Awesome Author - Darcy Deming

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My idea of a perfect day is sliding out of bed early and into my favorite jeans and t-shirt, grabbing my backpack full of magical things, picking up my walking stick and heading out into the mountains of southern Arizona with my Labrador, Sol, trotting by my side gracefully.

We meander through washes and ravines as our trail slowly ascends upward to a destination high up on the side of a mountain. The breeze starts to blow and the Ocotillo cactus with it’s long, strange arms begin to clatter in the wind, matching my footsteps.

Something moves across the trail up ahead, and I request that Sol wait… for we don’t know who has come to visit. If it’s a rattlesnake, I would prefer that he stay away. Today, it is a friend, a lovely Gila Monster who I have visited with many times before. We stop, offer the shaman of the animal world a drink of water and some blue corn meal… Then, we sit quietly and see what the wise one has to say.

The clouds begin to thicken as we continue to climb, scrambling through this brush and large rocks as our ascent gets more difficult. Finally we crest and reach the landing on the side of the mountain that we so desired. The view spans for hundreds of miles to the southwest. Off in the distance the sky is dark and squiggly lines of light decorate the sky with a rumbling hum in the background… a storm is brewing.

After enjoying a little snack of nuts, of which Sol eats most of, we gather up out things and head back down the trail and arrive at our mountain top home just in time to enjoy breakfast with my husband, Mike.

A quick glance at emails, and I’ve already had enough technology for the day. I disappear into the studio for a full day of painting – I’m working on the cover for the second book in the Sage Stone series. Sol and his brother, Tug, curl up around my feet as I paint and sing along to the music on the radio.

The storm misses us and the day gets very hot about 3pm. I clean everything up in the studio, put the dogs in their pen and head off for an afternoon of play in the pool… This is the way life should be and I cherish every minute… Tonight, perhaps another Chapter for book two will be shared with me, so that I can share it with you.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Sage Stone – The Magic Between the World that was inspired by a trip to a sacred cave on a mountain that is considered to be the center of the universe by the indigenous people of the area… it was while I was laying on the ashen floor of this cave where I was told the name of the book and the importance of getting it out into the world… “the children need to re-member the old ways.”

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write when I receive information… this always comes in as Chapters and I never know which will be the first or last, I have to be patient and wait… for the story reveals itself to me, then I string it together and walla!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
My favorite book in the whole world is called, Dandelion, The Extraordinary Life of a Misfit by Sheelagh Mawe

What are you working on now?
Book Two in the series… this ones going to be very cool!

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have a gallery in Tubac, AZ and so I sell a lot of books to my customers… They love to hear about what inspired me and many are taking courses with me now. Just keep trying!

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Do it your way… I don’t plot things out, do outlines and all that stuff… I just write my way and what comes naturally to me…

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I ever got was to keep asking, “What if?” It created lots of fun twists and turns to my story…

What are you reading now?
Nothing, at the moment I’m doing a lot of research in preparation for a trip to the Jemez and Santa Domingo Pueblos for their dances and feasts, then Monument valley and finishing meeting some old friends at Hopi… more inspiration… please!

What’s next for you as a writer?
I will continue the Sage Stone series, for as long as the spirit moves me to do so. I am also opening a special ranch here in Arizona where people will be invited to come and spend time awakening themselves to their own possibilities..

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Mine would all be blank books… so I can draw and write.

Awesome Author - Kaila Glass

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m 21 and I live in Atlanta, Georgia. Good Nerd Hunting is my first book, my pride and joy. For years, I dreamed of writing a full-length novel. Mission accomplished!

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Good Nerd Hunting is my debut book, the first book in the Nerds, Inc. series. It’s a play on the movie title Good Will Hunting. I’ve never even seen that movie or know what it’s about, but my protagonist, Blake, must survive Nerd Hunting Season; so, it seemed right to name the first chapter Good Nerd Hunting. The original title of my book was The Nerd, the Baby, and the Toothbrush, but my beta reader, Stu, convinced me otherwise.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
When I write my first draft, I usually have a set of characters in mind. However, I tend to create new characters out of the blue while I’m writing. I give them a backstory, unique facial features, and everything! Then, when I’m editing, I have to take them out because they drag my story. Such a pain.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I don’t want to sound cliched, but J. K. Rowling influences me every day. It’s my dream to create a entire universe filled with unique, beloved characters that keep my readers coming back for more. I want to create the same experience I had when I read Harry Potter as a kid (I’m only 21, so I guess you could still call me a kid): the laughs, the thrills, the heartache. I want my fans to recite their favorite lines, debate who’s the best character, predict what will happen in the next book, wear shirts sporting the series’ logo. It’s not just a book to me: it’s everything.

What are you working on now?
Currently, I’m working on a prequel to the Nerds, Inc. series. When I finish it over the next month or so, I’ll give it away for free on my website. Then, I’ll work on the second book in the series. I can’t wait to thrill my readers with a must-read series prequel!

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m not sure. I’ve never promoted a book before!

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Grow some thick skin and give the people what they want. I learned this same lesson while working as a parking attendant in Atlanta. Those customers can be really mean!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I have no idea. That’s like asking me what my favorite anime is. It’s an impossible question to answer because there are so many possible answers!

What are you reading now?
The Story Works Guide to Writing Character by Alida Winterheimer. All great stories have great characters.

What’s next for you as a writer?
The world! I mean it. I’m going to create an empire with my books. I’ll have merch, shows, movie adaptations, video games, the works!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I only need two: a book on how to survive on a deserted island and a quick guide on how to escape a deserted island. Boom!

Awesome Author - Stefan Vučak

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written eight Shadow Gods Saga hard sci-fi novels, and six contemporary political drama books. I started writing science fiction while still in college, but didn’t get published until 2001. My Cry of Eagles won the coveted 2011 Readers’ Favorite silver medal award, and All the Evils was the 2013 prestigious Eric Hoffer contest finalist and Readers’ Favorite silver medal winner. Strike for Honor won the gold medal. Legitimate Power is a 2017 Book Excellence Awards finalist.

I leveraged a successful career in the Information Technology industry, which took me to the Middle East working on cellphone systems. I applied my IT discipline to create realistic storylines for my books. Writing has been a road of discovery, helping me broaden my horizons. I also spend time as an editor and book reviewer. I live in Melbourne, Australia.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Lifeliners came from a short stroy I wrote using the same name, and the theme came to me while on a plane to Europe. I carry my notebook whenever I travel to capture gems of inspiration, which sometime turn out to be paste diamonds.

Lifeliners deals with people who are able to draw energy from another person. They are the next step in man’s evolution, and nature’s mechanism to enable humans to cope with the high pressure Western lifestyle. Predictably, they are seen as a threat and governments around the world seek to eradicate them. Read a sample chapter on my website: https://www.stefanvucak.com/books/lifeliners

Having written the short story, the concept kept circulating in my mind. I finally decided that the story would make a good book. At least I hope readers will find it so. Lifeliners is due for release in September. I have to finish writing it first, but I am almost there.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Unusual only inasmuch that I am a morning person, and I do some of my best writing while most people are still in bed. That is a generalization, as I write whenever the urge prods me.

I always write longhand on a pad and trsnascribe the work to my computer, editing as I go along. I tried writing directly into the computer, but that just doesn’t work for me. Unusual…perhaps.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
That makes a long list, as I am an avid reader with a collection of over 900 books, not counting those I have reviewed for other authors.

My interest spans many genres: English/French naval wars, techno thrillers, hard science fiction, historical drama, contemporary politics, and all sciences. Some of the authors who have made an impression include:
Robert A. Heinlein
Larry Niven
Dale Brown
Stephen Coonts
Roger Zelazny
Mary Stewart
Francis Fukuyama

The list goes on.

What are you working on now?

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Like other authors, I prediminantly use social media like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Goodreads.

Having found Awesome Gang, I hope listing my books there will contribute to increasing my visibility.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
If there is one thing I learned over the years as a writer, if anyone is contemplating taking this on seriously, he or she should be prepared to spend many lonely hours with a pencil and paper, and sitting behind a computer screen. There will be disappointments, frustration, angst … and moments of sheer exhilaration and satisfaction when the words flow and the creative process produces something wonderful. Writing is a gift, but it can also be a curse. But once bitten with the urge to create, there is no cure.

Technically, I would advise new writers to master the art of editing and becoming their worst critic. Don’t get attached to your writing, and be prepared to chop words, sentences, and paragraphs that don’t contribute something to the story. When getting a review, accept criticism! Have a glass of bourbon and get on with it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never give up!

If a writer has that fire of creation burning inside, regardless of what might be happening in life, don’t let the fire smoulder and go out. Share your vision with others.

What are you reading now?
I just finished reading Singularity, book three of Ian Douglas Star Carrier trilogy. I found it somewhat entertaining, but not overly exciting.

Right now, I am reviewing The Kuiper Belt Deception by Donald F. Averill for Reader’s Favorite.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Having written six contemporary political drama/thriller novels, I feel I need a break from this genre. I have a concept for another Shadow Gods Saga novel, but I want the idea to mature before I put some serious work into it.

But first, I want to release Lifeliners and clear my mind and recharge the batteries for a couple of months before tackling another book project.

We shall see what develops.

Awesome Author - T.G. Neal

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I completed my first novella at 13 years old and was mentored through the process by Sena Jeter Naslund, boosting my confidence. I never pushed to publish it after editing, even though I should have gone onward with it. Since then, I’ve written hundreds of short stories, always just shy of publishing them. Most recently, I had my fill of not following through, and I just finished writing Drachenara, my first full-length novel, and first I’ve pushed all the way to publishing. At 106k words and roughly 330 pages, Drachenara is my pride and joy, and I have every intention of putting sequels out just down the road.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Drachenara. I’ve always been a big fan of sword and sorcery stuff, mostly the adventuring aspect of it. I grew up reading books about big adventures, and playing games that were all about magic, knights, paladins, and hunters. I think it was coming up with personal character backstories that led me to create Drachenara. It exists in a world that I, alone, control, and the characters are these fanciful beings that I adore.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Music, but I don’t think it’s unusual. I like to sit down with a cup of coffee (especially in the morning) and turn on music from my favorite fantasy movies and games, and just pound out a couple thousand words.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
In a world where I might compare? Tolkien, Terry Goodkind, Christie Golden, and Troy Denning. Maybe a dash of RA Salvatore, and a little sprinkle of George R.R. Martin, but don’t let that scare you.

What are you working on now?
The sequel to Drachenara, as well as a couple of short stories from the universe.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
At this point, I’m sort of undecided. We’ll see how it plays out.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
You’re probably as new as I am, but just keep writing. Write, write, write. If someone tells you that you’re not good enough, you are. If you feel discouraged, put a few words down on the screen. Latch on to your inspirations, find a muse, and write. JUST WRITE!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
What I shared above. Just keep writing.

What are you reading now?
Before the Storm, by Christie Golden. I love her Warcraft books.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Continuing the saga in the world I’ve created.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Where is Joe Merchant, by Jimmy Buffet. The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien. And the last one is a tough decision; maybe the Bible. There’s a lot of positive reading in there.

Awesome Author - Ashli & Trisha Edwards

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
We are a twin author team. We’ve been inseparable since birth. Making use of this built-in connection, we’ve been working and writing together most of our lives. Ashli has the creative mind while Trisha is logic and psychology. We’ve completed four books, Athena and a trilogy soon to be released, with many, many more to come.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Athena Goddess of Heroes and the eight book Olympus Earthed Series were inspired by our Greek mythology classes in college. We asked ourselves one important questions and the world of Olympus Earthed was born; what would the Greek gods be like today?

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Is it considered unusual to write in an assembly line? Ashli writes the first draft, no outline necessary. Trisha goes next and fills in any blanks. Then Ashli reads it again and changes a bunch of stuff back that Trisha changed. They argue and find the perfect balance in the end. Edit and the book is complete.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
We love the classics like the Iliad by Homer and Pride and Prejudiced by Jane Austen. Ashli adores Shakespeare, but Trisha has no idea why. But it’s really the authors of Fantasy that have ignited this passion and influenced our writing style. From J.R.R. Tolkien to J.K. Rowling to Marissa Meyer, the worlds that fantasy authors create are designed to spark imagination and ignite a belief in magic. We took what they offered and learned to offer it as well.

What are you working on now?
Currently, we are working on a rewrite. What’s old is becoming new again. The first book Ashli ever completed is the first in the Silver’s Bane trilogy. Because it was written ten years ago, it is a bit outdated. We are modernizing it and infusing it with a decade of developed skill. This full series will be available soon!

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
We are active on Facebook and Instagram with Twitter coming in at third place. We can also be found on our website.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write a lot. And no matter what, keep writing. Do this and you will find yourself as well as your writing style. But overall, never stop fighting for your dreams. Never give up, never back down. For it is those that push past their failures and setbacks who truly succeed.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Someone once asked us: what do you want now vs. what do you want most? Writing is a career path where hours of work comes before a single sale. It takes sacrifice, commitment, and a lot of time. This advice keeps us moving forward every day.

What are you reading now?
Nothing. We don’t have time to read during this particular phase in life. Unless you count Athena being read for the thousandths time. Starting a new career takes many hours. We are working twelve-hour days right now. However, we can tell you what is on our list of future must read. Burning World by Issac Marion is top on Ashli’s list and Trisha is neck deep in academic psychological studies.

What’s next for you as a writer?
The three books in the Silver’s Bane Trilogy. Then on to Dionysus: God of Wine. Followed by the first book in a new urban fantasy series. And there is a Silver’s Bane prequel in there somewhere too. Along with the next 6 books in the Olympus Earthed Series, a spin-off series and several novellas along the way. We are truly just getting started!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Harry Potter, Surviving Being Stranded on a Desert Island for Dummies, and How to Build a Raft.

Awesome Author - David Gillon

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Whilst I have only written one book, I have worked extensively for newspapers and magazines. I’ve always enjoyed writing and have always aimed to write a book, ever since my mum bought me a typewriter for my 7th birthday. Aside from print, I’ve also written a short, independent film which was ultimately produced and played in a local festival.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called When Kingdoms Collide and it was inspired by my friend who questioned why people literally interpret the bible, despite it originated 2000 years ago. This got me thinking about what might happen if people discovered books thousands of years from now, with no prior knowledge, and treat all of them as being entirely true – developing their entire civilisations and customs around fictional books such as Dracula and the Phantom of the Opera.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Although I doubt it’s an unusual habit, I do actually like to write the book out with minimal description and dialogue, so it’s very much just a skeleton story. From there, I flesh out the story and add any bits I feel improve it as I go.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
My favourite author is James Herbert and I thoroughly enjoy the way he builds tension in his books. I also enjoy reading books that have been developed into movies (oddly enough I prefer to watch the movie first) and I think I like to try and imagine how my book might look if it was adapted for the big screen, so I think writers such as Peter Benchley and Michael Crichton, who have made very visual books, have had a big influence on my writing style.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on a little side-project that I’m writing just for fun. It’s inspired by books such as Jaws and Beast (Peter Benchley) and the computer game Tomb Raider. It’s about a group of archaeologists who are exploring a mysterious temple and, once inside, they trigger a mechanism which floods the corridors and unleashes a monstrous crocodile into the tomb – leaving them to fight for their lives as they avoid the creature and several elaborate traps scattered throughout the temple.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
As I’m quite new to the self-publishing game, I’m not too sure what to write here if I’m totally honest. I have been researching and the Kindlepreneur website is a good resource, but otherwise I’m just using social media at the moment.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write!

I know it might sound obvious, but so many people (myself included for a long time) begin to write a story and focus on adding wonderful descriptions, interesting dialogue and huge set-pieces and then lose interest because it’s taking so long to get to the end. To counter this, I simply write the story out and then flesh it out.

I’d also say to just keep plugging away and focus on the enjoyment you get from writing rather than the potential rewards. Writing should be something which helps you to relax and flex your creative muscles, not something which is a major source of stress.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“The character of a man can be judged by how he treats those who can’t harm him.” It’s a mantra I live my life by, and I feel that it’s important to treat everybody equally and with warmth.

However, if you’re asking specifically about advice related to writing, the best I’ve ever received was to avoid “chasing butterflies.” Basically, if you have a story, make sure you finish it before jumping onto another idea.

What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading The Relic, which the movie was based on. I’m enjoying the book and hope to finish it over the school holidays – whilst sitting in my garden with a cool glass of cider!

What’s next for you as a writer?
After I finish my pet project, I plan to write the sequel to When Kingdoms Collide. It’s a series I feel passionate about and hope that I can continue to evolve the story in a unique and exciting way.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Domain by James Herbert, Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton, Moneyball by Michael Lewis and The Count of Monte Cristo by Alxander Dumas.

This would give me my fix of horror, dinosaurs, sport and classic literature – four things I love!

Awesome Author - Mary Elizabeth Fricke

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
This may be old news to some as I have done several of these interviews. This is more or less an update. My official bio: Mary Elizabeth Fricke has lived her entire life within five miles of the Missouri River. She and her husband of 37 years have lived 34 of those years on a farm that has been consistently owned and operated by his family for five generations. They have two grown sons married to wonderful women and two beautiful grandchildren.
A graduate of the Writer’s Institute of America and a member of the Heartland Writers Guild, she has published a number of articles in various forums and magazines, as well as Dino, Godzilla and the Pigs, My Life on Our Missouri Hog Farm. She is also a prolific ghostwriter.
Her stories, based in rural mid-western areas, concern the unique but quickly vanishing way of life on the family farm as well as other mysterious intricacies that evolve life from generation to generation. Romance is her preferred genre.

Previously published in the Birds the Peril Series:
Pigeon in a Snare (Lisa’s story)
Roses for the Sparrow (Jani’s story)
Plight of the Wren (Susie’s story)
Robin Unaware (Stephanie’s story)

Sept. 3, 2017: Demise of Innocence (Sweet Pea I)
Oct. 7, 2017: Time to Deceive (Sweet Pea II)
Nov. 30, 2017: The Price of Passion (Sweet Pea III)

‘Sweet Pea’ Gift Set (Books I, II, III) was published Feb. 2018

All are available from Amazon Kindle Select

The only connection between The Sweet Pea Trilogy and the Birds in Peril Series is their central Missouri location. All characters and most places are fiction.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Sweet Pea is a story I began in 1976. At that time the trends, practices were the current style. I kept those over the years as I rewrote, rewrote, and rewrote the story. Finally, the fall of 2017 I published Sweet Pea as a trilogy because I believed it was too long to be a single cover story. By Feb. 2018, I’d changed my mind. So I published the entire trilogy as a book set under one cover (for Valentines Day). All are available as Amazon e-books. Whatever the reader wants.
The official blurb for Sweet Pea:
To one man she gave her virginity; to another, she gave her heart. One, she would mourn. With the other, she would share life’s triumph and turmoil. With both, she would endure times of love, and passion and complete happiness as well as times of despair, confusion, and sorrow. One day at a time—each day, building unforgettable memories.
Sweet Pea I: The Demise of Innocence (1968-70): At seventeen Johnie is no longer a child but still full of virgin innocence—and defiance. She quickly learns growing up involves a lot more than physical loss of her virginity.
Sweet Pea II: Time to Deceive (1973-74) Johnie’s dream of happiness becomes a nightmare where Brenda cackles while Johnie boils naked in a cauldron of pea green soup.
Sweet Pea III: The Price of Passion (1984-1990) A secret part of Johnie’s soul survives nurturing the memory of Jake. Fate strikes several more dramatic blows and once again, everything changes.

Sweet Pea spans from the late 1960’s into 2009. Set in rural Missouri, it is a story for those who remember the profound cultural changes and historical events that took place in the later part of the 20th Century. It is is a nostalgic story of growing up; of forging lifelong friendships and loyalty within family that supports every life event, good or bad. It is a story of love that binds a man and a woman despite all odds. It is also a story of obsessive hatred and how such hatred destroys not only the innocent, but those who hate.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m a night owl. Is that unusual? Primarily, whatever scenes (mind movies) stick in my brain the longest tend to become whole stories.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
My reading habits are eclectic. I read more romance than anything but I like science fiction, paranormal and historical too. The list of what I have read is so long I’m not sure I can remember all the books I’ve read. Erma Bombeck was a favorite for non-fiction. I’ve read several biographies of all kinds. Favorite fiction authors include Sandra Brown, Nora Roberts, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Kim Harrison, Newt Gingrich and John Bowers.

What are you working on now?
Right now I’m trying to complete #5 Wise, Bold Eagle and #6 Bluebird of Happiness of my Birds in Peril Series. The two stories are so entwined (but with separate primary characters for each story) I’m working on them together. It will be a while before they are published.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Websites such as these go a long way to promoting books. Amazon does a lot but I always fill out these kinds of interviews and keep them updated to accompany any promo/advertisements listing my published books.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just do it. No one can take those words from your head and place them on paper/computer screen but you. The first draft is always the most difficult. After that, the work is just improving something you have already written.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Finish it! Advice given to me many years ago from a popular romance author who has become a dear friend.

What are you reading now?
Right now I’m doing some beta reading for fellow authors. Their work is not yet published so I won’t name them or the stories I am reading.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Finish the Birds in Peril Series. I have another manuscript I wrote in the 80’s but never tried to publish. I recently edited and updated it. So when the Birds are published, I intend to polish that story and publish it as well. After that, I still say that someday I’m going to write my mother’s story. I have her diary but I intend to write the story as fiction. Maybe after all these half-done stories are finished/published I’ll finally try work on Mom’s story.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
My Bible, my Kindle (because it’s loaded with about 30 some books) and pray its battery holds up for a long time.

Awesome Author - Joey Lynn Resciniti

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a wife, mother, and writer.

I live North of Pittsburgh in a township populated by an extraordinary number of pizza shops. I married my high school sweetheart (it still counts even though we went to different high schools) in 2002. We have one daughter and two shih tzus called Luke & Leia. We’re not as into Star Wars as our pet name choices suggest!

I started my blog, Big Teeth & Clouds (http://bigteethclouds.blogspot.com) in 2009, but I stopped blogging almost entirely from the spring of 2011 until winter of 2014. I was almost famous once for writing about Eggo waffles. In the summer of 2017, I published my first novel, No Room for Hondo. The story is deeply personal, a fictionalized account of my struggles with postpartum psychosis after the birth of my daughter.

My daughter has moderate-severe sensorineural hearing loss. I wrote a book that chronicles our experiences with hearing aids called Magic Ear Kids.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book, Magic Ear Kids, is named for the fun moniker my daughter’s first audiologist gave her brand new hearing aids. “These are your new ‘magic ears,’” she said. We called the hearing aids magic ears for years and all the kids we knew that wore hearing aids were “Magic Ear Kids.” The book is a compilation of stories about parenting a child with hearing loss.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m not sure it’s unusual, but I write a significant amount of blog posts and story ideas in the notes app on my iPad. Writing this way takes me way longer than it would to go to my laptop, but I find myself doing it all the time.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I thought I was a big fan of Charles Dickens until I introduced my daughter to his work. She is a Dickens fanatic and I now doubt my ability to appreciate anything that much.

I do enjoy rich language that begs to be read aloud. I’m most inspired by realistic stories.

What are you working on now?
I’m working on an as yet untitled novel about a middle school language arts teacher. She is miserable and begins working toward a more fulfilling life after an incident of very poor judgement regarding a student with special needs.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m hoping it will be awesome gang.com!

Do you have any advice for new authors?
If you are confident in your work, let it show.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
It’s not having what you want, it’s wanting what you have.

That’s life advice right there.

What are you reading now?
What Unites Us by Dan Rather
Effigy by M.J. Fifield

What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope to finish my work in progress and continue to promote my two published books. I’m going to an author festival in September.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
The Bible

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a 70-year-old survivor of child abuse, and I had my first book published in January 2018.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My first book is entitled “Pieces: Help for Your Life Journey.” I want this book to be of help to other child abuse survivors who are looking for ways out of the darkness and oppression of past traumas.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know if it’s unusual or not, but I wrote about half the contents of the book over 10 years ago, but finally decided to turn it into a book late in 2017.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Louise Hay (a child abuse survivor)

What are you working on now?
I am planning a “Living a Joyous Life Workshop” Tour, starting in the Pacific Northwest in the Fall of 2018. The two-hour workshop is for anyone who is stuck living the same day over and over, or feels that they don’t deserve a better life than the one they have now. I use a multi-media approach to uplift people, and let them see themselves as lovable, capable of being happy, and Living a Joyous Life of their own making.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My website is www.megan-erin-galloway.com

Do you have any advice for new authors?
If a book is too intimidating, start by journaling – on any topic. Get the flow of words going, play with words and phrases, and express yourself freely. Not all of the journaling will turn into a book, but you are letting your voice shout out. Soon, your journaling may result in sequential thoughts that beg to be written as a blog and/or published as a book. Every person is unique and each of us has a story to share with others. You will find your story, eager to be expressed.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t give up HOPE!

What are you reading now?
I like the works of Esther Hicks and Abraham-Hicks, and read their books and articles, and listen to their YouTube videos.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I believe that a second book will come out of the “Living a Joyous Life Workshop” Tour.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

Awesome Author - ML Nystrom

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m newbie to the author world, even at my age of 52. So far I’ve written five books, published two with the others on the way. I have several dozen working at any time in my head and I hope to eventually get them all on paper.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest published book is Stud, Book 2 of the Dragon Runners series. This book and several more after it, was inspired by the character that appeared in the first book. I could hear their story wanting to be told.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’ll get in a writing zone and can go for hours. Other times, I sit in front of the screen and wait for motivation.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve enjoyed modern authors like Kristen Ashely, Bella Jewel, Cora Brent, and other like them.

What are you working on now?
I just finished the first round of edits on Blue, Book 3 of the Dragon Runners series and also the first draft of Table book 4 in the same series. Connor is a fifth book that is more of a stand alone but had the some of the characters of the Dragon Runners world.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Amazon is one of the big platforms, along with Facebook and Bookbub.com

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Get a good editor and some good beta readers and don’t be afraid to take their advice!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Same. Get a good editor and some good beta readers.

What are you reading now?
Conquest by Justine Littleton

What’s next for you as a writer?
Maybe another series, or maybe another genre. I’ll know when I get there!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

Awesome Author - Hayley Bi

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born in Hong Kong and immigrated to British Columbia, Canada, when I was eighteen. Since English is not my first language and my proficiency in the language wasn’t up to par for enrolling in University program at the beginning, I needed to register in a few ESL programs. After years of hard work, I graduated from Simon Fraser University with a degree in psychology and a certificate in family studies. I can’t emphasize enough that upgrading myself is far more valuable than upgrading my cell phone. And with that motto in mind, once in a while, I’d like to spare some of my precious time to learn something new. Over time, I found myself accumulated a diploma in counseling and a diploma in makeup artistry. Writing, getting my book published, and now stumbling along the promotion phase – they all proved to be a hefty but sweat-worthy learning process than originally anticipated. This learning process will likely to keep me occupied for many months to come.

My Supernatural Encounter with the Orange Being is my debut into the literary world. It is a memoir with a supernatural theme. If you like true stories – about life after death, spirits and ghosts, paranormal sights, prophetic dreams, possession, haunting, sixth-sense and spirituality – you will love this book.

In this supernaturally charged memoir, I chronicle my experiences from childhood onward, with many hard-to-believe stories such as learning my sister was possessed and given away, using a Ouija board to communicate with the dead, camping in a haunted area in Hong Kong, and gradually realizing I had been gifted with a sixth sense. My gift allowed me to know about an upcoming fire in my apartment building, hear the voice of my car accident, and encounter unbelievable sights such as an orange being, I also share how I found gratitude for the important messages communicated to me through dreams.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My Supernatural Encounter with the Orange Being: True Stories and Experiences with Unworldly Entities and the Unexplained – is my first and latest book.

The reasons I wrote this book were shared in chapter one. I wasn’t inspired by anyone or anything in particular, it felt more like an array of unmistakable divine signals shooting toward my direction, and my radar was able to detect them. After I picked up all the three signs – the sense of urgency, the voice telling me to write, and the hint from the sticking-out notepad that reminded me of an online ebook course I once took, a flush of ideas cascaded down to me one night. I quickly wrote down all the chapter titles on my phone and that was how my book was conceived.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I wrote almost my whole book on my cell phone. Being able to write spontaneously is important to me. I can write anywhere and I don’t have any particular writing rituals, I just write when ideas hit.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I read 90% non-fiction with a focus in the realm of supernatural. My favourite author is Lorna Byrne. She is able to see angels daily and it’s her who introduces me to the inner workings of the angelic world.

What are you working on now?
I am contemplating on writing a second book which is also about my personal experiences with the supernatural world. Again, I will include as many of my own illustrations as my publisher allows. I don’t have a timeline for when I need to finish. But stay tune, I write whenever I feel like it. Sometimes, I write in supersonic speed and sometimes in snail pace. And readers, you can always cheer me on, that may help me to write a little bit faster.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Joining writer’s groups and reading about what’s going on with other writers help me stay in the loop. Occasionally, someone may post a question that is applicable to me and I can learn new resources that way. Collaborating with book review bloggers and googling websites that allow you to submit your book for free or for a fee are some of the useful channels I have employed. Submitting news releases through PR websites is pretty helpful to get some needed attention too.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
You don’t need to be perfect, you just need to be brave – brave to try new things, brave to admit your mistakes and brave to embrace your challenges. Keep learning is my motto and I like to share that with everyone. There are so much to learn in the writing, publishing and marketing processes. No matter what you have encountered – ups or downs – march forward. Embrace the downs because they’re part of the learning process. Don’t forget to celebrate and pat yourself in the back if you are on the “ups” side.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t focus on just one person’s negative opinion.

What are you reading now?
I am reading “Driving Miss Norma” right now. It’s the kind of book that makes you think about mortality, not necessarily in a bad way.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Getting ready to write my second book. That readiness doesn’t seem to be anywhere close as long as I am still feeling distracted by all the summer traveling.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
All I need to bring are my e-reader which can load up lots of books and my power bank for recharging. It will be easier than bringing 3 or 4 books. I probably need books on survival, spirituality, and something to cheer me up. Too hard to narrow down to 3 or 4 books.

Awesome Author - Corinna Cooke

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an international makeup artist, which means I work both here in the USA and around the world too. I am originally from New Zealand, I have lived in Europe and now live in the USA.
I have always loved Italy, and my blog posts about traveling there lead to me taking small groups of women to Italy on boutique, private tours. These ladies don’t want to be on a tour bus or a cruise. They want to experience a different side of Italy but find the idea of doing it alone too unnerving. So that’s where I come in!
I love swimming in the Mediterranean, Ionian and Adriatic Seas, I love exploring little quiet towns in Tuscany, I love art and history and architecture, and enjoying a glass of wine with a view of rolling hills, olive groves and vines.
Glam Italia! How To Travel Italy is my first book.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Glam Italia! How To Travel Italy is my first (and only) book.
I found that people were always asking me the same questions about traveling in Italy. There were plenty of books telling them what to look at in various cities and towns but there wasn’t anything telling them how to put a trip together. How to figure out which places to visit, where to stay, how long to stay in each place, how to get around. Do you need a car? What do you need to know about renting a car? How do you use the trains?

A photographer I work with told me the story of trying to take the train from Verona to Florence and how stressful and scary it was not knowing what to do or how to do it. She said “I wish you had been there with me!”, which got me thinking that I could write an eBook and give people a step by step guide to using trains, ordering coffee, choosing wines, and many other helpful things that they could access from their smartphones while they are in Italy.

I also have found over the years that travel books always felt very corporate and dry. They weren’t really speaking to me. I was a single mom traveling on a tight budget, so advising me to eat at Giorgio’s ($$$$) or giving lists of expensive activities that you MUST do while in town X made me feel like I wasn’t the target reader.
I wanted to write something that felt personal, not corporate. My book uses lots of fun little stories from my travels to flesh out points that I am trying to make. My goal was to show everyone that they can not only build a fabulous trip very easily, but that they can also do it without breaking the bank!

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to have pretty surroundings, whether it be writing on my back patio or something as simple as having a vase of flowers on the table. Even though I have a perfectly good office in my home I didn’t write one word in there! It was all on my back patio or my dining room table.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love authors like John Sandford, Jonathan Kellerman and Michael Connelly for mysteries and thrillers. I also read books set in Italy, anything where someone has bought an old home and restored it.

What are you working on now?
I am working on a series of books about traveling in Italy.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
This is my first book, so I will have to tell you next time around!

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Being a brand new author I probably can’t give anyone advice yet! I do think that a really great editor is an essential investment in yourself and in your work though.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?

What are you reading now?
I just started Donna Leon’s series about Brunetti, a police commissario in Venice. Its fantastic!

What’s next for you as a writer?
Well hopefully book number one sells! I plan on more travel and writing more books about travel.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I’m a voracious reader and I read quickly, so I would probably need something sizeable – it could be a good time to reread War and Peace. I love the way authors such as Frances Mayes and Khalid Housseni use language. I can read them over and over and fall in love with their wordplay every time.

Awesome Author - Alice Castle

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Before turning to crime, Alice Castle had a long career as a feature writer on national newspapers including the Daily Express, The Times and The Daily Telegraph. Alice grew up in south London and, after a brief stint in Brussels (where her first novel, the chick lit romp Hot Chocolate, is set) she is back where she belongs, dreaming up adventures for her heroine, amateur detective and single mum Beth Haldane. Alice is married with two children, two stepchildren and two cats. Find out more about her London Murder Mystery series on her website, www.alicecastleauthor.com. Death in Dulwich was published in September 2017 by Crooked Cat Books and was #1 in the Amazon Satire/Detective charts in the UK, US, Canada, France, Spain and Germany. The Girl in the Gallery came out in December 2017 and the third in the series, Calamity in Camberwell, will be published on 13th August 2018. Homicide in Herne Hill will follow in autumn 2018, with more books in the pipeline. Follow Alice on Twitter as @DDsDiary

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The book I’m writing at the moment is Revenge on the Rye, it’s Beth Haldane’s fifth adventure and will be published in 2019. It’s inspired by my many dog-loving friends in Dulwich and the surrounding area – and by the cliche that dog walkers often stumble across crime scenes. Beth finds, to her cost, that cliches are often based in truth…

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have to complete the Guardian quick crossword and play two hands of computer bridge before starting to write!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love Golden Age detective fiction, particularly Agatha Christie, Margery Allingham and D L Sayers, but I’m also a massive fan of contemporary mystery writers like the late great Sue Grafton, M C Beaton, Peter Robinson and Peter James.

What are you working on now?
I’m working on ideas for the sixth book in my London Murder Mystery series, which mostly involves keeping an eye on everyone around me for promising plot ideas

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use Twitter a lot but I’m hoping Awesome Gang will work brilliantly

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep going! It’s not easy to get published but persistence really pays off

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be kind and work hard – a friend has these words on a poster in her kitchen and I think they sum things up beautifully

What are you reading now?
The High Window by Raymond Chandler – an excellent book, I can’t believe I’m lucky enough to be reading it for the first time now

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m trying my hand at a psychological thriller. Watch this space

Awesome Author - Liz Graham

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi! I live on Canada’s east coast, right on the North Atlantic Ocean, the setting of my Retro Romance novels, and the Carmel McAlistair mystery series. I will also be releasing a new series of suspense of comedy in the fall. Yes, I’m a cross-genre writer!

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest releases, The Atlantic Island Romances are retro and set in Newfoundland in the 1990’s. They’re inspired by the romance of this whole place, if I can say that – by the history, the architecture, the people and even the weather. We have the greatest and most mysterious fog in the world.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I always carry around a notebook – some of my best ideas come while I’m doing something else like waiting for a friend or watching the waves on the ocean. Other than that, I strictly set 3 hours each morning fro writing. I work an evening job which supports my writing habit for now.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Charles Dickena, Agatha Christie, the ’30’s and ’40’s British Sci-Fi writers, and everything else. I read a lot, and since becoming an author, have started reading with two minds – one part enjoys the story, while the other part is noting how the story is put together.

What are you working on now?
I have a series of paranormal young adult novels in my head, of course set in Newfoundland. I can’t wait to get cracking on those!

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Still trying to get a handle on the promo thing – this must be the hardest part of writing! Sites like Awesome Gang are invaluable for helping authors establish their careers.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Read, write, read, write. Write what truly excites you, not just for the market. And take your writing career seriously, while enjoying the heck out of it at the same time.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
‘What other people think of you is none of your business.’ This has helped me get past the shyness that comes naturally of being an introvert.

What are you reading now?
The latest stack on my bedside table includes Candace Osmond paranormal historical / time travel pirate series (OMG This girl can write!) and Kevin Major’s ‘One for the Rock’. Donna Morrissey’s ‘The Fortunate Brother’ which just deservedly won the Arthur Ellis award!

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’ll keep writing and exploring what I love.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
‘A Christmas Carol’, Charles Dickens – this is THE perfect story, even though it’s so short. Any of Mollie Hardwick’s Doran Fairweather novels. And Marcel Proust’s ‘Remembrance of Things Past’, all three volumes, which I’ve always meant to finish.

Awesome Author - Robert Phillips

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Space.Man is my first full length book I have written and attempted to publish.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Space.Man is my latest book. It was inspired first off by my interest in space travel and science fiction, but secondly, my life spent working for the military and various government agencies. The idea for the book came from conversations with my son about science and space coupled with how silly everything generally is when dealing with the government and office politics.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t think so. I sometimes consult with a pretend talking stuffed monkey, but he’s generally not helpful.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Definitely the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series; Kurt Vonnegut; Philip K. Dick; Ernest Cline; Jonathan Lethem; but mostly movies and TV from my childhood.

What are you working on now?
A young adult series that involves science, mystery, and humor. Goonies meet the Davinci Code but way less series and more fart jokes.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
I’m a new author too, but my advice is the same was what everyone told me. Start writing and don’t stop. Your first draft might be terrible, but it’s better than anything you didn’t write.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Do something everyday that moves you closer towards your goals. Every “overnight success” includes a back story of years of hard work.

What are you reading now?
Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neil DeGrasse Tyson.

Born in West Virginia, I have spent my early years living and working in the Appalachian Mountains. Since childhood, I used reading to see the world but had a yearning for real travel. When the time was right, I began his journey to explore and learn what the world had to offer. It was during these journeys that I began to write about his new experiences.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?

Awesome Author - Isabella Ides

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Right up until I wrote White Monkey Chronicles, I was a playwright. Sitting in the audience at the premiere of my play, “The Early Education of Conrad Eppler,” I found myself wishing that I could make the world of the play more magical, bring in more characters, fill in the backstory. Some stray muse whispered in my ear: write a novel. There was a rapid-fire reconfiguration in my brain that took five years to work out on paper.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Unconsciously, I had been marinating the ingredients for my novel, White Monkey Chronicles, ever since my seven-year-old self began to unravel the puzzle of the Catholic nuns I loved in a school that still stands on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California. That girl had a roving imagination, free to romp with gods and angels alike. She never could reconcile her imagined spiritual world with the orthodox beliefs of the Church. The novel, White Monkey Chronicles, was born of that failed reconciliation.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I love 3:00 a.m. The house is asleep. The telephone doesn’t ring. And once I am on the scent of the story, and my fingers are taping at the keyboard, the world goes away.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
At some point in grade school, I decided to check out books from the adult side of the library. Don Quixote had a huge impact. I remember shocked laughter and a sense of disbelief at the shenanigans. The other standout was an autobiography of the surrealist painter, Salvador Dali. By the time I was in high school, I fell in love with every literature teacher and every book I read.

What are you working on now?
My focus is on marketing. I spent five years producing my novel, and I plan to spend at least year seeding it in the world. I was told by a marketing expert that literary novels were the hardest sell. It’s a bit terrifying–the notion that my work might sink into the ocean of oblivion. To stave off that terror, I do one marketing activity every day. I keep a list. Every now and then, when I get a sinking feeling, I climb onto my list of accomplishments as if it were a life raft and I float on the river of dreams.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Right now I am getting a lot of mileage out of GoodReads: www.goodreads.com. I’ve started writing reviews, and I’m working up to a blog. I’ve hosted two giveaways. And I am slowly garnering reviews. Some of them cracking good!

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Put the same unquantifiable energy into marketing your book that you put into writing it. Everyday do one thing to promote your book. I scurry all over the net searching for marketing outlets and opportunities. That how I landed here. Everyday I discover new places in book world where I can leave a footprint.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Have the courage of your own creation.” This was said to me in a large and very popular philosophy class at the University of California. I had slipped an anonymous poem into the professor’s box and he called me out.

What are you reading now?
I just finished the new Robert Lowell biography (Robert Lowell, Setting the River on Fire: A Study of Genius, Mania, and Character) with its mind-altering analysis of creativity and the manic depressive cycle. It was written by Kay Redfield Jamison, a professor of psychiatry at Johns Hopkins. I believe all of us creatives are challenged by our interior mental weathers. There’s a book for someone to write: How to Survive Your Own Creativity.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I am a artful dodger. There’s a long queue of contenders for my attention. I won’t know who will advance to the front of the line until I am writing.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I’d bring my own book, for sure. White Monkey Chronicles is brimful of incredible memories. And I suppose I’d bring my book of poems, Getting Dangerously Close to Myself, for the same reason. I am aware that I sound like a total narcissist. But what would I have but a beachcomber mind, going over my past, looking for shells and bits of glass, to keep me going, to warm me in the dying light.
After that, a big fat Oxford English Dictionary. I find words endlessly entertaining. Lastly, to focus my mind, a text book that would teach me ancient Greek, something with lots of primary sources to translate.

As a side project I am working on a eBook distribution model that will allow authors to make more money and have greater distribution channels then they have with Amazon … ask me in a couple of weeks, I will be able to tell you how well it works … we are beta testing the platform within the next 10 days.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m songwriter turned English grad, wife and mom of 3, animal lover, and jack of all trades. I don’t claim to be a master at writing but it’s one of my strong points! In addition to thousands of pages of writing during undergrad, I’ve written one novel (published in 2014), one short story (just released), and my memoir (to be published in 2019).

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book (short story) is: Lower East Side. I set this story in the Lower East Side as a nod to the time I spent there during my music business. While the story is fictional, the ambiance I attempt to portray is authentic and handpicked from many personal memories.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to write sitting in a proper chair at a desk with the pillow I sleep with on my lap.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m a huge fan of memoirs and fiction based on truth. I’m a poor excuse for an English major in that I am not as well-read as I should be. However, authors who stand out to me are: Anne Frank and Alexie Sherman.

What are you working on now?
I’ve just wrapped up writing my memoir–a labor of love.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Directly and personally messaging everyone I know, plus free and paid book promotions.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Take constructive advice and challenge yourself to apply it and elevate your writing. However, don’t second-guess your writing and your voice.

“Never believe anything you hear and only half of what you see.” – Grandpa Johnson

What are you reading now?
Can’t Nothing Bring Me Down: Chasing Myself in the Race against Time by Ida Keeling

A self-help book/follow-up related to lessons learned as detailed in my memoir.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

Awesome Author - Dave Tromp

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written one book so far. It is about trading and investing. I call myself a “coder by day and trader by night”. This is because I have a day job as a software developer and I trade the financial markets around that job. I have a personal blog where I write about coding, tech, and trading at www.davetromp.net. And I have just set up a publishing company called DTNT MEDIA because I have just published my first book, but I still have many more ideas for books to come.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called “Invest like a trader: A trading-like approach to investing”. It is inspired by the changes in our financial system and how they affect me and you and everybody else. Saving and investing for the long term doesn’t work anymore. I realized this about 10 years ago and at that time I started to educate myself on trading and investing, so I could start managing my money/wealth by my self. I also started writing my blog on this topic and now my first book on this topic is finally out.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I bite my nails and pull my hair. Other than that I am pretty normal.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
There are too many to list them all, but to name a few:
– Rich dad, poor dad by Robert Kiyosaki
– Trade your way to financial freedom by Van K. Tharp
– The richest man in Babylon by George S. Clason
– The intelligent investor by Benjamin Graham
– Guide To Investing in Gold & Silver: Protect Your Financial Future by Michael Maloney

What are you working on now?
I am working on two books right now. One is on the subject of Reiki and the other is a sequel to “Invest like a trader”. The working title is “Invest like an advanced trader”. It is basically the logical continuation of my first book.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am pretty new to publishing and promoting books. So far I think Awesome Gang is doing an great job.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just do it. Just ship it. Just publish it. I had my book on the shelve for maybe three years and then I just published it on the Kindle store. While it was published I revised it many times over, something I just didn’t do when the book was collecting dust offline. It helps me to know other people are reading my book and will possibly judge me on it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Pay yourself first from “The richest man in Babylon”

What are you reading now?
Fluent Python by Luciano Ramalho.
It is a book on the intricacies of the Python programming language. I am a software developer.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Publish more books. I have so many ideas on things I would like to share. And I seem to have found my medium to do this.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The black swan by Nicolas Taleb
How to win friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie
Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari

Awesome Author - Eli Ingle

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hello! My name is Eli Ingle. I’m a 25 year old author from Sheffield in the United Kingdom. I began writing when I was 15 after getting a typewriter for my birthday. Officially, I have released 2 books at the moment but I have written a lot more than that. I wrote 3 books before Rigel but never did anything with them. I am now glad about this as looking back they were rubbish! But writing them was very good practice. I also wrote a stage play based on an unpleasant camping experience in Ireland. The two books I have released so far are called Rigel and Frivlok. These are book 1 and 2 respectively in my Appointments on Plum Street series.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called Frivlok. I released this on Halloween 2017. The title is named after the nemesis of the series. I’m not very good when it comes to thinking up character names or book titles so I chose to keep them as 1 word per book and relate each to a character or place in the series that was most relevant for each story.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes! I have a tendency to get easily distracted when I begin writing. Once I’ve started I’m alright, but up until that point I can write a paragraph before wandering off and doing something else. So I listen to white noise through my headphones. This helps me to block out distractions and really helps me to focus on the writing … I also drink excessive amounts of water!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
A lot. However my main inspiration has to be Stephen King. His book On Writing changed my whole outlook. I was never someone who could plan out a whole novel before writing it and everything I’d read before indicated that’s what I should have been doing. His method of just ‘sit down and get on with it’ was a breath of fresh air as that was what I’d been doing. He also writes the best stories.

What are you working on now?
Book 3 in my Appointments on Plum Street series. It’s quite a challenge as the interweaving story lines are getting more complicated, but I’m enjoying the challenge.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still trying to figure that out! But I think Awesome Gang deserves a special mention!

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Be prepared to do more hard work than you thought was possible in one life time! No-one really prepares you for the emotional side of writing – it’s a very lonely lifestyle. Personally, I’ve always enjoyed my own company so manage to deal with that, but doing the job of about 10 people (writing, typesetting, illustration, cover-design, marketing, social media and more) is very draining to work 8:30am – 10:00pm every day. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t change it! But anyone considering doing it should know it’s more work than you realise – it was certainly a steep learning curve for me!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Only what Stephen King said: Read a lot and write a lot. There’s really no more important advice when it comes to writing.

What are you reading now?
I’ve just come back off holiday which was lovely and I managed to read 5 books while I was away. I’m currently on the 6th book of Dean Koontz’s Odd Thomas series.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’ve just branched out into recording the audiobook of Rigel myself. It was quite a steep learning curve and a lot harder than I expected it to be. I’ve recently just finished narrating the story and I’m currently in the process of editing it. I’m looking forward to this a lot more as I’ll be adding all the sound effects which should hopefully make it quite ambient.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Stand by Stephen King
Raising Steam by Terry Pratchett
The Ninth Circle by Alex Bell
Three Men in a Boat by Jerome. K. Jerome

I’m so happy that it’s been well-received in the health and wellness community as well as for those living with cancer.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
I decided to write the book “360 Health: Your Guide to Cancer Prevention, Healing Foods, & Total Body Wellness” after seeing so many folks living with and dying from cancer. I wanted to spread the word about the things we can do to help prevent the disease and/or to decrease the chances of dying from it.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?

Awesome Author - Nicholas Wilkinson

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
After working for over 20 years in group homes and residential facilities, I decided to use my own practical knowledge and learned skills to help others who may be dealing with teens in crisis. As an abuse survivor, I think I offer a unique perspective on a wide variety of topics.

My books include: 1. From Here To Obesity
2. The Bottle or the Boob
3. Picky Eaters Suck
4. There’s Nothing Under Your F*cking Bed
5. Happy Halloween: One Piece Only!
6. Teens in Crisis: A Collection of Topics and Tips
7. Child Abuse: The Ripple Effect
8. H is for Heroin

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
H is for Heroin is my latest book. It was inspired by the growing opioid problem in America. After losing countless friends and relatives, it was time to give something back to the community as a whole. The current version of H is for Heroin has been revamped after the devastating loss of my little sister, Yolanda, to a heroin overdose, in early 2018.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to write alone, and I love to just let my train of thought wander.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Ancient Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius wrote a book, Meditations. It’s one of the most beautiful pieces of writing the world has ever seen. I also enjoy the vivid storytelling of Anne Rice, particularly her Lestat series. Other authors of note include Neil Gaiman and Kelley Armstrong.

What are you working on now?
Growing Up Group Home, a realistic look at the group home system in America, and how children who age out of the system are released out into the public without any real chance at survival.

Don’t Take A Leak On The Electric Fence – A compilation of “inappropriate children’s stories”.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Person to person sales, in store readings, and gifting books to social influencers.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Keep trying, luck is for rich kids and losers.

What are you reading now?
Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, From Krakow to Krypton: Jews in Comics, Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis, The Sound & The Fury.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I would love to have a writing credit on a produced and released song.

Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
Dear Shari by Shari Lewis
The Stand by Stephen King
Ben Hur by Lew Wallace

Awesome Author - Avery Hayden

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was one semester away from my bachelor’s degree when I decided to start writing articles online. I got hooked on writing and, to my mother’s chagrin, dropped out of school. Was it the right decision? Who knows. It’s been fun, though.

I’ve written 8 books. My first book was about simulation theory – which is the idea that the entire universe is a computer simulation created by an advanced alien race. It’s a crazy sounding idea, I know, but I was fascinated by it and the pages wrote themselves.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My last book is The Power of Self-Awareness. It was inspired by my own lack of self-awareness, really. My understanding of reality has been proven wrong countless times. But I don’t think that’s a bad thing, in my opinion, your ability to accept the possibility that you are wrong is going to determine the quality of your life. Intellectual rigidity leads people to make terrible mistakes. When we get caught up in our we can’t see the problems in our life objectively.
People who can admit when they are wrong get much further in life than those who cannot. Unfortunately, we all think we’re self-aware and honest with ourselves, even if we’re not. That’s why I wrote the Power of Self-Awareness.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I use the app Cold Turkey to block Youtube/Hulu/Netflix etc. during the day – otherwise I wouldn’t get much writing done.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Daniel Gilbert, author of Stumbling on Happiness showed me that a psychology book can be hilarious. Mark Manson, author of the Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck, taught me how to explain complicated concepts in a way that anyone (even me) can understand.

What are you working on now?
I’m considering writing a book called “Kill Yourself: The Secret To Lasting Fulfillment” – the title is meant to be provocative, but it may be TOO provocative.
The book is about how the ego controls our life and prevents us from being happy or even successful.
Other than that, I just started building a publication on Medium called “The Upward Spiral”, you can check it out, here: https://medium.com/the-upward-spiral

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Hopefully Awesomegang.com!
Giving my subscribers free copies of my book has been a useful way to get some reviews.
In terms of promoting, the most effective method for me has been writing articles that target low-competition keywords (that are related to the topic of the book). At the end of the article, I mention how the book takes what you learned in the article to the next level. Some people buy it, it’s pretty cool.
I use the Firefox addon, Keywords Everywhere to find SEO terms. You type something like, “How to open a pickle jar,” and it’ll show you how many people search that term per month while also showing you similar keywords and how much traffic they get.
Reddit has also helped me get traffic. One of my articles got me 50 new email subscribers in two days – but afterwards, I got banned for self-promoting. You can share your articles/videos on a lot of different subreddits, but you have to share other content so you don’t get in trouble for spamming.
Quora is also good for generating traffic. If one of your answers goes “viral” it will get you a lot of traffic. The basic strategy is to just post an answer on Quora and to have a link to your website/book/etc. at the bottom of your answer (obviously the content you’re linking should be relevant to the answer).

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Get feedback. If you’re not getting feedback for your writing, you’re a hobbyist. And that’s fine, but if you want to make money as a writer, you’re going to have to put it in front of people to be judged.
If someone criticizes your work, don’t get defensive. Ask them to explain why they don’t like your work as specifically as possible. You may determine their feedback is B.S., but you may also gain some incredibly valuable information.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“I’m not afraid to die on a treadmill. I will not be outworked. Period. You might have more talent than me. You might be smarter than me. And you may be sexier than me. But if we get on a treadmill together there’s two things that’ll happen. You are going to get off first or I’m going to die. It’s really that simple. I’m not going to be outworked.” – Will Smith.

What are you reading now?
The Wisdom of Insecurity by Alan Watts.
The Upside of Stress by Kelly McGonigal (not the professor from Harry Potter).

What’s next for you as a writer?
Writing books, mostly.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
– “How To Get Unstranded.” (Hopefully it wouldn’t involve building a boat out of wood.)
– A really large Encyclopedia that I could use to make a smoke signal to get the attention of passing ships.
– “How To Have Interesting Conversations With Imaginary Friends” (I would need to pass the time somehow).

Awesome Author - Aarti Patel

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a naturopathic doctor and author who has four books and one short story out. I like to write both health and fiction, and I can say since I was little I’ve been interested in both. Health care and creative pursuits. I can’t seem to practice health without wanting to be creative about it, or practice creativity without wanting to weave health into it. I also like to draw, and my first book was one I illustrated as well, “Picture It: Homeopathy.”

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
It’s called “Acne: Just Another Four-Letter Word.” What inspired it was too many years of chronic acne, with numerous failed attempts at getting clear skin. I tried everything. Then I went into naturopathic medicine because I wanted to seek out the underlying roots of acne once and for all. I wanted to help my skin, but also help other people using the experience I got in medical practice. My book was born from my journey trying to reclaim my skin and life from acne. In it, I teach readers how to stand up to this mean four-letter word once and for all.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not so unusual I guess. I listen to music, most lately “Twenty One Pilots.” I like to have a beverage of choice, which was coffee with my latest book. Previously I’d have a little red wine or gin and tonic.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Ayn Rand’s books “The Fountainhead” and “Atlas Shrugged.” Also “The Power of One” by Bryce Courtenay. I read these when I was younger.

More recently, Stephen J. Cannell’s “King Con.” “Mastery” by George Leonard. And “Mini Habits” by Stephen Guise (his tips helped me start and finish an entire book).

What are you working on now?
I’m torn between finishing a novel I started eight years ago and starting a self-help book about health. Not sure which way I’ll go.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I love using services like Awesome Gang to be honest. There’s no better way to get your books out there. I come back here every time.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
I’ve been admonished for my advice to new authors. I say don’t worry what anyone else says and just write. I know most “experts” would say to read 100 books first, do this, do that, blah blah.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Roger Federer said to do his best he just keeps playing, keeps doing his work (in so many words). I love the simplicity of that advice, and it works.

What are you reading now?
“Grift Sense” by James Swain. “How We Learn” by Benedict Carey. I love them both so far.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to revisit some themes from my past, threads of writing that I left dangling from before. I’d like to start marketing my book “Acne: Just Another Four-Letter Word” with a lot less pressure than I’ve forced myself to use when marketing previous books. I’d like to just keep having fun writing whatever I’m most in the mood for.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Fountainhead, Boy’s Life, The Power of One, and King Con.

Awesome Author - Amanda Leanne

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have a multitude of health issues and spent several years ghostwriting to try and make enough money to get groceries and the necessities. During that time, I wrote over 70 books. Eventually, though, I met an amazing man who convinced me to focus on one of my childhood dreams; being a published author. Currently, I have 3 books published under my name and several more waiting for me to finish them and get them out there.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Sever the Circle is a dark tale based on my love of psychological horror, witches, and unexpected endings. I had an idea for a failed romance type of story but as I wrote it just kept getting darker and darker.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
My most productive writings times is late at night or super early in the morning, in a dark room with music blasting and my incense burning. I have sat on my bed in my gypsy bedroom, in the dark, and knocked out multiple chapters just zoning out.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
My original influencers, and still my helping mental hands, are Edgar Allan Poe and Stephen King. They were some of the first authors I read books by and I was absolutely hooked. I love Poe with all my heart, and King brought the genre of horror into the modern era in a style I really enjoy.

What are you working on now?
I am jumping between a true crime analysis book on mothers who kill their children and writing a horror compilation inspired by a mixture of the modern Black Mirror type of stories and the old Twilight Zones but much scarier.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Honestly, I am still working out the kinks on marketing. I am a major introvert and it is really hard for me to get myself out there. I use Facebook, my website, and Twitter a lot currently.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write and read and write. Have notebooks everywhere and write down ideas, thoughts, dialogue, everything that sticks to your brain.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write!

What are you reading now?
I am revisiting both The Hobbit and Stephen King’s On Writing.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I have a pretty big series in the works, but it will be at least another year before it sees the light of day. I wanted to use all my years of college and studies with the plan of investigating crimes but blend it with my love of horror, the supernatural, and a universe of my own creation. I’m really excited about that. I have way too many books planned, and some even started, so I am not quite sure what will come out next.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Complete Works of Edgar Allan Poe, The Weird Compendium, Stephen King’s Nightmares and Dreamscapes, and The Lord of the Rings.

Awesome Author - John Williamson

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was chartered accountant working in the City of London for forty years before retiring. Since retiring I have published three novels, all of which have a sci-fi edge. I like to write realistic speculative fiction based in the current day or near future.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
AndroDigm Park 2067 is a novel about the near future where a new generation of near human android is being introduced into the workforce and causing social unrest. AndroDigm Park is a park populated with android creature and human replicants where the super rich can indulge their wildest dreams. The park name is a mixture of the words Android and Paradigm. The inference is that androids create a paradigm shift in society. The year is 2067, the anniversary of the ‘Summer of Love’ when thousands of hippies descended on San Francisco. Both the centenary celebrations and the Park are the backdrop to the story. It’s a very dark world and has a Blade Runner feel to it.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Many writers say you have to write everyday. I don’t. But I think about the stories I’m working on everyday.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Science Fiction: Isaac Asimov, Poul, Philip P Dick, Frank Herbert
Others: Dan Bown, Frederick Forsyth, Stephenie Meyer.
But I’m a story teller and I take a lot of inspiration from movies, particularly sci-fi movies.

What are you working on now?
I’m in the early stages of planning a sci-fi novel, mapping out the main sequences and scenes to see if the story idea works out.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Since April I have been using Amazon’s AMS advertising. It seems the most effective form of advertising. I have tried others but not with any great deal of success.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep at it. Find a decent editor and someone to design your book covers. Everything else you can do yourself. It’s hard work, and you need to learn a set of new skills, but it’s also very satisfying.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
A writer once wrote that they moved to an Apple Mac operating system, simply to use Scrivener software as it was the best writing software available. I had used Microsoft Office software for most of my professional life, but on a whim I bought a MacBook Pro when I retired. I have never looked back. Scrivener is amazing. And now it’s also available on the Microsoft operating system too. I would recommend it to any writer, and I would add that I have no connection to the Literature and Latte whatsoever.

What are you reading now?
Most of my recent reading has been technical research for my novel. Of course it’s sci-fi, but that doesn’t mean you can ignore science fact and not be up to date with scientific discovery. It’s about making the story as accurate and plausible as possible. For example, how long would it take a spacecraft using anticipated developments in technology in the next seven years to reach Mars? Did you know that Mars was closest to Earth only once in every two years. And what is the effect of a Hohmann transfer orbit? It all sounds a bit techie, I know.

I also read a wide range of books about writing and screenwriting, which I find is fascinating subject. I want to learn as much as I can about story telling. And some of the best story tellers are employed by the movie industry.

As for fiction, the last two novels I have read have been Philip P Peterson’s Flight 39 and Blake Crouch’s Dark Matter.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Finish my fourth novel.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
That’s a difficult question. I rarely read novel more than once. Maybe the latest Dan Brown or Frederick Forsyth thriller.

Awesome Author - Greggarious Chaos

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have a pen name because I like secrecy, and I am a 20 year old jobless (writer) who loves writing. I have completed Dimensional exchange program, and am working on the sequel and a separate book. I hope to create books people find interesting, and funny.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is dimensional exchange program, and I was inspired to write because of my mother and my 12th grade English teacher. They encouraged me to try and complete my book. The book itself was thought up as a dream I had of a two guys switching world’s. They were character ideas I have entertained since childhood. So while it may have taken three years for writing, it has been an idea for ten years.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
If I get caught up on one part and can’t think of what to write next I take a week off to refresh my mind. And most of my idea come from my dreams.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I was not really influenced from a book, but rather a TV show called Sliders. It’s wonderful, you should definitely watch it.

What are you working on now?
I am now working on Dimensional Exchange Program book two, and a book called Dimensional Rift.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Mostly word of mouth and family and friends, although I am trying this website now as a trial.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep on writing, and know that someone will love your book. There is always someone that will enjoy what you create.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t give up, and I wanna read it once your book is done.

What are you reading now?
The circle series by Ted Dekker. I’m on Red right now.

What’s next for you as a writer?
More writing I guess, and more reading to get ideas.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The first four books of the Harry dredson series. My absolute favorite.

Awesome Author - Karina Bartow

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I grew up and still live in Northern Ohio. Though born with Cerebral Palsy, I’ve never allowed my disability to define me. Rather, I’ve used my experiences to breathe life into characters who have physical limitations, but like me, are determined not to let them stand in the way of the life they want. My debut novel, “Husband in Hiding”, was released in 2015 and was well-received by readers. I’m excited about my upcoming love story, to be released by Vinspire Publishing on October 15, 2018. I may only be able to type with one hand, but I write with my whole heart!

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
It’s “Forgetting My Way Back to You”. I based it on the fact that our experiences—good and bad—shape us, and in painful moments, it’s easy to wish you could erase that baggage. As I wrote it, I reflected on how taking one person or event out of your life would impact it. In some cases, it would be freeing and great, but in a lot of others, like Charlee’s in the book, it would rob a person of many of his/her core components.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I used to have to play a game of solitaire or do a sudoku before I wrote every day, but I guess I’ve outgrown that now!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Nicholas Sparks. His style inspired me for sure. I love how simple it is, yet how it stirs your emotion. After I read “A Walk to Remember,” I had to read all his works…and write some of my own.

What are you working on now?
Another mystery. I’ve written a four-book mystery series, which “Husband in Hiding” began, and I just started a brand-new story that could evolve into a series. It’s about a psychiatrist who becomes an amateur sleuth after she receives a threatening note.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use social media, but my preference is my website, KarinaBartow.com.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
From beginning to end, writing is a learning process and one that requires perseverance. Just in creating a piece—poem, short story, essay, or novel—, there may be times you want to give up. Sometimes, I do. But if this is what brings you happiness and satisfaction, stick with it, no matter what anyone may say or even your own doubts.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best things in life are worth waiting for.

What are you reading now?
Well, I’m on a free trial of People magazine and can barely keep up! I also have a cozy mystery waiting for me on the shelf.

What’s next for you as a writer?
After “Forgetting My Way Back to You” comes out, I hope to further pursue finding a home for my mystery series, The Unde(a)feted Detective Series.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, “A Walk to Remember,” and anything from “The Hannah Swensen Series”.

Awesome Author - Sameer Acharya

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
This is my first novel, but I’ve ghost written a few biographies for local business leaders in Southern California.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Saraswatichandra. It was long considered one of India’s greatest novels, written originally in Gujarati. That made it inaccessible as a piece of literature to most Indians. My goal was to create an English version that could be read worldwide. It was a great opportunity to share one of India’s greatest stories with a worldwide audience.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I probably spend more time looking for errors and things I don’t like in my writing, than I do enjoying what I think is a good section or chapter. If I’m pleased with a particular section, I probably won’t think about it again, but I’ll obsess over the sections that I don’t absolutely love. If I don’t love something, then why would the readers? Those sections and chapters often turn into the best parts of a story, because I spend so much time thinking about it.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Too many to name here but Stephen King, Robert Ludlum and Malcolm Gladwell are at the top.

What are you working on now?
I’m trying to adapt another Indian story into English.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Follow writers on twitter. There’s never a lack of advice and suggestions from many great ones. My favorite one that I saw recently is – ‘If you’re not willing to write the fifth draft, don’t bother with the first.’ And I would totally agree. I’m not impressed when I hear that someone cranked out a book in a weekend. I think to myself, nope that’s a draft, not a book. A story takes months, you need time away from your own story to figure out its strengths and weaknesses. Because what you love today, may not seem that interesting in a month. This is especially true with comedy.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The only rule about the first draft is to get it done. Don’t worry if it’s great. Heck, the first draft can be terrible. Don’t procrastinate until you have it all figured out. That’ll never happen. The ideas come as you are immersed in a story, and evaluate different scenarios to figure out what makes sense.

What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading a number of different spiritual books. Im trying to get a better sense of how ancient wisdom can impact the modern age.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m off to India to promote this book, Saraswatichandra, with a few events and book signings.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Kitchen Confidential, Romeo and Juliet and the Bhagvad Gita.

Awesome Author - Christina Engela

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Most people call me Tina, T, or Chrissy. I live in Port Elizabeth, a coastal city in South Africa. I’ve been a writer pretty much since I could first hold a wax crayon – which was quite a while ago now!

I’m an indie author, and started out that way in 2005. I’m self-published, although I was with a so-called ‘traditional publisher’ for a couple of years too. That didn’t work out, and since 2016 I’ve been indie again and haven’t looked back!

I’ve over twenty titles to my name, including three book series. I’ve also edited several books. More are on the way.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“Lange’s Legacy” is my latest book, the fourth title in the Galaxii Series.

The lead character in the story is Sean Lange, and well, you’d have to read the story to understand what exactly his legacy is.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I find that sometimes I will knuckle down and plug away at writing, and other times, I will binge write – working on several stories at once, and continuously for several months at a time. Once, in 2005, I wrote and completed three books concurrently over a two month period! Obviously, I was quite exhausted at the end of that!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
There are many, but Terry Pratchett is one of my all-time favorites, and has to have been the most influential.

What are you working on now?
The next title in the Galaxii Series of course! Book 5 is called “Where Darkness Softly Treads”.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I post everything on my website and then share it from there to social media.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Grow a thick skin – writing is the fun part – promoting and marketing is where it gets messy!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Just do it!

What’s next for you as a writer?
Well, I’d like to think I’d get an offer to turn one or more of my books into movies or TV series… that’d be nice, wouldn’t it? Of course I’ll keep on writing regardless – I’ve plenty more stories to tell.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
“Agriculture 101”, “Survivalism For Dummies”, “The Anarchist’s Cookbook”, “The Natural Remedy Book”.

Awesome Author - Sadie Whitecoat

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Sadie Whitecoat is a writer of mainly dark poetry, using subject matter that is heavy, often disturbing, but it may be what you need.
Frustrations underneath a horrible existence, put to words, beautifully…

Biography
Piper Joelle Albus was born in Regina, Saskatchewan. In the early years others observed her eccentric style and shy personality. In high school she excelled in art and was chosen to be enrolled for International Bachelorette program, something she found to be enjoyable until she discontinued school to focus on herself after some unfortunate events took place and very well changed her whole life.

Known as ‘Pipez’ by friends and acquaintances, Pipez has renamed herself many times and developed each of her sides just like characters- Each one of them totally obsessed with writing dark poetry.

Known in her published work as Ms. ‘Sadie Whitecoat’, her first born alias, that the Manson family inspired her to choose, since a young age she deemed herself a ‘Manson Girl’ and dreamt of their old way of life. So she became Sadie, and it brought some peace inside.

Writing never intrigued her until she was 16, going through the hardest part of her life, suddenly her pen understood her brain better than she did, she could poetically explain what pained her insides. A new kind of understanding was taking place in her mind.

She has a writing style that is dark and gloomy, it’s what she’s made of and would not change for the world, the darkness is her gift and with each suffering it grows. Each day she is blessed with pain that she turns to poems, passionately. Aggressively.

Pipez subject matter may not be your taste, but I assure if you read it, it will serve to elate and reveal to you the beauty she has found in darkness, blood, and in hate. The struggles she has lived inside usually result in a lost life. Instead of accepting her own timely death, she immortalizes herself through the words she writes. Some find her work graphic, disturbing, and completely one of a kind. Her work just might upset you, if you’re used to the bright side.

Open her book, open your mind, and enjoy peering into the mind of someone as deep, dark, and brutal as Pipez. ‘Insights to Evil Insides’ tells the story of evil and how it can ruin your life. My deepest darkest secrets can soon be yours to keep.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Insights to Evil Insides

Pain and experiences that made me who I am today. I started writing after I dropped out of high school and it became my main focus apart from bad habits.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to love alliteration and slangs and playing on words
Like saying something but only some will know what I’m really saying
I’m cryptic I guess. And I’m very dramatic and there’s always themes like death and doom

What authors, or books have influenced you?
The people who inspired me are- Cranford Nix, Lydia Lunch, and Charles Manson. Cranford Nix was a musician that I relate a lot to, who died very early. Lydia Lunch is probably my idol and she is a reporter, musician, artist, and total bad-ass. I hope to one day be something just like her. Charles Manson inspired me in high school and I dream of the way of life that would have existed within the Manson family. I do not agree with murder, and that is not the part of the family I feel part of.

What are you working on now?
I just finished a short story called Blue Colony. Im working on a book Titled The terrifying tales of Joanna Gruesome.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Facebook, Goodreads, Amazon, Twitter, book signings, and word of mouth.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Practice to be a talented writer and Present yourself as a world class poet and you will become one. It’s all about confidence. But also you have to have something new and of quality to back it up

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
nobody ever gave me any. nobody thought I could ever get published or appreciated. everyone was shocked when i got not 1 but 2 whole books signed
any advice came from within myself and satan who helped push me

What are you reading now?
Gospel of the Witches

What’s next for you as a writer?
To become the god of dark poetry and rise to extreme fame

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

Awesome Author - Michael Tusa

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written numerous professional articles over the years. I have two novels out: Advancing on Chaos and A Second Chance at Dancing and a book of poetry. I practiced law for 34 years before retiring at the end of December 2017.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
A Second Chance at Dancing. The book is largely a memoir but because I moved the time from the early 80s to the early 90s and added a character to better set forth an issue that Caroline wrestled with. The inspiration was my friendship with Caroline and how she changed my life.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really. I tend to write every day and try to incorporate little known historical figures into my writing as I did in Advancing on Chaos. I think incorporating aspects of philosophy or theology for people to consider in a character is also important.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Salinger, Baldwin, Bukowski and Brautigan

What are you working on now?
Two novels. The first hopefully has some humor and unique characters. One issue involved is the tension about being an artist and whether to create art one must “live the life.” The second book is a post civil war western that uses the despicable practice of arresting blacks in what was known as debt peonage, a modern form of slavery, as part of the story.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
my own website: http//:www.redhightoppress.com

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing and keep reading.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Create good characters and they will help write the story for you.

What are you reading now?
Baldwin’s Go Tell it on the Mountain (re-reading)

What’s next for you as a writer?
keep working on my next two novels

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

The best advice I ever heard is if there is a book you want to read but you can’t find, write it.

What are you reading now?
I just started reading Escape by David Antocci.

What’s next for you as a writer?
The next thing for me as a writer is just continuing to write books, sharing the stories that I have with the world and sharing the things that I have learned while writing and becoming an author.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
It is extremely hard to choose but if I had to I think I would bring the first book of the Hunger Games, Maverick by Julianna Stone, and two books that I have never read before.
