Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Like many authors I’m a seat-of-the-pants writer although I usually have a plot in mind when I begin with a beginning and ending. Then I work on getting from point A to point B.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love Michael Connelly, Sibella Giorello, and Robert Crais.
What are you working on now?
I’m writing a historical WWII suspense titled, Uncommon Valor.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use many websites, but my best are Bookbub, ENT (eReaders Today) and Book Sends.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Learn the craft and join a good critique group. Be open to constructive criticism.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Trust your instincts. No one knows your story and your characters as well as you do.
What are you reading now?
Blackout by John Lawton
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m planning book #4 in the Matt Foley/Sara Bradford series titled, Missing. I will also probably ture the WWII novel into a series. I love the characters.

The Bible
The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom
To Kill a Mockingbird
Trunk Music by Michael Connelly

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Idaho is the first novel I’ve completed and published. I’ve written one other that I finished, but have never been that happy with it. It may stay in the dresser drawer, so to speak, forever.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“Idaho: A (dark) love story.” it grew out of my fascination with the idea of someone committing a completely unsympathetic murder, something like Raskolnikov killing the pawnbroker in “Crime and Punishment,” and then realizing how much trouble he’s created for himself.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I dictate a lot of my work to speech recognition software. This started because of a chronic arm injury that developed during my days as a daily newspaper reporter — a lot of typing! — but I continue to dictate some of my work because I like the oral storytelling approach.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Lots. Vladimir Nabokov, James M. Cain and Patricia Highsmith are among my favorites.
What are you working on now?
Another book that involves a murder, though the real crime is the betrayal of one friend by another.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Facebook, I suppose.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write. Write every day. Get published anywhere you can.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write. Write every day. Get published anywhere you can.
What are you reading now?
A Scandinavian murder mystery whose title escapes me.
What’s next for you as a writer?
More writing.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Great Gatsby. The Oxford Book of American Verse. The Bible, though I am not religious. And something by Zane Gray. do i get a DVD? Fargo.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Lynn Carmer is a talker, a writer, a reader, a teacher, a procrastinator, an avid fan of all things “reality,” and a devourer of all things “sweet.” She has lived on both coasts and everywhere in between. All the crazy characters that live inside her head have now broken free and are running amok. The result? Quite a few steamy and funny Paranormal, Sci Fi and Contemporary romance novels. She has dabbled in a few different genres. Think sexy gargoyles turned to stone; star-crossed lovers living on the planet of fire and ice; and hilarious contemporaries that reference pop culture and quite a few ’80s and ’90s movies and music.
Here’s to hunky heroes and hot-blooded heroines!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called Fervor: The Fervor Chronicles Book 1. It is an interesting combination of Paranormal and Sci Fi Romance. I was inspired by the planet Mercury. Back in the day, scientists surmised one side of the planet always faced the sun, the other the cold yawn of space. When a teacher suggested a strip down the middle might sustain life – bam! – Fervor was born. My characters live and love on the planet of Fire and Ice.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes, probably. But it’s all relative , right? LOL! I say tomato and you say to-mah-to …
What authors, or books have influenced you?
There are so many! So many favorites. I love Christine Feehan, the OG vampire romance author. Nalini Singh, Kresley Cole and Gena Showalter are all Paranormal Romance favorites. For Contemporary I love Lori Foster, Suzanne Brockmann and more …
What are you working on now?
I am working on another Paranormal Romance. This one takes place here on earth. Antares has been sealed in stone until Irisa finds a hidden cave and frees him from years of entrapment. He is Gargoyle. She is Mooncaller.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Social Media is crucial. Ereaderdaily.com has been amazing and I am sure my experiences with Awesomegang.com will be just as incredible.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write, write, write! Vomit it out. Don’t overthink the first draft. It’s supposed to be a steaming pile of …well, you supply whatever word you are comfortable with. The magic comes in the edits! I promise.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
See post above.
What are you reading now?
I am reading Dark Ghost by Christine Feehan.
What’s next for you as a writer?
World domination …one book at a time!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
There are just too many to choose from. I can’t pick only 4!

Sascha writes for Assent Publishing, Red Sage, Secret Cravings Publishing, Sizzler Editions, Totally Bound, and Decadent Publishing.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Slow Burn – A Sexy Spy Thriller
I played the what if game, regarding one of my favorite TV shows, Burn Notice. I imagined if Michael Westen were a puma shifter and instead of Fiona and an ex IRA past, my hero h ad a heroine who was a witch and an empath. And a singer for a death metal band.
Former spy Derrick falls for the sexy spitfire he’s bound to protect, even as terrorists scheme to take her from him – and destroy his way of life.
Description:
Tempting secrets of an angel
Seductive mysteries of the beast
Derrick, a former spy, has been asked to protect the sultry Sonja, a death metal singer whose magical voice grabs him by the balls and won’t let go. He’ll protect her, all right…with every part of his body tight against hers.
Sonja uses her voice to purge her fans of their darkness, their hate and hopelessness. But evil forces want to use her magic for their own ends. All she wants, at this point, is safety for herself and her band.
When Derrick and Sonja team up, Sonja does her best to resist the lure of safety he represents, until a radical league that wants her dead propels her into his arms. Will his help be enough? Or will she lose her heart to him, only to be killed in the process of saving the world?

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really. I’m pretty standard. Pour my favorite drink, crank up the tunes and get to the words.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
JR Ward, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Lora Leigh, darker romance authors of that nature. Lori Foster has had some stuff that’s actually too dark for me. Surprising, I know.
What are you working on now?
The follow up to Slow Burn, tentatively titled Saint in Sinner’s Eyes. It’ll be Max’s story.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Word of Mouth. Basically, I tell everyone I can possibly think of that the book is out. I used to feel bad about this because it seems intrusive but the truth is, that i’m proud of my books, the people in my world are avid readers and if I don’t promote myself, they’ll forget “I” write also.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Get hungry, dive angry.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Knock the crap off and write.
What are you reading now?
Come Undone, Boxed Set of romance stories inspired by Duran Duran
What’s next for you as a writer?
Several short stories for a few different boxed sets. We’re looking to recapture the magic with our menage boxed set “Three Times Lucky” that had a heavy romance bent to it, so that’ll be out sooon. I think I have a story for a boxed set/anthology for Blue Remy’s Bad Boys anthology, that’ll be set in the 1920s prohibition era (also a romance) and I know there’s somethign else i”m forgetting…
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
why, Three Times Lucky, Saint in Sinner’s Eyes, and maybe Blink or Art of the Deal.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I started writing romance with Mills & Boon in 2006, and I’ve been with Samhain since 2008. Compromising Positions is my bestselling book, making it to the top spot on Kindle. I’ve released fifteen titles so far.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Caribbean Cowboy is the fourth installment in the Under the Caribbean Sun series. Janny had it in for the heroes in the first three books, so this is where we all find out why.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m not the best typist, so I spend a lot of time checking where my fingers are. When I’m writing a story I like to keep my nail polish the same color.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love Vicki Lewis Thompson. She’s just as amazing in life as you’d think she must be from her stories.
What are you working on now?
I recently finished Just Married, a sexy twist on the marriage of convenience. Up next will be Resisting the Rancher, a follow-up to Anything For A Cowboy.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have really struggled with promotion. The only think I know works for sure is writing another book.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Finishing a book will teach you more about writing than any workshop you could ever take.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Yes, you can. – Lucy Monroe
What are you reading now?
Pioneer Woman Cooks. I read cookbooks like people read novels.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’ve had health issues for the last few years. I’m doing much better now, so I’m hoping to write more.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Some kind of Ultimate Survival Guide and something about first aid. Unless it’s a desert island like Anguilla where cabanas are the norm and books are hard to come by (darned import taxes). Then… a Tawna Fenske to make me laugh, a Donna Alward in case I need the release of a good cry, and a Lucy Monroe to make me think.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born and raised in the province of Quebec and moved to Ontario when I was 16.
I have always been creative and so I chose to pursue graphic design in college. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to work in the field.
It wasn’t until I became a mother that story telling became a part of my life. In 2005 I started writing story ideas down but never seemed to be able to finish anything. Five years later, I finally made up my mind to stick to one idea and complete it. My first novel, Promised Soul, was completed in 2012.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My debut novel, Promised Soul, was inspired by the concept of soulmates and the possibility of people having past lives. I believe that sometimes we can meet someone and it feels as though we have known them forever. There are many stories of children recalling events that they can’t possibly understand or know about. Promised Soul is a fiction novel that explores those possibilities.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know how unusual it is, but I usually come up with the last line of a story first and want it to end. Once that idea is formed I work on the beginning. As for the middle of the story I usually have no idea how that’s going to take place. I sometimes feel as though once the characters have been developed, that it is them who write the story.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Diana Gabaldon, J. K. Rowling have been a couple of my biggest influences. I used to think that to become an author, it had to be something that you studied at. When I read that Diana and J. K. had other careers first I realized that it was possible for me too.
What are you working on now?
I am working on a thriller and a fantasy. The thriller is basically finished, though I need to complete a final read through for errors. The fantasy is almost finished.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have promoted my book on many social media outlets as well as on my website. I have had a couple of successful book signings and look forward to more.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Start your author platform as early as possible. Build your audience even before your book is published. Getting your name out there is very important.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
When it comes to writing the best advice was “Show don’t Tell”. I keep this in mind as I edit and has helped make my stories more descriptive.
What are you reading now?
Right now I am reading Written in my Own Hearts Blood by Diana Gabaldon
What’s next for you as a writer?
To continue publishing books. I would love to make it a new career.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Well if it couldn’t be 4 books on survival skills, I would bring the first 4 novels of the Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon. They are long books and are sure to pass the time.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I grew up in a very small town, about 200 people. I lived on the lake and spent my childhood swimming and collecting tadpoles. I enjoy camping, hiking, swimming, drawing, and writing. I have been writing since middle school, but had to put my writing aside for a long time due to illness of my first husband. He passed away from a heart attack after several years of being bed ridden. After he passed away I lost myself in my writing once again. I remarried and my new husband pushed me to get published, which was not something I had ever thought of doing before. My writing was just for me, something I enjoyed. I have one novel published, two in various stages of edits before they go to the publisher and one complete, but not yet in the editing stage. Other than that I have about 50 started in the computer in a variety of different stages of development.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Infamous A.H. and it was inspired by my love of research. I spend a lot of time researching the past, I love history and I love London, so it was natural for my novels to take that turn.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I am a pantser and I never plot anything out. I suppose my most unusual writing habit is also why I have so many started. I start on a novel, and if it doesn’t speak to me I move on to a new one. I keep moving from story to story until I find one that the characters are speaking to me. I don’t think of myself as the writer, I am the story teller and I am just lucky enough to be allowed the chance to share my characters stories.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
My biggest influence, though not in content, is Steven King. I have been reading his work since long before it was appropriate for me to do so. I also am influenced by authors such as Catherine Coulter and Kat Martin, just to name a couple, but it would take me a very long time to name all those who have influenced me in one way or another.
What are you working on now?
I have two novels that I am trying to complete. The Infamous A.H. a historical romance set in 1800 London England and Lord Dansfire set in 1801 London England. They are the first two in my London Series.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have had good luck with Twitter, Goodreads and Facebook. Facebook is getting a little worse since there are so few people who see my posts unless I promote it and then it is not a sure thing that more than a few dozen will ever see it.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Do not get discouraged by naysayers or rejections. Keep at it and you will find happiness and success.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Believe that you can accomplish something and you can. Believe it is impossible and it is.
What are you reading now?
Rereading for the umpteenth time Clan of the Cave Bear
What’s next for you as a writer?
Working towards being a full time writer.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I need 8. The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. If I just absolutely had to pick 4(I am not going with 3 if I have the option) it would have to be The Gunslinger, The Drawing of the Three, The Wastelands and The Dark Tower. Rudeness, how can you live with yourself making me break up the set.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi, I’m Teri, and like almost everyone- still discovering all of who I am.
I’ve worn lots of hats over the years- i’ve done everything from marketing and management, to sword-smithing and horse training. I am a trained herbalist, bodyworker and primarily- a trained and initiated shaman,
I have always been drawn to and fascinated by the vastness and mystery of the universe around us. I have always been extremely sensitive, emotionally and psychically (for lack of better word:). Anything occult: ghosts, ESP, out of body, life-after-death/ reincarnation, other realms… always fascinated me and at a deep level have always believed in that there is far more than we can perceive with our senses. In fact, I remember reading The Hobbit, at age eight- and hunting for hobbit-holes, and turning around quickly, in the hopes that I would catch one out of the corer of my eye ( i remembered reading they were very fast and hard to spot:).
Later, as an adult, I got drawn into the sci-fi and fantasy genre of books it opened a whole new realm of reading, where I took what I understood of literature, anthropology and religion– and dove into the diverse possibilities that existed in the imaginations of other writers.
During that time, I was also living with a sword-smith/ armourer,, and we worked renaissance fairs and craft shows- where I met a lot of like-minded people.
After that demise ( there’s a whole story in that one, I’ll tell you one day;).. I finished a masters degree and taught ( briefly). before i “remembered” why i didn’t like school when i was a kid.. and got outta dodge!
since then, I went through another round of life-adventures, primarily around lyme disease- another story- and ended up writing several nonfiction health books, based on what I have learned about the critical connection between diet, environment, lifestyle and the immune system, a big part of this was being introduced to shamanism, and being trained by some of the most regarded spiritual teachers and gifted healers-shaman in the field.
So, out of this comes my fiction work… building fantasy worlds that also delve into very real things, important social and environmental topics… and a lot of just plain cool-shit:)
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
the title of my latest boo is Cafe of the Hungry Ghosts: behind the veil of Ordinary.
It was inspired by my work with and personal experiences as a Shaman. While many of the events in the story are fictitious, they are built upon real events and very real concepts
I think the title came to me first- I have noooo idea where… and then I played around with what the title meant. Why was it interesting to me. I know it is not anything remotely typical for a fantasy, supernatural or genre title…
From there, the main character introduced herself… and while she has had a few minor changes- I think that was where and how the rest of the story unfolded.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
hhmmm. I generally write in short intense bursts- completing a book or story within several weeks. I have found that if I let stories sit… I tend to lose the clarity of the story- much the way we remember our dreams with intensity when we first wake up, but then later on, only vague bits and pieces.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I am not sure if influence is quite the right word- because in literary terms, i believe that influence indicates that a writing style is adopted or modeled. I can say that there are authors whose work I have greatly admired and why. perhaps those things have influeced my work;)
CJ cherryh- i cannot say enough good things about her writing. I love how she has a vast range of learning and life experiences that she has drawn on to create real worlds and powerful, complex characters, and i like how she uses the genre to explore important issues- with subtletly and nuance. Her writing – especially some of her earlier writing- is tight, clean and powerful. She is a master storyteller
Joseph Conrad- who also crafts subtle but powerful stories. I like how he creates questionable heros: people who are cast into difficult situations, are forced through circumstances to confront their inner-shadow, externally… and how that inner-outer conflict mirror each other.. in other words.. the external serves as a mirror for the internal– and what those two things say about each other. is a man a hero, if he chooses a heroic death, rather than face the truth of his own failings…? a question for which there is no clear answser, just as in life.
David brin- his ability to look at concepts of “other” and to allow the reader to really experience both the reality of not-human, but equal, and sometimes superior.. that allows us as readers to ask what makes us human, and what kind of people we want to become…
Stephen Baxter- just because I love the concepts of physics that i can never-truly- get my mind around. He has an incredible depth and knowledge base that he brings to his books, to create vast worlds and timelines that stretch into infinity… and stories that weave expertly through that hard science.
What are you working on now?
Right now, I am working on the very beginning of the sequel to Cafe of the Hungry Ghosts. Just ideas and thoughts weaving in and out in my imagination. What characters might be coming into the story, what connections different characters might have when put together, etc.. and where Wayra’s journey through her personal and cosmic struggle will take her:)
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still working on finding the best place to connect with my readers- especially now that I have genre-jumped. Non-fiction is about building a base, around a topic. becoming a thought-leader on something. Fiction writing shares some of that, but it is very different.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
for new authors, I would suggest. Read good writing. learn how to step back and ask, what makes this a good book and a good story. Whether it is classic literature, genre writing, or nonfiction. Look at how other authors have addressed similar issues. For example, if you want to write a story about a woman who struggles with social constraints- perhaps looking at Jane Austen or the brontes- to understand an entire period of time and writers who struggled with that, and perhaps delve outside of fiction for something like vindication of the rights of women. all of these aspects would improve insights and perspectives- whether it is romance, or social issues or other.
and- find a good community of other writers, online or real-world, who can continue to offer critical insights and commentary, as well as writing advice.
and lastly- a good, old-fashioned book of grammar:)
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
step back from your work. let it breathe and come back fresh. I have just gone through this while writing the book description- which as any author will agree– may be harder than writing the entire book. a fellow author told me I was too close to it, and couldn’t see it, that i needed to step back from it. I have heard this advice before, and have often inadvertently taken it, via distractions. Such as with this description i was wrestling with. I got sidetracked for a week. when I pulled up the blurb, I could see it much more objectively, with fresh eyes that picked up on nuances and aspects that I missed in my previous sessions.
What are you reading now?
Right now I am reading an independent work for a fellow author, to offer feedback, and i am reading a book of short stories by Roger Zelazny. I have a handful of books on my to-read list, as well.
What’s next for you as a writer?
As a writer, working on my next book, and developing the world of another series that I began. With The path of the Soul-worker (working title), I want to world-build. this title is more traditional fantasy being set in an alternate/ fantasy universe. And I want to develop what that world is. I also need to decide if i want to make it post-apocalyptic in nature, or straight-magic based… tiny decisions that affect the structure of a story. so, i thought if I began to build and map the world itself- the rest might begin to come to me;)
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
would the complete works of shakespeare count as 1 book?
how to build a boat with little or no tools, or how to live off-grid- which might-should include building techniques.. ie a homestead/ survivalists book. I’d like a place to sleep, to make something to wear, and to eat:)
something philosophical in nature, depending on how long I might be there, there are only so many times one can reread a few books- so something that allows me to think and ponder on ideas, about something:)
a very large blank, lined book with pens– so that i can continue to write… no-brainer!

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have love everything about the Middle Ages. Knights. Castles. Highlanders. I think I must have lived during this period in a previous life. In my spare time, I teach World History to 8th graders who are only interested in Facebook, but by the time I’m done with them, they have a new appreciation for Ancient History. I currently have 7 books out. My latest series, GODS OF THE HIGHLANDS includes a total of 4 books. The first two, CAMULUS and SIRONA are available now. Book 3, TANIS, will be available by the end of September, with Book 4, LUCAN available in October.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The latest book in the GODS OF THE HIGHLANDS series is Sirona. As a huge fan of Karen Marie Moning and Diana Gabaldon, I had always wanted to write about Highlanders. I also LOVE Sherrilyn Kenyon, so I thought it would be great to combine all the things I love about these authors’ works to create my own spin.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
As a teacher, I have to put in many hours both during the day as well as after school. Therefore, I get up at 4 am everyday to get in two hours of writing before I getting my family up and ready for the day. I protect those two hours with everything I have, ensuring that nothing comes between mem and my writing time. My husband built me a beautiful barn for my horse, and I have a writing studio there that is decorated like a Medieval castle. I’m inspired the moment I enter and have to force myself to leave most days.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
As I mentioned earlier, my favorite authors are Karen Marie Moning and Sherrilyn Kenyon. I also love Diana Galbadon’s Outlander series. New favorites are Mary Morgan and Cathy MacRae.
What are you working on now?
I have just finished Book 3 in the GODS OF THE HIGHLANDS series, TANIS. The 4th and final book, LUCAN is in the prewriting stage. I intend to move this series into the present day with these 4 couples guiding the newest generation of Celtic demi-gods. Think Dark Hunters meet Scottish Highlanders.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I get the most success from postings I do on Facebook. I have a limited presence there because there are just so many hours in a day, but I definitely notice an increase in sales with I post blurbs and teasers there. My Twitter account is linked to my Facebook page.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Focus on your writing. Learn everything you can about craft. You need to have books on the virtual shelf before you concern yourself too much with marketing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Pack your Romance Novel with emotion!
What are you reading now?
Mary Morgan’s DRAGON KNIGHT’S AXE.
What’s next for you as a writer?
When this series is done, I plan to finish a related series before moving my characters into the present day. My heart is still in the past.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
All of Karen Marie Moning’s Highlander books and Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter series.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The book is called Colby the 9/11 Parakeet. I wanted us to finally have some real good laughs about the September 11th, 2001 terror attacks. That was a sad day, for sure, but it’s time to move on. Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born a poor black child in the Tsunami-ravaged area of post-Katrina New Orleans, where I lived in an inner-city trailer home that spontaneously combusted due to terrorist activity. I was left homeless and on the streets, where I was forced to use my wits to survive. I currently work five dead-end jobs, struggling to make ends meet, while juggling the challenges of being a single mother.
I wrote 500 pages of my first novel on a napkin at a coffee shop in Edinburgh because my laptop would keep distracting me with cute videos of kittens on YouTube whenever I attempted to use it. Writing is especially difficult because I suffer from a debilitating form of carpel tunnel syndrome and an incurable form of arthritis, which combine into a super handicap which requires me to use robotic arms for daily tasks. All the kids make fun of my robotic arms, and I don’t think I will ever recover from the emotional scars of always being picked last in gym class.
And worst of all: I never learned to read!
I have written numerous books, which have all been based on dares, much like Scottish cuisine.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called Earthman Jack vs. The Secret Army. It was inspired by my desire to continue my Earthman Jack series and make money. (Mostly make money.)
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Does sitting in my underwear, binge watching Netflix on mute, while refusing to bathe count? Because that’s how I roll.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have many influences, but my favorite author is George R.R. Martin. I love how he takes half decades to release new books. I hope to be just like him when I grow up.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on the third Earthman Jack book and a few mysteries. I’m also working on a plan to take over the world, but I refuse to share any details of that on the off chance my enemies are reading this and may attempt to thwart my plans. (You know who you are!)
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’ve found pretending to be James Patterson works really well.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write what you know. Especially if you know how to murder people. That seems to be where the money’s at.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never get involved in a land war in Asia.
What are you reading now?
Text messages from all my lady friends.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Alcoholism and a life of abject poverty.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Probably books on how to get off a desert island, along with a book of navigational maps and McGuyver’s guide to Island living. Oh, and 50 Shades of Grey.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written a number of non-fiction books (under another name), and just started writing fiction. I have a background in math and science and used to be a professor in an engineering school. This has advantages for the detective stories that I write. While my prose isn’t as flowery as other authors, my plots are air tight based on the starting premises. I also put a lot of humor into my fiction. A number of reviewers of “Karma Dead Ahead” have said how funny they found it or that they had laughed out loud at various points.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is “Karma Dead Ahead”, which is the first book in the Private PSI Detective Mystery Series. I am not sure what exactly inspired it. The entire story popped into my head one day in June 2014 (not every little detail, but the characters and what they did and how the story began, proceeded and ended). It took five weeks to type. There was a lot of paranormal activity taking place in my home during this period. I had never written any fiction before and had no plans to do so at the time.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I always go through at least a period when I write all the time, not just during a scheduled amount of time per day. My first fiction book I wrote every free moment I had at any part of the day. I wanted to finish it as quickly as possible before I forgot the details of the story.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie.
What are you working on now?
In addition to two non-fiction books, I am two-thirds of the way through with the second book in the Private PSI Detective Mystery Series. The first book takes place on a Caribbean Island, but in the second installment, the two detectives, Sagacity Jeunesse and Chance Mankowski, go to Paris. Sagacity and Chance are graduate students who work in a university paranormal research lab under eccentric professor Wilkinson. Along with them, he appears in all the books, as does Sagacity’s outrageous mother, a group of psychics known as the Gang of Four and an Indian woman who is a tech entrepreneur and witchcraft practitioner. Sagacity, who is bold, beautiful and a good shot, is more of the Sherlock Holmes type. Chance, on the other hand, is a cautious, intellectual guy and is more of a Dr. Watson type.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Other than Awesomegang? Facebook is the most important social media site for authors. A large percent of the public uses it and there are probably well over 100 book related groups. After that, I would say it’s important to find sites that specialize in your genre.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t put barriers in your way. Anyone can publish a book today because of the Internet, eBooks, and Amazon. You don’t need anyone’s permission to publish, so either don’t ask for it or don’t accept rejection from publishers. Just finish your book (the biggest problem I’ve seen), get it properly edited and post it online. Then, realize you have to market it, otherwise no one is going to buy it no matter how good it is.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
When you build other people up, you rise with them; when you tear other people down, you go down with them. Many writers ignore this advice and guarantee they’ll never have many book sales.
What are you reading now?
I’m reading one of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum novels.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I am hoping to have the Private PSI Detective Mystery novels made into a TV series or one or more movies.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The books I would take to a desert island are 1. How to Build a Hut 2. How to Forage for Food 3. How to Get Clean Drinking Water and 4. How to Build a Seaworthy Boat.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I want to create books and comics about sex between real people. Quality is really important to me. It’s too easy to just produce smut. — Writing smut is easy, and can be fun, in its own way, but I’m really looking for something that will have an affect on readers after they get off.
I’ve written 14 short stories so far, and countless others as a ghostwriter. I’m also just starting up two comics along the lines of what I described above.
Feral Pussycat, Pounce! and Liber Vulva.
FPP! is more fun, loving, and funny, whereas LV is more serious, and deals with issues that a lot of romance novels don’t touch upon.
More information on my comics can be found at http://patreon.com/angelaturing
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is a really interesting read, and you can actually download it for free by submitting your email address on my website:
http://angelaturing.com/support
The story is a Paranormal Romance about a Werewolf, called “Dominated by the Werewolf”.
What I like most about the story, is I got to explore concepts of tantra, chivalry, and male dominance, while still touching on some of the ethical issues within human relationships.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to masturbate while writing sometimes. Usually, it’s just me and my mind. I will watch a scene play out and then write it as it happens. — It can be very exciting that way.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m a huge fan of Neil Gaiman, Phillip K Dick, Ursula Le Guin, and others like that.
What are you working on now?
I’ve just published 14 short stories, and now that they are in the promotional phase, I really want to dedicate some time to my comics. So, you should see more of that coming up. Being a creative type is always a juggling act.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Not sure. I’m doing everything I can. Awesome gang has been helpful so far.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write to the market, if you want to sell — but write something that you feel satisfied with. Otherwise, your art will be empty, and people won’t like it anyways.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Balance. Compassion.
What are you reading now?
Tarot History. Divination is really interesting to me right now. I also have been reading a lot of business books. The 4 hour workweek, The Art of Asking.
Also, just finished going through A Scanner Darkly, the audiobook — again.
So depressing, and so awesome at the same time.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to make a living from my art, and the best way to do that is to just keep making things I’m proud of — comics, short stories, etc.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind.
