Park. She has written four novels at the age of twenty-one and published two, SHATTER: A Boys Are Demons Novel and HATING HIM. She specializes in writing new adult as a new adult herself. Her free time is spent reading as many romance novels as humanly possible and performing comedy (improv, standup, and sketch). Her two biggest fears are snakes and procrastination.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
HATING HIM is my latest novel. I had an idea for a physical therapy romance novel and several months later I had to go to physical therapy after an inopportune and rather juvenile run in with a see saw. After going, I started writing scenes with more realistic material. Brandon Gage was originally supposed to be a basketball player and the novel was meant to be adult. Suddenly, the characters emerged and it became a college romance of two people drawn together by humor and heat.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like silence and a room to myself. Plus, there’s nothing like some candy to get the creative juices flowing.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Yikes, big question. To name a few of my favorite authors: Leisa Rayven, Elle Kennedy, Kresley Cole, Gena Showalter, Richelle Mead, Penelope Douglas, Sophie Jordan, Wendy Higgins, Alice Clayton, Erin Watt, and Claire LaZebnik. Basically, any romance writer who isn’t afraid of mixing humor and heat influence me. Some books that influence my writing currently: BAD ROMEO, THE DEAL, MISTER ROMANCE, PAPER PRINCESS, ONE TINY LIE, WALLBANGER, and THE TROUBLE WITH FLIRTING.
What are you working on now?
For my third novel, THE RA’S RULES, the jury is still out on receiving responses from agents to my queries, but I’m super excited to say, over this past summer, I wrote a new novel—83,000 words—in two weeks and two days. I’m now working on revisions and edits until I can start sending query letters out to agents. It jumps in time, and I’m keeping the title to myself until I send it out.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Wattpad.com is a great way to attract new readers.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write for yourself first. That way you know exactly what the reader wants.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Just keep working and writing, and have patience with yourself.
What are you reading now?
WICKED HEART by Leisa Rayven.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’ve got several ideas in the mix. Not sure yet what will be my next finished piece. I’m thinking new adult, for sure.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Bad Romeo, Broken Juliet, Sweet Evil, and Paper Princess.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve been writing for a long time and I’ve actually lost count of the books; in the early days I was writing historical romances under three different pseudonyms to cover the mortgage, and there were a lot of those. Since I switched over to fantasy and science fiction, um… twenty? I stopped writing for a few years and when I restarted, a couple of years ago, I went indie. So far I’ve released seven indie books and I have two more completed that are going through the cover and formatting processes.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
A TAPESTRY OF FIRE. It’s the fourth in my “Applied Topology” fantasy series and I was inspired by wanting to add time travel to the topologist-mages’ experiences and by reading accounts of the London Blitz during World War II. And they also encounter the usual assortment of problems, from undercover snooping, to planning a wedding, to having colleagues turned into fish…
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No. I’m pretty boring.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’d like to have been influenced by A.S. Byatt, Jane Austen, Lois Bujold, Connie Willis, P.G. Wodehouse. I don’t know if I can point to any good influence they’ve had on my actual writing, though.
What are you working on now?
I’ve just started a new series which ties in to the Applied Topology one. This time the vehicle for magic is language, not mathematics. I have waited many years to cast a professor of linguistics as the ultimate villain; the first book is going to be very satisfying to write.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Umm. Well. I’m submitting this interview, aren’t I?
My general approach to book promotion is to snarl, “Hey. I wrote this book. You don’t have to read it.” I’m told my technique could stand some improvement.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write.
Then write some more.
Then, for a change of pace, write.
No one but you can read the book in your head.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
My mother: “Never go anywhere without a book, and never pass up a clean bathroom.”
What are you reading now?
The Wallet of Kai Lung, for comfort reading. Janet Evanovich’s Notorious Nineteen, for a complete change of pace. And Adventures in Real Estate, by Jane Stites, for background on realtors’ experiences to use in the new series.
What’s next for you as a writer?
More writing, I hope. The books are jumping up and down in the back of my head shouting, “Me first! Me first!” I hope to write all of the Language of Magic series first, and then tackle the Speech of Dragons books, but those two concepts are acting as if they want to merge. Then there’s the Regency mermaid fantasy that’s not connected to anything else and has been waiting too long for its turn.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Can I cheat and bring a Kindle?
Oh, well. If physical survival isn’t going to be an issue, then I want books that are dense and rich. A complete Shakespeare, the King James Bible, Palgrave’s Golden Treasury.
If I’m going to have to chop down my own coconuts, then I want a couple of the survivalist manuals my son-in-law has, and The Admirable Crichton for inspiration.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Born in London, UK in 1954, now a great-grandmother & living in Bucks, UK.
I’ve published 14 books to date but 3 of those were single short stories which were eBooks only as they were too short for paperbacks, those 3 stories have been combined to make book 14 which is called Trio.
I also have 2 Tarot books for beginners, a novella (Witch Spelling), 2 novels (Serial Stalker & Restless Spectres), a book of 20 short murder stories, a book of 3 reincarnation shorts, a children’s dragon book & 2 poetry books.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My most recent novel is Serial Stalker & it was inspired by a dream, I woke up with the memory of a dream murder which I’ve made murder number 5 (the 1st chapter).
As in most dreams, part of it was illogical, it just couldn’t happen with a knife (as I saw it in the dream) so I had to change that to a shooting but as soon as I could get to my PC after waking, I trotted out the first 1000+ words of the story in record time.
As a pantser, I never know where a story will take me as it unfolds but as the beginning was so clear to me, it just went where it wanted to go from there.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I wouldn’t say unusual but sometimes I think of little snippets or ideas for the story I’m working on & put them in the manuscript below the part I’m writing, then see if they fit into the story later.
I’ll use them if I can, sometimes it could just be a word, a phrase or a paragraph, some need altering to fit, some just seem as though they were always meant to be there.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve written in several genres so I don’t really know if any in particular have influenced me more than any others. I think all authors may possibly be influenced by everything they’ve ever read, or seen, or heard.
My favourite books of all time though have to be The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings.
I love anything witchy too.
What are you working on now?
My WIP is non-fiction & is coming along nicely but will still take a while.
I’m hoping to have it completed & published before Christmas as it would be good for people to buy as presents (suitable for birthdays as well, not just Christmas).
I’m keeping that a little hush-hush for now, I don’t want too much competition before I’ve even published it.
There are others out there but I don’t think there are any exactly like mine. I hope not anyway.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I try promoting on my blog, Twitter, Facebook, occasional AMS ads (Amazon) & anywhere else that looks like it mifght help.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
When I first started to publish, I didn’t know what I didn’t know.
Since then, I’ve discovered so much that has helped me through hanging about in author’s forums.
My books are now much improved from my initial submissions, a lot have had new covers & I’ve reworked the formatting etc.
My best advice would be… learn as much as you can about every aspect of writing & publishing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write more books.
What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading a vampire story (Blood & Holy Water) which I’m enjoying.
What’s next for you as a writer?
After my WIP, I’m toying with the idea of a book 2 for Witch Spelling but that’s not a definite plan.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
That’s a difficult question as I usually only read a book once & I have several in my cloud reader library waiting for me.
I’d want something witchy, magical, epic fantasy, deliciously murderous or paranormal.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I paid my way through college by becoming a ghostwriter. One day I decided I didn’t want to go to work anymore and that I rather stay in my dorm room and work in my pajamas. Three years later, I’m still a ghostwriter, penning hundreds of books a year. Becoming the Storyteller, however, is the first book I’ve published under my own name. It’s a memoir about my family’s immigration story and something I could write volumes about but I think, for now, a hundred or so pages is more than enough.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest and first book is called Becoming the Storyteller. It was catalyzed by my grandmother’s death. She was the matriarch of the family, the focal point for advice and, of course, good story telling. When she died, I pitied all the stories that died with her. But I also pitied the “Storyteller.” Who would take her place now that she was gone? And, by writing, I guess I did.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I use a “focus timer.” 1,000 words every 25 minutes with a 5 minute break where I’ve been watching Gordon Ramsey almost religiously.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The series that made me fall in love with reading and writing was the Magyk Series by Angie Sage. My twelve year old self will eagerly agree that she had a serious crush on Septimus Heap. His story inspired me to start writing my own. In high school that writing was snuffed by coursework. In college, it was rekindled by a tremendous professor and great literature and I’m glad I got my degree in English.
What are you working on now?
Right now, I’m working on way too many things. A pet project I’ve had for a while is called Crimson Curse and it plays on the angel/demon struggle with a Young Adult lens. On a more mature level, I’m working on a story with my significant other that focuses on motherhood. Then, I keep ghostwriting romance novels to pay the bills.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I just started promoting books for the first time so I’d say Twitter.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just write. After all, a rough draft is better than no draft.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Write about the bears” or freewrite. When you can’t come up with the words you need, write the words you don’t. Freewriting has definitely been a blessing as it allows me to unload all the junk in my head so I can focus on building the stories I’m working on.
What are you reading now?
H.P. Lovecraft. As a Brown Graduate and a local to the Providence, Rhode Island area I thought it was about time I got around to his “weird” stories.
What’s next for you as a writer?
My next big project involves penning a story with my significant other. I want to make the project a success since I think it would be a charming lifestyle to write stories with the man I love.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
1. Bleak House by Dickens
2. Song of the Sparrow by Lisa Ann Sandell
3. Of Mice and Men by Steinbeck

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m an artist and an educator in the field of Visual Communication, As an educator, I write and publish in various professional and academic publications. As an artist, I write to reach a larger audience and share my enthusiasm for the work I’m involved in. For example, the “364-1 project” book ( https://www.amazon.com/s/field-keywords=9781367543645 ) relates to the evolution of a design over 365 days and what happens in an artist’s mind during the creative process.
Art inspired by science is a long tradition successfully represented by the like of Leonardo, and later Picasso. As scientists today are more likely to share their work in a format all can access electronically, it has become an endless source of inspiration for artists of all media, be it music, dance or visual art. It was my inspiration and sustained my effort for the book “52 grains of sand – Geometry of Nature” that explores and illustrate the geometry of 52 families of crystals based on the resources of a well-known Geoscience library and a scientific modeling software. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1388881535/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i9
I write both to introduce my visual work in its context and to encourage the reader to join me in a multifaceted celebration. The goal of the Math-Art series ( http://bit.ly/JCGBooks ), now at #8, is an open invitation to join me in the pleasure of discovering the wealth and beauty of the seen-unseen universe, regardless of age, background, and education.
As many visual artists, I have long been reluctant to discuss my work in the written format because of the respect I have for the individual perception and experience of the viewer. However, over time, I realized that rather than impede in the free and spontaneous appreciation of an artwork, the explaining of its background and origin, far from distracting, complements and deepens the quality of the reader’s experience and makes my writing more meaningful as well.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The latest volume I wrote for the Math-Art series is titled “The Quaste quandary”. Quaste is a German word whose closest translation English would be a tassel. The name of this unusual geometry shape shows that mathematicians know sometime how not to take themselves too seriously. It also points to the unexpected beauty of many mundane objects around us, be it a knot — or a tassel for that matter.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Writing is an art unto itself. It is also a communication tool. I am an unusual writer. I do not write stories, I write about stories, stories already fully formed as images before the reader’s eye. However, I do not write as an art critic to discuss form, technique, and composition. I write about the content of the image, its origin, the process I go through to complete it. In doing so, I use language as a tool to offer readers an additional layer of information they can use to enrich their viewing and reading experience.
Writing is often a painful and demanding challenge for me. Whereas as a visual artist, a white canvas is my imagination needs to start bubbling and percolating, thinking about a white page I must fill with words is enough to freeze and block me even before I even start. To compensate that serious handicap, I copiously add pages after pages with volumes of background material I collect from various sources and that deal with the topic I’m working on. When ready, I get back into it like an editor, cutting, pasting, rearranging sentences until I find my own voice, my own rhythm.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Russian painter and author Wassily Kandinsky influenced me in many ways. His coherent and attractive perspective encouraged me to question and explore anew my visual environment. Furthermore, Kandinsky was also a trained lawyer. His approach to communication carries the rigor and clarity of reasoning of the legal profession. Something I try to follow both to clarify my thoughts relating to art, and in my own writing as well.
In addition, I could quote Paul Klee, his writing is as poetic as his art, D. Hofstadter for his persuasive demonstration of the many connections between science and art. Many other encouraged and inspired me, poets from Homer or Virgil to Hölderlin in Europe or Whitman on this continent, and many others, writers, novelists, journalists I can’t remember by name, but still carry with me somewhere, because they marked or influenced my work, my life, and who I am today.
What are you working on now?
Right now, I’m working on putting together the material for volume #9 and volume #10 of the Math-Art series. The first has to do with Sangaku, a fascinating and unique Japanese tradition that blends geometry, art and Japanese culture of the Edo era. The second has to do with a visual exploration of pattern recognition after the remarkable work of Russian scientist Bongard. A methodology that can be applied just as well in cognitive science, visual arts, and literature.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
As a producer of content, I have very little time for promoting my work properly. I do have a website, publish in the Apple Store, GooglePlay, and Kindle. Ultimately I believe publishing is a collective effort, and promotion is a full-time professional commitment. I see myself as only one element of a much larger process. That’s why I’m glad to assist when I can. Completing this interview is one. Such opportunity not only aids me to clarify for myself what I do and where I stand in the supply chain but hopefully will generate additional support and advice.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Reactivating several articles that have been gathering dust on my desk and waiting to be published and prepare the text of a lecture on Geometry of Nature I will be giving next month at an applied science conference in Crete – which led me to promote volume #4 of the math-Art series – The Riemann conundrum s that celebrates 4th dimensional geometry and the art of Crete. The book will be available for free, August 27-Sept 3 @ http://bit.ly/RiemannManifolds
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Simplify, simplify, simplify. I don’t believe Marcel Proust would have the slightest chance to be published today. It is not a matter of quality, it is a matter of context. Society changes, so its language, It is not surprising that the best film scriptwriters are also excellent authors. Visual and audio exchanges create the rhythm of modern communication. Literature again has to adapt to this environment — which curiously brings us back to Homer. As we all remember, before written, his poetry was first memorized and told orally from village to village. Yet to this day, it still stands as a significant volume in the world literature.
What are you reading now?
I’m about to start the Mathematics of the modernist villa by Ostwald and Dawes, an intriguing approach to the work of Frank Lloyd Wright, Mies Van de Roe, and other modernist architects. Books can be entertaining, educational, inspiring. When they carry these 3 components, it satisfies in me the short time I can afford reading and listening and encourages me to look for a new perspective in my own work.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I am privileged in the sense that meaningful books I read many years ago are still populating recesses of my memory. Additionally, I don’t have that disposition that makes some of us enjoy seeing the same movie over and again. My choice would definitely look toward the future rather than the past. As I mentioned earlier probably Kandinsky On the Spiritual in Art, food for the mind as well as the senses, maybe the Eneid, a very, very long poem that could occupy many nights and last a book that would keep me occupied for many months and more: the Sanpo Jojutsu, a volume of Japanese Sangaku problems published originally in the mid-1800s, that encompass the basis of universal, Euclidian geometry and the beauty of art sustained by sound observation of natures

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an author and independent publisher of fourteen books in all age brackets. My stories span the spectrum of Romantic Fiction from historical, paranormal, romantic suspense to Christian fantasy including the best-selling Angel Covenant Series.
Educated as a teacher I never lost my love for literature and began writing at an early age. Poetry, short stories and fiction. I can be found daily in the car rider line waiting on one of my three children and working on a manuscript. A Virginia girl at heart, I lives with my husband and children in South Carolina where I a currently studying Dragon Script with my ten year old daughter.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Stolen Dreams. It was inspired by a dream about a young woman deciding to come to America as a mail-order bride only to discover she is part of a trafficking plot to sell women from all over the world to the highest bidder. Stolen dreams has action, adventure, romance and a happy ending.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m not sure what would be “normal” for a writer. If anyone sat at our dinner table with us at night as my family discusses the newest story or scene I am crafting they would probably think we were crazy! That may be the most unusual habit, including my family in the creative process. Though, I think its great for the kids to watch history come alive as I drag them into the current story with me.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love Dean Koontz. His ability to craft, action and romance with horror and suspense is a huge influence for me. I also love Julie Garwood. Her ability to make you feel every emotion is something I strive for in my books.
What are you working on now?
Book 3 in The Rivers Brothers series. Each brother will have a book. I’m also hard at work on a christian romance as well as a children’s book called “The Wishing Pumpkin.”
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have found that cross-promotion is the key. You can’t count on any one sight to do it for you. As independent authors we are swimming upstream against a strong current. It is through Pinterest ads, facebook ads, and individual sights like Awesome Gang where I find my best response.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t stop writing and don’t give up. Trust your voice and you will find your readers.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write, every day, and never stop. We grow better with each story, with each word and be proud of each accomplishment.
What are you reading now?
Fool’s Assassin: Book 1 by Robin Hobb
My thirteen year old is reading it and I like to keep up with what he’s into.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m working on so many projects but the one I’m most excited about is my children book. It is a new process for me and I love children. Reading to my kids was one of my favorite past-times when they were little. Writing for children, to watch the magic light them up…that’s exciting for me.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am 22 years old, a coach, and a history teacher. I consider myself ambitious and confident, but above all, content with myself and my development. I look forward to utilizing young adulthood as a means by which I can grow into who I want to be.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Applied Liberal Arts: Self-Growth.
This book was inspired by my love of the liberal arts education, which prioritizes the development of learning processes over specific knowledge. The book really is the embodiment of a learning passion applied to all facets of life.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
At times in my life, I have used writing therapeutically. Since I was 17, I have always had at least 1 unopened letter I sent to myself waiting in an envelope in my “Goals” binder. The open date on these time capsules normally ranges from 3-12 months, but a couple exceeded as much as 10 years.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I like to think there is a little bit of everything I’ve ever read in my writing, if not directly, then in a way that has influenced my mind. While it certainly isn’t the style of writing I utilized with this book, I hope one day to be able to replicate the elegance of C.S. Lewis’ simplified philosophy in “Mere Christianity.” I find his work brilliant.
What are you working on now?
Teaching and coaching! Ahhhh!!! It’s my first year doing either and the stress has been tremendous. I will be able to devote more time to future projects over the summer. Then, once I will have gained a firmer grasp of my job, I will be able to more consistently devote time to writing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
It isn’t really advice, but kind of a guiding motto that I like to refer to when I need motivation: “If I stopped growing tomorrow, is this the person I would want to be for the rest of my life?”
What are you reading now?
Citizen: An American Lyric
*Highly recommended**
