Peter Ralph

Peter-4Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written five books, four business themed suspense novels and co-authored world poker champion, Joe Hachem’s biography. My novels are:

Collins Street Whores (Collins Street is Australia’s Wall Street)

The CEO

Dirty Fracking Business

Revenge Of The CEO

and

Pass the Sugar is Joe Hachem’s life story.

I currently have an exposé, Gasland Refugees, being edited by my publishers prior to publication

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Gasland Refugees is an exposé about the suffering of those unfortunate enough to find themselves living in unconventional gas fields around the world.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I wouldn’t say unusual. In my novels I take a set of business facts or happenings, change the names and locations, and embellish them to hopefully create an enjoyable story. I am opposed to the exploitation of unconventional gas and that bias is reflected in Dirty Fracking Business.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
John Grisham has influenced me more than any other author. He is a wonderful story teller and The Firm is one of the all-time great novels. Stephen King has an unbelievable imagination and is a fine writer. The plots in The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption were amazing. Andrew Rule is an Australian author who has a wonderful way with words. His latest book, The Boy From Nowhere, the true story of a poor boy who left school at 14 and who is now a multi-billionaire television and property mogul is a must read. Finally, I enjoy James Patterson, but I don’t have him in the same league as the other three.

What are you working on now?
I’m assisting with the edit of Gasland Refugees and also trying to write my first short story of about 20,000 words. The short story is proving far more difficult than I anticipated

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have a website www.peterralphbooks.com but lack the computer skills to use to its fullest. I’m competent on Facebook but I’ve never really mastered Twitter. When I do a promotion I usually spend a few hundred dollars on promotions.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Unless your Stephen King stick to something you know. John Grisham and the late Ian Fleming are good examples of sticking to their knitting.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Do not publish without a third party edit. I have written manuscripts and then edited and reread them to my eyes burned. At that stage I’ve been convinced that the work is grammatically flawless. The third party edits have always detected many errors. No matter how diligent you are, you can’t edit your own work.

What are you reading now?
The Narrow Road To The Deep North for which Australian author, Richard Flanagan, won the Man Booker Prize.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I am working on a short story about a financial scam set in San Francisco. After that I have the plot for another suspense/thriller novel about corruption and big business.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Firm

The Green Mile

The Boy From Nowhere

Den of Thieves

Michael Coombs

bk1-IMG_0266-use-for-radioTell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Before delving into your question I would like to say thanks for this great opportunity. That said, my name is Michael Coombs and I was born on the Island of Jamaica. I had a wonderful time as a child there. My Aunt, who I grew up with, had a small farm and I spent a lot of time in the trees, at the river or building carts that my friends and I could drive. Actually it was my friends who did most of the building. Of course like any kid on a farm I did chores like tying out the goats, feeding the chickens or helping to plant crops like lettuce or carrots. My aunt supplied some supermarkets in the city with produce. I never thought seriously of writing anything but if you think long and hard you can probably spot little telltale signs of the probability. It likely started when I was quite young – 6 maybe 7. At that time I use to tell stories. These stories where quite elaborate and would usually involve my ‘made up’ weekend with my dad. There were others. I remember one in which I was a swashbuckling pirate. I actually acted that one out. I stopped when I got to primary school. Making up stories was no longer cool or so I thought…no more stories. I am not sure I missed it because at around that time I started reading a lot of kiddy mystery novels – particularly the Hardy Boys. My dad turned me onto the series. I also got involved in the boy scouts and track & field. Maybe I am now coming full circle with this book writing. It certainly was enjoyable.

In answer to the second part of your question this is my first book. I hope there will be many more to follow. It would be nice if at some point I could actually write for a living.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
I have come a bit late to the writing game so this is my first outing as a writer. It was released several months ago and is titled Sight Unseen. The book loosely falls within the genre of romantic thriller and is about a high-end courier in search of a woman he has never met but just may love. The book was inspired by the love of my life – Jeannie. It’s as though I was placed on this earth to be with that lady. Funny thing, when I started writing She was not in my life. We are now engaged to be married.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
In the annals of unusual writing habits this is probably lame but here goes. I have a regular 9 to 5 and I am pretty beat up when I get home. As a result, I go right to bed and will wake up at around 2 or 3am to write for about an hour. At that time there is nothing stirring… not even the birds are awake. I feel as though it’s just me, the keyboard and that all powerful force. It’s a time when all seems possible.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
That’s a good question. I am sure that I have been influenced in some way by just about ever book that I have read; even the bad ones. It’s not a conscious thing but I don’t know that it can be helped. There are a number of books, however, that have left me thinking…Wow I wished I had written that – and these are not necessarily classics. I don’t think I am influenced to be like these authors but it does inspire me to be the best author…the best me I can possibly be.

What are you working on now?
Nothing currently but I have been jotting down ideas for a sequel. It likely will not be released until 2017. I type slowly. I took a typing test once and at my absolute fastest, we are talking with typos here, was only 30 words a minute. That’s like 1.5 on a scale of 1 to 10. In any case, the remainder of this year and quite possibly next will be dedicated to marketing the present book. I have no clue what the third one will be.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am not sure I am qualified to answer that question until I have several books under my belt. So far however, I have found that forums such as this are excellent venues for book promotion. I understand that blog tours are another great avenue. I type far too slowly for that though. For immediate sales I think live signings or talks where you have a dedicated audience is the best way to go.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advise for new authors would be to have faith in your ability and as that very wise man once said “…never, never, never give up.” Good things seem to happen when you least expect it to.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I have ever had was not advice at all. Rather it was a question from a little child as I explained why he could not cross the street by himself. His question was a simple “is that it?” I think it was the total incredulousness in the voice rather than the question itself that touched me. It really brought home for me the power of perspective.

What are you reading now?
Currently I am not reading a thing. Not because I don’t want to but because all my time seem to be taken up with work or the marketing of this book. The days of reading a new book ever month or two are gone for now. That said, I just finished reading a novel called ‘God Carlos’ by Anthony Winkler. My cousin, thanks Heather, turned me on to Mr. Winker a few years ago. She lent me one of his books called ‘Lunatic’. He is really quite good and just happens to be Jamaican.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Another excellent question. I plan to write a sequel to the present novel and have some thoughts on paper. I am really concentrating on marketing the present book, however, so will have little time to develop those thoughts for the next year or two. I had no idea that marketing the book would be some demanding. This is by no means a complaint just an observation. At some point in my career as an author I would love to get more youngsters involved in writing and the younger the better. They have such wonderful imaginations.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I hope that never happens but if it did I would want Cervantes ‘Don Quixote’ to be one of the books. I read it in high school and really want to read it again. I would also want Stieg Larson’s trilogy to be among them. Only 3 ehh? Guess my already over the limit. If this stranding does happen can we order up a laptop with limitless battery life or several realms of paper and a couple pencils?

Michelle Erickson

METell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I live with and near my family in a fun-sized community on the backside of nowhere and I like it like that.

I’ve written 19 books in six different genres, 18 of which are published, with plans to finish the House of Cards Quad this year.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
I released three books in 2014. My last one, Up in Flames, was the last of a five-part prequel to my epic fantasy, Chest of Souls. I wasn’t going to write it, as the character was the villain. I’m not into bad boys, but this book was needed to answer questions and create others.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know if it’s unusual to dream so many of my books, but I literally have ‘watched’ movies in my dreams that manifest into reality. Currently, have over thirty books in various stages of writing and what gets published next depends on what makes it to the finish line first. I seldom work on just one book or series. My brain likes to break away, so I write in at least two different genres at any given time.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
For non-fiction, I would say Leslie Householder’s The Jackrabbit Factor made the most impact.

What are you working on now?
House of Cards Book 1: The Last Alley. This book is the first I’ve co-authored with my daughter, though she gave plenty of input for many of my other books (my writing is a family affair). This series is the result of a combination of dreams of various members of the family.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
KDP for six of my (so far) 18 books. I’ve used ebook Booster, Kindle Nation Daily, and ‘free ebook’ blogs.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Marry the man you love
…oh, you meant writing advice? Make writing a daily habit and I do – six days a week.

What are you reading now?
Re-read Awaken by Rachel d’aigle – I give it 5 stars.
I re-read a lot books I’ve given 5-star reviews.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I keep writing and publishing. I’m thinking of doing a series of ten novellas that will be bookended by two novels and followed by a few novelettes.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would never get close enough to an ocean to ever have to consider it. Honestly, I would rather choose 50 or 60 of my favorite characters to be with – now THAT would really be fun:)

Holland Rae

423697_10150493979071442_209525743_n-2Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve currently published 6 short stories through Amazon, but if you ask my computer hard drive it’s a lot more! Writing has been a constant in my life since I was eight years old and enrolled in my mother’s creative writing class for kids, and I’m so unbelievably grateful for all the wonderful experiences it has given me.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My most recent short story is titled “Her Private Show”, the romantic tale of an uptight journalist forced to cover a story on a male strip show, and what comes of it. A dear friend and I attended a show of the like over the summer, and it was an absolute blast – I knew something had to come from it!

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’ve done enough National Novel Writing Months to have tried all the writing tricks – WrittenKitten.Com, Write or Die, ect. I tend to try and break my writing up – I’m a total sucker for To Do lists, so I’ll put it on in sections. If the goal for the day is 5,000 words I’ll put “write 2,500 words,” on there twice to make it feel like I’m doing more work than I actually am, since I get to cross it off my list more than once. It’s silly, but it helps.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Where to begin! I’m positively obsessed with Juliet Marillier – a wonderful fantasy novelist, and I’ll preach her books until my last dying breath. I was the pretentious kid in high school who read all the classics, so I’ve got Austen, Tolstoy, Wilde, Stoker, Shelley, ect. under my belt, and obviously I’m grateful for it now, as a more advanced writer. I’ve also recently gotten fairly obsessed with 17th Century French Court, which I blame Alexander Dumas for, since I covered his Musketeers this summer.

It’s really a case by case, I just love reading. And I’ll swear by Eloisa James as my all time regency romance novelist, and Linda Lael Miller for contemporary or classic American West.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently knee deep in my next short story “Going Pro”, with the goal to have it up by the end of January. I have the third story in my Motorcycle Series to look forward to, and then I might actually finish the story of Santiago and Isabel – the Island Duchess and the King’s Solider, but that’s going to be much longer and I keep putting it off.

Funnily enough, I’m the editor for an Automotive News department, so I’m always writing for them, and I’m currently working on a travel anthology as well. I love writing, and I tend to work on a lot of projects at once.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still fairly new to this game, and I’ve by no means perfected my self-promotion. I have a lot of experience with social media for other jobs, and I’ve been able to do a fair amount of free promotion through Twitter, Pinterest, and a budding Instagram. (@RaeRomance, Holland Rae and HollandRaeRomance, if you’re looking.) More than anything it takes time, patience, and regular updating.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing. By all that is holy do not stop writing. My first Amazon check was for $9.92, which didn’t even cover the cost of one cover image, (coming in at $10,) and that was after seven months of writing. It’s vital not to let that keep you down, and not to feel discouraged. It’s easy to let other things get in the way of your writing, but you’re in control of how much you write, and it’s so so so important to keep at it. Success with come.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Writers Write. It’s the simplest thing, really. But coming from a communications school, where everyone has a blog, and everyone has an article, and everyone reads poetry at Saturday Night Open Mic, it’s a vital thing to keep in mind. Writers do not talk about writing, something I’m guilty of myself, but they do it. Obviously we all have jobs and need to promote and so many other things to think about, but writers make the 15 minutes before bed, or type out an opening line on their phone. You may go home from your job as a teacher or a doctor, but you never, ever stop being a writer.

What are you reading now?
I’m going to be the bigger woman here and admit that I am currently in the midst of a Harry Potter Re-Read, and about to embark on the final epic. That being said, I just finished the book “Before Versailles,” the tale of King Louis XVI’s court at the Louvre when he was 22 and just beginning to get a grip on power. After I finished Deathly Hallows I’m onto the Outlander Series, which should keep me occupied for a while.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Like I said, I’m always writing. Cars are a huge part of my life, and I love writing articles and editorial on them as much as I enjoy writing my romance stories. I’m spending a lot of time focusing on my news department, as well as advancing to the next steps with my travel anthology. I really enjoy having a lot of projects, and I always look forward to starting the next story.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
No fair! Okay, the first few that come to mind: The Sevenwaters Series by Juliet Mariller. There’s actually two trilogies involved in this series, but I’d be content with the first one for a good long time, and probably Dracula, by Brahm Stoker, because I really have him to thank for so much, and because I need to split up classic Irish quests with some good old fashioned Gothic horror. Still calling no fair – I have too many books!

Michael Cody

mikeTell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
A lifetime reader, over the years I have read quite a few different genres. Everything from fantasy, sci-fi, thrillers and action adventure, to Stephen King, non-fiction, biographies, How-to’s, and a lot more! So far I have two non-fiction books on biking and the car-free lifestyle as well as the first book in my action/thriller series called “Where Power Resides”. The Bike books are “The Urban Bike” and “Urban Bike Stories”. The next book in the thriller series is due out in the next few weeks and is titled “Power Of Gods” I am also well into the third full length book in that series called “Power From Within” and a novella that will be a prequel to the series. Each book is for the most part a stand alone read, but of course reading them all will add much more depth and background to the stories and characters.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest is “Where Power Resides”. A political thriller, it explores the idea that perhaps power isn’t always where we think it is. A huge fan of Clancy, the Jack Reacher books and other spy/techno/conspiracy types of books, as well as living in Washington, D.C. now made it seem a natural choice!

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Maybe… I do most editing and revisions in my home office, but most of the creative writing is done all around DC. I commute to work for my day gig, so I allow extra time to pop into a coffee shot, one of the Smithsonian museums, or other places to write on my Ipad and a bluetooth keyboard.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Oh so many! I remember when Michael Crichton’s “Jurassic Park” was about to be released. I was fascinated by the science behind the story and bought the book when it was first released! Also a huge Tom Clancy fan just because of the depth. detail and realism in all of his writing. I also have enjoyed Dan Browns books. As far as writing, by far the biggest influence would be Stephen King’s “On Writing”. That book was HUGE for me from a writer’s perspective.

What are you working on now?
I am currently doing final revisions on the next book in the “Power” series, Power of Gods. I am also working on the novella for that series and writing the third book, “Power From Within”.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I must admit I am still experimenting in that area. Building a Twitter following, Facebook fan page and soon to have a real authors website.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Hang in there! write a good book! Don’t skip the essential things that separate the pro’s from the Joe’s. Have your book edited. Hire a real cover designer and tell a great story.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Amateurs sit and wait for inspiration, the rest of us just get up and go to work.” Stephen King

What are you reading now?
I tend to read quite a bit on indie publishing. Lately I’ve read Nick Stephens “Reader Magnets” and Supercharge your Kindle Sales”. Also David Gaughran’s “Let’s get Visible” and “Let’s Get Digital” books. For enjoyment I am constantly seeking out new writers I might enjoy. The last few i’ve read are “Buddha In Blue Jeans” by Tai Sheridan, “Personal” by Lee Child, several of Russell Blake’s “Fet” series of books and a few of Bob Mayer’s books.

What’s next for you as a writer?
finish my “Power” series of books. possibly an addition to my Urban Bike series called “Urban Foodie” and then who knows! Probably a brand new series!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Twenty thousand leagues under the sea, The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy books, The Right Stuff, and maybe some Dan Brown and/or Michael Crichton.

Kelly St Clare

IMG_2697_chosenedited_lowresTell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
This is my debut book! I have been studying writing in Australia for a couple of years now. I am originally from New Zealand, but find myself in the Shetland Islands, Scotland, of all places at the moment. Don’t think I’ve ever been so excited as when I published Fantasy of Frost. It has certainly been a learning experience.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Fantasy of Frost (The Tainted Accords; Book One). I woke up from an awesome dream and this is the result. A coming of age fantasy fiction.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I laugh out loud. I like to think it’s at my characters jokes, but really they’re my own. It’s a bit sad.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
So many. JK Rowling (of course), John Marsden, Scarlett Dawn just to name a few.

What are you working on now?
Book Two of The Tainted Accords, due for release June 2015.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use facebook a lot, just because its a tool I understand. I am also on google+, goodreads and as many book promotion sites as I can find (awesomegangs included). There is my website as well www.kellystclare.com where there is an option to sign up to my newsletter…..I think that’s everything.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
I’m a newbie myself BUT the main thing I found helpful was to just get the first draft down. Don’t’ worry if it makes sense, if the facts add up or the writing is good. That is for later drafts. Just do it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Keep writing

What are you reading now?
I am reading…..wait while I check…Dreamfever by Karen Moning. It’s the fourth in its series. I’m addicted.

What’s next for you as a writer?
2015 is going to be an exciting year, I’ve decided. I want to bring out 2 more books in my Tainted Accords series. There is also another story pestering me at the moment, so I will be starting this later in the year. EXCITE!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
….am I allowed to take my kindle and a charger instead? Uhm….I would take the last Harry Potter, Pride and prejudice, King Cave by Scarlett Dawn and my own, Fantasy of Frost.

Kelly Wyre

Kelly-Wyre-Fire-IconTell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Well, I’m Kelly Wyre (rhymes with “beer”), and I like to tell stories. I’ve written all kinds of things from horror to romance and sometimes a combination of the two. So far I’ve written five novels, an assortment of short stories and novellas, and have no plans to stop any time soon.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is MEET ME AT THE GATES. It’s a contemporary supernatural romance.

The idea actually came to me via a book journey, so to speak. I bought one book and there was a bookmark in it for another book. So I bought the second one, too, and that one turned out to be a graphic novel that was loosely based on a Japanese folk tale about a fox, a badger, a monk, and a raven. The graphic novel got me to thinking about what it’d be like to remember your lover across every lifetime you’d ever lived, and thus the plot of the book was born.

Initially, MEET ME AT THE GATES was called, “Fox and Monk.” The characters are named after the original inspiration, and the book also features a “badger” and a “raven.”

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Everybody’s “unusual” is relative. I cannot write with noise, so I don’t listen to music or anything when I’m working. I often feel the urge to “chew” on something while working, so I like gum, hard candy, mints, and chewy fruit snacks (not gummy; more dried fruit than anything). I talk to myself, I use a ton of post it notes, and when I’m done with a first draft, I often print the whole thing out and read it the old fashioned way. I edit with a red ink pen.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Oh goodness, tons. Neil Gaiman, Clive Barker, Anne Rice, Stephen King, Christopher Rice, Pat Conroy, Craig Johnson, and dozens of others. I read and watch anything and everything because I love new ways to tell stories.

What are you working on now?
Oh, a few things. I’m what we’re going to call an over-achieving multi-tasker.

I’m working on a horror-fantasy novel under a different pen name. I’ve got another book in my New Amsterdam series outlined and ready to go. I’ve got a male/male romance called UNDER THE SUN, which I really want to work on. I’ve got a paranormal book about a bunch of kids who think it’s a good idea to raise a forest god. And most recently, an author and friend of mine, AF Henley, and I discussed a new supernatural series we’d like to tackle.

So yeah, I keep busy.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Anything and everywhere, basically. If an opportunity comes along to promote yourself? Take it.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Several things, actually:

1. Write what you love. Forget about writing what you know. If you don’t know, that’s what research is for.

2. Write for the love of the words. Don’t write for money, fame, to prove something, because you said you would, or for any other reason. Write for your own love of the craft, and for heaven’s sake, do it for yourself and never, ever for anyone else. Therein lies the roads to madness, depression, and anxiety.

3. Respect the craft: learn about grammar and remember the rules. Always be willing to level-up your writing game. Writing is like having sex: you never completely perfect your craft, and about the time you think you’ve got it, you have to change dancing partners.

4. It’s okay to be afraid of your stories or your characters. Being afraid means you respect them and want to get the story right. Be afraid, be concerned, but never let those fears rule you. Remember that the stories and the characters chose YOU for a reason; they thought you could do it. They believe in you. Don’t let them down.

5. Just write. Even if you think it sucks, even if you’re tired, even if you can’t remember why you ever wanted to put words on paper in the first place – just write. The only blocks out there are the ones you give yourself. Destroy them with prejudice and JUST WRITE.

What are you reading now?

I’m reading a book on Shamanism, a Beautiful Creatures novel, a book on the Alexandrian Technique, a Stephen King collection, and probably one or two more that I’m forgetting. Again, shameless multi-tasker.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Keep writing. *laughs* I’ve got lots of books to do in 2015. Also, my book FIGHT that came out in 2014 will soon be out in print, so I have plans on promoting it.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Dark Tower by Stephen King, War and Peace, and How To Build a Raft & Escape A Desert Island Every Time for Dummies.

DSCN0609Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have four books but three of them didn’t make it. Well, one has downsized itself to an article. Also a book of poetry on Amazon called “Bliss Pigs” with Linda Stitt

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book and the one that made it is called The Stain. It is inspired by the treacherous nature of material existence and its repetitious nature; it promotes itself as a “Book about Karma, Reincarnation and the Release from Suffering,” but is really just a good story about three women, separated by centuries bound by a single horrifying event. Each replays parts of that event until one of them releases herself. Can she release them all?

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have almost no habits about writing. I write a great deal it seems from the filled note books in my room. When I write not much else enters or leaves my mental space.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have been influenced by James Joyce, Dostoevsky, Jane Austin, Neitszche, Carl Jung,

What are you working on now?
I’m working on a memoir called My Impossible Life. Because it has been, you know…impossible. As it were.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I really found ebooksGOT (Grow on Trees) to be the best

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing and learn your abc’s. Study the craft, spelling, grammar, punctuation. Learn to create parallel sentences.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
It is no sign of good mental health to be well adjusted to a sick society.

What are you reading now?
Plus Ones, and Red Alchemy by Robert Bosnak

What’s next for you as a writer?
Lots more writing

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I’d bring the ones in my head, including the poems I know by heart. I’d bring Dr. Seuss, “O the Places You’ll Go”. I’d bring Cloud Atlas.

IMG_2616Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Before writing The Village Green I had never written more than a letter, contenting myself with drawing and painting. But my main character, Kelsey, came to me in what I can only call a vision and I had to tell her tale. After many hours in coffee shops and libraries writing and rewriting, the book was finally finished, that is until the edits began.

When I’m not writing you can find reading, teaching my four children, or visiting some new place. My family and I are traveling across the country full-time and learning to get along with six people in a 35ft trailer.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My first, and only book, The Village Green, was published in October 2014. I was inspired to write the story by current events in which special interest groups use political power to control people’s lives.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know that they are unusual, but I have to write in near total silence, something I never get with my children around, so I always have something with me to write on or with. I might be writing a short story in the laundromat, or a novel in the library, or anywhere I can be alone.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451, 1984, Animal Farm, That Hideous Strength

What are you working on now?
I am writing the prequel to The Village Green.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am very new to self-promotion, and it doesn’t come easy. The method I’ve most used so far is book reviews by popular book bloggers.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t expect anything in particular. I read over and over again how it could take years to get published, and I believe that might very well be true, but I was lucky enough to be published only a month after submitting my book. Now it wasn’t the first, second, or even third try, but it did happen. You just never know who will like your book. So don’t get discouraged.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Just submit it already!” quoth my husband.

What are you reading now?
M.C. Beaton, the Agatha Raisin Mystery Series.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Continuing to write.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, Brave New World, The Great Divorce

image1Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
As a writer I have always written stories. There is no end to how many. As for published. Well only one.

I’ve loved to write for as long as I could remember, going as far back as 4th grade, where as everyone else was doing math, I was coming up with stories instead (I got in trouble a lot for that).

I recently decided to go back to college and recieve my BA in Creative Writing. I’m also working on my CNA certificate, to work in nursing homes and hospitals.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest piece is A Drug Called Love. And I don’t really know what inspired it. I’ve just always had the idea floating around in my head and I finally put it to paper. Christophe And Angelic are by far my favorite characters.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I love to listen to music and daydream about my characters before I put them down on paper. If I don’t like the fantasy world I’ve created I’ll delete it from my mind and start all over again. It’s hard work but I usually find other characters best suited for the universes I created.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I can’t really say what authors have inspired me, I read mainly Fanfiction and that list would be extremely long. But I do mosey down to the Barnes and Noble once a month to read a few book on the shelves. I love to dive into another authors mind to see how they think and if it is any different than my own.

What are you working on now?
My next book is untitled but is about a forbidden relationship between manager and employee. A love story filled with drinking, drama, and a crazy Babymomma!

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My best method is never giving up. I mostly use my facebook fanpageh at is linked to my Twitter account. It doesnt help much but I’m honestly not in the writing business for the money, I’m just in it to hope that my story can relate to you someway somehow.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
NEVER stop writing. NEVER stop reading. NEVER give up!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Someone who helped me through a rough patch always said: “If you’re worried about that one person who won’t like your book how will you know who will. So publish it. Even if one person doesn’t like it there are probably ten more who do!”

What are you reading now?
Currently nothing but lots of Brittana fanfiction, because I love glee. And my own works, brushing off some dust on some old ones and polishing up some new ones.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Finding a name for my untitled story and publishing that. Going to school to become a better writer and publishing more books, hoping people will love them as much as Kayne loves Kayne!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Program(great book finished it in an hour, then bought the ebook and read it again, twice), Looking For Alaska, and those are really the only two where I really got sucked into the storyline right from the beginning, I can read them over and over again.

profileTell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Destiny’s Hand is inspired by soul crushing life experience and fantasies of world domination. It is my debut novel and was a very delicate and complex book for me to write. Someone less stubborn would have picked a simpler story for their first published book, but I am a mental masochist.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Destiny’s Hand: Book One of Destiny’s Exodus

Ship Of Destiny is the name of the generation spaceship the story takes place on, and Destiny’s AI is one of the point-of-view characters.

Hand is because there are five main point of views, and Destiny’s AI is the “god” of the book. So five fingers, five POVs, and hand of god.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Iain M. Banks and his culture series

I love how he has managed to tell stories in an environment that is so technologically advanced.

Brandon Sanderson

I don’t read much fantasy anymore, but I make an exception for Sanderson because of his “Hard Fantasy” style. Limitations are everything.

Jack Campbell

His Lost Fleet series educated me on how light speed would effect in-system fleet battles between spaceships, particularly with regard to intel and positioning as the fights progressed.

What are you working on now?
Advocate’s Promise, sequel to Destiny’s Hand. I’m also writing a companion series that starts with Seeker of Truth. Both will be finished and published this year.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I think being active in social media in general is a requirement as is having a personal blog that has posts about writing and introduces readers to the author.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Try to write in the morning if you can. About two hours after I wake up from a good night’s sleep is my best time for writing, but also the hardest time to have free.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t waste life waiting for things to be perfect.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

Boatbuilding Manual, Fifth Edition

Stargazing For Dummies

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi, I am a recent self-published author with a deep fondness for romantic ideas and a voracious appetite for reading books written by the likes of Sophie Kinsella and Cecilia Ahern. To-date, I have published two novels – ‘Twin Mystification’ and ‘The Matching Love Game : Blind Dates.’ During my childhood days, my interests span across novels written by Francine Pascal and collections from the ‘Sweet Dreams’ series and they simply fascinated me because the ideology of ‘puppy love’ was distinctly felt when I read those novels. It’s a great pleasure for me to write new adult books related to such genres in direct, layman language and yet depict the characters in my story with more sophisticated words. My aim is to retain the idealism of ‘romance’ without compromising on the realistic aspects that life deals one with.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest release is -‘The Matching Love Gaame : Blind Dates.’ It’s a story revolving around Phoebe Spiros – an undergrad of Greek origin and there’s some comic scenes in there, which I decided to write on, because I relived certain past memories of blind dates that I had met in my younger days. The thought just sprang in my mind and I was thinking “Why not? Surely, it would be pretty hilarious to laugh over the prospect of meeting blind dates that did not meet one’s expectations and yet provided the other party with amusing anecdotes.” After all, it meant that the blind date, in particular, did leave a lasting impression of some sort. Hence, that inspired me to write the comic scenes to amuse my readers and entertain them with a good, relaxing read!

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Hmm, I doubt I would call them unusual. I normally like to write sad, romantic stories or those with happy endings but without sounding too clichéd. I think in every novel, it’s good to write in a simple, understandable manner without confusing the readers with overly complicated nuances and language variances. Of course, one would need to include some twists and turns to capture the readers’ interests and make them want to read more of your stories.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have been greatly influenced by the humor found within Sophie Kinsella’s collection of novels and the idealist notions of romance inherent in the ‘Sweet Dreams’ series. They have inspired me to combine the romantic notions with a pinch of real life experiences to cater to today’s generation.

What are you working on now?
Presently, I am working on the next book related to ‘The Matching Love Game : Blind Dates’ – Vol 2.

I am also working on other non-fiction genres as I have great interest in relationship stuff and the likes.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Hmm. I believe that’s something I still need to work on, as I don’t have a website as yet to promote my ebooks. And I think it would be good to build one after I’ve completed more ebooks.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up on your ideals! Just keep on working at it, even if you don’t see your sales skyrocketing! It’s a matter of conviction and passion for your work that will keep you going! That’s how I usually encourage myself too.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Oops. I can’t recall any right now.

What are you reading now?
Well, presently I am reading up on Kindle Publishing books and dating tips for more ideas.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Do more research and come up with better ideas for a good novel. Polish up my marketing skills.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
