Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I reside in Frederick Maryland but born and raised in Miami Florida. I am married with three kids two boys, one girl. Ages 10, 6, and 3. Thus far I have written 5 books, A Voyage Through Rhyme- which is a poetry collection, 50 Shades of Progress- Which is a collection of political essays. Trump v. Clinton: The End of Democracy- which was an account and analysis of the 2016 primary season. What a Twist- Which is a collection of short stories . They are all available and published on Kindle format by Amazon.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The book is called The Savior? it is basically a tale about Man vs. The Gods if you will. It is inspired by the audacity of humanity and the notion of can we save ourselves from the wrath of the Gods… if they want to destroy us all. At the end however it may not be all that i seems to be.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really, the biggest problem at times is finding the time to sit down and write especially with all the demands that come along with being the father of three kids.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
When it comes to my writing there are no direct influences that I specifically use when I write, if some shines through from different authors it is an accidental thing.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on getting a science fiction trilogy published, it is called the Silberian Trilogy and I hope to have the first part of it published some time this year.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Well I am usually most comfortable with Facebook and Twitter. I find those are the easiest ways to connect with potential readers.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Be patient… be very, very patient. There are times where you will feel like you are moving nowhere but the truth is in today’s publishing climate one is trying to stand out among the sea of thousands, so you have to be patient and naturally very persistent… Oh and most important of all never stop writing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
To be patient and that this is not an overnight thing.
What are you reading now?
I just finished reading 11/22/63 by Stephen King and I am currently reading Interface by Neal Stephenson.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Well hopefully the successful publication of my science fiction trilogy… and maybe an adaptation to film or television? (anyone want to work on a screen play?)
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
That is an immensely difficult question because there are so many I would bring with me… so can’t really answer this.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve written two contemporary romance novels about characters from Silver Bay, a small lakeside town in Wisconsin. I’m currently working on the third book in the series and have a rough plan for the fourth one in mind.
I absolutely love to laugh and have included humor in my books whenever possible. In fact, my editor referred to my books as romantic comedies which came as a surprise to me since I didn’t know that’s what I was writing!
I’m still not convinced they’re true comedies, but that’s what’s wonderful about publishing in today’s industry. As an author, I no longer have to follow strict guidelines or rules in style, novel length, language, or heat level for one specific category of book. I can blend styles and merge categories to create stories that truly fit the individual characters involved.
So while my voice will carry through each of my books, the level of humor, heart, or heat may vary depending on the specific story being told. In the end, my ultimate goal is to always write a book with an enjoyable mixture of emotions, a faced-paced plot, and a lovable hero and heroine who may not be perfect but will always be perfect for each other.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
A Venture of the Heart, the first book in my new Silver Bay series, was released in January of 2017. While the hero and heroine in the book are from Silver Bay, the majority of the book takes place in Costa Rica. This wasn’t my intent when I started the book, but as the book progressed, it felt right to keep the story based abroad.
A trip my husband and I took to a small luxury resort in Costa Rica inspired the setting of the book. We loved visiting Costa Rica’s natural beauty and friendly people and hope to return there with our kiddos someday.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t believe any of my writing habits are unusual… but I do need a relatively distraction free environment to work. I usually only write when my kids are at school and my husband is at work. I’ve tried writing when they’re home and typically give up when we hit the rate of approximately one interruption per sentence written.
When I’m trying to write, it usually goes something like this… “Mom, can you help me find my white socks? You know, the ones with gray on them not the ones with gray and black on them.” And yes, sadly, I do know which ones he means. Or “Mom, I’m bored. Can I bake some cookies. I’ll do it all myself. I just need help reaching the ingredients, using the mixer, putting them in the oven, taking them out of the oven, and cleaning up.” Or even, “Mel, the dog threw up. Twice. But don’t worry about cleaning it up. We’ll walk around it until your done working for the day.” At which point, I’m usually done working for the day.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love Janet Evanovich’s sense of humor and her entertaining characters. I read everything she writes. As for blending humor with heavier emotions and great character depth, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Susan Mallery, and Jill Shalvis are my go-to authors.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on the final edits of the second book in the Silver Bay series, Crashing Together. I plan to release it in April of 2017. I’m also working on the first draft of the third book in the series, Lucky in Love. It’s scheduled to be released in the fall of 2017.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I let a marketing expert promote my books so I can focus on writing. (It’s good to know my limitations, right??)
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I suggest new authors think of writing a book as the culmination of completing many, many, many small tasks. It’s too overwhelming to think about writing an entire book as a whole. So don’t. Don’t worry about writing a book, work on creating great characters. Then work on your conflict and plot. Then your setting. Then your first paragraph, first scene, first chapter… or whatever order works for you. The point is, if you keep checking those manageable-sized tasks off your list, you’ll eventually end up with a rough draft and someday—countless hours later—a final draft.
Also, writing takes a ton of hard work, dedication, and self-motivation. It can be frustrating, and it can really suck at times. But every now and then, you’ll have a good day. You’ll write a scene, a paragraph, or even just a line that squeezes your heart and lifts your spirits enough to keep you going to the end. And when you finally hold a copy of your book and you then think about all the crap it put you through, you realize… it really was worth it.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Whenever I’m struggling with a scene and want to quit early for the day, I think about this quote from Nora Roberts. “You can fix a bad page. You can’t fix a blank one.”
That’s usually enough to keep my butt in the chair and my fingers on the keyboard.
What are you reading now?
I just finished First Star I See Tonight by Susan Elizabeth Phillips and am about to start Turbo Twenty-Three by Janet Evanovich.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I plan to complete books 3 and 4 of the Silver Bay series. After that, I may write more Silver Bay books or I may create a new series. Or I may do both!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Tough question! Hmmm… probably Natural Born Charmer by Susan Elizabeth Phillips for romance, a book on Astronomy & the Universe for education, and anything by Bill Bryson for laughs!

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
At this point I have written two books and currently working on a third. I have a few more ideas for the next couple of years.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The most recent book I’ve published is Climb to the top: a guide to unleash your inner entrepreneur.
What inspired writing this book was researching aspiring and also successful entrepreneurs.
I believe entrepreneurs are a fascinating group of people each unique to his or her pursuits.
I was compelled to write this for aspiring and struggling entrepreneurs, to give them words of encouragement and advice to help them push forward in their pursuit whatever that may be.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I can’t say that I have any unusual writing habits. At least they are not strange or unusual for me.
Typically I set aside time to type a few thoughts out and sometimes I write when the words come to me.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I would say that authors such as Jen Sincero, Wallace Wattles, and Napoleon Hill are a few authors that have influenced and inspired me.
What are you working on now?
Currently I am working on my third book. Originally I was going to write another self help book until I experienced a life changing event in August of 2016 when my home flooded along with many others in South Louisiana.
I decided to share my experience along with the ups and downs of going through a tragic event along with the hardships and emotions faced in the aftermath and rebuilding process.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice for a new author is to do your best. Though it is not easy work it can be very rewarding. Don’t bother writing about something that doesn’t interest you. Write about what you love and or a topic that interests you. If you do that you’ll find the task of writing far less of a chore and more of a joy to do.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I have ever heard is to do your best in everything you do.
What are you reading now?
Currently I am re-reading Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I plan to continue to write. It’s something that is a joy for me and as long as I have breath in my body I will have something to say.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Though I cannot think of specifics at the moment, I woukd probably have one book that would be a “how to” type book in order to survive the wild on my own.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a stay at home mom of two kids. I have always dreamed up stories and been a fan of reading. Finally one day, I decided that I would rather try self publishing and fail than to wake up fifty years from now and wonder what could have happened. So, I closed my eyes and jumped in. I published my debut novel, A Chance at Forever in November of 2016 and I just released book two, A Second Chance at Forever.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
A Second Chance at Forever is my most recent book. Mostly, I just wanted to create characters people could fall in love with.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write out my story as fast as I can, then I go back through and make changes and add in details while making corrections.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Too many to list. Almost any self published author inspires me. My biggest influence would have to be Author Kelly Moore. She has become a close friend of mine who helps me through the daily struggles in the self publishing world. I don’t know what I would do without her.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on the third and final book in The Chance Series, Our Last Chance at Forever.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’ve been trying a few different ones. Love Kissed Book Bargains has been the most effective.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write what you like. Don’t let people tell you that you shouldn’t write about this or that. Stay true to yourself. Close your eyes and jump!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Everyone has an opinion and not everyone will like your book. Don’t take it personally.
What are you reading now?
I just finished Pennies by Pepper Winters
What’s next for you as a writer?
After I finish The Chance Series, I am going to give my full attention to a book I’ve been writing for awhile now. I just haven’t had time to give it my full attention yet. It’s titled, Finding You in the Darkness by K.B. Andrews
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Ea and I´m a writer from Sweden. I always loved English and I started learning really young! I studied Creative Writing in Sweden and in the US where I did my BA in Theatre and Media Arts, with Screenwriting emphasis. There I also took Storytelling classes and the whole process of film, from idea to editing.
I have 4 children and I just recently started actually writing my books, but I have been thinking about them and planning for them for 15 years! I worked in a pre-school for 6 years and I studied to become a Montessori teacher, and it all has helped me develop as a writer and teacher. That is why I could write 21 books in a little bit over a month. And I have many more on the way.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book finished is called : “Talk to me about Giraffes”. The inspiration about the “Talk to me about”-series is to give parents (or grandparents) and children a chance to discover the world together and also to get to know each other a little bit more. I have always loved giraffes so this book is filled with beautiful photos of this wonderful animal! It has facts, questions and I try to always include something that is not supposed to be there, to let the children be a detective and find the error themselves!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write many books at a time! I usually don´t have the focus to just write on one book, so I have at least 2-4 books that I am working on at all times.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I read a lot of fantasy growing up, especially David Eddings. I also read C.S. Lewis and after skipping the first chapters I also manages to finally read through The Lord of the Rings. After that The Hobbit followed and I really loved the Harry Potter books even though I was initially skeptical because all the hype about them!
What are you working on now?
I am working on a writing course, the next book in the Talk to me about-series, a Storytelling-series to stimulate creativity in the child and a Teach-your-child-to-write-at-home course!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
So far I have promoted myself mostly on Facebook, but I am learning about promotion every day! I found this site: awesomegang.com and it seems great!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I love Albert Einstein Quotes and so here goes: “Imagination is more important than knowledge.”
What are you reading now?
I am reading two books: Lee Child´s “Make Me” and “Utan att Veta” (translation of the Swedish title: Without Knowing) by Sofia Jarlo. I love Lee Child´s books and think that Jack Reacher is a great character. Also Sofia Jarlo is an upcoming Swedish children´s author and it is her first book so I am excited to read it!
What’s next for you as a writer?
Right now I am working on 4 books and a new idea always come before I finish another, so I will keep writing books in new series. I will also work on editing my Fantasy Novel which is long overdue for publishing and once it is released I need to start writing on the second part.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
A diary, my Lord of the Rings trilogy and 2 blank books for writing.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My first book…as I figured, that the remaining 150 years of my life may not be enough to say what I wanted to say to the fellow humans, I started to write. To be totally honest – this novella became a by-product of my musical in the works. After the fourth staged readings of the show at a theater in Hollywood, the Artistic Director approached me and said: “You music and lyrics are great, but, the script is looking pretty good too. Michael, we would really like to have you as a member of our production company…all you have to do is write some short play…give me 15 or 20 pages,” he said. ” Hence, I began writing The Gardener as a short play, but it became a much longer book.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Gardener. A number of events have inspired this story, but the common thread is the beauty of the real people in the real world. Sounds pretty harmless to you, isn’t it? But there is an underwater current here: the Return to the Right Side of Truth, from the Other Side of It, from the Fantasyland.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Perhaps a desire to have a hit. Where each word (just like each note) is in its own place…can not ad or delete any, and want to read (hear) it again and again. These are the properties of a long-lasting hit.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
No one, really. I don’t have an analogue mind…I don’t create by analogy.
What are you working on now?
Just recorded a (hopefully) hit song with a Russian star Svetlana Portnyansky…a single release is days away…working on cover design and such. Coming back to the (hopefully) hit show, the musical, which was sort of put on a back burner due to a gradual loss of enchantment with the script…now it’s being re-built on a much sturdier literary foundation.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have not done any promotion yet…waiting for more reviews…
Do you have any advice for new authors?
You have two different worlds: the congested world of a Fantasy Land, with so many writers, ideas and competition, and a not so congested world of Real Beauty, on the Right Side of Truth. But for the later you will need some serious life experience…I few soap operas you’ve watched will not suffice.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
It actually comes from my hero, Jose, the gardener: “Bend, but never break!”
What are you reading now?
Plato: The Republic
What’s next for you as a writer?
After the show is finished, I’ll probably take a solace from the turmoil of the enormity of the project in writing another (hopefully) hit novella.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The first two would be the first and second most popular books of all time: The Bible and Don Quixote, followed by The Gardener.

As an author Amanda Quick has greatly influenced my style of writing. Love her ability to intertwine romance and mystery.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an imaginative wanderer, determined to make my dreams come true. I have a passion for writing and art, and I work every day to combine these two things into one big dream. I love watching funny heartwarming movies and cartoons, listening to positive music, and reading to my mom. I am currently attending college studying to be an Early Childhood Teacher, and upon simple knowledge retrieval, I am minoring in Animation. I live happily with my family in a calm place in New Mexico with my two precious Chihuahuas, Jiggles and Mia, and my two precious female reptiles, my Red-Eared Slider Turtle Leonardo da Vinci and my Russian Tortoise Dr. Theodore Geisel Suess.
It is hard to say how many books I have written exactly because there are a lot of books that I have written on paper and have stuffed away in a backpack. However, recently I have been taking out those stories, typing them on the computer, editing it before publishing it for others to see, which is my ultimate dream! I am new to self-publishing, so I have published very few things, but I am working on a lot of things!
I have published a Play called THE CLASSROOM ALIENATION, a sci-fi comical play about a teacher struggling with the education system, and a mysterious stranger claiming to be alien shows up in his classroom and claims to have a clue as to what to do to make a classroom actually resemble a classroom again with the help of some of his “friends” that happen to be nothing more but his different personalities. I also published a short story called THE ECOSYSTEM FACTORY, and that is about a family that leaves their home island to travel to another foreign island and visit The Ecosystem Factory, the tallest and most colorful building in the world that spends its time creating the plant life that Earth already has to offer on its surface in order to ensure future survival.
These are the books I have so far, but I assure you that there will be A LOT MORE in the near future for you to enjoy!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The latest book that I have published is a poem book called Existence: A Poem Book About Life.
The main thing that has inspired me to write this book was the curiosity of poetry. I didn’t even know what poetry was until I looked at examples, and at first, I thought there was some kind of method, and later thought you can do whatever you want. It turns out that it’s kind of both at the same time. You can pick the type of poetry you are writing. For example, if you want to write a Haiku, it has to be a line of five syllables, another line of seven, and then another line of five, and that’s it. However, if you choose to make a poem of any desired length and words, then you would use the kind of poetry they call Free Verse.
I thought this whole invention of poetry was pretty exciting, using formats that tell you what to do and others that let you do whatever you want as well as getting inspired to use words that would normal not use when you are writing a book where you are telling a story (even though you can do that in poetry as well). I started experimenting with all this new knowledge and I found myself in another world. I thought it was the coolest thing ever, so I wanted to express some of the main feelings that humans feel with specific truthful topics because that was all I wrote about. So then formed it all into a book that talks about the way things go in our very existence, and thus, the book was born!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I do have a few writing habits I can’t do anything about.
The main habit I have when it comes down to writing is that whenever I have an idea for a book and I think it’s great, I write it down in a notebook, and eventually I start writing its story, but I don’t end up finishing it, and that makes the list of pending stories in my backpack all the greater. I get some of my ideas from dreams, so I force myself to at least write the ideas down in a notebook, but not start anything with it until I have finished the last thing I have been working on. I get overwhelmed knowing there are so many stories I need to finish. I don’t know which one to do next or how to find an ending for one and so I frustrate myself.
Another writing habit I have is that there are days where I need quietness in its entirety (well, not in its entirety, sometimes I like background sound) for me to finish the next book and be in my own world. That will get me typing page after page. It is RARE! I always hit that time where I NEED to have music playing loud to continue writing my stories. Whenever I do not know how to continue a story (because we all reach that time where we get stuck), I start to put music on, and somehow it feels as though the music is inserting the idea of the story continuance in my brain and I have to type it out quick, which is my goal to finish the book.
One last writing habit I have is that I want to type fast and never stop to think. Once I have a set idea for the story, I want to move the story forward without pausing the typing. They say the people with more intelligence write faster because they think faster, so they trip over their words and scribble. Facts tell you that when you are writing, that you should keep writing and writing and just let the ideas pour out because you could lose that rainbow your imagination has created. People like me sometimes gain the habit of finding an error as they type down their story and they want to fix it right on the spot instead of commencing the writing. It is really hard for me to hold back on that when I type a story, and I am guilty of losing my rainbow sometimes because of this.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Some of the authors/books that have influenced my own dreaming of being an author are James Patterson and his series Maximum Ride, and Darren Shan and his book series Cirque Du Freak. Two books that have also inspired me are Coraline, The Last Book In The Universe, and the Holy Bible because Jesus Christ is my first influence upon following my dream, and ALL of Dr. Seuss, who is my second biggest influencer! I couldn’t put any of these books down. All their stories made me want to express my own ideas for the world to see.
What are you working on now?
I have been working on a lot of books, but put my focus in very few at a time. I am working on more short stories and developing ideas for Children’s Books. The latest book that I am working on and NOT published is called OXOX, and it is a picture book for young adults containing unique anthropomorphic characters. It is a comical sci-fi and fantasy book that will bring you a new story that you can relate to. I don’t want to tell about it until it is out there for all to see.
What has inspired this book to be created is animation–shows like Courage the Cowardly Dog and Invader Zim. I have a love for shows that have to do with outer space, shows that contain comedy and warm the heart one way or another, and shows that are overall animated. I believe that animated shows offer heartwarming stories and good lessons in a way that any live action piece of work could never offer, even though there are great works in that category as well! These two shows in particular sparked my imagination to create the book of OXOX and have motivated me to show the world the voice that I hold and it made me more confident to follow my dream as an author in the first place.
This book is my purpose for becoming an author. I had slowly been developing this idea since I was in seventh grade. I can’t wait until the book is finally finished, so everyone can see it!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am not aware of any best method or website for promoting books. They say to always tell friends and family and use social media. I think reaching out to promoting services and then sharing those pages in your own social media or to your buddies should help at least a little, if anything. If anyone out there knows better ways, then I am all ears!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
The one overrated but divine advice I have for new authors is NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS. You go after it, no matter what. Everyone deserves love, happiness and for their dreams to come true. You can’t let anything stop you from having it. You need to remember that you have to work for it and not sit down and wait for a miracle to occur. Sadly, we have to work hard for what we want, but we will have it. You’ll see!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I have ever heard comes from a quote by Fritz Lang, a filmmaker. His words gave me a jump of confidence and motivation when I heard them. “Don’t follow trends; start them.”
What are you reading now?
I am reading Lemony Snicket’s The Series of Unfortunate Events.
What’s next for you as a writer?
My plan as a writer is to continue writing stories that will touch people’s hearts, and I hope that one day many, many people will know my voice because I care about that more than making money, which is why I am going to offer ebooks for free for people to read. I also hope that one day that my cartoon character book can become a movie or a show that I could work with as I continue writing until I die.
Oh, and being the best teacher ever because I want to brighten kids’ lives!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I was stranded on a desert island and I was allowed to take 3 or 4 books with me, I would bring: The Holy Bible, anything by Dr. Suess himself, and The Last Book In The Universe.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I consider myself to be an average person with very basic values, loving the experience of life and the wonders that sustain it. Having divorced myself from a lot of useless baggage heaped upon me early in life (race, color, culture, tradition, social and institutional expectations, etc.), I am free to be the being that I am meant to be. The standards I set for myself far exceeds any that society would place upon me. Having retired from a successful career, I now live to highlight not the things that distinguishes us and sets us apart, but things we have in common, the things that can bring us together.
I have written two book to date. My first book is a book of poetry, “The Rhymes of My Life”. It is a collection of poems that capture my life’s learning experiences, published in 2014.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is “Spiritual Being-ness I, the first in a series of books on spiritual perspective. All of my writings are based on personal learning experiences, that I feel practically any other person can identify with and perhaps benefit from.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Since retirement I have made it a point to break the mental programming of being on a schedule. It’s common to have day activities and night activities. I no longer have them. I write or eat or sleep or go fishing at one in the morning or one in the afternoon. I like to take contemplation walks, usually around 5 miles. During that walk I think about topics that I can write about and record them.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I am influenced by the spiritual masters of old and new. I am most recently drawn to The Urantia Book, which chronicles a broader view of humanity’s history on this planet.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on something targeted at the younger generations, hopefully to inspire them to look to more than the material being.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Facebook.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Listen to your heart; write your truth.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“The greatest power I have is the power to determine what I will think next.” (Ford Johnson)
What are you reading now?
I am currently reading “A Course in Miracles” (Foundation for Inner Peace)
What’s next for you as a writer?
I currently have 3 books in various stages. I write as I am inspired.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
very J. Longley has been a writer for as long as she can remember – first ‘publishing’ in the first grade, and then again the following year. She still has copies of both of these books, even though they’re largely illegible.
The Blizzard Chronicles, starting with Just Another Season is the culmination of several years efforts, many rewrites, and a great deal of editing. She hopes you enjoy reading these stories and getting to know these characters as much as she enjoyed. 2 additional books in the series are written and ready to be published as well.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Just Another Season – I’m not sure there was an inspiration exactly. It’s just been a story floating around my head in some form or another for the better part of 10 years!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to let the story write itself, which has led to some unusual outcomes for me. For example, in my soon to be published book, the ‘main male’ was supposed to be his cousin’s “wingman”. It didn’t turn out that way at all!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Any good hockey romance novels
What are you working on now?
The 4th book in The Blizzard Chronicles.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My own FB page? Good question. I’m still a newbie at all of this!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up. Lame, I know, but so many times I’ve wanted to just chuck this all away and I haven’t…
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Read your book. Then read it again. And read it a few more times. Read it until your eyes bleed and you’re certain there are no more mistakes. Then, and only then, hand it over to someone else to read.
What are you reading now?
Waiting to read Las Vegas Sidewinders: Toli & Tessa (Las Vegas Sidewinders, #6).
What’s next for you as a writer?
Continuing to work on The Blizzard Chronicles (there are 8 books planned currently).
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Hockey romance books. None in specific. Just something to make me think of somewhere cold since I can’t stand the heat!

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a UK based author living in Kent, England. I grew up with a passion for reading thriller novels at a young age, as well as watching the many dark, dystopian films that premiered during that time in the nineteen eighties. This would prove to be a massive inspiration for me in later life when I started to create my first book—Conservation.
My debut novel has taken me four years to write, with much revision and editing along the way. I think I’ve achieved what I was aiming for, which is a book that will leave you scared, disturbed, and wondering what earth has in store for humanity in the future.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called ‘Conservation’. It was inspired by the many sleepless nights I have worrying about the future. Overpopulation, climate change, poverty and famine are all very real problems and I wanted to tap into these subjects to create a tense, chilling novel that will stick in readers’ minds for years after reading it.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to write better at night than during the day, but my most unusual habit is writing large sections of early drafts on my smart phone. It’s really convenient, and enables me to write whilst I’m traveling about.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The first person that always springs to mind when I get asked this question is Thomas Harris. I read Hannibal when I was younger and that book will always be one of my favourites.
Clive Barker is another influence to me, and of course, Stephen King.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on my second novel which explores the subject of cryonics. Like ‘Conservaton’, this will be set in the future, and I hope to finish it by the end of 2017.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
For the last six years or so I’ve spent a lot of time building up followers on Twitter, so I always post new updates on there.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write about what you want to write about, not what you think is expected of you.
Also, when writing your stories, pretend that you will be the only person who will ever read it—you will be less reserved and inhibited in your approach that way.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t try to write a book that fits in with current trends, because the books that are on the shelves right now are at least two years old.
What are you reading now?
I’ve just finished reading ‘The Martian’ by Andy Weir.
It’s an impressive book and he must’ve done a huge amount of research for that. It does get just a little bit tiring halfway through in my opinion though.
What’s next for you as a writer?
For now, I’m trying to promote my debut novel—Conservation—but at the same time I’m steadily chipping away at book number two.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Hannibal by Thomas Harris, American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis, and The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Once I fell in love with Regency England, I haven’t stopped writing about it–and now 23 books later, and a number of novellas and short stories, I still find it a fascinating place for stories.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My upcoming book, SIX IMPOSSIBLE THINGS, comes out in late April, 2017. The heroine, Roselie Stratton, was a character in two previous books, THE VISCOUNT WHO LIVED DOWN THE LANE and THE KNAVE OF HEARTS, and I was intrigued by what sort of secrets she carried. She just seemed the sort of smart, keen, observant young woman who would chaffed under the ideas of what was proper for a lady to do and not do. So I wanted to give her an adventure worthy of her intellect and talents.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I can write anywhere–especially since I hand write most of my first drafts. So I’ve written in coffee shops, at the orthodontists waiting for my kids, on trains and planes, on the beach, at the pool. Where ever I find myself, I’m usually writing.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
My first love was L.M. Montgomery, the author of the Anne of Green Gables series. Her words, the poetics of her prose just opened the world of words to me. And when I got older and started reading romances–the really early ones–they told stories of brash and adventurous women that I loved.
What are you working on now?
A very unusual project that I am not breathing a word of. It is a story that has been haunting me for ages and finally I am going to take the time to write it. So exciting!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My readers! They are great at telling their friends and families to go read my books. It is the highest praise and an author’s greatest source of promotion. A genuine thank you from a reader to any writer is when they urge others to read your stories.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Finish books. Don’t start and stop and start another. Finish a book. You’ll learn more in writing one entire book than if you start twenty different ones.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write from your character’s heart. Get right into the depth of the story. That isn’t always easy to do, but if you are persistent and keep layering at the story, revising until you find the right pieces, then the story will shine with authenticity.
What are you reading now?
The Blood Song series by Anthony Ryan.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Six Impossible Things is the last book in my Rhymes with Love series. So the writing world feels wide open right now. I am so excited to find new stories to tell.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The complete works of Shakespeare–there is so much to unpack there and discover.
The Blue Castle, by L.M. Montgomery– my go-to romance
The Complete Idiots Guide on How To Get Off A Desert Island

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m twenty-seven years old and I come from one of the most beautiful, yet out of the way countries in the world-New Zealand. Which might leave you wondering why I wrote a book about the United States and the Middle East, but I’ll answer that later.
I really love cars a lot! Along with reading, writing (bet you didn’t see that one coming) and just learning in general.
I have written one full-length novel, but over the years I have written a number of unpublished short stories, skits and plays for different events that I’ve been involved in.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest novel is called The Ulterior Motive and it was inspired by three things: A nine year old boy, an old boss and Tom Clancy. If you want to hear the whole story you’ll have to buy the book because it’s in the back of it. To post it here would probably be a bit long…
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I am the king of procrastination and distraction! I can easily get sidetracked when I’m doing research and end up spending time reading about things that don’t really relate to the scene I’m writing. Although sometimes this has given me fresh ideas for another part of the story so it all works in the end.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I first read The Hobbit when I was eight years old, then I moved onto the Lord of the Rings and I really loved the Redwall series of books by Brian Jacques when I was a kid – That guy describes the most amazing world of talking animals and incredible feasts that make you hungry!
As I’ve grown older I have really enjoyed authors like Lee Child, Tom Clancy, Robert Ludlum, and Charles Dickens. I know Dickens is hard to read but I like listening to his books on Librivox when I’m going somewhere, they seem easier to get into when someone is reading them out loud. Dickens was a master storyteller, A Tale of Two Cities is definitely one of my favourites…
What are you working on now?
At the moment I’m working on the second book in the series, I think I’m going to call it ‘The Gamer’s Pledge.’ I don’t want to give too much away, but essentially a young hacker genius from North Korea has to flee to South Korea and he takes up e-sports and becomes really famous. North Korea sends a death squad after him and ends up killing his uncle instead. Out of revenge, and his previous political sympathies, he sets about trying to liberate North Korea from the communist regime by making a number of terrorist attacks look like they were intentionally committed on behalf of North Korea. It will have most of the same main good guys as The Ulterior Motive, apart from a Donald Trumpesque president which will be a very fun character to write.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
This is a hard question to answer, the fact is I get paid the most if people buy directly from the e-store on www.JackColeston.com. Having said that Amazon is the elephant in the room and I need purchases and reviews on there too. If you are considering purchasing The Ulterior Motive then I would suggest you do what’s best for you. It is available on Kobo, Barnes & Knoble and itunes/ibooks also.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Buy a bunch of books on Amazon about how to write and study them well. Also I would recommend joining a group of writers where you can share excerpts of your writing for fair critiques. Other people eyes pick up on so many things that you miss when you are writing! It took twelve drafts to get this book out but it was worth it to have something that is polished and professional. I am part of Skywriters on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/SkyWrite/) it is a closed group but if you are a keen new author then I’d be happy to help you join. We have bi-weekly Skype calls and everyone is really friendly and nice, even when they tell you that something in your writing sucks/needs improving.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t let anyone tell you that something isn’t possible. We’re not here in this world just to live for ourselves, everything has a purpose and should be done with a purpose. Be intentional in the way that you live and try and find a routine that works for you. If you have big dreams break them down into little steps, you’ll get there eventually!
It took me over two years and a lot of patience to get to publish The Ulterior Motive.
What are you reading now?
Last week I finished Echo Burning (Jack Reacher book 5) and then I started reading War and Peace by Tolstoy, and it’s pretty damn awesome! (I’m a third of the way through, it’s a long haul)
I’m also reading Max Hastings – The Secret War, it’s a non-fiction about spies in WWII and Max Hastings is the man when it comes to WWII volumes, but they are hard to with lots of heavy/depressing content so you don’t really want to read them all in one go.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I have ideas for four more books in the series (including The Gamer’s Pledge), after that I would like to write a dystopian Sci-fi novel because I am a Sci-fi geek among many other things. My idea is kind of like a reverse Martian set three hundred years in the future where an Anarchist hacktivist group hack into the nuclear weapons systems of the world and detonate half of them in the earth’s atmosphere to destroy all the electronics and wipe out a bunch of society with the other half…
I’ve also got an idea for an absurdist novel called ‘Troubled Joe’, it came out of a writing excercise I did a while ago. Basically everything crazy that could happen does happen to a gun-toting loner who hates everybody else but always manages getting dragged into situations where he has to help others.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
A trick question right off the bat! Ha! As of this interview, I have written and published 2 novels and one military history book, with another novel scheduled. However, I wrote another (unpublished) novel 30 years ago, so technically I have written 5 books, not 4.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The forthcoming novel is titled Standing In The Storm. It’s a direct sequel to my first science fiction thriller, Standing The Fina Watch. I have a strong passion that each of us must stand up to defend not only our nation, but citizens who cannot defend themselves. If you need help, ask. If you are able to help, give. Since I’m dealing in military SF, the heroes of this second book are both women warriors because the obligation to our fellow humans is not dependent on gender.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write much better listening to hard rock and roll, usually my favorite band, Status Quo. Almost every word of the first two books in my Last Brigade saga was written with Quo playing in the background.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Wow, there’s a lot of them. Robert A. Heinlein, Roger Zelazny and Robert E. Howard are the big three. All are very direct style writers. Howard wrote the way he wanted to write, broke almost every “rule” and invented a whole new sub-genre of fantasy. Fritz Lieber was a genius at writing a buddy series, Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser. Karl Ewward Wagner’s Kane series is unforgettable. As a stylist, William Manchester was brilliant. As a businessman writer, Lawrence Block stands above most others. And who can’t be influenced by Elmore Leonard?
What are you working on now?
A lot!
Book 3 of The Last Brigade, working title Standing At The End.
A NF comparison book titled We Are Rome.
A Civil War history book.
Bloody Roads West, the German Defense of Vienna, 1945
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Postcards. I hand out promo postcards everywhere I go. Seriously, hundreds of them.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Make up your mind whether you are writing a book, or talking about writing a book. If you’re writing one, then you write. It’s not rocket science. But a lot of people talk about writing a book, maybe start and then stop, but never actually do it. The whole trick is typing ‘The End.’ It changes everything.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Listen to the experts, but trust your own instincts.
What are you reading now?
The Last Panzer by Wolfgang Faust.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Audiobooks. I want to try my hand at narration.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Churchill’s History of the English Speaking Peoples. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. Robert Heinlein’s The Past Through Tomorrow.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a writer, photographer, and psychotherapist living North of Boston. I’ve been taking photographs since I was six and writing since about that time (though not professionally until I was in my early 20s). I came to psychotherapy after a transformative near-death experience shifted me toward art and healing. In addition to ‘Paths to Wholeness,’ the book I am promoting here, I am the author of two coloring books for adults that are based on a series of images I call Flower Mandalas, as well as a book about American folk music and three books about computer software.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is ‘Paths to Wholeness: Fifty-Two Flower Mandalas.’ In it, I distilled the best of what I’ve learned on the two-decade quest since then, from my career as a psychotherapist, and in the many years I have been on the planet.
As a therapist, I accompany my clients on the sometimes smooth, sometimes rocky journeys of their own paths to wholeness. We form a bond, and I serve as both companion and guide. They trust me because they know, as the late Leonard Cohen put it, “I’ve been where you’re hanging, I think I can see where you’re pinned.” In this book, I hope to engender a similar sense of accompaniment. Many of the people who have most influenced me I encountered in the pages of their books or in exhibitions of their work, but as I took in their thoughts, ideas, experiences, and imaginings, my interactions with them felt like a personal relationship. Here you will find the outline of my own path to wholeness, the teachings that have guided me, and insights I’ve gained along the way. I offer them to you in the same spirit that authors and artists from the past have shared their teachings and experiences with me.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Nothing unusual that I know of, no.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve been influenced by many, many people, but some that come immediately to mind are William Blake (‘The Marriage of Heaven and Hell’), James Agee and Walker Evans (‘Let Us Now Praise Famous Men’), Joseph Conrad (everything), Georgia O’Keeffe (‘One Hundred Flowers’), Harold Feinstein (‘One Hundred Flowers’), and Thich Nhat Hanh (‘Being Peace’), Peter Elbow (‘Freewriting’).
What are you working on now?
Learning how to be a self-publisher! And developing a community for whom I will create my next book, which may be about aging.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m experimenting with Amazon Marketing Services ads and am partial to the methods Tim Grahl developed and recommended.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just the obvious: Keep going, follow your instincts, and pay attention to advice that feels right and file the rest for later consideration.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you don’t blow your own horn, nobody else will.
If you don’t ask, (she) (he) (they) can’t say yes.
If something’s working, do more of it. If it’s not, do something else.
What are you reading now?
‘Stories of Your Live and Others’ by Ted Chiang (retitled ‘Arrival’ after the movie came out) and ‘The Heart of the Buddha’s Teaching’ by Thich Nhat Hanh.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m planning to reduce my therapy practice soon and start one new project (probably an image/essay book on aging) and combine two books I started but never completed into one.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
My Kindle! Okay, that’s cheating. I suppose one of them really would be the complete works of Shakespeare. Another would be the best survival book I could find. A compilation of the Buddha’s teachings would be in the mix, and so would the most complete encyclopedia of medical issues and how to treat them available at the time.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
I just finished The Kill Keppler Club, a short story inspired by a visit my son and I made to Prague, where we found ourselves lodged next to the house where Johannes Keppler, the famous astronomer, lived four centuries ago.
Goose Lane Editions have also just published an e-edition of my award-winning book, Adele Hugo: La Miserable, with a new Afterword detailing a fascinating attempt to authenticate a painting which may be of Adele, and just may have been painted by legendary French painter Edouard Manet.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to write in bed, or lying on the floor beside the fireplace. I get really cold when I am writing!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I absolutely love The Beastly Beatitudes of Balthazar B by J. P. Donleavy–madcap, yet unbelievably sad. Jane Austen cloaks hilarious satire in prim and proper societal mores, while Gabriel Garcia Marquez combines historical fiction with a kind of psychedelic mythology. These are all different writing styles which I admire for the authors’ abilities to create several different worlds operating at once, all perceivable in radically different ways for those who look hard enough.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on two short stories: Voodoo Vortex and Magic Carpet Ride, part of the Badass Hippie Tales series. I was inspired by the quirky small mountain town where my brother resides, and also by the unique and somewhat crazy characters I have met during my lifetime. Badass Hippie Tales allows me to roll everything into one big sticky pie–and bake!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use Facebook (www.facebook.com/lesliesmithdow and Amazon (www.amazon.com/author/lesliesmithdow) as well as Twitter (@lesliesmithdow)
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write, write, write! Do it every day. It is like practising a sport. You will get better.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Several supercilious experts have told me that there was no way I could master a particular topic because I did not have the brainpower. This was the best thing they could have done for me, because I went right out and proved them wrong! Don’t let others’ attitudes influence you!
What are you reading now?
Ancient Rome, by Nigel Rodgers. The book is so heavy I have to sit at a desk or it will crush me.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I am going to Rome on a trip in the spring and I hope to be able to finish an intriguing short story I have started about a guy who lives in Ostia, in a slum apartment building, but mysteriously has quite a bit of money. I am hoping to discover how he came by all of this cash.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would bring my Kindle, which would allow me practically all the books I could read. These would include everything written by Jane Austen, Simon Sebag Montefiore, Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Agatha Christie.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
This is my first book and I just sent my next book, Understanding Pregnancy Sickness As A Gift, off to my editor. I am the mother of four incredibly passionate kids who lifeschool. I am so blessed to have an extremely supportive and loving partner who is an elementary school teacher and loves to cook. Our family loves to learn how to do things on our own, including hacking alternative medicine, recycling computers, and figuring out the mystery of how our lives unfold.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Understanding Your Child As A Spiritual Gift was inspired by my life with my husband and daughter. I was desperate to figure out how to stop the chaos, so I watched for patterns and began developing a theory. As I began to share my experience with others, I learned that we were not alone in our experience and that this theory was actually a new perspective on parenting. The more and more I talked about this new parenting theory, the more people urged me to write about it so that others could benefit from the theory as well.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I love to write while listening to my four kids play with their friends.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Louise Hay, Heal Your Body, has probably influenced my work the most. I was inspired to finally write about pregnancy sickness because of Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert.
What are you working on now?
Understanding Pregnancy Sickness As A Gift and Voices of the Young: B’Nai Mitzvah Drashes To Inspire You
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am still trying to figure that out because I was not even on social media until I wrote my first book. I have met some interesting people who have interviewed me through Facebook groups.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just start writing. Commit to doing a specific amount of time each day or week and don’t forget how much can be done in small pockets of time. This book was written in thirty to sixty minute chunks. Let the ideas come to you and trust that it will come together.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Have kids.
What are you reading now?
Currently, I am reading Another Day by David Levithan. I just finished two fabulous books, Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher and The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie. I love teen fiction and find it happens to be a great bonding experience for my daughter and I!
What’s next for you as a writer?
I am planning to add to my Understanding series with Understanding Generational Patterns As A Gift,…Your Pet As A Gift, … Your Grandchild As A Gift, …Your Student As A Gift. I am also planning a memoir, Just a Taste.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

Luigi Wewege is the President and CEO of Vivier Group a multinational financial group of companies, providing its services worldwide through representation in jurisdictions across Africa, Asia, Oceania, Europe and South America. The group of companies is comprised of: Vivier & Co, Vivier Capital, Vivier Developments, Vivier Investments, Vivier Ventures, and launching shortly Vivier Growth Fund. Outside of Vivier he serves as the Non-executive Chairman of Nikau Global an international trade and development firm, as Partner/Director of Palmetto Global Ventures a bespoke financial management consultancy firm headquartered in South Carolina, and is an invited member of Boston, Massachusetts based non-profit organization the Young Entrepreneur Council.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Motivated by my current work running a boutique financial services firm, and witnessing first-hand how the banking industry has been evolving at a rapid rate, I became inspired to write and document my experiences, which lead to the publishing of the book: The Digital Banking Revolution. It’s considered a timely analysis of how financial technology companies have rapidly emerged, and transformed the traditional retail banking industry through disruptive innovation.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Writing always starts with a coffee due to being predominantly a night owl. I am at my most productive when it’s quiet and I can work without interruptions and distractions.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
It may seem a hackneyed choice, but the book: How to Win Friends & Influence People, is an absolute wealth of information. Although written in a time past, Dale Carnegie’s advice on how to integrate technical knowledge, ideas, leadership skills and enthusiasm remains an inspirational and indispensable handbook for any entrepreneur today!
What are you working on now?
Contemplating whether I should start writing the books 2nd edition.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Search Google for self-publishing websites, and not only are there a significant amount to choose from but most of them are free!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
“I am always chilled and astonished by the would-be writers who ask me for advice and admit, quite blithely, that they “don’t have time to read.” This is like a guy starting up Mount Everest saying that he didn’t have time to buy any rope or pitons.” ― Stephen King
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
To always seek input from others so as to aide you in reaching the best possible decision for your business/start-up. This is due to entrepreneurship for the most part being about taking calculated risks and you will always create better strategies if more facts and information go into the decision-making process.
What are you reading now?
Invent It, Sell It, Bank It!: Make Your Million-Dollar Idea Into a Reality by Lori Greiner
What’s next for you as a writer?
Either to write a 2nd edition of my current book, or to rather write an entirely new book on a different financial subject.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Born and raised in New England, I’ve spent most of my adult life traveling the world — more than 200,000 miles a year on average in the last 6 years alone. I started out my career as an entrepreneur, but shifted to finance later in life, and ended up working for some of the wealthiest people in the world managing multi-billion dollar portfolios. I have written one book so far, and have another serious project that is well underway, which I hope to finish by the middle of this year (2017). I studied Philosophy at Georgetown University in DC, and later did my graduate work at the University of Oxford in England (Merton College). I like to tell people that I traded my career to hang out with my Basset Hound, which is more or less completely true. I started my first business so I could bring my dog to work…and I ended up stopping my fast-paced career to do exactly the same thing – to hang out with my dog….
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My book is called “Perceiving Purpose” and it was inspired by my late Basset Hound, Cody. Over the last 30 years since I began studying Philosophy and Theology, and the science of perception, I have been looking for a framework that helps us understand how we can make better choices in our lives that don’t conflict with our sense of self. Observing my Basset Hound gave me the idea that when you start from a point of pure honesty (as dogs are), it is easier to examine your motives and get to the truth of what really guides your sense of purpose. I call it “Dognosticism” — not quite a religion, or a philosophy of life, but a kind of perception that is grounded in truth through critical examination.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t think you can answer this question honestly without completely making a fool of yourself. Like everything else in life, the little idiosyncrasies that we have shine through when we do things that we are really passionate about. My strangest habit is that I can’t write if there is a big mess around me — I can’t handle the clutter. I also can’t deal with noise when I write – so I use 3M 120 dB sound shielding ear muffs so I can’t anything but my breathing, and the beating of my heart. It drives my family nuts, though.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
J.D. Salinger has been a huge influence on me, mainly because of his dedication to the short story, which I adore as a format. I am also a big fan of reading Philosophy in general; The Birth of Tragedy by Friedrich Nietzsche remains an important part of my thinking, as well as assorted works from Kant, Kierkegaard, Rousseau, and Descartes.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on a piece of fiction that I have tentatively titled as “The Crossing Guard”. It deals with several major issues in Philosophy — free will vs. determinism, thought experiments like the the “Trolley Problem”, and perception. It is not as ambitious as it sounds; the story is actually quite fast paced and relatable, but buried into the narrative and the plot are major questions about how we perceive the world, how we deal with ethical dilemmas, and whether or not we are actually free, or blind to our true reality.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I don’t know if I have found a best method yet. I use Facebook extensively to help generate some buzz, but it is terribly expensive. I’m still experimenting with different pricing and promotional models to see what attracts readers, but marketing has got to be one of my least favorite activities by far. I’d rather just write and let someone who knows what they are doing handle it…but that resource is only available to “successful” authors it seems!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Put it out there. Just put it out there. The amount of self-doubt and existential wrangling that all authors seem to experience is just horrific. The reality is, you are not going to please everyone, and you might be surprised by who/how many people you do please with your work. You cannot have a fear of judgment, because you need to hear what works for people, and what doesn’t. If you don’t take the risk, you will never learn from the wisdom of readers who will give you their time. To me, that is the greatest gift – feedback from my readers.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“In each and every thing, assume that you will fail. That way, you will never be disappointed — only pleasantly surprised”.
This was something my father taught me when I was very young. You can interpret it as defeatist, but his message was more complex; show humility — true humility — and take nothing for granted. Be prepared for the reality that life is not going to be fair or always great. Accept it, and have the courage to fail. And if you succeed – enjoy it. But not too much…
What are you reading now?
The Social Contract, Jean-Jaques Rousseau. It is probably the 10th time I’ve read it. I love social contract theory. (snore….)
What’s next for you as a writer?
To take everything I have learned to this point, and keep building on it. It seems like there is never enough time to learn this business — it has changed so much.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Republic, Plato
Deathworld, Harry Harrison
The Bible
The Gita

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hey, gang! I’m a Michigan mom who writes romantic adventure fantasy. So far, I’ve written twelve novels and novellas, and counting.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book, soon to be released by 48fourteen Publishing, is The Duchess’s Descendants (Jordinia: Book 3). It’s the third book in my Jordinia series and was inspired while listening to an episode of Stuff You Should Know Podcast about the Lewis & Clark expedition.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
As a mom, I have learned to write virtually anywhere with anything going on around me. I wrote the majority of my first book, The Duchess Quest, to the soundtrack of my toddler watching The Wiggles!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
J.K. Rowling influenced me to create my very own world. Dan Brown showed me how not to be afraid of being a little cheesy, and how to fluctuate POVs between main protagonists, villains, and even background characters. And Theresa Weir taught me that enemies-to-lovers romances can be super sexy.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on a new book in my Jordinia series! It is technically book #4 in the series, but is the 5th Jordinia story, if one includes my prequel novella.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use Johnny Andrews, Arial Burnz and the gang at Author Platform Rocket. They specialize in growing mailing lists for genre fiction authors.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write a popular genre, like paranormal romance, and write a series! I wish I would’ve done that from the get-go. Also, if you’re self-publishing, be sure to hire an editor first. Lastly, it’s never too late to start building your social media and newsletter following.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
My uncle once told me to “strive for excellence, not perfection”. As artists, we’re perfectionists, but the truth is, there’s no such thing as perfect art. His advice taught me how to finally let go and walk away, stop tweaking things, and just let a project be completed.
What are you reading now?
I’m finishing up Ally Carter’s Embassy Row series!
What’s next for you as a writer?
I have a new fantasy adventure trilogy in mind…but for now, I’m still outlining my next Jordinia installment.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Can I cheat and just say I’d take my Kindle Paperwhite?? Hehe!

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am the founder of an Australian charity called NSW Hen Rescue. We rescue, rehabilitate and rehome factory farmed hens and other animals. I believe being kind to people and animals is just about the most important thing you can do. That is why I’m vegan and that is why I hope to inspire other people to take action for the things they believe in.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Amanda the Teen Activist – Feathers and Freedom was inspired by my work in animal rescue. I wanted to tell the story of the caged hens I have rescued and the story of those who try to help them. I wanted to inspire compassion and kindness in young people.
The main character of Amanda Cotter was inspired by my older sister Amanda Smith. When she was 6 years old she contracted chicken pox and became severely mentally and physically disabled. She never got to experience her teenage years the way most people do. Amanda was a cheeky little tyke as a child and imagining her as a healthy 13 year old activist was so much fun. The book was written for Amanda and I hope she loves it when it is read to her.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I am easily distracted so I usually turn off the Internet so I can’t check social media. I then set a timer for 25 minutes and just write. I don’t overthink it. After all, I can always edit later and I do… a lot. After 25 minutes I let myself have a 5 minute break if I want or if I have a great flow I just keep going. I have a post it on my wall which says, ‘done is better than perfect’. Otherwise I tend to get caught up trying to make things just right first time. I have learned that for me getting the story out is the best way and then lots of editing. Oh and I eat a whole lot of chocolate whilst writing.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Judi Curtin is the best selling author who writes the Alice and Megan children’s book series. I listened to all those books on Audible and loved the tone and style of her writing. Jacqueline Wilson’s books are such fun to read but also cover serious issues. As a kid I loved series books like The Saddle Club and Animal Ark. I have always enjoyed Roald Dahl’s writing (especially The Magic Finger) and as far as books for adults, I love the escapism of chick lit. The Confessions of a Shopaholic series is one of my favourites. I like a conversational style of writing where you feel like you are friends with the protagonist.
What are you working on now?
Amanda the Teen Activist – Feathers & Freedom is out now and I am just about to get started on the next book in the series. Each book in the series will see Amanda tackling a different form of animal cruelty. In the next book there will be a focus on animal experimentation. Amanda will be expanding her activism and probably getting into a whole lot more trouble.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am promoting my books via my website http://amandateenactivist.com and my facebook page http://facebook.com/amandateenactivist. I am also working on a new blog http://theanimals.org.au aimed at young people with lots of ideas on how to get active for animals.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I am a new author myself so I say just go for it. Don’t get stuck on trying to be perfect. Just write.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
When it comes to your first draft done is better than perfect.
What are you reading now?
I always have a few books on the go. I am reading The Wish List by Jane Costello. Re-reading Alice Next Door by Judi Curtin and a non-fiction book Vegan Ventures by Katrina Fox.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I am looking forward to finding out what Amanda the Teen Activist is going to get up to next.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Animal Liberation – Peter Singer
The Magic Finger – Roald Dahl
Confessions of a Shopaholic – Sophie Kinsella – What?! I’ll need something to take my mind off the whole being trapped on a desert island thing.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an Associate Professor of English at Harding University, teaching classes in medieval literature and the literature of C.S. Lewis. So far I have written three books.
Sweet River Fool is a novel about a lonely and homeless alcoholic named Snody who despairs of life until a seemingly chance encounter with a children’s book about Saint Francis of Assisi leads him to the joys of Christ and the redemption of his soul.
The Glory of Kings is a work of apologetic fiction which invites its reader to go on an intellectual and spiritual quest that ranges from Cumberland Island on the Georgia coast to Munsalvaesche, the mystical Grail Castle of Arthurian legend. A diverse array of characters from history and literature emerges throughout the story to confront or guide those who undertake this quest. William Blake, Johann Faust, Julian of Norwich, and many others all contribute to the philosophical dialogue of a perilous adventure that seeks to penetrate to the heart of Christianity and behold the face of God.
Enoch Walked with God is a children’s picture book that I also illustrated. I don’t remember exactly how old I was when I first heard of Enoch, but I do remember being fascinated by him even at that earliest introduction. It is the brief but potent statement, “Enoch walked with God,” which has always captured my imagination. Enoch must have had a beautiful soul and walked with God in many ways. Enoch Walked with God invites children to imagine what some of those ways might have been while presenting them with a wonderful model for their own lives.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to listen to monks chanting as I write. I also like to drink coffee, but that is not unusual.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Some of my favorite authors are C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, William Blake, George MacDonald, and Robert Graves.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on a children’s book (for my second child) inspired by the episode in 1 Kings 17 where God has ravens feed the prophet Elijah.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My website is The Eastern Gate Press.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write what is true. Write because you love to.
What are you reading now?
The Unseen Realm by Michael Heiser
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have lived in Cambridge, England for 14 years now. I’m originally from San Francisco- Berkeley, to be precise. Over the years I’ve written six published books, plus five that are online for free. I also write short stories and poetry.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Painting Pretoria is my latest one. I wanted to write on the theme of strong friendships. I also love the ocean, and that is a big player in the novel. Anna, the protagonist, finds her voice through art. I was going through a transition when I wrote it, and I found making music to be really helpful in that process. For Anna, it was painting.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write anywhere. I often feel like writing most just when I get on a train or airplane- so I’ve learned to carry paper with me wherever I go!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I was an avid reader growing up, and still read a lot. I have so many influences. Science fiction and fantasy are a big favourite of mine. In recent years, I’ve read more contemporary fiction.
What are you working on now?
The Amber Troll! It’s an adventure set in the Himalayas, and it will be published by Handersen Publishing this March. This one’s for middle grade readers (8-12) and troll-loving adults.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am not sure I’m great at promoting them. I always post them on Facebook and Twitter. I take advantage of kdp free dates and list them on the web, where I can.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing. Do it for love, and let the stories flow.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you love the characters, your readers will love them too.
What are you reading now?
Elizabeth Gilbert’s ‘The Signature of All Things’. It’s a historical fiction novel with a great storyline and strong characters.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Maybe another middle grade or YA book, once The Amber Troll is out.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Lord of the Rings (1, 2 and 3 … does that count as 1?)
Meditation by Kamalashila (I meditate, and there is much in that book- one to refer to again and again).

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m just a regular person who always wanted to write a book, faltered many times, but finally decided to go through with it. I love anime, video games, and for the past three years have slowly been converting to a healthier lifestyle with small changes that stick (thank you NerdFitness!) This is my first “completed” novel; I’ve attempted and failed at others and still have a prior manuscript that I finished, but will likely totally revamp in the future to fiction. I’m a newbie/novice in every sense.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Chaos (un)Controlled is my recent baby. Years ago I had a dream that I visited a library world in the sky in another dimension. It stuck with me so much that I used it as a base. I also once had a dream that a mysterious figure was sleeping beside me at my aunt’s old house in Brooklyn; that’s a major incorporation in this story as well. I try to keep a dream diary of my most poignant dreams because they get pretty story-worthy. Sometimes they have their own soundtrack and it’s like one big movie reel. But I pull a lot of elements from my past and fictionalize them: my upbringing, my job at the New York Public Library (best job EVER!), my experience with RPGs in gaming. I love the storyline I created so much, I knew I had to at least let others experience it.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m kind of a lazy writer. When I’m into it, I need to stay hooked, otherwise, I’ll lose interest. Chaos (un)Controlled took me about 5-7 years to finish.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I HAVE to mention J.K. Rowling because Harry Potter was magic. Her writing is magic. But the last great novel I read was Ready Player One by Ernie Cline. It is hard for me to be impressed and I was BLOWN AWAY by that book. He has earned sensei-status.
What are you working on now?
Promoting Chaos (un)Controlled. It’s hard when you have multiple hobbies that you love. Whether you’re into a book, finishing a 90-hour RPG, trying to complete a lengthy anime-series, writing or being active, you have to juggle and some hobbies simply have to take a backseat at the moment. Pokemon GO was definitely a time-sucker last summer. My dedication lost me 14 pounds, haha.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m hoping to learn, as this is my first time going through all of this. I don’t want to stress too much, because I’m doing this more for fun than money. You reach a certain point and realize, if your work is your heart, then it can’t be about money anymore. I’m satisfied with that.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The truth makes the best writing.
What are you reading now?
Please tell me how to read and focus on your own book at the same time. I imagine it’s like deftly rubbing your stomach and patting your head at the same time.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Ready Player One by Ernie Cline
Memoirs of a by Arthur Golden
The Thief of Always by Clive Barker
The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King
-Just one Harry Potter would be torture without the series so I have to omit.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a scientist, having attained Associate Professor level status in the field of Stem Cell Biology. My research focuses on novel molecular mechanisms that allow us to manipulate stem cells and other types of cell, in different organs. The work of my team relates to neurodegenerative disease, neurological disorders, cancer, and diabetes. Thus, I write and publish regularly, but in the research science field.
This is my first attempt at the literary arts. Thankfully, I had great help from www.bewilderingstories.com where I submitted the first iteration of this story.
I also enjoy composing music (often in odd time signatures) and playing the drums. I like photography and I seem to have a knack at enticing cats to pose for me.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The history of this novel started a while back. I had just finished a ten year research stint in the USA during which I lived the “work hard, party hard” mantra to the full extent that my personality allowed, anyways. It was time to go back home, to lovely Athens, Greece. The country fell into financial disarray and my plans to flourish back home oozed down some Athenian storm drain spilling its contents probably close to the Piraeus port where huge boats and superb sea food co-exist. Jobless and antsy, the brain drifted its own way. One day, five years later, I chose to follow, and a novel was created.
I called that story “Oikos Nannion” and I used the pen name “Elous Telma” for practical and artsy-smarty reasons. What now? My buddy, Steve, said, try Bewildering Stories. I did. And they said, OK.
Then the tutoring started. Feedback, edits, weekly insight, email exchanges. This was enormously educational and exciting fun. Don Webb, the Editor, alone was like a school for an aspiring writer.
Thanks, Don.
Wonderfully, Oikos Nannion was given a lovely honor at Bewildering Stories, being one of the submissions to receive the “Mariner Award”.
Once done, Don said I should now have fun with the story. Thus, “Nannion” was ‘born’. I kept all my favorite bits from the original story and I decided to write in fully uninhibited (even unhinged) mode, producing the story I wanted to tell.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
This is probably not that unusual, but I do benefit from changing locations where I write. Writing about the sea close to the sea, for example, gives a different result from writing when far from the sea. Both types of location can lead to very welcomed results.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Being a scientist, a lot of the scientific literature (where one can read about fascinating discoveries in the natural world) have had a profound effect on my writing. But the mind also likes to process these influences and presents them after extensive filtering. Some of it may point towards Philip K. Dick.
What are you working on now?
A supernatural police story. A completely different Universe from the one Nannion lives in.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am learning as I go, being a newbie to this.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
If I succeed, then I should have.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Now, you should have fun with the story”. Don Webb, at Bewildering Stories, after I finish the predecessor of Nannion.
What are you reading now?
Scientific literature… We need to design complicated experiments in the lab.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Promotion, promotion, promotion (while learning how to promote…)
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Something that teaches facts, something that struggles with how the brain works (and how easily it can go wrong), something funny, and one with white pages (if I get to bring a pen along).

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi! My name is German. I am half Argentine, half German (and yes, my name is German). I’ve been traveling for the last three years around the world through every continent except Antarctica (a bit too cold for me), but I still have a lot of places to see. At the moment I’m stopping in the UK in Edinburgh.
MY STORY
Throughout our lives men and women acquire and develop social skills and methods of seduction. Your method may be based on buying flowers, dancing, playing an instrument, complimenting, lying or being completely honest. Quite a few years ago, during my first nights out, my “method” consisted in simply sitting down and waiting for a girl to come up to me…and it worked, but with very few girls! Let’s just say it was a very limited “method”. The desire to overcome that limitation was what led me to research the most effective ways to attract women and improve my social skills. Nevertheless, my main aim here is not to expound on the most effective seduction techniques and methods, but rather on how we can successfully become more attractive as individuals through personal growth and awareness of our own potential.
I used to be really bad attracting women, seriously, I didn’t have any idea of what to do with them. I started as a student in LevantArt, the biggest seduction academy of the Spanish-speaking world and later, co-founder Martin Rieznik confessed to me that his first impression of me was that I was hopeless. But I studied, and studied a lot. My Saturday nights alone watching movies ended and I became a Seduction Coach in the LevantArt academy. Now, after five years of advising hundreds of men of different ages, professions and interests and then two years of travelling around the world meeting girls from all over, this book is the result of all my experiences. The same book (or, as entitled in Spanish, Seductor Infalible) has been successfully published, is currently on sale in Argentina’s top bookstores, and has achieved solid success.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Daccari Buchelli and I am a British born Author. I have always loved reading, ever since I was a small child. Whether Fantasy, Science Fiction, Thrillers, or Young Adult books, I can’t help but dive into as many stories as possible. There is always something more that can be learned from reading or writing something new.
I first stumbled upon the world of Fantasy during my childhood. There were books littered around our home, all promising to spirit me away to incredible new worlds. The Fantasy genre soon won me over and now I cannot seem to escape. My first novel in a Fantasy series, entitled Phoenix, is available on Amazon and follows the lives of two young royals as they chase after their dreams in a world of elemental magic.
I spend my time exploring my own magical wonderlands while focusing on the darker side of human nature. When away from my trusty ball point pen and energetic terrier puppy (Sam), I enjoy art and music, as well as curling up with a good book and a cup of tea or coffee.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Phoenix (Book One of The Peradon Fantasy Series) is a YA Fantasy novel, which was initially inspired by a previous romantic relationship, turned sour. The two main character are polar opposites, a naive Princess of the Flame Realm and a Frost Realm Emperor with many dark secrets. I wanted to capture the significant difference between the two types of personalities and to demonstrate how one can bring nothing but destruction.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’ve never considered any of my writing habits to be odd but must confess that I find it far easier to write in the dead of night. Perhaps it is due to the noise and bustle of everyday life gradually coming to a close. Who knows? The ideas simply begin to fill my head and I find myself writing far more than I do during the day.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The author that has had the biggest influence on my work is Epic Fantasy Master, Terry Goodkind. His series, The Sword of Truth, acted as a great comfort to me when I began to draft out the initial version of Phoenix. His characters have an incredible depth to them that filled my heart with joy and wonder and worked to keep me motivated throughout the writing process. To this day, they still do.
What are you working on now?
At the moment, I’m about to start the third draft of the sequel to Phoenix, whose title and cover art shall be released within the next month or so. This book is just as dear to me as the first in its series, if not more so, and I can’t wait to share it with all of you.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I would say that for the best promotion, you need an all-round strategy that covers multiple platforms. Start by optimizing your author website and blog, interacting with readers and other authors. Building such connections will help to show off the human being behind the books. When people care more about you, they will care more about what you have to offer.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never give up on your dreams. Research all that you can and grow as a person as well as a writer. Experience new things and describe how they make you feel. Connect with as many people as you can, for once they see the person behind the books, you may just pique their interest.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never stop writing. Write every day if you can. Even a few sentences will do.
What are you reading now?
At the moment I’m re-immersing myself in the world of Harry Potter. I’m currently reading through The Chamber of Secrets, one of my favourites. I am always surprised by the skill with which J. K. Rowling creates complex and humorous characters that draw us in the moment we meet them.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I have several projects that shall require my attention throughout the year. I hope not only to release the sequel to Phoenix but also to release a second edition of the first book, having been improved after considering suggestions made by beta readers.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Hmm, a tough question indeed. First, I wonder if I should bring practical books in order to aid my escape, or whether the question relates only to reading for pleasure. I shall take it to mean any books in existence. I would bring my favourite fictional novel, Sabriel by Garth Nix, as well as the three leading books on survival (useful for such a situation.)
