Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am in my mid-40’s, married, with two kids. The stories that I would tell them as kids is the genesis of the “The Absurd Adventures of Monkey, Puppy, and Lion” (MPL) series of books. I have written about 5 books total: four from the MPL series, and a book of poetry for my wife. Without her love an support, I really wouldn’t get anything done!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The latest book is “The Day of the Summertime Blues” which is from the MPL series of books. I think it is the fourth in the seines. The third was released about two years and about four months ago. I’ve been working on other projects, raising the kids, working on the “Honey Do” list, so my writing time has been reduced significantly.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t write in a linear fashion. I write up a scene from one part of the book, then randomly switch to another scene which may not fit the current narrative. At the end, I take out the scene’s that do not fit and add them to “purgatory” for future projects.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Jack Kerouac’s rambling style in: On The Road, Big Sur
Kurt Vonnegut – Cat’s Cradle, Slaughterhouse Five
What are you working on now?
Right now, I am working on my first novella called, “John, Henry, and the Digital Divide”. Henry is a retired from the EPA after thirty years. He was married to Vivicia, who worked in computers, and did the bill paying and things that dealt with a computer. After her passing, Henry isolated himself from everyone. John (Henry’s son) works a retail job, but is up on the latest technology. When he receives an offer to buy a computer at work, he takes it, and gives it to his Dad. John is hoping that by sitting down with his Dad he can: 1) teach his Dad how to use a computer to be more self sufficient, 2) get his Dad on social media and re-connect him with the world. The world is a much different place than even five years ago as staff for call centers are being reduced and people have to use a computer to get answers. Imagine what the world will be like five years from now? That is what John is looking at. If his Dad can’t use e-mail or look for a webpage, then he will be more isolated. John is trying to cross the “Digital Divide” to help his Dad escape a path to isolationism.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have found that my own website / blog is the best way to do a book promotion. The website / blog is the source where everything is written, then all of the other sites (Twitter, Facebook, etc) read from there
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just keep writing and don’t look back!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“If the women don’t find you handsome, at least they find you handy.” – Red Green
What are you reading now?
Nothing! Right now, I am working on promoting the current items as well as getting the forthcoming audio book for “The Day of the Flying Pot Roast” into people hands.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Finish the novella in late 2017 / early 2018, work with the voice-over person to get the MPL series onto Audible, Amazon and iTunes, and write new material.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Jack Kerouac – On The Road
H.G. Wells – Around the World in 80 Days
Kurt Vonnegut – Slaughterhouse Five
Charles Bukowski – Post Office

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I enjoy writing about both the past and what might happen to us in the future. In addition to Betrayal in Venice, I have written Bound Bayou ( the story of a young teacher from England who gets to work in Mississippi in the 1950s) and When the Water Runs Out ( a tale of California running out of water and the US and Canada sliding towards armed conflict over access to Canada’s vast water resources).
Cambridge University educated, my previous jobs include working as a mover in Canada and a sandblaster in the Rolls Royce aircraft engine factory. I work as a lawyer during the day. I have three daughters and lives on the south coast of England with my wife and our dog.
A lover of both the great outdoors and the man-made world, I am equally happy kayaking, hiking a trail or wandering around a city absorbing its culture.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Betrayal in Venice. The amazing city of Venice inspired me. It is such a unique place. I recommend exploring the backstreets to find its real character. St Marks’ Square and other tourist-central points are best visited early in the morning or late at night to avoid the hordes.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Our dog is a puppy right now so I often start at 4 am when she wakes up. It’s a good time to bash out the words.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
There are many but reading books by some of the great indie authors out there has certainly inspired me – people such as Vanessa Couchman, Peter Mazzeri, James Shipman and Lance Morcan.
What are you working on now?
I tend to alternate between historical and future novels. My next is one set in 2045 when robots have taken millions of jobs.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still working on this. I need to get better at promotion.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t treat all you are advised to do as gospel. Write what you want and you enjoy. I wouldn’t want to be confined to a formula or just one genre.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Ignore what others tell you, you must do. Follow your passion and ignore the naysayers.
What are you reading now?
The Silk Road by Peter Frankopan
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m plotting a book set in the Civil War and also bringing together writings I have done on islands I have visited.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The collected works of Jack London, War and Peace – at last I’d have time to read it – and a good survival guide.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hello everyone. I am a writer/director of films for my film production company, Michael & Company Pictures. I am also an artist, sculptor, composer, actor, and musician. I have toured part of the U.S. for many years in a band called Only Makebelieve whose album, Message From A Mockingbird, received rave reviews from critics all over the world. I have written six film scripts to date and three of them were taken from the three novels I have written to date. My latest Fantasy Thriller, The Goblin (now on Amazon), was made into a feature film and is now preparing for the film festival circuit as well as world distribution.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest release, The Goblin, came to me as part of a succession of others that I have yet to pen, all of them at once like a tidal wave. There are 18 in total…and will be my life’s work. The idea of The Goblin was so creepy and held my curiosity in such a way that I had to make it part of my repertoire.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
My writing habits are like any other artist’s I’m sure. I am a night owl and the ideas flow in the evenings until late mornings, 2:00-3:00am. I write best when undisturbed and I go into long trances, it seems, of writer’s meditation that usually lasts many months – typically a year. During the writing of a book, I do not visit with friends, leave the house, do anything social, listen or hear the news, and am isolated from all life for months. It brings the story into existence with a great clarity.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I was a fan of Tolkien’s work as a child and teen in the 1980s and I’m sure it influenced me to some extent. I’ve always been a fan of Hollywood makeup and monsters to some degree and that has put me on the path I’m on now, making Thriller films and using my art to do it.
What are you working on now?
Now, I’m working on sales and promotion of my new feature film, The Goblin. You can see the movie trailer on YouTube by searching “The Goblin movie trailer”. When this gets settled, I always have a new terrifying novel in the works.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have never found a helpful one yet. Maybe Awesomegang will be the one.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Learn to write. Don’t just sit down and write. 95 percent of all books these days are written very poorly, which makes them garbage – incomplete sentences, wrong punctuation, bad grammar, and certainly most of all…no class. Go back to classic literature when writers knew the English language and learn from them. Also, pay attention in English class in school. Hopefully your teachers are educated properly (some aren’t).
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“With God all things are possible.” That was given to me by the Apostle Matthew in his gospel…Matthew 19:26.
What are you reading now?
The Holy Bible, God’s Word. I think that after 1000 years of going over it, I’ll just be at the beginning of understanding 1/500th of its secrets.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Showing the Literary Agents in NYC that they are some of the stupidest people alive.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would bring, The Holy Bible, because that would be my way off of the island, a book called “The God Kind of Faith for Total Prosperity” written by Jim Wahlie, a book of prayers and Scriptures to pray over the world, others, and yourself – a collection taken from The Holy Bible, and finally, my mother’s autobiography, Victorious Dreams. It is an uplifting story of her life, her struggles, miracles that God did in front of us all when I was growing up, and her final victory after a long hard life of suffering. That book would give me peace and encouragement if I were stranded on that island…which I feel like I’m on now.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I live in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, where the ocean meets the mountains. I have written two books thus far. Breathe, was my first book released and is a photographic, inspirational title that encourages the reader to pause for a moment and breathe.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Becoming Mrs. Smith is my most recent release. It is the first in a three book series. The story was inspired by the novel I was in the midst of writing. Two female characters from the novel began to wake me up at 3:00 am for weeks on end, insisting that I allow their stories to be told from their perspectives. Thus, Becoming Mrs. Smith, the story of Violet Sanderson was created. The next story in the series is, Stealing Mr. Smith.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write both with pen and paper and the computer. If ever the creativity begins to slow or I am stuck on figuring my way around a piece of dialogue or a scene, I simply find a comfy place to sit and start writing by hand.
As a side note, my handwriting is atrocious so I have to be certain to take my notes and get them into the computer within a couple of days if I want any hope of being able to recall what I wrote, as I often times can’t read what I’ve written in haste.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love Lisa Genova’s, Left Neglected as well as Elizabeth Gilbert’s, Big Magic.
What are you working on now?
Stealing Mr. Smith is the next story in the series and Bernice is chomping at the bit to get her story told. Bernice is the opposite of Violet (Becoming Mrs. Smith) and I expect she will be very entertaining to write.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Awesomegang is pretty awesome! Other than that, the best thing I have done is build a solid community of fans who are eager to read each new book I release.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Believe in yourself. You can most certainly do anything you dream of, if only you believe. It can sometimes be a lonely step out into your own true self, but the journey is what makes the dream so worth while.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Trust my gut when it comes to my characters, my story, my words.
What are you reading now?
Sing you home by Jodi Picoult.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I have two books in the Smith series to finish and then I am off to find a new adventure. I feel one calling me, but it’s still a secret as I work out the details in my head.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Big Magic, Left Neglected, (both of these because they are the only two books beside my own that I have reread more than once). I think I might also want to take anything by Jodi Picoult as I’m sure any story of hers would make me feel as if my desert island was nothing compared to what her characters are going through.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi. I’m Meredith from Townsville, Australia. I am a Mum to 2 daughters and I also have 2 cats and a golden retriever. I have always loved to write, beginning as a young teenager way back in the 1970s when I wrote a science fiction novel. I have also written a book of poetry chronicling my journey through depression which I plan to publish shortly. My first published book is a Christian devotional style book of encouragement and healing. I also love to cook, read, travel and bushwalk.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called “Hearing His Voice – Meeting Jesus in the Garden of Promise”. It is a devotional style book. What inspired it? Well, in 2016 I was going through a very challenging time in my life. I had just gone through a divorce and had to relocate to a larger city in order to access better services for my autistic daughter. This meant I had to leave my teaching job and become my daughter’s carer. My daughter became extremely unwell during this time with a mystery illness where she was bedridden for months. I found myself in a place of fear, feeling very alone and isolated. So I turned to Jesus and would communicate with Him multiple times in a day for comfort and strength during this difficult time. I wrote down what He would speak to me about and this book is the result.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Because caring for my autistic daughter is so full-on I write in “bits and pieces” – small amounts of time – whenever I can. I need plenty of water as I write! I write quickly and try not to think too much about what I’m writing. I trust the words that come out and then can go back and edit later. This process helps me be “in the zone” of what I want to write about.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
There are so many! I love to read books with depth and a strong message, especially “good triumphing over evil” type of books. Over the years I have been influenced by CS Lewis (the Narnia chronicles are my favourite) and also Stephen King (The Stand) and Marion Zimmer Bradley (The Mists of Avalon). I like descriptive and imaginative stories and Christian inspired books. As a Christian, it also goes without saying that I enjoy reading my Bible!
What are you working on now?
I am working on a book about my journey from being deeply involved in New Age philosophy to how I met Jesus and became a born-again Christian. I am also planning on self-publishing my poetry book.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am only just learning about all of the promotional aspects so I don’t yet have a best method or website. I follow advice offered by fellow successful authors who have written e-books about launching and promoting. I am also hoping Awesomegang will prove to be a winner for me! I would also have to say Self-Publishing School (http://self-publishingschool.com was a fantastic resource for all aspects of writing through to publishing and launching my book.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice would be to write what you know about, what you are passionate about and what gets those creative juices flowing. Write the stories you would want to read! Believe in yourself, believe you have a story to tell that the world needs to hear and reach out to others who have journeyed on the same path. In this digital world we live in there are so many fantastic resources available to self-publish your book and so you WILL see your book published if this is what your dream is.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Everyone has a story to tell”
What are you reading now?
I am doing a lot of reading about launches – different books on Amazon by Ashley Emma, Mimi Emmanuel. I read my Bible every day.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Promoting my book and continuing to write books that help, inspire, encourage and bless others, as well as offering on-line courses and doing speaking engagements.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
This is just about an impossible question to answer!
I would take:
The Bible
Hearing His Voice – Meeting Jesus in the Garden of Promise (my book)
Letters to Renoir by Michelle L. Myers

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Here is my official bio:
I am an adventure specialist and an expert dreamer. I am self-diagnosed with an incurable sense of wanderlust. I love to read, make art, travel and ride my bike. Since I was a child it’s been my dream to become a published author. I currently live in Long Beach, California. If you are seeking adventure, please join me by reading my first novel in a 3 part series: The Wise Ones.
Feel free to contact me anytime! I would love to hear from readers and book lovers alike or just discuss Game of Thrones fan theories. rmastonwrites@gmail.com
This is my first novel.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Wise Ones–the wise ones are a group of the world’s most elite scientists and geniuses. I was inspired by really everything. The idea of the Wise Ones as characters was based on Albert Einstein and the remorse he felt for inventing the technology behind the atom bomb. A lot of the book is focused around the constant threat we face each day regarding nuclear war and the destruction of our planet. The relationships between female characters and the heroine’s romance relationships are all very personal to me. I definitely pulled from my own life for these because I felt strongly about it and wanted them to be real.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I am my most creative at night–late at night, and early morning. If I get stuck, I sometimes talk it out with some one or hand write it to work through it.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Oh man, there are so many amazing authors that raised me and shaped me through their books. Overall my most influential authors would be:
J.K. Rowling
Louise Rennison
Suzanne Collins
Kiera Cass
Nora Roberts
Mostly female authors but I also love J.D. Salinger’s “The Catcher in the Rye.”
What are you working on now?
I am currently wrapping up a vampire novel, set in Seattle, Washington. After that I will begin writing the sequel to “The Wise Ones.” I am also taking graduate classes, which is a slow form of torture.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I don’t have a standout just yet since my author platform is so limited. Definitely social media and contacting friends helped, but organically Twitter and Goodreads have been helpful.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up. It can be tedious to go through agents and publishers but if you have the goal of publishing your book, let nothing stop you from achieving it.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
You can do anything you set your mind to.
It sounds incredibly cliche but I never believed it until I proved to myself that this was true. I was walking through the streets of Paris achieving a dream of my twelve-year-old-self when I truly understood this.
What are you reading now?
“How to Make a Killing on Kindle” (Rating to come after I’ve finished.)
and Nora Roberts, “Sanctuary.”
What’s next for you as a writer?
I plan to promote my book and find enough success to fund the editing process for the next one.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
1. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
2. Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging because I would desperately need a laugh.
3. The 7 Spiritual Laws of Success
4. And a how-to survival guide (for practical reasons)

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve written a lot of books, but have four published. The rest I might publish in the future. Some will never see the light of day.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Subject 624 is my latest. It actually grew out of a writing exercise. An often repeated piece of writing advice is to “start in the middle.” I had this scene in my head of a teenager fighting a group of thugs while carrying on this inner monologue, trying to figure out his superhero name. I wrote the scene and was intrigued by this kid. Who was he? How did he get these abilities? It became the first chapter in Subject 624 and Conor Furgeson and the world he lives in sprang to life.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m a combination outliner/discovery writer. Most of my stories come from flashes of scenes I get in my head. I sit and write down those scenes. I fill in bits and pieces around those scenes and once I start to build the story, I switch gears and outline it…mostly because I don’t want to forget the ideas I have. My outlines are pretty vague, though, leaving room for discovering who the characters are as I write. What are their motivations? What are their relationships with other characters? I like for the characters to have some say in their stories.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve been writing for years, but only in the past few years did I think I could do something with it. All those voices in my head demanded to be heard! I can trace it back to Tracy Hickman and Margeret Weiss and the Dragonland Chronicles. Those books are what got me reading and influenced me to write casually. That lead to taking it up as a serious career choice.
What are you working on now?
In between books, I usually juggle a few projects before I settle on one to move forward with. I’m working on a series of middle-grade books about a group of kids who have superpowers but still have to deal with everyday things like bullying, living up to siblings, and the feeling of not belonging. The first is written, and I’m working on the second here and there. While Subject 624 can stand alone as a story, I’m working on building a story for its sequel. I’m also developing an idea for a new adult contemporary fantasy. I’ll eventually settle on one of these.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
The one thing that has really spurred sales for me is giving away my very first book, The Gatekeeper, on instafreebie. It’s really hard to give away my babies that I worked really hard on, but for independent authors, getting our books in people’s hands is priority #1. That’s true for any author, really. This also helps build newsletter subscribers!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Take every bit of writing advice you get with a grain of salt, whether it came from established authors making millions per book or somebody you’ve never heard of. It might not work for you. Every author’s journey is different. Collect these pieces of advice and apply the ones you think make sense. If they don’t work, don’t keep banging your head against that wall. Try something different. Just keep writing, reading, and trying. Don’t be afraid of mistakes. I’ve made plenty of them along the way (and I still am!), but I learn from them and adjust.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
You may only get two people to read your story, but that’s two more than if you never write it.
What are you reading now?
I met a great guy a couple months ago and we became friends. An author named Jeffrey Stagg. I’m reading his book Modern Titan. It’s a very cool story about a guy who takes it upon himself to take out superheroes that go bad.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’d like to just continue telling fun stories and stretch my comfort zone. To date, I’ve written mostly young adult and middle-grade. I have plans to stretch a bit into the adult territory with an epic fantasy. That’s a few years down the pipeline, though.
I’m also working on building my social media footprint…something I’ve severely neglected. Follow me on Twitter! If for no other reason than I post adorable pictures of my dog from time to time.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Dragonlance Chronicles, of course. I’ve read them about 10 times over the years and I could easily read them 10 more.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written and published one book – but working on my second one!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
It’s called “A Flight Attendant’s Story” and it is basically the true story about my life as a cabin crew in the middle east. So many people are so curious about our life and our job and I get quizzed about it all the time. So I thought, why not just write my story and make it accessible to everybody.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I am quite sarcastic, and I add irony here or there. My book is an easy and fun read.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I am mainly influenced by blogs. Short sentences, catchy and to the point stories, told in a fun way with lots of humour.
What are you working on now?
I am working on a book with tips on how to become a cabin crew. Something along the lines of “100 questions and answers to help you land your dream job at your dream airline”. I promise I’ll work on the title.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use mainly Instagram, but also other book advertising pages.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I guess quality is key. Have somebody proofread your template! And chose a good cover that stands out!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you fall seven times, get up eight times.
What are you reading now?
A novel about a secret agent.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Finish my second book.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The encyclopedia, my own book (because I am so proud of it), Anthony Kiedis biography and Sophie Scholls “The white rose”.

7 Misconceptions about Marriage is my first book.
I was inspired to write this book by many social media posts I see everyday, where people are constantly complaining about break-up and relationship problems , so I decided to write this book to debunk some myth about what makes relationship succeed, which often isn’t the case. and enlighten couples more on what they should do instead.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Promoting your new book is key to success for your hard work, no matter how great and captivating the story or massage is , if no one knows about it, your aim is forfeited. so market ,market and market your book.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a twenty-nine-year-old writer living in sunny Glasgow. I’ve been writing in one fashion or another since I can remember getting myself in trouble for being “too descriptive” in a class piece on hygiene (if ever there was such a thing, right?)
My back catalogue is only one book deep right now, with my first effort having rolled out earlier this year to terrific feedback.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My book, Grim, is about the twenty-four-hour trouble of the new Grim Reaper of Wilson’s Well. This is a world in which Death has given up and gone to live on the moon, leaving us humans to handle his affairs.
I don’t quite know how I came up with the idea. It branched out from the notion that Santa Claus manages to get around the planet in one night, and how it would be far more effective if he hired people (or elves, OR CYBORGS) to do it for him. From there I thought about how Death would have to tour the world all year, taking souls and all that. Must be tiring! Thus, his retirement after World War II, and from there, his role broke down into a council job.
After that, it was a matter of, well… what if someone was really bad at it?
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not so much quirky writing habits as a fairly strict routine. Writing must be done in the morning to a playlist tailored to the mood of the piece. I must be well-fed and, importantly, caffeinated to my eyeballs. Sadly, I do subscribe to the stereotype that writers are addicted to caffeine.
Sometimes, during the early stages of planning, I’ll flip the routine on its head, just to get the juices flowing. Nighttime writing with a bottle of cider on an empty stomach. The results are interesting.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Pratchett is a staple in my book diet, as he is in any writer who writes quite so casually of death and the reaper, though I do try to avoid the full-steam-ahead fantasy experience. Additionally, I’m keen on anything first-person by Nick Hornby (I’ll recommend High Fidelity for a broken heart ’til the day I die.)
Crucially, I’m inspired by comics. Kieron Gillen on The Wicked and Divine was key to introducing me to the kind of council-estate fantasy world in which I’ve set Grim.
What are you working on now?
Right now I’m dancing between a few short story ideas to keep me sharp until Grim’s sequel fleshes itself out. In case you were wondering what Death got up to after he went to live on the moon, y’know?
Additionally, I keep my blog updated every Friday, blethering my way into your morning coffee with musings and stories. Check it out here: http://itsgavinwriting.com
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Twitter is quickly becoming my best friend. It’s saturated, don’t’ get me wrong, but if you can make yourself pop, you’ll do well.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Get a day job you don’t like. Nothing gets you out of bed early in the morning quite like the idea of being stuck in that day job forever. If you don’t like your day job, that manuscript will fly out of you in no time.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write. Just write.
What are you reading now?
The Lord of the Flies. I’ve never read it. It’s terrific. I hate myself for not reading it sooner, but that’s what I’m reading now. Boys are awful, aren’t they?
What’s next for you as a writer?
Plugging away. Writing every day. Short stories, blogs and planning the next book. Build a fanbase, keep them entertained. Breakthrough. Film deal. Mega money. Buy a giraffe. The usual.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Lolita by Nabokov – the one and only. Island by Richard Laymon (because duh), Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick and any comic by Tom King.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
The idea of writing children’s books came to me when my daughter started growing out of watching Sesame Street and Blues Clues. I started looking for fantasy/adventure stories with characters that looked like her and quickly realized that I couldn’t find any. At first I thought I wasn’t looking in the right places, but the more I looked the more I realized that they just weren’t out there. It was during that time that the first story concept started to develop. It was vague, but I wrote it down. At the time, I was working on producing and directing my first short film, so I didn’t give writing much thought.
The short film turned out well and I started turning the story concept into a TV series. When I got to the third episode, I realized the show wasn’t what I wanted to do; I realized I would rather be creating stories that I would love to have been able to read to my daughter.
I currently have three books published; Talee and the Fallen Object, Talee and the Fallen Object Coloring Book Adventure and Anyia, Dream of a Warrior.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Talee and the Fallen Object is very interesting to me. Her adventures are simple one-plot stories with very few characters and locations. There is something intriguing about that—although I do love epic stories. I’m currently working on the second book in the series; Talee and the Enchanted Flower.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
The process itself varies depending on the book. Since Talee and the Fallen Object started out as a coloring book, I always start her books with images. It helps to keep the story simple because the story must connect through a limited number of images. The one thing I have noticed that is consistent with the beginning of new stories is that I always begin with a character in mind. From there I work on the world. I sometimes will see a scene in my head and I can’t write it down fast enough. Sometimes a sentence from a character will come out of nowhere and I’ll write it down only to find out minutes later a scene has developed on page. Then other times I’ll write a rough draft of a chapter and then go back to build it up, finding the details and the action. I always have music playing in the background—soundtracks, specifically, so that really helps, especially if a song comes on that fits the mood of a scene I’m working. I can still hear my painting teacher say, “Paint to the music.”
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I think my biggest influence is movies. I’ve always been a reader but I’m not sure reading is what influenced what I write as much as movies. I see my stories play out in my head so I think I’m inspired by visual stories more which is why I also have started to illustrate my own books. They go hand in hand for me.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on Talee and the Enchanted Flower; the only thing left is the illustrations. The second book in the Anyia series as well as Ava Brooks, whom I think is a fun feisty character that people will love. And I’ll continue to work on more stories and more worlds for readers to enjoy.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m finding that attending festivals and events work well. I get to meet readers and take pictures of them standing by my character cut out which is great for social media. I also created an activity booklet that has promo of my books in the back. I give them out to parents and kids when they come up to my table and I’ve since seen my online sales go up. I also have the activity booklet available for free download on my site which helps to drive visitors to my site and we all know the more visitors we have the more e-newsletter signups we get which will ultimately be our best direct online marketing tool.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Adventure, curiosity and something magic! When I read, I want to be immersed in a world that can give me all three of those things, and I think that’s one of the things that inspires me to write and inspires people to read.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Don’t give up.”
Times will get hard, lonely and seem impossible but don’t give up. Every journey has hills and valleys and it’s those ups and downs that make-up your story so don’t give up. If it were all easy you wouldn’t know how to write characters who find a way to stand and make it through the impossible. So, don’t give up because you are the main character in your life and you can make it to your happy ending if you don’t give up.
What are you reading now?
I’m currently jumping between a variety of books Extropia by Robin Bootie, Epoch Shift by Jake Lingwall and Configured by Jenetta Penner
What’s next for you as a writer?
To keep writing, illustrating and creating one character and one world at a time. And to also create a puzzle for the Anyia series. I have puzzles for the Talee series which do well at events so puzzles are a really good product add on for me.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I don’t know. Can I just take an iPhone loaded with ebooks, movies and a solar battery?

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born in Bristol but moved out many years ago when I went to college. I started writing novels then, and have completed over 20 now. The first ones were Science Fiction but I moved into Crime Fiction soon after, and in 2006 started putting up my books on the internet, both as paperbacks and as e-books. I’m living in Salford now, across the river from the big city of Manchester, which is a place that’s known around the world. It’s not just the capital of North West England but it’s also famous for music, football and the Industrial Revolution. Manchester had the first passenger railway in the world, and is still innovating today.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book to be published is called ‘Trumps a Mayor” and I’ve submitted it to Kindle Scout, to see if it might get a few votes and win the prize of being published by Kindle. It’s inspired by the election this year of a Mayor for the county of Greater Manchester. It’s never happened before and it’s all part of the British government’s commitment to loving power back out into the regions. I started writing it in February 2017, just after a new President was inaugurated in the USA. That was a surprise to most people. I started wondering what it would be like if a similar kind of guy arrived to stand for election in our area, someone with no political experience and a business background. Was it possible he could become the Metro Mayor? Read the book and find out!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I used to have a desk in my bedroom, which is where I do my writing. Then, when we moved home 2 years ago, it seemed too much to fit in, so I started writing on my laptop, but not on my lap – on the bed. (Sometimes I feel like Noel Coward – though not as funny.)
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I like the classics of the Private Eye and Hard-Boiled genre, such as Raymond Chandler, Ross MacDonald, and Mickey Spillane. Also, people in modern times such as Sue Grafton. On the whole, however, I tend to read mostly factual books these days – history, geography, biography and Self Improvement.
What are you working on now?
I am busy right now preparing ideas for a book I can write in November. Ever since 2012, I have set aside the month of November to write a new novel as part of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). The rules are that it has to be a minimum of 50,000 words and has to be completed only in the days from 1st to the 30th November. So far, five novels completed that way – and I have the certificates to prove it!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I always promote my books on my own website, which is http://www.Salford.me/ and then follow it up with mentions on my pages on Twitter and Facebook. I use Lulu.com to make my paperbacks and e-books and then they get sent to Amazon and all the other internet bookshops. In terms of promotion, I find that there are lots of groups on Facebook and people on Twitter who want to help. If you search ‘Kindle’ on either site, you’ll find them there.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice for new authors is that you need to find a routine. It’s no good taking the next ten years writing the ‘perfect’ novel. Better to write one book a year, and then you’ll have ten books to put out there. You’ll find readers are a lot more interested in a series, and once they’ve tried one of your books, they will easily come back to look at all the others.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
When I was young I was told ‘Write about what you know’ and that sounded good. But then, recently, I heard an improvement. It’s ‘Write about what you know – but that’s just the start’. In other words, start from where you are, maybe the place you live, the age you are, the relationships you’re in, but then look around and see where you might go, what might happen next. Never be satisfied with merely reporting your life – turn it into something that everyone can relate to.
What are you reading now?
I’ve been roaming around the e-book store and I’ve stocked up with Sue Grafton novels. I’ve just finished ‘W’ and ‘X’ and I’ve nearly finished ‘Y’. I’m looking forward to ‘Z’, if it ever appears!
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’ve been really lucky in recent years. I live in Britain and there have been a series of national events for me to write about. There’s been the Olympic Games here; the General Election in 2015 (and 2017!); the election of a Mayor here in Salford last year and this year the election of a Metro Mayor. Next year is 2018 and I’m looking for something that could be a suitable subject for me. At the moment I’ve only thinking that I might be able to use the fact that it’s the centenary of the ending of the First World War. Surely I can find something in that.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I was only allowed 4 books, then one of them would have to be a notebook. If it was full of blank pages and you’d let me have some pencils, I could work on a new project. As for reading books, I’ll take one by Sue Grafton, one by Raymond Chandler, and a Theasaurus. I’m sure I could learn from all of them.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I write because reading and writing are my favorite things to do. I am thankful to every author who puts out a great book, and I’m always looking to discover new authors.
I write both fiction and nonfiction. Everything I write is inspired by the paranormal and by spiritual/transpersonal psychology, as this is the lens I see through when I look at life.
I wrote “Bodysculpting for Bombshells”, a nonfiction book of positive body image for women and fitness training, and “The Creed”, a novel of romantic magical realism.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is “Keep Smiling, Your Teacup is Levitating – Ghosts, Premonitions and Other True Stories Boyfriends Couldn’t Tolerate”.
I began this book earlier this year when I had an intuitive vision that my current life would fall apart. I was frightened due to the utter uncertainty I was facing, but then realized that I had always followed intuitive insights, psychic premonitions and a sense of intuitive guidance. As I wrote the book, I remembered I had perceived ghosts and witnessed paranormal events. I also realized that while I lived by intuitive guidance, I had also questioned the validity of intuitive hunches, and even questioned my mental health.
This book is very personal, vulnerable and entirely true. I included techniques I use to “tune into” intuitive guidance, hoping that my experiences will assists others in validating and following their intuition in times of need.
When I recorded an audio version of this book, which is available for free download on my website, the studio I was recording in was seriously haunted. I listened to a poor quality track and found that I had unknowingly recorded the voice of a disembodied spirit. She says nothing but “hi”, but it was a validation of what I was sensing, which I find fascinating every time.
I know not everyone will believe the truthfulness of the story or the authenticity of the ghost voice, but I included the ghost voice as a bonus track to assist others who may experience paranormal phenomena and question their sanity the way I used to.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I would never write in pajamas. I think it is insulting to the muses. When I sit down to write, which is daily, I wear dresses I find beautiful, wear jewelry and makeup. I think that showing up for work dressed accordingly signals to the unconscious that I intend to be at my best to do my best work.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Authors and books that inspire me change every few weeks, depending on what I am interested in. I am currently reading paranormal memoirs. My current book was influenced by Judith Orloff’s “Second Sight”, and Sonia Choquette’s “Diary of a Psychic”. Both authors crossed genres by balancing memoir with helpful techniques to access intuitive guidance. I found that I prefer memoirs which deviate from their genre and offer practical advice I can learn from.
I also liked the self-published author S. Vest” “Angels, Ghosts and the Otherworld: A paranormal memoir”. It’s a stunning account of her experiences as a medium.
What are you working on now?
I am finishing the sequel to “The Creed”, which is called “The Creed – Siren Song”. It is a novel of romantic magical realism, which I define as magical events happening in real life to ordinary people.
Since I received very moving feedback for “Keep Smiling, Your Teacup is Levitating”, I am thinking about writing another book about utilizing the 6th and 7th sense, mediumship, and animal communication. I think it is helpful to remember that we have transpersonal inner resources we can draw from when confronted with loss, unexpected life change or traumatic events.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still working on finding the best method or websites. I like Awesomegang, obviously, or I wouldn’t post here. I wonder if a “best method” exists. If anyone knows the “best method”, please contact me immediately.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I believe in honoring the craft of writing by taking classes. I take creative writing classes at UCLA extension. Novel structure is not something we can learn by reading alone.
I also think we need to learn about the business of self-publishing. My current favorite is Nick Stephenson’s online course “Your First 10K Readers”. I read every single newsletter of his, because his advice is both humerous and strategic.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Hemingway: “The first draft is sh*t”.
Also Hemingway: “Novel writing is architecture, not interior design”.
What are you reading now?
I am reading a hilarious self-published Iraq solder’s memoir called “Does My Suicide Vest Make Me Look Fat?”
I was looking for paranormal memoirs but stumbled on the title, which I found irresistible.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Writing. Working on my craft. Seeking mentorship. Working on producing the best work possible while learning about building a platform and creating meaningful interaction with my email list subscribers.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I was stranded on an island and I could only bring 3-4 books, I would cry. I would hope I can salvage my tablet and the island has internet connection so I can continue discovering new books and remarkable authors.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a human man. I have written nine kids’ SF books, two books published by *Fingerpress*, a very good independent publisher (Smallworld and Littlestar, in that order), and a number of adult books (*Elder Shepherd*, *Phil and the Death Machine*, and *Warlords of Llantatis*, among others).
The kids’ books comprise the *Ant and Cleo* series. They’re set in a world where flying saucers not only exist, but are flown by the US government (and the British government, and the Soviet government, which still exists in outer space in 1999, when the series begins). The story centres around the United States of the Zodiac, a set of rebel colonies of the United States of America.
I’m often asked what order to read *Ant and Cleo* in, so I’ll mention that:
1. Saucerers and Gondoliers
2. Sister Ships and Alastair
3. There Ain’t Gonna Be No World War Three
4. Destination Alpha Four
5. Dog On The Highway
6. At The Goings Down Of The Suns
7. Time Held Me Green And Dying
8. The Moon A Ghostly Galleon
9. Today’s Stars For Dinosaurus
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
*Phil and the Death Machine*. I wanted a *Buffy the Vampire Slayer*-style setting where heroes and heroines could battle the paranormal on a regular basis, but I also wanted to my version of the paranormal to have structure, rather than simply making up a new scary thing each chapter that broke the rules laid down by preceding scary things in previous episodes. So I decided to set the story in the Parapsychology Department of a British university – only a parapsychology department with a difference, in that the department is entirely staffed by people who have the ability to sense things we mere mortals can’t. I set it in the fictional British town of Kingshampton, which is what my home town of Northampton could have been if it hadn’t fought on the wrong side in two civil wars and lost both its university and its castle. And if ghosts and ghouls and demons had existed, of course.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I can only write while I’m hanging upside down from a door wearing my special writer’s hat. No, no unusual writing habits.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The *Ant and Cleo* series was heavily influenced by the Enid Blyton stories I read as a kid, but with hopefully less casual racism, and later on by Diana Wynne Jones and J K Rowling. *Phil And The Death Machine* was influenced by *Buffy The Vampire Slayer* and the *Rivers of London* series by Ben Aaronovitch, among others. And *Elder Shepherd* is my attempt at a James Bond novel. Around about 2015, I grew annoyed with internet chatter on the subject of ‘we need a black female James Bond’. Bond is an icon of antifeminism. Why on earth would feminists feel they need a female Bond? Do they also feel they need a Jewish Osama Bin Laden?
So I set out to write myself a James Bond story that made sense (difficult – James Bond doesn’t make sense to begin with. No espionage agency on earth employs exploding, flying cars). And that had a black, female protagonist. The result was *Elder Shepherd*.
What are you working on now?
Episode 10 of *Ant and Cleo*, which as yet has no title, and the second book of *Elder Shepherd*.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
You really don’t want to ask me for tips about promoting books. I am honestly terrible at it.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Make sure you have a second job that isn’t writing books.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Do not wear earmuffs in the land of the rattlesnake.
What are you reading now?
*Seveneves* by Neal Stephenson, which is good so far, though like all Neal Stephenson books, thick enough to stop an artillery shell; a number of manuscripts by my wife which I’m proofreading, one of which is exceptionally good; *The Goblin Reservation* by Clifford Simak. I have more unread books than I know what to do with.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Episodes 11-12 of *Ant and Cleo* – the story may end in a couple of books’ time, it’s building towards a climax – and more of the *Phil* and *Elder Shepherd* series.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Escaping Desert Islands for Dummies; The Bumper Edible Encyclopedia Britannica In Vanilla Flavour; Caution: This Book Expands Into A Gigantic Inflatable Raft; The Shark-Repellent Edition of the Gulag Archipelago.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I live in the Pacific Northwest with my family. Writing is a hobby that at some point turned into a passion. I’ve burned through two keyboards so far, so maybe if I get tired of this, I can go into computer repair! Scavenger Girl is the first of a 5-book series, although like most authors, I have a few works in progress, and a million story-lines floating around in my head.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Scavenger Girl: Season of Atchem is my debut novel. It’s inspiration is complicated, but what I can tell you is that it started with a dream I had one night. I pushed aside all my other interests (including television) and started the story. As such, all five books in the series are complete. The next four seasons are in various stages of revision with the second book, Season of Talium due to release early 2018.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Somewhere along the line I became a nocturnal writer. That or I’m turning into a vampire. I’m not sure which…
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love genre bending books. As such, I tend to find my best reads with indie authors. They write what they love, what they’re passionate about, and what drives them creatively, instead of writing for a particular market.
What are you working on now?
While finishing up the Scavenger Girl Series, I do have a little side project I call ‘The Grem,” started. It’s about a boy who…wait…are you trying to trick me? Sorry, but you’ll have to wait!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am a highly relational person, so I guess Facebook would be my favorite place to hang out.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write what you love. Write what you hate. Just write.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Not even God can write a book everyone likes.”
What are you reading now?
A fantastic book called, “Generation Gap,” by Alex McGilvery. It’s another great read by an indie author that makes you think even after you’ve put it down.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Season of Talium, book II of the Scavenger Girl Series will be released in early 2018.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Only 3 or 4? Come on!!! That’s not possible.

I have written, edited and published two books on the genre (A Fan’s Perspective: One Man’s Exploration Of British Wrestling & A Fan’s Perspective: 2016 – What A Year To Be A Fan Of WWE).
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
A Fan’s Perspective: 2016 – What A Year To Be A Fan Of WWE, I was inspired by a truly great year of WWE programming and because of this I wrote this book.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m trying to write from mind to keyboard at the moment, cutting out the middle man (writing on paper), with varying degrees of success.

Lance Storm, Greg Lambert & John Lister venturing into writing, editing and publishing books in the professional wrestling genre, made me believe that I could to.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on Book #3 – which will be about my live experience of Wrestlemania 24.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I don’t have a best method, I use my social medias, medium blog, guest blogs, attend professional wrestling shows, etc.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I think the key piece of advice is just write, don’t worry about it being perfect (until editing process). Just get your words on paper and go from there, so many books go unwritten because of procrastination.

Greg Lambert’s – Ropes & Glory: The Emotional Rise Of British Wrestling.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I think after Book #3, I might write a non-wrestling book.

Mick Foley’s ‘Have A Nice Day’, Chris Jericho’s ‘A Lions Tale’ & Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart’s ‘My Real Life In The Cartoon World Of Wrestling’

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born in Durham City in England in 1962. After moving to the Scottish Borders in 1998, I rekindled my love of art, becoming an artist, tutor and illustrator, before going on to study with the Open University as a mature student. Moving to a rural area was the best thing I could ever have done to stimulate my latent creativity and study again. With the OU, I gained a first class honours degree in the Humanities, with Literature and Art History, before going on to do a diploma in creative writing . I have written one novel so far, with two others in progress, and I’m doing a collaborative life writing project with a writer friend. My passions, which drive my writing, are an interest in human nature and psychology as well as a love of nature, and I spend my time writing, blogging, painting, gardening and volunteering in social care. Something I believe in which drives me in my midlife phase is this – ‘Discover the world of you, and with all your heart, be faithful to it’.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My debut novel is entitled On Turtle Beach. I often used to wonder how my sister and I would get on if we went on holiday together, just the two of us, and I asked other women how they felt about this situation too. Most seemed to flinch at the idea, coming from the premise that they and their sister were too different, were like chalk and cheese and would probably bicker or come to blows. I thought it would be great to explore this. Holidaying in Dalyan, Turkey, gave me my setting for the story, and the themes came in from there. I thoroughly enjoyed writing the novel and actually miss the two sister protagonists very much!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to have an organised desk, and dust around the papers too much, which is probably symbolic of the fact that a writing session has to feel new and fresh both physically and mentally. But there is something else in the space too. There is a touch of the theatrical, which happened unconsciously for the most part. I have a folded fan, black with roses on it, which I got for it’s exotic feel, and because I’d always wanted to own a fan. And on the wall is a gold-painted cast of a Venetian character wearing a tricorn hat, reminiscent of eighteenth century carnival and masquerade. So I suppose these help get me in the ‘zone’ for writing!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Over time, I can easily say that Stephen King has been a huge inspiration, for his character development and structural shaping and suspense, even though I write womens fiction rather than horror or fantasy. His attention to detail is outstanding and he knows human nature so well – reading him frees me up in my own writing, which is quite an accolade to him I think.
I also love Margaret Atwood for her female characters and unique writing voice, as well as Ian McEwan for his psychological intensity. Zoe Heller’s ‘Notes on a Scandal’ is a true favourite of mine for the tone of the first person narrator and I dip into Emile Zola for social commentary and the sheer indulgence of his description. It was studying the nineteenth century novel with the OU which really stirred the first faint embers of wanting to be a writer.
What are you working on now?
Two more novels. One is set in the retail world of the 90s about a dark embittered woman with a past that returns to haunt her, while she struggles to keep her antagonist at work at bay. The other is a general fiction story about midlife crisis, with alternating points of view throughout, which I relish doing. I also am working on a collaborative life writing project with a writer friend where we share our lives and observations with one another.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Oh this is so hard, because I’m still learning. I do love doing my blog, where I post once a week, while advertising my book at the same time. I have a facebook author page and a twitter author page…as for anything else, I’m still experimenting and gathering advice from writers facebook groups. I use KDP select for the 5 days of promoting one’s book as free to buy, and book promotion sites like this are now on my radar – thank you Awesomegang!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes…please don’t let all the information out there daunt you…there really is so much to sift through, but just start with the basics and above anything else, don’t let promotion and worrying about sales get in the way of your enjoying writing. Enjoying writing has to be the bottom line.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
A quote from Gandhi has to be the best of what I’ve assimilated, and it applies so much to the creative life, to keep you going, when questions like ‘What’s the point? arise:
“Whatever you do will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it.”
What are you reading now?
Thoreau’s ‘Walden and on the Duty of Civil Disobedience’ – because I’ve never read Thoreau before and I love reading about earlier takes on natural history and social organisation. After that I’ll probably re-read a Stephen King novel, because I need my regular ‘dip in the pool’ of King.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Just to keep going, keep motivated, try different forms such as life writing, and keep imagining. I do have a burning desire kindling inside me to write a midlife crisis memoir, but don’t know if I’m ready to ‘bare all’ so to speak. When I do feel ready, it will be for tailored for creative people, as my transition was indivisable from the living the creative life with all its challenges, frustrations and conflicts as well as joys and tribulations.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Charlotte Bronte’s ‘Jane Eyre’ for escapism and comfort
Eckhart Tolle’s ‘A New Earth’ for acceptance and spirtual nourishment
Emile Zola’s ‘Germinal’, for his great writing and so I’d feel better off than in a mine!
Eckhart Tolle’s ‘The Power Of Now’, to maintain a constructive attitude to my stranded situation

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I started imagining at a very early age itself, that is, at my tenth year I think. I imagined my own stories after hearing stories from my friends, teachers and my parents. All my imaginations used to be similar to the stories I have heard. That imagination gave me a sort of happiness.
At my twelfth year, I have imagined my own story without basing on any other story. I wrote that also and sent it to a children’s magazine. But it was not published. I disappointed a lot indeed. I thought it would be published without fail as that story was that much good for me. But I did not stop. I wrote more and more stories and sent all of them to the children’s magazines. More and more disappointments! But I did not stop writing. In fact, I could not stop writing. I addicted to imagine and write. Without bothering about getting published, I continued imagining and writing for children. I sent all of them to the children’s magazines. Some of the stories were published. That encouragement boosted me a lot.
I became an adult, twenty five years old. My writing also got adulthood and I started writing novels for adults and sent them to weekly magazines, monthly magazines and some publishing houses for publication. Few of them were published and I have got self-published my remaining writings. I could make some profit also. Until this moment, I wrote only in my mother tongue Telugu.
Before I turned forty, I took a masters degree in English Literature. Reading English novels is one of my hobbies and I started reading them at my twentieth year itself. Wilber Smith, Sidney Sheldon, Irving Wallace, James Hardly Chase are some of my favorite writers. That gave me sufficient command over English language, confidence and courage to take up studying post-graduation in English literature.
Writing in English was in my mind for a long time but I have started it only after completing my post-graduation in English literature. I stopped writing in my mother tongue completely and devoted myself to write in English. I have completed five novels in writing in English and my initial idea was to get them self published just like the way I did for my novels in my mother tongue. But by the time I completed my fifth novel, the paperback reading is drastically decreased with the advent of e-books and the various available devices to read them. I was compelled to consider whether it would be better to get my novels published as e-books rather than take them out as paperbacks on my own. I have started searching for perfect platform to put my novels as e-books and for sometime I have considered launching my own website also to put my novels as e-books. At that time, Smashwords came into my notice and it appeared as a perfect platform to launch my novels. I did not waste much time to put my novels as e-books on Smashwords.
Smashwords is indeed wonderful. So far I have enjoyed a lot in uploading my books into Smashwords. The support Smashwords providing to the authors is amazing! Smashwords is the best platform to launch any type of ebook
I think I have told enough about my writing. In fact there is not much to say about me. I am a post graduate in English literature and forty four years old at present. I am doing a private job. I am living with my wife, daughter and son in Visakhapatnam a small city in Andhra Pradesh which is a medium size state in India.
I have written six romantic and suspense novels so far. Angel of Darkness (Sex, Psychology and Supernatural), Laughter In Darkness, “Oh” (Pretty Spicy Stuff), Sweeter Than Heaven, Lovelock are available in kindle, smashwords and other digital platforms. My sixth novel ‘Lipstick’ (a perfect blend of sex and psychology) now available only on Kindle. I am going to publish this on other websites also very soon
Contact me: sivaramakrishnakotra@gamil.com
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Lipstick (a perfect bled of sex and psychology). In fact I am not particularly inspired by anything to write this novel.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No. I am not having any unusual writing habits I think. But I don’t like my writings to be seen by anyone, even my close relatives also until it is published. It may be unusual but I don’t know.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Wilbur Smith-Seventh Scroll, Arthur Hailey – Evening News influenced me a lot
What are you working on now?
I am not working on any novel at present. After writing six novels I am taking little rest.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Google blogger and Twitter. I am using face book also. Now this Awesomegang.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t think your writings do see the light immediately they published. You have to do work even after your writings published also. Be patient. Patience is the greatest virtue. Do two things always. Continue writing and continue promoting your book.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be patient. Patience is the best virtue. Never stop trying to achieve your goal. At one point you do sure get what you want.
What are you reading now?
P.G.Wode House Indescritions of Archie.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Writing another book
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi, We are in New Zealand and are best selling golf writers and golf humorists.
We have written over 15 books mostly dealing with golf, and a few other subjects.
Our golf jokes are popular. For example, “John Daly walks into the clubhouse bar and reads a sign that hangs over the bar:
FREE BEER! FREE BEER FOR THE PERSON WHO CAN PASS THE TEST!
So John asks the bartender what the test is.
Bartender says, “Well, first you have to drink that whole gallon of pepper tequila, the WHOLE thing at once and you can’t make a face while doing it. Second, there’s a ‘gator out back with a sore tooth…you have to remove it with your bare hands. Third, there’s a woman up-stairs who’s never had an orgasm. You gotta make her have one and make things right for her.”
John says, “Well, I’ve done some outrageous things in my life, but as much as I would love free beer, I won’t do it. You have to be nuts to drink a gallon of pepper tequila and then it gets crazier from there.”
Well, as time goes on John drinks a few, he asks, “Wherez zat teeqeelah?” He grabs the gallon of pepper tequila with both hands, and downs it with a big slurp and tears are now streaming down his face.
Next, he staggers out back and soon all the people inside hear the most frightening roaring and thumping, and then silence. John staggers back into the bar, his shirt ripped and big scratches were all over his body.
“Now” he says “Where’s that woman with the sore tooth?”
We enjoy Golf and Laughter. We also write golf instruction books mixed with jokes and funny stories like our, “Golf Tips: And Adult Golf Jokes”, or our “Great Golf Formats: Golf Betting Games, and More Hilarious Adult Golf Jokes and Stories.”
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Our latest book is “THE EFFORTLESS SECRETS GREAT GOLFERS KNOW: The Little-known Genius Ways of Spieth, Justin, Rory, Dustin, Tiger, Phil, and Many Others.”
We felt there was a need to help viewers understand the very subtle genius techniques of the golfers playing at the highest level which makes viewing professional golf tournaments much more interesting.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
We’re still wondering what writing habits are normal? Seems everyone is different, of course. All we know is we enjoy writing and laughter.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Great comedians inspire us like the late greats, Buddy Hackett, Robin Williams, Richard Pryor, and current comedians, Jon Stewart, Ricky Gervais, Trevor Noah, Bill Burr, National Lampoon, and many, many others – too many to name.
David Feherty has an amazing and very creative sense of humor. There are so many amazing people in this world who can make you laugh so hard you can’t even catch your breath, and we find this healthy and relaxing. Scientific studies have been done showing great laughter while playing golf will help you focus better, it allows your muscles to relax so you play better while having a great time!
What are you working on now?
Another humorous book which is in the early stages dealing with golf as well other sports.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
We rely on professional services like Awesomegang and a few other book promotion sites which produce results and spread information about us and our books.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Simple. Do the best with what you have and be sincere.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice we ever received (from a well known Stanford Ph.D was simply, “Content is king.” In other words, if you write quality stuff, people will find you.
What are you reading now?
What’s next for you as a writer?
Simply to continue enjoying life, love and laughter.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Tough question! There are so many great books, so many great authors….

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born May 9, 1951, in Los Angeles California, I knew at a very young age, that I had a unique way of communicating which drew and kept the attention of listeners.
My father, who was also a published author, introduced me to Shakespeare and Edgar Allen Poe as a means of drawing me into a love of literature. Furthermore, my teachers always encouraged me in the area of my speaking gift through the narration of plays and speaking at various school events. I married in my teens and had 2 children, a son Robert and daughter Ila. However, by 18 I went on to a career in Social Services where I received letters of accommodation for solving difficult court cases in the Welfare Investigation Section.
Years later I decided to seek higher education and left the workforce to attend San Jose State University, where I received a BA in Social Science concentrating in Economics. I currently reside in Redlands California with my Chowpug Molly, while establishing myself as a Motivational Speaker and Life Coach.
I am the Author Of: Through His Eyes: My Journey From Sexual Abuse Victim To Victory In Jesus Christ, and a children’s picture book the ABC’s Of Gods Kingdom, which teaches children to recite the alphabet and read the word of God.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book is Through His Eyes which is a Non-Fiction journey into my life as a victim of childhood sexual abuse, and how I received the relief and healing I needed to overcome some very tragic and painful events. I attempt to take the reader on the journey from the victim’s vantage point rather than from the psychological or clinical viewpoint, not to say that the Medical aspect is not needed but there is a big difference between the two.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t think I do anything unusual other than something many other writers may do, which is writing whatever comes out without thinking about punctuation, grammar, etc. It frees my mind to formulate the ideas that begin to flow rapidly. It is like being on a high-speed roller coaster. The adrenalin rush does not stop until the ride comes to an end.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings By Maya Angelou
What are you working on now?
I am currently in the process of researching a project for Volume 2 of my Children’s Picture Book. ABC’s Of Gods Kingdom.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I do some blogging and Social Media posting. However, 95% of my books have been sold off-line through word of mouth and just getting out to the public and letting people know what I am doing and sharing my book. There is a vast majority of people out there that do not use the Internet. I have made sales on the Internet, but I am not waiting for them.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Setup a marketing plan, before you complete your book.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Sari and I live in the dry, hot desert of the American Southwest! I have a degree in film production, but decided to use my talents to write books instead of making movies. My goal is to make books that are as entertaining as a Hollywood blockbuster, but with heart and intelligence as well. Bubblegum is my debut novel.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Bubblegum was written after seeing so many films with a cast of male action heroes, and only one woman. I wanted to turn the roster around, with a group of badass, unapologetic women.
It was also important to me that many of the characters were LGBT. I want to see representation beyond dramas and romance.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to listen to video game music while writing, mainly Final Fantasy soundtracks.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Beauty Queens by Libba Bray blew my mind. It’s got all the things I need in a book: a diverse cast of mostly tough women, and LGBT representation.
What are you working on now?
A sequel to Bubblegum is on it’s way, along with a romantic comedy!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use twitter for much of my book promotion, and like to give out free bookmarks with my book’s cover art and website for those in-person conversations. I also just discovered this site, Awesomegang!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Get that first draft finished! Don’t edit as you go. It can waste a lot of time and there is so much you don’t understand about your novel until you can look back on it as a whole.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Every person who has succeeded has felt like giving up at some point. You can only make it if you keep going!
What are you reading now?
Alif the Unseen by G Willow Wilson, Finding Lizzie by Karma Kingsley, and Doctor Who: Beautiful Chaos by Gary Russell (I’ve got a Doctor Who tie-in novel collection, don’t judge me!)
What’s next for you as a writer?
I planned Bubblegum as a four-book series, so there will be three more on the way. I’m also hoping to publish a romantic comedy, and a children’s holiday book. What can I say, I like trying new things!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
1. A island survival guide (duh)
2. The World According to Mr Rogers (to keep me optimistic)
3. The Art of Racing in the Rain (so I can make potable drinking water from my tears)
4. A notebook (because even on a deserted island, I’ve got to keep writing!)
