AwesomeGang Authors

Good Morning!

Every week I put out this newsletter I always want to hear from you. I get so many emails thanking me and asking questions that it takes me until Tuesday to respond to them all. I love every minute of it.

The past few weeks have been very challenging for me. Three of our sites have totally taken off and I had to move them all to new faster servers. Moving one site is a pain but to move three was a huge task.

Submissions are up, author interviews are up. I find it funny that when I go to forums they all talk about how book promotion sites don't work. I call them Henny Penny forums because after you read a bit on them it seems like the sky is falling

There is a few authors that are writing books about how to market their books and the first thing they do is submit to our sites. Of course they don't mention that in their books. Makes me laugh but at the same time it shows me their morals.

I suggest you do what works, write another book and repeat it. Take other things that you hear on these forums and take a few minutes and think about it before believing it. Spend more time writing and you will be better off.

Write your book, promote your book and try not to listen to people that are not selling books.

Let me help you:

Odds are you have already filled out an author interview on Awesomegang. A lot of you haven't done one on AwesomebookPromotion. Take a few minutes and fill it out and we will promote it everywhere.

What Are You Working On?

I love hearing from authors. Hit the reply button and let me know what you are working on or what you need help with. When this newsletter goes out I am usually sitting on the computer so you can expect a response from me quickly.

Thats it for this week. Please check out the authors below and share them if you like on social media and help them out. Good karma goes a long way. If you belong to a Author group help spread the word about our free author interview series.

Vinny

Awesome Author - Andrew Cairns

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a Scottish guy, living in the suburbs of Paris with my wife and two daughters.
I’ve written one book so far, “The Witch’s List”, and am hard at work on the second one – in what I plan to be a trilogy.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“The Witch’s List” – a horror/mystery/coming-of-age novel I wrote it in 2014-2015 – about fifteen years after a memorable one-month visit to the Ivory Coast in 1999. The book is inspired by some of the experiences and stories which I heard out there, and also by my experiences of growing up in Scotland and moving to France where I’ve lived/worked most of my adult life.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write a lot on my mobile phone – on my commute to work.
I also keep a daily personal diary.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
– Paul Auster
– Iain Banks
– Tahir Shah
– Eowyn Ivey
– Kazuo Ishiguro

What are you working on now?
Book 2 in “The Witch’s List” trilogy. Title is top secret, but the action will take place in Europe and North Africa.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
https://www.facebook.com/thewitchslist
170 likers so far! Hope you will join them!

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just get stuck in! Write your book, get it published or self-publish it, spread the word, and try to ignore any detractors or nay-sayers.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
A story must have a beginning, a middle and an end. Other than that, use your imagination. There are no limits!

What are you reading now?
“The Buried Giant” by Kazuo Ishiguro.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Complete my second book and get it published. Attend some more events in bookstores, libraries, and festivals.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
“The New York Trilogy” – Paul Auster
“The Wasp Factory” – Iain Banks
“Sorcerer’s Apprentice” – Tahir Shah

Awesome Author - Eve Gaddy

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a native Texan, a wife, mother, grandmother and mother of an incredibly spoiled Cocker Spaniel who thinks she’s the queen of our household. I like to set stories in Texas and for the last few years, in Montana as well. My stories have also taken me to other states and countries. Sometimes for real and sometimes in my imagination.
I’ve published twenty-eight novels and novellas, with another coming out at Christmas this year. I’ve written for Bantam Loveswept, Harlequin Superromance, Belle Bridge Books, Tule Publishing and have just released a series independently. That’s been quite an experience.
My husband, who I’ve been married to for a long time, is a retired physician, and I love to pick his brain about medical things. Also, my daughter is in medicine as well, and I can ask her questions too. One time I texted her a question while she was at work–Which would you say nowadays? Come on to or hit on? She asked some of her co-workers and the ones who didn’t know I was a writer couldn’t figure out why I was texting her such a weird question. Of course, that’s far from the weirdest question I’ve asked.
I love to research books. Finding out about new to me professions or situations is such fun.
I like to knit and needlepoint, and of course, I love to read. I like to cook–sometimes. I like spring and fall in east Texas and summer in Colorado. Did I mention I like to read?

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Return of the Cowgirl, which will be out August 17. I’ve been writing a series set in Marietta, Montana about the Gallagher family. Four brothers, three of them doctors and one a rancher, and their mysterious sister who disappeared in Argentina where she’d been living and working for several years. Return of the Cowgirl is her story. My title for it is the Amnesiac Cowgirl.<g> I had sent her off and mentioned her and some of the things she’d done or had happened to her throughout the series. Which made it difficult at times when writing her book. I’d think, now why did I put that in there? Now I have to figure out why that happened. It turned out to be a lot of fun.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
To tell you the truth, most writers I know are weird. I think it’s something most of us have in common. As for unusual writing habits, I’d say I like to interview my characters, which involves sitting them down–they often resist–and asking them questions they usually don’t want to answer. But lots of authors do something like this. I write at all times of the day and night, depending on deadlines and inspiration.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love Nora Roberts. I don’t know that she’s influenced me so much as provided me with wonderful books and a real appreciation for romance. I like romantic suspense. Some of the classic mistresses particularly. Mary Stewart, Victoria Holt, Phyllis A. Whitney. And newer ones, Nora Roberts, Kay Hooper, Suzanne Brockmann, Justine Davis (she also writes futuristic romances that are fabulous), Kylie Brandt, Linda Howard…. I could go on. I have very eclectic tastes. I love Georgette Heyer’s Regency romances and one of my friends, Julia Justiss, writes Regency historicals which are wonderful. For inspirational romance, I think Lenora Worth’s books are great. And on the other end of the spectrum, Katherine Garbera writes sexy, emotional stories that I adore. Oh, and lately I just started Nalini Singh’s The Guild Hunter series, which is amazing. I don’t normally like or read vampire or angel books and these are both. But they’re totally unlike any vampires or angels I’ve ever read. Her world building is phenomenal. Fascinating. And Raphael, the Archangel of New York, is possibly the sexiest man ever to walk on a page. Yes, even more than Roarke!

What are you working on now?
I’m working on putting out my indie series in print. For new work, three of my friends and I are working on A Whiskey River Christmas Carol. Julia Justiss is writing the historical book, and me, Katherine Garbera and Nancy Robards Thompson are writing contemporary books, set in the fictional town of Whiskey River, Texas. I’ve just started, which means I have to talk a lot about my plot and characters, pore over Pinterest for pictures (poor me, having to look for pictures of good-looking men.:), and choose a music playlist for the book. So far I only have five songs and none of them are Christmas Carols!

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m trying to grow my BookBub followers and have been growing my newsletter list as well. I do a lot on Facebook and some on Twitter. Two of my publishers, Belle Books and Tule Publishing, have websites and my books are on there. Right now I’m experimenting with different methods and promotion mediums.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Persistence. Believe in yourself. Most writers go through a mountain of rejection both before and after they publish. I come from a traditional publishing background, but recently have ventured into the Indie world, and it’s a whole new story. But I think no matter whether you publish traditionally, independently, or both as I do, you have to be persistent and believe in yourself. (Some would call this stubborn.:)

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
A quote from Nora Roberts.:)
“My top three pieces of writing advice? Stop whining and write. Stop f*cking around and write. Stop making excuses and write.

What are you reading now?
Summer in Manhattan by Katherine Garbera. Wonderful contemporary romance. When I finish it I’ll be reading the next in the Guild Hunters series. I think it’s #6.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m going to a couple of writers’ conferences. RWA in Orlando this summer and Ninc at St. Pete Beach in the fall. I’m also working on ideas for a new series for Tule publishing.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Does it have electricity? If so I’d bring my kindle.<g>
Books or series? I don’t think I can narrow it down to three or four books. Or even three or four series. I regularly reread stuff. Tolkein’s The Lord of the Rings, JD Robb’s in Death books, Georgette Heyer’s Regencies, Suzanne Brockmann’s Troubleshooters, Kay Hooper’s Bishop Files…and I suspect the Guild Hunter series will also be a fave to reread. There are more, of course, but you see why I find it impossible to pick.

Awesome Author - Jeannie Wycherley

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Crone is my debut novel, but in July 2017 I am publishing my anthology of short stories called Deadly Encounters. These are twelve short horror stories, nine of which have been previously published in magazine and journals etc.

I have an eBook on dog bereavement coming out on 29th July too. It’s a year to the day since I lost my best friend, so ‘Losing my Best Friend’ is a tribute and self-help book, for other bereaved dog owners.

My next novel will be The Jumpers, and that should be out before the end of 2017.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Crone is my latest novel. I was inspired by the countryside where I live. East Devon in the UK looks like the land that spawned a thousand fairy tales. It’s a very mystical place – lots of ancient woodland and green and rolling hills. The proximity to the sea and the climate means there is plenty of mist.

It’s ethereal. It is not hard to imagine a witch walking the trails and lanes around here, heading into town and picking off the unfortunate inhabitants one by one.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have a teddy bear who sits on my desk and keeps me company. I read parts of the text to him when I’m trying to work out how to improve it. He helps a great deal!

I drink too much tea. No, that’s not possible, I’m British.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love the odd and the quirky. My current favourite authors are Susan Fletcher, Tana French, Ali Shaw and Karen Maitland. The best novel I read last year was Hex by Thomas Olde Heuvelt. Stephen King is the one to emulate of course, and Neil Gaiman, and I love their work. Someone compared Crone to Alan Garner’s books and that made me supremely happy as he was my favourite author as a child. It must have rubbed off!

What are you working on now?
I’m editing a psychological horror called The Jumpers about a woman who witnesses a suicide (a jump from a high rise) and then tries to inveigle her way into the dead woman’s life. Unfortunately, the dead woman’s boyfriend is a nasty and manipulative piece of work. The only way to put an end to him, is to join in cahoots with someone even more evil.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m experimenting with a few. This is all new to me, so watch this space.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write fast, edit slow.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you wanted to be a writer, you would write.

What are you reading now?
Karen Maitland, The Plague Charmer. The Three by Sarah Lotz and He Said, She Said by Erin Kelly.

What’s next for you as a writer?
It’s all book promotion for Crone, Deadly Encounters and Losing my Best Friend until the end of August. I’ll be editing The Jumpers most of the summer too with an aim of getting that to my editor in September for a November release.

I have started the novel version of my short story, The Municipality of Lost Souls, so I’m hoping that I will have a good rough draft by the beginning of 2018. It’s a cracker! I can’t wait for this one!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Outsiders by S E Hinton, which is the best book ever. Peter Straub’s Shadowland, because it is a phenomenal story, Witchlight by Susan Fletcher because it is poetic literature and I love it so much, and The Stand by Stephen King because it is so multi-layered.

Awesome Author - T.H. Simon

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve wanted to be a writer ever since my first “books” included crayons and stick figures. I’m an ardent believer that the number of lives we live is only limited by the number of books we read. Above all, I hope my writing can stimulate thought, invoke emotions, and help transport readers to another world, time, and life.

The Secret of Siam, my novel released on July 1 , is my second published. I already have the first four books that I will be releasing written, and have the first ten planned out. They are not part of the same series, but there is some crossover between them.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Secret of Siam, released on July 1 , was inspired by the honeymoon my wife and I took in Thailand. Throughout the trip, I was in constant awe of the culture, the history, and the places we were fortunate enough to visit. The Secret of Siam is, in a way, a love letter to the country of Thailand, celebrating the beauty, mystery, and wonder I experienced there.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Are there any “usual” ones? One habit that has helped shape my books, both those written and those planned but unwritten, is that I like to have minor connections between the stories, despite the fact that they’re all distinct stories. This has required a good deal of planning ahead during my “outline” stage. In addition, I like the idea of trying completely different genres (adventure, historical fiction, short stories, etc.), as well as infusing plot lines that speak to larger themes than just telling a good story.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
To be honest, ALL of the authors I’ve read have in some small way influenced me. However, there are some authors/books that have likely had somewhat of a larger influence (although I would not say my stories are similar to theirs). To mention a couple… The Dark Tower series intrigued me with the idea of connecting the rest of Stephen King’s books (both explicitly and otherwise) to the same literary universe. The 13th Tale captured my interest by starting with an attention-grabbing mystery in the first couple of pages, as many of my books now do.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently writing my fifth book, which won’t be released until at least 2019 (unless I choose to change the order). While I can’t say much about it, I’ll tease here that it happens over 40 years, involves two female protagonists (much like The Secret of Siam), but in this case they are mother and daughter, and it revolves around a shared ambition of theirs that may affect us all.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’ve found that Amazon’s free giveaway through KDP is effective if you’re just starting out and trying to alert people to your books/build a readership. I tried this with my first book and many people took the chance to download it who I hope come back to read this next one (although it is quite different). Also, I’d recommend the simple act of telling everyone you know about your books.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
As a new author myself, I would offer the same advice that I have for myself – don’t expect that you’re going to strike it big and get rich. If people read and enjoy your books, you’ve done something great. Congratulations on even taking the step to share something so intimate as your thoughts and ideas with the world.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Writing is not easy, or everyone would do it. It’s going to be tough at times, and you just have to accept that. One effective trick is to be consistent and keep deadlines (consistency does not work for me, self-imposed deadlines do). Finally, you can’t go wrong if you write for you.

What are you reading now?
I always read one nonfiction book and one fiction book at a time. Currently I’m reading The Complete Sherlock Holmes (Fiction) and Why Time Flies (nonfiction).

What’s next for you as a writer?
Immediately, my next book, The Secret of Siam, will be released on July 1. Going forward, I will continue writing and publishing my books regularly. I already have my first ten fiction and first three nonfiction books planned.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
It would be hard, because my favorite books are typically in series, but I’d choose to take 3 or 4 stand-alone books in different genres so I wouldn’t get bored. Maybe even 3 fiction and 1 nonfiction. Specific ones are hard, but I’ll say: Gone with the Wind, World War Z, The Historian, and The Lost City of Z.

Awesome Author - Sonia Weyers

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
This is my first book! But I have searched for happiness long and hard for about 3 decades so in a sense I’ve been working on it all of my adult life 🙂

I am 49, mother of 4 beautiful people and have had several changes of career. I now work as a coach, a Gestalt-therapist and a leader of ‘Cultivating Well-Being no Matter What!” workshops.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“Happiness Now! A Guided Journey” is the name of my book and I was inspired to write it by the path I have had and also the paths of many people I have accompanied on the search for a happier life!

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
How would I know? It’s my first book and I really had never even thought about writing one until lass than 5 months ago.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I don’t read many books but I would say “The Art of Possibility” by Benjamin Zander is one that has stayed with me as being perspective changing.

What are you working on now?
I’m working on promoting my e-book but I will soon turn to publishing the paperback and the audiobook. Then I will translate it into French, as I am bilingual, my brain will feed it to me in French next 🙂

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Honestly, I am just following the advice from the greatly knowledgeable people at Self-Publishing School.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Find a method that works for you and get an accountability buddy to help you meet your goals.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Just take this book to all the markets and then do the same with the version in French. That’s enough to contemplate for now!

Awesome Author - Julie Anderson

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a writer, blogger and publisher. My first book was a collection of short stories entitled ‘The Village; A Year in Twelve Tales’ published by The Story Bazaar (my own imprint) in April 2015. It chronicled the life of a modern English village over the course of one calendar year in twelve, inter-linked stories. Since then I’ve published individual short stories on line and in magazines and my work has appeared on a number of academic courses.
My first novel ‘Reconquista’ (2016) an adventure story set in 13th century Al Andalus, reached number 5 on Amazon when it was first published. Since then, it was long listed for the Mslexia Children’s Novel Award 2016 ( but it didn’t win ).
I am editor of the annual Story Bazaar Compendium ( 2015 onwards ), a collection of favourite articles and fiction from The Story Bazaar web-site, written by contributors. I co-founded and continue to organise the Clapham Book Festival, an annual literary festival in south London and, this year, also curated ‘Storytelling’ at Crystal Palace Overground Festival.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
‘Reconquista’ is a is an adventure story set in 13th century Al Andalus ( Spain ). I began to write it, ten or more years ago, as a serial story for my nephew and god-son. We have a home in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain and it is a place full of history and romance. My nephew was about to visit there for the first time. I wanted to engage him in the history and romance of the place, so I wrote an adventure story, delivering ‘episodes’ on a gradual basis. He’s twenty three now and the story which I wrote for him has changed out of all recognition.
The book opens on 9th October 1264 as King Alfonso X of Castile & Leon is about to take the city of Jerez after a five month siege. Within the city, fourteen year old Nathan, his older cousin, Rebecca and their friend, Atta, don’t know what will become of them and their families. Everything they have always known is challenged and each of them also has to grow up and learn some lessons about themselves before they can come together once again. There’s quite a lot of peril and jeopardy for them to manage their way through.
It’s a classic ‘journey’ story ( see http://www.thestorybazaar.com/story-of-a-journey/ )

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
When I started out I was very unfocussed in my writing process, but I’m learning that this is a convoluted and disorganised way to work. I wrote a couple of articles on my website about the lessons which I have learned about the process of writing (see http://www.thestorybazaar.com/how-not-to-write/ and http://www.thestorybazaar.com/how-not-to-write-again/ ) I could have saved myself a lot of time, effort and money if I had been more organised about writing when I began.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Far to many to mention, I read all the time.

What are you working on now?
I am currently writing the next book in the Al Andalus series, the ‘sequel’ to ‘Reconquista’. There were things unresolved when that book ended which I couldn’t deal with in a hundred pages or so, which made me decide to write a second book.
In some ways it’s easier than the first because I know my characters so well. in other ways it’s much harder, because the book has to stand alone, but also make sense to fans of the earlier book. I wrote about this on my website ( see http://thestorybazaar.com/the-journey-continues/ and http://thestorybazaar.com/plotting/ )

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I try and get as wide a coverage as I can, using web-sites like Awesomegang, AskDavid, ebooklister and others. I also use social media and regularly do talks and festivals which I share with all their followers.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Read everything you can and then read some more. Write, write and write some more. Only by doing these two things will you improve ( and it never stops ).

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never give up.

What are you reading now?
I’m reading ‘The Essex Serpent’ by Sarah Perry. It’s n historical novel set in Victorian England about a newly widowed lady and her search for the serpent of the title, which, she is convinced, might be a sole survivor from a pre-historic age. I also reading ‘House of Names’ by Colm Toibin, a re-working of Aesculus’ Orestia, which is fascinating for other reasons.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m afraid I already have a number of other books lined up. Once I finish and publish Book II in the Al Andalus series there’s Book III to work on ( it’s already in draft ). This is set two hundred and fifty years after the first two books, in the same part of southern Spain. This is a tremendously exciting time, with the discovery of America and the sailing of the Conquistadors, but also the beginning of the Inquisition’s reign of terror, making life difficult for any non-conformists. Then I have ‘The Village; Another Twelve Tales’ to complete. So, some time in 2022 I might find myself at a loose end.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Ooooh, sooo difficult.
Right now, I think I would take the Collected Works of Shakespeare, the ‘New Elizabethan’ series by A.S.Byatt ( which includes four books, but I’m hoping to sneak that in ), the Children’s Wonder Book ( published 1954 ) and The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin ( so that I can do lots of natural history on the island ).

Awesome Author - G. J. Brown

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have loved reading and writing since I was a child. As an adult working in the education field, I often found my mind wandering to ideas for my latest book project. After having my first child, I decided to stay home with him and squeeze as much writing in as humanly possible. I currently have two books published and one short story: Hidden In A Hawaiian Sunset, The Hills Of Tuscany, and The AI Archives. Hidden In A Hawaiian Sunset and The Hills Of Tuscany are the first two installments of The Broken Woman Cycle. This series is about people who feel broken, yet continue to struggle onward until they achieve their versions of true happiness and healing. Of course, I had too add romance, action, comedy, and a bit of thriller to the mix. My main goals in life are to be a good wife, a good mother, and a good writer. That is more than enough to keep me quite busy, I’m sure.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Hills Of Tuscany is the last book I published and I just really wanted to continue Abigail Simon’s story. She is much more complex than you realize in the first book and her whole life has been one valiant struggle.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not unless you count staying up all night and ingesting insane amounts of coffee.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have a soft spot for classic authors such as Poe, Austin, Bronte (both of them), Shakespeare, Doyle, Tolkein, and some Dickens. I also immensely enjoy newer authors such as Juila Quinn, Shannon Drake, Julie Garwood, Terry Goodkind, R. A. Salvatore, and Matthew Reilley.

What are you working on now?
Right now, I am writing the third installment of The Broken Woman Cycle. The title is A Story For Ireland and the story continues the tale of characters from the first two books of the series. I have loved many people who struggled with suicidal thoughts and major depression, so I am writing this story for them. My message is that they are not alone and life can get so much better if they only hang on. The world is full of infinite possibility.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I do a lot of social media promotion, but enrolling my books into Kindle Direct has been invaluable.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
If you really want it, then don’t ever give up.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Take everything with a pound of salt.

What are you reading now?
Currently, I am reading Missional Motherhood by Gloria Furman.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I plan to take a break from The Broken Woman Cycle and start working on some fantasy and science fiction manuscripts. I’m very excited to finally get those stories down on paper.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Holy Bible, The Complete Works Of Edgar Allen Poe, Tropical Fruits And Other Edible Plants, and How To Survive On A Deserted Island.

Awesome Author - Adele Baker

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Adele Baker was born in the shadow of the Blue Ridge mountains. Her father’s job relocated the family every few years. At 13, she had experienced many cuisines, from Cajun seafood gumbo, to Swiss cheese fondue, to Mediterranean keftedes (lamb meatballs). Her family prioritized time around the dinner table, and there were usually more people at the table than the original six. She appreciated the close-knit family of her childhood and valued meals together.

Micah and Adele met in college, married, and within two years of graduation, their family had grown. Addie Rae was born in March, and Adele experienced unbounded joy during her daughter’s first year. The family hiked the Blue Ridge mountains with Addie Rae tucked into the backpack. They sailed the lakes of northern Michigan, skied and biked the hills of Virginia and hiked the San Jacinto mountains of California.

Despite a healthy lifestyle, Adele discovered that the weight gain of pregnancy had not disappeared. She sought a workable diet, and research led her to the low carb diets. It fit well with her lifestyle and became a way of life. The pounds melted and Adele’s energy increased. The drawback was a sad lack of tasty ketogenic and paleo recipes. In time, Adele created many keto- and paleo friendly recipes, and was frequently asked to share them. She recorded her recipes for others to enjoy, and that collection is now available to you. She hopes that you enjoy the following recipes, and wishes you success with your new way of life

Awesome Author - Jennifer Geary

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
After 20 years of working in operational roles, this is my first book.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“How to be a Chief Operating Officer” is a solution to a problem I found when I first started as a COO. I worked for over 20 years in several of the disciplines before securing my first COO role. I trained as an accountant, then moved into operational risk, technology programme delivery, held two chief of staff positions, led a global risk function, and finally worked in Legal, before taking on my first role as COO. Even with this breadth of experience, I was acutely aware that I was being asked to lead teams in disciplines in which I had little more than tangential experience; HR, communications, insurance, building and facilities management, to name a few. I had to work hard, dig deep and read voraciously. I reached out to contacts for subject matter knowledge, built a trusted community of advisors and, gradually moved up the learning curve. It was hard and I thought there must be a better way. This is what prompted me to write this book – it is the book I wish I had had at the outset.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really! But I do survive on a diet of coffee and flapjacks. I like to have a candle burning and Ludovico Einaudi playing.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love the clarity of Niamh O’Keeffe’s books (see “Your first 100 days”).

What are you working on now?
Just getting my book out on Kindle and following up with the paperback in the autumn.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Ask me again in a few months!

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just do it. And get support. Self-publishing is so open and accessible now, but there are some tricks of the trade. I signed up to the Self-Publishing School (https://xe172.isrefer.com/go/sps4fta-vts/bookbrosinc2241) and my book would not be here today without them.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Not sure yet! I have enjoyed the writing process. Maybe I’ll be back for more!

Awesome Author - Marc McLean

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a health and fitness nut / writer / peanut butter lovin’ / green tea drinkin’ guy from Loch Lomond in Scotland.

I’m author of the Strength Training 101 book series on Amazon, which is aimed at helping men and women discover the many brilliant benefits of lifting weights. (I’m also on a mission to save people from boring themselves to death on treadmills where they’re getting nowhere…literally.)

I’m not a fan of the typical bodybuilding advice and I believe too many people are put off strength training because they have the wrong impression that gyms are full of ‘meatheads’ and hugely inflated egos.

That’s definitely not the case and through my writing – and online personal training – I promote the real value of lifting weights to help people become stronger, healthier, better versions of themselves. I teach them about my effective ‘non-meathead’ approach to strength training and diet. This means helping people sculpt lean, athletic, awesome bodies with a big ocus on overall health…rather than building bulky, unnatural, over-developed physiques.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book ‘Strength Training For Women: Burn Fat Effectively…And Sculpt The Body You’ve Always Dreamed Of’ is the fourth title in my Strength Training 101 series and is already proving to be popular.

It was inspired by me seeing female friends, relatives, colleagues etc doing standard cardio exercise like jogging and aerobics classes 4,5,6 days per week and getting nowhere. Seeing them being miserable eating boring, bland diets for weeks…seeing no difference…going on a junk food bender in frustration…and then repeating the cycle.

Weight training not only raises your metabolism levels, but it can create an after-burn effect for the next 24 hours. This means that your body is continuing to strip excess bodyfat, while developing toned muscles, even while you sleep. When you train like this consistently you don’t need any fad diet to lose weight and you’ll see clear, physical changes in your body.

I also wrote this book to:
* Clear up lingering myths that weight training makes women ‘bulky’ or ‘too masculine’;
* Educate women on why this form of exercise is ultra effective for burning fat and developing a lean, toned body with curves in all the right places;
* Convince women that they are much stronger than they think;
* Prove that the weights section in the gym is no longer male dominated – and explain why women should be training just like men do;
* Help women build up their confidence in a gym environment and take steps towards becoming stronger inside and out.

When researching the book I interviewed various women who had the same fears and insecurities as most females about lifting weights and stepping into the gym for the first time worried about being judged. They reveal how they overcame their fears – and are now hooked on strength training after experiencing great results.

The book also features two chapters with women’s strength/wellness coach Marianne Kane, co-founder of Girls Gone Strong and the renowned Get Glutes training program. She shares her expert advice on how women can develop a toned butt and transform their bodies overall.

I really enjoyed writing this book and I’m sure it’ll help a few more people join the ever-growing army of women who are becoming stronger, leaner and healthier every day.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really unusual, but I do have a system for being productive.

I only write in the mornings – usually from 6am onwards – as I feel I’m more creative at that time.

I drink a cup or 6 of green tea while at my computer.

I turn my mobile phone off so the world can’t get in the way of what I’m writing.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love the American writer James Altucher. He’s pretty funny and this one blog article he wrote had a big impact on improving my own writing: http://www.jamesaltucher.com/2011/03/33-unusual-tips-become-better-writer/

Definitely worth reading for any newbie authors out there.

I don’t do fiction books, whatever I’m reading has got to be real. I’m big into the personal development/improvement genre and health and fitness too for obvious reasons.

Here are some of the top titles on my bookshelf:
– The War Of Art by Steven Pressfield.
– Tools Of Titans by Tim Ferriss.
– The One Thing by Gary Keller.
– The Power Of Intention by Dr Wayne Dyer.
– Letting Go by David Hawkins.

What are you working on now?
My next health and fitness book, which will be titled ‘How To Burn Fat Fast’, and sold on Amazon.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Probably emailing my own list of subscribers who joined my mailing list at weighttrainingistheway.com. I let them know about my latest books and give them the heads-up when the book is on a free Kindle promo for a few days.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
#1 Write about what you’re most passionate about.

#2 Try to be different…don’t just say what everyone else is saying.

#3 If writing is your side project while working a 9-5 then I’d get up earlier and write for 1-2 hours every morning. Once you get home from work you’ll likely be too tired and will find an excuse not to write.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be kind to yourself.

What are you reading now?
Money: Master The Game by Tony Robbins (….because I need to stop spending and sort my finances out!)

What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to publish 8-10 health and fitness books as I have so many ideas. Then I intend on creating an online video courses to help men and women get in great shape, improve their health…and maintain it all more easily.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Warrior Diet by Ori Hofmekler….because it’s all about fasting during the day and feasting at night like they did in caveman times. I’m guessing it would be the same kinda scenario on this island.

Live Life Aggressively by Mike Mahler…because I’d need to get my shit together if I was going to survive on this island.

The Acid House by Irvine Welsh…for some laughs and deep, dark humour.

The Power Of Intention by Dr Wayne Dyer…to keep me calm and centred and not lose the plot on the island!

Awesome Author - Dawn Doyle

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Dawn and I come from the UK.
I have written seven books so far, and I’m currently writing my eighth.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Witch Hunter.
It was just an idea that came to me out of the blue while I was writing another story that was a completely different genre.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Sometimes I write notes, sometimes I write each chapter summary, but most of the time I just type out what’s in my head. Then more often than not, I delete it!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I would say that reading books by Kylie Gilmore has given me more inspiration to write, as her books were the first series books I just had to have. I’ve read them all, now.
Penelope Douglas is another one for me. Her stories are amazing and I love to get lost in one of her books.
Nicole J Merchant is a new author, but her books are so good! I love everything about her The Guardians Eyes books and have thoroughly enjoyed reading about the different gods and goddesses.

What are you working on now?
I’m working on the next book to One of The Guys. This is the story of Matt, the older brother to the male lead, Logan, in the first book.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I don’t really have a method or preferred website per se, I just try to post on all of my social media platforms whenever I can, but making sure I don’t overdo it.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Research!
It’s no good just diving in and writing the first thing that comes into your head. If your character has a specific job, you need to know how they would speak within their role.
Also, research on the correct grammar usage within dialogue. I.e, semi-colons usgae within dialogue is one of the things frowned upon.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t listen to negativity.
You can be the best of the best, but there will ALWAYS be somebody who doesn’t like you or what you write.

What are you reading now?
I’m reading Caged by Brittany Crowley.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m hoping to finish writing One of A Kind, then start on one of the many stories floating around inside of my head.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
My copy of The Wizard of Oz by Frank L Baum my grandparents bought for me in 1986.
Child Posessed by David St Clair. This was the first book my grandad lent to me, and I couldn’t stop reading it. I was about 12 at the time, and my friends though I was strange for sitting and reading a book.
Taken by The Cowboy by Julianne McLean. I don’t know why, but this has always been one of my favourites, and I’m not a fan of time travel romance or westerns! It’s a really good read.
My fourth would have to be The Guardians Eyes by Nicole J Merchant. This is her debut novel and I’m so proud of her for getting the courage to write her story. Nicole is one of my very best friends and just reading her book fills me with happiness. Plus, she made a young adult version of the story just so my daughter could read.

Awesome Author - Eeva Lancaster

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a book designer, freelance writer, editor, publicist… if it has anything to do with self publishing and books, you’ll find me there. I’ve written 4 books to date in a variety of genres. I write mainly to share experiences and point of views.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
BEING INDIE: A No Holds Barred Self Publishing Guide for Fiction Authors was released last June. I felt compelled to write it to help Indie Authors make sense of this industry. To save them time and money. I’ve worked with hundreds of authors and I can clearly see the problems they encountered. I just felt like I had to say something.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m a crammer. Writing is not really my priority. My time is spent helping authors create and market their books. So, when I’m due to release my own work, I cram like crazy.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand is one of my influencers. It taught me to love and take pride in my work.

What are you working on now?
BEING INDIE: A Marketing Guide for Fiction Authors. Time willing, I should finish it by July or August.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Awesomegang is one of them, that’s for sure.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t aspire. BE. If you want to succeed, you must do what is needed to create a high quality book, and then establish a process to promote it, consistently and to as many people as possible.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Just show up.

What are you reading now?
Glenn Kleier’s The Last Day.

What’s next for you as a writer?
There are many books in my head waiting to be published. Hopefully, I get to write them all and free up some space up there.

Awesome Author - Bulinda Wright-Jones

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m fifty years old and Philadelphia has been my home since the tender age of 5 months old. I’m an only child, married with no children of my own, but I do have two children that my husband had in a previous relationship.

This is my first book, and I’m in the process of writing my second book sharing my pain, and struggles of life in hopes of helping someone else. I had no idea that I could write until a friend proposed that I start a blog and it all started in October of 2014 with my first blog post. I’m really looking forward to writing many books and sharing this hidden talent I never knew I had with the world.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My books title is Be Encouraged, Be Inspired and Be Motivated to Keep Looking Up. It was inspired by many of the difficult situations that occurred in my life such as, dealing with difficult people, making wrong choices, getting over my past, etc. I thought about all that I went through and I was inspired to help others along in life.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No unusual writing habits. I just try to keep with the flow.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Joyce Meyer, Joel Osteen, An Enemy Called Average

What are you working on now?
I’m working on a book that shares the pain, struggles and setbacks that I faced in my life. I’m looking to help others get free from their past and move forward in all that God and life has for them to explore and enjoy. Basically helping others be the best version of themselves without the guilt of their past.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Amazon giveaways have been very helpful in creating a buzz and getting new followers on twitter that have really helped in promoting my book.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice is to keep going and don’t give up. You can’t go by how you feel because many times we don’t feel like writing or inspired to, but we must press on and share our stories with the world.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
To know that greatness is within in me, and I went through all of the struggles in my life to share a story and help someone else.

What are you reading now?
Gifts of God by Joel Osteen

What’s next for you as a writer?
Since I’m already blogging I would say possibly speaking engagements since my purpose in writing is to uplift and encourage.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
My Bible

A Journal to write my experience so that I could prepare to write another book
