Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi world. I’m Maria Bolanle Moses, I live in the heart of Toronto, Canada. My love for stories and creation started at a young age and has gradually taken over my life. A Curse of Roses is my debut novel and the first in a trilogy. I’m obsessed with mythology, anime, and the performing arts. When I’m not writing, I can be found designing dresses, reading and auditioning for my next big part.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
A Curse of Roses – inspired by the love of fairy tales and the fault in human nature to make monsters out of shadows. If I said more, I would spoil the book. No spoilers.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write the best stories in bed. Sadly that means I don’t sleep much. But let me tell you, nothing gets the creative juices flowing like lack of sleep.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Leigh Bardugo Grishaverse series and Sarah J. Maas’s Throne of Glass and A Court of Thorns and Roses series pushed me to write more and be better. I would like to grow a fanbase as dedicated as theirs one day.

What are you working on now?
I am working on the sequel to A Curse of Roses. Its working title is: A Path of Thorns. It’s going great…really.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Instagram does most of my promoting. I write too much to be active but you can find me there. I don’t bite.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
1. Write and don’t stop until you’re done and if you’re lucky that will be when your heart stops.
2. Read and appreciate it
3. Learn the writing rules. Once you know them, figure out which ones you want to bend and which ones you want to break. Then write.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Not everyone will love your work. That means someone will.

What are you reading now?
The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

What’s next for you as a writer?
Finishing this trilogy and starting the next

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Six of Crows
The Crown of Gilded Bones
Sorcery of Thorns
Can I bring my manuscript? (I need to finish it)

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I started writing and publishing Spanish and English books for my students as an online teacher. When COVID hit, I quit my own successful, online company because of the stress during that time. When the opportunity presented itself to start helping others write and publish books, it was ideal. I could transfer my teaching skills, as well as the knowledge gained from publishing 15 of my own books, and still help others. That is how Nomad Publishing began. I have published 2 collaborative travel books in 2021, and am working on my 3rd, which will be published in March, 2022.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Born to Travel: Wanderlust Families that Collect Passport Stamps Instead of Toys was my lastest book. It was inspired by families who have chosen to travel the world with their children. Family travel is completely underrepresented, and many people believe that it has no value, or is even detrimental to children. Which cannot be further from the truth. The book features 12 authors who share their unique stories.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Many! I will often transcribe my thoughts and then turn them into ¨writing¨. I also like writing at night, when everyone else is asleep.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
There was this series of books, fiction, based on crime. The titles went by the alphabet, so they were like A is for Alibi, M is for Murder, etc. When I live in El Salvador, a woman was leaving and just gave me a box of books. About 20 of them were by this author. I couldn’t put them down! I also enjoy true crime.

What are you working on now?

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
The best way to promote is when someone is looking for the information in the book. If I see someone ask online, I will comment with the book link (as long as it honestly is the answer to their question).

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Your first draft will be horrible. Do it anyway. Once you have something down, you have something to work with.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If it bleeds, it leads. Meaning, if it doesn’t hurt to write it – no one will read it.

What are you reading now?
Unfortunately – nothing but my own books. I try to hide in the bathroom for 5-10 minutes to get some books in…. but my small children make it hard for me!

What’s next for you as a writer?
I am putting together a book called Gringos: American Expats Living the Mexican Dream, which will detail our decisions to move to Mexico.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
A Time to Kill, The Lottery, and a Chicken Soup book.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have created 20+ children’s activity and coloring books. I recently began writing children’s books. Overall, it has been a really fun adventure!

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My most recent book is ‘Mama’s Vegetable Garden’. I wrote this book with my daughter Charlotte in mind. I worked at a flower shop for 10 years. I learned a lot about the blooms and became very interested in gardening. This eventually grew from planting flowers to planting vegetables.

Ever since Charlotte was a baby, she has loved helping me in the garden and watching everything grow. She helps me harvest tomatoes, pole beans, and so many other vegetables each season. It is such a fun and rewarding family activity.

I can’t help but think that is why she loves salads and veggies so much. She picks them right out of the garden snacks on them!

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing…don’t stop! It can be slow at first, but in the end it is very rewarding!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Do what makes you happy.

What are you reading now?
I am actually reading a couple of Reiki healing books. I picked it up as a hobby which quickly morphed into taking courses to become a certified Reiki master. I am currently in my final class, and I can’t wait to see what the future brings!

What’s next for you as a writer?
I intend to continue with children’s books. Eventually, I hope to branch out and write self-help books and books to supports moms.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve been a writer all my life, but mostly applied that skill to dull work-related papers until I decided to try my hand at a couple books and now I’m hooked on that!

The Adventures of Dan and Tina is my first major book. It’s part memoir and part self-help book. From there, I’m moving on to writing a totally unrelated fantasy novel.

I’m learning to fly airplanes and reconnecting with other creative pursuits like music and video production, as well.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Adventures of Dan and Tina – Enduring and Recovering from Narcissistic Abuse began as a therapeutic outlet after ending a long and tortured on-again-off-again relationship with a dangerous, personality-disordered woman. It took years to see through the maze of lies and covert abuse that was withering every aspect of my life and then years more to claw my way back to sanity when it was over.

I realized it’s a pretty compelling tale and one that I thought could be of value to others who may have found themselves in similarly abusive relationships, so I published it.

It’s been gratifying and humbling to hear from people who’ve been helped by my book.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have poor writing habits. I’m a creature of inspiration, not routine. I write when the words come to me. Trying to force it sometimes yields results, but often not.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
My mom influenced me to read from a young age and I’ve devoured books all these years. They’ve all influenced me in some way or another.

What are you working on now?
My next book will be a fantasy fiction yarn about a chance meeting of strangers seeking shelter from a storm in a mysterious and spooky location. Conflict, intrigue and murder ensues. I’m well into it and hope to have it published early in 2022.

It’s a far-cry from The Adventures of Dan and Tina! I guess I don’t see myself getting pinned down to one genre to write for.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Tricky. I’m still throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks as far as book promotion goes. I have found some success with social media. I have a decent facebook following and found their ads useful, because of how specific you can be in targeting an appropriate audience. Amazon ads are doing OK for me, now, but they take longer (and cost significantly) to get working.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Hire an editor (or two). Editing your own work is difficult at best and proofreading it is impossible.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t quit.

What are you reading now?
I just finished reading a book called Drunk Talk. It’s a cynical, semi-satirical sort-of philosophy book based on drunken conversations.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m working on my fantasy fiction novel and I have another non-fiction book planned. How far I get on those may depend on how well The Adventures of Dan and Tina fares in the marketplace. Promoting the book takes more effort than writing it did.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I’d be looking for a 10,000-page omnibus of A Song of Ice and Fire, for one. Probably something by Brandon Sanderson and definitely a book called How to Survive and Rescue Yourself when Stranded on a Desert Island. That one would be dog-eared.

L.E. Mullin

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi. I’ve been making graphic novels for ten years. I have nine graphic novels published on Amazon to this day.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called Father and Son, and it’s part of my The Flight of the Condor series. It’s largely inspired by the Batman comics that I grew up reading and still read. It’s about a rich boy who is haunted by an Incan God and becomes a vigilante.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not that I know of. I write an outline to know what happens on every page and then write the dialogues once the page is drawn.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Alan Moore and Denny O’Neil, mostly, but also John Ostrander on Suicide Squad, and Grant Morrison and Neil Gaiman. I’d say the comic that has influenced me the most is Denny O’Neil’s The Question. Outside comics, I’d say Latin American literature from the twentieth century (García Márquez, Onetti, Borges, Rulfo…)

What are you working on now?
Right now I’m drawing the first pages of the fourth The Flight of the Condor graphic novel. I still don’t have a title for it.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Some of my books are free on kindle, and sometimes I let people on reddit know. That’s pretty much all the promotion I do.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Well, one thing that has helped me keep on making these graphic novels is the idea that yes, you should pursue success, but you should ask yourself if all the effort you’re putting in will be worthwhile in the end, even if you completely fail in your pursuit of success. If your answer’s a clear Yes, if it’s all worth doing even if you never get the recognition or profit you would love to have, then I think you’re writing for the right reasons, whatever they are. Then you’re unstoppable.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Alan Moore said once you should treat writing like a God. You should worship it, sacrifice yourself to it, instead of using it to get famous or things like that. It’s a bit obscure, but I think it’s the best I have ever heard, by far.

What are you reading now?
In comics, I’m reading Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale’s Batman: The Long Halloween. Novels, I’m reading The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, by Michael Chabon, and Petersburg, by Andry Biely. This one is, in Vladimir Nabokov’s opinion, the second-best novel of the past century.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’s always the script of the next graphic novel. After that, I don’t know.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I had to choose now, I’d bring Jorge Luis Borges’ complete short stories, The Tin Drum by Günter Grass, and Watchmen by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. I’d probably choose something different tomorrow, or in fifteen minutes.
