Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve written two novels, both in The Keeper Series. I have three more books in the pipeline. One is the Keeper’s third installment. I’ve created a television series, and it has a director from Scandal/Grey’s Anatomy attached.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Keeper Series was inspired by my love for Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, The Hardy Boys, Monster Squad, IT, Ender’s Game, and The Goonies.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I usually write an insane amount at one time, and then procrastinate far too much the rest of the week.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The Hardy Boys, Harry Potter, Judy Blume’s middle-grade books, Pippi Longstocking, Alexandre Dumas, Stephen King’s IT, and the Ender’s Game Series.
What are you working on now?
A Romeo and Juliet type of love story, with a less romantic twist, The Keeper’s third installment, a horror novel inspired by IT, and several television shows with Cullen Bunn.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My website and personal Facebook mostly. www.hustleandheartfilms.com
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write…. write… write… Read a lot. Take criticism as the advice it’s meant to be. Hand your writing to the meanest and bluntest people you know. The more people tear your work apart, the more opportunity you’ll have to improve.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Kill your darlings. You can’t let emotional attachment determine what stays and what goes in the end.
What are you reading now?
I’m binging the Manifest Destinycomic book series, and reading Orson Scott Card’s Empire Series.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Hopefully some comicbook work.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
IT
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Ender’s Game
The Lord of the Rings (is that cheating?)

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Well, I have a MS in Physics, spent a couple decades of my life caring for one parent or another (father had Parkinson’s Disease), and have pretty much lived the short end of the stick. However, long ago I had a dream and over time have worked to make it come true. All through the horror of my Dad’s illness, I developed it then began to write. My writing became as a bright light in a life of darkness and now I want to share it with everyone.
As far as how many… you’d best sit down for this one, because while I currently only have a handful of them released, I’ve got enough here to keep any 3 publishers busy for about a full decade.
Maldene: 13 novel series (each book averages around 375,000, with a couple a lot higher)
Inspector Flaatphut: 1 short story, one novella, and 4 novels.
Cyberdawn: 5 books
Land Of the Hive (Written for a partner): 8 books
In all, I think it’s somewhere over 8 million words worth of inspired entertainment.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Maldene II: Mysteries of Olde is scheduled for release this May 15 (on pre-order now through Amazon). It is the second full novel in the Maldene series, the first sequel to Maldene (in the form of Volumes 1 and 2), and begins to take the story to places unsuspected.
What inspired it? Well, that’s a story in itself, one that’s over 15 years in the making.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have my stereo playing while I write (lots of epic music), and write about 8-10 hours a day then edit at night. What’s unusual about that?
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Just about ALL of them. I read a lot growing up and was always making notes in the back of my head.
What are you working on now?
Ghostwriting for my clients until I can get my own works better known.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Still working on that.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write your passion, NOT the market.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Well, the worst advice I’ve ever heard, surprisingly from a well-known author, was to write whatever the market is asking for. Except that can change by the time you finish the book. So I guess the best advice is that which I have discovered for myself:
1) Write what you love.
2)They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, but the goal of a good writer is to make one word worth a thousand pictures.
What are you reading now?
Something I’d editing for a client. Can’t say anything more (NDA).
What’s next for you as a writer?
Once I get my own books going well enough to get back to my own stuff, I have some notes on another world to start up a new epic around. This time it has 16 moons and some rather interesting aspects to it. I began with the premise of two things: 1) no Humans, 2) water (H2O) would be dangerous here. The rest just… evolved.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Well, I’d cheat a little, in that I would take books with “The Compiled Works of…” in their titles. You know, like “The Complete and Unabridged Compiled Works of Homer,” as the first book. Oh, and naturally “The Complete and Unabridged Compiled Works of Mark Anthony Tierno.”

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
12 Wilson St.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My book is My Life at Sweetbrier-A Life Changed by Horses. It is based on my personal journey from a handicapped child to an equestrian champion. My parents always encouraged me to follow my dreams. Instead of saying “You can’t become a champion, my dad said, “You can do anything you want if you persevere.” It was his decision that changed my life after he was told I would never walk. He chose to teach me to ride horses.
I feel this story will inspire children and prove they can beat the odds if they refuse to quit.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No, I can’t think of any.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I was raised with horses so I loved stories like Black Beauty, or Pat’s Harmony. I enjoy stories where the underdog beats the odds. But also I like reading funny stories with helpful messages like the George and Martha series.
What are you working on now?
I’ve just finished revising my book, “Charlene the Star and Hattie’s Heroes.” It’s a children’s story told by the animal characters. In this adventure, the animals seek a new career where they can help their friends. Some of the characters are, Charlene the Star, a talented horse, Elliott, a confident dog, Wooliam, a kind sheep, and Hattie, an adorable chicken who loves wearing pretty bonnets.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use Facebook and twitter, but I also have a Book2look widget for my book, “My Life at Sweetbrier-A Life Changed by Horses.” I use Pinterest to a lesser extent, in addition to my website.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I believe if writing is your passion, you should pursue it. Focus on the positive when you can. Surround yourself with those who support your efforts, but always welcome advice from other authors. Be sure each book you present reflects your best efforts. Revising and editing is essential. Also, remember that marketing is an ongoing project.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Always persevere and never give up on your dreams because you never know what you can do until you try. Sometimes you can even surprise yourself by your results.
What are you reading now?
I am often reading and reviewing books for other authors. I’ve recently finished “Lucy, the Talented Terrier,” by Janice Spina.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope to publish my first picture book later this year.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I’d bring any books that would be encouraging and share a positive message. I think encouragement can make a huge difference in one’s life.
