Jenney Clark

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was working to make ends meet in the Hospitality Industry until the Pandemic hit. I worked as Corporate Head of Marketing in 5 star and 4 star Hotels of international repute including Accor and Starwood. However my heart was nt in the corporate world. I was anchoring events and training people and my spirit wanted me to write and do energy work. A couple of years, I had visions, Kundalini Awakening and Astral experiences . At the time I practiced yoga and also abstained from fleshly pursuits. I lived like a hermit and still do. I am now a vegetarian. I have honed my spiritual skills with time. I have written short stories and 2 books. One of them was published in a magazine called “One in the hole” in Jackson, Wyoming USA. The other 2 books are “Don’t Be Afraid to love” and “Magic of the Ancients” . I write under the Pseudonym of Jenney Clark. I moved back to the city last year and am still training people and writing.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Magic of the Ancients” was published recently recently on 27th November 2021. Spirituality and my muse inspired it. The pandemic gave me time to reflect on love and spirituality. It took me 2 years, a few supernatural experiences, a some lemony snickets, and a decade of cramming to write it. This book is a veritable encyclopedia on crystals, sacred geometry, symbols, 188 universal laws, reincarnation, shadow work, numerology, karmic wheel of life, chakras, Shamanism, Buddhist teachings, Lexigrams, Tarot spreads and more!

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I listen to music by underground hiphop artists, or MJ and Bob Marley to get my mojo.
I love classical music , I do my best work while listening to Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Bach and other classical composers.
But my most favorite is ” Nuper rosarum flores.” It was played as a motet, composed by Guillaume Dufay for the 25 March 1436 consecration of the Florence cathedral. The occasion was the completion of the dome built under the instructions of Filippo Brunelleschi.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Oh this is a priceless question.. I have been reading since a very young age. it started with Grimms, moved to Lewis Caroll, Enid Blyton, Carolyn Keene, Leo Tolstoy, Edgar Allan Poe, Mark Twain, Jane Austen, Toni Morrison, Edgar Cayce, Ernest Hemingway, Lord Byron, Mary Shelley,

What are you working on now?
I am working on my 2nd book in the series and have an Anthology and 2 Collabs that I am pursuing

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I check my algorithms regularly and I am active on social media. I have found goodreads and reedsy to be quite active

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Follow your heart. never let anyone stop you from pursuing your dreams. The Buddhists have a chant, “Nam Myoho Renge Kyo” , it is also called the Lotus Sutra . Though the meaning alludes to the community, Buddhists practice it as a means to detachment. In the experience I’ve had, I learnt nothing is permanent in this world. Buddha once said all attachment causes pain and suffering. So if you want to love, love unconditionally. If you want to serve, serve without expectation. And if you want to create , create without limitation.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Thank you for this question. As with most things that are mystical in nature, the deeper one goes into the mysteries of hallowed ancient teachings the more wisdom one gains. “Know Thyself”, that wonderful Greek adage from the Delphi Mystics is my personal favorite.

What are you reading now?
Magic of the Ancients 2 , I am on a journey into the great unknown.

What’s next for you as a writer?
As a woman, I have learnt that women tend to put everything into a relationship and have many expectations. My next book will be fiction, about love, passions, egos and relationships. I wish to reach as many hearts and change as many lives as I can, crossing all divides, cultural boundaries and orientations. My love language is oneness

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Wuthering Heights, Great Expectations and Homer’s Odyssey

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
A born and raised Floridian, I’ve been an avid bookworm since childhood. I love the power of words and the stories that draw you in so powerfully, it feels as if you are experiencing every touch, taste, and emotion yourself. I wanted to give readers that visceral experience with In the Dark, my debut novel which I wrote mostly from my local coffee shop. I’m also a certified personal trainer and nutrition coach who writes about veganism, mental health, and body image, all themes that feature prominently in my book along with my love and faith in God as a Christian.

When I’m not reading, writing, or coaching, I’m playing volleyball or hanging out with my two smaller furbabies (my three-footed cat named Raja and my half-blind dog named Milo) or on my family’s farm with my much larger furbabies, two Quarter horse Paints named Titan (aka Grumpy) and Winston.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
In The Dark is my first published book and is the first book of a series. The feeling of lacking purpose in my daily life helped me dive into starting writing for ME. Next thing I knew I had written enough to not only publish a single book but a SERIES of books.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I HAVE to drink coffee when I write. It’s my necessary writing inspiration that gets my creative juices flowing.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Colleen Houck–Tiger’s Curse Series
Sarah J Maas– Court of Thorns and Roses Series
Stephenie Meyer– Twilight Series and The Host
Laura Ingalls Wilder– Little House On The Prairie
Carrie Vaughn– The Kitty Norville series

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on finishing a book separate from the In The Dark series. It is based on Japanese mythology and a disturbing dosage of trauma/horror. I apparently like to write horror but cannot watch it for the life of me.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Still figuring that part out…

Do you have any advice for new authors?
The first book you publish is definitely a learning process. I’ve learned so much from this process that I know to stick to my guns for my next book.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Bloom where you’re planted

What are you reading now?
The Bible (no joke lol)

What’s next for you as a writer?
Gaining exposure as I create more stories and perfect my storytelling.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible
A Court of Mist And Fury
The Host

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
The $1.99 Author is the third book to my credit, and I am a Canadian author living in Toronto.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The $1.99 Author was inspired by my five year journey as a book author.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I was tempted to say procrastinating until deadlines loom but that may not be “unusual” from what I’ve seen.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Believe it or not, I go out of my way to not be influenced by reading in genres I plan to write in. I want my voice on the page.

What are you working on now?
Book marketing has my full attention for the time being, although a new fictional work has been nagging at me for about a year now so 2022 may see a return to writing.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
The greatest measurable return on investment, factoring in both time and money, comes from e-mail campaigns.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
I have to laugh. . . READ The $1.99 Author! If you have a burning desire to one day hold a book you wrote in your hands, you have my condolences.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you expect nothing, you’ll never be disappointed.

What are you reading now?
I’m taking a break, but I’m on the lookout for a good indie mystery if I can find one.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’d like to think traditional publishing but I’m not sure I have the patience.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
M, S, and T of an encyclopedia, and maybe War and Peace.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born and raised in Philadelphia and currently reside in western Pennsylvania with my wife, Janet and Golden Retriever, Nala. I am a United States Air Force veteran and served in West Germany in the early sixties. I earned BSBA and MBA degrees in operations management and financial analysis from Temple University and Golden Gate University. Heimat is my first novel. I can be contacted at p.marzell@comcast.net.

https://www.amazon.com/author/paulmarzell

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Heimat is not a specific geographical location. There are many places called Heimat that exist for many people. The story is fiction in which the names, characters, places, and incidents are the products of my imagination. This book is an offshoot of a family tree project I began before my first grandchild was born nine years ago. In addition to the usual resources to investigate family lineage, i.e., census and baptismal records, I also had an abundance of valuable documents from my father, including his birth certificate, immigration documents, passport, and various German and United States government forms. But most importantly, he saved letters from his mother, sisters, and other relatives sent to him in the years before and after World War Two. These letters not only facilitated the timeline for the story but also provided the narrative. Many of the letters were written in the Sütterlin Schrift. I transliterated them into modern, readable German and then translated them into English. I must confess that my translations are not precise because my fluency in German is wide open for improvement. But I squeezed enough clarity from the letters to see the conflict of an immigrant’s allegiance to his country of origin, his commitment to his adopted country, and his mother’s hopes to see her son again.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No, but my typing sucks.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Herman Wouk, Erik Larson, James Clavell, James Michener, Suzanne Collins, Stieg Larsson, Stephanie Meyer, J. K. Rowland, Dean Koontz, Coleene McCullogh, Larry McMurtry, J.R.R. Tolkien

What are you working on now?
My typing skills.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still exploring this realm.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
No. I’m still a new author.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The day I become a man is the day I walk around a puddle instead of through it.

What are you reading now?
It’s the Christmas season. No time for reading.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m sorting through the various mental scenarios of what the next genre and subject should be. There are at least three and each is totally different from Heimat.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
How To Build a Raft With a Sail, How to Navigate by the Stars, How to Build Containers to Store Water, How to Dry Fruits and Vegetables for Long Term Storage.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am the author of the international thriller ‘The Second List’. As it is very positively reviewed, I am currently working on a second Patrick Rooper thriller.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Steven Spielberg once said that he makes the movies he wanted to see. I am writing the books I want to read. ‘The Second List’ was inspired mostly by my own interests, my own ideas of excitement.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
As my attention span is limited, I write in short, intense spurts, letting the story develop in my mind first.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
As a visually driven person, I am more influenced by movies and directors than authors and books: Godard, Fellini, Lang, Leone, Bergman, Kurosawa, Kubrick, Hitchcock, to name a few.

BUT, the book that influenced me most was a very disappointing thriller. It was so terrible, I knew I could do better. ‘The Second List’ started as a project to prove myself right.

What are you working on now?
I am currently writing a short story around one of the characters in ‘The Second List’, while another Patrick Rooper thriller is developing.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Unfortunately, to figure that one out is still a work in progress.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just start writing. To see where this journey takes you is as exciting as the story itself.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
You have one life, find your talents and follow your dream.

What are you reading now?
Writing, unfortunately, leaves very little time for reading currently.

What’s next for you as a writer?
As long as the stories are developing in my mind, I will keep going, inking the next Patrick Rooper thrillers.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
‘How to survive on a deserted island’, ‘How to build a raft with things you find on a deserted island’, ‘How to find your way home from a deserted island’, ‘Why you should or should not try to leave a deserted island’.
I am sure these books have yet to be written.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi! I’m Amanda, I’m an author and storyteller out of Massachusetts. As of now I have seven books published. Four are part of my New Winslow series while three are from North County Paranormal.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My most recent book is Fairview Hills Cemetery, which is Book 3 in the North County Paranormal series. Both the entire series and the book itself are inspired by the region of Massachusetts where I live and where the story is set. It’s a boring-seeming mill town, but there are all sorts of strange stories about paranormal encounters. I wanted to do a supernatural workplace drama where the relationships between the characters are as important as whatever entity they are fighting this week.

Fairview Hills Cemetery in particular in inspired by stories of Ouija board sessions gone wrong. A young boy and his friends decide to have some Halloween fun and now he and the NCP team have to deal with the consequences.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I love to write completely out-there scenes that don’t really have a place in the book I’m writing at a given moment. Like, an idea will come into my head and suddenly I have 10K words of what is essentially fan fiction of my own work. Usually they never see the light of day, but sometimes they’ll end up inspiring major storylines.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve been reading Stephen King since I was probably far too young to be doing so. Being from New England, he’s such a constant presence here. So definitely his books, especially The Stand.

I’m also very influenced by comics and audio dramas. Ghosts in the Burbs by Liz Sower combines horror with the mundane in a way that I aspire to. And I’ve read a lot of Hope Larson’s comics over the years and they’ve really influenced the way I approach relationships between characters.

What are you working on now?
I’m working on the next books in both New Winslow and North County Paranormal at the moment. New Winslow is an ongoing, serialized story, so it takes me longer to write each season and make sure all of the threads come together. North County Paranormal is more episodic, with overarching storylines. So this one I’m currently writing focuses on a set of strange deaths in a family of deeply unpleasant shop owners. But it also continues developing characters and situations that were introduced in the earlier books.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Newsletters! Both paid and your own. I’m a big fan of BookFunnel and using group promos with similar authors.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
What happens in your first draft stays in your first draft. It doesn’t need to be good, so just throw the words down on paper. Once you have a first draft, you can go back and make it a coherent storyline.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
There’s no speed limit. While there are always going to be things that will impact your writing, don’t feel like you need to slow down and do things a specific way.

What are you reading now?
I’m in the middle of “This Is How You Lose the Time War” by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone and “Trailer Park Trickster” by David R. Slayton.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Lots of things! I’ve got more books coming out in both series, plus ideas for standalone books and a new series.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Oh gosh. The Stand by Stephen King, definitely. Good Omens should be on there too. And I guess a cookbook to help me make food from what’s available on this island?

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a Hong Kong-based speaker, self-love advocate and conscious relationship coach with clients in Hong Kong, Singapore and USA. As a speaker, I help my clients understand what’s holding them back, find their voice, improve their confidence and share their story. My self-love advocacy helps my clients discover why they feel unworthy. I empower them to rewrite a new story so that they can love themselves again. As a conscious relationship coach, I helped my clients identify their unconscious relationship patterns and behaviors, improve their relationship with themselves and find the safest love relationship. I’m an expert at identifying the language of the subconscious which I credit meditation for. I understand the power of the invisible which is in the subconscious, which I bring to my clients’ conscious awareness. I’m a loving wife, mom, writer, event host and cook. I love starting my day with gentle exercise on my yoga mat followed by a cup of chai.

So far I have written one book.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is WIRED FOR SELF-LOVE.

It’s inspired from my own journey of improving my relationship with myself. In the process I learned other people practiced self-love in their own ways. There is no one right way. The important thing is wanting it. You have to want to improve your relationship with yourself. When you align with what you want, you then choose a new way to be. This is what inspired me to keep going on my journey. Being on the journey helped me believe in myself and keep pursuing learning how to love myself.

It wasn’t easy. I found myself to be alone and often lonely. And that’s when I realized that I can’t abandon myself. Just because I felt emotionally abandoned as a child doesn’t mean I continue to do that to myself. I’m an adult now, and I (can) take full responsibility for myself, my emotions and behaviors.

Writing WIRED FOR SELF-LOVE was not just an opportunity to share my message with the world, it was for me to put tp practice what I was to preach the world to do. Yes, it was spiritual kick on the backside! And it hurt, alright. But this book was able to see the light of the day because of it. I’m grateful!

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write spontaneous poems.

You can get a cup of coffee from Starbucks for less than $3 to wake you up for a few hours or you can go to your nearest Amazon Kindle store (without leaving your couch) and purchase WIRED FOR SELF-LOVE that might wake you up for the rest of your life. 🙂

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Deepak Chopra, Osho and Paulo Coelho are the three authors that have influenced me and build that deep relationship with my spirit when I was completely disconnected from myself. Their books were my saviors. The words in their books spoke to my spirit and stitched it back together. This reflects in the way I conduct myself in the world with my clients, readers and loved ones.

I’ve read The 7 Spiritual Laws Of Success several times. It has 7 chapters that you can read and finish easily within a week. What I love about Deepak Chopra’s books is that the provides wonderful explanation minus the jargon. Plus he keeps the reader engaged with exercises. But what’s amazing is that when you reread it the following week, you absorb the information a little deeper. Reading is one thing. Studying and practicing it is another. I recommend studying this gem of a book. It’s a keeper. It’s my bible.

What are you working on now?
I’m focused on expanding my reach and my message through my book. People are looking forward to getting the physical book in their hands, some requesting for a signed copy, which is very exciting, flattering and humbling as a first time author. So that’s definitely in the pipeline – getting the physical book in the hands of the right people.

Writing excites me and I have second book idea which I’d like to validate. So those who read this, please share your thoughts. Growth is very important to me, especially in my closest relationships. Tension in relationships can cause a lot of stress. So my husband and I use humor to dissipate that tension because we want to choose to love each other. What that allows is for each of us to look at the problem/situation from deliberately a humorous perspective which changes the emotion of upset to laughter. It always brings us closer. Would a (humorous) handbook like that with real stories help bring more love into marriages and relationship? (Please share your thoughts/feedback to optimysticoachk@gmail.com with this reference point in the subject of your email.)

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I love Awesome Gang’s paid and free book promotions. It gives me a sense of how caring they are towards new authors! Buck Books, Bargain Booksy and Book Bubs are a few others. Other than that, advertising on Amazon and across social media consistently helps to keep your book on top of people’s minds.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes.
#1. The marketing of your book starts before your start writing your book.
#2. Remember rule #1.
#3. Marketing your book never stops.
#4. Writing your book is easy. But if you write an amazing book and no one reads it… (where’s the heart-break emoji 🙁 )

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never give up.
Never give up on yourself.
Never give up on love.

What are you reading now?
I’m a sporadic reader. But my learning never stops. I continue to learn how I can master the art of results. I have manifested things in my personal life, I’m learning how to apply the same in terms of my professional life with experts in this field.

What’s next for you as a writer?
My new project is mentioned under What are you working on now? I would really appreciate your feedback.
Speaking inspires me. That’s an identity I own. Both speaking and writing help me inspire and empower others. So I continue to trust the journey I’m on.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
1. The 7 Spiritual Laws Of Success by Deepak Chopra
2. The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire: Harnessing the Infinite Power of Coincidence by Deepak Chopra
3. Lost and Stranded: Expert Advice on How to Survive Being Alone in the Wilderness by Timothy Sprinkle
