When I first started out, I was overwhelmed by all the platforms, hashtags, and advice out there. But here’s what I’ve learned: you don’t need to do it all. You just need to start somewhere, and do it authentically. If you’re ready to dip your toes into social media (or finally get consistent with it!), here are a few simple steps to get you going:

• Pick One Platform: Don’t try to master them all at once. Choose the platform where your ideal readers hang out most—maybe that’s Instagram for romance, Facebook for thrillers, or X for non-fiction.
• Share Your Journey: Readers love behind-the-scenes peeks. Post about your writing process, research, or even the days when the words just won’t come. Authenticity always wins.
• Engage, Don’t Just Broadcast: Social media is a two-way street. Respond to comments, ask your audience questions, and join bookish conversations. The more you interact, the more visible you become.
• Use Visuals: Eye-catching images or short videos grab attention. Even a simple photo of your writing space or your current read can spark interest.
• Be Consistent (Not Perfect): You don’t need to post daily, but try to show up regularly. Consistency builds trust—and trust builds readers.
