I am a writer. I am a Grambling State University and Oral Roberts University alumni. I’m also a mental health advocate. I’ve authored the books Love, Serve, Inspire and Your Past Does not Define You.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Your Past does not Define You. I was inspired to tell my story to help others overcome. As I begin to heal, over the years, I realized that my story could be the solution to someone else’s problem. I wanted to share my story from a place of victory and not of grief so that others could know that their past does not define them.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
If you consider writing to control your temper as unusual. I started writing in elementary school to express my feelings and control my temper.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Some authors that have influenced me in financial literacy Dave Ramsey “Total Money Makeover” and “Financial Peace.” Book pertaining relationship development is “Waiting and Dating” by Dr. Myles Monroe and “The 5 love Languages” singles edition by Gary Champman. Lastly spiritually “The Man God Has for You” by Stephan Labossiere. I believe these books have helped me financially, relational, and spiritually.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I market my book through public speaking engagements, book signings, social media outlets, articles, and appearances on blogs.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Every failure is another opportunity to be greater. When you fall, get back up and try a different strategy. Do not worry about the destination but learn through the process. Remember not perfection but progression. It is about what you learn along the way that helps you gain wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be the best version of yourself that you could possibly be and do not dim your light for anyone. Through these steps you will learn how to love yourself and be great.

What are you reading now?
Your Past Does not Define you

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My family immigrated from English in the 1650’s to Virginia and from Germany in the 1900’s before settling in Oklahoma. I grew up in small town America in the 1970’s and 80’s before attending the University of Oklahoma where I studied English Literature and History. I went on to receive a Master’s in Marriage and Family Counseling.

My wife and I met at OU and married in 1994. We moved overseas with our first child in 2000 and lived in Istanbul for 19 years until the government of Turkey gave me a permanent entry ban in 2020. During the Covid lockdown I finished my first book, “Seeing God: For Who He Really Is”, which was published in September of 2020.

We moved back overseas in January of 2021 to the island of Cyprus, where I continue to write and be involved in Christian ministry. We have 3 children, one of whom still lives with us and 2 who are pursuing their studies back in the United States. “My determined purpose is to know God” and He is the center of my life. Every day lived for Him is a great day!

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“The Danger of Being Alone Together: Essays on Technology and Truth” was written during the last 2 years of the Covid-19 Pandemic. During this time, we have relied on technology to keep us connected to our world, whether it be work, school or even church and yet the limits of technology still creates barriers, even while it connects us.

This book is a collection of short essays that discuss the challenges of our modern world and is designed to help believers understand those challenges and deal with them effectively.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I can write in many different circumstances, but when I have to buckle down and meet a deadline, nothing fuels my writing like listening to instrumental guitar music. My favorite album for this is “Beyond Nature” by Phil Keaggy.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
As a lifelong reader, there are too many influences to share, so I will limit myself to just a few.

C.S. Lewis – the breadth of his writing is a great influence, with his focus on thinking deeply about many different things and expressing his thoughts both creatively and for a general audience. There are many great Christian thinkers, but few who can express those thoughts in such an accessible form.

J.R.R. Tolkien – The Hobbit was the first great book I remember reading and The Lord of the Rings fueled my childhood imagination. These are one of the only series of books, outside of the Bible that I have reread multiple times.

The Body – Chuck Colson – This book expanded my understanding of the Body of Christ. It cast a vision for the work of God in the world that stuck with me and led me to pursue following Him wherever He might lead to be a part of His work.

Experiencing God – Henry Blackaby – Find where God is at work and join Him is a principle that every Christian should practice.

Neal Stephenson – He writes beautiful, descriptive, imaginative worlds into being and is able to create characters who live in those worlds in a way real people can relate to.

Douglas Adams – Gave me an appreciation for British humor and a love of the absurd in science fiction. Also introduced me to the joy of interconnectedness, which probably contributed to my appreciation of Seinfeld.

Gregory McDonald – His Fletch series was the first character that I was ever addicted to reading about. Fletch was someone who could bend the rules to the narrative in a way that always worked out.

Christian biographies – I recommend any believer pick up the habit of reading these. Some of my favorites: “Daws”, “Surprised by Joy”, and “Bonhoeffer “.

What are you working on now?
A work of fiction that deals with a possible near future and a work of historical fiction that follows the immigration of families to the United States that mirrors my own families. These should be published in 2022.

Coming in 2023, a sequel to “Seeing God”, which deals with the communal aspect of our pursuit of knowing Him and living together as His children.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Social media and newsletters are the best way to stay in touch with your fans. Kindlepreneur offers wonderful insights for writers and publishers.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Books don’t write themselves. You need to develop a daily discipline of writing. Hold yourself accountable to producing a volume of writing. Spend time editing when you are in a focused mood, but make yourself write even when you don’t feel like it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Start each day with a quiet time alone with God, reading His Word and in prayer. End each day with a good work of Fiction, leaving behind the cares of this world.

What are you reading now?
Dominion by Tom Holland

To Sleep in a Sea of Stars by Christopher Paolini

What’s next for you as a writer?
Keeping up with regular articles for my website, but writing more fiction.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Can the LOTR Trilogy be one?

The Bible is the only book that I would have to have, but the Lord of the Rings and Mere Christianity would be a blessing on top of that.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am the author of the fantasy fiction trilogy The Kenryk Series. I am a hybrid introvert/extrovert with a social battery of two hours. I have been writing since I was ten years old and finally gathered the courage to let my characters engage with other people who are not me by going the self publishing route. Music is my muse -with- according to Spotify, Kpop being my most listened to genre. I enjoy singing hopelessly out of tune in my car and pretending I can keep up with complicated choreography in my attempt to do cardio. I also feel awkward writing this about myself.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Kenryk Series: The Avaris. As for inspiration, it is normally music. I have been writing non-stop since I was 10. I always have a book in me, some story that wants me to write it.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I cannot force myself to write. If I am not anchored to something, be it music or TV series or anything, I cannot write. I only write when my mind decides.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Sherilynn Kenyon, J.K Rowling, A.C. Jordan are some of the authors that have inspired me. I read mostly books not in my genre, though, so perhaps the only fantasy fiction book that has inspired me is the Lord of the Rings

What are you working on now?
The second book in my trilogy called The Kenryk Series: The Rise of of the Emoryk

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’ve mostly been using facebook and instagram and running campaigns on Amazon

Do you have any advice for new authors?
You need the audacity to believe you can do it. Don’t overthink it. Just do it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t overthink. Do you.

What are you reading now?
I’m in a reading funk.

What’s next for you as a writer?
To continue growing as a writer. To read even more books. To create a connection with my readers.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Anything by Lucy Lennox, Ella Frank and Eden Finley

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve been writing since I was twelve, and think I want to be an animator when I finish college. I became an author because I love creating new characters, worlds, and objects, and the easiest way I thought I could do that was through writing. I couldn’t draw (yet!), I didn’t know how to animate, and I couldn’t think of any other ways to spread my imagination. So… I started writing! I’m currently writing 17 books. Eight of them are part of my main series, which I call Myriad&Visionary. All of my books that don’t fall into the M&V category are labeled as ‘extras.’ Most of my characters don’t like butterflies, I subconsciously look past race and ethnicity (people are just… people), and I don’t like pineapples on pizza. I’m not amazing at writing action scenes (with people who know how to fight), but I’m reading a bunch of books to get better. I was a reader before I was a writer, and I recently found out that I don’t use all ten of my fingers when I type (more like… five or six – max). And I love interacting with people (online and in real life). I’m a huge extrovert, and I like to think that I’m patient enough to deal with people who are not. I love all my characters (even the ‘bad’ ones), and I believe that if people tried to help each other instead of shunning all the humans with bad personality traits, the world would be a much better place.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
It doesn’t have a name yet, but (in my head) I’m calling it ‘I am the Grim Reaper.’ I can’t use that name because that’s the name of a Webtoon (go look it up!), but that’s what I always refer to it as when I think about it. It’s about a boy named Miles who finds out that he’s part Grim Reaper (hence the ‘title’), and it was inspired by seeing a cool-looking book cover on Goodreads.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not that I can think of. I switch the page color in Word a lot, move my book to Reedsy when I need a new format, and I don’t really like to write anywhere other than my dining room. Do those count?

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Ooh! Well, the ‘Keeper of the Lost Cities’ series (by Shannon Messenger) inspired one of my characters, Rick Riordan’s books are helping me with some plot fixes, and Bobby Pendragon (from the ‘Pendragon’ series by D. J. MacHale) influenced my description and storytelling strategies quite a lot.

What are you working on now?
Um… a lot of things. I’ve been putting a lot of energy into one of my M&V books. It’s about a boy and a girl who have to complete several tasks to break a restraint on an old, powerful weapon. I actually finished writing the first draft of another M&V book, but it’s in need of copyediting, rewriting, rereading, rereading again, and tons of other stuff (that’s what I should be working on).

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Well, I’m looking some up now. That’s how I stumbled upon this page, so I don’t have any good ones to suggest yet.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Sure! Use Grammarly, care about all of your characters before you start writing them, and don’t be afraid to go off the rails. If the author in you (or your characters) is telling you to do something, do it. Even if it wasn’t in your timeline or storyboard, usually your instincts are highly reliable. Remember, nobody knows your books or your characters better than you.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
‘If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.’ (Dolly Parton) It applies to everything (not just writing), but if you want something specifically elated to book-making, then it’s ‘Don’t push through your writer’s block.’ It happens to the best of us, but one thing I’ve learned the hard way is that pushing through writer’s block does not yield good results. Though it may for some people, I find the best way to get over the block is to go out and get inspired! And if you’re not one of those people who likes outside, then go surf the internet. Watch a bad movie. Make a dumb joke on Pinterest. Go to DeviantArt. There are a ton of resources for inspiration. Don’t think, ‘Oh, I’ll just put something on the paper until I get my juices flowing again. Maybe it’ll be good!’ Trust me, unless you’re mad talented, it won’t.

What are you reading now?
I’m currently rereading the KOTLC series (I’ve already read it once). I don’t have a lot of time to read (with school, writing, projects, animating), but I’m also rereading the ‘Pendragon’ series and ‘The Missing’ series by Margaret Peterson Haddix. I never finished those.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Finish and publish the rest of my books, and make enough money to fill my savings account. And… start a Webtoon! That counts as writing (I think).

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, one. But then… ‘Exile’ (Shannon Messenger), ‘The Treasure in the Sky’ (my book), and ‘Sent’ (Margaret Peterson Haddix).

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m still a fairly new author having written five books and debuted two of them. I;m currently working on my sixth book and plan to release my third in spring 2022. I was born and raised in Cleveland, OH, though I wouldn’t release any of my work until 2020 when I arrived to Cincinnati, OH. I had never done anything like this before, being able to learn on my own and with the help of my husband was amazing. I’ve always been shy, but releasing my writing and photography has really helped me get out of my shell and be more open to speaking to people. Especially with me discovering how powerful my voice can be.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is entitled Traumas Left Behind: Heartbreak. It’s a compilation of poems I had written about my failed past relationships. I was consistently heartbroken and many of the events and actions during those relationships traumatized me to the point where I would treat my current husband badly. I was hurting myself more mentally and emotionally because I was unable to let go of the traumas those relationships caused. I wanted to heal, and I’ve been able to do so. By writing this book, I hope those who read it are inspired to heal internally as well. Not just for themselves, but for those around them. Especially if they have children.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’ll write a bunch of short hand notes over a few months before I finally begin writing chapters. I’ll always take a year or so writing before I get to the editing and proofreading. I want my books to be as perfect as possible before I put them out. Rushing never helped, Learned that when writing my first novel Khyrus: Deity of Virtue & Strength.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Maya Angelou was/is my biggest inspiration. She went through so much, but conquered each obstacle.

What are you working on now?
The final touches of my already written books and begging my sixth.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Promotional ads on social media have helped me so much over the last few months. Especially with COVID restrictions/limitations causing a lot of things to not run as smoothly as they were before.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never quit. No matter if it’s your first book or 100th book. The more you write, the better you get.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Quitters never get far in life.

What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading Deja Soul, written by Rachel Griffin. She’s an underground author. The book hasn’t been released yet, but the story will be worth the read.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Writing more poems and getting more projects under my belt.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
1. Survival Book
2. Navigation Book
3. Notebook

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born in Hertfordshire, England and I moved to London in my early 20’s. I’m an honorary Londoner now, though no cockney rhyming slang yet. I live in the city with my wife and children. I’ve recently finished my first science fiction novella.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My novella’s entitled ‘The Save Humanity Project’. It’s about a very large and mean asteroid on a collision course with earth. The book’s main character is an observer of the last attempts to avoid total catastrophe.

This is going to sound a little odd, but I took inspiration from coronavirus. Or rather, writing was a way for me to cope with some of my own mental health difficulties during the pandemic. I used the novella to get my feelings on paper, replacing Covid 19 with a dastardly impact event.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have a day job and children, so my life is quite busy. Finding the time to write is an ongoing battle. I try to set aside an hour a week. Even then, I often get disturbed with requests for drinks, snacks, or chores. One unusual thing I started doing was to use my mobile phone notes app to jot things down. Usually whilst waiting about. For example, I’d write during my lunch hour, or when queuing for the children at school pick-ups or clubs.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love science fiction and fantasy. My writing can be quite dark, though I try not to be all doom and gloom. I guess I’m influenced by people like H.G. Wells and George Orwell. I also love Ernest Cline; Ready Player One is such an enjoyable read.

What are you working on now?
I’m going to start a follow-up to The Save Humanity Project. It will explore a previous attempt to deal with the asteroid and preserve the future of mankind. My intention is to write three novellas that will form a complete novel.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I try to make use of all the resources which Amazon makes available to authors. Free giveaways and social media are helpful.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Well considering that I am a new author, I’m not sure I have a great deal of advice to offer yet. I suppose just keep on keeping on. Enjoy the writing process. Do it for yourself. Don’t get hung up on all the other stuff.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
My grandmother wrote in her memoir that it’s important to try to appreciate what you have and what you can achieve. That’s pretty sound advice. She’s a wonderful woman.

What are you reading now?
I’m working my way through the Harry Potter series with one of my children. I’m also reading Dune for myself (loving it).

What’s next for you as a writer?
To keep finding the time to write and to start on a second novella.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
For real? Well, I guess some kind of survival guide for living on a desert island and getting rescued. Bear Grylls has had a few published. Is that a dull answer? Ok, so maybe Ready Player One as well 😊

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an entrepreneur, coach, author, YouTuber, and MBA. I came to the US with my family from Korea in 2009. Now, I am the President at Global Leader Training, a corporate training consultancy. I have been practicing more than two decades in the areas of leadership development, management skills, and mindset mastery training. As a professional coach, I am committed to helping people unlock their potential and perform their best. I live in Pacifica, California.
I have written three books so far.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book is Action Guide for US Immigrants.
After just a few months we arrived in the US, the company I worked for filled for bankruptcy. I went looking for another job. But for a foreigner who needs the H-1B (Work) visa sponsorship, that’s a hard thing to get. Times couldn’t get any harder. But in the darkest hours, the best lessons are learned and hope is always on the horizon. I found that out when I met an investor and pitched an idea that couldn’t be refused.

Living, working, and raising children in another country was a big challenge. I believe most immigrants probably feel the same way I did because everything is different from their culture—language, laws, customs, styles, systems, and so on.

Whenever I had problems, I asked to the people around me, but each person gave me different ideas, and I found later that much of the advice I received didn’t work for me.
So I googled, conducted research, and read lots of books, but almost all I found were about local sightseeing for international travelers. It was not practical information that we immigrants could use immediately to settle in our new environment and ultimately, succeed in realizing the American Dream.

I have achieved almost all of my 10-year goals I brought with me to the US in 2009. I had to learn everything from scratch, by trial and error, paying a high cost for the lessons I learned. This book contains the knowledge and insights I’ve acquired from past experience, because I really want to help my fellow immigrants adjust to their communities, achieve goals, and live their best lives much faster by applying the lessons to work, family, and life.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Before writing, I speak, record, and listen to it. I also ask for feedback about it from others. If all sound good, I put it in written words.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Books from Napoleon Hill, Jack Canfield, Stephen Covey, Brian Tracy, John Maxwell, Anthony Robbins, Kenneth Blanchard, David Bach, and great Asian philosophers, including Confucius, Mencius, Lao-tzu, and Han Fei Tzu.

What are you working on now?
I am working on promoting my new book, Action Guide for US Immigrants, that has been just released.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I think the best method is a combination of emails, ads, and social media.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Please be brave and feel free to write anything you want to share with the world. You are unique and must have your own strengths, stories, and experience that everyone wants to hear and learn from you. YOU ARE SPECIAL!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Give thanks in ALL circumstances – 1 Thessalonians 5:18

What are you reading now?
Rapid Growth by Kathryn M. Hinckley

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’d like to create a series of this new book, Action Guide for US Immigrants.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born on January 15, 1986 in Teleorman, Romania. I started with the novel “Irecuperabil” in 2019, written and published in my home country. I currently live in Germany, where I published the English version of the novel, Irretrievable.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The last book I wrote is something different from what I wrote in the past. It is the story of a woman who travels to the past. The book is in progress at the publishing house. I always had an affinity for the past.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write at night. I don’t know if it’s unusual, most writers probably feel more comfortable and relaxed during the night. Unusual would probably be the fact that I wake up during the night with an idea that I write down immediately. It doesn’t matter what time it is …

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Every book I read in the past influenced me, national or international works. They all contributed a bit to my training. And I really read a lot …

What are you working on now?
Now I am working on volume II of the last book, the first volume is already working on the publishing house and a volume of poetry.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
When it comes to promoting my books, I admit I’m not good at it. I use a Facebook page and that’s about it … unfortunately.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
If writing is their passion, don’t give up. To write daily, no matter how little. It matters a lot!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice that really helped me was read in an interview with Hemingway. “You read what you wrote and, as you always stop when you know what is going to happen, keep going. You write until you get to a point where you still have sap and you know what’s going to happen next; you stop and try to live until the next day, when you “hit” again. ”

What are you reading now?
Unfortunately, writing takes up a lot of my time … I’ve put reading aside for now.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Surely many stories will come to life, I still have so much to tell. I will never stop writing, I could not live without it. Writing makes me feel complete.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Hemingway, Hemingway, Hemingway… ;p ( smiling)
