Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have only written one book so far. It is titled Mystery on Macomber Hill.
I was born in Farmington, Maine in April of 1948. I lived on several farms located in Chesterville, North Jay, and Limerick until the age of 10. I moved to Durham, New Hampshire when I was in the fifth grade and later relocated to Manchester, New Hampshire where I resided through High School. I enter the Air Force in 1966 and served one year in Vietnam.
I returned to school in the early 70’s and received a BS in Business Management from New Hampshire College while working in the computer industry. I continued my computer career through 1990 at which time I left the computer industry and opened up my own business in the New Hampshire seacoast area. I remained self employed for 17 years. In 2007, I took a position with the Department of State, Passport Services, located in Portsmouth, NH. I continued there until his retirement in April of 2014.
I have been married for 43 years. My wife, Linda, and I relocated to Milo, Maine in July of 2014 to enjoy our retirement. I am an avid genealogist and have spent over 20 years researching my family history with my sister, Marcia. I also do research for other individuals.
Linda and I enjoy traveling and site seeing with our new family addition, Sprout, a 3 year old Australian Cattle Dog that we adopted from a shelter in October of 2014.
I hopes to continue writing other books in the Baker Boys Adventure series.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my book is Mystery on Macomber Hill. The setting for the book is on a farm located on Macomber Hill in North Jay, Maine.
This is a farmhouse that I actually lived in and my father was the dairyman for the owners of the farm.
The descriptions of the area and many of the events that are written in the book actually took place and involved myself or my brothers.
I always enjoyed living at that location and wanted to write something about it. I finally came up with the idea of combining some real time events with a lot of fiction to make it exciting. I am very pleased with the final result.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I am currently working on a second book. I guess I didn’t really realize it, but I wrote the beginning of each book and the ending came immediately into my head. So I wrote the ending of the books before I continued to complete the story. I really don’t know if that is unusual or not.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I enjoy Steven King although I am not interested in writing horror stories.
What are you working on now?
I have not started on the second Baker Boys Adventure yet. I am currently writing a book titled Me, Myself, and I. It is a comedy about an individual who is living in an orphanage at a young age. Again, the setting is in Maine. The story covers the time spent in the orphanage, his adoption, and it follows him into manhood. The problem is, while he was in the orphanage he developed a voice inside his head that both helps, hinders, and gets him in trouble on his road to manhood.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have not done a lot of promotion of my book. I have just started to look at all the options available to me. I would hope that over the next several months I can get a website built and choose the best way to promote my first book. That will make it easier for me when the second one is completed.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
It took me a long time, but is was well worth it. If you have the desire to write something, don’t worry about how long it will take you. You’ll be surprised how quickly it will come to completion once you begin.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I have ever heard came from my father who taught me and my siblings this Rule of Life. He would say to us:
” Their are two rules that you must always follow.
Rule 1 – Don’t sweat the small stuff.
Rule 2 – It all small stuff!!!
What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope to finish the book I am currently writing. Aside from that, I am engaged in a lot of genealogy work for other individuals. This is quite time consuming for me.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, Gone with the Wind, Moby Dick, and North and South

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Have you ever seen the movie Anger Management? Remember the scene where Jack Nicholson asks Adam Sandler to tell him about himself. Adam Sandler starts listing off a bunch of superficial qualities. He says “No, tell us who you are.” No matter what Adam Sandler says it’s not the right answer. That’s what I think of when I ask myself that question. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-GV46SUcWs. Does that say anything about me? Oh… and I just published my first book… so… one.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
A Thin Line Between Love and Lust: A Poly Romance Novel. People from my past inspired it. I wanted to relive all the wonderful moments I’ve had, and then throw in some of my fantasies and dreams to create a story that speaks from me.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know if it’s unusual… it may be common, but I binge write. I credit the muse. But sometime she comes to me, and at those times I write from the moment I wake up until the moment I go to sleep. And I’m so excited about all the thoughts I need to get on paper that I sleep very little then I’m back at it again.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Shel Silverstein, Where The Sidewalk Ends. I have a very strange affinity.
What are you working on now?
An epic story. I can’t get into it too much because it’s still unfolding. But I would liken it to something like if you were to mix the bible (the lesser advertised stories), with Game of Thrones.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m not sure yet. This weekend will be my first major promotion so I don’t know which avenue will be most successful. So far, simply Facebook friends and group members have been my reach. Hoping to expand that greatly of the next few days.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I’m new myself so don’t know how much it’s worth, all I can say is stick to it. Believe in yourself and your work and know that you have something valuable to offer the world. That thought and belief is what motivates to do more than simply write something and hide it away in my closet.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Really? The best advice I’ve EVER heard? Jesus. I’d have to consider that for a VERY long time.
What are you reading now?
My own book. What a shitty answer I know. But I just received some paperbacks in the mail today. So I’m giving it a fresh read.
What’s next for you as a writer?
This. What I’m doing here and now. Actually trying to get the world out and actually do something with my writing besides hid it away.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Well we’ve already discussed Where The Sidewalk Ends. Hmm… The Toa Te Ching. Some type of book about how to survive stranded alone on a desert island. And whatever issue of Playboy that had Vanessa Williams in it. That did happen right? I should probably go google that real quick before I regret my book choice.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Christoph Fromm and I have been writing screenplays for television and film for 34 years now. Among other things I have written the cinema films “Treffer”, “Die Katze” and “Spieler” for Dominik Graf and aside from that the television series “Die Wölfe” for my brother.
Eleven years ago I have founded the Primero book-publishing house together with Tina Lizius. I have written the novels “Macht des Geldes”, “Amoklauf im Paradies” and “Stalingad – The lonliest death” which also appeared in English as you can see from the title.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called „Amoklauf im Paradies“. It tells the story of a petit bourgeois – or you could even say enraged citizen – who gets out of control slowly but surely.
I think that this is a highly topical story, because for many of us certainties are breaking off more and more. It is also the story of a daughter who is seeking affirmation with her father that he cannot give her, though. The tone of the book is funny, but as with every good comedy the situation of the characters is rather tragic.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Actually not. I normally work from 9am to 4pm. But sometimes I go out to observe people and write down what I see. So be careful if you see me sitting somewhere – maybe I am writing about you.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
In my youth Kafka, Jack London, Hemingway. Later Dostojewski, Hubert Selby, Beckett, Foster Wallace. And among the thriller authors: Ellroy, Hammett.
What are you working on now?
You won’t believe it, but currently I am working on a book for first readers: “Gottfried, der Turborabe”. Gottfried Primero is a thick little stuffed raven who needs an engine as he is too lazy to fly by his own efforts. Furthermore he is the heraldic animal of our Primero book-publishing house.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
We have a homepage (www.primeroverlag.de) where I frequently release Blog entries about my books but also about current topics like politics and economy. Moreover we are very present on Facebook for example but also on Twitter and Pinterest.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Read much, observe much and last but not least: write much!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I think it is from Nietzsche: First start with observing the characters and shaping the figures.
What are you reading now?
As part of my research for a television series I am reading the Munich novel “Und keener weint mir nach” written by Siggi Sommer. A great book, especially the first hundred pages!
What’s next for you as a writer?
I am going to write my fourth novel, a satire about the screenplay business in Germany.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
In the past year I was very impressed by „Unendlicher Spaß“, written by Foster Wallace. But also „Murphy“, Beckett’s first novel is a really special book to me.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Tina and my writing career has already begun at school. I am the type of person who is writing diaries. Events, thoughts and stories – everything that I have seen, felt and experienced is written down in my diaries. By this time my collection covers 30 books with 300 pages each.
At the beginning I was only writing for myself. Life creates the best stories and so my diaries are a real treasure, an inexhaustible source of ideas, thoughts and stories. Eventually I started writing for friends and family festivities. But I would have never thought that I would write my own books, not to speak of an own book-publishing house!
I have written four books until now.
My first two books „Die Abenteuer des Gottfried Primero“ are addressed to boys and girls at primary school age. They describe the adventures of a girl with her two stuffed animals: Gottfried, a raven who is so thick that he needs an engine for flying and his co-pilot, a moose who is always busy servicing Gottfried’s engine.
„Chris – Mein kleiner großer Prinz“ is a book for adolescents. It is a novel about a stubborn pony who is always eager on playing pranks. Chris, a girl, who absolutely wanted a pony, needs steady nerves to tame the temper of the stallion. I think that this is a book rather read by girls.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called „Lisa and Egon – Teaching a hippo to dance“ which also appeared in English as you can see from the title. It is a book for first readers and connects literature with movement. The dances are described vividly so that the kids can imitate them easily. The book is popular with all age groups, an amusement for the whole family. The main character is a little hippo named Egon who learns how to dance ballet and who can animate also the boys to dance. But actually the book is most popular with girls from 4 to 7 years.
With my children’s books, I get most of my inspiration from the pupils of my ballet school. Their imagination is infinite and they have a lot of funny ideas.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
None that I would be aware of. However I believe that every author has his or her peculiarities.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
There are great authors who are able to dig deep down under the surface of a story, in the abyss of their characters. Hans Fallada for example is successful in doing this. But it depends on the topic of course and on whether depth is favoured or not. Linguistic joke and style can also be unique, consider T.C. Boyle for example. I also love the minimalism of trenchant language like in the texts of Ernest Hemingway. But there are many more outstanding writers that I cannot all name here. They can be idols, but I believe that, in the end, everybody has to find their own way.
What are you working on now?
Currently I am working on the second volume of “Lisa and Egon”. It is based on a very famous Christmas fairy tale and again it shall make literature experiencable trough dance and movement.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
The best method for me is to address the target group directly through web-portals, social networks or groups. I am trying to reinvent myself continuously.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
In my opinion it is very hard to give advise to other authors as everybody has their own style of writing. I think that everybody must find theit own way.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never jump on a train that is already running. Jump when the train is starting.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a writer who keeps the bills paid by editing. I was born and raise in South Africa and this is where most of my stories tend to be based. My first publication was a South African zombie apocalypse short story, because who doesn’t love zombie apocalypses!? I finished and published my first novel in December 2016. It’s called When the Stars Dance and you can find it on Amazon.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
When the Stars Dance is my first and latest book published on Amazon. The inspiration for this story came from a simple question: could a bond between two people be strong enough to reverse death? That got my mind racing, and there I built a world around this concept and a story emerged and you can now enjoy it too.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Unusual? Perhaps not, but I do have a routine: first, plan. This means scraps of paper doodled and scribbled on and stuck above my desk. Next, I write by hand (does that count as unusual these days?), and then, as an editing exercise, I type it up onto the computer.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
There are the usual suspects for people of my age: J. K. Rowling, J. R. R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, George R. R. Martin. I always include to lists like these Juliet Marillier’s The Sevenwaters Trilogy, Raymond E. Feist’s The Riftwar Saga, and anything and everything by Roald Dahl.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Promoting, as any author will tell you, is difficult. Facebook works well for me as an electronic word-of-mouth system but trying as many platforms as possible is the key. Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and as I have recently found out Pinterest are also very good platforms for promotion.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep at it. Some days you’ll feel like what you’ve written is garbage and want to pack the whole lot up. Don’t. Take a break, go for a walk, cook some food, read a book (that’s always helpful), and come back to it later. Every story is worth being told.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Sylvia Plath: “The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.”
What are you reading now?
My Goodreads bookshelf explains better than I could: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list/63658232-robyn-veary
What’s next for you as a writer?
I am aiming to have the second book to my first published novel completed by the end of the year so it’s crunch-time! Keep at it and keep keeping on, that’s what I always say.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Roald Dahl’s Boy
Juliet Marillier’s Daugther of the Forest
Kathy Reich’s Fatal Voyage
and Boatbuilding: A Complete Handbook of Wooden Boat Construction by Howard I. Chapelle

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born in England but moved to New Jersey with my family when I was 12 years old. I had a diverse career beginning as an actress and voice-over artist, moving into the corporate world in my late twenties and finally building my own internet ecommerce company which I sold in 2015. I’m now living my dream of spending every day reading and writing stories. I’m married to a sexy Scotsman and have a college-aged daughter who has just flown the nest. I live in lots of places, mostly in Florida but often in Italy and sometimes in Scotland or The Bahamas. I travel a lot and you’ll find most of my favorite locations popping up in my books. I have written two novels as part of the Jersey Girls series. If you like fun, breezy, beach read chick-lit with lots of romance and some humour I think you might like my books.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The last book I wrote was “Unstoppable” and it was inspired by the readers of my first book “Unraveled” who asked me to write more about a specific character. Here’s what the book is about:
When Mousy Maureen gets dumped… again, she is convinced that she is destined to live a small boring life as a corporate hack. But then she meets Brad, a wealthy, charming sexy entrepreneur turned art investor. When Brad invites her to join a group he is taking on a “discovery” trip to The Bahamas, Maureen decides it’s time to take life into her own hands. She will shed her mouse and get Brad and her happily ever after. She packs her new wardrobe and her guide to “Make Every Man Want You” and heads off to paradise.
Will Maureen succeed in transforming from Mousy Maureen to Magnificent Mo? Will Brad be her happily ever after? Or will Paradise have surprises even Mo couldn’t have foreseen?
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Because we travel so much I have developed the skill to be able to write from anywhere. It wouldn’t be surprising to find me in the cafeteria of a ferry, writing in the car while we drive across Europe, writing in a noisy cafe in Italy and more. I think my adventures find their way into the stories this way.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
For inspiration the kind of books I like to write, I love to read Sophie Kinsella, Emily Giffin, etc… In terms of influencing me as an author I love good stories of every kind. I read a diverse group of Authors from Stephen King and Jodie Piccoult to Ann Patchett, Barbara Kingsolver and Jane Eyre.
What are you working on now?
I am just in the middle of outlining the 3rd book in the Jersey Girls series based on another request from my readers. They picked the next character they want to know more about. I don’t really write for myself as much as I write what stories my readers tell me they would like to read.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I love my email list of readers. I always go to them first with any special offers and freebies. Awesomegang, and other sites like yours, are a new discovery for me and I am excited to connect with a brand new audience.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I was an entrepreneur for over 7 years (I founded and ran an ecommerce business). Becoming an author is much easier of you understand the basic business principle of looking after your customer. I would advise new authors to learn as much about business and marketing as possible.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write every day.
What are you reading now?
I am re-reading Stephen King’s “The Stand” for about the 4th time. The story is so epic and tightly written that I often re-visit for inspiration.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I am enjoying writing the romance books that I am writing now but I do have a dystopian novel that is nagging me to be written. I also want to take some writing classes as I believe in always improving.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Stephen King’s, The Stand. Barbara Kingsolver’s, The Poisonwood Bible. Margaret Atwood’s, The Handmaiden’s Tale and any one of JK Rowling’s Harry Potter books.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
THE VERITAS DECEPTION is my first solo novel. I co-wrote CIRCLE DANCE, a family saga, with my sister many years ago. Our recent book published under the pen name Liv Constantine is THE LAST MRS. PARRISH, a psychological thriller. It will be published by HarperCollins on October 17, 2017, and the rights have been sold internationally to fifteen countries.
I love to read, walk on the beach, and spend time with my family.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
THE VERITAS DECEPTION is a book that germinated in my mind for many years. I got the idea when I was working in corporate marketing and was struck be how susceptible we all are to the messages that inundate us day in and day out. The shift in television and movie content that got me starting to think about THE VERITAS DECEPTION. My father passed away in 1977 and years later I would think “He would be in shock if he came back suddenly and saw these shows.” That’s when it hit me, that it was happening so slowly, no one realized it. I wondered, what if there was an intentional, orchestrated, a campaign to attack morality and distract individuals from their true purpose in life? These were the seeds from which THE VERITAS DECEPTION was born. Ironically, some of my original show ideas for the book actually became shows by the time I finished writing it and I had to ramp things up even more.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I google images of settings and characters to use for information.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Growing up I read many of Susan Howatch’s books and loved her character development and how she could make you side with one character until you heard from the next. Caleb Carr’s writing in THE ALIENIST was inspirational as is all of C.S. Lewis’s work. Dean Koontz is another influence- his books are more than just page-turners- he really knows how to develop character and deliver a message with his books.
What are you working on now?
My sister and I are working on our next psychological thriller about two best friends who haven’t spoken in 17 years and are now trying to repair the relationship.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m on social media quite a bit and promote on Twitter and Facebook.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing and work on your craft. Don’t get stuck trying to sell that first novel but write the next and the next.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be the best version of yourself. That’s an admonishment from my friend and author David Morrell. Don’t try to imitate someone else but find your own voice.
What are you reading now?
THE WIDOW by Fiona Barton
What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope to continue writing a book a year.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born and raised in Emerald ( a rural town in Queensland, Australia) , where I still live today with my husband, our two little boys, Pomeranian dog and Ragdoll cat (we had to get female pets so that I wasn’t outnumbered by all the boys!).
I wrote my first novel ‘Convergence’ while still in high school and it was published when I was 18. After my youngest boy was born, I released my second novel, “Mistress of the Crossroads”.
Writing has always been my escape and my passion, I love the challenge of creating a whole little world. That’s something that my sons get from me, they spin many terrific tales- almost all of which involve dragons or dinosaurs.
I was a writer before I became a mother, but becoming a mother has taught me so much about creativity. Watching my little monsters grow has taught me that there is always time to make a mess and that creativity can come from anywhere!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The latest book is called “Mistress of the Crossroads” and it was inspired from so many places and so many conversations. I have such close relationships with my parents, sisters and of course my wonderful husband. What started as an idea in a dream found form and shape while I rambled on and they listened patiently and supported me.
The heroine in this book has such beauty and strength and refuses to lose her identify in the evil that surrounds her. This strength is inspired by my beautiful younger sisters, the eldest of whom is the cover model for this book. They are strong beautiful women with such passion in their bellies and fire in their hearts. I hope that one day they will see them selves the way that I see them and they will be proud.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have two little boys who are 3 and 1 year old! I’m a mum and a wife first, so I only ever write when the kids are asleep. Which, if you have young children then you’ll know is the real challenge!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
There are so many amazing authors that have inspired and influenced me over the years. I love Karen Marie Moning, Keri Arthur, J K Rowling – just to name a few.
What are you working on now?
We are currently working through some medical concerns at the moment as a family, but I am working slowly on another book. As I said before, I am a wife and a mother first, so we will have to see how this one comes along!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Goodreads was a wonderful platform with my first novel. Readers Favorite also did a wonderful review which was very helpful! The publisher was involved in the marketing so I had less involvement last time.
The new book has been released independently through Kindle Direct Publishing, so my husband and I are learning as we go this time around!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Be proud of what you do and who you are! Write things that make you happy. I think when you release a book, especially independently, its such a personal thing. Its so easy to be crushed if people aren’t receptive or don’t enjoy the story. If you write for you, something that you love and are proud of, then no matter what anybody else thinks of your work, you can always hold your head high.
Remember, everyone has different taste. Have confidence and don’t be afraid to take a chance on yourself!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Follow your dreams, reach for the stars, believe in yourself and love who you are!
(Mum always say the sweetest things to us , dont they?)
What are you reading now?
The Four Legendary Kingdoms- Matthew Reilly.
My husband finally finished it last week, so now its my turn!
What’s next for you as a writer?
I would love to keep writing, exploring new stories. I think that’s all any writer can hope for!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Four Legendary Kingdoms – Matthew Reilly ( so I can finish it!)
Feversong – Karen Marie Moning ( Because I’m dying to read it)
Its time for bed – Mem Fox (Because we’ve been reading it to my son every night for 3 years and its a tradition that I’m not ready to give up yet!)

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a reference librarian at a public library on Long Island and a member of Sisters-in-Crime, International Thriller Writers, and the Cat Writer’s Association. I have a BA in English and an MLS in Library Science from Long Island University. My three published novels include Cloudy Rainbow, A Stone’s Throw, and Between a Rock and a Hard Place (Solstice Publishing, 2016) that has been on the Amazon bestseller list for cozy mysteries. My romantic comedy novella, When Jack Trumps Ace, was published in February 2017. I have also written articles and short stories for several anthologies of various genres. My third Cobble Cove mystery, Written in Stone, will be published in Spring 2017. I live on Long Island with her husband, daughter, and two cats.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
A Stone’s Throw, the first of my Cobble Cove mysteries, was released on March 8. It was originally published with another publisher in 2015. The new edition has an additional chapter and updated editing. The story was inspired by a combination of experience and imagination. The main character, Alicia, is a librarian like me, and she shares some of my personality traits. I also have quite a bit in common with her love interest, John, who is a newspaper publisher and also writes mysteries. I worked on my college newspaper and was always interested in writing. John’s father, Mac, is based on a man I worked with in college who ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches every day for lunch. I also based the Siamese library cat on my own Siamese, Oliver. As for the plot, that was more imagination than experience.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t think they’re that unusual, but I write very early in the morning. I’m up before five sitting at the computer working. I also rarely outline my plots. I often surprise myself by my endings and twists because they come to me as I write.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
As a librarian, I’ve always been an avid reader so have been influenced by many books and authors. I was hooked on gothic romances and romantic suspense novels when I was a teenager and read almost all the books by Phyllis Whitney, Victoria Holt, and other authors of that genre. I later developed a love of cozy mysteries, which you might consider my series. I have a collection of cat fiction from authors such as Carole Nelson Douglas, Rita Mae Brown, Shirley Murphy, etc. I also enjoy some historical fiction and time travel novels. One of my favorite titles was The Eight by Katherine Neville. Currently, I enjoy books by Mary Higgins Clark and Nora Roberts, her standalone books as well as her JD Robb “In Death” series. I’ve also been sampling lesser known and debut authors of various genres.
What are you working on now?
I’m on the edits for my third Cobble Cove Mystery, Written in Stone, that I anticipate will be out in April. I also have a standalone psychological thriller, Sea Scope, that I’ve been querying to literary agents in the hope of landing a deal with a larger publisher, although I’m extremely pleased with my current publisher, Solstice Publishing. I have many other ideas and books/stories in different stages of completion.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m active on social media – FB, Twitter, Google+. I have a website/blog: https://debbiedelouise.com where visitors can also subscribe to my twice monthly newsletter that includes a monthly contest. My cat character, Sneaky, also has his own blog where he interviews other pet characters and pets of authors. It’s located at https://sneakylibrarycat.wordpress.com. The Cobble Cove Chat Facebook group is hosted each month by a different character from my series and where readers can interact with them and also enter monthly contests.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up. Write because you love it, and don’t try to change the way you write to satisfy anyone but yourself. Be proud of your work and strive to improve it to keep your vision of what you want to share with readers. Support other authors and learn from them.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The same as I just gave. Most important of all, to keep writing.
What are you reading now?
I’m judging a few contests at the moment so juggling a couple of books. I was asked, as a librarian, to judge the Romance Writer’s of America contest I’m also judging the Cat Writer’s Association contest that I judge and enter each year. For my own pleasure, I’m reading J.D. Robb’s “Echoes in Death” and Peter Swanson’s “Her Every Fear.”
What’s next for you as a writer?
As I mentioned above, I’m hoping to complete several projects and maybe start something new. I’d like to find a literary agent. I have an idea for another series and standalone novel. Lots of ideas but not enough time to devote to all of them. I’d also like to continue the Cobble Cove series, but I’m looking toward taking a break after my third and working on other projects.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
That’s not an easy question. Because I have such a huge TBR pile, I would not bring something I’ve already read. I’d probably want to bring a few books that have been sitting on my home bookshelf gathering dust because I haven’t had time to read them yet. I also might like to bring a book or two on writing including marketing and social media promotion and maybe The Guide to Literary Agents, so I could research finding one while I wait for rescue.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have been writing since I could hold a pencil, just haven’t had the opportunity to publish much. I have primarily written short films and feature films but am now going back to long form fiction. I have also written and drawn my first graphic novel (“Wraith of Love”) which will be a three volume series.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“Shadow of the Knight” was inspired by a friend confessing to me one night that she would walk down dark alleys at night and hoped that Batman would come and rescue her. She was serious. Scared me a little but I’ve also never forgotten that conversation.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Only that my weird cat, Indiana Jones, likes to get in the way and be as distracting as possible.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Jim Butcher is a huge influence, as is Chelsea Cain, Stephen King, Neil Gaiman, Ed Brubaker.
What are you working on now?
Working on three projects right now – the second issue of my graphic novel, adapting a screenplay into a novel with artwork, and writing a self-discovery book about my year-long adventure in China and how it helped me get myself together.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Still figuring that out.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Quit reading about doing it and just do it. Write. It may suck but don’t let that stop you. Write more. Write again. Get unbiased friends who are willing to give you harsh criticism to read your book, take their notes, and write more.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Just write. Get out of your head and write.
What are you reading now?
Finishing Chelsea Cain’s series. Reading batches of comic books for inspiration.
What’s next for you as a writer?
What’s next is to finish the three projects I’m working on and get them out into the world. Get busy at comic book conventions selling my comic books and my novels.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
“The Tao of Pooh”. Something by Jim Butcher. An art coffee table book.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I guess you could say I’m a woman who wears many hats. First and foremost, I am a mother. My family is the most important thing in my life, and the source of many of my strengths. I have also been a music teacher, have developed myself as a personal development expert, and I am building a business. So I tend to juggle a lot. But my passion is writing. started writing after I had my second baby. Although I loved my children, I felt like there was something more for my life so you could say I picked up the pen in search of fulfillment. And I found it. Reading has always been a source of great pleasure for me, but writing became almost an addiction. There is so much magic in finding worlds and characters that live inside your head, and then transporting them onto paper. It’s incredible to experience the story as it’s woven through me.
To date I’ve written two books (published one), am in the process of writing two more, and have written and published one novelette. My next book will be released later this year.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My debut novel is a romantic thriller titled Where Shadows Dwell and wasn’t inspired as much as it just flowed through me. It was a story that pulled me along with it. Writing it was a discovery. Ultimately the story wove itself around the themes of letting go of the past, discovering one’s value, and learning to love, which is a theme that often weaves itself in my life. So in a way my life inspired the story.
My next novel, The Dark of Letum, is a fantasy and was inspired by the power of the mind and what humans are capable of creating once they’ve tapped into the magic of the individual they are. I’ve seen so many beautiful things come to life once a person truly connects and begins to love who he or she is as a person. So I wrote The Dark of Letum to explore these themes. In addition, the book was inspired by my experiences with postpartum depression. Those were very dark days in my life, and ultimately I had to learn to rediscover myself to gain freedom from the depression. The Dark of Letum explores the contrast of dark and light, love and hate, and the power of creation. I’m very excited to release it.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I wouldn’t say I have any unusual writing habits. I will admit that I often eat when I write. I tend to get snacky when I do. And I put a lot of notes on sticky notes before sticking them to my computer or my monitor. My desk is a bit of a mess
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have been greatly influenced by Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged. That book changed my life. I hope somebody my books will provide something incredible for other’s the way Atlas Shrugged provided something incredible for me.
Richard Paul Evans is also a huge influence simply because of what he provides is readers. His books are more than an escape for people. They are something people can connect to, and when they finish the book it’s not uncommon for his readers to walk away entirely inspired to live beautiful lives. I love what he provides.
I have to say Stephenie Meyer inspired me for a couple of reasons. First, I started writing after I read Twilight. For some reason I decided that if she could write a novel, I could write a novel. Maybe it was the simplicity of the writing coupled with the powerful emotions she pulled out of people. I’m not sure, but she unlocked the magic in me. She’s also become an inspiration simply because of what she’s done since then. She’s used her talents to follow her passions, which appear to be in the production of film. I love that. I love that she’s out there doing what she loves and making her life incredible.
What are you working on now?
In addition to The Dark of Letum, I’m working on a second novel in my Shadows Universe. This book explores the life of different characters connected to the same family line as Lily in Where Shadows Dwell. I’m also working on a novel titled A Song of Hope. This book has some magical elements in that the main character has the ability to heal others. But she has to use her gift carefully because every time she loses it, she dies just a little bit more. I’m writing this story because I think there is something beautiful inside the concepts of selflessness and love, particularly when they’re confronted by fear and the knowledge that something will be lost. This character has been a joy to discover because, like most of my characters, she’s come to life in ways I didn’t quite anticipate.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
The best method I’ve found so far was offering my book free for a limited time, and then promoting the free novel on 10-20 websites. I had to do some research to find lists of places willing to promote. However, I’m still trying to learn all the nuances of marketing and since then have started developing different strategies, and hired an expert to help me get myself established and promote my work beyond what I’ve been able to do up to this point.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Start writing and don’t stop. Writing talent isn’t necessarily something you’re born with. Some may be, but for the most part it’s something you develop over time. So my advice is to keep writing and writing and writing until it becomes a part of who you are. And study. Research. Connect with other writers. Build a community for yourself of people that are passionate about the same thing you are.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write every day. I’ll own that I don’t actually follow this one, but when I have structured my life to allow for it, my writing improved dramatically. The quality improved, it became easier to get the words on paper, the characters became clear and solid in my head, and the words just started to flow. It’s as if you unlock creativity by writing daily. It’s much more fun!
What are you reading now?
I just finished reading Saving Lord Whitton’s Daughter by Susan Tietjen. I also recently read The Mistletoe Series by Richard Paul Evans, and have some non-fiction books I’m always chipping away at as well.
What’s next for you as a writer?
What’s next for me is publishing my fantasy novel and completing the second novel in the Shadows Universe.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Hmmmm…. this is a surprisingly hard question.
I think I would take Little House in the Big Woods because I’ve always felt she described how their life was in such great detail that I could use it as a survival guide if I ever got desperate.
I’d also take Atlas Shrugged for two reasons. First, because I love it. Second, because it’s so big that it would keep me entertained longer than the typical book.
I’d probably take The Davinci Code or Angels and Demons. I really do love Dan Browns work.
Last, I think I’d take Pride and Prejudice. or maybe one of the non-fiction works of Stephen Covey. Of course, limiting an author to four books is like asking them not to breathe. So in the end I’d probably just cry in misery at the lack of good books available.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m Chad Elliot – “The Confidence Doctor” – and I’m the owner of Seattle Improv Classes. I teach classes in improv, creativity, storytelling, and communication. I also do coaching calls in a way that’s very personalized. In fact, I’m the first person in the world to make one-on-one coaching an integral part of improv training. I have a rich and diverse background in teaching and coaching. What I really do is assist you in learning about yourself, the world, and how you can get a lot more of what you want in your life. And, I make sure we have a lot of fun doing it!
I had a rough childhood that was quite lonely, so I became incredibly devoted to learning how to improve myself, develop confidence, and become a strong communicator. I spent 3 years working at a small company that lead week-long intensive workshops in personal development, psychology, and communication. I’ve learned to combine the tools, strategies and techniques I’ve discovered with fun and playful games from improv.
I’m paid to make people uncomfortable by pushing them out of their comfort zone! For some reason they thank me! (Seems odd, huh?!?)
If you’re interested in taking my classes, coaching with me, or having me come into your organization to lead a powerful “funshop,” you can email me at chad(at)seattleimprovclasses.com Visit Or, call 425-270-1989.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Improv Manifesto: 7 Simple Steps to Unstoppable Confidence, Powerful People Skills, and Unlimited Creativity! (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XH8SYSS)
It’s my first book. I actually wrote a much longer book on personal development first. But, I realized I ought to get some experience publishing. So, I took a bunch of my writings I’ve used for my website and workbooks I give my students and brought them together. Then, I polished and structured them. Initially I just wanted to get something out there quickly. But, it took longer than I expected because I wanted it to be the best. (I’m a bit competitive in that regard.)
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t get writers block. With my background, I know too many tricks for that to ever happen. I don’t understand people who say they have writers block. Makes no sense to me. You sit. You write. You save the editing for later. (Most people try to edit in their mind before they write anything. Bad idea bears…)
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I was actually influenced a lot by marketers. Marketers have to write extremely well. Writing sales letters especially. They have to get their audience’s attention immediately or they lose. Very thoughtful. Very scientific. They can’t afford to try being artsy because people will ignore it. They have to grab people by throat. Boom!
I’ve also studied a famous hypnotist named Milton Erickson. His method of therapy often involved telling people stories. Stories are very powerful. They put the listener or reader into a trance. It’s worth understanding how that works.
What are you working on now?
Promoting Improv Manifesto right now. Working on my next book, it’s on how to create more passion, intimacy and love in your relationship.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Your secret weapon is the people you know. The people who know you, trust you and care about you will help you more than you can imagine possible.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Shut up and write. Sit your ass down and start typing. If you put it off until tomorrow, you’ll die before you do it. Get ON your ass and right. Don’t edit. If you’re stuck, write badly. That’s fine. Just start typing the word blah over and over again. Blah blah blah. Until you come up with something. But, don’t sit there waiting for inspiration or the right idea. It won’t come.
Practice telling stories to other people, orally. You get direct feedback. Have someone else read what you wrote, aloud, while you listen. Notice their responses. Read it aloud yourself. Find out where the flow doesn’t work.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be a good person.
There’s no such thing as failure, only feedback. (Until you die, perhaps…)
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
A complete collection of the works of: Anton Chekhov, Mark Twain, Rudyard Kipling and… Milton Erickson.
Oh, and a book to write in myself!

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
So far, I have only written two books and published one. However, I have multiple manuscripts stored in notebooks and on hard drives that I’ve stored throughout the years. It wasn’t until recently that I mustered up the courage to forge ahead and start polishing and publishing these pieces.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My novella ‘Show Her’ is set for release on April 1st, 2017. ‘Show Her’ is a psychological thriller that examines the social norms and gender roles that are prominent in the United States. As with all my work, it was inspired by stories I heard from other people and struggles I saw (and even helped) some people push through in order to find happiness, redemption, and a clear sense of self.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Since I’m not certain how the majority of my fellow authors complete their process, I can’t really say. It seems like a lengthy process to me, so it might be a little more involved than what some people do.
I generally outline the plot (even if the story is already complete, this can help me find holes), box specific scenes I want to make sure are included, get a first draft done, spend a few days doing something else, reread for edits, revise the first draft (and then complete that process again for the second draft), then I workshop parts of the piece with 2 different writing groups, then I make revisions based on their notes, then I reread this third draft after spending some time away from it, then I hand the fourth draft to my cartel for critique while I’m simultaneously giving it a last few passes, then I create the fifth draft to reread myself and revise as needed before publishing. Whew!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Authors: Dr. Seuss, Maya Angelou, The Stratemeyer Syndicate, Terry Goodkind, Toni Morrison, Alex Haley, J. K. Rowling, Stephen King, Sister Souljah, Michael Crichton,Nikki Giovanni, Edgar Allen Poe, and Ayn Rand.
Books (besides those the aforementioned authors wrote): The Miracle Strain (Michael Cordy); Oh, Kentucky! (Betty Receveur); Memoirs of a Geisha (Arthur Golden); Les Miserables (Victor Hugo); The Hundred Secret Senses (Amy Tan).
What are you working on now?
I will be putting together another collection of poetry after ‘Show Her’ is published. ‘Feign’ was published years ago and is a collection of work from my earliest writing years up until 2012. It’s time for me to publish some of my newer work.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m hoping Awesomegang will be, but I’ve only recently started using other websites to promote my work. Ask me again in six months and I can give you a solid answer!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Go. Just keep moving forward at all times. If you can only get a page written a day, do that. Whatever it takes to not be on your death bed thinking ‘I wish I would have…’
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
To not become paralyzed by other people’s opinions. Learning to accept the fact that everyone is not going to enjoy my work (and some will even hate it) has been key for me to have the courage and discipline it takes to turn what was a quiet love into a loud, openly-shared joy.
What are you reading now?
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
What’s next for you as a writer?
I want so badly to secure a booth at the Decatur Book Festival! I have a GoFundMe account set up and everything! So, hopefully, you’ll see me there before this year is up!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
You just couldn’t help but throw this one in there! ARGH! Well, I guess The Stand (Stephen King), Atlas Shrugged (Ayn Rand), And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street (Dr. Seuss); and…The Coldest Winter Ever (Sister Souljah).

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a Libra, and a person who likes the old lifestyle of pre-1900s. And i am an African/Ugandan born, Uganda being the Pearl of the continent. However i have an international aspect of sharing my writings across Africa to the diaspora. I love reading everything that is interesting, from written plays to poetic novels. I have so far written two books in form of stage plays and they are available on Amazon ie Devils of Melidda & Enigma Of Scintella as well as other e-book platforms. I am soon finishing my third written stage play (The Witch Is Dead) and embark on marketing them timelessly as i work upon some two or three unfinished manuscripts. I look to creating more friends and authors via this space at Awesomegang. Thanks!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Devils of Melidda and it is what i submitted on this space. And what inspired it is simply one thing, i love reading about the ways of the past western lives especially the livelihood of outlaws. PS, the book is purely fictional when it came to crafting and writing it down on script
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I am tamed with writing a brief summary (plot) of my book and then proceed to craft the flow or sequence of the story out of the brief summary.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
To be honest, it was Homer and his biopic novel, The Iliad. Shakespeare’s works come in handy as well.
What are you working on now?
Right now i am still figuring out on the tremendous marketing opportunities available for me to promote my books online. And this platform is among my targets. Away from that, it is definitely writing more and more.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Honestly, i am still learning everything as a beginner especially when it comes to promotion of my books. But i am looking forward to using this space always to grow my audience.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Since i am getting away from being a new author, i would advise the newbies, do not rush, study the concept of your book and the field of authorship and know, everything to success does not come as a windfall.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Time and Patience, once mastered, you will always when you believe.
What are you reading now?
A lot of stuff, from Hidden Figures now to Broadway stories. Novels, not really. Maybe reading plays sent to me via my mail.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Promoting my books and dream bigger about them.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Books on camping, travelling, survival tactics, anything erotic and one book truly, the Bible.
