W G Walters

Interview With Author W G Walters

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written three books. Two are science fiction, and the other is poetry. As a kid, I always had my dad take me outside to look at the stars. I discovered writing not long after, and the two merged.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Masks came from a script I wrote on the fly when I was in high school. It developed into a lot more over time. Last year, I looked at how rich the backstory is and decided to write a short story of the beginning. When it became too long for a short, I kept going and wrote this book.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I always keep a statue of Thoth, Egyptian god of writing, time, and change, next to wherever I’m working.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Seamus Heaney, H.P. Lovecraft, The Wheel of Time series, and Carl Sagan’s Contact.

What are you working on now?
Promotion, promotion, promotion, finish the next book, promotion.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Whenever I talk with someone who’s gotten lost in their own story, I always ask what their ending is, and they always tell me they don’t have one. Having an ending before you start writing is more valuable than anything because it gives your story direction and keeps it on track. And once you start writing, changing your ending is worse than not having an ending.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t use complicated sentence structure. It confuses the reader. Anything with a semicolon can be made better

What are you reading now?
Telempath by Spider Robinson

What’s next for you as a writer?
Continuing the series and finishing a major poetry project

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Why books? Why not series? The Wheel of Time, Revelation Ark, Sherlock Holmes, and The Rose of the Prophet

Medini Pradhan

Interview With Author Medini Pradhan

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an aspiring writer, now a published author based in California. I just published my very first children’s rhyming book, called Nana’s Call. I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager and love writing historically relevant food essays. My essay on my grandmother – Of Spices and Spice Mistresses” was published in a local magazine. Besides writing essays and children’s books I am working on my cookbooks.

Years ago, I created CuisineCuisine.com, a website dedicated to Indian Cuisine and Culture Made Easy. I have taught Indian cooking classes for many years. Making newcomers comfortable with cooking complicated Indian recipes is a natural talent of mine. I have appeared in the New York Times Food section as well as The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel for my Indian recipes.

Besides writing, I love cooking and developing digital content. As a former real estate agent, I create digital content for realtors. I am working on a book for a new realtor.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Nana’s Call : Every Day At 5 o’clock is my latest book. The idea for the book came when my grandson and I were singing songs on our daily video calls. I was so fascinated by our connection and how much love there is between us, that I decided to capture our moments with my words and pictures.

I love rhyming and once I got started, the rhymes just flowed. I am a modern working grandma who loves her grandson very much. I fulfilled my dream of writing a book and now I want to share it with you. If you are looking for a sweet rhyming story of a modern working grandma who loves her grandson, then look no further. By writing this book I hope to make you smile and remember the moments you spend with your loved ones on your video calls.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Ha ha, yes, I get inspired when I listen to nostalgic music or am eating something that reminds me of a certain time. So I have my notes app open and start dictating. Not sure it that is unusual but that’s me 🙂

What authors, or books have influenced you?
All the books by Ayn Rand greatly impacted me in a positive way. I love self-help books and biographies. Kahlil Gibran books make me happy.

What are you working on now?
I am working on my cookbooks and my second children’s book.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Social media and of course sites like Awesome Gang! There are so many resources out there and it’s important to choose wisely.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write every day! Read lots!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Take it one step at a time! Sometimes I get overwhelmed with all the writing projects on hand and think that it might just be impossible to complete. Breaking it down by tasks makes it much more doable.

What are you reading now?
Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die by Chip Heath and Dan Heath

What’s next for you as a writer?
Continue to hone my writing skills. Definitely reading unique books to explore and learn unique writing styles.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, any of the Colleen Hover novels, any Tony Robbins books to keep me going and definitely and the works of Kalhil Gibran.

Carrie Scharf

Interview With Author Carrie Scharf

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Carrie and I’m originally from California but live in West Virginia. I’m a homeschool and special needs mom who makes skincare and loves to play the clarinet. I have 3 books on skincare. One I call Carrie’s Skincare Cookbook, for beginners who want to make their own personalized skincare, one called The Cozy Bath, and one on herbal infused skincare.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Herbal Infused skincare: How to use herbs and flowers for glowing skin. I was having fun creating powdered facial cleansers for myself and mascara for a friend and thought I’d put all the recipes together in a book.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Hmmm… I don’t think so? I usually write in the middle of the day whenever I can get a chance while the kids are busy.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love Jane Austen and other classics. I enjoy reading Gabriel García Márquez especially
Love in the Time of Cholera. I’m also a big fan of sci- fi and fantasy.

What are you working on now?
Currently, I’m writing about making and using botanical extracts such as decoctions, infusions, and tinctures.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Recently it has been twitter.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
If you don’t know a published author, find reputable ones on YouTube. I have learned a lot from listening to people’s experiences in their YouTube videos.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I think Nikki Banas says it wonderfully in Walk the Earth:
Be you
You don’t need to prove yourself to anyone. You don’t need to spend your energy trying to earn other’s acceptance or waste your time trying to explain yourself. You don’t need to justify your ideas to others who won’t understand.. My beautiful friend, just be you. Spend your time doing your thing. Spend your energy learning and growing. Pour yourself into your ideas and dreams and let go of what others are saying… Because in the end, it just doesn’t matter what they think- it only matters what you think.

What are you reading now?
I often read many books at once, depending on my mood. Currently, I’m reading The Time Of My Life by Cecelia Ahern, Mind, Body and Soul Part 1: Mind Over Matter by J.A. Molvanie, and The Comfort Book by Matt Haig.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m currently working on online skincare making courses. You’ll be able to find more info on my blog when they are live.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, and the Complete Works of Shakespeare.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Traci Zoschke. I graduated from Calvary University in Kansas City, MO with a degree in Biblical Counseling. I have been married to her husband, Andrew, for thirteen years and have proudly held the role of Pastor’s Wife for the past decade. We currently live in Southwest Kansas where I am a full-time homeschooling mama to our four beautiful children.

I originally started writing for therapeutic reasons, and it has now become an enjoyable hobby! I currently have two books published and two more in the works. My goal in writing is to bring the knowledge of Christ to my readers and to encourage believers in their daily walk with Him.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“When Worlds Collide: An Unexpected Love Story” is my latest published book. I was inspired to write it because I wanted a love story that also showed the close relationship that could be had between a father and daughter.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Probably. 😀 I tend to work through several chapters in my head, which usually take weeks to put on paper. After that I often take a break for several weeks to process exactly how I want the story to go next.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I LOVE the classics. Jane Austen and the Bronte Sisters have had an enormous influence on my writing style. Even Leo Tolstoy as of late.

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on a four-part novel, “Wounded Faith: A Heart-Wrenching Story of Trial, Hope & Love.”

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I try to use as many non-exclusive publishers as I can when I launch, and I promote on as many platforms as I can. I also update my business pages several times a week.

What are you reading now?
I am currently (June 2022) reading “Anna Karenina” by Leo Tolstoy.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Next on my agenda is creating a Discussion Guide for “Turbulent Hope”

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Hard decision! Probably Pride & Prejudice (Austen), The Tenant of Wildfell Hall (Bronte), Middlemarch (Eliot) and Around the World in Eighty Days (Verne).

Honestly though, I’d probably die if I couldn’t bring more than ten!

Charles Lehman

Interview With Author Charles Lehman

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m 57, happily married, and from New Jersey. In 2010 after watching a popular ghost hunting show on TV, I wanted to try it for myself. I always believed in ghosts and spirits, but I was always curious about how true the TV shows were. After a few months of research, I got myself an audio recorder, digital camera and K2 EMF meter and headed to my local cemetery. After I returned from my first trip, I had 6 EVP (spirit voices) on my audio recorder, voices I never heard when I was there because I was alone. There was not another soul anywhere near the place.

So after a couple of repeat trips and my car alarm going off, I was hooked and knew I would be doing this as long as I physically could get out to investigate.

My book is my first and I went the self-publishing route to get it out there.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My first book is called “Dancing with the Divine and the Darkness: How a Paranormal Curiosity Opened the Gates to a Supernatural Universe”

When I first started investigating in 2010, I joked to myself after 10 years I would have enough material to write a book about my experiences. In 2018, a good friend Christine, also a very gifted medium, told me during a reading that I needed to write a book. Not just about my paranormal experiences, but also about everything that happened to me because of my adventures. Christine told me that I had a lot of stories I never shared with anybody (which was true) and that I had to tell them. She said there were people out there who had similar experiences, but were afraid to talk about them out of fear of being laughed at and ridiculed.

By writing the book, I would be letting them know they were not alone and that there are people out there they could talk to without fear of being scorned. Plus she said a lot of people, in general, would be fascinated by what I experienced. So I started writing the book in 2018 and finally finished in 2022. I learned a lot during those years of writing and rewriting.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I can’t say for sure, though after my first rough draft, I found that I used the word “Really” about 500 times. I learned I had to get rid of repetition such as this. I’d also say that I did not write every day and sometimes I would go a week or two without getting on the keyboard.

In the end, I then found myself reading and rereading, and nitpicking a lot of things too. Again it was all part of the learning process for my first book.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I wouldn’t say I wrote my book with any influence from any author in particular. However, one of my favorite authors is David McCullough, a writer of historical books such as “1776”, “John Adams” and “The Johnstown Flood”, which were among my favorites.

I do enjoy non-fictional historical books very much.

What are you working on now?
I’m taking a break for the moment from writing, other than updating my website/blog about my paranormal adventures.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I promote my books off my website, www.chucksghosts.com, which is primarily devoted to my paranormal investigations going back to 2010. I started promoting on the typical social media sites and I am now expanding to promotional sites such as Awesome Gang and others.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
I would say my best piece of advice would be not to have pie-in-the-sky expectations for a new book to sell 1000 copies right off the bat and become a best seller. Especially if you are self-publishing. The marketing of the book is a big deal. Do as much research into that as writing the book itself. That is something I wish I spent more time on, so now I am still piecemealing it together.

Also, the website Fiverr was key in getting my book cover (front and back) design done and it saved me a lot of money. If you have the money to spend to get an illustrator do your cover, go for it. But if you are on a budget like I was, Fiverr was a Godsend.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I got was not directed at me, but found in the many comments sections about the writing and marketing of books. As a self-publisher, you want to sell books, but you don’t want to go broke doing it. Read the comments, you learn a lot of pitfalls that way. Don’t rush to sign up for something, get the reviews and read them before you throw away good money that could have been better spent elsewhere.

What are you reading now?
Nothing on the shelf at the moment, its whatever catches my eye next. Hence why an eye-catching book cover is so important!

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m thinking about writing about my paranormal investigation but from the perspective of the solo investigator, which is how I normally investigate. Solo investigating is kind of frowned upon because of potential dangers, but I look at it like anything else in life. It’s not for everyone, just like ghost hunting, in general, is not for everyone.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I’d bring books that had to deal with wilderness survival and how to get rescued. I would read those, day and night.

Pat Fonda

Interview With Author Pat Fonda

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi, I’m Pat Fonda. Reading and writing have been two of my favorite pastimes since I was a teenager. After my first child was born I used the internet a lot to learn abut parenting, family, relationships and child development.

Then I got attracted to becoming an indie author to share my experiences and insights in these topics with other parents.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Gaming Addiction In Children: Boost Your Kid’s Self-Control, Avoid The Mistakes Parents Make & Turn Video Game Play Into A Positive Experience For The Whole Family

I was inspired to write this book because of a need to find answers myself to the problem of gaming addiction in children. This is a problem nearly every family with children has to grapple with at some point, given the abundance of gaming equipment, tablets, and smartphones.

Most parents are clueless on how to help their kids from getting addicted to video gaming, plus research indicates that gaming produces in the gamers brain a high that is very similar to that produced by drugs like the amphetamines.

I thought it would be a good idea to share what ii had learned with other parents.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t think I have any unusual writing habits, except perhaps that I’m not so disciplined as to stick to a daily writing schedule consistently.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Growing up I only read fiction, but in adulthood I have settled for writing non-fiction. Some of the fiction authors who impressed me include, Alistair MacLean (British), Harold Robbins, Danielle Steele.

What are you working on now?
Following the publication of Gaming addiction in Children I’ve started work on a book on how to develop emotional intelligence in kids. Today we live in the Information age, and there’s a lot we can do as parents that parents in past generations couldn’t.

We also face tougher challenges as parents today.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use press releases, partly because I like writing them. I’m still new at book promotion. I will be researching other methods soon.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
I remember someone saying that to become a good writer you should aim to have 100,000 words under your belt – in other words you have to write and write and write.

My advice is to not focus on the rewards at first, but the process. When you get good at the craft, and you’re delivering quality content, the rewards will come. Also, having written a good book, you should spend a good amount of time on the marketing.

Find a marketing method that works for you and invest 80% of your marketing time on that method alone.

Shemar James

Interview With Author Shemar James

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
From a very young age, creative writing has always been something that I have done in my free time. Writing was a way to explore my imagination and create fantastical worlds, develop fun characters, and craft interesting plots. In elementary school, I recall journaling numerous pages of funny short stories where my classmates would gather around in anticipation and enjoy the comedic and action-packed adventures my characters would venture on.Being inspired by the television I watched and the video games I played, I wrote and illustrated many stories both on my own and some with other friends. A close friend I rode the school bus with would wait impatiently for me to add more to my story journal so that she could pick up where she left off in the story and enjoy reading with the few minutes she had. I also remember my older cousin that would come over and read my very early drafts of my published book, The Adventures of Zorax Zoomster and shared with me that “I wouldn’t be reading your stories if I didn’t think they were interesting.” From these moments of my childhood, I knew that I had something special to share.

Several years later, I published my first novel in 2012 called, The Adventures of Zorax Zoomster, categorized as science fiction. This suspenseful fantasy story tells the adventure of a teenage alien crew who journey to the vast galaxy to find a way to save their own civilization from a powerful evil ruler. This was the first official publication that I released in high school at just sixteen years old. Although daunting, my ambition to share my creativity with the world far outweighed my fears of doing so.

Afterwards, I also recently published a comic books series, entitled Modern Monarchy: The Caveman King, a fantasy, adventure tale of a princess and her friends of the prehistoric world left to ward off the outside enemies that threaten to overthrow their kingdom while learning to form an uneasy alliance with the modern people of their day. This required focus, commitment, and a lot of patience. My most recent publication is my poetry and short story collection, I.N.S.P.I.R.E.D: A Decade of Imagination & Reflection where I share more personal pieces of my life from my years in junior high through my time in university and also includes poetry from my parents as well.

The Adventures of Zorax Zoomster (Sci-fi novel)
Modern Monarchy Vo1. The Caveman King (Comic Book Series)
Modem Monarchy Vol. 2 Kingdom Invasion (Comic Book Series)
Modern Monarchy Vol. 3 Fate of the Kingdom (Comic Book Series)
Modern Monarchy Vol. 1-3 Kingdom Collection (Comic Book Series)
I.N.S.P.I.R.E.D. A Decade Of Imagination & Reflection (Poetry and Short Story Collection)

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My most recent book is I.N.S.P.I.R.E.D. A Decade Of Imagination & Reflection: Poetry and Short Story Collection. I.N.S.P.I.R.E.D. showcases and explores ten years of my life between 2010-2020 through the focused lens of poetry and short stories. The title of this collection, of course, has a dual meaning. I not only felt inspired to share these pieces but also the acronym within I.N.S.P.I.R.E.D. that birthed this project. This special decade of reflection is examined through my own creative tools of introspection, narrative, symbolism, perspective, imagination, reflection, entertainment, and documentation. I was always thrilled to share my life experiences and creativity through poetry that included many things like fictional tales, cultural identity, spiritual reflection, social justice, the essence of community, and other significant elements.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really, but I do have very specific habits that I do. I usually need to listen to music on a low volume to create a certain atmosphere of energy. I also like lighting candles as they are very calming. It also doesn’t hurt to maybe eat my favorite candy or drink a nice beverage while I’m generating ideas. I tend to do my best writing late at night or early in the morning.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
Hope and other dangerous pursuits by Laila Lalami

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on an animal adventure story for kids that explores themes of friendship, activism, environmentalism, and prejudice. I am also working on continuing the series of my sci-fi novel, The Adventures of Zorax Zoomster.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I think social media and article publications have been the best way to gain traffic towards my books so far.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never stop writing and always stay inspired. Writing is a journey and it requires a lot of focus and discipline. It’s easy to want to give up or throw in the towel but the thing about being a writer is no matter how much you may want to quit, there’s still that pestering fire inside of you that won’t allow you to do it. Listen to that fire. It’s there for a reason. If you do feel unmotivated sometimes, that’s okay. Take a break, and enjoy some of your favorite stories by other authors or directors and regain your inspiration that way.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you hear the word no, it just means “Not yet” and its closer to a yes.

What are you reading now?
At the moment, I have mostly been attending webinars on how to become a better screenwriter, but I hope to dive into reading more fantasy and sci-fi books again very soon.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to continue to publish as many books as possible in the fantasy, science fiction, and action/adventure realm and hopefully branch off later into other genres as well. I also want to continue to dabble into the craft of screenwriting more.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Bandwidth Recovery by Cia Verschelden
My Grandmother’s Hands by Resman Menakem
Total Leadership Stewart D. Friedman

Wilsdaryon Prescher

Interview With Author Wilsdaryon Prescher

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am 29 years old and I currently live in Houston, Tx. I love reading, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. I am currently working on my master’s in social work. With the hopes of having my own therapy practice for foster children and troubled youth. I have only written one book so far but I hope to write more.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Since I was in the 3rd grade I knew I wanted to be a writer. I grew up in the foster system and one of my many escapes was reading books. I loved how the author was able to transport me into this imaginary land that made me forget how bad life was at the time. I knew it was something I wanted to do as well. When I got older the idea of becoming an author slowly faded and my love shifted more toward music When I first decided to write my book “This Is Me Trying: Navigating Through A Lifetime of Trauma”. I was in a very dark place in my life. And to help me get through those times I always relied on music. So, when I began to write my book I wanted to incorporate music somehow. This is where I got the idea to base every chapter after a song that sort of could piggyback as the soundtrack to that chapter.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
This being my first book, I honestly just went with the flow. I would think about what part of my life I wanted to talk about, then find the perfect song and write to it. I would listen to the song for about a week straight before I ever wrote the chapter. If I was out in public and had an idea for that chapter I would write it down in my google documents.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
J.K. Rowling, Lemony Snickett and so many more. Many of these authors are from my childhood book series I would read.

What are you working on now?
Right now I am working on promoting my book and finishing school.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Be sure to edit and hire professional editors. And do not be in a rush things will work out the way they are supposed to.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
From my therapist, “there are many things in this world we can not control. But out of all those things, there is only one thing we can control. Which is our reaction to the situation.” When something bad happens to me I think about this quote.

What are you reading now?
I am not currently reading any books at the moment.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to continue writing for foster children. I also want to write a book for new coming foster parents. Sort of the does and don’t to help them understand the mind of a foster child.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
My DSM-5
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
This Is Me Trying: Navigating Through A Lifetime of Trauma

Barbara Randell

Interview With Author Barbara Randell

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a very senior woman just coming up to my 80th birthday. I have been writing stories since I was a child, and have won prizes for them, in both Primary and High Schools. I grew up on a farm, and spent 9 years in a one-room, one-teacher school. I was in Australia, so was surrounded by kangaroos, emus, koalas, kookaburras, and other native animals, as well as cows, horses, pigs, dogs and cats on the farm.
I spent 4 years in a boarding school far away from the farm, and was very homesick. I think that is why I have such strong memories, which I included in my memoir, the Redgens of Redford.
I studied at University, then taught for many years. At the same time I married, and raised two daughters, and now have one teenage grandson. In the last year, my husband of 53 years passed away, and again I have the time to indulge my hobby of story-telling. So far I have 11 books on Amazon. I also knit items for charity, and sing in a choir, which gives concerts in nursing homes for the aged.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is ‘Darcy’s Pride’, which is a retelling of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. But it is set in my city of Adelaide in Australia, and in the current time. I believe Jane Austen was such a good observer and recorder of humanity, that her stories are transposable to any time and space.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t have a regular time to write, just when inspiration strikes!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Jane Austen, Georgette Heyer, Agatha Christie

What are you working on now?
Another novella based on Jane Austen, but again set in Australia, and in modern days.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Amazon KDP. I also use Draft2Digital, and face to face marketing. Hoping that awesomegang.com can help, too.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep trying, it certainly is not easy!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Keep writing!

What are you reading now?
Jane Austen, Sense and Sensibility

What’s next for you as a writer?
I will write until this body gives out on me.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Pride and Prejudice; Mansfield Park by Jane Austen.; Desiree by Anne-Marie Selinko

I am an ex-media professional who turned to psychology after my wife got diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder. I studied up to become a mental health professional and also started writing my first book, which is a story of our lives. This is the first book I have written.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my first book is Ctrl Alt Repeat. The story is a true story of the life of a family (my family) in which one person suffers from OCD. OCD is a poorly understood disorder and OCD is a grossly abused term. The book intends to throw light on the suffering to help more people become more aware of the disorder.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Does procrastination and watching Netflix count?

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Too many to name, too few to make an exhaustive list.

What are you working on now?
The other books (plural) that I am currently writing are in a series. Of understanding and dealing with different forms of OCD. My second book (first in the series) is a book on dealing with a type of OCD called Relationship OCD or ROCD. I am planning an August release for the same.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
It is not an advice. It is my method, which worked. Write, read, write, read, write. Read everything. Not just classics and well known authors. Also ‘trash’. Some of the best ideas come from those. The more you read and absorb the writing of others to understand how they write, the more you should be able to hone your own writing skills.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Bleed on paper!

What are you reading now?
The Girl Beyond The Gate – Becca Day

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Book Thief, Dracula, the Harry Potter series, complete works of Sherlock Holmes and a few anthologies

Rez Rez

Interview With Author Rez Rez

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a part-time writer with more than a dozen titles to my credit on Amazon, many under different pen names. I’ve written about everything from motorcycling and auto racing to fitness and video games. I’ve recently begun writing books in my favorite genre, light novels.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is “The Bullied Girl’s Revenge”, about a bullied girl in a Japanese high school who learns how to box in order to fight back against the girls who torment her. It’s biggest inspiration is The Karate Kid, one of my favorite movies as a kid and easily one of the best anti-bully movies of all time.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I sneak in most of my writing during work hours. When others are taking cigarette breaks, I’m furiously typing away.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
One of my biggest current influences is Oniisanbomber, a light novel writer who seems to have a knack for writing stories that take place in Japan but are accessible to all audiences. But my all-time favorite author is Arthur C. Clarke, who had an incredible ability to bring futuristic, fantastic worlds to life.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on Devil Blade, an action yuri (girl’s love) light novel. It’s about a kunoichi (female ninja) who makes a deal with a demon in order to gain the power to save her sister.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Awesome Gang seems to be the best, and I’m not just saying that because this is their site. The Gang is consistently rated as the number 1 book promo site for a reason.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write as much as you can and fail as fast as possible. Your early books probably won’t sell much, but they’ll provide valuable lessons that will help your future works be more successful.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Write every day”. You only get better at something by doing it, and writing is a skill that must be honed like any other.

What are you reading now?
I’m doing research for my current light novel, so my reading list includes other action yuri light novels, including “Roll Over and Die” and “The Executioner and Her Way of Life”.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Writing more light novels. It’s an incredibly fun genre in which to work.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I’d just bring the bible. I’m not religious, but it’s a big book and contains some of the greatest stories ever written.

Jonathan Faia

Interview With Author Jonathan Faia

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an indie writer who has released two books titled, Wylde Serenity and the second is, Love Letters From Barstow. I love the classics, Hemmingway, Vonnegut, and Kerouac. There are heavy influences of Beat Poetry in all my works. I also dabble in music when I can and I love spending time in bookstores. There is nothing better than when you find a book full of tabs and notes where the previous owner felt connected.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The title of my latest book is, Love Letters From Barstow. It is a 116 page book of poems that delves into love and loss. Some points brilliant with love, while others dark in respect to losing love. The title was inspired by the long lonely road from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. The city of Barstow lies in the middle and is filled with revelry on the way to your destination and then disappointment and loneliness on the long road home.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to write on everything. I’ve been know to make notes on napkins at a restaurant or a receipt from a grocery trip. It makes it very difficult to coordinate when it comes time to put pen to paper. My writing area is full of shoe boxes with scattered notes. If there was one thing I’d like to improve it would be organization.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m heavily influenced by all the Beat Poets. Particularly Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg. Kerouac’s, On The Road was a coming of age book for me and when I heard Allen Ginsberg recite his poem America it just resonated with me. Hermann Hesse is another big influence on me not always in my writing style, but books like Siddhartha really changed my life at 18.

What are you working on now?
In addition to my books, I also do freelance writing for many websites where I interview other artists including writers, musicians and anyone that creates.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I like Goodreads.com because it’s really a community of readers. It’s made up of people who are passionate about reading, which really gives great perspective when it comes to finding new works.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
The content of the book is priority, and it’s a part of you but don’t overlook the marketing aspect. Have an idea of how you would like to market and explore what a plan might look like. You’ll find that there are a lot of people looking to take advantage of authors and the need for exposure. Talk with your publisher prior to the book release and explore the promotional options.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
It sounds cliché but really, don’t compromise on your vision. In most cases you’ve worked a lifetime and put your being in your work. Don’t be dragged down if big companies pass on your work at first. Stay at it.

What are you reading now?
I just purchased, The Things I Didn’t Say In Therapy by author Logan Duane. I found it in a used bookshop and I’m excited to read it.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m continuing to promote my latest book, Love Letters From Barstow. I enjoy participating in local events to promote books.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
On The Road
Siddartha
The Outlaw Bible To American Literature

Always believe that anything is doable! If you work hard enough and continue to learn from failing, then, one day, you will succeed.

Stella Rainbow

Interview With Author Stella Rainbow

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name’s Stella Rainbow. I write Queer (mainly MM and MM+) Romance with all the fuzzy feelings, a great cast of side characters a.k.a. found family, some adorable furbabies, and lots of sweet moments. I write both paranormal and contemporary romance. I started publishing in June 2020, and as of July, 2022, I’ve published seventeen books and two boxsets.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Watching The Sunrise, an MX romance featuring a genderfluid MC and the man who helps them discover who they truly are. I was talking to a genderfluid friend about her experience when the idea came to me, and with her help, I gave Charlie and Brady a story I’m very proud of.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Hmmm…I don’t know if it’s unusual, but I love listening to songs in languages I don’t understand when I write. I have a habit of singing along, which distracts me if I’m listening to English songs.

Currently, I have a playlist of Thai songs made up of the soundtracks from my favorite Thai shows.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Rick Riordan is my favorite author, and I adore the way he writes. His characters’ voices are honest and real, and I try to learn from that. Also, I love how diverse the cast in his books are.

What are you working on now?
I’m working on the third book in my Lords of Otherworld series, Nox, and having a lot of fun with it. Nox, the titular main lead, has a habit of making bad/crazy choices, and watching him flounder is very entertaining.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My newsletter readers, without a doubt. They’re a sweet, amazing bunch who are very supportive and always make me feel glad I do what I do.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing, and don’t let anything stop you. But at the same time, make sure you take care of yourself. You need to be healthy to write great books!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
That writing/publishing/being an author, it isn’t a race, it’s a marathon. All you need to focus on is to keep going.

What are you reading now?
A Mage’s Guide to Aussie Terrors by AJ Sherwood. It’s hilarious!

What’s next for you as a writer?
I have way too many ideas in my head, so I need to sit down and make a concrete plan for what 2023 will look like for me.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Hitman’s Guide series by Alice Winters, because I could read them a million times without getting bored.

Jacob Sadler

Interview With Author Jacob Sadler

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a physicist with a lifelong obsession with writing stories. Currently, I work as a chemist for a small metrology lab. My latest book will be my second, with a third presently in development.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“The Innkeeper and the Cannibal” was inspired by my mother’s traumatic brain surgery. I do not want to spoil the story, but she was not treated kindly after her surgery. This said, the narrative soon became a way to talk about my experience with drug addiction, with a cast of supporting characters becoming fully-fledged POVs.
But, I love fantasy and I do not like writing strictly modern stories. I could not bare to build a setting around suburbs. So, I mythologized the story, adding elements of greek tragedy, surrealism, and folklore to the narrative.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I doubt my habits are unusual by a writer’s standards, but I am an outlier amongst those I know.

I wake up early before work every day. If I am writing that day, I task myself with creating only a single sentence. It tricks my psychology. Because even though the task of drafting a chapter at 4 in the morning is demoralizing, I can always do one sentence. Except, of course, I can’t. A sentence always needs something else to make it work, so I end up writing far more than I ever plan to.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
“The Lord of the Rings” is the chief influence on my writing. I never wanted to remake middle-earth or even write fantasy, but I always wanted my “Shire” to feel comfortable. I always want my stories to be moving and my histories to be grand. And of course, I continue wanting to be as good a writer as Tolkien.

Other than that, I love Taoist philosophy. Aphorisms in the Chinese style have made their way into my narratives time and time again.

Really, I am a sucker for classics. Tell me a book has influenced generations of readers and I will try to find it, no matter how old it is.

What are you working on now?
Imagine if Doc Holliday and the cast from “Tombstone” went to the lonely mountain.

Here is the back cover blurb of such a story:

Jessie Bingham’s family is destitute. His farm is dry. When a team of local miners is found dead with strange metal in their packs, Jessie is swept into a story much larger than their small town.
To provide for his sickly children, Jessie soon finds himself on an expedition into the Forlorn Hills. Funded by a corrupt mayor bent on curing her blindness, the group seeks the mythical city of an ancient god-king.

Once the band crosses the Forlorn Hills, they realize the lichen-covered ruins of their little valley were only the outer remnants of a much larger civilization. Now, Jessie Bingham finds himself fending off attacks from mysterious animals and peoples. If he is to get his reward and save his family from poverty, he will have to do as the mayor wants. But to do that, he will first have to walk the line between myth and history.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I think I am a pretty good writer, a fairly adequate mathematician, and a stellar scientist. But I am not a great marketer. Next question!

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never rush. Whatever timeline you set for yourself, double it. Do everything slowly. Outline your chapters on paper, make edits while reading aloud, and do not be afraid to delete huge sections of text. Just because you wrote “The End” does not mean you are finished.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
My future wife once read something I wrote. I had stayed up all night, drinking coffee and fanatically typing. I had her read it and she replied, “You are a good writer, but do not let your arrogance get the best of you.”

What are you reading now?
I recently returned from Québec and came back with a trove of books. I am working through “La Chasse-Galerie” right now. It is a collection of French-Canadian folktales.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Aside from my aforementioned western, my grandfather has tasked me with completing his children’s novel. I do not know if I am up to the task, but I will be looking at his manuscript sometime this quarter.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
1) Godel, Escher, Bach
2) Tao Te Ching
3) Lord of the Rings
4) “Classical Mechanics” by Taylor or “Electricity and Magnetism” by Griffiths. Depends on how steampunk I want to make that island.

L.E Wagensveld

Interview With Author L.E Wagensveld

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hello! I’m a writer, assistant librarian, and busy mama from B.C, Canada. My Stevenson Family series is a bit of a nod to the small town life that definitely had a hand in inspiring the stories. Though Breaking Down is only the first, released on May 26/22, the series will be at least four books. I have other projects constantly on the go that I hope to one day set free in the world!

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Breaking Down has a few meanings, one being literal. Carmen’s car breaks down near the little town of Willow Brook, where she spends time waiting for repairs… enter the sexy mechanic! On a more abstract note, it also alludes to the breaking down of her life as she knew it, as the story is very much about her getting herself together again after a messy break-up.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not any more so than the rest of my kind! Usually, I’m attempting to navigate around a cat and struggling to concentrate during life’s many distractions.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love a good romance novel, anything by Christina Lauren or Beth O’Leary. The books that have substance as well as all the other good stuff. I knew I wanted to write romance novels for the escape aspect. I love to give a reader a break from the every day, a place to go when they need a breather, a smile, and a feel-good moment.

What are you working on now?
At the moment, I am working on editing the first draft of the third Stevenson Family book. This story will feature Carmen’s brother Jake and his struggles. I’m also tag teaming a story about a single mother and her road back to herself with one of my best friends. It’s our first time writing together, and it’s been great!

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
On my website, www.lewagensveld.com, you can find all the links to purchase Breaking Down and a bit about me, my socials, and some blog posts/short stories I have shared. You can also join my mailing list! I need some new pen pals and would love to be able to share exciting news.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just keep going. Write because it makes you happy, or at least because it feels right. It is all a ton of work, but as long as you’re enjoying yourself and feeding your creative spirit, it is worth it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I once got to meet Canadian mystery author Gail Bowen, and she shared a quote about writing during the busy, child-raising season of life that has stuck with me always. She said you have to “write in the cracks of your life” So, fill those tiny moments with creative energy, and eventually, they’ll all add up.

What are you reading now?
I’m in between books at the moment! But I just finished binge-reading The Change by Kirsten Miller, and it absolutely blew my mind!

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’d love to find an agent to work with and take my career to the next level.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren and The Huntress by Kate Quinn… am I allowed to say a notebook for writing? I’d sneak that there as well.

INSPIRATION: My book My Journey Landing Heaven on Earth Vol. I describes how, in February 1973 as former General Counsel of the New York City Environmental Protection Administration, I was taken up into an Extraterrestrial Space craft along with then future US President Jimmy Carter and US Chrononaut & Mars Explorer Andrew D. Basiago and told: “Thou art Peter and upon this Rock I will build my Church”. These are the words of the synoptic gospels paraphasing the words of the historical Jesus to his apostle Peter. US Chrononaut Andrew D. Basiago has witnessed a Top Secret US government time travel video documentary of the Crucifixion of the Historical Jesus. My book reports that US top-secret time travel confirms the truth and authenticity of the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth as told in the Bible. This is an important historical affirmation for humanity.

Anthony Talmage

Interview With Author Anthony Talmage

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
After I took early retirement as a journalist with the BBC I set about realizing the dream in the heart of every hack – write a novel. Two years later I published Ticket to a Killing who’s hero is British investigative journalist Emma Holgate. She uncovers the story of the decade involving the National Lottery, a serial killer, a global drugs cartel and a plot to destroy the world’s financial markets. I followed this up with The Kirov Conspiracy, in which US newsman Paul Scott fights a drugs cartel funding Putin’s war in Syria. He has offers to make him a very rich man, or a very dead one. And my third novel The Kingdom and the Glory was inspired by Donald Trump’s presidency. The ‘House of Cards’ style plot is about murder, blackmail and treason and is set in a ruined post-Brexit UK. The central character is the deputy Prime Minister, who conspires with the US President to assassinate the British PM.
I then wrote a collection of short stories called Cut to the Quick before turning my attention to three non-fiction books which I called my ‘Psychic Mind’ series, about psychic and paranormal phenomena. And they are by far my most popular books. They are called Dowse Your Way To Psychic Power, In Tune With The Infinite Mind and the one I have already mentioned, Unlock The Psychic Powers Of Your Unconscious Mind. If you are interested to know more follow this link: https://books2read.com/ap/RQAvNV/Anthony-Talmage
And there’s a free podcast based on the first of the series which you can find here: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1742930

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
As mentioned it’s Unlock The Psychic Powers Of Your Unconscious Mind ,which is a follow-up to my two other metaphysical books building on the same themes but adding a lot of new material. It’s already received over 180 reviews so I decided to produce an audiobook version. If you would like to know more here’s a link to the site: https://www.audible.com/pd/B0B27R4VCM/?source_code=AUDFPWS0223189MWT-BK-ACX0-309549&ref=acx_bty_BK_ACX0_309549_rh_us

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I roughly draft my ideas until I reckon I’ve got all the material I need, but not necessarily in the right order, and then I lock myself away in my garden shed, only emerging to take my brown labrador for a walk, until it’s done. This usually takes 3-4 weeks.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
On the novel front its L D Beyer, Todd Merer and Sam Bourne while my hero metaphysical author is Colin Wilson

What are you working on now?
I’m starting on the fourth in my ‘Psychic Mind’ series based on the subject of Egregores – collective thought forms that can have a profound effect on society. They abound at the moment in the war in Ukraine. In fact it’s a battle of the egregores as much as the Ukrainian and Russian combatants.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Best method – Amazon Marketing. Best website – draft2digital

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Stop talking about it and sit down and WRITE!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?

What are you reading now?

What’s next for you as a writer?
More audiobooks which are a complementary way to promote ebooks and paperback versions

The Essential Colin Wilson, The Energy Cure by Bill Bengston and The World of the Paranormal.
